Dick Grayson (titans) x Reader
(Dick Grayson GIF not mine)
Uhhhhh, surprise? I’m back, I think.
I owe each and every single one of you an explanation for my absence. When I finished and posted the third chapter I thought I was going to be able to keep caught up with the oncoming chapters but the problem was that they weren’t written yet. I kept coming back to try and write the next chapter and with each try I fell out of the motivation to write it. After how many months and FINALLY finishing my exams I am now back and ready to go. Love you all, I missed Dick Grayson.
This will be a series! So stay tuned for more chapters to come!
The plot: When Y/N gets a sign from the gods to go after a troubled girl, she stumbles upon and reconnects with a dear friend from her past.

Masterlist for Boy Wonder & The Young Goddess
Even as an Amazon you still somehow got migraines, and yeah if you’re wanting to know they’re still a mega pain in the ass. The tea session with Gar had sparked some suppressed emotions which is probably a positive thing but damn did they mess with your head, literally. The best option was to swallow yourself in the mattress that was very much calling your name. Your knees were close to your chest as you tried to wait out the pain. Surprisingly in an apartment full of vigilantes there were no painkillers, then again Dick is more of the ‘brooding and ignoring the pain’ type of guy.
Another bolt of pain shot through your temple as your fist grabbed the sheet which followed with the rest of your body clenching in pain. A quiet “fuck” left your lips as you smacked the bed trying to get the frustration out without blasting out the windows with an energy tantrum. As the storm moved from where Dick was in town it settled over you and surrounded the tower with a hollow shower of rain, thankfully no lightning and thunder. The calming rhythm of the droplets gave you something to focus in on instead of the pressure that was clouding your mind.
You stretched your hand out from under the pillow and held it above where you and Dick once laid this morning, slowly lowering it onto the still crumpled bedding. It was an odd feeling. The bed felt uneven without him even though your whole life had been balanced this entire time. You couldn't start wanting him now, especially after the mini lecture you had given him this morning about Kory and putting her first. You sharply retracted your hand and slid it back to the pillow before anyone noticed, even if the apartment was just about empty.
As you were settling in bed Gar was settling into the corner of the couch watching the rain fall. He thought that he might as well take this moment for granted. There was no one after him, no one currently fighting their way into the apartment and especially no one to interrupt him. It was just a silent conversation between his open thoughts that still danced around your prior conversation and the rain’s simple song of serenity. Unknown to him, that serenity wouldn’t last long.
-
Kory and Rachel were ahead of Dick as he finished paying for the small lunch they had. His hand was struggling to fit in the tight pocket as he was desperately trying to push the coins away somewhere. As he looked up from the change dilemma he noticed how far ahead the others were and jogged to catch up. The concrete was still covered in a thin film of water as it released the remaining smell of rain and the city noise around him cut into his ears. You would be surprised at how deafening the city can be but as his phone bleeped a passing car honked. His phone rattled around in his jacket pocket as the screen lit up with a stoic message from Donna.
Donna-Received at 12:48pm
I’m coming to the apartment. Don’t be alarmed if you hear a knock at the door.
The screen slowly dimmed and got ignored as the notification got sucked away by the soundtrack of the city streets.
Sure, Dick hated how loud the city was but after this he would loathe it. Soon the cars and busy people would be replaced by your screaming and tears.
-
The screen close to the door lit up with a message of ‘intruder’ which caught Gar’s attention. The tiles were cool against his feet when he turned to go wake you, motivated by his state of panic. As he reached for the doorknob he pulled himself away biting his lip as he tossed up whether he should wake you or not. The alert rang through the apartment again but was interrupted as the elevator doors slid open. As Gar’s eyes made contact his stomach dropped. This wasn’t good. And it wasn’t bad. His calming afternoon quickly turned into a nightmare. A pair of leather boots stood in front of him with a very particular rope attached to their hip.
“With that look on your face I’m betting you didn’t know I was coming?” Her smile pressed into her dimples as she flicked her dark hair from her eyes. Gar got caught back to the situation in front of him and coughed out a chuckle trying not to look at your bedroom door in hopes of keeping your presence a secret.
-
Rachel had bounced into the passenger seat as she gulped down the remainder of her second coffee of the day. She went to jam it into the cup holder but it was occupied by Dick’s phone. He was too focused on trying to see the oncoming traffic as the car pulled out so she grabbed it and played with it. She missed having a phone, having some form of property other than her clothes. She tapped her boots together as she threw the thought around of trading her boots for a walkman but it was interrupted with an ear piercing siren coming out of the phone’s speaker.
“I SWEAR IT WASN’T ME!” Rachel screamed as she tried shutting the noise off. Dick’s head whipped around to see a red flashing notification come across his screen. It was a security camera image with the word ‘intruder’ pasted along it. There stood Donna looking up at the camera with a disgruntled expression across her face. He slapped the steering wheel and pushed the gas pedal down as Kory and Rachel sat confused and alarmed.
“You know it’s just Donna right? Not some psycho killer maniac.” Kory pitched in as she leant forward to see just how angry Dick was but she didn’t see a face of anger. She saw a face that was caught up in the many flashes of childhood memories between the two of you, a face laced with fear. She lowered herself into the back seats and knew it involved you.
Really? As soon as she steps into the city Donna has to show up. Here we go again, around the twist. Two Amazons in the same apartment, wonder if it’ll even be standing by the time I get there. “Fuck!” This launched out of Dick’s mouth without his intention. Two pairs of eyes met his but he knew he had to focus on getting back to you before Donna did something to ruin it all, again.
