Hi and welcome! Thank you so much for the kind words, it always makes me very happy when people resonate and get interested in my ocs, especially Sylvan and Volta! I have some stuff scattered here and there in the #words.txt tag in my pinned, but since I'm actively writing and developing a few stories with them (comics and prose), I might not reveal a whoooole lot just yet since I'll likely be posting updates here. Him and other Foresters basically keep an eye out for poachers and trespassers and whatnot, among other duties. Volta used to work as an automaton "jester" or performer if you will. Shenanigans ensue when Volta decides to pack up and leave :)

I’m finally able to share a piece I worked on last year for a byler/stranger things DnD themed zine that unfortunately got cancelled.

Regardless I had a lot of fun with this one, and my dnd/history nerd heart was quite happy while working on this.

I am a sucker for quiet moments so I wanted to make something about prepping for the next big battle (with a Thessalhydra mayhaps?), or something like that.

A lot of artists have made a lot of great pieces for it, so keep an eye out for some really great dnd art popping up in the tag.

Happy new year! I’ve been expanding on the design of these two a little bit, thinking about potential dynamics and such based off a couple older poster like illustrations I’ve done of them (the last two images).

Caravel (robo) and Julian (human) are live and breathe solar wind racing partly because that’s what their whole life has been and partly out of spite, each bringing their own personal struggles to their duo and to the rest of the racing cohort, as you do.

12, 18, and 28 for sylvan and volta pls 🤲🤲

Helloooo! Thanks for asking these, I had to dig deep for some of them ahah How long have they been around? Do you know their birthday? Is their birthday the day you made them or another day? What do they think of celebrating birthdays?

Volta doesnʻt really have a birthday, since he has gone through a few iterations during his prototyping phase. Later though, after much thinking and being exposed to friends celebrating their own birthdays, he resolves to pick one for his own too. That the day he decided to escape from his life of servitude as the kingʻs plaything feels important enough to be celebrated.

He finds the concept of birthdays fascinating. He naturally keeps track of those he cares about and finds it interesting to find any parallels or differences between people born in different seasons and the connection to the bigger cosmic phenomena and the Numen that are more prominent in those times of year. And he is always so very interested in learning different celebratory customs from other regions and cultures. Sylvan doesnʻt care much for his birthday, since he doesnʻt really remember when that was. He might find out later on as he looks more into his family ties otherwise I do think that at Voltaʻs insistence heʻd pick a date that feels special enough for him. It would probably be some day during the summertime, around which most of his fond childhood memories revolve around.

Their opinion on lying, stealing, and killing?

Such a broad question ahah. Volta generally doesnʻt lie or steal without warrant. He speaks his mind most of the time, but he has no qualms about lying and stealing from figures of authority, especially if he feels theyʻve wronged him or his loved ones in any way. 

Sylvan is sort of on the other end of the spectrum. Being raised in an environment where concealing and taking things from the king (which doesn't extend to just material possessions but also ideologically) was severely punished. So he mostly avoided speaking up in case anything that could be used against him slipped out. As for killing, they both donʻt condone it. Volta is plainly bewildered by the concept of humans take another humanʻs life. Sylvan has never had to take a human life as a Warden but he's witnessed colleagues doing so.

If he’s out hunting, Sylvan will take only as much as he and others in his community need. 

How do they show that they care about someone? How do they express that they don't like someone?

Sylvan isnʻt all that good with words so heʻs big on acts of service. If you're in his good graces, heʻll go out of his way whether or not a need or a want has been expressed. Otherwise he won't be afraid to argue until he feels heʻs proven his point, depending on how much he doesnʻt like you.

Volta is a droid that wears his heart on his sleeve. He shows he cares by offering a kind word or a shoulder to lean on. If he doesn't like someone though he won’t be shy about passive aggressively messing around with them. Once he starts giving you the silent treatment, you know you really screwed things up and it's going to take a while to get him to like you again.
