#'I FUCKING LOVE OVERLY KIND PROTAGONISTS'
Note
there's such a difference my own internal reaction to thinking 'ik's just some kid' and 'zhaoxi's just some guy' that i kinda gotta type it out sgdhsj
like. with ik it means so much. she's just some kid, she's perfectly ordinary, but she's been through so much that she doesn't deserve. she's just some kid but somehow she changes these demons' lives in such a short time because she is ik and ik is kind. most of all she DESERVES to just be SOME KID who can live care freely and just have fun
but then with zhaoxi it's just that. he is just some guy and thats all there is to it dhgdhd
also i do love zhaoxi of the dad in the devildom ah but i would like to hit jtta zhaoxi with a broom for neglecting his daughter, like king i know you kinda had not a lot of choice if you wanted to earn enough money to live but COME ON
and they are both just humans in the end, but they are also so so special (to me at least)
but i think you put it really well, anon! ik is just some kid who really does deserve to actually BE just a kid, whereas zhaoxi’s kind of like a more boring tom from tom and jerry

Hot take but Percy Jackson actually isn't anything like Harry Potter and the reason they're popularly compared is due to the mass mischaracterization and misenterpretation that leads to sanatization of Percy to turn him into a more standard protagonist despite the whole point his character being that he's NOT normal while Harry's is that he IS and that made him into a very bland and lowkey passive aggressive bigot that's an awful example for kids while Percy is the perfect role model.Like let's look them over.Percy:
Was born poor and never becomes rich
Is a child abuse victim with consistent trauma responses and unhealthy coping mechanisms all the way starting at The Lightning Thief
Beat up bullies as a kid,was targeted by them to begin with because he's neurodivergent and his teachers picked on him too
Has nothing but love and respect for his fellow minorities, women especially thanks to being a mama's boy with no positive older male figures in his life except Beckendorf
Is pessimistic, sardonic, anger issued, bad at socializing and gets embarrased to be overly open with his emotions but none of this turns him into a bad person but instead makes him realistic and relatable
And he's also kind, gentle, nurturing to the point of basically adopting younger demigods as his found siblings and pseudo-kids if they don't have positive adult figures in their lives already, encouraging, loyal to a literal fatal fault and has a distinctive and iconic sense of humor that never dosen't land
Didn't like Annabeth or Rachel for shallow reasons and instead for their personalities and only wasn't into Reyna because he was taken at the time and treats all three of them very nicely
Is an instigator who's driving point as our hero is taking down corrupted figures but also does activism for the lesser treated people in his world by helping out every time he gets a chance to,has one of his core trait's being that he's COMPLETELY devoid in power hunger and pretty arguably counts as an anarchist because of this
Relating to the sense of humor thing again, his whole PERSONALITY is distinctive-He's not just some fantasy protagonist,he's PERCY JACKSON.The name alone gives everybody who's read the books flashbacks to all his crazy ass shit(affectionate)and that's how you know you've got a well-written protagonist
And Percy is legitimately transfem-coded,because i've met so many trans women in the Pjo fandom and every single one of them without exception have said that she's a femme trans woman egg. This also applies to black/afrolatino folks and autistics in the fandom like me to a less near universal extent
While Harry:
Grew up middle class and then got riches out the ass when the series started
Is a very poor attempt at positive abuse survivor rep because he uses his mental health as an excuse to a huge dick with no consequences given to him afterward
Had no tormenters other than the Dursleys
A 'dosen't know better and refuses to learn' typa bigot with tons of passive aggressive remarks about girls and ableism and fatphobia thrown in too,not to mention racist moments like hating Dean for dating Ginny
Is the quintessential young male fantasy protagonist and this is exactly his problem because it makes him boring asf and we're dealing with so much fucking damage in the kids fantasy genre thanks to his musty ass
All his crushes were shallow(Only liked Cho for a pretty girljock and only noticed Ginny when she became one too and prioritizes looks and society's idea of 'coolness' on the other girls his age too like damn i wonder why he only ever saw Hermione as a sister, surely it can't be connected /s)
Never does actual justice fighting unless he's required to and don't tell me he shouldn't have needed to because this wasn't real life,it was a magics series so he should've fought evil on purpose like Percy did and so did Katniss Everdeen and the Pevensie Siblings and all the other actual good kids books protags. This genre is supposed to be a power fantasy for kids that they can be heroes too and Harry failed big time at his job just like he did at everything else
Again,he is VERY mediocre as a character but mediocrity sells and now we have a million clones of him instead of real mcs
Is part of exactly zero minorities, neither intentionally or accidentally, and that made him grow up to be a cop.Douchebag ass white straight boy Harry vs Autistic afrolatina transfemme slay Percy. No competition,Percy's punk so she'd kill Harry to earn her blue laces
And before Maraturds and Luke/gods stans get bold, you're literally him irl but worse besties♡

Something I love about maka is that like… out of the main cast she’s not the strongest character nor is she holding on to some super OP power like black star (has a similar ability to stein as well as literally gaining god like strength) or dtk (A Literal Fucking God). She’s not overly ambitious or super confident and she clearly worked hard for the talent she has. Her whole thing is love for her friends. Her special power is being able to connect everyone’s wave lengths and unite them. She takes an impossible situation (fighting with crona) and turns it around by reaching out and being kind. She never stops reaching out to crona. She knows soul has black blood and just kind of goes “ok so how do I use this.” She accepts her friends unconditionally even when they’re pissing her off. She’s never looked down upon for being Less Powerful and she also doesn’t become the most powerful character at the end of the manga. I think that out of the main cast she’s the most human and the most relatable and it makes her the best choice to be the primary protagonist. I love her.

Charlie the Unicorn is Paul Matthews coded: An overly long analysis
So, I've rewatched the entire series of Charlie the Unicorn multiple times, and with it has come a whole lotta brainrot. Not only is it just a great series in general and I love the absurdism of it all, but there's also something else I love about that I just... could not put my finger on. Well, that's until I listened to the song "Everyone is Smiling", and the reprise Charlie later sings. Charlie the Unicorn (both the series and the character) is incredibly Paul Matthews coded and I feel things about it.
(the rest is under the cut because I kinda made this waaayyyyy too long than I meant to)
First, let's talk about Charlie the Unicorn. Charlie, as a character, has no control over his life. He has to follow along with whatever his tormentors, two other unicorns by the name of Pink and Blue, decide would be fun, and it seems like he exists only to follow along with what they want. If they want to steal his kidneys or drag him to the moon, there is nothing he can do about it.
Well, nothing except complain.
See, there is one thing he CAN control, and that is his emotions, and how he feels about all the fucked up shit he has to deal with. The antagonists of the show constantly are shown to be annoyed by Charlie's negative outlook, and they make desperate attempts to strip him of the tiny shred of autonomy he has. The most obvious of these attempts, of course, being the somg song "Everyone is Smiling", where a dolphin wonders how Charlie could still frown and be so depressed when everyone around him is having a fantastic time, and tries to get him to join in and ignore the horrible shit that's going around him. The final lyric of the song before the dolphin leaves is literally "Just stop feeling dread, so there can be good times ahead." Then, there's the reveal that both Pink and Blue, the people that have been torturing our protagonist since the series began, are just corpses puppeted around by literal demons, where you can really start to see the similarities.