-
Plan of attack: keep Donna in the lounge room and keep it quiet. If one of you knows you’re here then I’m stuck dealing with two Amazons. TWO!!!
Gar wanted to squeal and rip his hair out but he knew he had to try and keep a calm facade for the fate of this building. He had explained that they didn’t have phones so there was no way of Dick letting him know she would be coming, she just shrugged and agreed on how having no phones was probably their best bet at not being found and captured. That’s one topic off the checklist. Donna had taken the same position he had earlier on the couch as he offered her a tea which she gratefully accepted. His breathing had become shallow as he was silently praying for Dick to get his ass home now.
As he turned from facing the kettle back to the rest of the apartment he scanned the area for any remnants of you being there. It was a bit of a saviour that your armour melted back into you even though it was entirely weird and kinda gross. No belongings means no clues. He crossed his arms up and smiled to himself at what could be a successful plan of attack but as he stared out the windows his smile wavered. Donna wasn’t exactly paying attention to him but that damn calm facade had to stay up.
Looking back at him was your sword in all its glory lying along the outside coffee table. He heard you out there last night with Dick, talking and silencing the giggles you shared. You would definitely kick yourself later for leaving it out there. The kettle was reaching its boiling point and so were his ideas.
Click.
As the water settled from its boiling point so did his momentary worries. If she can’t see it then she won’t know. New plan of attack. Distract. Gar rushed and made her tea as he smoothly asked if she would want to sit at the kitchen island bench, his excuse? It was right under the heater. Her face twisted and she hummed but came over to him anyways. Lucky for Gar his suspicious attitude was overrun by what she thought was a boyish charm.
The elevator doors couldn’t open fast enough as the trio stumbled into the apartment with all the groceries immediately hitting the ground. The clambering footsteps alarmed them both as they were met with three other huffing faces. There was no fire. No damage and most importantly no you.
“Okay, what is going on around here? First the apartment doesn’t let me in and then you guys act as if you’ve seen a god damn ghost!” Donna’s voice was raising higher as the seconds passed by. Gar stared past Donna’s shoulder right into Dick’s eyes. I know. Dick’s eyes twitched as he read what Gar’s face was saying, but the reality was that he didn’t actually know the truth.
-
You shifted beneath the covers as your senses came to, immediately hearing a full apartment. Hey, more food in the house makes me happy too. As you got up off the mattress you listened in and it wasn’t exactly joyful talk, you could feel the anxiety in the household.
Danger.
Dick.
You flew across the room and swung the door open, nearly ripping off the hinges. Your fists were glowing ready to fight but you were met with something much worse than a fight. You heard Dick sharply inhale a breath as Kory got in front of Rachel. She didn’t know your history but she knew two Amazons in the same apartment meant trouble.
“What the he-“ She turned from facing the elevator and her frame shuddered. Donna’s sentence got caught in her throat as she stared at you. Her chest was crumbling and you could feel it. She tried swallowing her breath but her dry throat wouldn’t allow it. Instead it came out as a single sob.
Your stance hardened as her gaze turned cold, glazed over. You knew if you fought her that you would win either way. Each muscle slowly relaxed as you returned to a standing position. This isn’t a time to fight.
“Donna just listen don’t start jumping to any of the ideas going through your head.” Dick was stepping towards her trying to settle anything, something to stop this. There was an eerie silence filled only with the sound of breathing. Her eyes didn’t stray from yours.
Dick looked as if he was trying to approach a wild animal with his hands up and a calm but shaking voice. His boots squeaked against the tiles and it all broke as if a pin had dropped.
A gold stream of light ripped through the apartment. “Y/N!” There was immediate screaming as everything broke loose. It was as if the sun had entered the room, light was streaming everywhere as they had to shade their eyes. Dick shut his eyes, trying to get through to you with his thoughts knowing you’d be able to hear them, pleading for you to stop. He had the wrong impression.
Inside the ball of light wasn’t a battle. Every strike Donna threw you blocked. This isn’t a time to fight. You would let her beat you to a pulp, pummel you into the ground but you wouldn’t lay a hand on her. Another blow came but it burnt. You back jolted as her heel came into contact with your chest. The fibres from the rope dug themselves into your neck as your knees dug into the floor. The light faded but the rope continued to glow.
Rachel gasped and clung onto Kory as the air was withering it’s way out of your lungs. She had you trapped with the rope around your neck and everyone sat there watching you choke. Now the tables have turned and you look like the intruder.
This isn’t a time to fight. Your hands came up to tug the rope and pull her closer to you. Her boots skidded against the floor and as you looked up to her eyes, they were no longer cold. Instead they reflected you in the pool of tears. Another sob worked its way from her chest and her body struggled to hold it together. She was shaking her head not being able to process who was in front of her. Dick could feel her betrayal and confusion from the other side of the room.
As you tugged the rope again she came that one step closer. A hushed sentence came from her trembling lips.
“You’re alive?”
As her breath left her body you left the building in a spark of light and her rope puddled on the floor. She couldn’t take her eyes off where you once were as everyone else kept still in the remaining silence.
It was as if she’d seen a ghost.

You weren’t surprised that you both ended up sprawled all over the bed. Both of you had always been rough sleepers, tossing and turning through out the night. What did surprise you was that you woke up on his chest, his arm wrapped around you. He must of pulled you there during the night. The thing is, it was incredibly hard to wiggle out of his grip. Once his arms were wrapped around you, there was no escaping. Yes, it is quite a good thing, it makes you feel safe, you get to be surrounded by muscles and he’s very comfortable to sleep on, but the con of not being able to get out without waking him pushed all of that out of the way. You could easily transport out of there but your body was too tired to even think about it.
