please. please tell me what is going on with hbomberguy who are these people
hbomberguy is a pretty popular youtuber (one of the original "breadtubers", if that rings a bell, even though it's kinda meaningless). you might have heard of him from his among us stream with alexandria occasio cortez a few years back, or his excellent documentary on anti-vaxxers. he recently dropped a massive video essay on youtube plaigiarism.
james somerton is a youtuber who allegedly makes videos on lgbtq+ topics. i say "allegedly" because he is the main topic of the video, with around 2 hours dedicated to his absolutely batshit insane plagiarism. i haven't watched it yet, but last night todd in the shadows also made a video, this time drawing attention to the actual rhetorical claims somerton makes.

I was tagged by the spiffy @mountainmaven
fave colour = Rainbow Glitter or I guess maybe pale aqua? i don't really have a solid favorite. It changes a lot.
currently reading = Greenwich Park by Katherine Faulkner
last song = Inside Out by POSTDATA (their newest release from last year and it kicks ass)
sweet/spicy/savoury = i like them all. i like sweet and spicy together too. it just depends on the mood i'm in.
fave alc drink = i like a good paloma a lot - but i'm v changeable - as long as i don't taste the booze i'm happy. (in a mixed drink anyway. but i'm more often going to be having wine or cider)
currently working on = lol trying to figure what the hell i'm doing with my life hehheh... heh >.<
traditional or modern = eclectic - antique stuff but comfortable and colorful soft furnishings- a happy mix
fave writer = Jane Austen,
fave dessert = ooh this is hard - i love creme brulee but uhhh i also love a decadent cake with some chocolate ganache in it or some sort of lemon raspberry cheesecake..
fave rapper = uhhhhhhh idk man - i'll let you know when i have one?
fave soccer/hockey/tennis player = i don't have one? Like if i named one of the few players i could think of ( I can think of a very few) it wouldn't really be because they were my " favorite" it would just be "i know of their name and maybe a couple things?" so I'll abstain.
fave politician = ever??? or now? Maxine waters is p dang cool - I appreciate Alexandria Occasio-Cortez decently... Shirley Chisholm was a kick ass politician... But is this open to people who might not have held politial office but were activists? Because Dolores Huerta is p dang cool.
colour of bedroom = ideally I like somewhat lighter colors- because i like colorful cheets and pillows... either warmish white or light light yellow or light robin's egg blue, or light light pink - because those lighter tones i feel like are easier to work with
loyalty or lust = i mean por que no los dos??? but in terms of more than romantic relationships : loyalty. In terms of romantic ones - I want both! I feel like I have some very loyal people - i'm over due on people lusting after me frankly lol - i would like to correct that balance a bit ok???
pizza or pasta = i hate this choice. this should not be an OR question. But I make pasta too often to go without pasta, s i guess pasta. (But Pizza - I LOVE YOU- don't leave me!!)
are you vegan or veggie = nah, I like some vegan and quite a bit of vegetarian options but i eat eggs and honey and meat.
fave time period = This is just for historical and aesthetic reasons ( because lbr i don't want to live in a time without all the technological advantages and antibiotics I can get) Latter half of the 18th century ( particularly French style) and the British Regency period (Georgian stuff is my fucking JAM ok?), late victorian and some edwardian period stuff, Ancient Rome - under Augustus through Marcus Aurelius, the Dutch golden age ( especially for art), the 1950s for fashion was amazing, and probably more - i mean i love some stuff from ancient egypt - but that's way too long to be " a period" and i can't narrow down particular dynasties or kingdoms, nd same with some ancient mesopotamian stuff.
love or hate = they don't say it's hate that makes the world go round - so clearly the answer is LOVE, LOVE, LOVE. It's easy. (just ask Paul and Ringo.)
last series watched = I'm always watching several things. Handmaid's Tale, House of the Dragon, The Serpent Queen, Interview with a Vampire, I just binged Dark Winds, and there are other things i've just watched the odd episode of but not stuck onto.
classical or rock music = I guess on balance, rock? But I'm not sure that what i listen to is necessarily "rock" music... I listen to a lot of stuff but I guess it's closer to rock than it is classical - but calling it rock feels weird?
fairy or dragon = Fairy. Dragons are fun but I am way more into fairies. Plus i'd rather have a gryphon than a dragon, unless dragons are extra friendly. (Like w/ GoT and HotD I enjoy the people and political machinations - I'm not as psyched about dragons)
GOT or LOTR = In terms of the books - I read all of LotR and watched all the films. I haven't read any of the ASoIaF books, while idid watch all of GoT and am currently watching House of the Dragon... I also don't know that i will ever read the ASoIaF books... Idk maybe i will in time, we'll see. I enjoy both but I'm not sure I'm a diehard for either.
Okay, so I'mma tag: @seashells-and-bookshelves , @theselkiesea , @usedtobeanothername , @waitingtogethome , and @ndb-123 ! No pressure if i did tag you, and if i didn't, consider yourself tagged if you'd like!

