The new album sounds, as Yagami-san said before, very rockn'roll.

Toll : I just passed on Imai's message, hahahaha !

Hidehiko : I think that... it was a long while that we didn't make such a stirring album, I have that impression.

Yutaka : Our last album goes back about one year, and I thought this pace went fast. Usually it takes one year and half. At the beginning, before recording the album, as it was getting closer, I even thought maybe the songs won't improve, but we could do a very different approach and bring out various aspects.

Toll : You surely heard that at fisrt it was expected there would be a 2 cds set ? In the previous album, there were songs wich weren't included, about 3 or 4. And, as we changed completely the concept, we decided not to put them.

Thus, the song of Hide-san was put aside.

Hidehiko : We will release it in another occasion.

Yutaka : At the beginning, when we made few songs, I didn't have any opinion, but when it was all finished, I thought, wow so that's the result, in a good meaning. And I thought if they were included in the previous album, it's clear that they wouldn't have matched with the rest.

Were you aware of the fact a lot of songs had a digital and speedy sensation ?

Toll : No, I wasn't aware of that. Concerning the songs like "Zangai", I simply thought they sounded rockn'roll and was only concentrated on giving some heaviness to the sound. I just stopped thinking in the details, and simply hit powerfully.

Hidehiko : As far as I am concerned, while we were about to make songs, I smelt that the next album would be like this...

You smelt (laughs).

Hidehiko : I felt it somehow (laughs), so this time somewhere I made my songs thinking more or less about it.

In this album, the lyrics of Imai-san are numerous, aren't they. At the same time, I have the impression they became full of hope and very positive.

Toll : You mean "Girl". Indeed, in the previous album there was this aspect to some extent as well. Like in "Bladerunner of squall". But this time, as Imai-kun sings that much, this side is also brought out. But the fact there are songs sang by Atchan while they are not his lyrics can be interesting for the listeners. All the more when they are as numerous as in this album.

Yes.

Yutaka : I have the impression other qualities of Atchan could arise from there. Atchan said also that but, I think that a song written by someone else changes according to how it is sang. Then, maybe new chemical transformations could occur in a good way.

Were you thinking like that while recording ?

Yutaka : No, as a one who participates, I didn't have that much the impression there were many lyrics of Imai-kun. Though I thought there were many parts sang mainly by Imai-kun (laughs).

Toll : You see you felt it (laughs). I simply thought he was ambitious. He probably had things to write about. He was about to write 1 or 2 more songs, but they wouldn't have been finished for the deadline, so he abandoned it... he was probably high (laughs).

What did you think about his lyrics ?

Toll : I read the lyrics of "Nakayubi (middle finger)" and asked him without thinking : "what's this, you wrote it when you were angry ?", then he said : "not at all..." (laughs).

Hahahahaha. But this time, the lyrics of Sakurai-san and thoses of Imai-san are in a meaning very opposed.

Toll : Yes, but it hasn't changed, it has always been like this. Concerning the songs which are sang by Imai, it's Atchan who simply says : "maybe you should sing it ?" and that why he sings them. He probably does what he feels unconsciously. It has always been the same, so I think they aren't that much conscious about it.

Yutaka : I think I would say the fate or, the fact they two could meet is something enormous.

But half of the lyrics are Imai-san's.

Toll : Maybe the fans will be surprised listening to the album, they would think : "but when Atchan will appear ?" (laughs).

Hidehiko : But it's fresh so it's ok, and exciting.

Toll : It's true that though we've been doing this for a long time, it's the first time he sings entirely a song like "Sid Vicious on the beach", though there were songs where Atchan and Imai sang alternatively. Maybe that's why he had many difficulties doing it. He spent several days recording the vocal part. It seems he didn't feel satisfied, and the first day he said : "I am too enthusiastic, that's bad" (laughs).

Hahahaha.

Toll : It seems that giving a tired impression is the best (laughs).

Hidehiko : You only have to look at them to realize it's evident they two are different (laughs).

Yutaka : Don't you. When you read the lyrics of "Zangai" for exemple, it's clear their vision of the world lets ones think they aren't of the same band but, I think that's why we can do various stuff and are getting wider. Whatever it will be brought, if we can get it as a good stuff, we can do everything. Whithout any doubt.

Toll : You know, Imai brought to us "Zangai" and "Girl" at the same time, saying he finished songs, although they are diametrically opposed.

Yutaka : Only for that you are astonished or... you shoudn't think in order to understand (laughs). You only have to believe it.

Hahahaha.

Toll : Listening to both songs and at the same time trying to understand all is maybe something hard. All the more if you read the lyrics (laughs).

You haven't finished having worries.

Toll : For about 17 years (laughs).

Yutaka : That's why it took a long time before the single was chosen, we all had difficulties to decide which one to chose. Since they were so much at two extremities.

Toll : But though they are two different types, Atchan and Imai are similar. Their conceptions of the world are of course completely opposed, but I think their way to believe somewhere in people is strong.

I see.

Yutaka : Moreover, maybe it's because they are completely opposed that it goes well, that's what I feel when I look at them. And it's rare that they clash. Imai-kun in particulary is preoccupied by aspects which are different from usual preoccupations, and he is very preoccupied by what he himself thinks about what is "cool".

Toll : And there aren't so many persons who can get this aspect and understand it (laughs).

Yutaka : Yes, that's why sometimes we all feel desoriented (laughs).

Toll : And as if he remembered it, he suddenly starts saying : let's play these songs for the lives, and moreover they are old ones (laughs).
