@chaotical-xe This chapter was so sweet and tender especially because Sonic completely acted as a big brother even with Chris by making him realize that he is not perfect either by understanding that Chris is not that he doesn't want to be there for Eve but he has been so disappointed so many times by their parents that he has given up hope by now (honestly I don't blame him) but anyway both Eve and Chris have their real family next to them: Sonic and his friends, they don't need people who make them suffer right?

@lets-share-neen Then...then...then I can help you solve at least point 4 since I've figured out quite a bit by doing my research and watching the anime: the professor and Luke never stopped feeling first remember how he wasn't so surprised to see Luke grow up? Here he was surprised about Marina that he didn't know of her physical existence, in my opinion through letters yes, but not Luke's which makes us understand that at least sometimes the two have seen each other even physically since both Kat and the professor really love Luke a lot and Kat even calls him uncle. Also I want to remind you that their friendship is practically eternal that even when one of them leaves this world, it could never be broken or ended allowing both of them to reunite wherever they are both on Earth and well...when they stop living (I know it's kind of sad but the game confirms that the two would practically not live without each other) and quoting the professor: " physical distance doesn't matter when there is a bond of true friendship" I seriously and strongly doubt that the two have drifted apart however Luke has "sacrificed" his own happiness of reuniting with them out of love for the professor and Kat by wanting to indirectly prevent him from also joining in solving this mystery since he knew very well that the professor was also investigating it but also that it could have driven him away from Kat and thus make him suffer again which Luke would never want! And in fact the professor immediately understood why Luke didn't tell him that he had returned to live in London and even in the vicinity of the professor's house (although I didn't understand if he meant the studio or really his house since the studio has now become half a house for him since the beginning of the saga xD) even telling him that without him he wouldn't be able to solve the mystery when he asked him for help and I also want to remind you that Luke, Kat and Claire are the only characters that really made the professor cry and with this demonstration present in the games there is enough to understand that when the professor really cares about someone he shows it openly and as for Marina, they are not really married but are de facto cohabitants even though in the anime Marina says the Japanese term for husband in the third person. And I affirm this because first of all there is no visible evidence that they are married either in the city hall or in the church and even if you get married abroad, they always give you a copy of the certificate that you got married even in Japan they do so basically they always give you something to prove it, second point there are no photos of the last years of their marriage and since those are particularly important you can't not put them on display and according to the law for to prove that yours is a real marriage you can't not show them visibly to everyone, third point: even if they were married in a church, neither Marina nor Luke have a ring on their finger, neck or just the tan where it indicates that there was a ring there so the definition of Marina is nothing more than her self-proclamation and the last name is something given by the fans is not official (kind of like with Seedrian in Sonic X it is a fan-given term for Cosmo but not official). However, however, there is every evidence that the two are de facto cohabitants: first of all, de facto cohabitants are an unmarried couple but in society, especially in London, they are seen as married even if they are not (it doesn't mean that then you can't get married eh) and the requirements for applying to be so are: having a strong emotional bond as a couple, supporting each other morally and materially while the requirements that are not necessary are: you don't have to be forcibly married, not being related and not living together in order to adopt someone and Marina and Luke in the anime have shown with sufficient evidence that they are de facto cohabitants.

As much as I love the anime (hint: a lot), there are still glaring plot holes and loose ends en masse and I really wonder if they are able to wrap this up in the remaining episodes? I am in no way nitpicky and usually the last person to point stuff like this out, but there are a couple things that are bothering me a bit. [Spoilers for the games and anime!]

