Did you guys see this!!!
Ash is really, actually, indeed leaving!!!
While, yes, I am sad to see Ash go, but i feel this will give his character arc and story the deserved end. It’s a tough place to be, being both sad and happy.
It won’t be the same without him and initially i did not wanted him to leave at all, but then i remembered how it was after his Alola win and he started a new journey, or any time in pokeani history where he reached a certain height in a league and then again started from 0 in the next region. Now that he is a Monarch (and it seems he still has ways to become a Pokemon Master, from his small conversation with Gary); there isn’t much left, only the last step remains, to become a Pokemon Master, which may even take decades. So, giving a respectful sendoff is quite fitting, to stop while at peak.
It does not hurt we are getting a mini series for the grand depart. AND THAT TOO WITH MISTY AND BROCK!!!
I’ve been waiting sooooo long for the OG trio to be back!
It’s like coming to full circle, from where the whole story started.....
And with this -
Does it ever drive you crazy...
Just how fast the night changes...
I’ll admit, the shipper in me is going crazy right now. Like, I have been shipping these two even before i knew what shipping was!!!
I mean, I’m not expecting anything to be canonised by the end of this mini series, because let’s face it, they are still 10 years olds.
But them just being together is what i want, with Brock ofc. Being together, supporting each other, teasing, fighting and always getting lost, caring and protecting the other. My heart ❤️
Ohhhh, I’m absolutely delighted. Over the moon. On cloud nine. Ecstatic.
What a time to be alive 😍😍😍

As someone who's been a Team Starkid fan since the beginning, since 2009... do the young fans who only know hatchetfield know the old lore?? Do you know about crying in the choir room?? Do you know the door gag? Do you know Liam's got a phone call? Do you know about the iconic accidental sing along SanFran Con appearance? This isn't me being elitist or anything, I genuinely want to know! I just feel so very much older than all of you, all the time. Does anyone remember Tanya and her gay little blonde bob???

when you're into the Big Ship™ in a Big Fandom™, you have the luxury of having an OTP - a real One True Pairing, where you can read about just them for ages, and you will never run out of fics, and everything is perfect and beautiful and nothing hurts
but when you go to a smaller fandom, you'd better pray to whatever god you worship that someone else in this room ships the same thing that you do, and that if they do, they're writing more than late-night crackfic, because you're on thin fucking ice!
and how small is your small fandom? is it less than 100 fics? maybe even...less than 20 fics?
welp, then it's time to make peace with that god and either open up a text document or learn how to ship everything, because it's swim or drown babey! and your ship is sinking fast
anyway all of this is to say that after hanging out in small fandoms and shipping less-common pairings for a while, going back into a Big Huge Fandom™ is wild because suddenly it's like...wait, why didn't I ship these people again? I don't remember. why was I only sticking to one ship in this fandom?? boring of me, honestly. these guys should make out.

I’m so torn, because part of me wants Tai and Van to remain an unhealthily-bonded force to be reckoned with the entire time they’re in the wilderness. I want them to repress all the shit they’re not talking about, hide it all under physical contact and standing shoulder to shoulder against the world. I want them to pretend they’re fine, trick themselves into thinking it’s working as the weather grows warmer and the society they’ve built steadies. I want them to believe their love can outshine their toxic habits.
But the other part of me keeps thinking how DELICIOUS a messy gay breakup in the woods where they both still love and crave one another would be. Think of the yearning. Think of the sexual tension. Think of how intense it would be for them to go head to head at last, Believer vs. Skeptic, and how wild the inevitable crash would shake out. They can’t escape each other. They still need each other to survive. Van’s not gonna let Taissa sleepwalk alone and Taissa’s not gonna want to let Van go full Lottie without supervision. Think of how fucking taaaaasty that dynamic becomes when they both let themselves actually FEEL what their relationship lacks. Liv and Jasmin would fucking kill it and us and I kind of want it.

