Different media's should have different ship names.

So the book v. movie v. TV show would all have different ship names (idk how they would be differnt). That way if makes it easier to know who you are really talking about (cuz there is some different versions of Canon that really aren't the same ppl)

So I had this thought months ago that I wanted a fan shirt (I can't remember at the time if this was 1 Fandom in particular or if it started as multiple)

So with the audacity I got from my dad that I can try any craft/ diy and the millennial knowledge that I can just youtube it I decided to embroider a shirt

So I bought a shirt on Amazon (I was looking for a "football shirt" is what at the time I called it but idk if that is right so...) and I picked up some embroidery floss (big question why I bought a pack of mostly green when I got a black shirt and was going to use white floss.... 🤷‍♀️)

So that done comes the real conflict.... what am I embroidering?.....

So I think originally I was going to just make it a Fandom shirt so like any Fandom I was part of or liked... (now it is just a book/ webcomic shirt) but how am I listing them?

Once I started thinking out it I switched to couples and then it changed to include books but that brought even more questions...

So if it's couples do I go by ship name? But some of the books I wanted to use aren't big enough to have a ship name...

So like the couple ao3 tag? But I really don't want to embroider Alex and Henry’s full names....

Just first names? For some reason there is a lot of Alex's (tho now that im thinking about i think the only name that repeated was Charlie) and also what about legal name vs. nickname?

I'd just go with nicknames but what if the couples call each other but their legal name (malec) or they use a different name (zimbits)?

(At some point I switched this to just being books - originally the only webcomics I was including were also published but I added Castle Swimmer at the last moment without thinking so....)

What if I just went with book titles? But what about series? (And some book titles are long...)

Just use the series name! ... but most of the series names are just the MCs first name... and I'm not reping the entire Like Us series just Marrow...

And this logic keeps circling back around...

I tested out doing a little bit of each but I got a little mad at the uneven distribution and I had strong opinions on what I wanted some of them to be ( I love the firstprince ship name but for this project I really wanted to use the title)

I starred doing more planning related to placement and decided to just go with book titles and for series just the first book in the series. (Tho I did use just Tortall and I was a little mad about losing London Calling to Boyfriend Material and I really thought about leaving Captive Prince as Capri)

Once all the planning was done I... actually had to do the thing...

I'm glad I got stabilizer that was washable and worked in my printed so it just took a few tries to get the size correct and I could start

(And then restart after doing a quick Google search on the best way to embroider letters)

It was pretty easy, tho it did take awhile and would have taken longer if I was being really careful about following exact letter shape and stitch length. ....it also didn't help that Poppy realized embroidery floss was an OK sub for yarn to play with...

I did *cough* wait to wash any of the stabilizer off until the very end.... There was a cat in the sink when I finished the first one! It wasn't a problem tho because it washed out super easy and looks great!

... as I was taking the pics I realized i spelled Castle Swimmer wrong 😅 so maybe I'll just cut that one out later...

But overall I'm really happy with it and there is definitely room to add more when I want :) (tho I will have to remember what font and size I used because I was dumb and didn't save that...)

If anyone finished the Like Us series by Krista and Becca Ritchie (Also called Billionaires & Bodyguards on amazon?) And wants to tell me the family drama (ok specifically Marrow) after Charming Like Us I'd be very happy.....

Akara and Sulli just kinda give me the ick and reading Banks' excerpt at the end of the last book made me not really like him.... (is some of it that I just that I don't read straight books anymore, probably (I barely made it through Jane and Thatcher's books and only because it was like 50% family stuff))

But i love Farrow and Maximoff so much (honestly I think the fall in my top 10 book couples)

(Also Xander and Charlie I want to know about but I'll take anything about the entire group)

I'd consider reading Luna and Donnelly's books but the above straight book thing and also I don't love age gap in general (I almost didn't read Damaged Like Us because of the age gap there...)

How long is Simon's tail? I'm pretty sure that based on how it's described to twist around things it's gotta be like the same length Simon is tall (5 foot whatever)...

