Kiss Me Under the Sun (Jeongin x Reader)

Request: Can I kiss you? and I’m so in love with you

Word count: 1033

You had been surprised when Jeongin showed up at your door on a perfectly fine weekend but when he proposed going to the arcade you were immediately on board. It’s late in the afternoon but you were still in pajamas, they were incredibly comfortable so why wouldn’t you really. You reappear completely changed and Jeongin lets out a heavy breath when he kisses your forehead. 

When you question him Jeongin’s face lights red like a strawberry. He stumbles over his words for a moment, almost running into your front door, before actually speaking.

“You just look really good.” He settles on saying. 

“Aww baby, you’re so cute!” You coo.

Jeongin bats away your grabby hands with a childish expression. As you step in and the smell of cooked carnival-like foods invades your senses an idea pops into your head.

“Innie, we should have a competition!”

“Competition?” Jeongin questions.

“Competition,” you confirm, “whoever gets the most tickets in 15 minutes wins. Prize is… getting something from the other person, so start thinking now.”

Jeongin briefly squeezes your hand then steps away so you’re facing each other. A grin slowly takes over his face and his eyes are playfully fierce. 

“3, 2, 1, go!” He shouts and bursts out running in the other direction. 

You take a different path and hope that wherever you are gives higher payouts than his will. You only cross paths a couple of times, in which you passingly hold up whatever tickets have been collected, but otherwise, you only see him in glimpses between machines.

It’s surprising how quickly 5 or so minutes can pass between each check of your phone. Soon enough you’re heading back to the front to wait for Jeongin. He shows up and all of his tickets have completely disappeared, or they aren’t in his hands at least. 

He was smiling before but when he sees your bewildered face he starts cackling. He manages to gesture to a corner of chairs so you can sit down and compare. You are once again hit with how fun it is to be with him. Silly moments of trying to count faster or louder than the other leaves you both in fits of giggles. 

A few moments later and you arrive as the victor by a slight margin. There’s something in Jeongin’s expression for a moment when the tickets are counted but you’re excited to win. You lean back against the wall and tap your chin thinking about what you want. 

You gasp and straighten up, “I know! There was that big dolphin plush at the front, can you go get it for me Innie?” 

Before you can even put on a cute expression Jeongin is standing to get it for you. He laughs at your momentary surprise and pats your head before heading off. Your expression melts as you watch him go and you’re sure anyone looking at you could see how much you absolutely adore him. Eventually boredom sets in and you ponder why he’s taking so long but quickly move on to the riveting task of counting the ceiling tiles. 

You specifically avoided your phone because from the second date you and Jeongin agreed these times were for each other and each other only. Nothing is out of the ordinary when Jeongin finally plops back down in front of you and dumps the large plush in your lap. 

You hear him laugh fondly when you make some excited sounds and you peer around to see him staring at you. 

“It better not replace me as your new cuddle buddy,” he says jokingly. 

You reach out to grab his hand gently, “never.”

The windows at the front begin to display the setting sun and so Jeongin helps you stand. He moves to your side and sneakily kisses your forehead before skipping out to the doors. You hastily go after him determined to get the kiss you deserve. 

Like the little devl he is Jeongin stays just out of reach in front of you. Then you hit a crosswalk and suddenly he’s an angel again as he takes your hand and warns you of approaching curbsides. Hope creeps up on you but when you can finally go for it he’s off like a shot again, laughing freely at the yell you let out. 

You play this game alll the way and secretly you love the way Jeongin dances in and out of your sights and how he lets you in to the joy he experiences. 

Once you get outside your place he stops you awkwardly but still stays silent after a prod or two from you. 

“Can I kiss you?” 

“You’re like a nervous middle school boy! Of course you can, Innie.” 

It’s not the first time you’ve kissed and so you slot comfortably together. Jeongin’s hands rest on your face and your grip his shoulders. You pull away for a moment to breathe but Jeongin tugs you back in making you both breathless. Finally he stops, pulling away slightly and smiling.

“I’m so in love with you.”

You gasp and Jeongin’s eyes widen as he takes a quick step back.

“I said that way too soon, oh no. You don’t have to say it back. Actually can we pretend I didn’t say it at all?” Jeongin rushes.

The words come out so fast you can barely understand, combined with the shock. You take a step forwards and lean into him. It stops the flow of words that you had stopped listening to. As you take his hands in yours and look at him you know.

“I love you, too.” 

Jeongin looks at you and surprise colours his face. His face morphs as your words truly sink in and abruptly he pulls you to his chest and squeezes you so tightly it almost hurts. Yet at the same time you feel safe, knowing that it’s him with you and holding you, always.

He leans back and looks into you eyes with his eyes shining and smile as wide as it can be. You mirror his expression and happiness runs through your veins.

“I love you.” He says. 

Under the setting sun you repeat his words. I love you.

City Love

It's a perfect evening to go out and tour the streets. You may have been living here for quite a while, but everything changes, and you honestly don't get out enough, so it feels new all the time. Many other people seem to have the same idea, and so you and Bomin interlock hands at the first sign of foot traffic.

Nothing has been quite interesting enough to catch your eye, but it's getting colder, so you might have no choice. Before that can happen, somebody calls your name, and a friend comes up behind you.

You introduce him to Bomin, who has been quiet but not silent to this point and give him a semi-awkward high five + handshake.

You chat, and Bomin hangs a little bit behind you and plays with anything in reach. His hoodie, your hoodie, your hands.

Eventually, you part ways and walk around him, beginning to hum. Looking forwards, there is a bright city stretching farther than you could ever see. It sparks a kind of light in yourself, and looking at Bomin beautifully illuminated by even the worst neon lights… it seems everything will be just fine. After a while of short answers from Bomin, you pull him to the inside edge of the sidewalk and look at him suspiciously. It takes him a moment to respond, but when he does, his face pulls into a sheepish but determined expression.

You take an extra moment to observe him and how he has let you in enough so that you can recognize even the smallest facial change.

"So, what's up?" You ask simply.

Bomin continues to tap his finger on yours and chews his lip absent-mindedly but stays silent.

"I just got jealous of you and him. I know that I shouldn't and that you're with me, but… sometimes you look like you'd be perfect with someone else."

You lightly tap his cheek a couple of times, and he turns his head slowly to look at you.

"Thank you for talking to me about this, but I promise you he's just a friend. Also, babe, it doesn't matter who I look perfect with on the outside because we're good together, and I want to be with you."

He nods, and you pull his hand to keep walking.

"I don't want to be a jealous person, and I'll try to keep what you said in mind. Thank you."

Bomin speaks lowly, but you could hear his voice even among a thousand others, so you hear him clearly. Neither of you says anything else, and instead, you pull him along and ramble excitedly about something your friend had told you.

Bomin may not be perfect, but he's more than enough for you.
