Prompt #81 “Baby Vampire”

The Fenton parents are monster hunters.

One night they left their daughter home with a babysitter while the two of them went hunting in the woods.

They found a vampire camp. Tents posted up and a campfire burning in the middle.

The strangest part was that there was a baby boy playing with sticks and rocks near one of the tents. The vampires must have kidnapped the poor thing! And the boy was so pale, they must have been feeding off of him!

So, they attacked the camp, set fire to the tents, killed all the vampires, and took the child home with them.

They tried to feed him with all sorts of foods, but he was just getting thinner by the day.

They tried feeding him baby food, baby formula, fruits, cooked meats; he ate all of it, but nothing seemed to give him any nourishment.

But after about a week of trying and failing to feed this poor boy, Jack stumbled over something while carrying a knife, dropped said knife, and accidentally cut his hand with it.

Beads of blood rolled down his hand and dripped to the floor, when he lifted his head he saw the boy sniffing the air, his eyes glowing red.

Jack realized the mistake he and Maddie made at that campsite.

Tentatively he walked closer to the baby vampire in a high chair and let his blood drip into the boys mouth.

After that he seemed happy and livelier. Jack talked with Maddie about the baby. The boy hadn’t shown any aggression while with them, he seemed harmless so far; so they decided to take him in and continue to take care of him.

After all, they did kill his family, it was the least they could do to accept him into theirs.

They named him Daniel, Danny for short.

They raised the little vampire as if he was their own, but hid his monstrous nature from everyone, including himself.

They infused his human food with blood, so he wouldn’t know what he was really getting his nourishment from.

He grew up believing he was human. Until he turned fourteen, then everything went downhill.

Prompt #83 “Deaf and Blind”

The Fentons captured Phantom.

When they brought it to the lab, they waisted no time starting their experiments. The first of which had the result of injuring the ghost on such a deep level.

It was put in a ghost proof glass box, there were speakers and lights imbedded in the floor.

The test involved seeing how it would respond to a specific kind of light and a specific sound frequency that were both known to deter ghosts.

Once they turned it on, all Danny could hear was a loud droning screech and all he could see was white. He clutched his ears with his hands and closed his eyes as tight as he could.

It did nothing to stop the pain assaulting his senses.

It felt like whatever was hurting him had stopped, his vision was dark and all he could hear was a quiet ringing.

His throat felt sore, so he had probably been screaming; his legs were shaking, so he let them collapse and he fell to the floor in a heap; he felt that his core was strained, so he let himself revert to human form.

The Fenton parents were horrified when the ghost revealed itself to be their son, devastated by what they had just done to him.

He slowly realized that he couldn’t hear or see anything, that he was bleeding from his ears.

His parents had deafened and blinded him.

Maddie rushed over to him to try and comfort him. At first he thought she was Jazz come to rescue him, but she guided his hand to feel her short hair and goggles around her neck.

He cowered back into the corner of the box, frantically begging for them to stop, even though he couldn’t hear his own voice.

She tries to tell him that they won’t hurt him anymore by hugging him and and rubbing his back and kissing his forehead.

Prompt #60 “Pariah’s child”

Danny is the biological son of the high king of the ghost zone, Pariah Dark, and is thus half-ghost and as well as the ghost prince.

Though, while Danny himself doesn’t know, Maddie does. Why wouldn’t she? She’s the one that carried and gave birth to him. Jack knows, Maddie told him as soon as it happened, and despite the boy being not of his blood and instead half of one of those monsters, he still loved and raised his wife’s son as his own.

Unfortunately Pariah knows this as well, and after he was released from the sarcophagus again, his first thought was to find his child and bring them home with him.

Prompt #46

When Danny went into the portal, nothing came out, no ghost, no traumatized but still partially alive kid walked out. His fried corpse left slowly rotting in the unseen inside of the portal, somewhat preserved by the high levels of ectoplasm circulating through.

Months later, Maddie deactivated the portal to inspect the inside for any flaws that might cause the machine to malfunction.

She let out a blood-curdling scream when she found the ashen dead body of her previously missing son. His eye sockets were hollowed out pits of blackness, his skin was grey and crusty, his veins were black, she could see the shape of his skeleton under his skin. It was horrifying, but it was undeniably him.

