allow me to rant about the only thing that has been in my brain for the past two months and that is doll customizing babeyyyyy

i know there’s a 90% chance that you wont give a Shit about any of this but here we go anyways

SO first you gotta choose a doll. preferably one with a high range of motion to avoid creating new joints or having annoying limitations like not having elbow joints for some fucking reason. what the fuck mattel. give monster high dolls back their ball jointed shoulders and elbow joints. smh

the most common dolls ive seen used as bases are monster high and ever after high. most customs ive seen are highly stylized so the stylized face molds work well for those types of dolls but dolls like barbies are good for when you want a more realistic face-ups.

once you’ve got your base picked out you gotta wipe that bitch’s face off with like. acetone or nail polish remover or something strong like that. you can also use acetone to shrink doll heads which is cool as hell imo. n e way once the face is wiped you gotta chop off the hair and remove the hair plugs from the inside. ive seen this done several ways but the easiest and most common way ive seen is to dunk the head into boiling water for ~30 seconds until it gets squishy and malleable. once you’ve got the head back, you can use pliers (i think tweezers would work in a pinch) to pull out the hair plugs which are kinda icky because theyre covered in glue and other gross shit. ew

now you must decapitate the doll. dunk em back in the boiling water to soften them back up then just tug the head off. the neck pegs look funky and are usually a different color than the body so thats cool ig

once the head’s off, you can start the face-up which is basically just giving the doll a new face using stuff like watercolor pencils, acrylic paint, gouache, and a whole lot of other stuff. hell ive seen people use person makeup on these dolls.

next,,,,, hair. there’s about twenty million ways to do hair from gluing yarn wefts to sewing to rerooting with purchased nylon doll hair or yarn wefts but i’m gonna talk about the most common one ive seen which is rerooting and gluing.

before you can reroot, you need doll hair. which, as i mentioned, can be bought at stores like the doll planet or made at home with yarn in literally any color. have fun with it! make rainbow hair or something idk

to make homemade wefts, you take some acrylic yarn, cut it twice as long as you want the hair to be (keep in mind you can cut and style the hair once it’s been rerooted), fold them in half, and tie it to something sturdy like a wire coat hanger for the next step.

once you’ve got your yarn tied to your hanger, use a pet brush and brush the yarn until it’s wispy and looks like hair. then take a straightening iron and iron the weft flat. then remove from the hanger and boom. hair wefts. ta-da

to reroot the wefts onto the head, use a rerooting tool (which can be as simple as a needle with the eye cut at angle) (just google it please i’m shit at descriptions)) to poke small sections of the hair into the head. you can use the pre-existing rooting holes for your own reroot as they’re usually pretty reliable. to reroot, take a small length of you doll hair (about 10-15 strands), loop it in half, and put the middle of the loop into the reroot tool. poke the end of the tool with the hair on it into the pre-existing hole and remove the tool. the hair *should* stay in and fill up that plug!! also remember to plug thickly at the hairline and part of the hair where it's most noticeable. it doesnt matter as much in the center of the head as that’s not usually visible on the doll. once you’ve rerooted, squeeze in strong glue through the neck hole and squish around the head to make sure it covers all the plugs and secures them in place. then pour hot water onto the head to make the hair lay flat for styling later.

also, you can reroot yarn directly into the head to make thicker, more textured hairstyles. and since the yarn is thicker, you dont need to glue the inside of the head for the hair to stay in place!!

if youre not doing body modifications (which are also cool as hell) then it’s time for clothes but clothes are boring and i like body mods more so i’m gonna rant about them instead

the material ive seen most doll artists use is apoxie sculpt, which is like play doh on steroids. it comes in two parts which you gotta mix together for some reason. why dont they sell it pre-mixed. what was the reason. also once it’s dry it’s super super strong and you can sand it, drill into it, paint it, and all kinds of stuff. very nice and i want some for myself.

you can use hand saws and drills and shit to whack off doll limbs to make stuff like digitigrade legs or new joints. also dont be afraid to use other mismatching doll parts when customizing like heads and bodies and forearms and hands and shit. it literally does not matter if youre gonna recolor the doll anyways so have fun with it. make frankenstein’s doll if youre feeling spicy

accessories my beloved. stuff like tiny beads and clay baubles and shit will literally transform the entire doll plus they’re adorable and multi-purpose

i suppose i must talk about clothes now. ah well. you can find great clothing patterns if youre new to customizing on other customizer’s etsy shops and probably google although those will probably be lower quality than paid pattern pieces. and keep in mind that if it exists as clothing irl, you can likely make it doll-sized. there are literally no limits to your clothing options as long as you can execute your idea.

