If a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it, does it even fall ?⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ So what happens when you get together a special group of individuals based on famous literary figures and give them supernatural powers based on their famous works ?⁣⁣ Well, Bungous Stray Dogs it is. ⁣⁣ I won't bore you with the synopsis but basically, it revolves around three organisations who have conflicting notions (not always) and desire power, authority and aristocracy in the city of Yokohama.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ The uniqueness of the show lies in its diverse and colourful characters. The show focuses more on the characters rather than the story. And that's where the problem lies. People not often love character-driven stories and are rather imbibed in the story-driven shows. One of the reasons why this anime wasn't able to make its mark.⁣⁣ Everything that happens in BSD are the ramifications of characters themselves. In short, the show is for a very niche community where people can overlook the story if it has strong and amazing characters. But that doesn't mean the story isn't good, it's brilliantly curated and every arc is beautiful in its own way, especially the first arc of second season.⁣⁣ The world-building is flawless because whatever happens, it happens in Yokohama, in the seas of Yokohama and in the clouds of Yokohama. ⁣⁣ I'm literally appreciating it, don't take it in a sarcastic way.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Talking about animation, it was okay-ish in the first season, quite enjoyable and watchable. But boy Studio Bones, for the second season decided that it was time for some improvement. ⁣⁣ And do they ever disappoint ? ⁣⁣ The animation was like a beautiful painting hovering upon my eyes, a spectrum of elegance. The colour palettes were as vivid as they could be. Certainly the very best.⁣⁣ The action sequences were very well choreographed and directed. It was a breath of fresh air for me. Loved it. ⁣⁣ The OPs and EDs of all the seasons are quite good and doesn't disappoint with unnecessary, prolonged and the repetitive lyrics and music. Everything seems perfect. The music reeks of "If these aren't the best OP and ED you have listened to, you are lost my child". ⁣ Read more in the comments !!⁣ (at India) https://www.instagram.com/p/B-pJo0XFgsS/?igshid=1dpr1br57b29e

Here's a sweet collab with @weebfammumbai We debated on whether Light Yagami's ideology and his perspective towards life and death was right or wrong. ⁣ .⁣ Giving a touch of philosophy and diving in the minds of an anime character with different mindsets, this post tries to establish how our Anti-Hero thought. ⁣ It is not the people who are bad or good, often it's their notions, their way of life and the experiences.⁣ .⁣ So yeah do give both the opinions a read, we both had quite fun doing this. ⁣ That's it for now folks, signing out.⁣ .⁣ Thanks for the collab @weebfammumbai ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ .⁣ #anime #animediscussion #animetheory #deathnote #deathnoteanime #lightyagami #deathnotevibes #misaamane #ryuk #lawliet #madhouse #otakulife #theories #philosphy #discussions #animestagram #otaku #animeedits #animememesdaily #animereviews #indiananimecommunity #collab #indianguys #animetalkies (at India) https://www.instagram.com/p/B-j3D3flV7y/?igshid=1i8q3ee70xt1f

We all get lost. We all lose someone. ⁣ In the spiral of life, we often are succumbed in a continuous loop of sadness and pain. ⁣ 'Dororo' brings all those lost souls together and give them a home. It teaches us that sometimes tears and pain can be beautiful too. ⁣ ⁣ A father in pursuit of more power sacrifices his own son's body parts to the twelve demons. As a result, the cursed boy is born without limbs, eyes, nose, ears, not even skin and yet he still lives. The child is disposed of in a river and is forgotten. ⁣ Fortunately, a medicine man founds him and provides him with prosthetics and weapons so that he can survive in this world. ⁣ And in order to get his body parts back, he must defeat all the twelve demons who he was sacrificed to. And on his quest, he meets a boy named Dororo and a girl named Mio.⁣ ⁣ Each episode is a self-contained morality tale. This isn't a feel-good series. It is one of those series where stress and conflict are the only constant. Suffering is the only option and sacrifice is the only reward. Death is just another sunrise and life is the only sunset. Despite all the 'I don't feel good Mr Stark' vibes, the anime withholds the power to change the very perspective of life amidst humanity.⁣ ⁣ And as people struggle through their miserable lives, there comes a point, several times, where they are compelled to change, either for good or bad. And our protagonist, Hyakkimaru too try to claw his way back to normalcy despite his deformities and a tragic past. ⁣ ⁣ The animation is quite impressive. The hand-drawn backgrounds replete with trees, river, forests and mountains in a stunning manner. Everything this anime does is shockingly well. The animation is smooth, the sword fighting scenes are one of the very best I've seen in a long time, some philosophies here and there regarding life and death and the dialogues are well curated too. The world is immersive and deep and while Hyakkimaru can't speak for himself, I as an audience was able to feel for him with everything he was going through.⁣ ⁣ But every anime has its shortcomings, right ?⁣⁣ The first half is too good. ⁣ Read more in the comments !!!⁣ ⁣ ⁣ .⁣ #anime #dororo #hyakkimaru #gory (at India) https://www.instagram.com/p/B-Ug39Ml1Vh/?igshid=1aq5f7eprcpj6

