I really don't like any version of "Jason learns one tiny fact about how people reacted to his death and immediately is crushed by how unfair he was being and forgives everyone!!!"

However there is one version of this I would allow due to it being very funny, not a complete waste of his character potential, and close to providing real evidence of something that would let him give Bruce a pass:

Superman realizes who the Red Hood is and why he's gunning for Batman and decides to try to straighten things out before the end of Under the Red Hood. He flies over to him and explains that he was the one stopping Bruce from killing the Joker. This gets understood as Supes being the reason Batman still can't kill him. Then Jason immediately pivots his entire life to becoming a Superman villain.

Bruce gets a phonecall: "Hi Dad, I forgive you, and I'm gonna need that 100 pounds of kryptonite back right fucking now."

#genius take + audibly cackled at the addition #he will never learn he will never change <3 #actually jason shouldn't be allowed to go to college because he'd tear it up too hard in the lit analysis classes #'but jason wait bruce was so upset he almost killed himself' ok. and this is his problem because...? #maybe if bruce had set a good example and gotten therapy jason wouldn't have felt the need for all that. #we'll never know bc the only thing he fears more than bats is working to have a healthy psyche capable of regulating personal emotions #btw jason could absolutely kill it as a superman villain but i do think that he'd go on like a 1 year hiatus to do a deep dive into superma #his past villains his traumas his exes his respective situationships with lois and lex luthor #so that he can bring the appropriate vibe. an outfit with thematic relevance. the proper soul-rending monologues. cooler guns #nobody really knows what to do about the situation. like he left all the bats hanging mid-dramatic plot. get fucked ig? #if superman focuses he can hear jason blatantly training for this new role in like lithuania or somethin. but he prefers not to focus on it #like what else is he going to do? seek out and arrest batman's hypercompetent supervillain son for being shady? no. #he'll cross that extremely unfortunate bat-themed bridge when he gets to it okay? okay. #also can we get a huge RIFP for lex in this AU though. my guy is about to get the black mask treatment. retweet to slap his bald head momen #jason todd #clark kent #text posts #character meta #redhoodinternaldialectical #queue and what toaster

the thing about generally-accepted broad fanon batfam dynamics is that even if you disregard the complete stripping of all nuance in order to make a perfectly nuclear family with no lasting or significant conflict etc etc, half of it is all just built on vaguely (or explicitly) racist stereotypes anyway, like .......... ah yes the little half arab boy is a violent feral gremlin who can't fit in with refined polite society. the half east asian girl is the golden child who never speaks and is good at everything and has no flaws because she's the favorite who holds the family together. the romani one is a slut. au where the bats manage to stay urban legends, sure other heroes know of them, but they help largely from the shadows, they aren't put on display and they're hardly known at All outside of the strange circle of gotham's goons

that changes when duke thomas stares batman down and says on no uncertain terms that he's working day shift

the signal is Gotham's first confirmed superhero, and he wears a bat on his chest

social media goes Wild fighting over whether the Batman existed all along or if someone finally got the tech and powers to make the bat (or a bat) Real

suddenly the world of superheros feels a lot more real to the citizens of Gotham who got used to horrible disasters being either ignored or neatly cleaned away from the public eye, now there's a guy getting thrown through windows and helping grannies cross the street and the war between gotham and metropolis gets even more cut throat
