It has been a while since Salman Khan has made a new film announcement. Over the last 2 years, the superstar has been busy working on his Eid 2023 and Diwali 2023 release, Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan and Tiger 3. But that’s not all, SK has been flooded with offers from filmmakers across genres and it seems that he has gotten back to his original roots. Pinkvilla has exclusively learnt that Salman Khan and Sooraj Barjatyaare reuniting for the fifth time on their next epic family drama tentatively titled Prem Ki Shaadi.
Salman Khan and Sooraj Barjatya to start shooting from November 2023
“Salman Khan and Sooraj Barjatya have been discussing Prem Ki Shaadi for a while now and the film is now in the stage of hitting the floors this year. Salman and Sooraj are looking to start Prem Ki Shaadi from November/December 2023. With the film, Sooraj plans to celebrate love in the backdrop of nuclear families and is among the most special subjects that he has developed till date,” revealed a source close to the development.
Prem Ki Shaadi will be targeting a Diwali 2024 release in cinema halls across the globe and will proceed to the casting stage soon. “Sooraj Barjatya will get into the process of locking the female lead and key ensemble cast of Prem Ki Shaadi in a couple of months. While his films have always had romantic tracks leading to “shaadi”, this time around, the entire conflict revolves around the life of a married couple with strong family elements,” the source added.

While his Diwali 2024 project at the moment is Prem Ki Shaadi, there are a dozen of scripts that he is considering for Eid 2024. “Salman has been offered a film each by Mythri, Dharma Productions, Dil Raju, Aamir Khan Productions, and Sajid Nadiadwala that have the potential of being his Eid 2024 offing. He is talking to all stakeholders, apart from developing a couple of in-house films under his banner, Salman Khan Films. He will take a call on his Eid 2024 offing hopefully by April, as the idea is to start a new film by June 2023,” the source informed.
Apart from the two aforementioned project, Salman is committed to do the biggest action film of India – Tiger v/s Pathaan – for Yash Raj Films which pits him against Shah Rukh Khan. B-2 : Why Indians Need to Watch Frank Capra’s Movies?
If you're a fan of Old Hollywood, you can realize the significance of Frank Capra (1897-1991) in the American Film Industry. An Italian by origin, he spent 89 years in the United States. His life story was that of a "rags to riches" one - an ideal example of achieving the American Dream. He also served in the United States Army during the Second World War - and made several war documentaries. One can learn about it in the Netflix series Five Came Back - with Guillermo del Toro narrating his story. Capra has influenced many directors of the post-World War II era (from Indian directors like Satyajit Ray & Raj Kapoor to foreign directors like Akira Kurosawa, Steven Spielberg, & Francois Truffaut). But what is it that makes Capra's work evergreen?
Before I start, I wish to talk about my rendezvous with Capra. I first heard about him when he attended the 1972 Oscars to co-present the Best Director Award with Natalie Wood (to William Friedkin for The French Connection). I watched six of Capra's movies between December 2021 and July 2022. They are:
It Happened One Night (1934)
Mr. Deeds Goes to Town (1936)
You Can't Take It with You (1938)
Mr. Smith s Goes to Washington (1939)
Meet John Doe (1941)
It’s A Wonderful Life (1946)
(1) Clark Gable and Claudette Colbert in It Happened One Night
(2) Raj Kapoor and Nargis in Chori Chori
I loved every single picture. While watching It Happened One Night, I found it similar to the 1956 Raj Kapoor-Nargis starrer Chori Chori (not to mention their final collaboration). The screwball comedy got remade in several Indian languages - even the 1991 movie Dil Hai Ki Manta Nahin (with Aamir Khan and Pooja Bhatt). The key themes the movie exhibits are the class and socio-economic differences between the two lead characters - along with love, freedom, poverty, unemployment, etcetera.
It would also be interesting to know that It Happened One Night was the first of the three movies to win the "Big Five" awards at the Oscars: Best Film, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress, and Best Screenplay. The other two movies are One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest (1975) and Silence of The Lambs (1991).