Then, there's other half of this comparison, that being Paul Matthews himself. In TGWDLM, there are many signs pointing to the fact that Paul's fate was sealed the moment the show began.
For example, there's the opening of the show, which has the entire cast of actors all onstage already singing and dancing, including Emma who only gets infected by the very end, or the entire existence of the finale and how it's literally just Paul singing about he was doomed from the start and the fact that the song is LITERALLY TITLED INEVITABLE, or the little detail you see even before you watch the show: the title of the musical. What is it called again? Oh, right, The Guy Who DIDN'T Like Musicals, "didn't" being in past tense. He has no control over what will happen to him, his fate is set from the moment the show began.
However, there is one thing he does have control over, that being how he feels and reacts to the apocalypse, his strong dislike of musicals, and his strong lack of a "want". The infected zombies see all of this for what it is; the one thing standing between them and complete control and power over him. Paul's lack of strong desires especially means that they don't have something obvious to exploit, and they can't trick him into accepting apotheosis by making him sing an I Want song.
That leads us to "Let It Out", where the infected zombies all wonder how Paul could possibly not accept apotheosis yet, how he can still refuse to listen to call of the singular voice when he'd finally feel happy (wouldn't that be nice?) and get what he wanted. In this moment, he is surrounded by corpses of his friends puppeted around by an eldritch god, trying to strip him of the small shred of autonomy he has.
This is where their stories start to kind of diverge.
See, Charlie succeeds in defeating his tormentors, shaking off their control over him and his world for good. He does this by singing a reprise "Everyone is Smiling", a direct response to the passive aggressive tune claiming that it's his fault for being miserable, that everything would be easier if he decided to smile instead. In this reprise, he asks why he has to smile, even as the world ends and it withers and dies. He accepts a world that is dead and through his negativity he manages to banish the demons that have been ruining his world. Paul, meanwhile, succumbs to the Apotheosis with a smile. His tormentors succeeds in stripping him of his autonomy, in removing his dislike of musicals and forcing him to accept apotheosis and the withered and dead world that comes with it. This is made increasingly easier by the fact that Paul has a want now, he wants to make a world where he and Emma can be happy together. Where Paul fails to save his world, Charlie succeeds.
In a way, the stories of Charlie the Unicorn and TGWDLM are kind of different versions of the same core premise. One where the protagonist manages to not only cling to their teensy shred of autonomy but also use it to defeat the demons that have been sucking the life out of their world, and one where their small amount of control is not just ripped away, but they're convinced to throw it away themselves.

kimi ni todoke things i want to talk about in excruciating detail someday
- 'reaching you' is not just about sawako and kazehaya it's about every relationship in the manga the whole story is about communication and reaching one another and
- the importance of names
- top 10 gay moments
- kurumi and sawako rivalry having the most satisfying conclusion
- kazehaya setting the blueprint for male leads
- knt's total spin on all kind of tropes (popular x unpopular, childhood friends, teacher x student)
- kazehaya being a male lead that doesn't rely on trauma to be sympathetic and that doesn't steal the spotlight from the protagonist
- ayane's character especially her ending/resolution
- ayane's comphet
- ryu being a great example of how to write an aloof character with trauma while not overly relying on it
- how ayane's crush on pin was handled
- sawako is much deeper than the average anime viewer thinks (yes she is able and does get mad)
- how to blow up people that miss the entire point of the show and just dismiss it as "full of miscommunication" with my mind
- s2 was great + you missed the point +L+fuck you
- it should not be considered a slowburn
- kurumi had the only redemption that matters . like by FAR
- how well written the intimacy between the two couple is
- keeping one of the biggest mysteries (pin's life outside teaching) a mystery was actually pretty cool
- why i think romance writers should start paying taxes to karuho shiina instead of the government
- how hard it is to pick up another heterosexual romance manga again after reading this one
- the accidental gay coding of not one But TWO characters
- kurumi's love for sawako
- its (very few) flaws
- sales
- the movie. like all of it. casting, ost, scenery.
- whether kazehaya or sawako fell first

I’m going a hiatus but I wanted to ask for something before I doooooo!!! May I ask for some Epic Sans x reader headcanons?
Where the reader and Epic are friends but they unknowingly crush on each other and when Epic finally tries flirting, he learns the reader gets extremely flustered very easily. (Ah yes kabedons….instant melting-)
Thank you in advance! Also it’s been awhile, how have you been?
I NEVER SAW THIS WHAN YOU SENT IT IN IMSO SORRY 😭😭😨
genuinely still dont know much abt epic but hes kinda silly so lets see how this goes!! apologies if he's ooc im too lazy to look up anything about him
also ive been good thank you for asking ^^ livin life in beast mode since i got a cross bodypillow,,
motherfucker is WHIPPED goddamn 👴 always has some degree of a blush on his face when you're around,,,, or when he's talking about you,,, or thinking about you,,,,
you think his lil flushed cheeks are soo cute
because they ARE?? if only u knew they were flushed cuz of you <33
he likes to rant to anyone who'll listen abt how adorable you are. how in love with you he is. how he just wants to kiss your cute little face all over, leave you flushed and dizzy—
cross is FED UP with listening to his simping 😒😡
he's always so giddy around you. boundless energy, like you're some drug that gets his metaphorical heart pumping. really, you ARE like a drug to him. he's ADDICTED to you, the way you make him feel,,
ofc he'd never tell you that... that's too embarrassing!
until he decides to somehow make a stupid pick-up line.
"hey bruh, are you a drug? cuz i feel like im dying when im without you for an extended period of time."
WHY are you blushing at that horrible, stupid line?? he could have made it SO MUCH better, but this is SO him—silly and slightly nonsensical—and while it was kind of dumb, he's using a pick up line on you oh my god
nerd ass weeb anime mf will call you his waifu or husbando or whatever. it always makes you blush when he introduces you as "my awesome (waifu/husbando) whom i love" but you always just. brush it off as a joke. cuz i mean he can't ACTUALLY like you right? haha he's just overly friendly pshh ofc ourse he diesnt actually like you that's crazy—
sorry writing that actually made me cringe i cant believe he would say that 😭 life is so hard when that's my husband's best friend #savemefromepic
for the longest time he doesn't even realise that he's flustering you, but OH BOY, when he DOES become aware,,,, lord help your poor poor SOUL, you won't have a moment of rest
i mean, c'mon, he thinks you look so cute when you're all flustered because of him,,,, so adorable how your eyes widen fractionally, the way your lips press together, how you try to hide your heated face from anyone's view,,, so cute <33
dude double's down in his flirting. no matter how wild what he says is, you always get that cute look on your face that makes him want to kiss you so fucking bad bro
then, one day, after the two of you watched some stupid cliché romance anime where the female protagonist was pinned to the wall by her love interest...