the once all your components have been made, you can assemble the doll again!! and finally see what all the parts look like together!! very cool 10/10 stars.

little did you know that dolls have been one of my favorite things since like ever. if i can read a 25 chapter long fanfic i can read this B)

mattel definitely fucked up by completely ruining MH doll designs and just stopping EAH, alot of their profits most likely came from people who collect and customize dolls and by changing MH doll designs/Stopping EAH dolls they 1. most likely lost a small (or big if we're not jus talking people who customize dolls) part of their profit and 2. made it harder for doll customizers to make dolls/get commissions out rather quickly because they probably have to waste more time making joints or learning how to make joints.

EAH/MH dolls (specifically MH dolls) had AMAZING MODELS because there was so much variety with height, face shapes, etc (my favorite molds had to be the short/tall dolls and the cat molds because of the tails) and doll customizers really went all out with enhancing a molds unique features. The only "downside" abt MH dolls is that they (or atleast most)(from what i remember)) had slimmer faces but wider eyes while EAH dolls have wider faces with slimmer smaller which left a canvas for the face and not the eyes (and vice versa for MH dolls)

I've never seen any videos where a barbie is customized (maybe because i absolutely despised barbies at the time) so I'll definitely have to check those out but they seem to be good for realistic makeovers. I've seen like like semi realistic makeovers for EAH/MH dolls that were pretty good too tho (pretty sure mostly EAH dolls since yk MH dolls were used for creature makeovers while most EAH dolls weren't)

yeah i was always amazed by the head shrinking with acetone. honestly i still am?? idunno i have no idea how that chemical bullshit works. Ive seen a few of uh makeovers that just pain over the face (in multiple layers ofcourse) but that's usually when they're painting the entire body a different colour (again usually when they're turning a doll into a funky little baby man). I've also seen a few that just chop the hair off and take out the hair plugs yk without uuh like softening the head or just go straight for the hair plugs after taking off the head (i used to do that it was funny to me??). i always really liked when they used watercolour pencils or just colour pencils in general to draw/sketch on the face cause like wow ur drawing on ur doll without ruining it?? kinda epic maybe even poggers and pogchamp?? oh god my brain is failing wjshsmsj.

Watching them putting the hair back on the doll was, other than the face stuff, was the BEST part for me. Favorite type of hair was iuuuuuh was either thick yarn or brushed out yarn. Literally worship the people that would reroot the hair, theyre the most patience people on this earth!! it's literally insane but i guess that's what happens when you've been doing that for years? you guess kinda get used to it. when they put glue into the head does it just become stiff?? like it's just a clump of dried glue or does it like..hollow out again??

dude you literally cannot convince me most of the supplies used for doll makeovers. APOXIE CLAY LOOKS SO FECKING GOOD. its edible and i will die on that hill. The body mods are literally so amazing!!!!! it's so impressive how theyre able to imagine certain features THEN LIKE ACTUALLY MAKE IT LOOK ACCURATE TO WHAT THEY WANTED TO LOOK LIKE AFTER LIKE ON TRY (or many yk trial and error is very necessary for..everything). Absolutely loved when doll customizers would saw off a dolls legs and use different ones or just completely get rid of the torso to use a different one. it's like uuh that one big guy that's mismatched and sewn together. very cool. The accessories are so fun!! just small little details you seen really need but can add because it's your feckin doll!! I used to be absolutely obsessed over the doll clothes i would find on etsy, so much so that i started sewing shitty shirts and dresses for my uh "customized" dolls (they were absolute HORRORS idk WHY my mom let me feck up my dolls like that).

