I am finally ready to share a before, and ‘our current’ after. 😁😁 Meet the new and improved Catspaws! ⛵️ After more than three years of hard work, love, and frustration, I can finally go down to my sailboat and not feel like I have to get a project done. The entire goal was to have a ‘Cabin’ on the water to go camping in, just like my childhood. We still have a very long way to go, including some massive fixes to the transom, most of the wiring, and my mainsail is a total mess, but we have a cabin to sleep in, a place to brew coffee, and a foresail so the wind can still play with us. I happen to have the original sail for this boat. It is also on the verge of ripping with a breeze, and seems to be beyond repair. Today I am cutting it up to use the pieces that are good to fix my main sail, which came from a Cal 20. Welp... After 30 minutes of meticulous searching I found the leak. 🙄 This freaking hole has been hiding from me for MONTHS! Water always takes the path of least resistance, which means the water from this leak has been coming out in about 3 spots, so I thought I had three leaks. Nope. Turns out the Through Haul for the water tanks air intake is leaking so badly that the core in the whole wall around it has rotted away. At some point the other side came untreaded and fell off, or it was never there in the first place. 🙄🙄 Now starts the research, what to inject into the wall to solidify what is left of the wood between the fibreglass. Final coat of dem walls!!!! Yahoo!! Painting it grey! After almost FIVE strait days of sanding and painting, I can almost reach the end.. of painting at least. The last picture is a before and after but the grey is soooo light you almost cant tell a difference. But when you stand on the boat, you can tell a difference for sure!!
