Hard to explain when people ask what’s wrong that you just don’t really like existing

Stop shaming people for being passionate about the things that they love. Stop mocking people for having unusual interests. Like, honestly, I’m so tired of feeling embarrassed for being "too much". If being too much means having deep interests that fill my life with romanticism and excitement, then let me be!! I’d much rather listen to anyone ranting about their latest obsession with 16th century swords than have a boring ordinary conversation with those who shame passionate people.

Things like depression, anxiety, and a whole host of other things can really mess with a person's memory.

Neurotypical standards have really rubbed away at my self-esteem so persistently that I have spent years trying to take-up as little space in everyone else's lives as possible
Asking for help feels like a betrayal of the impulse to make myself small and convenient

I would preferably like it to be okay some of the time though… if that’s okay?

I think people overlook the inability to regulate body temperature as a sign of impending burnout
When things are really deteriorating I find that I can never be a happy medium between hot and cold - I'm either freezing and feel the need to wrap myself in layers upon layers or I'm so uncomfortably hot that I'm sweating
It's like my body is trying to tell me that I am dysregulated to the point of needing to stop everything before burnout properly hits

Things neurotypical people do that confuse me.
They’ll say “it’s time to go” so I go outside and stand by the car… I wait….. no one else comes outside.
I go back inside and see that they are still talking to someone, haven’t put their shoes on, decide it’s time to cook a four course meal, etc.
Like… you said it was time to go…. Why are we not going????

Cannot overstate the panic and dismay I feel when people's responses in a social interaction do not follow the multiple scripts that I have invented and rehearsed in my head prior to the interaction
Suddenly all my preparation is thrown out of the window and I'm having to juggle masking, listening and processing a thousand variables at once

True isolation is when everyone else is talking about their vibrant teenage experience and you’re like. I was just trying to survive

There's nothing like finding out that you were the punchline to a joke that you didn't understand for literal years...
a bottom-tier autistic experience is being told throughout your entire childhood that you are just an overthinker when it comes to social situations and later finding out that your friends did, in fact, hate being around you and tried to communicate that through weird little hints

Genuinely if someone feels comfortable enough with you that they will infodump whilst with you take that as such a compliment
So many neurodivergent people have been shamed for being 'too extra' about their interests to the extent that we learn to hide them from others
So if someone opens-up to you about their special interest please know that you are being trusted against a backdrop of a life when they've probably learned to mask that part of themselves as a form of social survival for so long