He's still his adopted son, spiritually, by bond, relationship, affection and consideration (and these things matter more than bloodline e.e) also the game confirms that when call he: " my boy". In the AU's Layton adopts totally Luke but for sure the games aren't a AU or a headcanon on these things that I have written before

The headcanon seriously brought me to tears and I would like to add something about the thought of @laytonerd-oldblog and @been-there-pun-that , Layton tells Luke in the UF in his speech that no matter how much distance might separate them physically actually time and distance are irrelevant when it comes to a formed bond of true friendship however that doesn't mean that when they well...die then their friendship is over or they will never be reunited again, and the statue of the writer and the child is a proof of that, as well as so is Claire and Anton himself: all three have lost someone very dear to them, practically an eternal bond for them but that bond that was "broken" in mortal remains, was never really broken spiritually and in fact the writer was reunited with the child because their true friendship never separated them even with the death of the former and so it will be for Layton is Luke. When it happens well that... done to one of them, it will not break and nor will their eternal friendship stop lasting because it will allow them to see each other again and again they are literally best and true friends until the end and beyond

Hmm… for this one, I will say Descole. His design is unique among all of PL characters, and he looks much badass than any other PL villains. Though I didn’t really like his somewhat ambiguous character.

50. Tell me any headcanon you have about the game!

For this one, I may get kicked out from this fandom. I had a headcanon that Luke had an extremely rare disease which similar with Arianna’s, but more dangerous since it can’t be cured even by the Golden Garden. This makes him depressed, as he knew that his lifespan is much shorter than normal, thus can’t enjoy his life as much as other kids do. When Hershel found out this tragic fact, he vowed to himself that he will take care of him as best as he could and promised to him that he will and always became his friend till death separates them apart.

The lyrics really say more than the anime itself and that's now common knowledge for most people who watch anime however I don't really agree on the last point of the final episode but don't get me wrong I read your analysis with tears in my eyes (you owe me a tablecloth for the tears I chased out know it 😌). Sonic in the original version, but actually in the English version as well, never but really never says goodbye to Chris and: " so long" doesn't mean goodbye but it's a see you soon longer, it's not a final goodbye to make you understand basically it's a bye that you say to someone you know you will meet again soon but you don't know when. Chris doesn't leave because Sonic is safe now he knows that as long as Eggman is free Sonic and the others will never really be safe but he also realized that he would regret not telling his biological family why he didn't get in touch meanwhile was with his adopted family, if you count Eggman's three minute deception, however he realized above all one very but really very important thing: it is not impossible to reach Sonic and his world and the two are destined to be together but it takes effort on both sides to create a solid bond, a bond that Sonic and Chris have created and it is indestructible and eternal above all, it is a bond that has broken the seal of the shining road that previously did not easily allow them to reunite (even Shining Road gives clues 😉). There is also to be said that as for Sonic, it is not impossible for Chris to return either he just has to wait for the Master Emerald to recover and his machine, as is shown in episode 59, still has the data and in the Master Emerald he had only put a copy also as Eggman had already mentioned in 49 where he stated that Sonic and Chris were a thorn in his side, Chris had become too much but really too good to the point of considering him a threat and for the villain when he sees someone as a threat, most of the time it is because you are competent and dangerous to him. When in the finale Sonic with his eyes greets him telling him that they would see each other again very soon (which he says explicitly in the English and Italian versions) it sincerely moved me because you feel deep down all the affection he feels for him also the fact that they joined hands not to separate them anymore is a symbol that goes to indicate union, a union that is now sealed forever.

@probablygayattorneys Anyway in the anime there is no evidence that the two are married neither civilly nor in the Church however there is evidence that they are de facto cohabitants. De facto cohabitants are a couple that is allowed to live together without any other methods including marriage or living together because you have to adopt someone in fact among the necessary requirements is that the couple must have a strong emotional bond, must support each other morally and materially also, as I said before, it is not necessary to be related, to be married or to have to adopt someone and this practice, although in the real world it was included in 2016, goes to help especially LGBTQ communities. However, I don't think Luke will not ask her to marry him sooner or later also because as Marina says in the finale: Luke would think first about adventure and helping others by solving mysteries than chasing after a woman is already that says it all.

In Layton Mystery Tanteisha, when Marina first comes to Layton’s office to ask for help, they are introduced at that time. He does not recognize her and she does not act like they met before but he doesn’t remember her.

From this, we can deduce one thing: Layton was not in attendance at Luke’s wedding. Do with this information what you will.