She jumped back and out of the portal frame, collapsing into sobs as she realized where her son had been all this time and what had happened to him.

Danny awoke face up in the darkness of the portal, the only sounds he could hear were the wiring of various machines and a woman crying. He weakly lifted his hand to feel his face, it was dry and missing some bits. He tried to stand but immediately collapsed onto his hand and knees, so he started crawling towards the exit.

When he saw his mother heaving sobs a couple yards away from him, he tried to get her attention, his attempt at saying ‘mom’ come out more as a groan or moan, curtesy of his decayed vocal cords and stiff half-rotted lips.

You always see fics where his parents find his body in the back of the portal and connect the dots to realize Phantom’s Danny, but have you ever seen a fic where there is no ghost, only the body, but that body is still Danny?

Prompt #34

Little three year old Danny Fenton died when he accidentally zapped himself with a live wire. The parents were devastated, and tried all that they could to bring him back, and they succeeded!

In a week they managed to resurrect their baby by making him half-ghost.

But ever since then he would have random and unpredictable fits of aggression and violence. Sometimes they would be mere days apart, other times they would be several months apart.

So unfortunately they had to keep him under control. To do that they put a padded shackle that he couldn’t phase out of around his ankle, chained to the wall with a rubber coated, lightweight, double-reinforced, long chain.

His new room was a little corner of the lab sectioned off by a semicircle of glass with toggle-able fogginess. You might have thought that it was plain and sterile like the rest of the lab, and you’d be wrong, it was pretty cozy. The space was bigger than his old room, and the ceiling was twice as high. He had a desk and chair, three bird nest-like hammocks(one of which was more like a hidy-hole), his old bed, a couch and tv with a wii console, a mini-fridge for juice and water, a shelf for snacks, little model spaceships hanging from the ceiling, and monkey bars. The hammocks and monkey bars were attached to the wall, though that wasn’t a problem for him since he could fly. The wall was painted with a mural of the night sky and there were NASA posters plastered everywhere.

Even with the parents busy schedules they took the time to homeschool him, and encouraged his love of astronomy.

The Fentons hired a whole team devoted to his wellbeing, a doctor, a therapist, a tutor for when neither of them had the time, a lawyer, and even a specific CPS agent came to visit him every once in a while to bring him his favorite tea.

The FentonWorks lab was heavily secured, with voice activated and handprint required entry, so many firewalls that the place was harder to hack into than the Pentagon.

Fortunately for Sam, her best friend has had plenty of experience hacking into the Pentagon. So she brought him along to break her in when she heard that there was human experimentation going on in FentonWorks.

What she didn’t expect to see was a healthy looking(if a bit pale) boy, lounging on a couch playing video games on a large tv while snacking on a bag of Doritos at three AM.

A boy that would soon be let outside the lab for the first time in eleven years to attend high school.

Man, I really like making Danny grow up thinking that being the product of your parents lab experiment is normal.

Idea #39

The Fentons were a family of merciless mer hunters.

But when Jack Fenton found a barely-a-year-old, white haired, black scaled, green eyed guppy washed up on their private beach, he couldn’t just leave the little guy to probably get eaten alive by seagulls. He’d always had a soft spot for kids.

He somehow convinced Maddie to let him keep it, as long as he was responsible for it. Jack had to feed it, clean it and it’s tank, train it, make sure it didn’t try to eat people, entertain it, the normal things you have to do to take care of a pet. Sure Maddie was the one that made sure it was fed most of the time since Jack forgot, but he did all the other things! He even gave him a name, Danny.

They actually got to learn a lot about merfolk biology taking care of him.

Over time the pair of scientists grew more and more attached to the little baby mer in their lab. He was practically a son to them. He was so sweet and cute, who wouldn’t love him instantly!

They taught him how to talk(he had such an adorable voice!), they taught him about the outside world(his eyes always sparkled with curiosity and wonder when listening to their stories).

When an old mer hunting friend came over to visit, he told them to be careful, that the creature could be using its siren powers to make them love it. They assured him that Danny’s powers(if he had any) were disabled by the small and unobtrusive cuff around his wrist.

They arranged for a little boy Danny’s age to come for a playdate, since he always seemed so lonely by himself in his artificial habitat. That young boy was named Tucker Foley, and the two hit it off instantly. Playing in the shallow area of Danny’s ‘exhibit’ with beach balls and plastic boats.