it's like a lightbulb went off in his empty head. that's peak anime romance, so why doesn't he do that to you? he bets you'd get so embarrassed and cute if he did that~
except it kind of backfires. he slams his hands against the wall, effectively caging you between them, but he's a little shorter than you and the force he used rocked him right into your body and it's more like he just body-checked you than anything. it took all of his strength to make sure he didn't accidentally nail you in the nose with his big fat head. still, the close proximity got you all flushed.
he really can't help himself when he leans up and finally, finally kisses you. call it the heat of the moment, but it was the perfect opportunity. pressed up against the wall, so close to each other,,, when you just look so cute, your soft body against his bones feeling just right, like two perfect puzzle pieces coming together...
he could feel when your breath hitched, the way you tensed for but a moment before fervently kissing him back. your face is positively burning, but it makes the kiss all the better, feeling divine against his cooled cheeks, flushed with his own blush.
he pulls back and then...!! leaves. he disappears, falling into his bed and kicking his feet. he's totally squealing, fanboying harder than he ever has before.
you're allowed to kick his ass for just leaving you like that
but he'll text you later that night asking if you wanna be his "official (waifu/husbando)" because he's cringe and can't just ask if you wanna date the normal way.. </3
i keep cringing at him. have fun with your weeb man. i'm judging you for your tastes (/j)

Okay hiii I went through your WIP list and :333
Brain emty rn BUT I would love to hear anything you may wanna talk ab for The Graves we dug :3
HIIIII THANK U FOR ASKING!!!
so another major character i actually don’t talk about that often is tomb! i would consider him to be the kind of like tritagonist (with graves being the protagonist and dove being the deuteragonist) of the story because he’s the major one that’s pushing the more dangerous aspects of the plot and prompting dove to seek out graves again to finish what they all started.
for some backstory/plot: graves, dove, and tomb (as well as other characters like dawn and coffin, etc) all worked for a particular bounty hunting organization where they all basically did murder for hire as you do. tomb and graves have been in the organization the longest, since they were both teenagers actually (all the characters being mid-late thirties at the start of the book) and while they didn’t work together together, they did consider each other friendly. not friends, but there was no friendly fire should they cross paths between jobs basically.
things somewhat changed when their organization began to implement partnership and squadron systems as it continued to grow and expand. graves and tomb ended up on missions together more often than not but they also each ended up with a protégée under their watch—dawn for tomb and dove for graves. we obviously know that graves and dove got overly invested very quickly however with tomb, he strives to hold no attachments and hasn’t. if he looked after you there was a reason. if he killed you, then you were dispensable. he’s much better at compartmentalization versus graves—i won’t describe graves as a softie by any means but he can’t always take the emotions out of what he’s doing. tomb warned him long ago, when he noticed how close graves and dove were getting that this attachment would fuck him over and graves agreed. he couldn’t help it though.
then came the rome.
the rome is a large old style (as reminder tgwd is a cyber western so a lot of shit is high tech) building that many important business dealings both benign and shady take place at. the four of them: graves, dove, dawn and tomb were contracted to take out a very important hit. as we know from graves’s narration, that job went south and resulted in both protégées, and a several other people being “killed” in the crossfire.
tomb compartmentalized. graves crumbled, and drew away from the organization. the organization however, didn’t need a loose potentially dangerous canon running amuck, and so they contracted their best killer aside graves (tomb) to take him out.
tomb hasn’t necessarily been taking his time, but he isn’t pressed to bring graves in. he doesn’t hold attachments; or he tries to tell himself that. but obviously the reality is he does care for graves but knows betraying the organization like he has is suicide. graves also hasn’t been making it easy for him and this leads to another part of the discussion of tgwd: powers.
technically all of the bounty hunters have abilities; i need to flesh out what they are a bit more but along with powers they have certain colors associated with them. dove’s color is green and his eyes glow green when he uses his power. graves’s color is black and his feet gain a fiery black trail around them when he uses his abilities. tomb’s color is orange and it’s centered to his mouth. his teeth and tongue glow orange and he usually wears a bandana around his mouth to cover the glow because unlike graves and dove he can’t turn his ability off…. whatever it is.
i know that dove’s ability is centered around suggestion. he can make people do what he wants (though he doesn’t need his powers to control graves LMAO) and graves has something akin to a silent step and the ability to warp through walls or something like that lol.
but anyway! as we all know dove didn’t actually die in the rome incident, but knows that tomb is hunting graves down and so he goes to graves to let him know and to have them finish the job that went awry because essentially if they finish that job they can be free “for good.” because (new thoughts incoming as i type this): graves and dove were going to retire after this job to be together and the company cut them a deal. if they finish the job then technically graves’s deal can be honored and tomb will have no reason to kill him. (theoretically. it’s complicated! but that’s what writing shit is for).

I rewatched Snow White a few times over the past several months as research for my fics. Something I notice more and more I watch that movie is that Vil is like if Snow White was a well written protagonist.
Vil shares a lot of the same qualities as her. They both value hard work. They are both stern and able to stand their ground. They're both kind and considerate (most of the time for Snow White), wanting to help out others become better versions of themselves. Where they differ is their intelligence and negative qualities.
Snow White has almost zero major flaws. Everyone minus her stepmother either automatically adores her or are won over by the end. Snow White's negative qualities are her nativity and overly trusting nature, which only get her in trouble at the very end and that might be only for plot reasons. She reminds me of YA heroines from the 2000s/ early 2010s like Bella Swan, whose flaws often consisted of something cutesy like clumsiness and are devoid of any true flaws. In the creators of Snow White's defence, this is probably thanks to this being one of the first animated movies ever, so they probably didn't know how to write compelling characters let alone female ones at the time. However, that's still not an excuse. (This criticism also applies to Cinderella and Aurora as well.)
Vil's, on the other hand, make him more human and compelling. One of his biggest character flaws is his domineering and overly critical attitude. Despite having the best intentions and wanting to help others become their best selves, he is often so blunt that he comes off as an asshole, which gets him into trouble plenty of times. He also takes things way too far and is often times inconsiderate of others' feelings like with how he treats Epel. (I think that could've been hammered home even more in his arc where the team talks smack behind him behind his back and called him out a ton more when he did fucked up shit like paralysing people with his UM. But that's another story.) He's also impulsive, judgmental, in his own head, stubborn and even has a quick fuse at times. These negative traits make some characters in the game and sometimes people in the audience not very fond of him, but that's okay. Not everyone is gonna love us, and sometimes that's thanks to our flaws or things out of our control. The same applies to well written fictional characters.