'It was not dying that mattered, ⁣ it was the sadness, the wonder. ⁣ The few good people crying in the night. ⁣ The few good people'.⁣ ⁣ The anime is shallow, predictable and unoriginal, and yet I love this film. Not in a guilty pleasure way but in a genuine way. I think it is one of the best anime movies I have ever seen. Sticking to the cliche and orthodox way of storytelling is one thing but using the same concepts in a profound way to evoke the emotions once again through a heartfelt way of storytelling is another. ⁣ And 'I want to eat your Pancreas' does it flawlessly. Curating a message so powerful, it left me in an absolute mess.⁣ ⁣ It's generic and is recognised only because it's a 'tearjerker' - that's what people said about it.⁣ But what I do believe is that if people are attracted towards movies like these, they are not in it for the happiness and the jovial ending. They are in it because they want to be moved, by the surrealism of love and hopelessness. ⁣ I am a tearjerker and I am kinda proud of it.⁣ You see not all stories are meant to have an ending, ⁣ some are lost in the ruins,⁣ some are lost in the hearts,⁣ and⁣ some are lost in the journey itself.⁣ ⁣ "I want to eat your Pancreas" will drown you into a world where hope and love walk together alongside the rumbling hills of chaos and despair. It's not very often that an anime makes you feel heavy, so heavy that you aren't able to lift up your hand, tears are drooling down from your eyes and your words are numb. ⁣ And nothing will ever be the same again.⁣ ⁣ ⁣ Highly recommended for peeps who like to cry.⁣ Anime suggestion by - ⁣@nexus_blaze ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ .⁣ ⁣#anime #animeedits #haruki #sakura #iwanttoeatyourpancreas #romance #otaku #otakulife #manga #filmadaptation #animediscussion #reviewers #discussions #india #love (at India) https://www.instagram.com/p/B-FTadoFTl0/?igshid=1ncy7bsn5x6mp

Teamwork. Talent. Rivalry. Motivation. Winning. Losing. Presuure. Hardwork. Friendship.⁣ The realm of sports usually involves all of this and needless to say, it was depicted brilliantly through Haikyuu. It remained grounded and yet was able to hold up the definition of what a shounen should be like.⁣ ⁣ A high school volleyball team which was once among the strongest teams have now fallen and is rebuilding. Enters two new first year students Kageyama and Hinata, originally sworned rivals but now have to work together for the team's sake. Haikyuu lets you in with the idea of "yet another sports anime" and from the very first few episodes engrosses you with all the nuances and fun and something about it just keeps getting better after every episode. Until a point comes where you are completely enchanted with the show. Swooped away within moments.⁣ ⁣ As a sports show, most often, it involves competition. But to build it, one has to start from scratch. Haruichi Furudate does that essentially by creating the foundation for the sport and it's competitors. While Hinata is the main protagonist, other players aren't left in the shadow. The story focuses on them collectively as well as individually too as they work their way towards the journey. ⁣ What sets Haikyuu apart from various sports genre anime is that it creates room for character development and utilises it in the perfect manner possible. It literally makes you care about its characters. If they lose, you will feel the same sense of loss and heavy burden. And if they win, you will scream with them, tears of happiness all over your face. Furthermore, it doesn't rely on the same tactics and movements (cough cough kuroko no basketball). ⁣ The players adapt themselves to become better. ⁣ ⁣ "So long as I'm here, you will be the strongest".⁣ -- Tobio Kageyama⁣ ⁣ By all means, it ain't the perfect anime and it suffers from some flaws. The dialogues can be a bit cheesy and sometimes the story becomes predictable. It can be slow paced at times. Plus the cliche 'manager beauty'....⁣ Read more in the comments 🔻🔻⁣ ⁣ ⁣ .⁣ #anime #animereviews #haikyuu #hinatashoyo #kageyamatobio #karasuno #volleyball #tsukishimakei #sports (at India) https://www.instagram.com/p/B93s5DSlFQq/?igshid=15xgunxjfeq9x

