“When she applied to run in the Boston Marathon in 1966 they rejected her saying: “Women are not physiologically able to run a marathon, and we can’t take the liability.” Then exactly 50 years ago today, on the day of the marathon, Bobbi Gibb hid in the bushes and waited for the race to begin. When about half of the runners had gone past she jumped in. She wore her brother’s Bermuda shorts, a pair of boy’s sneakers, a bathing suit, and a sweatshirt. As she took off into the swarm of runners, Gibb started to feel overheated, but she didn’t remove her hoodie. “I knew if they saw me, they were going to try to stop me,” she said. “I even thought I might be arrested.” It didn’t take long for male runners in Gibb’s vicinity to realize that she was not another man. Gibb expected them to shoulder her off the road, or call out to the police. Instead, the other runners told her that if anyone tried to interfere with her race, they would put a stop to it. Finally feeling secure and assured, Gibb took off her sweatshirt. As soon as it became clear that there was a woman running in the marathon, the crowd erupted—not with anger or righteousness, but with pure joy, she recalled. Men cheered. Women cried. By the time she reached Wellesley College, the news of her run had spread, and the female students were waiting for her, jumping and screaming. The governor of Massachusetts met her at the finish line and shook her hand. The first woman to ever run the marathon had finished in the top third.”

He asked me when I fell in love with him and I knew it sounded dramatic to say the moment I saw him, so I told him this story of my grandma who had Alzheimer's- she forgot her name and the words for fruit and food, she forgot her address and how to use the washroom, all her life lost to the disease. The only thing she remembered was her son's name and when that began to fade, the one thing she always remembered was that she loved him, even in illness, even in insanity. She saw this 6 foot 2 man with a scrubby beard and she didn't know him but she said she trusted him, she asked him to hold her hand when she died. When does memory end and love begin? All I know is- she loved him before she remembered him.

“I’ve never had fear. I still have absolutely no fear when I’m in the car. The day I start to feel fear is the day I will stop racing because I won’t be able to perform at my best if I have fear in the car.”
- Charles Leclerc, Il Predestinato

the drivers and how they’d react to being stuck in a lift
lewis - the lift wouldn’t get stuck in the first place because it knows it has the king in it
valtteri - this man is so done he’d probably just get on the floor and sleep
max - gets angry and just kicks the lift until the doors open
checo - doesn’t realise the lift has stopped working and just thinks is going really slowly between floors
daniel - starts an instagram livestream that lasts 3 hours, doesn’t stop talking about it for weeks
lando - panics and calls george, george just laughs at him
lance - tries not to panic but just stands there like :^) this is fine while repeatedly pressing the emergency help button
seb - would probably pull out a toolkit out of nowhere and start fixing it, he’s v resourceful
esteban - mans built like a noodle he can probably slither out of the gap and escape that way
fernando - finds it funny for the first 10 minutes but after then he gets annoyed and starts shouting at the people trying to rescue him
charles - asks himself ‘what would seb do’, tries to fix it, makes everything worse
carlos - *rattles lift doors* let me ouuuuuuuut
pierre - calls the first number on his phone for help, its helmut marko, is told ‘max would be able to escape’ then the call ends
yuki - just sits calmly and quietly playing games on his phone until they save him
kimi - just stands there like a sim that’s been given no instructions until the doors eventually are opened
antonio - full on panic mode, messes with his hair to pass the time, comes out with very messy hair and is on his knees thanking his saviours
george - *british voice* ‘what’s all this then?’ hands on hip, glaring at the control panel until it works again
nicky - ‘oops haha!’ is weirdly smiley about it all and it was an adventure for him <3 they took a while to rescue him because everyone forgets he exists </3
mazepin - no one rescues him and they just leave him there <3
mick - calls seb to ask for help because he doesn’t know what to do, seb is the one to rescue him what a sweet thing

Watch: Regular women and celebrities, many of whom have survived sexual assault or harassment, are banding together to tell Trump “It’s not okay”
In the cases of all the women who spoke out in the video, there was no justice. Their assaulters and harassers walked free because either nobody believed them or there was nothing they could do. The Trump tape was one of many final straws. "We’re not gonna take it any more,“ Amber Tamblyn said. “Like, for real, we’re not.”

You know, we are actually so far away from women having the same rights as men. In fact I think we can never fully achieve equality. Sorry for being so pessimistic about it. But look at them: African tribes, women's funds or your neighbour. And have you seen your president?
