just had this surreal moment, looking at gifs from Buffy on my dash because all the characters look like BABIES. because they are babies. the actors were babies at the time, compared to my current age.

surreal moment because i've discovered & fell in love with BtVS when i was 8 years old, had my hyperfixated BtVS phase between the ages of 14 and 16. they all used to look like GROWN UPS TO ME. even when they were babies, they looked like grown ass people.

now they're just babies.

After watching Secret Society of Second Born Royals (again) and hearing that line about how it's been a thing for over a thousand years that second born royal siblings have superpowers, I wanted to make a listing of some disney/pixar characters who, by that logic, would have powers, and my theories as to what those powers would be!

Princess Amber (Sofia the First)

My sister and I feel like Royal Prep from Sofia is a lot of the inspiration for the Strathmore school for royals from SSOSB, so it makes sense that some characters from the Sofiaverse get to be part of the society. With Amber's character development throughout Sofia, by the time she got her powers, she would've been a force for good with them and gotten to keep them. Her story is a lot about handling her jealousy and learning that the world doesn't revolve around her, and I think her powers might have something to do with that.

Isabel (Elana of Avalor)

Isabel would definitely get to keep her powers, and they'd probably have to do with a super-charged memory or powers of incredible retention of information.

Alana (The Little Mermaid)

(Alana is the second to last one in this gif.) She's somewhat obsessed with beauty, though not in a vain way. I think shapeshifting or some kind of charmspeak would make sense with her.

Anna (Frozen)

Based on what we know from Frozen, either Anna was a very late bloomer, or she ended up stripped of her powers. It might be because of what she saw Elsa go through with her powers that she decided to renounce them entirely— or, because Elsa found out about her supernatural abilities and didn't want Anna to feel like a monster like she did, so she made sure her sister's powers were revoked to protect her from public opinion.

Prince Ralphie (Princess and The Frog)

Ralphie would have a unique balance of roles to handle, as both a second-born royal and, since his older brother was disinherited, eventual king, but I think he'd do well!

one of the triplets (Brave)

I can't find any information on which of the triplets is the oldest. Based on the fact that January had powers and her twin brother did not, we can assume only the oldest of these boys would be a super, which might cause some rifts or tension when he has to keep it a secret from his brothers.

I may make another post like this later about any Second Born Royals from OUaT, but for now, what are y'all's thoughts?

The Rose Gold Ring Leap

Frozen, Olympics AU, Amber Bjorgman/Ryder Nattura

Amber's head was spinning.  Ryder was going to propose to her, and that's why he had been avoiding her. It wasn’t because he was mad at her or that she did something wrong.  Or worse, that he had fallen out of love with her.  No, he was just scared. 

Amber chewed on her lip as she jogged in place and stretched her arms behind her, trying to think about the vault, and not the man in the bleachers above her whose cowardice was breaking her heart.

“Amber, you deserve so much better than that creep," her ex-boyfriend said while his eyes trained on Ryder's.

Amber's face softened as she watched Ryder's turn to crumbling stone.

Then Damian tried to hug her, and thank goodness he did because it made it OK for her to knee him in the nuts. She didn't do it because he touched her without permission, though, or because of how badly he treated her when they were together, or even because he was the only man she ever hated.

"He is not a creep!" she shouted while he fell to the ground.  As she stood over the pathetic corpse of what she once thought was love, she realized there wasn't anything she wouldn't do to protect her real love.

Her eyes caught Ryder's and he sat up a little taller.  In her loudest voice, so everyone - her dad, her mom, Aunt Elsa and Uncle Jack, and Ryder's mom, Rapunzel - could hear her, she said,

“Ryder Nattura, will you marry me?”

"Hell yeah, I will!"

he shouted from hands to his mouth amplifying his excitement.

He quickly descended the stadium seats until he fell. The entire gym, a symphony of sympathy, waited for him to get up.

"I'm ok!" he said, popping up like a mongoose, while Amber covered an elated giggle with the tips of her chalky fingers.

Then he flipped his skateboard, and skated down the steps, grinding the railing every once in a while. Then he finally hopped over the railing as effortlessly as he did when he won his gold medal at the park skate event, and intentionally fell to his knees before Amber, who put her foot on the skateboard to steady it.

“Amber Rose Bjorgman, I love you with all that I am.  You're the reddish gold sunset, and the rose gold twinkling stars sparkling brightly to light up the forest.  You're beautiful and sweet like a rose and you shine like gold in the sun.  You're cute like a cat..."

Amber's vision was getting blurry from the tears threatening to leak, but she couldn't hold back the tiny laugh at this last sentiment.

"...and you're hot like a ballerina..."

"Ry!" she snorted shyly. While she wasn't embarrassed, but her dad was listening.

Ryder blushed, too, when he remembered how close Coach Kristoff was, but carried on, "...and you're cool like a Caterina.  You're beautiful, brave, bold, and brilliant.  I'm so crazy lucky, and...." at this point Amber was completely in tears, and Ryder was having trouble maintaining his own composure.  "...and my heart is completely covered in Amber.”  Then he reached into his pocket and slid the ring onto her finger. 

“Amber rose gold,” she said as she flexed her hand to get a better look, and smiled.

“Of course.  What else would I get for my Amber Rose Gold.”

“I love you, Nattura,” she said as she bent her knees and threw her arms around his neck. Then she kissed him with her whole body.

"I'm so sorry for hurting you, Amber," he whispered to her as he squeezed tighter.

Amber pulled away to look him in the eyes. She held onto his chin lightly and spoke so softly that no one else would hear.  "No more running away, Ryder.  And no more making me cry."

Ryder nodded and wiped the tears from her cheeks.  "I promise," he managed and pressed his forehead to hers.  "I promise, Amber.  I swear."

So I'm looking through the announcements section of the most recent alumni magazine, and the jock himbo science bro I was in a summer flirtationship with to get over my ex (who I was furious with because he broke up with me because I was staying in our college town for the summer to work and he was going home to the Cities and then he had the audacity to change his mind and stay in our tiny college town and drink at MY bar) and who I last saw when we were both completely wasted at QTs 2 days before my graduation now has a baby???? And he looks like a dad????

Anyway, gonna lay on the ground, listen to Iron & Wine, and contemplate my own mortality.