Below are the heroes of Capra:
(1) Gary Cooper in Mr. Deeds Goes to Town
(2) James Stewart in Mr. Smith Goes to Washington
Mr. Deeds and Mr. Smith grabbed my attention because of the themes discussed in the two (like corruption, misuse of power, beliefs in democracy, patriotism, etcetera). The most significant element is the depiction of the ideal 'American Hero' - which one can see in Gary Cooper and James Stewart, respectively. However, the hero is something that every nation wishes to have - including ours. Mr. Deeds Goes to Town got remade in Bengali (Raja-Saja of 1960 with Uttam Kumar) and Tamil (Nallathambi of 1949 with S. Krishnan). Whereas Mr. Smith Goes to Washington did not have an Indian adaptation.
However, Mr. Smith reminded me of how the English tried to suppress such movements during the freedom struggle. Scenes like 'young boys printing newspapers and citizens launching movements to prove a man's innocence & bureaucrats and politicians trying to stop it' remind us of such events. One must remember that it got released less than three years before Gandhiji launched the Quit India movement of 1942. Even after independence, now and then, we come across news headlines featuring similar happenings.
(3) Gary Cooper and Barbara Stanwyck in Meet John Doe
(4) Amitabh Bachchan and Shabana Azmi in Main Azaad Hoon
Meet John Doe is about a "grassroots" political campaign created unwittingly by a newspaper columnist with the involvement of a hired homeless man and pursued by the paper's wealthy owner. The renowned Indian adaptation of the film is the Amitabh Bachchan-Shabana Azmi starrer Main Azaad Hoon (1989). It's one of the rarest movies where Bachchan has not fought the corrupt violently.
Although John Doe survives in the end, Azaad kills himself to stay true to the words of the reporter's fictional character. Azaad could have avoided it - but he did not do it so that the people's anger and urge to fight the corrupt system never cool down. Azaad also leaves a message for his supporters and appeals that Azaad should evolve in them. Capra claimed that he never found a satisfying ending for Meet John Doe. However, Main Azaad Hoon provides a finale that suits the main character's commonality and mythic stature.
(5) Lionel Barrymore, James Stewart, Jean Arthur, and Edward Arnold in You Can’t Take It with You
And finally, You Can't Take It with You (for which he won his third Directing and second Best Picture Oscar) has a similar theme to It Happened One Night. It's a love story of a successful banker's son and his stenographer. In several Bollywood movies, we see romances between a rich boy and a poor girl (and vice versa) - but they are not like the romances between Capra's characters.
(6) Donna Reed, Stewart, and Karolyn Grimes in It’s A Wonderful Life
This article would be incomplete without talking about It's a Wonderful Life (his first movie after leaving the Army) - which gives an important lesson about the significance and beauty of human life. It teaches us that our work can impact the people we come across - and those with friends are never lonely.
But that's not all!
We live in his world. It is the "Capra Universe" - where demons of society have surrounded us - and all we need is a "hero" to fight against them. Indeed, there are various Indian movies with similar themes (and distinct from Capra's plots). However, one can the difference only after watching them. Capra has taught us that you can be a rebel or an "angry young man" - without having a gun or a weapon to fight the system and beating up the bad guys. All you must do is to believe in yourself and the moral principles of society. He gave complex social and economic problems a human face - showing unemployment and vast concentrations of economic power.
Elaborating on the themes expressed in Capra's most famous works, two of the most reoccurring subjects are selflessness and a familial sense of community. That's why there is always strong support for the lead characters.
The only difference between Capra's movies and the Indian versions is the inclusion of songs - a standard Indian Cinema formula.
With themes depicted in them and the problems we see around us, Indians must watch some of Capra's movies. There have been directors who have remade them in the Indian context (and there will be in the future, no doubt). However, they won't have the exact authenticity as those of Capra's movies.

Throwback: When a section of the industry speculated that Hrithik Roshan’s Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai and Aamir Khan’s Mann were based on Titanic
The much-loved Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai completed 24 years yesterday. It was released in cinemas on January 14, 2000, and was the biggest hit of that year. Debutant Hrithik Roshan became a superstar overnight and continues to rule even today. Though the actress opposite him, Ameesha Patel, was also a newcomer, the film was in the news even before its release. In fact, more than 25 years ago, there were even rumours that the Rakesh Roshan-directorial is based on the Hollywood blockbuster, Titanic (1997)!