It was nice to be cuddled up to someone after being alone for many years, but it wasn’t fair. In the room next to you a woman was lying there that cared deeply about Dick. She fought for him and attempted to kill you just to protect him. She didn’t know who you were or what you were doing here but she knew you were here with Dick and that struck her in the heart. They had been on a break but still, it wasn’t fair.
Eventually you gave up and decided to just lay there. Your head rested on his chest near the crook of his neck. You closed your eyes and took it all in. His breathing had become more stable and you could feel that the intensity of his pain had dulled down. You opened your eyes again and looked to his face. There was still blood there, some stained under his nose. Even when he was at his utmost relaxed position, the stress still showed on his face. Suddenly he took a deep breath in which scared you and he let out a grumbled “Why are you staring at me?” as he exhaled. You felt his arm loosen up and rub up and down your back. You brought your hand back closer to your body and started biting off the three month old nail polish out of habit, trying to avoid his question. Your nose twitched and you glanced back up to him.
“I wasn’t staring, I was observing how badly you got your ass kicked last night.” He let out a soft chuckle as he stared up at the ceiling but then turned his head back to you. He brought his hand up and started playing with your hair. “I was also thinking how we can’t do this to her.” You looked him dead in the eye and he looked confused. “She is right next door and you can’t lie to me and say there’s nothing between you two because I can see it, I can see how much she truly cares about you Dick.” You sat up from his chest and pushed his arm off you. You weren’t angry at him but you had to set this straight. He had a look of frustration on his face as he looked out to the window, slightly ignoring you.
“Are you going to reply or just sit there and grumble to yourself?” You stood at the end of the bed, trying to get him to look at you. He did this when he knew he was wrong, he would take it in and attempt to ignore it but you always got him to give in. You sat near his feet which were trapped under the covers. “We decided to take a break.” He mumbled to you, watching your hands play with the covers. His sigh was low and drawn out. You looked up to him and you could see he was hurt by it. His jaw was grinding a little bit and his eyebrows crossed. He wanted to say more but thought it wasn’t worth it. You patted the bed before deciding to get up. “I’ll leave you with your thoughts then.”
“No just...stay.” He said, the sentence getting quieter as he finished. Dick had a look of guilt on his face. He didn’t know what to do and he thought you would know. The feeling Kory brought to him was warm and gave him comfort and he needed that. Once they decided to take a break he felt off without it. You crawled back up the bed and sat up next to him. His head instantly dropped onto your shoulder, not knowing what else to do in this situation. You reached around his shoulders are scruffed his hair gently, continuing to play with it. Everything with you felt so much easier. He felt balanced and at home, but you were right and he knew he had to sort it out with Kory.
You clicked the button down on the kettle as you offered to make a cup of tea for Gar. Dick, Kory and Rachel had gone out to grab some groceries as the kitchen was just about bare. He sat at the kitchen bench tapping his foot on the stool, his head rested in between his hands with a questioning look on his face. You looked through the cupboards for the tea bags and sugar, which were on opposite sides of the kitchen. His tapping continued and you could feel his wild thoughts even though he was silent. You pulled the cups down from above you and set them down on the counter that you were leaning on. He was silently trying to even out his breathing while more questions popped into his mind. He was a fidgety kid, reminded you of Dick when he was younger. He calmed down as you brought his tea over, the steam opening up his lungs.
Together you drank in silence, sharing a look every now and then. “So I’m guessing you’re not from around here?” Gar asked. In reality he just wanted to know if you were going to hurt Rachel, take advantage of her like everyone else had. You sat your cup down near Gar’s and cleared your throat. “Is there something obvious? It’s not like I have green hair or something.” You teased with a smirk. He reached up to his neck self consciously. A little guilt pinged you so you made up for it. “Don’t worry, Dick dyed my hair red when we were teens. I loved it.” You reminisced on it. It was amusing to see your above shoulder length, fiery red hair turn into the luscious locks of the Goddess, it used to shock everyone even if they already knew it was going to happen. He looked back down to his tea with a soft smile and you went back to yours. “Plus, Batman thinks coloured hair is cool if that helps.” You quirked to him. A bright smile broke out on his face as he gushed over such a badass presumably loving his hair.
You rinsed the cups out and placed them upside down on the drying rack as Gar sat on the couch. He’d taped the cover of the remote back on and got it to work again so he was content. The clock on the oven read 12:34, they’d been out a bit over an hour and a half. There wasn’t much else to do around the apartment. You could only handle watching so much TV so you stared out the balcony instead, the view from the couch was pretty good. You could feel that there was a storm coming and it calmed you. The cool change had swept along with some rolling clouds. The others had stopped for lunch at a bakery not far from the apartment. The rain had kept them there but Dick just wanted to come back and be there with you. Things had eased slightly between Dick and Kory, his plan to go calmly grocery shopping worked and they had a steady conversation. She didn’t press him about you as she knew that the reasoning would come eventually.