Am I the only one who hates when human couples are referred to as "mates"???? Idk man it shouldn't because we're just animals, but it's weird. ANYWAY, I don't have like, a concrete vision of a partner, but I do have some set-in-stone personality/moral alignments that are musts, such as just being a generally good person, empathetic, you must love animals or shoo, be in touch with their emotions, understanding, soft stuff like that. I also have a strong preference for having a good sense of humor, I lean more romantically towards outgoing people, you gotta be laid-back and approachable... that kind of stuff. Physically, I really, really don't care, but I think we all have preferences; ex., while it really doesn't matter to me ultimately, I tend to find longer hair on guys more attractive than short. Your thoughts on bacon? Ugh, I wish I didn't love it. I wanna be a vegetarian again so badly. What are your thoughts on little kids with cell phones? If they're of an age where they may be separated from their parents semi-regularly and without the constant presence of a guardian, I'm actually for them having *simple* cellphones. Emergencies exist, and even I, someone who doesn't even want kids, would be scared knowing my child is without an easy, quick method of contact with me. Now, remember I did say "simple" cellphones; I don't believe a little kid should grow up unhealthily attached to technology (like me lmao), so especially in developmental years, I wouldn't want my kid to be glued to their phone playing games or roaming the Internet too freely. What was the last lie you told? I'm not sure. Is there anyone in particular you always try to tune out? Ugh, yes. For political bullshit that I cannot stand hearing. Do you work out? No. What was the last thing you ate with a spoon?  Uhhhh probably oatmeal. What is a food that you always are in the mood to eat? Ice cream lmao. Ever held a newborn animal? Yeah. 100 days to acnh challenge - 1 to 74

found this challenge and decided it would be a great way to pass the time until the release date, and a good way to get people to know me a lil better too c’: i feel so powerful starting at this point, there are so few days left to wait! 