Stain's ideology regarding how a real hero is actually supposed to be; he believes that those who work for fame and income or for self-glorification are unworthy of being proclaimed as a hero, with the exception of AllMight. ⁣ Thus he has embarked on a journey to eliminate all those false heroes who make a mockery of the true ones.⁣ ⁣ If I was to argue about Stain's definition of a true hero, I wouldn't blame him or accuse him of being wrongly informed or misguided in any manner. In the world which Horikoshi created, there indeed were heroes who were trying to be one just for the sake of fame and fun. And our hero killer here was not happy about it. It's not about whether Stain was wrong or not, it was more about whether heroes were right or not. ⁣ Did they actually deserve the recognition they had ? ⁣ ⁣ The fight between Stain and the UA students takes place in a narrow alley. This is the symbolism of how narrow were the ideologies of all the characters who were fighting with their own definitions of what a hero is. Let's crack it down one by one :⁣ ⁣ (1) Todoroki was there only and only because of Deku, he made him realise what a true hero is; in the tournament. So for Todoroki (as for then), we can say that he had this borrowed notion of Deku and thus can be acclaimed as "narrowed".⁣ (2) Iida was there because he wanted revenge for his elder brother and his ideal "Ingenium". Consumed with revenge and anger, one can't be proclaimed as a true hero thus "narrowed".⁣ (3) Talking about Deku, he was also following the footsteps of his ideal, AllMight. I am not saying it isn't correct, the ideology he had was the best one but it was also borrowed. AllMight had a major influence on him and also on his ideology. Thus "narrowed".⁣ (4) For Stain, he had one major flaw in his ideology, he ignored an important aspect when it comes to heroism: At the end of the day, it doesn't matter if the hero is a selfish, jerk, in it for the glory or is paid to do the job, all that matters is that whether someone is saved or not because of their actions.⁣ ⁣ Well, what do you guys think though ??⁣ ⁣ ⁣ .⁣ #anime #bnha #deku #todoroki #bakugo #iidatenya #stain #schoolfights #animetalkies (at India) https://www.instagram.com/p/B9wAL0Wl86I/?igshid=kryokyx5gog9

How bittersweet it is, the distance that exists between human beings. An ache to the heart and yet beautiful. A part of us will always belong to someone else. Is it painful ? Being a memory of someone forever ? Being not with them when they are happy ? Being not with them when they are devastated ? Is love the greatest pain one can ask for ? Or is it the love which went in vain more scathing to the heart ?⁣ ⁣ Out of all the romantic relationships one has in their lives, first love is the most impactful. How sweet it was to see her, to hold her hands, to be able to love, to be loved, to be there for her and how agonizing it was when it ended. Abruptness all over. A state of loneliness surrounded by the walls of love and chaos where everything was falling apart. Worst of all, you can not do anything about it now. It's over. Time slipped by and it will never come back. It's lost. The touch, that scent, the feeling and everything. It's all lost in the mist. Going into this film, you can expect one thing for sure, heartbreak. It shows us that how with the passing of time, feelings can fade away, those vibrant emotions you had once are now nowhere to be found. How unaware we are of other's feelings when we are in love. And how not all love will be realised. Makoto Shinkai shows us that to convey emotion, one doesn't need to rely on tears or screaming. He purely relies on subtlety. He keeps the movie down to earth without being melodramatic or cliche. ⁣ How cruel can unrequited love be ? ⁣ How cruel can the reality be ? ⁣ How cruel it is to not be able to forget someone ?⁣ ⁣ "5 cm per second" is the epitome of what is achievable in storytelling and art. The rich words used for narration is what makes it more profound and elegant. It's realistic and relatable and that's why it hurts more. There couldn't be a more fitting ending to this film. On a final note, it's worth mentioning that the title couldn't be more complete. Depending on your perspective, that speed can be too slow or too fast for falling cherry blossoms. ⁣ It's a distant metaphor, but a fitting one.⁣ ⁣ ⁣ .⁣ #anime #makotoshinkai #love #animediscussion #animeanalysis #yourname #5cmpersecond #animetalkies (at India) https://www.instagram.com/p/B9qs5nFlzUI/?igshid=13mnr5dc60zuq