Paradigm Crypto Policy Council Enlists Paul Ryan Among Other D.C. Vets
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Web3 venture capital firm Paradigm has launched a Crypto Policy Council that includes former Speaker of the House of Representatives Paul Ryan (R-WI) and former U.S. Congressman Steve Israel (D-NY), among other political figures, the company announced Monday.
The eight-member bipartisan council will advise Paradigm’s leadership and assist the company in “tell[ing] the story of Web3 in Washington and around the world.”
Ryan will lead the council as senior advisor along with Chris Brummer, director of Georgetown’s Institute of International Economic Law.
Marta Belcher, the only technology-native member of the policy council, currently serves as special counsel at the Electronic Frontier Foundation, and works as an attorney focusing on blockchain and emerging technologies.
“Tackling crypto policy challenges requires an array of perspectives and experiences,” Justin Slaughter, Paradigm’s head of policy, said in a tweet on Monday. “This team has it all.”
Thrilled to finally announce this endeavor. Tackling crypto policy challenges requires an array of perspectives and experiences. This team has it all.https://t.co/kpm96q6dK7
— Justin Slaughter (@JBSDC) November 7, 2022
Other Washington veterans appointed to the council include Deb Callahan, former president of the League of Conservation Voters; Makan Delrahim, former U.S. assistant attorney general; Nicole Elam, president and CEO of the National Bankers Association; and Parker Poling, former chief of staff to Congressman Patrick McHenry (R-NC), who is widely anticipated to chair the powerful House Financial Services Committee, should Republicans retake the House in Tuesday’s midterm elections.
“This is not a lobbying group, they will not be lobbying Congress or advocating externally,” a Paradigm spokesperson told Decrypt. “The policy council will advise Paradigm and offer its opinions on crypto policy internally.”
The council’s members will be “compensated nominally for their part-time advisory role,” the spokesperson noted, while highlighting their “tremendous talents” and “unique cross-sector expertise.”
“Policy council members will meet regularly throughout the year, both in person and virtually, to advise Paradigm on the latest crypto policy developments,” the spokesperson said.
Late last month, Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) and Representative Alexandria Occasio-Cortez (D-NY), among other Democratic lawmakers, circulated letters to federal financial regulators including the SEC and CFTC, asking them to clarify their policies on barring ex-employees from seeking jobs in the crypto sector.
“Crypto firms have hired hundreds of ex-government officials,” the letter read. “We are concerned that the crypto revolving door risks corrupting the policymaking process and undermining the public’s trust in our financial regulators.”
The letter—and Paradigm’s push into federal policymaking terrain—come at a time when financial regulators and legislators appear poised to make landmark determinations as to crypto’s regulatory fate.
A divisive “DeFi killing” bill that would see the majority of the crypto industry regulated by the CFTC is currently circulating around the capital, unfinished.Meanwhile, on Wednesday morning, a federal judge ruled that decentralized file sharing platform LBRY violated federal securities laws in offering its native token, LBC, in a move that some called an “extraordinarily dangerous precedent” for crypto.

The point being that AOC has announced her engagement. I think that's another way of saying her boyfriend/fiancee is literally screwed in every way possible. And she's the type that just may put on a strap on and literally fuck her boyfriend/fiancee/future husband. I have the feeling that she proposed to him in no uncertain terms. You are gonna except being married to or else ultimatums. Because no man in his right mind would want to be married to her. She's as dumb as a doorknob. Alexandria Occasio Cortez all she has going for her is her enormous salary. Other than that, no guy unless drunk, on drugs or being forced into marriage would accept willing. Comment of the Week
“To expound on my initial comment, I agree with Mark that I am not optimistic about President Biden involving himself in Americans’ diet and nutrition choices. From what I’ve seen, even his most well-meaning efforts to address legitimate issues tend to only exacerbate them.
In my opinion, this should not be within the purview of the federal government, let alone the executive branch; it should be the concern only of the individual household. The federal/state governments can influence their respective corrections and military meal plans… however, Joe Biden (along with Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton, Michelle Obama, Joe Rogan, Alexandria Occasio-Cortez, Bill Gates, Robb Wolfe, Mark Sisson, Julia Child, etc.) will never effectively tell me what I can or cannot prepare in my own kitchen.”
-I think we can all agree there, . Except for Julia Child—I’d listen to her.

