ꪆৎ — there had been an ongoing argument between you and heeseung. he claims sugar cookies are a must for celebrating christmas but you disagree. ; pair boyfriend!heeseung x fem!reader ; genre fluff

you sat on the couch, scrolling through hundreds of different gingerbread recipes. it was a must to have gingerbread on christmas. it was a little tradition you started with you family. every year you would get together and bake some gingerbread.

but this year you weren't gonna spend christmas with your family. you had moved away and you couldn't go visit them. you sent them gifts through the mail so they could still get something from you on christmas.

this year, you were gonna spend christmas with your boyfriend, heeseung. he was pretty excited to spend his first christmas with you. he bought a lot of gifts because of how excited he was.

heeseung sat next to you and layed his head on your shoulder. "what are you doing?" he asked. he closed his eyes, waiting for you to respond. "im looking at gingerbread recipes." heeseung hummed, wrapping his arms around your waist.

"for what?" you turned to look at him. "for christmas." heeseung sat up with a confused expression. "what about the sugar cookies?"

"what sugar cookies?" heeseung scoffed. "don't tell me." you tilted your head to the side. "im gonna need some context here."

"you don't eat sugar cookies for christmas?" you shake your head. you don't even remember having a sugar cookie on christmas. you always ate gingerbread after gingerbread.

"never, i always eat gingerbread." heeseung gave you a side eye. "gingerbread? for christmas?" you nodded. "gingerbread is a symbol of christmas." heeseung just nodded slowly.

"so are sugar cookies. haven't you seen the ones decorated like a christmas tree or a snowflake?"

you have seen those but a sugar cookie is a sugar cookie. gingerbread reminds you of christmas, a sugar cookie reminds you of easter.

"sugar cookies are for easter." heeseung scoffed and looked at you with wide eyes. "take that back!" you shook your head. "no! gingerbread gives the christmas feeling while sugar cookies gives an easter feeling."

"plus, its tradition i make gingerbread for christmas." heeseung sighed. "well it's tradition i eat sugar cookies." he gave a small smile and hoped you'd give in but you were too stubborn.

"i'm still making gingerbread." you said with a serious tone. "i cant just break tradition because you eat sugar cookies for christmas." you looked at heeseung. he was nibbling his lips softly indicating he was thinking of something.

"why don't we help each other bake? like i take part in your tradition and you take part in mine. that way we can see which one you like better."

he had you in the first part but the last line threw you off. "i'm obviously gonna like baking a gingerbread more than sugar cookies." heeseung chuckled. "we never know."

he stood up and put his hand towards you. "shall we go see?" you took his hand and followed him to the kitchen. you already had the ingredients for both so you followed a recipe.

first was to bake the cookies. heeseung did most of the work since you didn't know how to make sugar cookies. he grabbed some cookie cutters and cut them into snowflakes and little gingerbread men.

you giggled at how cute they came out. but next was the gingerbread.

heeseung watched you make the batter. you did it with such joy. he could tell you loved this tradition a lot. you had a smile on your face the whole time while making the bread.

once it finished baking you took it out of the oven and let it cool a bit.

"that was fun." you said. you had never baked with heeseung before. "it was, you looked like a professional baker." heeseung wrapped his arms around your waist and placed a small peck on your neck.

"but we still have to taste to see which came out better." you groaned. "my gingerbread came out better." heeseung smirked. "we'll see about that."

you got a piece of the gingerbread and heeseung grabbed two cookies. you both tasted each others desserts. heeseungs cookies tasted really good. you were surprised he could even bake.

"your gingerbread is really good." you smiled. "you see! your cookies are good too." heeseung laughed and pecked your cheek.

"i guess i could get used to eating gingerbread for christmas, as long as it's with you."

naur but for real. i feel like if you encouraged sterling to find his self worth outside of his grades, he'd scoff and brush it off, may even get a bit bitchy over the suggestion because it implies that he isn't as in control of the life that hes spent so long curating into being 'perfect'. however he'd make some small changes after you bring it up; spending slightly less time studying to read things he likes, composing and playing music for fun rather than for practice, just little things so his life is a bit more bearable. he's very used to his hectic competitive schedule and will not slack off enough to let his grades be less than perfect, but if he can juggle an obsession with you with his normal life and still maintain top ranks then he can squeak in a hobby or two to get you off his back lmfao.

asking sterling to completely divorce his self worth from the thing hes dedicated his life to is asking him to give up part of his identity and he's just not going to do that. but he could definitely learn to live a little once he learns a healthier balance 😌