Snow White is a bit of an idiot. She lets in the Evil Queen and eats the poisoned apple without second guessing anything, ignoring the dwarves warning her not to open the door for anyone she doesn't know. While I know she was barely a teenager in her movie, come on! She should've suspected something was off considering peddlers usually frequent CITIES so people can buy their products, not the forest. That's like if a serial killer, who was pretending to be a door-to-door salesman, came to some farm in the middle of nowhere and claimed they were selling shit. I think most people would think something was off. Why even do that, especially when someone is out to kill her? Being wary of her should've been her first instinct. She also randomly cleans the dwarves cottage, because she figures children live there. Like...what? Whose first instinct when coming to someone else's home is to break in and start cleaning it? I know she wanted to do it to potentially have somewhere to stay, but that still doesn't excuse her breaking into someone's house like that. (Personally, if I wrote that part, I would have them already there and question her presence. Then, she can explain her situation, and then she offers to clean their house, which they allow. That way she's not breaking and entering someone's home.)
Vil is a lot smarter. He's a potion master and well read. (Which makes the ending of Chapter/Book 6 super fucking annoying and out of character for him. But I hate that arc, so I want to pretend like it never happened.) Like anyone, he has his limits and isn't all knowing. Him avoiding a lot of those more obvious pitfalls makes him much more fun to watch and write than her.
I hope Snow White is more like Vil in the upcoming live action movie. Not that I want her to be a carbon copy of him, far from it, but that she is written as more human while still retaining those core qualities from the original. Her good qualities are fine as is and are a part of her charm. While I find a lot of the live action Disney movies to be meh to downright terrible (*cough* Mulan and The Lion King *cough*), sometimes they update stories for modern audiences in a compelling way while containing the heart of the original like in Cinderella or The Jungle Book, which is something Snow White is in desperate need of.

a decade later sure i'll put it into Text Post "tumblr user claims: plausibly may feasibly" form, starting with these classic screenshots i still have saved
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
this being dialogue from 2015's always watching: a marble hornets story, which is like hey this is a pretty well produced indie venture & you can sure like sit through it even if you then never watch it again b/c it's still kind of overly on the beaten path & "i'm not sure this choice is justified in much of anything" (see: bizarrely omnipresent thread of a love triangle just to be There; typical Mental Patient(tm) Harbinger; several real marked More Is Less instances arguably) that is still a better time than other random horror material i've seen & hated vs. only mostly been underwhelmed by but in an Overall Shrug way alone. yeah imdb's 4.7 out of 10 seems fair enough if you consider like 5 stars truly middle of the road solid if forgettable vs that anything < 7 stars is for [Bad!] or whatever
anyways the main character is named milo & indeed the creator(s) / actors / writers troy joseph & tim were involved in the production at all: tim at least by being the first step in doug jones's casting by reaching out directly (online), but troy & joseph also via Some writing, like in that slender game sequel also: not the Primary creators / writers, but still officially involved in the creative process at all. & i knew of them & they knew of me by this time & in a [source: dude just trust me] style of way, i, a tumblr user, am like "i think milo alwayswatching Could be named after me, milo unproduciblesmackdown. lol." b/c also like yeah i can take it on the chin if it's a coincidence, which is also likely. great name & it's just not being used enough in fictional & nonfictional people's names. you might also be aware that some role in tribetweIve is named milo (maybe the main guy. i never watched it) so you might also speculate it's named after that guy, which seems plausible also, But: afaik there are no other similar plausible shoutouts at all, to that series or to emh which was just as majorly like One Of Those 3 Biggest Online Series. may or may not add a grain of salt to take it with. like my own "of course, there's a grain of salt in 'milo just like me milo, and Uncoincidentally?' b/c how wouldn't there be. a name people have"
the dude just trust me argument: distilling it down to "i went to their first convention & then the same one the next year, & in these experiences i Know they knew of me from that + also online, where people knew my name was milo as well" and "it seems feasible enough it's an easter egg Not Coincidence that i first knew this character's name happened to also be milo b/c someone who experienced a clip sent me an ask about it, so they assumed it was a possible actual connection too lol." and, of course, it might be a fun coincidence after all. but i'm still like "yeah no it Could be a funny little shoutout to me specifically for real" and mean it and, again, i can endure it if i'm completely wrong. b/c who could care, and also b/c it's so funny that the character is a guy who basically just is like "i am going to have a bad attitude. b/c of the insistent tiresome love triangle thing. well now I'm insistently tiresome" and fucking everything up but like, sure. exasperating epic fail protagonists
the only relevance i think it has besides "to me, b/c i can go haha yeah. that might be like: just like me!!" is that it's Also plausible b/c yeah marble hornets Is the kind of series that might go "this could be an easter egg about some queer autistic tumblr user we know about" lmao, its Inherent Queerness both re: the material and in the creators' knowledge like yep that's how our Appreciators skew! like it's low stakes to be like [lol, Me. perhaps] b/c it's obviously of zero importance like it adds no info, i'm just some rando queer fan from back in the day, but it's this potential Fun Fact that's funny to know & it's about "yeah like they knew i was trans back then too & that it was like, amidst the MH Fans, like nobody's cishet man (shaggy rogers voice)" Gay Rights!
#marble hornets#It's Possible And Someone Should Say It#and like fr i'm saying it with a swagful humility b/c yeah ofc it feels like an overreach to be like ME Milo???? but it could be fr#and ofc it's just a funny little detail If So so it's also really not that much of a reach b/c nobody else could care one way or another#the only possible Reactions beyond ''main character named milo? this has zero extra meaning for me''#is Me; Specifically going [gasp!] (which i did anyways b/c Pointing! & b/c yeah thee whole time it's like It Could Be Just Like Me Fr)#and tribetwelveheads going ''like as in tribetweIve?'' which like still maybe but gotta keep it real with you chief: Less Likely#it's funny if i'm right And it's funny if i'm wrong so like yeah ofc i'll Just Say It. i can endure in good humour if Knowing no it's not#and like i could just ask. but in my prior chitchatting with [Yeah We Know Of Each Other] quadruple A status#(amicable and/or allied acquaintance) like it just hasn't ever been much or really At All abt marble hornets or anything else ''official''#yeah i Could barge into tim's dms like HEY do you MAYBE KNOW this trivia?? about MEEE??? but like. i'm not gonna lmao#i'm gonna be like: post more new kittycat pics worstie!!!! if anything.#or be like ''you're So right. recommend skinamarink to all past present future marble hornets fans'' hell yeah king#(as someone who Hypothetically enjoys horror; thus in actual practice virtually always hates horror. That Fr! sm good fckg food)#anyways like it can't possibly matter. sure just as plausibly a ''haha no it Is coincidental'' situation like & so i can endure that though#it's most plausible thanks to the [i did manage to make it to their first convention! a lot of fun. & i bought their mask]#like this fact was 99% irrelevant to Anyone Else; e.g. anyone online then or now#but it did boost making me a specific person the main creative / production trio guys Knew Of lol. being a queer autistic fan can do that#i also never use these screenshots lol but i did save them & still like just now stumble across them like oh yeah that guy! that Mystery!#we can keep it up for that mystique & ambiguity. & b/c again i have no cause to barge in at an A.A.A.A. like Answer My Trivia Boy!!#this would Also be funny but for the sake of any actual 4A rapport i will not be attempting it for Detached Jests#(conveniently this prevents me from bravely enduring taking it on the chin anyways! hence casually posting a Fun Fact. we'll never know)#also remembering i don't even have my name being milo on my blog header. Actually you know what I will explain how Hallmark Christmas movies are amatonormative.