Not in a million years would Disney approach this topic. The Japanese, on the other hand, believe that animation is just another way of storytelling and nothing should be excluded. This is evident in "A Silent Voice", using images to peer into the darkness, self-loathing and depression. Although ultimately about healing and redemption in the end, it doesn't flinch away when addressing elements that would cause a Disney executive to kill the project.⁣ ⁣ "A Silent Voice" explores the relationship between the prankster Shoyo and the good-hearted deaf girl Shoko. Encompassed with uncertainty and confusion on how he exactly feels about the newcomer, Shoyo resorts to bullying, snatching Shoko's hearing aids and throwing them out, calling her names, and harassing her in every manner he could think of. Devastated by his actions, Shoko transfers to a new school and in the wake of her departure Shoyo is ostracized and when we next encounter him, he is a loner falling in the chasms of guilt and humiliation. ⁣ ⁣ This movie is a brave attempt to depict the lives of people like Shoyo and Shoko. I was taken aback by the trailer itself. Never ever have I thought that there would be a movie like this. This movie speaks on so many levels. Shoyo is battling with social anxieties and depression while Shoko is trying to fit in the society by being a part of the crowd. It teaches us to realise how important one is, as a human being. ⁣ The movie doesn't shy away from the delicate topics and presents it boldly. ⁣ ⁣ Throughout Shoyo's transformation from a bully to a kind-hearted human being, it wasn't just the dialogue that impacted me, but the visuals surrounding him. Every time he would pass by other people that knew him, they had X's on their face. When this aspect comes into play a little later in the movie, I'd be lying if I said it didn't move me. From beginning to hate the film for displaying a very unlikable character, this story really does a great job at winning you over. ⁣ ⁣ Critically speaking, it's a movie about an egotistic protagonist who wants to repent for the mistakes he made as a child and falls in love with the 'object of his interest'. Part (1/2)⁣ ⁣ We're first introduced to Kageyama as a tall and intimidating young boy who never smiles. Instead, there is a frown on his face; always. During the first match against Hinatas' he demonstrated his way of playing volleyball and justified the reason for being calling him the "King of the court". There we saw an egocentric and a stoic person. An arrogant kid who is desperately trying to achieve his selfish desires, neglecting the team and overdoing things. He even chided Hinata for not utilising his full potential, for not performing at his best and raising questions regarding his determination and love towards the game. ⁣ Kageyama was hard to even like from the very first episode, Haruichi Furudate made sure that we all despised him after that particular match.⁣ ⁣ After enrolling himself in Karasuno High School, his eyes glimmer with hope, standing tall on the volleyball court, he smiles. Not for long though because that's when Hinata comes into the picture and he sees the person who mocked him a few years ago. So what happens, a brooding tale of friendship and volleyball comes into motion. From here on it is that Kageyama understood the value of teamwork and talent. This marks a very important phase in his life. He undergoes through several different events and matches to understand the reason of why he was tagged with "King". Finally, the light dawns upon him, the goody-two-shoes slowly comprehend and analyses what was wrong with him. And that's what lead to his improvement, as a person as well as a player.⁣ ⁣ What we think was the most defining moment in his life was the match between him and Oikawa. There was a time when Kageyama admired Oikawa for his brilliant skills in the game. He was fascinated by the way he played. The athleticism, the analytical skills and the fast decision making were some of the reasons he admired Oikawa for. And at last, he was on the court against him, the pressure was for real. The burden he was carrying as the team's setter plus the fact that he was facing the real "King of the Court" sent shivers down to his spine. The insecurity was drooling upon him.⁣ ⁣ Read more in the comments below // (at India) https://www.instagram.com/p/B85vDWuF0MG/?igshid=1h8j91ydrsnpn