"He already gave me a sword, but I'm not magickal enough to call it." (page 6) this is so sad, I remember seeing a tweet from Rainbow saying the Sword of Mages was still in him he just couldn't call it and just that makes me want to cry for Simon

i love that Fiona continues to use the numpty joke with Baz because that is such a real family thing to do (page 14)

Premal and Simon should have a talk... they both have very complicated feelings about the Mage (i mean Simon wins but)

Poor Penny. she used to solve all of Simons problems and now she can't so she feels useless

Simon cuts so deep but i love it because it's real and he is telling everything so Baz knows

"I didn't get to keep anything... What did I get to keep, Baz?" (page 91) i think this hurts even more because he still thinks he's removing his wings and tail. to literally at this moment he doesn't think he got to keep anything: his magic, his mentor, his friends, his purpose in life, the safety that came with knowing what comes next

when Simon tells Baz he loves him to me the tone from Baz questioning it was even sadder because he wasn't just questioning Simon saying it but (to me) it seemed like a question that anyone would tell Baz that

headcanon that not only was Simon deprived of a magical childhood he also didn't have a normal one so he doesn't know things like Disney movies (or really used a cell phone)

i love that Baz switches between Simon and Snow regularly even in his own thoughts

gosh this book has the snowbaz bants that i've been looking for. referencing when they were enemies but now in a funny/ cute way

i love that there isn't really any comparisons between the Salisbury's and Simon until the end. it's not shoving it in your face if you can't remember the first book (no bronze hair like Simon or Ruth eats like Simon - there is a moment where it is mentioned that Jamie sucked at reading and talking and Simon thinks same but it is Simon thinking it not a comparison someone else is thinking)

is the light touch over simulation or has Simon just never been touched gently before so he doesn't understand it...

when Ruth gives the glasses to Simon i remember on my first read i though that was how Simon was going to get his magic back...

i'm 80% sure Lady Ruth was ready to adopt Simon before she know he was Lucy's son and i'm 85% sure she would be very fine with them using the glasses for.... other purposes

i like that Simon takes some responsibility to not drink because he kinda has a problem with it

Question... did Baz know he was a vampire before his teeth came in..? cuz knowing his family idk if they would have told him...

do Baz's siblings know he is a vampire? Simon asks but it isn't really answered...

Starting to read Baz's chapter in Any Way The Wind Blows before bed and I had to stop myself because I'm going to need enough time to read through the whole thing without stopping....

I've been busy for 2 days and haven't been able to read because I don't have enough time to get through the breakup and get back together in 1 sitting 😭

(I definitely screamed the first time I read it but luckily it was an audiobook so it continued to play while I freaked out...)

Wayward Son reread!

starting the story with an Epilogue really confused me at first

the idea of Baz with a beard/ facial hair is....

Truly as much as Baz talks and thinks about kill/ draining ppl I don't think he could... likes Simon and Penny would (and do) without hesitation but does Baz even kill any of the vampires??? (Double checking he does kill 2 of the RenFest vamps with fire but only when Simon is in deep danger -- he also does kill some vamps at the end battle but again... Simon in danger)

I don't think Simon ever really learned to regulate his emotions. Like in care it was no emotions and at Watford he needed to be extreme to go off... and who was going to teach him control? Definitely not the mage. And none of the Adults where going to stand up to his mistreatment (or even acknowledge that it was happening) and now in WS he still doesn't know how but now it isn't ok because he doesn't have magic has a back reason

"he looks like Quasimodo" (page 5) i know that in AWTWB his wings fold in more (?) but i always think that Simon looks like he has a hump back whenever he has to hide his wings under clothes

"Surprise! it's your exboyfriend and his boyfriend and that girl you never liked very much!" (page 9)

Agatha and Simon are two peas in "what is my sexuality" pod. in my head Agatha is AroAce (ppl can be mad about it and yes i've read AWTWB) and Simon is Demisexual

WS again references Simon transforming into a dragon so...

Simon has memory loss about his childhood (specifically this is referencing non Watford childhood) (page 38)

so many things happen with Margaret that i'm not even sure i have a half-baked theory on what she says to Simon

Simon likes kissing Baz but doesn't like to be kissed (page 206)

f*ck creepy Lamb

there is a slip where Lamb reveals he's working with the Next Blood vamps but if you don't know you don't know (page 278)

do you think Baz was in Lamb's thrall? or was Baz just really hoping to see the good and a teacher in someone like himself?

so much goes down after the fight - and i have a grumpy face that the book ends with a prologue...

Rereading Wayward Son and we all know f*ck the mage but also f*ck Lamb.

I can't remember if he gave me this much ick the first time I read it but now I just want to vomit every time he come up.

