Pilot and Buddy!

They are both Ty Classic doggies. It’s interesting to see how differently they are shaped!

Pilot is from 2003, and Buddy is from 2000. Pilot’s original name was Schultzie, and Buddy’s original name was Sheriff.

🍈 how do you choose names for your plushies?

Usually I go based on vibes, like the first name/word that pops into my head when I see the plushie! However, sometimes I will give a plushie a name that has a meaning to it.

🥭 tell me about your favourite category of plush to collect

This is tricky bc Idk what the categories are ?? Like do you mean species, or color, or size….

I guess my favorite plushies to collect rn would be medium-sized, floppy canine plushies! I like when plushies are big enough to hug, but I don’t want them too big because I don’t have a lot of space! I also prefer floppy plushies because they are better to hug than stiff ones. However… I don’t mind if the plush is a little bit stiff yknow? I just don’t like the ones that are basically hard statues

🍎 how do you organize / store / display your plush collection?

Okay so I like to organize my plushies online using lists and stuff! But I always get busy and never finish the lists. I’m trying to upload all my plushies to DA rn…!

I store/display my plushies on shelves and my bed!! I would love to post photos but unfortunately… my room is a mess rn… I was planning on cleaning today but I didn’t feel the best. Maybe I will clean tomorrow…

The plushies on my bed are medium and big sized. They get to be stacked in a completely random order, because I struggle to make them all fit lol!

Then I have small and more medium plushies on shelves. Those are somewhat randomized… but I try to keep similar plushies together!

Ohhh I LOVE organizing them and making lists about them!!!! Just writing down various information about the plushies and organizing it by alphabetical order or whatever…..

It’s also very fun to take them outside for photos! Unfortunately I haven’t been able to do that for a long time because my health has gotten worse :(

1. Webkinz Signature Timber Wolf

- I love the design so much, and they look so soft! But no way am I paying those high prices for one. (Seriously? $100+ for a medium sized plush??? I can understand if it’s OOAK plush but it’s not. It was mass produced. There’s hundreds of them out there.) Anyway, I can only hope to find one at a thrift store or garage sale…

2. SOS Timber Wolf 19in (circa 2003 I think?

- The big one of this plush is so cute!! I really like it. Looks cuddly too! Unfortunately whenever I see one for sale…. It’s too expensive. I think they used to be on Amazon for a good price but I can’t find them anymore :(

3. Amelia the Border Collie by Douglas

- Just look at her face!!! She is so unique and pretty!!!! However I am not paying $1000 for a medium sized, mass produced plushie. That’s just outrageous.

answering that last ask has me missing Yellow Baby and Hippo…

I know they are in my closet somewhere… but it’s a huge mess.

Yellow Baby is in such bad shape, I don’t think I could even pick him up without him ripping in half (serious)

I think Hippo is in much better shape, but I’m not sure.

I kind of want to hug Hippo again.

Yellow Baby too, but I don’t want to destroy him even more.

🍇 what is the story of your very first comfort object?

YELLOW BABY MY BELOVED….

He looked like this. Yellow lion plush with a hard head that played music, and a teether/chew toy thing on the end of his tail.

I got him the day I was born! He stayed with me until he got too damaged. I took him everywhere! The last time I saw him, his fabric was literally see through, and his head was falling off. He is sitting deep in my closet somewhere…. Resting in peace.

🍉 if you thrift plushies, how do you choose which ones to take home?

Very carefully…. I have a list of plushies in my brain that I am looking for… but also I will get random plushies if they look cool or unique, and if the price is good! I still focus mostly on dog plushies though.

I don’t mind thrifting plushies with stains or holes, because those can usually be fixed. I also don’t really care what brand it is.

Basically: if it’s 1 I’ve been looking for, or if it’s cool… it will be mine!

🍒 tell me about a cool adventure you’ve taken your plushie on!

When I was in preschool (age 3), I had surgery to remove my tonsils. I wanted to take Yellow Baby with me, but the hospital wouldn’t allow it because of his hard head. So I took my second favorite plush… Hippo the hippopotamus!

Hippo is a white hippo plushie. He came with me to get my tonsils removed because I was scared. I remember this young nurse (?) was very nice to me! She asked me what Hippo’s name was, and she gave him his own hospital wrist band. I was so excited that both me and Hippo had matching bracelets!

She also explained the surgery to me in a way that helped calm me down. She basically said that Hippo and I would take a nap, and then when we woke up we could eat a popsicle!

But I was still scared of getting an IV…. So she gave Hippo a fake IV to help calm me down :) she showed me that it doesn’t hurt a lot! And Hippo was so brave and didn’t cry, so I could be brave too!

Sorry that was a lot… I just really appreciate medical staff who take the time to be nice to patients. There’s not a lot of them these days, so this is a very fond memory that I have.

Thrift store haul! Brand new calendar and a beanie baby snail!!!

The snail was washed yesterday but he’s gonna take a long time to dry because my fan is broken. So bro has to air dry the old fashioned way without a cool breeze….

(Also my thrift store is greedy now bc the snail was $4!!!! FOUR DOLLARS for a dirty little plushie?!?! The brand new calendar was $1 tho so that’s nice at least)