What if I told you that there exists an anime which we never deserved. It holds a complexity which only a few have been able to reach. It is a letter of love addressed to life, a lesson about the hardships and happy moments, it’s about getting up and moving on despite the obstacles that await for you and it only gets better after each episode.⁣ ⁣ In the aftermath of a great war, Violet Evergarden, a young female ex-soldier gets a job at a writer's agency and goes on the hectic assignment of creating letters that can connect people. ⁣ "I want to know what love is" ⁣ And this is how her journey started. It's a journey of words, words that hold the power to influence the perspective of a person about the world. Finding the right words for loved ones isn't easy and Violet learns that through several encounters with different people who all have a story to tell.⁣ A story of love. ⁣ Many stories of love.⁣ ⁣ So what was the complexity I was talking about ?⁣ Well, it lies in the narration, the choice of words, the aesthetic art, the execution and elegant stories. But above all, it teaches us "how to be more human". Not every shoujo genre or any other anime has perfected the art which Violet Evergarden tries to but KyoAni does it in a remarkable way. I have never been disappointed with any of the works of KyoAni and would dare to say that Violet Evergarden is the best work of the studio so far. ⁣ ⁣ Talking about the soundtrack, it is the kind of melody which will strike thousands of chords of one's heart. The impact it had upon me as an audience was of "heartfelt music" and "beyond perfect". I will never forget the music. Never ever.⁣ ⁣ There is a place which lies beyond the ideas of love and heartbreak. Violet Evergarden is that place. She will always be there, lying on the grasses, looking upon the wide blue sky with hope glimmering in her eyes. And I will never forget her. She will be etched in my heart as the girl who always wanted to understand the meaning of "I love you". ⁣ Words will always fall short to describe the beauty this anime withholds.⁣ A masterpiece in every aspect.⁣ ⁣ "The story which will never get lost in the ruins" (at India) https://www.instagram.com/p/B8wjHzIlgGT/?igshid=zfzcwv9znruo

The standout fact about L is that throughout his life, he had only picked cases that seemed interesting to him. On one hand, it didnt seem like such a bad thing to do but on the other, it was. We all have seen the iconic second episode of the anime where L and Light proclaimed themselves as "Justice". So if one is defining themselves as justice, shouldn't all cases come under the purview of him, by all cases I mean the ones he was offered to be on. But that doesn't happen here.⁣ Basically for L, the cases should be high profile and extraordinary. The explanation of this would be that he treats everything as a big puzzling game in which he can invest his time in.⁣ ⁣ In one of the manga specials where L was brought to Wammy's for the first time, he beats up all the children there and when asked why; stated the reason they were being violent towards him. Of course, it wasn't true. They were trying to give him a warm welcome by cuddling him. ⁣ Nice gesture there L.⁣ It's not over here though. After beating up all the children there, he proclaims "I am Justice". ⁣ What does he actually mean by that? ⁣ This incident very much defines him as he grows up to be the world's best detective. It outlines him as who he is, a guy who had a very flawed sense of justice.⁣ ⁣ Another thing about the world's greatest detective is that he almost never expresses any human emotions such as discomfort, shock or awe unlike other characters even Light at times does express them. Yet, when it comes to L's body language, he doesn't even break a sweat. The only time he did was when he saw a Shinigami for the first time and it's understandable. Any cynical character with sociopathic behaviour would be in fear or be shocked. There are several clues in the manga itself where L lacks genuine human feelings. Kind of cold-blooded, isn't it ?⁣ ⁣ One other thing about L is about his pride and the confidence that his deductions are always right aka he doesn't want anyone to prove his inferences wrong. What he thrives for is .... Read more in the comments ! (at India) https://www.instagram.com/p/B8ocgxEFcgZ/?igshid=1m65fp6fq7v0w