The conversation between you and Gar was kept light. He asked about what the superheroes were like, so you answered. You shared some memories of what it was like being raised by them. Training with Diana, having deep conversations with Aquaman on the rare occasion and showing Oliver Queen who’s boss at archery. In turn he told you his story about involuntarily becoming a green tiger, how it felt to become this thing he never wanted to be. He also gushed about meeting the one and only Wonder Girl, Donna to you. You smiled along at his adoration for her, keeping everything else in. He was even blushing over her, but your lack of actual emotions other than smiling gave you away. He slowly silenced and instead tried to catch your gaze. “Not the best of friends huh?” He seemed a bit guilty after saying all this stuff about her. You sighed and looked around the room, looking for a nice answer. “Donna and I grew up together, like with Dick. We were practically raised together but you know how time treats people. We just grew apart.” You shrugged, hoping that would satisfy him. His hand came under his chin and nodded, totally not believing you. “You might want another cup of tea if I’m telling you all this.” You waved your hands around as if you were motioning to an array of stuff. Gar shuffled in his seat and stared at you, giving you the green light with a humble smile.
“When we were kids we used to run around the mansion together. Making fun of the paintings on the walls that Bruce had collected over the years.” You could hear the little giggles erupting from your younger self ring in your mind. “Dick strayed us away from the one of Bruce’s parents because he knew it hurt us both, with his parents being dead and me not even having any to begin with.” Gar chewed on his lip not knowing how to reply, you were over it by now as you knew you already had the only family you needed.
“He would always make up for my lack of parents by re-telling my own ‘origin story’ that’s what he liked to call it. Like Diana, I was made not born. She was made from clay, but I was much more. As a favour from the gods, they sent a meteorite their way. In the centre was a rock of stardust ready to be used, that’s what I was created with. They combined it with the clay they used on Diana and sculpted me.” You looked like a normal person and acted like one, Gar couldn’t quite wrap his head around you being a star. A smirk quipped up on your face. “They say my eyes have never glowed brighter than the day I came into this world.” You walked around the island in the kitchen and pushed the button down on the kettle, Gar spun around the bar stool so he was still facing you.
“The thing is, I’ve always had powers. I’ve been a bursting ball of energy and light my entire life. They trained me on Themyscira until I could ‘handle’ myself.” Exaggerating the air quotes. “This meant that I would be sent into the real world and that I the predecessor, would learn from my master. I just ended up living in the shadow of ‘The Goddess’, the one who came before me. Her name was Adelia Zeru, an Amazon who took it upon herself to train and become worthy of The Goddess’ armour.” Gar then repeated this name to himself, liking the ring of it. “Although I was the next of kin of the armour, she was stubborn to pass it on. To her I was deemed not worthy as I was born for the armour and didn’t train for it as she did. This resulted in her always passing me onto Diana which caused a wall to come between Donna and I. On one of the few occasions that Bruce and I talked, he told me the truth about Donna.” You stood there for a couple seconds, pondering if you should tell this kid who she really was to you, the chance that it could ruin her reputation with him. He had an innocent look on his face and beaming eyes that just wanted to know more.
“She put herself through training which ended up harming her more than helping her. She would push herself until she would collapse and then once regained consciousness, continue on. Any time I saw her I was treated with a cold attitude and frustration.” Your hands slowly crept into fists. “In the mansion there was a training room that us kids were allowed to use. Dick obviously used it the most but Donna was the one most attracted to it. During a Justice League meeting, Bruce noticed Donna was gone and mentioned it to Diana but she knew she could take care of herself. Going against Diana, he looked for her. What he found wasn’t the Donna they were all used to. She was thrashing into the wall, punching it as hard as she could, even past the point of her hands no longer looking human. Bruce ran in to stop her but she said something that held him back. While she was punching she was yelling at herself. ‘Come on you have to be stronger! She doesn’t love you like she loves her! I have to beat her!’ she was screaming with a scratchy voice on the edge of it snapping.
As her hands slowed down she let out a final sentence. ‘You have you be better than Y/N’. She broke herself with this.” There was a silence between you and Gar. It still haunts you. Just imagining Donna beating herself to a pulp because of you. The breath you let out shook through your chest and blew out onto the bench. Your eyes slowly glazed over as you heart tightened for her. “She was crumpled on the ground, crying over her own self worth. Bruce left her there, thought it would be better if he didn’t get involved. Instead he came back to the meeting and told me later that night.” Now the tears were falling. A sigh left you as your eyes met Gar’s, he was nearly crying. He never really thought of the real life of a superhero, what they struggled with. You gave him some time to let it set in as you turned back towards the bench, trying to calm the guilty tears. All you wanted was Dick to be here, even if he just left a couple hours ago.

“her race isnt an issue but isn’t starfire supposed to be orange.”
Tumblr media
“okay but she looks like a ghetto crackwhore hooker in that getup”
kory in literally a bell bottom suit and mini-dresses with and w/o a fur coat.
Tumblr media
multiple starfires from in the comics who are apparently modest as hell:
Tumblr media
“k, well her hair was never like that in the comics or cartoon.”
Tumblr media
“she doesn’t shoot actual fire, the writers are idiots.”
Tumblr media
“whatever I didnt wanna say it but she isn’t supposed to be black.”
Tumblr media
Edit: I didn’t expect the post to circulate this much but she goes through the most wardrobe changes in this show. We were given BTS footage where she does get costume upgrades as all heroes are expected to. Anna even confirmed it multiple times in interviews. I wonder what excuses fanboys will come up with next.

Y’all this chapter is gonna so long compared to the other ones I hope you’re ready
Sneak Peak For Chapter Three!
It’s been a bit since the last chapter and I’m still in the midst of finishing chapter three but I thought I’d share a little bit with you all to keep the flow going! I’m only sharing a little bit but hopefully it keeps you all satisfied until I publish the compete version!
Yes it is quite a good thing, it makes you feel safe, you get to be surrounded by muscles plus he’s very comfortable to sleep on but the con of not being able to get out without waking him pushed all of that out of the way. You could easily transport out of there but your body was too tired to even think about it.