More time passed and Danny grew, his aquarium growing along with him.

Sometimes other hunter and scientist friends of the Fentons would come see the lab, and they would see a teenage merman in a comfortable environment and not on an examination table.

The parents wanted to see their boy free and happy, so they released him into the ocean. It wasn’t until later that they realized they never prepared him for the outside world, they never taught him how to hunt for himself, to avoid fishing nets, he might get seriously hurt or even die out there because they were ‘so eager to get rid of him’.

One of their worst fears were confirmed when they found him washed up on their beach bleeding from his tail, abdomen, and arm, unconscious.

Mer au combined with “Danny has always been lab rat” au, and wholesome up until the plot.

“I also just want Jack to invent a ghost(mer) treat and make Danny do tricks for it.” -that applies to this as well. Also I had the idea for that when eating a soft peppermint for the first time in forever.

Prompt #85 “I saved you”

Maddie had been trapped in a labyrinth chock full of booby-traps along with Phantom, though it’s powers had been temporarily blocked by the new Fenton invention she brought with her.

They brokered a truce, only to last until they made it out of the maze.

Maddie accidentally triggered one of the traps, which set off an explosion. Phantom noticed what was happening before she did, and jumped in front of her to hopefully protect her from the blast.

When Phantom jumped on top of her she thought it was attacking her, so she shot it in the chest with her ecto-gun.

It fell over backwards and turned onto it’s side to be in fetal position, showing to her that it had a large chunk of wood skewered in it’s back and was quickly bleeding out.

“I saved you” it whispered, right before going still.

Prompt #90 “Still Alive”

The GIW catch Phantom, but they don’t bring him to any lab to be experimented on, they drag him into the woods and torture him there on the grass.

They beat him up, kicking him, stabbing him. They slice open his abdomen enough so his internal organs spill out onto the ground.

Then they leave and he lays there, still, for hours.

When the search party looking for Danny Fenton finds him, they see a small black haired boy, unmoving, with insects crawling in and out of every opening, feasting on his flesh.

Maddie has to look away immediately, someone else who is able to take the sight has to confirm if it’s him.

After transporting the body to the morgue and getting rid of every bug they could reach, the mortician examines the body.

Only to find that, through it all, the boy is still alive.

Prompt #76 “I want to leave, please don’t make me leave”

Danny was tired.

Tired of fighting ghosts, tired of having to keep his identity a secret, tired of running for his life from ghost hunters, tired of lying to his parents every time he comes home with another injury he can’t explain.

He just wanted to end it all.

The next time he was out for his nightly patrol, his father was also out hunting.

The last time he encountered his dad as Phantom was the week prior, when Danny was fighting Technus and got thrown into another building in the middle of construction. That building collapsed with Maddie and Jack right under it. The two narrowly escaped, but Jack’s arm got smashed under one of the metal beams, it had to be amputated and replaced with a prosthetic.

During that same fight Maddie’s head got hit by a stray ectoblast and it seared off half of her face.

When Jack found Phantom while hunting, no way was he about to pass up the opportunity to beat the ghost boy bloody.

He snatched the vile creature out of the air and pounded it into the pavement with his bare hands(well, bare hand and metal skeleton of a robotic hand), breaking both it’s legs, clawing out one of it’s eyes, stomping on it’s chest until he felt the crunch of ghostly ribs breaking underneath his foot, and nearly completely severing it’s right arm just below it’s elbow, with only a few tissues of green flesh keeping it connected.

And Danny let him.

He held on to his ghost form for as long as he could, but transformed back to human after Jack had started to walk away.

Danny reached towards his dad, asking him to just finish him off, to end it. When Jack froze in place and turned around slowly, Danny started asking him to at least stay there, to not leave him to die alone.

Jack panicked, running over to his son whom he had just maimed and held him in his arm gently.

They exchanged heartbroken apologies as Danny got weaker, his words becoming harder to articulate.

But then he started to beak down sobbing pleading to his father to not make him go, that he didn’t want to leave anymore, he wanted to stay.

All Jack could do was try to comfort his dying son as he passed away in his father’s arms.

I’ve only seen Jacks enormous size and his (probably)incredible strength being used to crush Danny referenced in fics once or twice, but I need more.