Starting with the biggest tell which is the plots. There are usually two kinds of plots hallmark goes for with the christmas films.
Plot 1: Woman is searching for a magical romance and finds it through Christmas
Plot 2: Woman is business focused and not interested in love and needs to be taught to love through the power of christmas and a man.
In terms of Plot 2, I feel like it's the most openly amatonormative (+ gotta love the extra addition of sexism in there) where it literally places that the woman not being interested in romance or finding a boyfriend to be a problem. Characters in the movie such as the protagonists best friend (usually another woman) and parents (Usually mother) insist that the protag NEEDS to find love and that her life will be miserable if she doesn't "have fun" and "Fall in love"
This is common for Aspecs, specifically aromantics, to hear. Any expression of disinterest in romance is often shot back at with "you haven't found the right person yet" "that's such a sad way to live" "You'll find the one at some point!" And this is only because of the importance that society puts onto romance and finding a partner. It becomes unbelievable to some that anyone could ever be happy without love in their life. This is textbook amatonormativity.
This idea also plays into Plot 1, which while more subtle, still pushes these ideas of everyone should want/look for love.
A common trope in Plot 1 that shows these ideals is the bad 1st boyfriend that the protagonist usually has before meeting the actual love interest for the movie. Usually the boyfriend is business oriented, doesn't do romantic things with the protagonist (usually stated as him being too busy and thus not caring or him actually not caring about romance), and usually will laugh/mock the idea of romance in general. This is seen as bad by the movies. This often reads similar to how aromantic people are treated for not caring about romance. They are positioned as bad partners for not following textbook ideas of romance. For focusing on other things over romance. They are seen as sad and miserable and "How could anyone live such a sad life?"
There's also this overlying theme in Plot 1 that the protags search for a fairy tale romance is inherently good and anyone disagreeing is inherently wrong and hates romance. Usually romance being the main priority is seen as right over other obligations. If the protag for example has to choose between the romantic plotline or some other obligation she's made, then choosing the second obligation is ALWAYS framed as the wrong answer. Usually the character will shame the protagonist for not choosing to go meet the male love interest or the love interest himself will be upset with the protagonist, placing more importance on the romantic plotline no matter how much more important logically the other obligation could be.
That's not even to mention the fact that no one in these movies ends up single. If a character is specifically mentioned to be single then there is a 99% chance that they WILL be paired up by the end of the film. If they are single by the end of the film it's likely that 1. They were not mentioned to be single or taken so their status is ambiguous at best.
2. They are constantly looking for love along with the protag, usually hinted to be falling in love/wll get with someone in the future by the end of the film
3. they are a child. Hallmark doesn't do anything romantic between children outside of maybe the off handed mention of a crush.
And yes, I know it can be a bit of an issue to complain about ROMANCE movies supporting amatonormativity, especially when these films have many other things wrong with them other than that. But also see: I had to watch these every fucking year with my mother and so as an angry aroace i think i can tear into them as a treat :)
I've probably missed some things and tbh this post is likely all over the place, I tried my best with my ADHD. If you also had to put up with these films feel free to leave your own analysis on them or make any additions/corrections. It's been at least a year since I've seen these films and I'm sure I've left things out + missed the new films which might change some things (Tho i doubt it. Hallmark has a formula that they stick to rigidly with these)
So yeah TL:DR Hallmark christmas movies are definitely full of amatonormativity and It's interesting to look at and tear apart the harmful ideas within the movies. Thanks for coming to my ted talk and whatnot lmao

I'm bad at thinking on the spot, but I have some firm faves, lol. (Disclaimer, I accidentally wrote you an encyclopaedia, sorry!)
1. Jill. REmake was my first game early this year and I played as her. It's what sucked me into fullblown brainrot lmfao. I've played most of the series now and for the most part, Jill has remained one of the most consistent and realistic female characters throughout the series (imo). I mean, I've never looked at my screen an thought "has the director ever seen her character before? What the hell is this?" Which in RE is a rare occurrence lmfao! She isn't super, overly sexualised and I honestly just thoroughly enjoy her personality and story. She knows who she is and what her goals are. Death Island absolutely solidified this for me. It made me feral, I stg. Her arc was phenomenal. I want a brand new Jill campaign. I need her as a main game character again soon. She's one of the best. SHE SHOULD HAVE BEEN THERE WITH CHRIS KILLING WESKER INSTEAD OF SHEVA SOMEBODY HAS TO SAY IT. An original that holds her own. Just... *chefs kiss*.
2. Claire. Similar reasons to Jill. She has clear motivations and a good arc. Her campagin is my favourite part of RE2make and I think it's shamefully underrated. I found her realtionship with Sherry a lot more significant than Leons and honestly, her A playthrough was just... better? That's perisnal opinion though. I wish they'd let this woman buy a new outfit. She's worn the same jacket since '98. Recycling queen I guess, lmfao. I don't think people really give her enough attention or credit. She's incredibly kind and patient but could also beat me to a pulp. Phenomenal.
3. Chris. Okay, a few iffy portrayals but he's overall a very solid character. I like him so much because he's a "terrifying but actually very soft and huggable" trope in my mind, lmao. I can't shake the Awkward Father vibe, no matter how many 400lbs machine guns he plays around with. I just think he's very tired and wants to watch a football game with friends. Give him a break.
4. Ethan Winters. It's fucking Ethan Winters. Ethan and Rose were excellent new additions to the cast. I adored them. They were something different, refreshing, realistic (minus the lego man hands... dude's made of mold tho so...) and just very likeable. Dude just chills in the background at functions wanting to go home.
5. Leon. Leon's equally one of the most interesting but frustrating protagonists. I think his OG progression is a complete mess. There's some parts I love, some parts I think make zero sense. I always got the sense that they wanted to be ambitious with Leon, but didn't know what the audience would and wouldn't accept. Does this man have a personality? Yes, we'll hint at one, but we absolutely must adhere to naughts cringe hero stereotype just incase. He often leaves me perplexed, but I enjoy him. He's fun to nitpick and study (and make fun of!!!) and he arguably has one of the most interesting long-term stories. I think remakes are going harder to bring this to light. At it's core, the Leon story is about his relationship with corruption, the government and how he deals with it and who to trust. It could be... SOMETHING. I think we're getting there. The changes in remakes are making it more and more possible. They're taking risks and it greatly benefits him as a character overall. He makes sense. He's understandable.
(PS a lot of this sounds like nonsensical jumbled ass, I'm so sorry lmao. I did not sleep and I need pain meds today bc hashtag chronic pain. If this message is total dumbassery jibberish you have my deepest apologies!)