This interesting bit of information was mentioned in Komal Nahta’s magazine Film Information dated June 27, 1998. It mentioned that as per rumours in the film industry, not just Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai but also Aamir Khan-Manisha Koirala starrer Mann (1999) was Titanic’s remake. The article debunked the myth and also said that the only similarity between the Hindi films and Titanic was that they were being shot aboard a ship. Since Titanic was also set on a ship, probably some people put two and two together and spread the speculation.
A major section of Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai was set on a ship in the first half. The film was the story of Rohit (Hrithik Roshan) and Sonia (Ameesha Patel) who meet in Mumbai and later on a cruise ship. Due to an interesting turn of events, both are stranded on an island where they fall in love. In an interview to Komal Nahta’s Film Information magazine dated December 5, 1998, Rakesh Roshan spoke in detail about why he chose the Star Clipper ship of the USA and the challenges he faced in shooting on board and taking the aerial shots mid-sea. Bollywood Hungama published excerpts of this interview on January 14.
Mann, meanwhile, directed by Indra Kumar was about Dev (Aamir Khan) and Priya (Manisha Koirala). Both meet each other on a cruise and though they were engaged to their respective partners, sparks flew between them. The musical entertainer was shot on Sun Cruises in Singapore.
As for Titanic, it was directed by James Cameron and told the story of Jack (Leonardo DiCaprio), a poor artist and his love affair with Rose (Kate Winslet) aboard an ill-fated ship in 1912. It was based on accounts of the sinking of RMS Titanic though it was also extensively fictionalized. The disaster film was a blockbuster across the world. In India, it stunned one and all as it did exceedingly well despite not being dubbed in Hindi for almost a year.
As per the Film Information issue dated August 22, 1998, Titanic was the first ever English film to have completed 25 weeks in more than 10 centres in India. It recorded footfalls of nearly 2.5 crores which is higher than many of the big hits of today. The report stated, “It has also been the first English film to have run to full houses for its first 10 weeks. What is more remarkable is the fact that Titanic achieved such a huge success despite having only 86 prints in circulation, and all in the original (English) version! In fact, the collections of Titanic in India are the fourth highest in the whole of Asia, after Japan, South Korea and Taiwan.”

Releasing in Hindi and Telugu, this visual extravaganza marks the Hindi film debut of Varun Tej, introducing him as an Indian Air Force pilot. Manushi Chhillar will be seen in the role of a radar officer. This article would be incomplete without talking about It's a Wonderful Life (his first movie after leaving the Army) - which gives an important lesson about the significance and beauty of human life. We live in his world. It is the "Capra Universe" - where demons of society have surrounded us - and all we need is a "hero" to fight against them. Indeed, there are various Indian movies with similar themes (and distinct from Capra's plots). However, one can the difference only after watching them. Capra has taught us that you can be a rebel or an "angry young man" - without having a gun or a weapon to fight the system and beating up the bad guys. All you must do is to believe in yourself and the moral principles of society. He gave complex social and economic problems a human face - showing unemployment and vast concentrations of economic power.
Elaborating on the themes expressed in Capra's most famous works, two of the most reoccurring subjects are selflessness and a familial sense of community. That's why there is always strong support for the lead characters.
The only difference between Capra's movies and the Indian versions is the inclusion of songs - a standard Indian Cinema formula.
With themes depicted in them and the problems we see around us, Indians must watch some of Capra's movies. There have been directors who have remade them in the Indian context (and there will be in the future, no doubt). However, they won't have the exact authenticity as those of Capra's movies.

Mumbai (Maharashtra) , August 7 (Always First): Bollywood star Aamir Khan's daughter Ira Khan dropped a twinning-in-black picture with her boyfriend Nupur Shikhare on social media, giving a major shoutout to her father Aamir Khan's film 'Laal Singh Chaddha'.
On Sunday, Ira took to her Instagram handle and posted a picture of herself along with her boyfriend Nupur Shikhare. She extended her support for her father's upcoming film Laal Singh Chadha, ahead of its release.