Yeah, as someone who was in boarding school a lot of my childhood- it's not neglect ffs. There are welfare roles, teachers, staff, other kids.
Do I have some issues with my parents now? Honestly yes, I do. I often wish they had been more involved.
But so do people whose parents have divorced or had to work a lot or honestly most people have issues with their parents.
Equating that to neglect??? When neglect is legally abuse? Is very serious
There are abusive/neglectful boarding schools but there are good ones and Tim went tk good ones
Yes boarding school can suck but between being home alone rather than with friends/teachers who raised me, I know which I'd pick. Most of my friends from college did not come from the same privilege I did and their parents also worked super hard but they didn't have the resources to pay for something like boarding school. I consider myself very fortunate!
Boarding school gave me community and an amazing education. My parents placing me there and paying for me was them taking care of me. And I can recognise that I'm extremely privileged for being able to have that education
(On anon because it's personal but no pressure to reply if you don't feel like it isn't relevant)
I think people throw around terms like negligence and abuse way too often when it comes to Tim without actually knowing what those terms mean and it results in people getting the wrong idea about his child hood which like considering I also grew up in a household were I never saw my parents since they both went out to work before I woke up in the morning and weren't home till after I went to sleep I don't get the fuss parents need to work it happens doesn't qualify as neglect and yeah we can talk about boarding school and how they can be good and bad but Tim never seems to have a problem with his and yeah I still think it would have been worse for Tim if his parents had flown him off to every corner of the earth like that's no life for a child

barnes and noble has been raising the prices of everything and further pushing for their premium membership option (which they raised the price of by 60 percent this year!) and then when they have big sales events, they're less than what they used to be.
last year at this time you could get one of their leather-bound book annex tomes for $12.50 (without a member discount) because of the 50 percent off all hardcover sales. but they raised the price of those tomes from 25 bucks to 30, and they decreased the sale from 50 percent off all hardcovers to 1/3rd off. so that same book that was $12.50 at last year's end-of-year sale is now 20 bucks. and that's supposed to be savings enough to induce me to walk into one of their stores this week?
i'm sorry but b&n has just gotten so greedy, even though their business has only been doing better and better in previous years. they do not have to be raising prices like they have been, and they can damn well afford to have the same savings events they used to. if you went to one of those hardcover sales a year or two ago, even if you lived in a less populated area like i do, you had never seen a b&n so busy in your life. things were flying off the shelves. they WERE making bank.
and as a company they've only been growing and growing (as much as the publishing industry has been, in recent years). but there are so many other ways to buy books. CHEAPER ways to buy books. MORE SUSTAINABLE ways to buy books. and since books and booksellers are doing really well right now, i don't see why barnes and noble is getting so greedy when they don't have to be. i dont like new shiny books that much. people buy books for the content, ultimately. sometimes we as consumers might make the choice that a new shiny book is worth paying a bit more for, but not that much. barnes and noble has just been demanding more and more of their customers' money for less and less benefit.

oot/mm link is so fucked up like.
you are a 10 year old child, living with other children, and you are different from them. you don’t know how.
you are a child, and you have found other children, supposedly like you.
you watch as your newest friend is torn from you, leaving only an ocarina and knowledge of a sword behind.
you pull the sword from its pedestal and the world goes white.
when you awaken, you are a child in a 17 year old’s body, and the world has turned to ruin in your absence.
you are a child in an adult’s body, yet you begin your quest to defeat the evil that took your friend from you.
you have gotten used to being in a 17 year old’s body, but the first friend you made in your new world has just sent you back to relive the childhood he believes was stolen from you, without even asking your permission. he does not know you’ve gotten used to this life.
you remember your previous life, in this new one. he would not have known.
you are 9 years old. you are an adult in a child’s body.
you face a demon puppeting a child’s body.
you have three days until the moon crashes. the moon crashes. you play a tune, and you have three days until the moon crashes.
you try not to think of yourself when you look at the skull kid, wearing the mask of the demon controlling them.
you try not to think of them when you tear the souls from others and craft them into masks. the agony of donning them is enough.
you do not know how old you are. you are 9 years old. you do not know how many times you have lived three days. you are not 9 years old.
you hold the power of a god in your hands.
you wear the power of a god on your face. you are a god in a child’s body.
you do not know what you are.

