i know many of you think percy is the gossip guy, but in the books he usually doesn’t really care about what’s going on in other people’s lives that much. he cares about his friends obviously, but he doesn’t ever give off the vibes of being someone who would enjoy gossip and drama at all. i feel like he’s the “i didn’t ask” guy. like tell me this isn’t how it would go

annabeth: oh good you’re home! how were the guys?

percy: good. i tried to teach frank to skateboard. it… it didn’t go very well. that guy is strong as fuck but he has terrible balance!

annabeth: i could have told you that. is anything new with any of them?

percy: i don’t know. not really? although when we were watching the game, chris mentioned him and clarisse broke up. it was right before halftime when-

Thinking about Peter in NWH and how going to Dr Strange and asking for a magical mind wipe of the whole world was an easier ask for Peter than going to the Dean and asking them to reconsider his application

The only thing wild about that situation is that Dr.Strange ~Sorcerer Supreme~ is an adult Peter feels comfortable asking for help (and it’s understandable given the circumstances)

Hc that John and Ella think exclusivity in concepts (rather than words or even images) because their telepathy has taught them to. I think everyone probably has a different signature when it comes to how they think and there’s a lot of variety in people’s thought processes so it’s easiest for them to communicate via concepts and that trains them to think that way all the time. Nine probably does this too to some extent because of his telepathy with animals, but I feel like he uses telepathy less frequently than John (John lives with BK it’s not hard) or Ella (love that girl but she’s got a tendency to…overstep)

This presents a problem when they have to translate those concepts into words. This leads to some pretty funny strings of words as they try to find the right ones. Sometimes they are straight up at a loss for words because they can’t find the right ones and there have even been miscommunications because they used odd wording.

And then throw being polyglots on top of that…

man okay five things that make me happy. that's actually a lot easier than it used to be. In no particular order:

my cat, Bambino, he's about 7 months old now and is my baby boy

riding my motorbike, even if only around the corner to the train station

spending time with my sister-in-law, even if we're just rotting on the couch next to each other with some dumb show int he background. she is good company

in the same vein, my brother and sister-in-law's dogs, Shiba and Sabbath. Shiba is almost five and Sabbath is just about five months.

playing dnd and VTM with my little gaggle of internet friends (or even just all bopping in our corners of the internet while we talk about our blorbos and playing with them like dolls)

I love this !!

1. reading - I'm currently obsessed with percy jackson so I've been working my way through that universe (read the pjo books, the hoo books, cotg, and a few others) but I've been reading other things as well!! I read looking for alaska by John Green its SO GOOD. but yeah I love reading so much it's a nice way to escape and it's very comforting.

2. my friends!! - very cliché but I love all my friends, irl and online, and they bring me so much joy :)

3. art - I love art in any form, drawing, painting, sculpting, crafting. its just so relaxing and uplifting when i know what I want to draw (however doing art in school has ruined it slightly...)

4. talking to silly people in my phone about things we share an interest in - I love tiktok, tumblr, twitter, and Instagram bc i can find people that have similar interests to me and just yap away at them!!

5. my cat <3 - I love him so much he's the best boy ever but unfortunately he's not very well rn which isn't making me very happy but other than that he comforts me and does silly things and makes me laugh

Knitting. It’s relaxing and keeps my hands busy when I’m watching tv. I have a huuuge project on the go rn but I pause it occasionally to do fun little projects. I made a mushroom hat for my sister at Christmas and I’m really proud of it

Reading! I’m in a bit of a slump in terms of completing actual books, mostly because of schoolwork, but I’ve been enjoying fanfics. Also, I’m working my way through Brandon Sanderson’s cosmere

Listening to music! I like to listen whenever I have to walk somewhere

Kayaking - my mom, sister and I have started doing this together a bit. I also like going solo around my grandparents’ cottage (often combined with swimming or occasionally listening to music if I’m feeling brave)

I’d really love a book series parallel to pjo that follows Jason in Camp Jupiter. Maybe from about the time he joins the Legion (there’s no way he was allowed to join at 2) to his defeat of Kronos.

