My utter disappointment with Nessain
So this has been sitting in my drafts for awhile and before CC3 came out so while this is more of me venting my frustration of how they could have worked based on acomaf and acowar but now I never want these two together based what I have seen from people saying what happened in CC3. (And I am fully on the Eris ship) I will say this now, I probably will never read CC series I don't think I have the patience to sit through a 800 page book with a writing style that's not my cup of tea (or the time if I'm being honest) but I have been watching cari can read's videos on these books just so I know things just in case stuff from this series is brought up in acotar now the CC and acotar are connected.
These two just made sense in my head:
Lady Death 🤝 Lord of Bloodshed
A diplomat and a general
A woman who can be prickly on the outside, but a caring, loving person on the inside- a man who is a loving himbo on the outside but a calculating thorough strategist on the inside.
both of them have lots of self-loathing because ✨trauma✨
and yes they got off to a bad start but like there's so many book couples out there that didn't have good first impressions so I waved that away
And I thought Cassian failing to keep his promise to protect Nesta and Elain would be something for Cassian to struggle with
That Cassian's loyalties to the IC and his weird relationship with Mor would be an obstacle for him in his journey to be with Nesta. Nesta and Cassian would get in a big fight about it. Nesta basically saying that "I am your mate why are you not putting me first!" Cassian would learn to get past his weird relationship with Mor.
Both of them learn self-love; Nesta from making friends that are not the IC (gwyn and emerie). Cassian maybe from his mother who is not dead (idk remember if and when his being dead was established). And then they are ready to accept love from each other because they learned to love themselves first.
Cassian had inner monologs noticing how traumatized Nesta was and sympathized with her because he went through the same thing.
They have some of the greatest lines in this whole series:
"I have no regrets in my life, but this. That we did not have time. That I did not have time with you, Nesta. I will find you again in the next world – the next life. And we will have that time. I promise."
Beautiful
the one about him trying to protect her in ACOMAF that for the life me I can't find for some reason
banger
those lines-wasted
One of the few scenes I thought was well written in acosf was when Nesta and Cassian visited the cabin and Nesta talks about her feelings and past and Cassian just listens.
I also thought the solstice scene where he gives her the magical mp3 player was a good scene
But every other scene in this book is shit and not good relationship development
and then to make things worse I read wings and embers after acosf and it made me mad!

When ever I think about Rhys saying "Both sides did bad things." It just reminds me so much of Americans who like to wave away that the confederates in the Civil War were fighting to keep slavery and/or spew The Lost cause Mythology.
For those of you who are not American or maybe never learned this but the Lost Cause mythology is basically lies and rewriting of history that confederates did themselves starting soon after the end of the war to mask their true intentions of the war. Things like, "it was all about slave rights and taxes! The north was being aggressive; during Sherman's march they burned, pillaged, and raped! Slavery wasn't actually that bad and if anything black people needed it!" All of it lies. The real reason they succeeded from the Union was slavery; they wanted to keep slavery and expand it into future states. They wanted to keep it so bad they written it into the confederacy constitution. The fight over slavery started very soon after the revolution ended and then built and built with every compromise on which new states would be free states and which would be slave, the rise in abolitionism, and more laws making it harder for slaves to escape. It exploded when Lincoln was elected President. He wasn't even inaugurated and states had already succeeded. The founding fathers didn't do anything about it because a) some owned slaves b) they believed it would die out because it was expensive, it became super profitable once the cotton gin was invented.
And while the Union initially wasn't fighting for the end of slavery but to keep the union, it only turned to ending slavery because Lincoln recognized as the only way to keep the US together and the Union soldiers who marched through the South who had never been there before saw how awful slavery was and wanted to end it. Yes General Sherman lead a campaign in the South and burned things but the things he burned (from my understanding) were the plantations and a few cities. Slaves who had escaped followed the union army as they moved through the south. I even learned that some point some union soldiers killed the dogs of a plantation that the owner used to hunt down escaped slaves and let his slaves beat him. I'm not going to deny that there probably was stealing and rape happening but there was also reports of confederates stealing too.
The point I'm trying to make is that while the Union wasn't perfect you also can't ignore the fact that the other side was fighting for slavery. That's why it feels similar, both Rhys and some people say, "that side did bad things too." while completely ignoring the fact the other side was fighting to keep the right of enslaving human beings and keeping them like cattle. And in the case of the humans of ACOTAR they were fighting for their freedom as some black union soldiers were fighting for theirs and the rest who were still enslaved.
Feel free to correct me on my facts about the Civil War, it's really only in recent years that historians are trying to fight against the years of lies the Lost Cause created in the American public's conscience. Like it is so pervasive that in the 21st century media has 3 vampire characters that fought on the side of the confederacy and paint them as not that bad. Vampire Diaries in a later season had an episode explaining that Damon didn't want to fight in the confederacy he only did it because his dad forced him. And the only one who questions and confronts Bill in True Blood is Tera and her white friend tells her to stop being rude. Abraham Lincoln vampire hunter is the only one I have seen making wealthy plantation owners vampires and the bad guys. If you want know more about the American Civil war check out Atun-Shei Films and his series called checkmate, Lincolnists on YouTube. He goes through a lot of misconceptions and lies about the civil war while being very honest, down to earth, level headed, and not show favor towards the union or confederacy because he does also talk about each of their faults.