Like Baz usually tries to play the adult in their group but with Lamb he definitely comes off as a child/ student pretty quick and Lamb likes that... and uses that

I know it does take Lamb a little while to figure out Baz is really young but also the vibe right away is very teacher-student and while Baz sees that Lamb definitely is seeming more 🤢

Yuck. Yuck. Yuck.

And I feel so bad for Simon cuz what he is seeing is Lamb stealing his boyfriend that he already thought he was loosing! (Also Simon makes some very good points but all anyone can see is Simon about to go off and ignores him)

I voted no for this yesterday but today I JUST reread the "dates" in question and....

I thinknit was not a date in Baz's eyes (because he just saw Lamb as a teacher at best) but I think at any indicated from Baz Lamb would have turned it into a date.

So in conclusion everyone is right! Simon, Penny, and Shepard thought it seemed datey because it kinda was intended to be but Baz did not because he doesn't want to date anyone else and he has never actually gone on a date (☹️)

Thoughts after reading Carry On. I will be rereading Wayward Son next (and AWTWB after). I'm making this list after finishing the book so some of these thoughts were in my head the entire reread and some are from annotations on my Kindle was I went. (Also this is my second read the first time I read it on audiobook)

I forgot that Simon was defiantly a troublemaker and pretty ruff and tumble even before he found out about The World of Mages

F*CK THE MAGE, but also he does have a good point about allowing other creatures and low power mages into Watford

Miss Possibelf is "not exactly human" (page 95)

Lucy was defiantly in an abusive relationship and she was still defending Davy after death. i also don't really think Davy loved her :/ at least not like she wanted

i don't think that Simon every really thought he had a future. like he kinda figured between the Humdrum and the old families we wouldn't live to have a future and before the World of Mages he was a kid in care who was always getting into trouble

its pretty sad that the Kids where very aware they were gonna have to fight to the death and they really didn't want it and none of the Adults were willing to comment on it (i think Matali makes a quick comment later in ATWB)

Simons wand didn't not work because it wasn't blood related to him

Fiona had a normal job lined up before Natasha died (pg 173)

i have a half baked idea that the reason Simon can share his magic with Baz is because he is a Vampire, like the Humdrum can "give" magic to creatures so Simon can too

i was figuring out the age gap between the two adult groups (Lucy vs Ebb) and had it narrowed down to basically the same age when Martin straight up said he was a few years older than them...

Lucy was in the cottage with Davy for around 2 years ish before she got pregnant

"It was just flirting, it's not like I tried to feed her to a chimera." (page 277)

Baz sucks his fangs when he's thinking (page 330)

"I can't believe you're asking me this, Snow. You, who can't walk away from half a sandwich." (page 429)

"I can't believe there's a part of your body that grows when you need it." (page 391) i'm pretty sure this was supposed to sound spicy but i laughed either way

when Baz tells Simon to run after the Humdrum comes to the Pitch estate i think i cried, reading it the second time i know Baz isn't really blaming Simon but i remember the first time i read it i though Baz really though Simon did it

"Maybe it's not a spell, Maybe he transformed" (pg 426) i think that this is saying more than we give it credit for - another half baked idea that Simon is like half imp/ demon/ elemental (i think we all like the dragon idea but i'm realizing CO really wonders about the tail and how it isn't a dragon tail)

when Simon kills the mage previously i though it was because the mage couldn't stop physically hurting Simon but i think it probably had more to do with the emotional damage (i'm sure some of it was physical but...)

when reading fanfic i also realized that CO doesn't actually say Lucy's brothers name (Jamie) or most of Baz's siblings names

I'm rereading Carry On by Rainbow Rowell and just excuse me for crying through the first third of the book when Simon is brooding around the school because now I know Baz is locked up in a coffin 😭😭

I hate when fanfiction is tagged as cannon compliant or post x book in series and.... it just isn't? I've only run into it a few times where it's just so confusing because x character is dead in cannon or that's not how that went down in the book...

And this isn't like a book vs movie/ TV show thing (because there isn't one) and saying post x book implies the book end and not any mini fics or spin offs that may exist to change things...

Idk it bothers me enough that I stopped reading one because it didn't make sense with the tag (and I triple checked that that was the tag they used and it wasn't followed up with another tag like expect for x thing or lol I only read half the book tho.....)
