i think i've finally figured out what takes fanservice from tolerable to intolerable for me, it's when its in otherwise non-sexual scenes. like if a show does the "oh noes the MC tripped and grabbed her boobies!!!" thing i can just roll my eyes and keep watching relatively unfazed, but if there's just a completely average scene except that there's a pantyshot it puts me off. obviously it's also a matter of degree though, like if every other scene is a shoehorned fanservice scene i won't wanna watch the show, and likewise if the fanservice in normal scenes is subtle enough i can tolerate it

i was finally able to watch skinamarink, i liked it a lot but i feel like i'm missing something. not in like a film theory/ending explained/five things you missed in skinamarink!!1!!1 way, just that a lot of people seem to have had this visceral reaction to it whereas for me it was more just mildly unnerving. the last ~30 minutes were brilliant and very scary though, and i certainly didn't dislike the rest of it, i just didn't quite see what everyone else saw. i was never rlly into the whole liminal spaces thing so maybe i just didn't know the film's language so to speak

does Amphibia have a slow start or is it just not for me?

i've tried to watch it like 3 times and I've never made it past the 3rd episode. I want to like it, I like a lot of shows that are said to be similar to it, but obviously I can't force myself to enjoy it. so yeah, is it worth giving it another shot or would I just be wasting my time?

the commodification of friendship is the most annoying thing to come out of the internet in ages. like actually i love to break this to you but you're supposed to help your friends move even if it's hard work. or stay up with them when they're sad even if you're gonna lose sleep. you're supposed to listen to their fears and sorrows even if it means your own mind takes on a little bit of that weight. that's how you know that you care. they will drive you to the airport and then you will make them soup when they're sick. you're supposed to make small sacrifices for them and they are supposed to do that for you. and there's actually gonna be rough patches for both of you where the balance will be uneven and you will still be friends and it will not be unhealthy and they will not be abusive. life is not meant to be an endless prioritization of our own comfort if it was we would literally never get anywhere ever. jesus.