Ahhh, hi! I absolutely love a good old encyclopedia ask, don't you worry. (And you're probably gonna get a long ass answer too, lmao).
REmake Jill is my favourite Jill. Her kick ass determination and personality are just so good. She was my first ever example of a strong female character as a kid, and she's always been my absolute fave. Totally agree with you that DI sold her to me even more. She desperately needs a new campaign in a mainline game ASAP, I've missed her too damn much.
I feel like Claire has had most hate in the franchise (in my personal experience, at least), and honestly, I don't get the whole "Claire is so annoying" crap I've seen people say in the past. She has good motivation. A college student going to search for her S.T.A.R.S member brother when she doesn't hear from him, only to survive a hellish night amidst a viral outbreak and cure a child? So badass.
Chris is 100% awkward dad vibes despite his badassery and boulder punching skills, no doubt about it. He's more sensitive than people understand him to be. (Which literally makes no sense, considering how broken he is whenever someone he cares about doesn't make it, lol). Let this man live, put his feet up and relax.
Ethan, my guy. I fucking love him so much. I remember how so many people hated him, back when RE7 first came out. "Oh, but he's just some random guy who is looking for his missing wife. How boring." Uh, isn't that what makes him so much more interesting? He's not an agent, or a S.T.A.R.S member, or whatever like the others are. He's a man willing to go above and beyond to save someone he loves. He gets put through so much shit and still selflessly sacrifices himself. What a guy.
Leon is a hot mess (affectionately). Capcom wanted to do things with OG Leon, and they just didn't know how to go about it. He's definitely a fun one to pick apart and analyse. You're right, though. I definitely think they could really polish what kind of character they want him to be with future installments since they've already gotten him to a pretty decent place already. I've always loved him, but he sure has been a roller coaster ride, hahaha.
Honestly, I always love getting long asks like this, especially from mutuals I wanna talk more to. It's just a shame I'm such a socially awkward coward and can't initiate conversation myself. 😂 I had a lot of fun answering this, so thank you, and I really hope you can rest up soon!

like the antagonists of hellmouth are really just... people? just kind of shitty people but with the ways in which they are shitty heightened by the magic elements of the setting As Magic Elements Tend To Do. they're just like, a shitty distant reputation-focused mom, a shitty self-destructive drag-you-with-him boyfriend, and a shitty resentful overly pressured brother.
but they do all have genuine love for the protagonists they act as antagonists to under the surface so it's. complicated. i'm obsessed with writing their psyches as fucked as possible. they do have the potential to be better but for some reason they've all kept digging their holes for the past however long.
i think at their cores, what everyone in hellmouth really wants is to be worthy of love. including the antagonists. and though everyone has a somewhat twisted view of what that means, it's worst with the antagonists.

Lets change things up a bit and talk about what makes this show good and what makes it bad.
What makes it good is it's characters. They are unique and interesting. First episode it seems like your clichè "Nerds are weird and different" show, but it isn't. They say that they are the way they are because of their IQ or low EQ, but when you actually watch further than the first episode, you see that there are very logical reasons for them being the way they are.
Walter isn't the way he is because of his IQ, it's because he's autistic and had an abusive family. At first glance, he seems like your regular "Sherlock Holmes/Sheldon Cooper" kind of character that is uncaring and learns to care, but then you actually watch the show and see that he does care. When he breaks up with his gf in the pilot, he tries to be considerate in his own way, but he fails. Then when he goes back to the garage and meets with his team you see that he cares about them and listens to them and tolerates their flaws and mistakes. Then later you find out that he was Happy's first friend and first employer that didn't fire her, the first person to care about her as a person and not a girl. You find out he saved Toby from his gambling. You find out that he found Sly as a kid and practically raised him. He cares. No. He loves, and loves deeply. Everyone around him leans on him, but doesn't feel like a Mary sue, but feels like a real person.
Sly isn't the way he is because of his IQ, it's because of his abusive military father. The way he goes from someone who fears death more than anything to someone who accepts death because of Megan is interesting, and his selfishness (I covered it in another post) makes his potential very interesting.
Happy isn't the way she is because of her IQ, it's because her father left her at 3 years old and she grew up moving from orphanage to orphanage. She is a 3-dimensional, strong female character who isn't used for a male character's development, and isn't trying to be boyish or overly feminist. She's just a strong, likeable female character. How she goes from always putting up her guard to letting Toby in, to marrying him and wanting a child is entertaining to watch.
Toby isn't the way he is because of his IQ, it's because his father was a gambler too, he was raised in that enviroment and because of that and his failure at helping his bipolar mother, he became a gambler too. His past made him a ruined man and he covers that with his joking attitude. He gives good advice, but sucks at following it (Like most real people do). His narcissism is realistically portrayed by his questionable actions in the show. And how despite being a narcissist, he puts Happy above him is also interesting to watch.
Ralph isn't the way he is because of his IQ, it's because his dad left him at 2 years old, and he grew up poor with his mother.
What makes it bad is the plot. Especially Walter's plot. Copying the plot of Sherlock or Sheldon (Uncaring characters learns to care through events) and pasting it onto an already loving character like Walter sucks hard. It doesn't fit at all and the later seasons become a chore to watch because of it. It turns into mental abuse for Walter and if that's what the writers were planning, if they were planning to make Walter's safe place into his abusive relationship and have him learn to stand up for himself, them fuck you CBS because i would've paid to watch that. Then the actual missions. I'd be willing to bet that the show makes spent a minute researching for each seasons, making 4 minutes in total. And don't even get me started on Paige fucking Dineen. She is THE most annoying and uninteresting character in the show, which his bad for the protagonist's love interest. She is moody, reactive, and completely unqualified to play shrink. She teaches empathy but she isn't empathatic. She never takes responsibility for her actions, and acts as if she is better than the team (And they Walter has a big ego). And on top of all that, she stomps all over Walter's heart in S3 and then jumps into his arms without apologizing. She says she loves Walter, but i have watched all the 4 seasons and i have yet to see a single gesture of hers that screams love. All we see from her is narcissism, pettiness, jealousy and downright cruelty. What are her fans even fans of? There's nothing to her character.
Overall, it has it's good and bad, but with proper development it would become something amazing. And i think it was on it's way towards that if it wasn't so cruelly canceled. It's one of these shows that deserved to live long.

1998
This should be an interesting one. Since 1999 was the first year without the orchestra and the language rule, 1998 is going to look and sound VERY different from the contests I'm used to.
Croatia Classic costume change and classic Balkan ballad. Danijela has very good control over her voice, but the staging (specifically her hand movements, but also that one long shot) was sort of awkward. She looked and felt out of place on that stage, especially in the black outfit. Melody also seemed... not simple, but overly familiar? To me it felt like it was composed out of bits of other songs that I know and can't remember and that put me off a little bit. But not in a formulaic way. I dunno.
