(976) drift
arms outstretched
i fall backwards into the black
forming words that define the space around them
twisting sound into meaning
and each word forms a connection to the space around them
defining them and discarding all the things they are not
making webs of words, nets of words
that shimmer past me as I fall through them
i trail behind me in front of me
concepts that glitch iridium-silver-black into meaning
that pinpoint light that is so far away
and is so rapidly retreating:
some connection that becomes its own light
some gravity that becomes its own planet
some blank that becomes its own white
some sand that becomes its own pearl;
some staircases that become their own bed
some falls that become their own rise
and i'm caught not on words but on what they might mean
and i'm caught not on oceans but what swims within
and i'm caught not on autumn but on what drifts with the leaves
and i'm caught not by the black but by what i bring with me
and i'm caught by the promises i've made that i'll finish
before i go
it's not so long that i'll walk all the miles that i've soloed
uphill and backwards in the silver rain
i'll just lie here still falling on the floor
watching words drift by me

(976) DISCLOSURE: Didn't play it I watched a longplay so this is purely from a onlooker point of view not actually hands on with the game.
Definitely looks like wonky controls but something that just works if you get it down, really interesting concepts and I love the art style and backgrounds, music and ambience are awesome. Really cool to watch the different ways you can cheese this one if you know how the game operates. I'll be honest just watching I don't completely get everything that's going on but it was still good background like dumb entertainment. Looks similar to Resident Evil in how it plays but again that's just from watching I don't know how it actually feels.
It's really interesting how a lot of games of this era hadn't come to one good solution for movement and controls it'd be cool to see things like this remade now even if it was a budget title 1:1. I love seeing little flourishes like the light coming through a lattice metal door on a elevator stuff that we take for granted now because it's just baked into a good lighting system but you had to manually color a lot of those background elements in the past, that isn't to say it isn't still gorgeous in modern titles or that it doesn't take work to get it to work how you envision it as the artist but there will always be something unique and special about retro hardware rendering and techniques.