Boy Wonder & The Young Goddess -Chapter Two-

I couldn’t wait any longer to post chapter two so here it is! This chapter is more of a soft/fluffy/down right emotional chapter than an actual progressive chapter but I loved writing it.

You had never been a heavy sleeper so it was easy to know when you were back at the apartment. You woke up to your shoulder being occupied by Dick’s entire body, his head nuzzled up to you. Gar couldn’t believe his eyes, quoting that he’d never seen Dick being ‘soft’ before. It took so much willpower to not wake him so you carried him instead. He had passed out pretty hard but at least he was getting some rest. The elevator was over crowded with all five of you so you decided to take the second trip. You struggled a bit to push the buttons as you were holding a floppy full grown man in bridal style but you eventually got there by using your sword to tap the buttons. Rachel showed you to the room that Dick and Kory were sharing so you could put him in bed. You gracefully set him down onto the white cloud of a bed and pulled the covers on top of him. You exited the room before it got awkward for Kory but she decided it was best for her to share the other double bed with Rachel, leaving Gar on the couch, and you with Dick.
Everyone bid their quiet goodnights to each other about 2 hours ago and the apartment became comfortably silent. Although you knew you needed to sleep, your body wasn’t in the mood to. You crept through the living room, making sure not to wake Gar, and grabbed your sword. You escaped out to the balcony where there was an outdoor couch set with a table, perfect for charging your sword. You settled into the couch, stretching out your legs across the entirety of it. You took some time to look at the city surrounding you and it was quite calming. You had a habit of looking into office buildings at night, watching the workers delve into the night. Most of them switched off for the night but some stayed, the ones who worked for their position there. You sat there for about an hour, just taking it all in. You felt connected to the people still out there, you all sharing this time of night together. The serenity was interrupted by someone stumbling around in the kitchen, knocking over a cup and some bowls. That someone being Dick. He could hardly walk from the beating he took earlier that night.
You transported yourself inside not wanting to make anymore sound by opening the sliding door. When you appeared in front of Dick you nearly made him collapse from scaring him. You caught another cup before it hit the ground not wanting to wake Gar up. He looked around you both at the soft glow of light, the same glow as the office windows through the night. He was leant up against the counter, not being able to hold himself up due to the pain. “Why aren’t you in bed?” He whispered, not wanting to wake anyone up even though he just broke nearly every dish in the apartment. “Me? Why aren’t you in bed? You need to rest and heal, Dick!” You whispered aggressively at him. You reached out and put your hand on his ribs. Immediately you could feel the pain that was running through them and all you wanted to do was heal him. His eyebrows shot up defensively but you put your hand to his mouth before he could start arguing. You grabbed his hand and transported you both out onto the balcony. You helped him sit down on the couch and squished in next to him. He sat back as he watched you prepare your sword for charging. You looked up to the sky and reached your hand out, picking out the constellations you needed as your fingertips started to glow. You ran your fingers over the blade, lighting it up. You placed it back down on the table and let it bathe in the moonlight.
He still wasn’t used to transporting with you but he had other feelings going on in his body at the moment. His ribs were broken and his entire body ached. He had blood stained on his skin and cuts on his face. You hadn’t noticed how badly injured he was before but now in the close proximity you couldn’t not notice. It made your heart ache and pulled at your heart strings. His chest was rising and falling erratically due to the pain. “Dick…” You just couldn’t put into words what you were feeling. Somehow a tear managed to slip it’s way down your cheek. You could only imagine how alone he had been before meeting Rachel and the rest of them. For all these years he was so alone, Bruce had ruined him and he never healed. It all started weighing down on you and the tears started falling.
Dick could feel your heart breaking over him. It always would. When you were younger you couldn’t bare to see Dick be influenced by the darkness Bruce put on him, so you went after him. You were filled with rage and sadness which just fired you up even more. Bruce didn’t expect it to come from you, someone who had strong morals and a calm attitude but you couldn’t handle Dick being hurt. If he got hurt then someone else would get hurt. You went to the mansion and let all your power go at him. Every single particle of energy hit him, you could see the blast of light from a mile away. You knew if you killed him that Gotham would nose dive into a town for the insane so you pushed him until the brink of death. He was in a coma for two months. A week after that night, Dick left Gotham, if it wasn’t for you he wouldn’t be here. Alive.
He could see you looking at everything, the bruises, the cuts and the general wear and tear of his body. He knew it upset you seeing him like this but he did what he had to. Here you were breaking down in front of him, over him. He wanted to talk everything out with you but all he could manage to get out was a quiet “come here” as he embraced you in a hug. You allowed yourself to be vulnerable with Dick and this moment just proved it even more. You sat there wrapped in his arms for what felt like forever. “I don’t want you getting hurt anymore.” You mumbled into his chest which resulted in him letting out a deep sigh. “You know I have to do this, to protect people…” You sat up from his chest and looked back at him, shaking your head. “Why can’t you protect yourself, just for once in your life?” You said with a shaky breath. You looked up at his face and his eyes were looking out at the night sky. You knew you weren’t going to get an answer but you sat there anyway.
He looked back to you with his forehead creased and his eyebrows pushed together. You sat opposite him, facing each other. Your tears had started drying up and your breathing steadied out. He always looked so stern, so serious, so you reached up to his face and rubbed in between his eyebrows with the pad of your thumb, trying to smooth out the creases. A tired smile broke out and took over his face, a small chuckle coming out of his sore chest. He grabbed both your hands and pulled them to his chest, dragging you back over to him. You turned around so your back was up against his chest, laying the same way he did in your chest in the car ride back. Your head rested just below his in the crook of his neck as his arms wrapped around you, still holding your hands. This felt so familiar to you, so safe. When he was upset you used to do this to him. Cradle him and be there for him, whatever the problem was. Now it had swapped and the mood changed. You were back with him after years of being apart, you craved each other.