1. Do you prefer making up a new name for your villager, or using your own name? i never, ever used my own name... i always felt like this would be boring, and i kinda want to give myself the opportunity to create a new “character” based on the events that happen to them in the game... (my first character in wild world was named Scarlet :^)) 2. Do you use the first map you’re given, or do you reset for layouts? i am bige resetter with bige plans all jokes aside i am way too indecisive and spent way too much time on this, i would even check people’s dream towns prior to resetting to gather ideas and fresh input on this. though usually, each time i remade my town i had a specific kind of map in mind? most of all, i like having a secluded nice little corner to put my house (being able to move your house in nh is a game changer honestly!) grass type and colors of buildings also matter. residents not so much because, hey, i can also reset for that later! (i am terrible) 3. Do you use the face you’re given, or do you wait for guides and choose your favourite? similarly, i use a guide. i think the only times i didn’t was my first times in wild world where i didn’t really have access to a fast internet connection :’^) (guess what i am also indecisive about this! my most used are the classic arched villager eyes, the almond shaped ones and the shiny anime ones THEY ARE TOO CUTE) 4. Favourite town/island name?/Have you a name picked out for your town/island? I WON’T SAY YET... i have multiple options for now and idk what to do... but my nl town is named Suzuran, and i really like this name :] 5. Will you be sharing with friends/family, or is your island going to be all your own? probably gonna be my own! my mother used to have a character in my wild world town though :) 6. What’s a new feature you’re excited about? ALL but mostly the terraforming/switching everything up options!! for...reasons mentioned above... also the weeds. i never really got to dupe clovers or stuff like that so i am very pumped 7. Favourite fruit? buttfruit peaches probably... i also love perfect oranges and perfect pears because they’re like golden... i like gold like perfect fruits in general hehe i also love the new fruits in new leaf! 8. Least favourite fruit? apples are a bit tacky to me but i still love them i am sad i cannot really make a lot of fruit trees work in my minimally colored nl towns... some people do it so well though and i am TRYING 9.  Favourite area? (Beach, campground, shopping district etc, from any entry in the series.) THIS IS HARD I DON’T HAVE A LOT OF MEMORIES i have fond memories of the beach in wild world just because of some people’s really pretty hacked towns. like they added a whole “manor” (big player house) in front of it and that was the bomb. i also loved the cliffs in city folk and am so glad they are back... 10. Where do you like to like to put your house? Do you like that level of customization, or do you prefer to have some things decided, like in older entries? as i said i like secluded, remote areas for the house, and i also loved to put it near the cliff in city folk! (you better be fully awake if you step out)  the beach is a neat option too. but in nl my favorite was next to a waterfall! 11.  Favourite grass pattern? triangles! when i was a kid it was my least fav and i always avoided it though... then i visited a friend’s cf town and was like “wait this is MORE LIKE REAL GRASS” and i had an awakening...  12. Least favourite grass pattern? circles are a bit... odd for grass i think 13. Favourite villager/s? purrl was my absolute queen when i played wild world and still is. i love cats in general... and deer. and coco. coco is so my aesthetic and goals for a town feeling if you know what i mean, i adore her. doyoing 14. Least favourite villager/s? i am basic and like cute things so the least cute and mostly most tacky, bright colored ones... i am sorry...i still care about all your villagers 15. Did you like doing Tom Nook’s chores, or did you find those to be a pain? generally speaking i like them when i first play the game because they are immersive and kinda introduce you to the main concepts of the game? (the city in city folk, being mayor in nl etc) but with side characters and resetting they get a bit repetitive and frustrating upping your reputation to be able to work as a mayor in nl also is a pain 16. Favourite NPC/s? label is my queen and wife. i love her sisters too, and tom nook... BLANCA too i adored her when i played wild world and couldn’t get to see her in my town and was so hyped for her nl event laughs, and joan and daisy mae... i’m probably forgetting some faves I LOVE EVERYONE wait KAPPN has cute dialogue too!  17. Least favourite NPC/s? is there one? i don’t know? i’m gonna go check a list of npcs now ... i am back and honestly I DON’T KNOW 18. Do you use paths? Are you excited about the new path tool? i don’t use paths in my town because they are a mess to set up and i love the natural look anyway, but some people do it so well! i love the ones with natural colors and the little details.  the new path tool looks so convenient, but i don’t know if i like the textures! i’ll probably use it sparsely because i also wanna keep that wild look to my town 19. Favourite feature from an older entry?  the lights on the villagers’ houses in wild world is what came to mind first, hahah 20. What was your first Animal Crossing game? WILD WORLD!! i played it so much and for so long 21. Favourite activity (fishing, bug catching, fossil hunting, other)? bug catching (ca-ching) is my fave out of this list, i also love visiting dream towns and playing with friends in general! 