Honestly didn't expect it to win! I was so sure the pirates au would i win i prepared some sketches already lol. And it appears i bit too much to chew with this au. Because of the different proportions it's harder to draw certain poses so i apologize if they came out a little wonky. But hey! The whole purpose of this au was so that i can practice drawing animals, and im getting better little by little! I know i promised more of the company but it came out to be harder than i thought to accomplish that 😭. I was able to stuff Fili and Kili into the sketches tho! Anyway hope you enjoy this bunch!

I was going through references for dwarven clothes and stumbled upon those little hats dwarflings wear and i couldn't help myself but imagine Dwobbit Frodo wearing one. Then i ended up with a whole outfit lol. I wanted to make two variants. One for winter, explaining why Frodo is wearing boots, and another one for less colder seasons. I also wanted to depict the duality of his character, where he's a very sweet and a little bit shy boy and where he's acting more boisterous and adventurous! His design is still under development and i plan on adding more details!

Also i just cant not draw Thorin ugly crying whenever he sees his son (he understands Gloin more now)

I've heard this headcannon once or twice saying that Hobbit's sleep in piles. So i had to interpret that but with Thorin, Bilbo and Frodo, in the end i had the fluffiest family feels doodle ever.

I think Frodo would definitely be a kicker when he sleeps. And when he's sleeping with Bilbo and Thorin and gets out of control with his kicking (Thorin being his main victim), he has to get carried back into his own bed.

Thorin would snore, especially when hes comfortable and is feeling safe. When he snores, he's probably also having the best sleep ever. Bilbo got used to dwarrow snoring while travelling with thirteen of them and Frodo's a heavy sleeper (he could sleep upside down if he wanted) so it never became a problem.

A little sketch of an AU i had in mind for a while now. (Though this is mainly just a way to force myself to get better at drawing animals lol.)

So you guys know how Hobbits don't wear shoes? Well this is kinda the same thing except it's with pants. Hobbits are super confused why other races restricted their movements like that and think that pants are nasty uncomfortable things. The company was bewildered when Bilbo chased after them when they left Bag End with NO pants. Thorin being very embarrassed at this wouldn't look him in the eye and avoid him at all cost. Bilbo thinks he's still mad at him. Misunderstandings occur.

Anyway this sounded a lot funnier in my head. Let me know if y'all would like to see more sketched of them!

I couldn't stop thinking about Dwobbit Frodo for the love of me and just HAD to draw him. It certainly didn't help seeing @mathelaw 's headcannons for Dwobbits lmfaoo. I still can't decide if I want to keep his style more Ereborian or lean more towards the Reshirement style. Either way I wanted to draw Thorin looking proudly at his son for the sake of my own soul.

Flower symbolism (There wasn't enough space so I'm gonna put it here):

-Frodo's red jacket: Oak leaves - strenght

-Bilbo's shirt: Nemophilia - Happiness, you're my one and only (haha get it? One? yeah)

The fact that The Hobbit is such a lighthearted family-friendly book, especially when compared to LOTR, actually breaks my heart when you consider that it is Bilbo’s writing. That journey was anything but a fun trip for him. He went through real dangers and horrifying moments. He saw violence for the first time. At the end of it, he lost his love. And he went home traumatized, heartbroken, and forever changed.

Yet when he wrote the story down, he emphasized the more successful and fun parts, and glossed over the depth of his pain and grief when the losses happened (even leaving Fili and Kili’s passing to a throwaway line.)

Because what else could he have done? Nobody else could possibly understand his pain. Bilbo wasn’t like Frodo. He didn’t have a Sam who he shared the experience with and could talk to about it every day afterward, to help him work through writing down the details of the darker parts of the story. And his other friends lived far away and could only visit occasionally.

And the hobbit children were all full of wonder about Elves and dwarves and trolls, so he put the focus on that.

I feel like that was his way of dealing with his trauma.

I've been re-reading A Hobbit's Gamble by CQueen on ao3 for the third time now and it had me imagining what Bilbo's clothes would look like if he stayed in Erebor and became Thorin's consort. I decided to create a balance between Hobbit and Dwarvish fashion for these two outfits, one being for the outdoors and the other for indoors. That being the the jacket, waist coast and capri pants mixed with capes and belts. The colour palette also become handy in creating that balance. I mixed Hobbit's bright colours and Durin's blue,which represents his statues in the royal family (This is also Thorin's favourite part of his outfits). It is often discussed how flowers and plants are important to Hobbits and with that I added embroidery of different flowers with meanings that are compatible with Bilbo. The flowers on his head are mostly just a replacement for a crown for day to day. Please comment if I should add something, I love reading your ideas!

Focusing more on Thorin this time! Thorin is part of the uni's rugby team and the captain of the said team (I don't know shit about sports so I'm sorry if I use the wrong terminology). It's hard for Thorin to balance out his studies in architecture and also sport, but it is expected of him since both his father and grandfather were great athletes, captains and students. He loves the sport but he would prefer more to pursue his career as an architect.

(Sorry for the bad anatomy, it's very rushed but I really needed them to smooch)

Literally just woke up and saw this, I’m absolutely in love with this idea. This could be one of the ways dwarves start to warm up to and trust Bilbo. Either way I really love this 😭😭

A very very sloppy coloured version of a doodle I've had in my sketchbook for months now. The idea was that when Bilbo decided to stay in Erebor after BOAF, a rumour (not really) started to spread that Bilbo being a hobbit and all has Yavanna's blessing to have many children. And since dwarrows have a very low birth rate, everybody thinks Bilbo can somehow "bless" them with Yavanna's "magic" to have healthy dwarflings/give women a quick and painless birth (hope that makes sense). I basically just love the endless misunderstandings with cultural differences between hobbits and dwarrows, I find then really funny lol. I also love the idea of Bilbo being very bad with children (he gets better after Frodo comes along, with the help of Thorin ofc).

I was thinking about giving Bilbo a therapy animal. The animal being ofc a bunny. I think losing his parents at a young age had a big toll on his mental health, and Gandalf suggested Bilbo to get a therapy pet for company. Radagast was obviously the one who suggested a bunny lol. I'm not entirely sure about this idea, tell me what you think!