You both stayed like that for a while, lying there peacefully. He kept playing with your hands out of habit, always having to keep himself busy. He entwined your fingers with his and it made you feel warm, at home with him. “hey…” you whispered to his attention, a quiet hum coming back to you. You turned his hands around and laid them out flat with his palms facing you. “Remember this?” You asked as you started tracing out the lines on his hands, lighting them up. You went up his fingers, going around all the creases they formed. He let out a silent laugh as you kept going, eventually lighting up his entire hand with lines of light, using your finger as a pen drawing out golden lines. You used to do this to him back at Gotham to calm him down. Go over all the lines and explain that they told a story, each time you would make up a new one to guide him through his troubles and lead him along the right path. You laid your hands on top of his, his being a bit bigger and more beat up than yours.
He pulled you up to his chest making himself more comfortable and whispered into your ear “What story do you see now?” His head was next to yours, cuddling into you. You could’ve told him that you saw pain and that he was becoming someone else, but tonight was not the night for it. “I see…” you continued tracing his hands playing with them as he did before “that you and I need to go to bed before we fall asleep right here on this couch.” You giggled, making him close his hands tightly around yours one last time. He went to get up to walk back inside but you stopped him, relaxing back into the couch. You closed your eyes and focussed on the room. Your body started glowing softly and it spread to his and as quickly as it started you were both back inside in the bedroom.
You let out a relieved sigh as you got up from his chest and rolled onto the other side of the bed, delving into the soft mattress. He shifted under the covers and made himself comfortable, facing towards you. You curled up into the quilt, surrounding yourself with the much needed comfort but before you could completely settle in, an arm wrapped it’s way around your waist pulling you in closer.
Repeating Gar’s words, you hadn’t seen Dick this soft before. Yes he showed people affection but not to this level. You rolled around so you were facing his chest, moving closer into him causing him to wrap you up even tighter. Again, you felt so comfortable with him. So safe. You slowly closed your eyes and let out a long breath. “Dick?” You let out into the quiet room, he replied by rubbing your back with his hands. You didn’t know if you could even get it out but you pushed yourself to tell him now. “I missed you.” A silence settled and you thought you said the wrong thing before he replied “And you thought I didn’t? God you don’t know how much I’ve missed you.” He let out, it was a tired mumble but you understood him. You didn’t know you could get any closer to him but you did, cuddling into his chest. You were so close to drifting off that before you realised it, Dick gave you a goodnight kiss on the top of your head causing you to let out a sloppy smile and a whispered “good night.”

Boy Wonder & The Young Goddess  -Chapter One-
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Dick Grayson (titans) x Reader
(Dick Grayson GIF not mine)
My first story ever to be posted on tumblr! This character is a whole shamble, I’ve taken heavy inspiration from She-Ra (binge watched the new netflix series) and also Captain Marvel because who doesn’t like a powerful woman? This first chapter doesn’t have much interaction between Dick and y/n but it’s all about the slow burn right? Send me an ask if you have any questions/suggestions or improvements!
This will be a series! So stay tuned for more chapters to come!
The plot: When Y/N gets a sign from the gods to go after a troubled girl, she stumbles upon and reconnects with a dear friend from her past.
Warnings: none
Dick was sitting at the dining table, brooding over a stale cup of coffee Rachel made him about twenty minutes ago. She was sat on the couch a couple meters away from him, flicking through the channels on the tv, Gar next to her trying to snatch the remote out of her hands. Kory was in one of the other rooms, ‘resting’ but Dick knew she was avoiding him. They had been staying in one of Bruce's apartments for nearly a week now after Jason let them in. His hands gripped tighter to the cup from thinking about Jason. The ‘new Robin’ his replacement. Replacement? Labelling him as if he wasn’t good enough. He didn’t survive all the hate from Bruce just to be replaced. He had to become someone else.
“Gar what the hell?” Rachel’s voice broke him out of his thoughts. He looked to where they were and on the ground sat the remote, broken. “I’ll try to fix it, for you.” He stumbled out, trying to make it up to Rachel. She just huffed and sat further down into the couch as he scrambled up the pieces. Dick got up and paced around the room. There had to be something they could do to protect Rachel before anything else happens to her. They couldn’t just relax here. Rachel and Gar kept bickering to each other before she ended it. “Look now it’s just on the weather channel which is so useful to us. Now we can’t even check the news to see if any more strange occurrences coming after me have been seen!” This shut Gar up but she immediately felt bad. She knew he was just trying to help but everything weighed down on her causing her to snap. Dick strolled over to them, leaning on the couch.
He watched the man on the tv pointing around the map at each city. Their town was shown to have sunny weather with only partial clouds. He looked out the windows quickly to check but had to double take what he saw. He slid open the door to the balcony and stepped out to hear thunder striking in the distance. “What the hell is this?” It was all rolling towards them quickly. “Sorry if Rachel and I were being too loud…” Gar said as he came up behind Dick, seeing the sky shift as well. The lightning was striking hard and fast. It came nearly every few seconds, lighting up the sky through the heavy clouds. Dick stared at them, paying close attention to them. Something was off. “Hey Dick isn’t lightning meant to be uhh, white?” That was it. He looked at it again and instead of cool, white stripes the sky was filled with golden strips of flickering light. Even the thunder sounded different. It was more of a drum-like rhythm than random bursts of sound.