22. Least favourite activity? diving is so slow... 23. Favourite bug? the huge butterflies you see in summer (i was AMAZED when i first saw them), the fireflies (SAME, the first time i saw some was in someone else’s town in city folk as we crossed a bridge and it was just magical, laughs), and the big shiny beetles... it’s not just for the monies, i promise 24. Least favourite bug? either the small butterflies that you see everywhere when you’re trying to catch something neat for the bug-off, or the tarentulas/scorpios because i NEVER MANAGED TO CATCH THEM 25. A quarter of the way there! How’s the wait? actually there’s barely a month remaining as we speak, so pretty fine! i still have to pick my character and town names, and to be honest i am mostly worried i’ll start procrastinating like crazy once the game is out. coughs. at least i’ll draw ac characters? 26.  Favourite fish? i love coelacanths because i am a big nerd, also the sharks and the cute colorful fishes 27.  Least favourite fish? just all the most common ones probably? sea bass isn’t the only one... 28.  Favourite fossil?  what are these questions. uh, i loved putting the small squares ones in my room in wild world...especially ammonites 29.  Least favourite fossil? the ones that bring less cash money? i only care about fossils when they’re displayed in the museum tbh. and there i just love them all 30. Favourite furniture series? the ranch series looked way better in wild world and i am mourning now i love alpine, rococo and modern wood the most! the green one looks cool recolored too! i like combining different series the most, too 31. Least favourite furniture series? anything bright and tacky (except maybe the lovely that’s still fairly cute?)  32. Favourite soundtrack? (Gamecube, DS/Wii, etc) i can’t remember but i get huge pangs of nostalgia if i listen to the wild world/city folk one 33. Least favourite soundtrack? i DON’T KNOW... maybe nl was a bit less whismical? 34. Favourite wallpaper? alpine, chic, exquisite, classic, [...] anything that looks warm and natural and makes for a comfortable house!  35. Do you have a nice memory of the games/community etc you’d like to share? when i was a young teen, i idolized someone in the wild world community because her town was honestly incredibly pretty? so much thought has been put into it and it was just a dream. it made me want to invest more time and planning into my own towns and that’s how i got really, really hooked on the game, i think 36. Least favourite wallpaper? anything really colorful and tacky again... 37.  Favourite carpet? the wood ones, mostly! 39. Favourite furniture item? i love the oven thing from pocket camp... and the rocking chair... and the fireplace... 40. Will you be buying a Switch for Animal Crossing, or do you already have one? i have preordered the animal crossing one... i live for this (i am so glad i waited though honestly) 41. Least favourite furniture item? the huge tacky things or things that just look odd in a house perhaps... wait but i still like to see them and some people use them so well. why would i hate on furniture i wonder 42. Favourite flower? jacob’s ladders and white flowers in general. i adore the look of the ones in nh, holy sh- 43. Least favourite flower? pretty much anything that’s yellow. just never goes with my town plans... the roses especially are so bright i’m 44. Favourite hybrid? i miss the colors of the ones in ww/cf so much... so so much but in general i like anything that’s purple, black or blue i think :> 45. Least favourite hybrid? hmmmm the orange ones from new leaf i think? in the previous games they were so rich and warm though... 46. Favourite shirt? the canary shirt, maybe? though i mostly use qr codes, ahaha some of these outfits are still super cute... 47. Favourite dress? anything pocket camp tends to be good, also this one forever in my heart. i adore the flowery sleeveless dresses too! 48. Favourite accessory? bandages, heart shades, leaf, and tortoise specs! 49. Favourite hat/helmet? celeste’s ribbon, hibiscus hairpin, and that tiny straw hat 51. Favourite shop? i always adored able sisters, and leif’s little gardening shack :> 52. Do you collect amiibo cards/figures? Would you like to see them used in the new game? we know they are compatible now, but i don’t have any! maybe i should buy some? 53. Fishing Tourney or Bug-Off? bug-off is quicker and funnier >:] also i remember i ALWAYS WON in cf while playing with friends... fight me... 54. Do you like making your own clothing patterns? there are so many nice ones already that my slots are always full, so i don’t bother... i remember making a two-toned shirt that i wanted irl when i got new leaf, but that’s pretty much all 55. Least favourite villager personality? the jocks are boring to me and they tend to have my least fav designs. when i like one i keep them though because it is so rare...wheeps 63. Do you “plot reset” for villager house placement, or do you let them move in wherever they want? i only really started doing that with the welcome amiibo update that apparently makes it easier, else i just waited for the annoying ones to move... (and time travelled a lot) 64. Are you excited to wear any of the new accessories (like the bags etc shown in the E3 trailer)? i will COLLECT THOSE and COLOR COORDINATE 65. What season are you most looking forward to seeing in New Horizons? 66. What’s your favourite season? i think summer, i want to hear the cicadas and see the fireflies again, and i also want to see how the rain and wind look like! i remember seeing really pretty storms in nl during summer too ♥ 67. Do you prefer the “live” versions of K.K. Slider’s Songs, or the airchecks? i tend to prefer the airchecks but the concerts are Special, no matter if it’s with friends or alone 72. An NPC you’d like to see more of? mmmnnh blanca always. i love her spirit 73. An NPC you’d like to see less of? really unpopular opinion probably but i wouldn’t miss reese and cyrus too much if they aren’t as present in nh 74. Okay so I guess as a Ben 10 fan I’m required to rant about one of the series.

