I'm 3 days out recovering from my top wisdom teeth getting pulled, and one day fresh from finishing William Gibson's Burning Chrome so I have a head full of cyberpunk syntax and slang-cool cadence in my inner monologue. I didn't get to sleep not really, I took a chance and did that thing where the clock said 5:38 am and I knew I had to get up at 7 for psychosexual mental reasons so instead of sleeping the best I could do was lay down, get comfortable, ride a nod -- a slipstream of exhaustion -- then if I caught the backend of that I could drag my ass up and feel giddy and wired and unfocused but awake enough to do morning things.. I had been up all night gooning to a new file on a new(er) build of Cyberslayers (version point four point one) (I'd say edging but I want to mention the word in another context later) and when you get jacked back into Maelion's Zenon City there suddenly aren't enough hours in the world for you. But here I am and my cerebellum pulled the ripcord at 6:40 and I thought "not bad at all" I felt like I was skydiving I felt like the looming threat of dry socket on my teeth holes was a million light years away, I felt like I was lightyears away from any feeling of reality (total sleep deprived senses out of tune with touch etc) I felt LIKE a William Gibson character, desperate and wired and full of Edge with a capital E (told you about using that word) except my ennui ending is I gotta rinse with Peridex and leave it for 30 minutes before rinsing that off
