Part IV: the logo ---- @celula.arquitectura re-designed the logo @puertocandelaria playing with collage and some elements we used before for the animated intro. This collaged logo is being displayed on the screen during part of the concert therefore the animation is quite slow so it wouldn’t compete with their performance on stage. Regresemos con #animationmonday Esta vez con parte del proceso para realizar los visuals con los que están de gira @loscandelarios en el #ilogicotour en Europa. Con @mpvallejo nos reunimos con @juanchosargento y @sofyponyo. Para realizar el intro que se pone al inicio del concierto nos pidieron una pieza para descubrir el puerto de la candelaria. La idea giraba en darle la vuelta a las imágenes que uno siempre encuentra del trópico. Tenía que tener algo de absurdo, misterioso y sobre todo que sorprendiera. Nos pusimos a construir una pequeña historia y la idea era hacerla con collage análogo animado. Este fue el Storyboard desde el que construimos a distancia las animaciones que están girando de ciudad en ciudad. ///////////////// It all started with a long meeting Paula had with @juanchosargento and @sofyponyo in Medellin, because of time zones I’m 7 hours ahead of them and couldn’t joined the meeting. Some keywords that came during the meeting revolved around approaching the image of the tropic from a different angle. How could we represent the tragic and absurds situations that happen there and the comic and mysterious ways of living in the Port of la Candelaria? Our main goal was to make an animated Intro for the concerts plus some loops to play along some songs. As soon as we started we decided to work with collage, which is a medium in which both of us are working for some years now. The #analogcollages were made most of it by Paula and I animated the scanned parts of it digitally. But the first step was of course a Storyboard. #animationmonday has been a priority every week, either posting something I've been working on, or just siting for an afternoon and trying something out so that I can post it. It has been crazy weeks. Between excitement for future plans, supporting festival production and classes I barely had time to animate. Yesterday I managed to animate again. I was a bit nervous because I started to work without a plan and I was thinking I should be dealing with the other stuff instead. I also questioned myself, what's the point of this? Is it worth it? But I kind of tried to ignore the questions and slid into making it happen. I found this umbrellas between my prop's boxes and tried out what was possible with it. Now I know that I might be using this test for a project I still have to finish. ---- We are always persueing answers, waiting for lifesavers. #memorybits Nr. 2 “Ischgl, Tirol 1978” ----- Two months ago we chose a new postcard to work with. “Ischgl, Tirol 1978”. Have we been there before? Unpronounceable name, a year in which none of us existed. Ischgl, Tirol 1978. Looking at the snowy mountains @manuel.sonidero composed a music track. It had to be cold. Ski. White and grey in motion. I animated over the music, over the random beats, the cable car. We are traveling in time, no. We bring 1978 to 2019. Bits over beats. It has been almost two months since together with @sandra.motion we led this beautiful #animationworkshop in Berlin. Our participants did great job and I think they had fun! For the past three weeks I worked with @mpvallejo on visuals for @loscandelarios. Here is part of the process of creating and animating the lighthouse. The lighthouse is an emblematic image of Puerto Candelaria and was one of the first things I animated —though the design changed quite a bit in the process. Since their imaginary is so detailed, it was important for them that it fit in well in this world, so we had to tweak it until it matched what they had in mind.  The visuals were first shown last Friday on the first concert of their 2019 tour and they will come to Europe soon! I'm very grateful that the opportunity for this collaboration presented itself, and I'm extremely happy with the results we were able to achieve given the timeframe.  I'm very much looking forward to developing further animations together in the future!  This is just a start!  ///// Finalmente puedo mostrar un poco mas de la colaboración que hice con Puerto Candelaria y mi hermana Maria Paula. "Starry Night" - For today’s #animationmonday, I created a short sequence based on some tests I did trying to get a kind of animated fluctuation for the animation I've been working on together with @mpvallejo for @loscandelarios. - While editing this, I thought about the composition of the elements in this space: How to deal with points of interest while at the same time maintaining balance. Visual weights, are placed in the center in this case and get counterbalanced by a constellation of other points. A network of focus points  spread over the animation space. I couldn't help to connect that with real constellations (those in the sky) and how there is a balance between their infinite number and those we can see with our naked eye. For the sound I chose the crickets to conjure the summer.
