I know this Author’s notes looks long, but please don’t panic. It’s just an update, I’m still working on Belladonna. 😊👍🏻💖🙆🏻‍♀️

This is an update to let y’all know how things been going with Belladonna’s Chapter 31. It is still unfortunately incomplete, but I promise I’m trying! 🌚🙏🏻 Still ironing out some details and Chinese New Year is coming, so spring cleaning and stuff is in order. So update is probably after February. 🌚🙏🏻 I’m very sorry. 🙃😔😭🙏🏻

These three paragraphs only regards my health in slightly more detail than the previous post, (why I haven’t been able to update) so you can just skip it if you’d like. 🙆🏻‍♀️💖 As I mentioned previously, my health has been fluctuating since June 2023, I haven’t been feeling very well so my writing took a hit (on top of writer’s block). 😩🫠 The symptoms thankfully wasn’t too serious, all things considered.🤞🏻My fatigue however was the most obvious, there was also low moods, insomnia (caused by heart palpitations) and etc. However, I’ve gotten my blood tested around November and I finally know what’s going on. So at least I now know how to reduce and regulate the symptoms, I’ve seen improvements and hopefully I’ll make a full recovery soon. 🙆🏻‍♀️💖🙏🏻

But then at the end of December, I was tested positive with covid. 🌚🌚🌚🫠🫠🫠 So my fatigue worsened. At this point it’s like a triple layered stack. First from my nightly dreams, second from the issue that started in June, then now from the covid. 🫠 I have tested negative after 6 days, but my doctor did warn me that some symptoms and inflammation will probably persist for about a month after turning negative and to not do strenuous exercises, (even something simple like brisk walk). I found out sometimes just eating a meal brings me shortness of breath and my heart rate would reach 106 or so and then I gotta lie down. Feels like my heart was copying that one meme on Facebook and saying, “If you don’t stop, I will.” 😮‍💨🌚🤣 The same goes for house chores, like changing the bedsheets. So yeah. But I’m still kicking—albeit weakly—AND my low moods had thank god not plagued me lately. 💖😮‍💨🙏🏻 Bless.

I’ll be trying to get a swing back into things while minding my energy, so my health doesn’t decide to give me a sucker punch to the gut. Or a left hook, I don’t know, it’s been years and it still likes to catch me by surprise. 🌚🤷🏻‍♀️🤞🏻 Despite the annoyances, I’m still very thankful it’s nothing too serious. At this point, I’ll just let it throw a fit wherever it wants, and then let it die down whenever, while trying to get on with my life and maintaining inner peace. 🙄😑🤦🏻‍♀️🤌🏻 I’m done trying to control it to go the way I want it to, cuz it backfired, badly. 🌚

Anyways, thank you all so much and I really really appreciate the immense patience, love and support my dear readers has shown for my stories. 💖🙆🏻‍♀️🍀 I know I haven’t been updating as much as I would have liked, nor anticipated, after I graduated from school five-years-turning-six-years ago, in fact I thought I’d be able to churn out more chapters, guess I sorely underestimated the full extent of the symptoms my health could throw at me. 🙃😔

I wish everyone good health—seriously please take good care of yourself, and may all the lovely and nice things in life, be it big or small, be enjoyed, celebrated, and appear whenever you need it. 🥰🙆🏻‍♀️🌈💖🌻🍀

I want to take this chance to announce there will be delays for Belladonna’s Chapter 31. I’m not sure how long I’ll need, but probably at least a month and more due to my fluctuating health. Also the writer’s block for this chapter was simply not cooperating. 😭😭😭 But I’m still writing and I want to, just trying to organise and squeeze some words in whenever my fatigue didn’t have a chokehold on me. 🫠🙏🏻💖

My health has been a roller coaster ride especially these past three months. 🫠 Apart from the constant dreams every night since six years ago, I now even have have a hard time trying to fall asleep on occasion. 🤦🏻‍♀️ Went to get some blood tests done, so I’m following up with my doctor soon. 🙏🏻

Hi, I just wanted to say that I love Belladonna. And I ADORE Retsu!

I really love her name as well, it reminds of Retsu Unohana from Bleach and my brain was just like 'i have connected the dots' even though I didn't connect anything 🤣. Her human form looks so much like Yōhime, it's so cute. Also, how she was fully ready to go all Machiavellian on Rikuo if Gyūki didn't.

Also her Kuromaru and Ibaraki Dōji trauma is real. Everything is like "oh this situation is not as bad as with the two then it's fine". Miss girl, there's setting the bar low and setting the bar so low that Sanmoto can reach it from hell.

ALSO THE MULAN REFERENCE WHEN RIKUO FELL FOR AN ILLUSION. GAAAAH I LOVE IT. Considering Nurarihyon is an Aizen-like illusion youkai, shame on you indeed, Rikuo!

OOOH AND THE CAMEOS OF OTHER ANIME CHARACTERS. RENGOKU IN A TRAIN WITH YOUKAI IN IT IS SO FUNNY.