Cheat Sheet on the Canadian Election for my American Friends (and for Canadians who didn’t take civics in high school)
How the System Works
Canadians do not vote directly for our Prime Ministers the way you vote for Presidents; rather, Canadians elect representatives (called ‘Members of Parliament’ or ‘MPs’) for their local district (called a ‘riding’), to control one seat in the House of Commons (roughly analogous to Congress).
Each candidate in a riding represents one political party. When all of the votes are counted in every riding, the party that controls the most seats in the House of Commons forms the government, and their leader becomes the Prime Minister.
A candidate wins the election in a particular riding if they get more votes than any one of the other candidates; note, that I didn’t say “the majority of the votes.” This system is called ‘First-Past-the-Post’ and it can create serious problems.
There are more than two parties here. Depending on where you live in the country, there could be as many as six parties with a serious shot at winning your seat. What this means is that it’s possible (common, in fact) for a candidate to be elected with most of the population voting for other parties.
Who the Players Are
The Liberal Party of Canada (Leader: Justin Trudeau). A centrist, neoliberal political party and the government for the last four years. Has formed the government, on and off, for most of the last century. Generally campaigns on a relatively left-wing platform and then governs in a much more capitalistic sort of way. Basically your Democrats.
The Conservative Party of Canada (Leader: Andrew Scheer) A right-wing party and official opposition for the last four years. Created from a merger between the old Progressive Conservative (moderate right-wing) and Reform (far-right wing) parties. Roughly analogous to your Republican Party.
The New Democratic Party (Leader: Jagmeet Singh) A left-wing party. Recently returned to its socialist roots. They’ve never formed the government at the federal level, but they have governed most of the provinces at one time or another. Roughly analogous to Bernie Sanders or Alexandria Occasio-Cortez
The Green Party of Canada (Leader: Elizabeth May) An Environmentalist party. Their policy platform is arguably somewhat to the right of the NDP, but still left of the Liberals. Roughly analogous to your Green Party, except somewhat more successful
The Bloc Quebecois (Leader: Yves-François Blanchet) A Quebec nationalist party. Politically, they tend to be socialist on economic issues, but in recent years they have adopted right-wing policies on immigration and accommodation of religious minorities (especially Muslims, Sikhs, and Jews). Have their roots in Quebec separatism, but it’s not a priority this time around. There is no analogue to the Bloc in American politics.
The People’s Party of Canada (Leader: Maxime Bernier) A fascist “right-wing populist and nationalist” political party. Basically a vehicle for Bernier’s ego masquerading as a political party. Anti-regulation, anti-tax, anti-immigration, anti-LGBT, anti-environmentalist. Generally awful all around. Fuck them with a jackhammer. Roughly analogous to Trumpism, except that for “populists” they have remarkably little popular support. Seriously, fuck these guys.
What the Issues Are:
Global warming is the big one this time around. Both the Liberals and the Conservatives (and the People’s Party, but who cares) are wholly committed to development of Canada’s massively polluting oil sands, though the Liberals favour a carbon tax. The NDP and the Greens have ‘green new deal’-style plans. The Bloc doesn’t like pipelines.
Trudeau’s record. Four years ago, Trudeau came into office on a platform of infrastructure stimulus spending, electoral reform, improving Canada’s relations with First Nations, and revising environmental regulations, which had been gutted by the previous government. He has since done none of these things, and a lot of people are upset about that.
The SNC Lavalin scandal. Basically, Trudeau put pressure on his attorney general to help one of his corporate donors evade prosecution for corruption and it blew up in his face.
Income inequality has been a bit of a sleeper issue, in that the NDP proposed a new wealth tax and it has proven more popular than the media was expecting.
Immigration was supposed to be a big issue, especially with the People’s Party running in direct opposition to multiculturalism, but it hasn’t really caught on.
Justin Trudeau himself. His image as a woke, laid-back, yoga-doing Disney prince was a major draw last time around, but many people have soured on the whole thing, especially after all of those photos emerged of him doing blackface 20 years ago.

Note
That’s not a troll post. Several prominent leftists, including New York representative Alexandria Occasio Cortez, have tweeted out about wanting to compile a blacklist of Trump supporters and “enablers”. Coupled with that infamous Maxine Waters “show them they are not welcome here” video, and yeah. The anti fascists are wanting this done.
*Facepalm*
Imagine if Trump won and ordered all Bernie voters put on a register!
They'd be screaming he's a fascist till the cows came home!
But sure I guess it's totally fine when THEY do it.
Fucking hypocrites.