this is not supposed to be a serious thought (i think), just an observation i made while looping donketsu, but:
so, we have niigo and wxs, right? their event trailers were both at some point including jewels, gemstones or stuff like that — forgive me, i'm not a jewel person, but even if they're not exactly the same, they both fall into the similiar category. (more more jump also had a jem/gewel/things like these set in step by step, but they were not really assigned them [afaik. i didn't watch the teammate mv] nor they appeared in the trailer)
(forgive me for adding the unfixed wxs ver i just think it's still funny)
for wxs it's donketsu, the song for curtain call and for niigo it's tricologe, the song for depths of despair. while these (i'll just call them gems for short alright) in fact are mentioned in tricologe and are even on its cover, there are no mentions of them in donketsu, they're just here to reference the set i guess. still! it's the trailer that matters.
i'm not gonna analyze the position of the gems here, it has been already done back and forth during waiting for curtain call and during waiting for depths of despair probably too, but the surroundings of the gems is important here: wxs gems are still vivid in shiny, yet they are in a dark place, with an hourglass behind (or next to?) them. niigo gems are rather... dull, but they're surrounded by light colors, with something that can be thought of as a broken glass behind them (ik it's not. but i like to interpret it as such). hourglass, a symbol of a time passing. broken glass, a symbol of a new opportunity.
the events where the gems were used are during events on pretty much opposite sides. curtain call is talking about the fear of separation, of having to part ways, of an approaching ending. and depths of despair is talking about the very beginning of niigo. there is no fear, there is a slight hope. slight, because they're still at the very bottom of despair, but a hope nonetheless — for kanade to save someone, for mafuyu to be saved.
rui in curtain call knows that his bond with wxs is coming to an end. kanade in depths of despair knows that her bond with niigo is only getting started.
gems for separation and ending, gems for closeness and beginning.
well, i don't have an conclusion for this. i just wanted to talk about it because i think it's pretty cool. take this as you wish.

Not people asking Celticists to do critical editions of texts because they asked us nicely to.
I would love to edit and translate manuscripts all day long, on top of working as a teaching assistant, my side job in the field that also pays me, preparing conference papers for presentation, which often includes translating Latin, Middle Welsh, Old Irish, Early Modern Irish, and Modern Irish myself, even when scholars before me have translated them (to ensure that the nuances are captured), adapting those papers to Powerpoints, arranging accommodations and flights for said conferences, playing Stardew Valley, organizing conferences/conference panels, working on my phd, working on projects that are actually publishable in the field, plotting the next Fomoire invasion of Ireland, as well as my various and assorted commitments to different groups and organizations that I am also doing without pay in order to bolster my CV so that there is a snowball's chance in Hell that I have a shot at employment, while even more senior scholars in the field have to struggle to justify their translation work. It reminds me of an article on the Celtic Students blog that talks about how the overwhelming amount of public outreach in the field, at the moment, is done by Grad Students, yours truly included.
In these digital spaces, students of Celtic Studies (predominantly graduate students) carry the brunt of the public's attention, and work to amend persistent pervasive errors or misunderstandings (such as 'did the Celts really fight naked in battle', 'were the Celts really matriarchal', and 'why did Saint Patrick commit a genocide against the pagans') that have found themselves deeply rooted in public consciousness. These misunderstandings appear to have been perpetuated by the rise of the internet giving the public access to wildly out of date scholarly publications, the Wikipedia articles on medieval Celtic literature being deeply inaccurate, and a small cottage industry of people producing exceptionally inaccurate self-published books (and ebooks) about 'Celtic Mythology' that dominate digital marketplaces such as Amazon and the Kobo storefront.
Despite this being important work, and entirely legitimate scholarly labor, it can be disheartening when this work is not recognized as legitimate or worthwhile by senior members of the field compared to standard scholarly activities.