Greece Forgettable but not unenjoyable rock song. I don't like her voice nearly as much though.
France Loving the chill vibes here and Marie is fun to watch. I really liked the verses in this. Good stage presentation - although, I don't know if she was sick or just has a naturally raspy voice but something seemed slightly off about her singing.
Spain This man is like... if a classic rom-com protagonist with a boombox was sopping wet pathetic and also John Green. Not a bad song. I like the sentiment I suppose. There's this extremely 1990s thing going on with the synths that I'm not crazy about.
Switzerland Twee ending is twee but otherwise I really like this song. I fuck with the violin and Gunvor sounds good and she looks good in that dress (in the long shots. In the closer shots I keep getting distracted because it looks like she just wore a bra onstage). However. Those backup dancers needed to chill. Specifically there's this shoulder shrug thing they do right at the beginning that just does not fit the vibes and it BOTHERED me.
Slovakia Good to know that the terrible VFX overlays have been around for 25+ years. Thanks Slovakia, hated that. It's a beautiful language and the song was pretty enough, if not all that engaging, so it's a shame that parts of it were too low for Kristina. She had to whisper the first two notes of this one repeating phrase which sounded just a little creepy.
Poland This had a really strong opening and honestly I do like this song a lot but the lead singer just isn't bringing it vocally. She's not bad. I just don't think that head voice as a register really works here. It makes the song seem low-energy and her tone quality seem just the littlest bit shrill.
Israel I think this win was deserved. I don't really like the nasally tq that Dana has, but she's a good performer. Like a lot of other high ranking songs from this era, I don't think I've ever heard this song in full before, but the verses hold up to the chorus and everything feels consistent with the greater idea of the song. Good use of the background lights. And, also, shoutouts to the backing singers. They sounded good and the sound mixing for them was done really well... which, in Eurovision, is not always easy...
Germany "German Austin Powers runs into the audience, caresses several men, climbs onto the side stage" is something that I should hate, but I kind of love it. Like fuck this guy but also fuck, this guy! The whole thing with the cowbells was also very funny. Love a good Stefan Raab song.
Malta Chiara is such a good singer. Like she just sounds good and satisfying everywhere in the song no matter the volume, emotion, or register. WHICH IS WHY IT'S A DAMN SHAME THAT THIS SONG BORES ME TO TEARS. If you have a good singer (and good staging), give her a good song and maybe an actually attractive dress, cmon Malta I know you can do it she looked so good in 2005.
Hungary It just doesn't do it for me. IDK.
Slovenia This one too. It really didn't capture my attention. Although better than Hungary, I think.
Ireland Not bad. Clearly following on from Katrina and the Waves. I wasn't expecting her to have such a deep voice, but she sounds pretty good! Lol at the completely abandoned keyboard just sitting on the stage though.
Portugal I love the instrumentation here. The song is cute but the vocals and the way it draws back during the sung portions is less fun than the bits where it's just the bagpipes and the guitar.
Romania Malina doesn't come into herself here until that high note. It's an OK song but she's too quiet for it and the staging is too simple.
UK This is fun, I'm into it. Not my favorite by any means and not particularly a standout but it's good.
Cyprus I really enjoy how anthemic that chorus is. The backup singers were also used really well, in a way that made them sound like a full choir rather than five people.
Netherlands Queen Edsilia! Sounds good looks good feels good. No notes.
Sweden I'm not sold on it. She sounds ok I guess, but isn't she a country singer? I feel like maybe I would have been more into it if they'd sent her in a genre she did more? Iunno.
Belgium She's so cute and the whole package just comes together. Not usually my sort of song, but after the run of mostly boring songs I'm so refreshed by how much I enjoy this.
Finland I will be honest, I don't fully know what's going on here and I don't know how I feel about it.
Norway Cute. I like the vibes on this guy, how the camerawork incorporates the live orchestra, and the color scheme.
Estonia For some reason was not expecting this to be a piano ballad, but it's good.
Turkey Looks nice sounds nice. At this point my attention has started to wane quite a bit so unless it's super good or super bad I don't have much to say.
FYROM Wasn't expecting to like it, I don't hate it! Not the worst debut they could have had.
My top 25 1)France 2)Netherlands 3)Belgium 4)Germany 5)Switzerland 6)Ireland 7)Spain 8)Norway 9)Israel 10)Cyprus 11)Portugal 12)Estonia 13)Poland 14)Malta 15)Croatia 16)FYROM 17)Turkey 18)UK 19)Sweden 20)Slovakia 21)Slovenia 22)Romania 23)Greece 24)Hungary 25)Finland
Miscellaneous Thoughts that first interval act is such a colonial project. i think all the people angsting about how uk-heavy this year's hosting was should go back and watch eurovision 1998. "ok, we're going to explain the tiebreak rules" *proceeds to have the most competitive voting sequence of any eurovision i've ever watched*. i don't think they have explained the tiebreak rules on air since then, maybe not even when voting systems changed and the tiebreak rules also changed. it's giving the abba video they showed right before sweden swept the juries in 2023. a bit confused by the 2 separate voting graphics used, where one is a map and the other is the scoreboard with the winning country's flag waving. similar designs were also used in '99 and i was curious about it then too. my suspicion is that the map graphic is displayed while they reorganize the scoreboard to show standing order instead of running order but i'm not 1000% certain about that. good to know that greece and cyprus really have been exchanging douze since the dawn of time, especially considering that the crowd anticipated both of those douzes lmao nah, but like. this was such a strong year and it was so quintessentially chaotic and eurovision. the predictable douzes, the close voting, no one being able to find dana for like five minutes after the announcement. terry wogan was actually integrated into the hosting well, which graham norton was... not. i love it. this is one i'd love to watch again or recommend to people who haven't seen older contests before.

Yknow what. Gil, Cu, Roman, and Komadori
favorite thing about them
Gil: How absolutely human he is, despite how inhuman he is at the same time. He's an egotistical arrogant childish petty loudmouth obnoxious bastard, but he's noble and brave and loves kids and was a legitimately good king, and despite every single reason you could name it should be otherwise he's Chaotic Good. Not even neutral, straight up GOOD. He's terrible, he's amazing, he's a hero and a tyrant and he's so, so very human, good and bad.
Cu: He just...there's this vibe about him that's so warm and gentle despite his fighty battle-loving attitude. He can be quiet and soft and warm and introspective, and there's hints around him that he's sadder than he lets on -- and god, looking at his myth, of course he is. That quiet depth beyond stabby fighty Lancer is so much worth exploring.
Roman: HE'S SO SWEET. HE'S SO GOOD AND SWEET. He tried so hard and desperately wanted to save the world, and even if he got his wish he willingly gave it up to save people, because no matter how he'd changed or what he became as a human his soul, his core, never stopped being someone who wanted to help. He gave everything he'd wanted up because he just...couldn't let go of his selflessness and he's so human, I just aaah.
