let's talk about regulus arcturus black for a moment. now i think the fandom has pretty much accepted (at least from what i can tell by fanfictions) that regulus was a classy motherfucker. he took shit with class and elegance. pretty much the opposite of sirius. a prime example of what a slytherin should look like. as a child , he looked up to sirius a LOT. more than he looked up to his father (who was hardly around enough for them to speak , always at the bloody ministry of magic doing merlin knows what). his amazing older brother , who was loud and brave and courageous , outgoing and made friends in 30 seconds flat. who had an ego bigger than the london tower was tall. when sirius came home after first year , talking about his amazing new friends named remus and james and a peter , and "an annoying redheaded stuck up prick named lily evans." and of course , severus snape , or as sirius called him , "a greasy prick." and his parents were outraged because the entire house of black was slytherin , but regulus was ecstatic because it suited him so well. he was everything gryffindor house looked for. gryffindor , where all the good guys went. when it was time for regulus to get sorted , nervous hardly explained how he was feeling. "slytherin!" the hat had called out. cheers came from the slytherin house while others booed , and regulus briefly caught his brother's glare as he walked to the table , putting on a smirk. after that , regulus didn't show much emotion. emotion made you vulnerable and weak , easier to be hurt. when he got home after his first year , telling his parents about everything , till it was bed time. he had looked at sirius sadly , murmuring a soft "i'm sorry , brother." he got no reply. the next time sirius black heard about his youngest brother , it was when he was announced dead.