“Is something wrong? Should I get Rachel?” Gar had immediately set into protective mode but it was unnecessary. “No, but someone is coming.” He went back into the lounge room with Rachel still sitting on the couch, feeling a bit uncomfortable. He stood there looking out the window, scratching his cheek out of anxiousness. There was only one answer to who was coming. “They’re not here to hurt you Rachel.” He looked over to her to at least try and calm her. “I’ve known them since we were kids. We grew up together, she was another side kick per say.”
“She huh?” Kory decided to step in. “It’s not like that, it shouldn’t even matter to you anyway.” Dick muttered, not having any patience to argue with her.
“She’s coming- well already here, for a reason. She never does anything out of spite or vengeance.” He looked back over to Rachel then to Gar and finally Kory. He turned around and walked up to the glass, seeing that the lightning had already come closer to them. He hadn’t seen you since you were both about seventeen. He was still Robin and you were still only Y/N. He was still under Bruce’s control then but your time with Dick had been spent trying to pull him from that leash he held over him. You were always a sign of hope, of light.
“All I know is that she’s here to help.”
-
Whoever they were fighting, they were definitely winning. You could see his cape flying around, blood dripping off it. Inconsistent flames were getting thrown about, nearly singeing everyone on the spot. A young girl cowered, clenching her fists while backed up into a car, trying her best to stay away from it all. A tiger leapt over the same car, frightening the poor girl even more. Although it sounded like a tiger and moved like a tiger, there was something off about it. In the limited amount of moonlight the animal shone green. The flamethrower seemed to run out of puff as she stomped her boots into the bitumen, charring it slightly. He was on the ground now, getting pummelled into by multiple men. “Just get up already.” You huffed out, knowing that deep inside him he had the power to rise and keep fighting.
They kept kicking, thrusting their feet into him, no mercy shown. His head rolled to the side, even though you were squatted on the rooftop of a building out of their sight, you could tell that he was begging anyone for help. You sniffed in some of the smoggy air and looked around, making sure there was no one else that had to be involved in all of this. You pushed yourself up from the harsh squat you sat in, walking away from the buildings edge. The gravel broke underneath you. You came to a stop about ten meters from where you were previously and craned your neck to look up at the sombre night sky above. The stars twinkled, egging you on, pushing you to help him. You ran your fingers over the sheath of the blade, rubbing the jewel embedded into the handle.
You cleared your throat, feeling the need for a drink after this battle. You inhaled a deep breath that filled the entirety of your lungs before letting out the oath. “To those before me, who let me breathe, who made me live. To those in front of me who I bring safety and salvation to. To myself, the bearer of power and caller of gods…” Your fingers started lighting up, running up the veins in your arms up through your heart. Golden light shone through your eyes, feeling the power rain down into you. Your boots, now turning into armour, ruffled up the gravel giving you some grip. You pumped yourself up with a few quick breaths and then took off, leaping into the air above the fight below. “I call upon Bia! Lend me your strength and you will live on!” You shouted, feeling the cold night air ripping past you. You glided through the air, every fibre of your body now changing. Your helmet formed Bia’s wings either side of your head as your now ever growing hair flew behind you like a cape of golden silk. Your simple mortal clothes now turning into the battle armour made by those who created Diana. Before your eyes your wristband morphed itself into a gilded shield. As you landed the ground cracked, splitting away from you. As you looked up, the men still beating Dick now turned their attention to you. Every cell of your body was now beaming with the utmost energy. Your eyes, now glowing as powerful as the sword in your hands. This distraction gave the fiery pink haired woman a chance to drag Dick away. The first attacker only got one footstep in before you launched yourself his way, bluntly knocking his face with the shield directly into the ground. An orb of energy warned you of the attacker coming from behind as you swung your leg around, breaking his jaw with all your might. Your morals were never to kill, only burden them with injuries much worse.
As a gunshot went off, you sprung at the bullet blocking it from killing the purple haired girl behind you. You took it into your chest, dissolving it. Before he could shoot again, you had already sliced his handgun down the middle with your sword, leaving him with a useless weapon and now a concussion. In the distance you could see his last attacker fleeing. You focussed in, hearing his necklaces rattling as he ran sloppily. You dropped your sword beside you as well as the shield and took off your helmet, unleashing your hair. Your sight zoomed into him, giving you the perfect shot. You thought you might as well have some fun so you threw your helmet straight at his back. The wings charging at him like an angered bull. His broken bones made his body cower to the ground, finishing off your job here.
Everyone was crowded around Dick, the purple haired girl shaking him, begging him to wake up. You cautiously stepped over to them, squatting down next to them all. You placed your palm onto his chest, above his heart. You could feel their stares cutting into your body but you had to focus on him. You closed your eyes and let yourself drift off to let their power guide you. Your fingertips tapped softly against his chest piece, trying to figure out who to call upon. Your mouth fell agape, their name whispering it’s way off your tongue. “Achelois, she who washes away pain, heal him through me.” A beam of glimmering light shone down from the sky above us all entering into you.
“No what the hell is this!” You heard the woman shriek. “Get your hands off of him, guys?! Anyone?” She looked around at everyone but they were too distracted by the light surrounding them. She raised her hands up at you but she was too late. Dick started coughing up blood into your chest. His grands grasped onto your shoulder plates as he pulled himself up from the ground.