In the picture, Ira Khan and Nupur could be seen twinning in black. Her boyfriend donned a black t-shirt, while Ira opted for a sheer black top with a black bralette underneath that. The two smiled for the lens, as Nupur put his hand around Ira's waist. Ira posted the image and captioned it as, "Hey @nupur_shikhare #laalsinghchaddha," a shout-out to Aamir's movie.
Aamir shares 25-year-old daughter Ira with his ex-wife Reena Dutta. Aamir and Kiran got married on December 28, 2005. They welcomed their first son, Azad, through surrogacy in 2011. Aamir was earlier married to Reena Dutta but got separated in 2002. He has a daughter Ira and a son Junaid from his first marriage with Reena.
Helmed by Advait Chandan, 'Laal Singh Chaddha' is an official Hindi adaptation of the Academy Award-winning 1994 film Forrest Gump, which had Tom Hanks in the lead role. It is scheduled to release on August 11 this year.
Kareena Kapoor Khan and Mona Singh are also a part of the film. A few weeks ago, Aamir unveiled the film's trailer which took viewers on a joyride of emotions. The almost 3-minute-long trailer gave a glimpse into the fascinating and innocent world of Laal Singh Chaddha, the film's protagonist.
His slow-witted approach and childlike optimism are the driving force of the movie. In the trailer, Aamir's calming voiceover and his eyes-wide-open look gave flashbacks to his mannerisms from Rajkumar Hirani's 'PK'.
It showed multiple picturesque locations, exhibiting the Indian heritage in its tranquil form. Aamir's cute chemistry with Kareena is great and Mona Singh also looked seamless in the role of the protagonist's mother.
Meanwhile, talking about the work front, Aamir is currently busy promoting his upcoming family entertainer film 'Laal Singh Chadha' which is all set to hit the theatres on August 11, 2022. (Always First)

After a long absence, Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan is set to return to the big screen. Readers may recall that Aamir Khan is expected to make a comeback in a film produced by his own label, Aamir Khan Productions. According to the latest rumors, the actor will play the major role in a future film produced by Sony Pictures.
The creators are anticipated to make an official statement about it tomorrow, August 31.
For the uninitiated, the new project is supposed to be produced by his own production company, Aamir Khan Productions. The actor has set the Christmas period, December 20, 2024, as the film's premiere date. However, the director and other facts are being withheld. On August 29, veteran trading analyst Taran Adarsh announced the news on his official Twitter feed.

After ruling the industry for 30 years, the Three Khan’s – Shah Rukh, Salman and Aamir – will be seen together for the first time in Aamir Khan’s Laal Singh Chaddha, which is the official adaptation of Hollywood Classic, Forrest Gump starring Tom Hanks in lead. It was recently revealed that Shah Rukh Khan’s cameo is a character back in the time of Raj set around the DDLJ era, whereas Salman Khan will be seen in his Prem avatar for this social comedy. Bollywood Hungama has exclusively discovered that while Shah Rukh Khan has already shot for his cameo in Delhi for 2 to 3 days, Salman Khan on the other hand has allotted one entire day to Aamir Khan from his choco-blocked schedule.
“Salman couldn't say a no to Aamir and instantly agreed to come on board. He reworked on his shooting calendar and alloted time to Aamir to shoot the cameo as per his convenience, in a manner that it doesn't disturb either of the two's shoot schedule. Salman's track revisits Prem from the Maine Pyaar Kiya days and he has allotted just one day to Aamir to shoot for his cameo in the film. He will be shooting the entire day with Aamir at a studio soon, and finish his part of a 3 to 4 minute cameo playing the much loved character of Prem.
Aamir, who is on a journey of self-discovery, happens to meet him at a film studio,” a source told Bollywood Hungama.
The cameo of Salman will be shot either around December 20 or a month later around January 20, once he finishes shooting for the Aayush Sharma starrer Antim: The Final Truth. “Contrary to the general belief, the three Khan’s won’t be seen together in the same frame. It’s rather, Aamir’s character of Laal Singh Chaddha, meeting them in different phases of his life in a span of 5 to 6 years,” the source further told us.
Laal Singh Chaddha also features Kareena Kapoor as the female lead and the film is all confirmed to release during the Christmas 2021 weekend.