I think a lot of why people like Percy better than Jason is because we got to be in his head and see him grow over the course of 5 years and then his POV in HoO on top of that. It’s also why I think some people see Percy as more powerful — we got to see him achieve incredible feats because he was the main character and RR tends to make his main characters exceptional.

If Jason was given a similar chance to shine I think we’d love him just as much. Also it would be just be cool to see Camp Jupiter and the CJ characters in that era.

the fact that people don't like Jason Grace PAINS me.

like you clearly just don't understand how complex his character is. of course he's not going to have the most interesting personality, his memory was wiped?? your personality is a compilation of all the things they've experienced and all the people you've met, if he forgets everything, how is he supposed to be really interesting?? and let's not forget that he was raised to be a soldier and a leader from 2 years old, giving him no chance to choose who he would be. the parts of Percy that we could recognise when he lost his memory, are the integral parts of who he is, such as being sarcastic, and loving annabeth - it's the same with jason. we see his need to do what's right whilst still following the rules, we see the almost artificial perfectness he's been conditioned into, we see his deep kindness and loyalty to those he loves, we see his trust in others through him believing what piper and Leo tell him despite having no memory of any of it.

we're told that he has self-confidence issues, and that he feels as though everyone thinks so highly of him and he struggles under the weight of that, he was abandoned by his mum, lost his sister, was raised a machine. he's just as complex as your favourites yet he gets so much hate.

he is such a tragic character and it hurts me that people don't understand how beautiful he is.

#I think Jason either stays with Lupa for a few years #or Lupa takes him to New Rome and he’s raised by a foster family #I think the former is more interesting #either way I hc that he’s still the youngest by far when he joins the legion #like he’s eight years old and all raw power #this would be a challenge for Rioden to stay in the confines he’s established for the Romans and Jason #like he’d probably be tempted to make the gods more active outside of quests #and making sure Jason’s character development puts him in a place by the end of it that his arc in HoO makes sense #jason grace #hoo #heroes of olympus #percy jackon and the olympians #pjo #we’d get to see Reina arrive and rise up through the ranks too #and their bond

Imagine Annabeth and Percy have a kid early, unplanned and it kinda fucks with their finances so Percy drops out of school to get a job so he can care for the kid and support Annabeth in school. At first he gets a job teaching kids sword fighting but then he hears about underwater welding which pays well because it’s dangerous but Percy is a child of the sea so it’s much less so for him. His boss is even willing to give him flexible hours which means Annabeth doesn’t have to take their kid to class anymore and they can actually afford daycare (why does is it the price of a mortgage nowadays???). A huge financial burden is lifted and Percy doesn’t mind the work so it’s good all the way around.

Fast forward to when Annabeth is done her masters in architecture and lands a job at a top firm. They’ve got savings and have Annabeth’s income to rely on. Percy heads back to school and finishes a degree in marine biology, going on to research some really niche topics like how underwater welding impacts the environment and shifting from there until he’s a well known expert in the field.

Just them finding their way. Supporting each other and landing on their feet no matter what

#i really like the idea of Percy having a non-linear path through school to a career #he’s 17 #just because Annabeth knows what she wants to do doesn’t mean he does #let him find his path #also if Percy and Annabeth had an accidental baby #(completely possible once they’re at New Rome though I do believe they’re careful and responsible about it) #and if they couldn’t survive with the baby on scholarships + Fredrick’s money for Annabeth + what little Sally and Paul can spare #I think Percy would be the one to drop out for a full time job #and then go back to school once they’re stable #also I just generally think Percy would be the primary parent so Annabeth could really pursue her career #and because Annabeth’s job probably pays more and has more earning potential #percy and annabeth #percy jackson #percy jackon and the olympians #pjo #percabeth #post HoO