"A beautiful mess"⁣ This show is such a mishmash of themes, you can see almost whatever you want in it. In other words, it is open to "interpret in whatever way you want to" and that aspect of the show makes it captivating. And if you all are comparing it to "Evangelion" then my analogy regarding that would be "Darling in the FranXX" is playing tic tac toe while "Evangelion" is playing 3D Underwater Chess. ⁣ Please don't compare them, guys.⁣ ⁣ Back to the topic, I completed watching it a while back and to my surprise, it's just glued in my head. Lurking in my mind, trying to find solace among the chaos, it is 'stuck'. The reason being the character build-ups and the openness to several interpretations. Personally what I do think is that this anime has one of the best, maybe the BEST character-building ever. I resonated with each and every one of them. One of the things what I liked was that the anime tried to examine what was happening between the characters rather than trying to explore the big picture hidden behind the curtains. The narrative of the story provides us with hints regarding what has happened to mankind and a window dressing to what society they all were living in but these are all condemned as an afterthought. It gives us the idea of speculation and opens a new door for our imagination to barge in. One could think of endless possibilities and theories.⁣ ⁣ In a post-apocalyptic world where children are trained to fight against an unknown species, their minds are supposed to be one dimensional. But the perspective they all took, the inner conflicts they raged upon, the new notions that struck them and the road of love they walked on; these made the anime beautiful. The brilliance of the anime was their characters, every single one of them but they had to destroy it for the sake of an action-driven finale arc. The only reason I was watching the last few episodes was for the ending, I wanted the end to be character-driven and boy I wasn't disappointed. It genuinely brought tears in my eyes. ⁣ Read the last few lines in the comments ! (at Ahmedabad, India) https://www.instagram.com/p/B8UKhRilZO-/?igshid=vwgzcnt6x01e

It has been almost six months since I watched "Mirai". And till now I haven't been able to comprehend what I felt when I was watching the movie. I am still covered with a whirlpool of emotions, they are screaming to me. On the surface, I am sitting, calmly listening to them. It has been same all along, nothing has changed. ⁣ ⁣ Jealousy. ⁣ What is it? Simply put, a feeling which lies somewhere between hatred and love. Often to understand this feeling, we have to look into emptiness. But what happens when a child is exposed to this unknown feeling. ⁣ What exaclty the child goes through with the emotion whirling around in his mind ? ⁣ What happens when he encounters his little sister who came from the future ?⁣ Is he able to come back from this lost sense of injustice he was been inflicted upon ?⁣ Is he able to understand the underlying emotions beneath the surface of anger and negligence ?⁣ ⁣ Mamoru Hosada tries to give us the answers the child sought, in a remarkable manner. Through well curated animation and dialogues, here comes an unprecedented tale of a boy who went onto a journey to seek the unknown; wisdom and meaning. A tale of hope and happiness where you can relate to everything. ⁣ ⁣ Talking about animation, for once we thought that it was a "Studio Ghibli" production, because of the art style. But what we found later on was that it is a "Studio Chizu" production and boy thet did an incredible job with the animation. They gave it a very classic look with stunning backdrops. ⁣ Loved every frame of it.⁣ ⁣ The faces we see on the streets aren't created entirely without hope. The movie made us relaise that. There are many underlying themes which focuses on life. Like when Kun is riding a horse and his great grandfather says ⁣ "Don't look down. Look straight ahead no matter what". ⁣ To be honest, we think that this is the best slice of life movie ever made. It swooped us away in the world of lost souls where all of them are trying to live a life they have always wanted to and sometiems failing miserably at it. It certainly is one of the most "complete" anime film ever made.⁣ ⁣ Read more in the comments ! (at Ahmedabad) https://www.instagram.com/p/B8Ou7nWF064/?igshid=jmd08cw6ynaf

"Kyoto Animation" aka "KyoAni" has set benchmarks for several other studios with their brilliant work. If there is a serious contender to "Ufotable Studios" , "KyoAni" is the answer. ⁣ ⁣ The answer is "Hyouka".⁣ Or at least that's what I think. The level of animation which is there in this series prevails everything. Literally everything. I was rooting for this anime series to get at least nominated in the section of "Best Animation of the Decade". But nah, judges love popularity, don't they?⁣ Severely disappointed in them.