ACOTAR would be better if there was just more gay in it. Like you can't convince me that these immortal creatures are straight as an arrow and never thought of the possibility of doing gay shit.

I was feeling nostalgic this past week about Five Night's at Freddy's because of the release of the movie so I rewatched all of Game Theory's fnaf theory videos. I used to watch those more religiously but I think I kinda grew out of them for a bit so I stopped watching them. But anyways Matpat released a video recently talking about how the theorists in the community have been recently getting a lot of hate because their theories are too out there, or they are using ridiculous details to back up their claims (which is ridiculous bc this is the fnaf universe small details are always important) ect. Matpat theorized maybe why people acting like this is worse than it was in the past is because more people with the S part of the meyers-briggs personality test are joining the fandom. people with the S personality tend to take things at face value and don't look so much at details vs the opposite people the N type analyze and are more detail oriented. This story was a round about way of me wondering if most people on the anti side of acotar are N type and the people on the other side are S. (I personally am N type)

At this point I am only here for Nesta, Lucien, Eris, Emerie, and Gwen; maybe Az but I have no hope for him in future books. And all the crack ships and crazy discourse about who was rhys's first kiss and first fuck.

I just finished reading the Six of Crows duology and it's so good that I am mad at myself for not reading it sooner. I remember when Six of Crows came out. I read the description and thought. "huh that seems interesting I like heist stories and this one is fantasy." and then I didn't read it for 8 years.

the barbie movie and other ppls wacky stories of playing with barbies reminded me of a funny storyline that developed when I played with pollies with my sisters. (We had barbies but we liked playing with pollies more)
On our dinning room table we made a polly town with the polly buildings we had and ellos. My polly was the leader of a circus, one sisters polly- let's call her Amy- was a make over guru, and the other sister's polly-let's call her Tina- was the keeper of the peace bc she had a trench coat. My polly went to Amy's polly for a makeover before one of her big shows. After the show my polly was having a conversation with her boyfriend and at that moment Amy's polly sent a child polly (there are no children pollies we just called this one a child bc unfortunately this polly lost her legs due to us having difficulty dressing her so her legs popped off. In the past we tried gluing them back on but then the legs wouldn't move so we decided to dress broken pollies in dresses and call them children) to tell my polly that she needed to pay for the make over. My polly was like, "one moment I have an important conversation with my boyfriend.". but the child polly kept interrupting and I got irritated so I took the polly from Amy's hand and threw the polly over this plastic fence we had that the pollies were standing near. Then later as the keeper of peace Tina's polly started investigating who threw this child polly over a fence. My polly was brought in for questioning. I don't think my polly got in trouble though bc by that point we were done playing with the pollies.

I don't think I have seen ppl including myself so excited to go to the movie theater in so long. Like two amazing original films out in theaters (Barbie and Oppenheimer), haunted mansion which I was worried was going to be a rehash of the Eddie Murphy one but it looks like it has completely different story with a strong cast, and Indiana Jones is a good emotional good bye to a beloved franchise. And thank you to the writers and actors strike for delaying a long list of remakes, sequels and MCU movies.
