I honestly do not think “AI will never be as good as human creativity” is a good argument at this point. Like yes, it is true right now, but they’re just going to keep trying to prove it wrong. To me the line is, “Modern AI is built off of PLAGIARISM, UNPAID and UNDERPAID labor.” AI is a labor rights issue, not just for the people who’s labor it would replace, but for the people whose labor was STOLEN for the AI to “create” anything.

Fanfiction writers (Scriptor fictus) are intelligent animals who need plenty of enrichment as well as encouragement! If they're stuck in poor conditions (e.g. have studies, work, have to actually write to have something written) then they require the proper enrichment to engage in more healthy behaviours, like writing. Remember, due to poor breeding and socialisation, over half of all fanfic writers suffer from low self confidence and executive dysfunction so take care of them!

Give your fanfic writers proper care. Fanfiction writers are a life long commitment.

I love imagining Scanlan’s ventures across the world leading him to random, fleeting encounters with VM members as kids, and quickly forgets them, unbeknownst to him how significant they would be to him.

He’s walking down a road when two half-elven kids in their mid-teens run past him, down and out of sight into one of the dark side alleys. (the bear that’s bumbling behind them knocks him over, possibly leading to his hatred for trinket. Either way, he doesn’t remember)

After just finishing a performance, he hears a loud, booming voice telling him his performance was great - and looking up, he sees what he can only assume is a giant, with a young gnome in her teens perched happily on his shoulders. He tries to find them later, to thank them - he appreciates compliments - but he never does, until he forgets that it even happened.

He’s sat at a bar when a red haired half-elven woman sits at the other end. He’s tipsy, but he vaguely recalls the conversation between her and the bartender. Apparently she has a young daughter, who she hasn’t seen in a year. It’s her birthday today, and she misses her. He quickly decides that he’d be a terrible father, and never, ever wants kids. (He’ll change his mind eventually.)

Word of mouth reaches far - and strangers tend to hear snippets of conversation. Just like when he’d heard an older woman say to a friend ‘Did you hear? Lady De Rolo just had her third child! Another boy!’ He’d quickly forget, after all, it wasn’t important. He’d shrug to himself and say ‘Huh. Good for them.’ and carry on preparing for his next performance.

Spoke to a gen z person the other night and apparently the young folks don't know about the very legal sites from which you can access public domain media (including Dracula, The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, and other Victorian gothic horror stories)?

Like this young person didn't even know about goddamn Gutenberg which is a SHAME. I linked to it and they went "aw yiss time to do a theft" and I was like "I mean yo ho ho and all that, sure, but. you know gutenberg is entirely legal, right?"

Anyway I'm gonna put this in a few Choice Tags (sorry dracula fans I DID mention it though so it's fair game) and then put some Cool Links in a reblog so this post will still show UP in said tags lmao.