And since everyone has done Alien Force and Ultimate Alien (which both had their flaws, but I still loved things in them, especially the aliens we met), I’ll take on Omniverse.

Now now, don’t get the wrong idea! I don’t hate Omniverse.

I liked quite a bit of Omniverse, really and truly. 

For example, some of the things I did like:

Ben being more fun and being more of his own character, rather than being so bland.

Rook. I don’t think there was a single moment I didn’t like Rook?

Although I wasn’t originally a fan of him, I like Feedback. (Ahaha, Chromastone and Ghostfreak are still my favorites.)

Speaking of Ghostfreak, I LOVE how they finally gave the villain his own name! And it’s such a cool name! Zs’Skayr.

Continuing with Zs’Skayr, I loved him. So much. He’s such a good villain, honestly.

Kevin’s dog.

They kept Kevin’s car.

Skurd, he was funny, not gonna lie.

Background aliens and other aliens looked independent? And not COPY AND PASTED--lookin’ at you resurrection of people scene in The Secret of Chromastone. (Don’t even get me started on why I hate what they did with Diamondhead in Alien Force. ...like his name was pointless for that series specifically.... like they coulda just made Crystalsapiens have their backstory from Vilgax Attacks...)

However . . . there are some things I don’t like (obviously, Doll, that’s why you made this post):

The break up scene for Julie and Ben. I don’t even get why they had to break up? Like Ken couldn’t have existed UNLESS Kai was the mother? Why couldn’t have Julie been the mother? Someone who really liked him?I’m not even done here. Julie and Ben seemed to have been an amazing couple and had wonderful interactions, and Julie knows Ben. She would be able to tell if he was distracted by a video game. She isn’t an idiot. What pisses me off more is how much of an asshole she suddenly becomes? Like why? She was such a good character, and in my opinion the best love interest for Ben. (Edit: someone pointed some stuff out to me and made me realize there was good reason to keep them apart. I can’t say I now like Kai, because personally I just dislike her character, but I understand more as to why Julie was scratched off.)

The multiple ‘love interests’ he had. Like, I didn’t mind the episode where Looma, Attea, Nyancy Chan, and Ester fought over him, it was funny. But it honestly pisses me off beyond belief when people get genuinely triggered that Ben didn’t get with Looma or Attea, as they were a snack or something. Like . . . two of those relationships he was being forced into, one of which was a marriage he was tricked into. (Nyancy just liked him because of Rath and I’m assuming because she’s low key a furry. Jk jk) I won’t lie, I did like Ester. I didn’t think she had to become a love interest, but personally I really liked her. Especially because she wasn’t forcing Ben into the relationship.

Why was Petropia NEVER touched on again!? Like, we would’ve been able to see the Petrosapiens with DIVERSE designs!!!! Not to mention, they didn’t have the thrown in rock part of Petrosapien designs (where Diamondhead’s name made zero sense) in Omniverse, so that’d be gone. And like . . . more society depicted in Petropia?? Heck seein’ more of Sugilite???

The whole sudden multi-universe thing . . . I mean it was cool, but I just didn’t find it to be the greatest most interesting thing in the entire world.

This next part is just . . .  I have to make another bullet section for here. Because whooooo boy I have so much anger here. The ridiculous changes to some of the aliens. The aliens royally effed up design wise (some when Skurd changed them up.)

My boy, Chromastone. Like they did him good at first but then Skurd full on ruined him. Not to mention, Dee Bradely Baker had the perfect voice for him, 1v1 me. The VA they chose for Omniverse wasn’t bad, just . . . hard for me to not love the OG more.

Humungousaur, man, I don’t even know what it is but it’s just not right. I just . . . mh . . . I don’t like it. His head looks off, and his neck too . . .

XLR8, they made it look as though he had really thin bones? Also his helmet was way bigger than it needed to be. Also, voice issue. Not that Yuri Lowenthal did bad, no, I just really liked his original voice.

Rath, just . . . the SLIGHT change of his colors and his eye brows . . .  that wasn’t right, man.

everything, really. what inspires me? the colour of leaves in the fall, the snow sparkling on the ground in winter, the fog that doesn’t let you see further than a few meters before you, the chilling cold on the morning walks, the dark that’s brightened up only by the dim street lamps, the colour of the sky that isn’t really blue but tints into reds and pinks and oranges and purples

what gives me strength to write? the comments and tags on my fics, that’s the best reward after spending hours on creating something - to see that people love and appreciate your work, it’s awesome

Quirk and Abilities Body Size Transformation (Bodi Saizu Henkan / ボディサイズ変換 ): The ability to resize your body at any time, making one-self extremely small or large at will. Healing ( Hīringu / ヒーリング ): The ability to heal others by touching them with the palm of the hand. Healing is limited and only works in small spurts. --hand me down power from an relative. Strength Proportioning (Kyōdo Puro Po /  強度プロポ): Her strength is proportionate to whatever size her body is, i.e. she will not have super human strength if she is shrunken down to the size of a flea.

WE’RE STARTING WELL IT SEEMS. Do I really need to explain why the “strenght proportioning” isn’t a quirk? That shit’s normal. Did you know that a spider’s web is one of the most resistant materials? But why can a person break it easily? Because of our size too baby, boom. If you piut more strigns together, it’ll be more resistant. So sorry to break it to ya but that ain’t a quirk. 

Also why the fuck does she needs two quirks. She can already become gigantic and small at will, like, isn’t that enough?! A character doesn’t need to have two or more quirks to be strong, look at the characters in the show! All of them have their unique ways to be strong in their own way, even the characters that aren’t in class A in the first place! And what’s that, a relative gave their powers to her? Don’t you know that only All Might has this kind of quirk with the One For All, as Izuku stated it in one of the episodes, that we never heard about a quirk that could be passed to someone else? Work more.