The pink haired girl was still in disbelief as Dick carried on coughing into your chest, trying to catch his breath. “You haven’t done that in a while.” He choked out as he let out a blood covered smile. You patted him on the shoulder, showing the same welcome-back to him. You nodded to the tiger that was now a boy (you had to figure out how that worked) so he could come pick up Dick. The young girl rushed to his side, helping balance the weight of the muscular boy wonder. You turned with them and started walking back to a beat up van that you guessed was theirs. You could hear everyone’s footsteps except for one pair. You peaked over your shoulder, seeing her once again raising her hands. “Don’t you guys get it? She’s just some random girl who showed up and we don’t even know what she’s done to him! For all we know he could be slowly dying instead of healing!” A heavy protective tone coming from her.
Everyone turned around, the two teens struggling to turn Dick around with them. Her eyes started glowing green and her skin a bright orange, you guess she still had some left in the tank. Dick sighed, “Don’t try it Kory, it won’t work on he-“ before he could finish his sentence she shot out pure flames from her hands.
Dick was right, it wouldn’t work. Although it looked like you were getting burnt to a crisp, your cells were absorbing the heat energy she was emitting. The longer she carried on, the more energy you absorbed. You turned your head, looking back at Dick, your entire body looking as if you were the sun itself shining with all this energy. By the look on your face he could tell you were over her theatrics. “KORY STOP! IT ISN'T WORKING!” He yelled at her, his chest heaving from being both beaten to a pulp and being frustrated at her.
So then she decided to stop. She cowered over, exhausted from her attempt to hurt you. “What are you?” She panted out. She slowly walked towards you, patting your arm feeling for any heat. You reached your arm out to her but she cowered away. “I’m not going to hurt you… do you want all that” You motioned to where the fire was “back in you?” She was confused but nodded anyway. You set your hand onto her arm and let yourself go. Instantly the heat and energy streamed from you back to her. Her eyes fired back up into the bright green and her hands sparked out by her side. She shook her head the same way someone would if they had a brain freeze and then turned her attention back to you whispering out a quick “Thank you.”
Dick was still weak but he was slowly healing. You instructed Kory to drive you all back to wherever they were staying, which Rachel said wasn’t even their place. The tiger boy sat in the front seat with Dick being sprawled across both you and Rachel. You formed back into your usual clothes before you got into the car but threw the sword in the boot alongside Dick’s top half of his costume. We had to strip him down to properly heal him. Kory was not happy about that. Your back was up against the door with your legs sprawled out along the seat, Dick was laying against your chest, softly sleeping as he passed out from all his injuries.
You spoke quietly to Rachel, trying not to distract the two in the front. “In order to heal him” You looked down at him, he looked so quiet but so broken. “we need to work together.” She looked at her hands and shook her head, tears coming to her eyes. “I’ll just hurt him, I might even kill him…” She looked at you for some comfort so you reached out for her hand, entwining your fingers with hers. “I promise you, we will not hurt him. I can feel that you’re scared of your powers, your darkness.” Her eyes dropped into her lap. “But you don’t have to let it control you, it is a part of you and you can use it for good.” You egged her on with hopeful eyes. She squeezed your hand, telling you to go on. “Now you’ll feel my light go into you and your...darkness go into me” she yanked her hand away “it won’t hurt me, again we will balance each other out. It’s for him Rachel.” You rubbed his chest feeling his heartbeat steady. Kory’s stares didn’t go unnoticed, there must be something going on between them.
Slowly Rachel gave you her hand and you started. You taught her to look deeply inside herself and she explained the last time she healed someone it was traumatic for her. The poor girl had been through so much, too much. This reminded you of Dick when he was younger.
Her dark purple hair started to glow a bright lavender as yours crept into a dark grey. She was giggling, telling you she felt warm all over. Your body on the other hand felt uncomfortable, as if it was dying, but you would never tell her. Together you each put one of your hands on him and let your powers flow into him. He started wriggling around in your chest, showing you two that it was working. You laughed under your breath because even Dick’s hair started glowing as well. His eyes opened to all of you glowing together in the back seat causing him to sit up from your chest. He peeled off his mask and looked back at you.
“You’re here now?” He questioned. You nodded silently staring into his dark eyes. You didn’t know what to do next but he quickly pulled you into a tight hug. You were surprised from it but softened into it, letting his arms surround you. It felt so comfortable, so familiar. When you came out of the hug you looked over to Rachel awkwardly sitting there but her face softened. “You were the one who caused the lightning. The ‘gold glowing light’ as Gar described it.” You looked over to Dick and he was gleaming at you, he must have gone through so much before you got here.
“Yeah, that was me.” You chuckled out. “Sorry for the extravaganza of an entrance.” She giggled and looked out the window at the stars and then back to you. “They glow brighter when you’re around.” She smirked.
“A lot of things glow when she’s around.” Dick replied.
You could tell he meant himself as his smile grew that bit more. Together you all quieted down in the back seat, settling in for the ride. You placed your head against the window getting ready to sleep. Your eyes shut, but then an elbow nudged into you softly. You opened one of your eyes to see Dick looking down at you and then at his shoulder. You smiled and shook your head at him, he became giddy like a child. You leant in to his face and whispered “I’m not sleeping on you...especially when you smell like that.” You chirped, seeing the offended look rise on his face. This earned you a cold shoulder as he rested his head back on the seat, settling to sleep like that. You went back to your position on the window and nuzzled into it. He peeked at you one last time. Memories flashed from when Alfred would drive you home, both of you sleeping in the back seat.
Your position never changed, your face pressed up against the window with your elbow on the arm rest. He still found it to be quite uncomfortable and also quite adorable.
