Died In My Sleep (Eren x Reader)

In a perfect world there you are, living your best life with him by your side. He often takes himself to that place when he’s stressed, in this world he's in your arms; you are warm as well as proud of him and he’s no longer cold and alone.

If he was granted access to a Heaven that doesn’t exist it would have been a place where you would stay with him. You were there and as alive as you can be. You two would live as close as you could to a beach that wasn’t littered with warships, the air is salty and Eren is finally home. 

Eren can only wish for Heaven to exist, every night before he goes to bed he prays to a God that isn’t Ymir in hopes you are there waiting for him, welcoming him with open arms with Carla by your side. 

When he wakes up he’s still in the hospital in Marley, D-Day inching closer and closer each day. At this point the days blur for Eren, the days are dull and the only significant point is talking to the young boy named Falco. 

But when the day’s done, when he’s no longer feeding Falco his plans in discreet ways, he dreams of you. He dreams of what should’ve been, what could’ve been Heaven.

If it was his choice he would sleep for eternity, he would sleep till the world ended in a way that wasn’t going to be his fault, and even then he would still try to sleep more to remain in those warm arms of yours. It’s been years since your passing but to avoid forgetting your voice he always remembers your hums, you hummed while you cooked, cleaned, and simply for fun. You enjoyed music and even wrote your own, you would hum your melodies to him that you would’ve turned into songs for people to enjoy had you owned an instrument of your own. 

Each morning before he wakes up you hum your last melody to him, and there he was alone in that lonely and cold room. And his heart breaks more and more each time. 

“Please don’t wake me up.”

This was inspired by the song Sleepyhead by Jutes, I had so much fun writing this, and I hope you guys like it too. I love writing for Eren sm he's my biggest obsession right now.

He absolutely adores the way you taste (in more ways than one).

Savors every last bit of you, and would never murder you for the sake of quick consumption.

He finds people similar to you to devour to satisfy his needs, he's almost addicted to you.

"Please forgive me, my love." He says while he sinks his teeth in to get a taste of your blood combined with stray pieces of your flesh.

He cries sometimes too when he takes from you for the day, he hates when you're in pain so he usually gives you painkillers of various doses to ease your aching pain.

The guilt he feels is intense seeing your family search for you but he convinces himself that you're better off with him in his care.

By month two your body is covered in 'love' bites from him, some deeper than others but all the same.

He never lets you go outside but occasionally lets you sit by the windows when theres nobody outside that can he see you, you watch him do yard work while you sit by the window too!

He feeds you such well prepared meals that help with your iron as well, he always makes sure you're well taken care of.

He would remain on his knees till they were stiff and bruised if it meant you'd praise him, and you certainly did.

You didn't know where you were, one second you were at war and now you're outside; in front of you was a little house on the countryside.

A little girl came outisde and said her father wanted to speak to you, her father? Who was she and who was her father?

The little girl had the brightest green eyes and long brown hair, she looked just like Eren if he had been a little girl. She must have been around ten years old.

"Who are you little one?" You asked.

Her head turned to the side, "Alana? Your daughter? Are you okay?"

You gasped, when did you have a child? This must have been a dream.

You then decided to follow her into the home that must be yours to find Eren holding a second child, this one was less than a year old. According to Alana this was a baby boy named Noah.

"Eren?"

"Hey, come upstairs with me. I want to talk to you. Alana will be alright."

You nodded and he got up and began to make his way upstairs with Noah in hand.

As you walked to the stairs there were pictures on the walls of your little family, Alana as a baby where Eren holds her proudly. His first and only girl, and then another set of photos of you three adoring Noah.

This is exactly the life you want, a boy and a girl with Eren.

You find yourselves in your shared bedroom, there you see your wedding photos showcased, these photos were in beautiful white and gold frames. You fell in love in such a special way.

"I wanted to do this for you." He broke the silence which brought you back to reality. You remembered this wasn't real. Eren did this.

"Thanks..." You held back your tears, this would be your last moments with Eren and you won't even remember them.

"I would've loved having our own Alana and Noah." He chuckled.

You nodded, you wanted to beg him to stay but you know that wasn't possible.

"C'mon, answer me. Don't be so cold."

You didn't know what to say or what to do. You wanted to hug him, kiss him goodbye, or even ask him to somehow keep you here forever. You wanted him to stay with you forever.

The false reality he made for you can become real, if you two simply stayed there.

"No, we can't stay my love. This was just for a little bit, everything is temporary." It felt like he read your mind, but he simply loved you and your mind so much that he knew the way you thought.

You balled your hands into fists, you wanted to yell about how this wasn't fair and how this wasn't fair at all for anyone.

You burst into tears, you can't hate him. You saw him grow into such a selfless and dumb man, you can't ever bring yourself to hate him.

"I love you, I've loved you so much for so long."

"I know, I gave you our dream. One of many."

You didn't want to let go, not yet. Eren had all this power, all you wanted was more time. You needed more time.

He put Noah down in his crib and walked over and held you one last time, before he disappeared this was the exact way he held you. He caressed the back of your head with one hand and used his free arm to wrap his hands tighter around your waist.

It feels the exact same way because this is how he held you before he left, now he's leaving for good.

"Please, Eren." You begged one last time.

"No, (Y/N)." He said.

You could feel your shared dream coming to end now, his grip getting lighter and the sounds of Alana giggling downstairs and Noah cooing fading out. This was it, this is the closest you'll get to having a family with him.

"Do you think we'll see each other again?"

"Maybe..."

This answer was good enough for you, you finally let yourself let go of him once and for all. But if it was up to you, you'd die in his arms with him. You'd let him sacrifice you for humanity had he asked.

"Goodbye, Eren. I'll miss you."

You were back where you once were, and from a distance there was Mikasa holding his head sobbing.

There will be no seeing each other again.

Eren love love loves giving you small or major gifts because he thought of you, when you guys were younger he would bring you a flower or even a rock because he thought you would have liked it.

Eren enjoys doing things for you even if you didn't ask him to. When you guys eventually moved in together he took up most of the house chores, except for cooking. He almost started a house fire once. He simply enjoys working hard in all aspects for you. You deserve the best from him and only him.

Eren loves to love you, he tells you every single day how great you are and how much he adores you. He loves praising you above everything else. He needs you to know you're doing good always. You never have to doubt his love for you around him, even during arguments.