Komadori: YOU MEAN MY OC OH MY GOD UH. I love how much she loves people, stories, everyone she meets she just loves them so so much and she's so loud and insistent and unapologetic in how much she adores everyone around her, how much she loves being around them. Every Servant, even the scary ones even the monsters even the Evil ones she loves them all so aggressively and stubbornly and LOUDLY that they can't help but love her back.
least favorite thing about them
Gil: Looks at UBW. Looks at Fate Route. Looks at Villain Gilgamesh. MMMMPH. Honey let's not.
Cu: Less about him and more god I'm so tired of how he's treated in some fan circles. But also I hate how little good screentime he gets in everything. My poor guy dies so fast.
Roman: I HATE THAT HE'S GONE SO MUCH. Also the 'he's really obtuse and kind of dumb and tone deaf and says stupid shit just to be bullied about it' running joke in the dialogue got old.
Komadori: Honey baby can we maybe perhaps NOT be so tied up in issues the thought of leaving Chaldea is the most terrifying thing on Earth, scarier even than ORT?
favorite line
Gil: It's really hard to pick just one because Tomokazu Seki goes the FUCK OFF in every appearance, but I think either his chant for Enuma Elish, or the way he fucking purrs his 4th Ascension and Bond 5 lines.
Cu: I can't remember the exact dialogue, but there's something he says to Emiya in UBW that slapped extremely hard. That and his dying fuck you to Kirei.
Romani: You're asking what you should be aiming for then? Haha, sounds like you alright, Komadori. That's a good question. That's an easy one. You don't want to stop the game, but finish the game instead. The end comes for both you and me. Accomplish lots by then. Whether it's joy or sadness, success or setbacks, as long as it's something new. You still have plenty of those, don't you? Live life with no regrets. I believe, above all else, that this is what it means to be moral for an individual-- and if you can do that, that would make me very proud.
Komadori: Sadly she's my OC who's a VN protagonist so she doesn't get much actual dialogue, but her speech in LB6 when she DOES extremely fucks hard.
brOTP
Gil: Cu and Emiya, absolutely. Three idiots having chaos disaster fun times together because they're all varying levels of stupid and overly competitive and secretly lonely.
Cu: See above, Emiya and Gil! Though I also love writing his best friends relationship with my Master OC Komadori. They're such good friends it makes me happy.
Romani: Da Vinci for absolute sure. They're adorable as friends, it's incredible, I love it.
Komadori: I have a list. Cu, Robin, Emiya, Merlin, Ushiwaka, Mordred, Mandri, Kintoki, Saito, Osakabe and Jinako, Sanson, Jalter, Drake, Enkidu, Grandpa Moriarty...
OTP
Gil: Gil and Enkidu, Gil and Hakuno (F) somewhat, Gil and Cu, Gil and my Master OC...
Cu: Either Cu and Gil or Cu and Robin Hood :)
Romani: Either him and my Master OC or him and Merlin. Or both! He has two hands.
Komadori: Gil, Roman, Dantes, Musashi, Oberon.
nOTP
Gil: Frankly, Koto*Gil, no thanks, I just don't like it at all.
Cu: While I don't HATE it, I just don't ship him with Emiya, but a REAL NOTP is Cu and Medb oh god no.
Roman: Man IDK what other ships does he even have? EDIT I HAVE BEEN TOLD SOME PEOPLE SHIP HIM WITH DAVID NO WHY
Komadori: I don't like shipping my Master OC with Mash @_@ that's her baby sister!
random headcanon
Gil: He's an absolute lightweight when it comes to hard liquor, as he's used to mainly drinking beer and wine.
Cu: His Riastrad/warp spasm turns him into a wolfman. He's just a werewolf. Fight me.
Roman: He is a frecklebeast, he burns like a shellfish in the sun, don't do that to him, he almost misses being unaffected :(
Komadori: She had a stuffed wolf before Chaldea that she probably brought with her, she loves it, its name is Little Cu.
unpopular opinion
Gil: I think this man should be allowed to be vulnerable and insecure sometimes as a treat.
Cu: I HATE the "lol Cu died so funny" running joke Fate does with him so much.
Roman: Uhhhhhh. Not sure lmao, everyone loves him?
Komadori: RIYO AND LEARNING WITH MANGA IS TERRIBLE AND I HATE IT

💥 What is one canon thing that you wish you could change?
[note: i wrote out a whole Thing after automatically assuming this was thor-related, so if you were hoping for a CO-related answer, sorry </3 the answer there is: die sequel die die die and/or he would not fucking go to lse.]
okay so i've gone through a long list of petty and non-petty complaints, and the one thing i eventually landed on is: i wish they had been braver with thor's characterisation. like, i love thor as he is, i don't want him to be a DIFFERENT character, but i wish certain parts of him had been explored in greater depth.
specifically, i wish that they a) had let him show greater depths of negative emotion (while treating him with respect.) and b) leaned into his moral greys/complexities more.
on the matter of emotion: one thing that comes back to me a lot is that in t1, thor, odin and loki all cry; in a1, only loki cries; in t2, tears are only ever implied offscreen (again, loki's tears); and by t3, even implied tears are out, with the closest thing being loki making this face -> 🥺. and like... yes, increasing stoicism is definitely a genuine part of thor's character, but at the same time, i also think this is about like. marvel not wanting to be seen as Cheesy and Over-Earnest. and this hits thor particularly hard. loki gets to be a brooding villain/antihero, but thor has to be an action hero, and it's really suffocating.
on the matter of moral greys: this is, like, 50% the same thing as above, and 50% about them straight up being uncomfortable with the fact that mcu thor isn't really A Hero.
re: emotions again: looking closely at thor's moral greys also means looking closely at his fears, his guilt complex, his child abuse trauma, and his vulnerability in general. he does questionable things for a reason.
re: heroism: thor genuinely isn't a Hero, in my opinion; he's just a protagonist.
first of all, regardless of his medium of origin, he literally isn't a superhero - he's a prince and a warrior, he was born into both roles, and he (mostly) acts legally in interplanetary wars (ie: opposite of a street-level vigilante).
second of all - the story as laid out in old thor is deliberately undermining itself, esp wrt hero/villain/mentor roles, and because thor's hero mindset is inextricable from the role of asgard and the allfather in the nine realms, as Authorities and Protectors by Divine Right, we're meant to question his heroism itself! thor being controlling and overly dutiful in his personal life is not separable from thor being aggressive and reckless-to-the-point-of-self-destruction in his political life.
i'm getting away from the point here, but essentially, it's hard to sell a deconstruction of a hero narrative AS a hero narrative. though t3 damn well tried. (and it gets halfway to making many good points - i know i mostly complain about it, but i genuinely LOVE the destruction of mjolnir - but then it always kind of shies away again.)
a lot of my currently unwritten fanfic is focused on pushing thor's morally grey and sinister sides further while trying to keep him a sympathetic and understandable character. it's a fun challenge, and there's a lot of subtle/subtextual stuff in canon to draw on! i just wish canon had embraced and resolved it instead of just kind of abandoning it.
