Good old sketch dump while being sick :)
Back at it again with Pilot/Combat medic Maya. I’m departing her from the MCU but still like the idea of her past role as a combat medic.

A bonus of my male OC, Noah. Still under design but it’s getting there >:D

Tying down my Oppenheimer phase—almost there!
Lewis Strauss, play by Robert Downey Jr.
Tumblr media
Amateurs seek the sun. Get eaten. Power stays in the shadows.
—LEWIS STRAUSS
Almost forgot Lewis Strauss because I was saving him for the last of the main casts 💀.
I went into this show knowing full well RDJ involvement in it, trying to convince myself not to think too much of RDJ the actor but focusing on the Lewis Strauss character. Lo and behold, I didn’t even get the chance to relate them together. He managed to make me hate his character so badly seeing him on screen was revolting. From being the most beloved protagonist in the MCU to being the most hated antagonist in Oppenheimer, RDJ pulled it off magnificently. Hope to see him more on screen apart from the MCU in the future 🥹

Kitty Oppenheimer, played by Emily Blunt
-You don’t get to commit sin, and then ask all of us to feel sorry for you when there are consequences.
She knew, and she didn’t even prosecute him for his infidelity. Instead she focused on what was important at that moment. What a legend.
Also the moment Oppie told her to bring in the sheets is just so powerful. Everyone’s performance overall is just magnificent 😩🤌✨.
There’s the interrogation scene that makes me love her even more queen Emily ilysm.

It’s time to start tying down my Oppenheimer Phase. Just the main characters left.
Tumblr media
Jean Tatlock, played by Florence Pugh.
Jean was a bright woman who had her own thoughts and strong-willed. She only appeared in a few scenes in the movie but she left a huge impact in the rest of the movie. I was totally heartbroken to watch her end 🥲.
Jean to Robert:
‘You’re a physicist. You pick and choose rules? Or do you use the discipline to channel your energies into progress?’
‘Don’t alienate the only people in the world who understand what you do. One day you might need them.’
Tumblr media
Robert: We both know I’m not what you want, Jean.
Jean: Yeah, but it’s a door closing.
Robert: No, as far as I concern, no.
(The door did indeed close on her 😔😭)

I’m not dead just got back from a week of depriving myself of drawing to take care of some priorities 😩. It’s somewhat settled now so I’ll finally have time to finish my Oppenheimer dailies.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Dropping my other female OCs here bc I finally got time to draw them 🥹🫶
Miranda, Ariel, and Alex are from a different AU from my current MCU Au. Their story setting is more influenced by Pacific Rim, Cyberpunk, Bladerunner and the likes. Maya also exists in this AU but she will play a smaller role (gotta give my girl some rest).
I do have male OCs but I’m so bad at drawing male characters they’re not coming out of hiding anytime soon lol. One day💀

Young Maya-Stark sketch bc it’s been a while since I draw them.
Also realize I never posted them on Tumblr lmao. In the near future it is. Basically Maya (my OC) was Howard Stark’s friend and lab mate in the SSR and they did fun chaotic stuff together. Compared to adult!Maya, young!Maya is a riot.
Edit: Autocorrect had Stark as Steak lmfao

Dailies but make it ✨Oppenheimer Characters✨ Day 12
Roger Robb, played by Jason Clarke
Tumblr media
Robb: There’s two types of Communist? Intellectual communist and plain old regular commie?
Kitty: Well I couldn’t answer that one. *smirks*
Old senator: Neither could I *chuckles*
Of all the back and forth between him and Oppenheimer, the confrontation with Kitty has a special place in my mind bc the man finally got b✨tch slapped after pulling tricks and placing land mines on her husband 😌
Did a quick one today with skin tone coloring bc I just watched a YouTube vid on color theory but honestly it’s still hard af 😭

Dailies but make it ✨Oppenheimer Characters✨ day 11
William Borden, played by David Dastmalchian
While I doubt anyone liked this character in the movie, one particular scene stood out for me that appeared again at the end of the movie, with Oppenheimer in the pilot seat instead of Borden.
Tumblr media
“During the war I was a pilot. One night flying back from a raid I saw an amazing sight, like a meteor. A V-2 rocket heading England. I can’t help but imagine what it will be, if such an enemy rocket to carry an atomic warhead.”
Borden was probably what we call a conspiracy theorist in the modern day that actually managed to do damage on a real person.
He almost made me believe that he was preventing the use of atomic bomb due to his fear. But reading further into his biography, I found out that he was a strong supporter for the atomic weapon. Which really raises a question as to why he even approached Oppenheimer, the father of the atomic bomb, just to go against him later on.

Daily warm-ups but make it ✨Oppenheimer Characters✨ Day 9&10
Leslie Groves, played by Matt Damon (I might have accidentally Barbie-fied this one)
Tumblr media
There’s so many good conversations and banters between Oppie and Groves that I have a hard time choosing just one iconic phrase. In the end I choose this one. Through out the movie Groves has always shown full support to Oppie’s demands. Even at the very moment that could potentially end the world, despite his fear, Groves still had faith in Oppie and I personally think it’s a beautiful scene :)
Groves: Are you saying that there’s a chance that when we push that button … we destroy the world?
Oppenheimer: The chances are near zero…
Groves: Near zero!?
Oppenheimer: What do you want from theory alone?
Groves: ZERO would be nice!
Day 10:
Niels Bohr, played by Kenneth Branagh, and his most memorable quotes:
Bohr: The power you’re about to reveal will forever outlive the Nazis, and the world is not prepared.
You are an American Prometheus. The man who give them the power to destroy themselves. And they’ll respect that. And your work will really begin.
The world was indeed not prepared for what was coming 🥲.
Tumblr media
Albert Einstein, played by Tom Conti
My favorite conversation between Einstein and Oppenheimer has to be where he confronted Oppie about the interrogation and the one close to the end where he foreshadowed Oppenheimer’s future.
Einstein: I left my country, never to return. You served your country well. If this is the reward she offers you then perhaps you should turn your back on her.
Oppenheimer: Damn, I happen to love this country
Einstein: Then tell them to go to hell.
Einstein: One day, when they’ve punished you enough, they will serve you salmon and potato salad, make speeches, give you a medal, Pat you on the back and tell you all is forgiven. Just remember it won’t be for you. It will be for them.
In conclusion, Einstein got no chill. Whoever spoiled that Einstein is a passive boogie man who pops up here and there were lying.
This quote is an interesting parallel to what Kitty told Oppie when she figured out what was happening:
Kitty: Did you think that if you let them tar and feather you, then the world will forgive you? They won’t.

Aaaand we’re back with ‘Daily warm-ups but make it Oppenheimer characters Day 7&8’ bc my lazy butt forgot to post day 7 yesterday.
First off we have Richard Tolman, played by Tom Jenkins
Richard was Oppenheimer’s friend and the only person who had anything good to say about him to Col. Groves pre-Manhattan project. Which I found quite ironic bc Oppie ended up doing the do’s with his wife 🫠. Sorry Oppie but you sucked for this.
Tumblr media
And the runner up is Patrick Blackett, played by James D'Arcy.
Patrick was Oppie’s mentor when he was at Cambridge. While he was a brilliant physicist who later became a Nobel prize recipient, the demanding work load he put on his students eventually led to Oppenheimer’s (failed) attempt to poison him with a poisoned apple.
