This whole fanbinding thing is wild. Imagine taking something you know someone put a ton of work into and CAN'T get paid for and giving money to someone who happened to bind it/would bind it, neither of you even bothering to get permission. Binding for yourself is a grey area, doing it for someone else is no different than reposting a fic without permission. God, readers can be such unrelenting, entitled assholes.

As a kid, when your parents are poor, you're poor. If they don't have money, that means none of you have money. But if someone's parents are rich, that doesn't necessarily mean the kid is. Sometimes rich peoples' kids aren't rich kids, they're just some rich freak's exotic pets that can talk but aren't allowed to.

the best part of jon chapters is the frequency at which he does something completely physically impossible with absolutely no commentary. jon does not know that regular people cannot throw a pillow at a wall so hard it literally explodes so he’s just like anyway oh boy time for another day of iron bank loan paperwork and counting beets!

My boyfriend is trying to explain cricket to me again. “He’s only got two balls to make 48 runs”, he says. The camera focuses on a man. Underneath him it says LEFT ARM FAST MEDIUM. A ball flies into the stands and presumably fractures someone’s skull. “There’s a free six”, my boyfriend says. 348 SIXES says the screen. A child in the audience waves a sign referencing Weet-Bix

That's a plucked and headless large piece of meat and bones? That's not the equivalent of a whole dead bird to most people, if someone reanimated that it wouldn't do anything because it has no head. It's like seeing an organ for donation and saying you saw a dead body.
And if that is what someone is referring to, then that's still an everyday thing for a massive amount of people around the world? I could go out to a restaurant right now and get a bird that still has some bird features on it. There's people who reassemble KFC buckets when serving them for fun. It's not a one day a year thing?
That last post reminded me of this AO3 discourse I saw where people were insisting "dead dove: do not eat" should only be used for disturbing stuff, not just obvious stuff.
The reason given was because a dead bird is apparently awful to see, with no real ability by the discoursers to understand that their thoughts and feelings aren't universals, that it's not only subjective in the basic sense (some people are fine seeing preserved animal bodies, some people are used to seeing dead pigeons, some people just don't care), but also in a fanfic sense (everyone has different tropes and problematic content they are more or less okay with than others and making value judgements about DD:DNE being unneeded on a fic is just a personal opinion).
But it also ignored the fact that the dead dove image is used all the time online not for the "omg a dead bird!" but for the "I don't know what I was expecting" part. And that's how it was used by those of us watching Arrested Development at the time, as a reference to something obvious we should have realized ahead of time, not specifically and only as something awful and obvious.
And sometimes stuff is tagged DD:DNE not because you personally, random person discoursing about this bullshit so you can ignore the actual problems in the ao3 community, but to the writer, or commenters, or part of the fandom, etc. If they're writing a hated character or ship, or bashing a beloved one, maybe they put DD:DNE on because they can point to that when they get nasty comments: "I warned you exactly what was in this fic, you ignored it."
By the basic meme standards, the only "wrong" way to use DD:DNE is if there's no indication of what the fic contains. Since it's basically "look, here's what's inside, if you don't like it, it's your own fault for looking."
(Though I suppose the sorts of people who discourse about DD:DNE being "wrong" to use for fics aren't generally pushing anything but the most obvious boundaries and can't understand others can get hate for their fics even if they're not writing underage incest rape or whatever it is they think is the only place to use Dead Dove.)

that muppet post reminded me, most if not all of the main muppets have twitter pages. Fav has gotta be Miss Piggys, which is filled with selfies and vaguely uplifting text thats also egocentric. all the comments are people complimenting her and being like “YAS QUEEN”

Close second is Gonzos. Which is just…unhinged

Astarion's response to his trauma being "I was hurt so why should I care if anyone else is hurt" while Halsin's is "I was hurt so I will make sure no one else is ever hurt again" is just chef's kiss

You can't write this on my post and not explain what this means, it's going to drive me up a wall!
Does your family bring out a taxidermy turkey every year? Do you go hunt a turkey and make everyone help clean it? Do you somehow always hit a turkey with your car every year? Does your town have some mass turkey slaughter festival everyone attends? Where are you seeing these whole, dead turkeys, but only once a year?
That last post reminded me of this AO3 discourse I saw where people were insisting "dead dove: do not eat" should only be used for disturbing stuff, not just obvious stuff.

the scariest thing about old tv isnt really the racism or the sexisim because you kinda go in braced for that it's all the scenes where suddenly an actress is holding a lion cub or a chimpanzee is in the same room as a toddler, or suddenly theres a lion, or there's a chimpanzee again but it's driving a car, or holding a lighter, or holding fireworks. You just kind of watch in horror as over and over an actress performs with only 1960s tv film shootings best animal handling between her and the opening to Nope.

i’m on a teams meeting and the speaker is talking about inclusion and what not and he says, “…supportive environment for LBT–No. LBTG. Hold on. L. G. T–There are a lot of letters going on here. LGBTQA. Lots of letters. We support all these letters. Oh, and there’s a plus. We support all of those letters plus more!”

in a comment with my ol' pal @elon-musks-disrespectful-nipples I bemoaned the fact that no one really warned me how fucking shitty perimenopause would be
like I got plenty of warnings from lots of women and girls about my period but LADIES we are falling down on warning women about perimenopause
I didn't have migraine headaches before perimenopause. Oh, I got headaches. Bad ones, even. BUT NOT MIGRAINES!
Hot flashes feel like they come from the inside of your soul, btw. You can try to stick your head in a freezer or stand under an air conditioning vent, but until it passes, NOTHING will make you feel cool and comfortable.
I had some wicked PMDD in the first couple of years but that has THANKFULLY passed as my periods become less of a thing
feel free anyone to reblog and add your perimenopausal nightmares to warn your good sisters what might be coming