Prompt #88 “Free”

The Fentons have finally managed to catch Phantom.

Danny has now survived weeks of horrible experiments and torture at the hands of his own parents.

One night after Jack went to bed and Maddie was still down in the lab running tests on samples, she hears sobbing coming from Phantom’s cell and walks over to investigate. She finds the ghost crying about how it just wants to go home, how it’s scared, how it just wants to see it’s mom and dad again.

Maddie can’t help but imagine her son in place of this specter in a cage: Danny kidnapped by some unknown people, alone and scared and hurt, pleading to go home. Out of guilt she lets Phantom free and it almost immediately zooms into the portal, free once again.

Upon entering the Ghost Zone, Danny decides to, instead of taking refuge somewhere to recover, go back through the portal, change back to human, and hug his mom.

Maddie realizes the mistakes she made and hugs him back.

Danny tells her he feels cold, and that it hurts. The next second he collapses to the floor and there is a growing red spot on his white shirt where is stomach is.

Daniel Fenton dies due to his internal injuries moments later.

Prompt #82 “I can still come back”

The Fentons found out that a ghost was possessing their son.

They bring him to the lab and force him through the newly improved Fenton Ghost Catcher to separate the evil specter from Danny.

When he passed through they quickly locked up the ghost in a containment unit then went over to tend to their son.

But he wasn’t moving, his eyes were closed and his chest lay still. He wasn’t breathing. Maddie rushed to check his heartbeat, putting her ear to his chest.

But she couldn’t hear anything.

They were too late. He was gone.

Filled with grief, they decided the best thing to do was to lay him to rest. The Fentons had a giant furnace in the lab that they could cremate him in.

The ghost was horrified, it begged them not to do this, it told them that he could still come back, he could merge back as long as his body was still intact, that he wasn’t really dead.

It sobbed and pleaded and screamed for them not to burn him, to at least just bury his body whole. It called them ‘mom’ and ‘dad’.

They didn’t listen.

Prompt #61 “Brainwashed”

The Fentons finally catch the elusive Phantom. Despite what everyone expects, they don’t dissect him.

Instead they plan to wipe his current Obsession and memories clean, free up space in his head so they can train him to be loyal to them and fight the other ghosts coming to Amity.

They succeed, and when Jazz goes down to the lab while her parents are out searching for her little brother, she finds that she came to rescue him too late.

He had already forgotten who she was.

Prompt #84 “Flower smoke”

The Fentons start burning blood blossoms and filling the house with the smoke for ghost proofing purposes overnight.

It was supposed to be harmless to humans.

Jack goes to wake Danny up for school the next morning and finds the body of his son tangled in a blanket on the floor next to the bed.

The body’s skin is a dark sickly purple and covered in red welts and blisters, it’s eyes glassy gray instead of the vibrant blue they were supposed to be.

Prompt #66

Both of the Fenton parents find out their son’s secret, separately, without anyone else knowing. But they have to keep up the act for each other, playing along like the ghost boy they’re trying to catch and vivisect isn’t their son.

They try their best to do their worst job at ghost hunting, but unfortunately their worst just isn’t bad enough.

They accidentally end up actually capturing Danny, bringing him to the lab and strapping him to the examination table and gagging him so he can’t say a word.

Maddie belts his head down with a pillow underneath “so it can’t injure itself and disrupt the operation.” She secretly combs her fingers through her baby’s hair.

Jack blindfolds him “so it can’t see where we are.” He subtly and gently squeezes his sons hand.

Danny notices that they’re both trying to comfort him, while making up an excuse to reassure the other. That all of this is unnecessary.

They are done with his abdominal cavity and well into digging around inside his exposed rib cage when he manages to get the gag off. Thankfully he tells them that they can stop pretending for each other before they cut into his heart trying to get to his core(because that’s where their readings and scans said that his core would be).

They were about to kill their son to keep up the act for each other.

Prompt #86 “Global warming”

The world is heating up, and experts say it shows no signs of cooling down. People in the US, Mexico, and Central America are moving north, but Canada has started guarding their border. People have nowhere left to go.

But the Fentons have a plan: they’ve built a machine made to harness the power of a ghosts core for as long as it’s running.

Now they just need to find a high power level ice core ghost.

Their primary target is Phantom, y’know, the self-sacrificial idiot.
