The Why Save Project - Rainforest Posters

Someone once asked me ‘why should I save wildlife?’ There are thousands upon thousands of reasons why and this is when The Why Save Project came about. Through using education and graphic design I will be looking at how these reasons can be communicated in a more effective way to connect people around the world with wildlife that is not necessarily on their doorstep.

Rainforest Posters

Often controversial yet clear messages are avoided in the media, but I believe with the constant destruction of rainforests around the world, this is the kind of approach that needs to be taken to prevent losing rainforests forever. In May 2015 I saw first hand the effects of rainforest destruction to the wildlife of Borneo. Important Orang-utan habitat is being cut down to make way for Palm Plantations in order to farm Palm Oil to meet the demands of human consumption. Orang-utans like most wildlife can’t live in Palm forests, so their homes are being dramatically reduced increasing the human wildlife conflict in certain areas of Malaysia as well as other countries around the world.

Carna Restoration Project Logo

The Carna Restoration Project was set up as a voluntary organisation to help save an antique wooden boat berthed in the waters of Southampton. It allows passionate boat enthusiasts who may not own their own boat, to come together and use their different skill sets to contribute to a rewarding community driven venture.

From the success of my previous logo designs, I was asked to generate a logo that reflected the authenticity of the project as well as the past and future of the boat itself. Drawing inspiration from the idea of a blue-print, the logo picks out the lines of Carna emphasising the humble beginnings of the new project.

Each volunteer who dedicates their time to the project receives a Carna Restoration Project polo shirt with the logo predominantly displayed on the back, to help spread the word about the project and encourage more people to get involved. People who wish to contribute but can't volunteer their skills can also be part of the Carna Restoration Project by buying the polo shirt, where the money paid will be donated to a local charity called The Jubilee Sailing Trust.

Gumball 3000 and Raccoon Vehicle Wraps

The first image is the mock-up design for the Official Gumball 3000 wrap for the 2014 Rally #Miami2Ibiza, and the following photos are from Raccoon who have done a test wrap on a Ferrari F-12.

Originally red, the Ferrari F-12 has been completely wrapped in matte black vinyl, before adding Neon Gloss Pink and Blue strips in keeping with the ‘Miami Vice’ theme of the 2014 Rally.