When I first started this story, I had pondered for quite a while on what MC’s name should be. I know I’d like to keep the Nura family’s tradition of having their descendants’ name start with a “Ri” sound as a nod at Nurarihyon, but there weren’t many names starting with a “Ri” sound that really called out to me. Then I remembered the running gag that is Yōhime’s volcanic temper and kinda wanted their granddaughter’s name to have something that included both her predecessors. So I looked up on names with a more fiery meaning and ended up with “Rekka” and “Retsu”. The latter name rhymed better with Nura so hence, how Nura Retsu was born. 🤣

While I was searching, I also found Retsu Unohana from Bleach and she’s Soul Society’s best healer and a fearsome master swordsman, so that’s when I thought, “I think that’s the one, that’s the name.” 🤩

Young Rihan is practically a male version of his mother, and he’s a cute kid until he opened his mouth, and everyone goes, “He’s got her looks, but everything else is all Nurarihyon.” I thought it’d be funny for the Nura Clan to see a repeat this. There goes a small and cute Retsu, running around in the gardens, lulling the members into a false sense of serenity, “Awww~ look a mini-Yōhime”, but NOPE, her sense of humour is all Nurarihyon. Impending headache. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Glad you liked the part about Gyūki. 😆🤣 I mean, Retsu’s desperate, not as desperate as poor ol’ Gyūki yet, but she’s getting there if Rikuo doesn’t snap outta it soon.

Retsu be like “If I can deal with those two psychopaths at the age of six and live to tell the tale, I can deal with anything that comes at me when I’m older and stronger.” 😤

I remember that whenever I saw anime characters making cameos in other anime/manga/fanart/etc, it always never failed to make me smile and giggle like I just stumbled upon a hidden treasure. So I like to slot them in every now and then. 😆🤣💖

Heyyy! ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Thank you so much for your support and I’m doing well! 💖💖💖🙆🏻‍♀️ Well kinda, I had food poisoning twice within two weeks 🫠 though I’m better now. 💖 Life caught up a little so my time was spilt elsewhere for a while, and also, writer’s block had me in a chokehold, I‘ve been trying to wriggle free. 🌚🤦🏻‍♀️😩😭

Chapter 30 had been rewritten 3, 4, maybe even 5?—I’m not too sure and I wrote quite a bit only to completely scratch it😭—times by now and I think I finally got a draft that I would roll with. Honestly, I never expected Tōno arc to be so uncooperative with me since it’s one of my favourite arcs. 🌚🥲💔 Conversations and story structure aren’t flowing as smoothly as I would have liked and there some parts I’m debating on whether I need to add in anything. So yeah, more research and flipping through my old notes to double check things. 📚📖📒

I really hope I’m able to wrestle writer’s block away for long enough to get this chapter out, because Kyōto arc should be in chapter 31 if things go according to plans. 💪🏻 Praying hard inspiration isn’t as stingy with me as it did this arc. 🙏🏻🌚 I’m honestly not too sure when the next chapter will be out since I’m practically starting over from scratch. 🫠 I feel like it may be less than 10,000 words this time, if so, I might just be able to update in about maybe a month or so? But if I started trolling myself again, it may take more. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Really sorry for the long wait, I didn’t want this to happen either. 🌚😭🫠🙏🏻🤦🏻‍♀️😩 The story just isn’t flowing. 🥲

I’m doing okay so far, writers block finally receded yesterday. 😩 Before it left, my sentences weren’t flowing too well and the POVs narration was jarring. 😭😭😭🤦🏻‍♀️ There are more third POVs than there is Retsu’s POV this time. I’m happy to say that Chapter 29 is nearly completed! 💖 There is ONE LAST section left and after that is extra proof-reading!

Was not expecting it to take this long IMSOSORRY 😭🙏🏻 I added some bits from the Novel and translation was hell because I was being picky. But I should be able to upload it this week!

Thank you for checking in on me! 💖🙆🏻‍♀️ I was writing right now actually haha. 🤣 I don’t know why but my urge to write always comes late at night. 🌚🌚🌚 After 5pm to maybe even 4/5am in the morning. I need to readjust my sleep schedule again. 🌚🤦🏻‍♀️😩

For the past two weeks, my mood was on the low side and my inspiration went elsewhere (drawing and sewing) and sadly, writers block was back for a while, so I had been binge reading mangas to try and alleviate it. It had worked before and I can feel some inspiration coming back. 🎉

I’ve made some progress on the new chapter, but sometimes I still feel like the chapter is missing some important thought processes (there will be more POVs this time), I really need to get in their shoes so I’ve kept editing those for a long while. 🌚😭 The chapter is starting to come together so hopefully, maybe, fingers crossed, I can finish everything and upload by end of October. 🙏🏻 Prays hard.

Awww thank you! 💖🙆🏻‍♀️ But I’ll be honest, chapter 29 will most definitely be over 10,000 words by the time I’m done. 🌚 It’s already 9000 and I’m only about halfway done. 🌚🌚🌚 I trolled myself once again.

I did not count in that I was also going to translate some of the Chinese NNM novel into English, so that ate up quite some time, and I’ve only completed 3 sections. I have 3 more large sections that needs translation check and also writing the connecting parts. My memory retention has been acting up lately, so I tend to forget what I wrote in the previous paragraph, so some time flew away there. 😭🤦🏻‍♀️ Just the day before, I even forgot I already ate my dinner and had half a mind to search for a place to eat. No worries I do recall that I ate, like half a second later, there’s just something I haven’t done in that venue. 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️

I’ve also been a little caught up with life, so the past two weeks I barely finished one section. 😩😭😭😭 I’m sorry, I’ll be needing a few more weeks, proof-read time included. 😩🙏🏻 I’ll do my best, just a while longer! I want this chapter out too! 💖🙏🏻