Eventually, Amal gets sole custody--Elijah isn’t doingthe emotional work of parenting, and the kids aren’t happy when they’re withhim.

I also have sad headcanons about shit that went down ifyou read my fic but that’s not crucial to this family HC necessarily.

for awhile, Nursey and Farah stay in touch with Elijahfairly frequently, but he’s not big on Feelings, and they’re not big on beinggaslighted about the fact that he’s really emotionally distant and his momyells at them a lot, so as they get older they really only talk to him on theirbirthdays, Father’s Day, his birthday, and major holidays.

Amal really tries to get them to keep in touch moreoften, because she’s really close with her dad and she wants her kids to have arelationship with theirs, but like...she’s not gonna force it.

Love is Blind

A terrible reality show, really

But brought up a lot of things about love, relationships, and commitment that made me feel so lucky to have you.

Some topics:

1. Grand gestures of love

I think when you have a childish perception of love, you only think about the big things. You think about the grand gesture that PROVED their love, emulated their willingness to be creative, go the extra mile, etc. And while it’s the stereotypical image of a visible display of affection, I find myself cringing at a lot of the grand gestures on the show. Grand gestures are really nice, no doubt about it. But I’ll never forget how the little things that add up over the years just remain as the pillars to the foundation of the love. I remember the flowers and the moon card along with the color pencils. I remember the candlelit dinner on the rooftop of our AirBnB in Taiwan. I remember the (multiple) celebrations at Spanish restaurants where you eat soggy rice (paella) with me. I love them all. But those big moments only serve to highlight the little things that you do all. the. time. You always go the extra mile for me. You’ll always. Always. Go the extra mile. The color pencils and card and flowers were all just reiterated proof that you go the extra mile (A Powerwolf pillar btw). The grand gesture is just another version of it. The part I remember most about the candlelit dinner is how you paid attention to the two options we had: one by the city lights or one where we could hear our conversation better. You’re attentive to those details. You know those details and you remember what they mean to me. Your grand gesture shows you care, even to the tiniest detail. Your compassion for others shines through when you remember my stories and take me to places that create nostalgia for me (only me too! since you’ve never experienced Spain). And you live through those moments with me. To see me happy, to see me beam over things that don’t make you necessarily beam (wet rice and overpriced salads). You put others before yourself. 100% of the time. 

2. In-Laws

I think something that intimidates me about marriage and commitment is the terrible reputation society has for in-laws. They tell me on the Western side that it’s just you and your partner, the in-laws you can only see when necessary. The Eastern side tells me that you marry all of them. They’re there forever. They are a part of every decision of your life. And while I can tell myself I take on the Western mentality of thinking, I know myself well enough that I could never ever forsake a family member, not unless I truly believed they were a terrible human being. I extend my love to everyone the same way. What you love is something I extend my love to as well. What I appreciate from the show is the topic that in the end, it’s just you and your partner. The extended family is just an additional cherry on top. So if you have great, supportive extended family members, that’s great! If you don’t, you have each other. My mom told me this and I believe her 1000%: If you have to come to a decision that puts you in a place where you choose your family or your spouse, you choose your spouse. Because that’s who you married. Not your mom or your dad. Not their expectations of you. Your spouse, whom you’ve placed all of your trust and loyalty in (not blindly of course, especially if there’s the red flags lmao). But truly, it’s you and your spouse. When everyone else is gone, it’s you who lifts me up and whom I would give anything for. “Would you be willing to give up everything in your life for them?” That’s how you know you’re ready to take that step to marriage.

3. Communication

Of course, reality TV shows have the dumbest drama... but this show was cool in that it showed a “Reunion” episode where you actually saw many of the issues in the show reach their deneuoment. I actually really appreciate seeing how immature arguments and inadequate self-reflection led to horribly disagreements. I felt like I could see outside of myself. There’s one couple that were explosively passionate with their ups and downs. She described her self as “self-sabotaging” and DING DING DING! Guess who I related to? She concluded that you have to be okay with your flaws. You have to see them for what they are and accept them. If you don’t accept them, how can you expect someone to accept them? You’ll always be fighting them, even if your partner loves you unconditionally for them. You can’t base their acceptance of your flaws for your reasoning to quell those self-doubt momentarily. YOU need to accept them. 100%. And when your ideas of yourself and that of your partner’s aligns, you will be at peace with yourself. I’m actually glad that we’ve argued. And I’m glad that you always take my hand afterwards. I hold my breath most of the time, thinking: “This is it, what I’ve done is the thing that’ll push him over the edge, this is where it ends” and you are NEVER thinking those thoughts. You’re just feeling upset at the moment. You can be upset and that can be normal. It does not mean my actions that make you upset will lead to our downfall and pain and hurt. It’s just a normal feeling. Keeping you happy 100% of the time and banking that 1-5% of the time that I don’t make you happy on you deciding you’ve had enough of me is just my own image of my self-worth. I am worth more than my ability to make you happy 100% of the time. That will not be possible. And my acceptance of that will make me stronger, which will just lead me closer to how you have and always have viewed me. I will align with the way you see me. Each argument is another opportunity to test my strength. 

4. Financial Debt

One of the women on the show had 20k in credit card debt... And damn, that sounds like such a foreign concept to me. I know my family’s got debt. But I find that responsibility to have your immediate debt like credit cards is a no-brainer. School debt, mortgage debt, etc. can wait for longer of course, but no way in HELL will I ever let myself get to that point of irresponsibility. I spoke with mom and Travis about how I would rather skimp on wedding things than to go so far into debt just for one magical moment. I’d much rather live for much longer, stress free days with less financial worry than to have the wedding of my dreams. I could have that in my actual dreams, in paintings, in Photoshop, as a random party years later when I can afford it. But no way would I bank all my happiness on one day. What actually makes me feel so secure about that is the fact that you make me feel loved every day. Every day feels like it’s this partnership. The wedding day just ties our lives legally together hahaha. But before and after it, this is what we’ve got. It doesn’t and shouldn’t change (besides the growing and changing together). But I’m okay. I’m okay without the “magical” wedding. A dress, a legal person to marry us, a $20 white dress. If we can’t afford it, I’d rather we invest in our every day. I’d deal with the offended great cousins later. I just want you, me, and the legalization of the promises we already made when we decided to do this together. I enjoy a lot of the finer things in life. But I would give up everything to enjoy life with you for longer. (I’ve slept on bamboo mats on the ground and have taken dumps next to 10 cockroaches. I may have a terrible immune system and probably die without medical insurance lmao but. I think I can endure a lot.)

5. Consistency

One of the couples don’t get married because the girl was not consistent in her love. The guy loved her soooooooooo much. And he actually said no at the altar just because she showed commitment just that one day and he couldn’t be sure if he would be signing his future away to someone who would be hot and cold like that all the time. Thank freaking God that you are who you are. I never doubt you. I could never doubt who you are. From the day I called you “Steven” to today, you’ve grown and changed a lot. But who you are-- the type of loyalty, self-sacrifice, commitment, hard work, compassion-- you’ve never wavered. Even if you tried to fight it, even at your worst. You would never purposefully go against those values (maybe just be discouraged if you feel you lost those values). I believe in you. I believe you to be the person I’m going to be with until I grow old. 

The show hasn’t changed any of these feelings, by the way. I knew them, I just don’t think I’ve ever really written it out for you. I don’t feel especially different after watching this show, just inspired to write to you. I want you to feel loved. And I want to express the love I feel from you every day.

Austin, marriage may be far away (I know I said I’d be okay with just us two and a legal person to marry us but I don’t prefer it lmao), but man, I always look forward to it. Every day I just wake up excited because I have something I want to work for. I want to be self-assured, confident, successful, and I want to build the life I see for us together. 

I’m in the daydreaming sequence right now ahaha... I’m letting myself have it. Since I know I mention it like... every day. I don’t want it to not become special one day. But man-- formulating the plan to get there... That’s the next step. 

Every day is Day 1, I learned from Powerwolf. Building myself up to be a strong and more self-assured, confident person is my goal. I believe it’ll lead me to my success. It will lead me to the financial security. It will lead me to my dreams for you and me. It will lead me closer to what you’ve always wanted for me and what I’ve always felt was out of reach for myself: To see myself the way you see me.

No question at all, you’re the one for me. I’ll never give up on this task. I’m going to make our dreams come true.
