I guess the main one I have is that he can be submissive in bed with someone he trusts a lot (in many cases in my mind, phoenix). Like yes he has control issues esp bc he was so controlled growing up so I think it would take him some time to explore these things, HOWEVER I think being able to explore being this vulnerable with lack of control in a safe way, a safe environment where he's able to stop it when he wants to, is something that he would like.

I may be reading into it but like, there are posts going on about them being Asexual, and while I’m 100% for that if that’s your headcanon, I think it’s because of something else.

I hadn't realized I still had 16 days of vacation to take by the end of the year (they don't roll over, unfortunately) which means I had only taken barely four up until now, not counting some early Fridays we got this summer. No wonder I'm tired.

I'm gonna go hang out at the studio tomorrow and work on finishing up pots/pumpkins and making slip sample tiles. Maybe I'll take my little tripod and take some time lapse videos throwing stuff, I haven't done that in a few years. when people say "narcissist" i'm always like, "self-centered", "egotistical", "vain", "self-absorbed", et cetera are right there, and that's what you actually mean. use those. but using "narcissist" lets people pathologize and feel intellectual about things 🙄

i used to watch a youtuber who had spoken before about the demonization of various mental disorders, but then she used the phrase "narcissistic abuse" and i made a very polite comment, assuming the best, and was like "hey that's a really harmful phrase to use, especially when what you're describing has an actual correct term, emotional / psychological abuse, you wouldn't call something 'anxiety abuse' or 'autism abuse', would you?" and she then doubled down and said "well sometimes mental health professionals use it so it can't be ableist". as if no one in the history of psychiatry was ever ableist like?

ironic because she had also made multiple videos where she discussed people who used dated or incorrect language, were politely corrected by a fan, and then doubled down instead of examining themselves. and here she was doing the same thing :-/

Wow, that's very hypocritical of her. You can't call out ableist language and stigma, and then use a very ableist term. Worst part is, she didn't even apologize or recognize her mistake. Mental health professionals can be ableist, indeed.

I think that's what pisses me off the most about the stigma around NPD, even "progressive" people use narcissists as scapegoats. And very few mental health professionals DON'T demonize narcissists. Literally every time there's a discussion about abuse, people always bring up "narcissistic abuse". And it's like you said, they act like they're intellectual, "oh have you heard about narcissistic abuse?", and they pretend they know what they're talking about because they read it somewhere. And apparently everyone forgets that NPD, just like other Cluster B disorders, tend to develop due to childhood trauma.

I remember going to a partial hospitalization program, where they said "oh no judgment here, everyone is welcome". But then people were demonizing narcissists. I remember only ONE therapist there pointing out "hey you know NPD is a personality disorder and no one is evil for having it, right". But I'm pretty sure that was forgotten.

I may not have NPD, but I deeply sympathize with everyone who has it. We really need more people and spaces who treat NPD right, considering all the misinformation online (ESPECIALLY on TikTok).

yeah of course!! i honestly forgot to mention what kind of au it is in the post itself (i made the post and then got off tumblr for hours like i was trying to forget i even made it in the first place dlkgfjsdljg) but i'd be happy to provide more info on the au!

so the au is the separated au i've been working on for over a year (first chapter is posted on ao3 as sunset hues, jetpack blues) and i'm looking to add more characters into the fic to spice things up a little

the general premise is that splinter was only able to save raph and mikey, leaving leo and donnie (known in the fic as lee and dee) with draxum. the fic starts about where the series does, around the events of mystic mayhem, and after raph, mikey, and april destroy draxum's lab, lee and dee use this as a distraction to run away.

i intend the fic to follow lee and dee as they forge their new life away from draxum, and along the way they meet their brothers and splinter and april and end up becoming heroes. i'm going to loosely follow canon (a retelling, sort of, as a lot of sep aus tend to) but i don't want to follow canon 1-to-1. i want to add some new arcs, some new adventures, and change the existing things to match the change of circumstances

the foot clan are still planning on bringing back shredder, that's a given, and some things might still happen along the same lines as canon (especially stuff that happens off screen and some of the stuff with raph/mikey/april) but i hate when fics just rehash canon, so i'm trying to add some excitement

some characters i've already considered are:

tigerclaw (he's a bounty hunter here)

miyamoto usagi (he's an adult here, and he owns a dojo in the hidden city)

bebop and rocksteady (i'm thinking they're battle nexus competitors)

mona lisa (i'm going to make her a yokai, possibly late teens, early 20s, and tweak her name to be ramona, with "mona" as a nickname)

miwa (borrowing this name to create a snake yokai that's friends with mona lol)

i jokingly thought it would be funny to add in the frog mutants from tmnt 87 lol

but i've been really stuck on how to add any more characters, and which characters to even add. i don't want them to be big characters or very important, mostly just characters that the cast can interact with to fill the world, but i'm not a big fan of OCs so i figured adding (semi) recognizable tmnt characters would be a fun workaround lol

adding some more characters to make yokai would be fun i think, bc rise has this whole city full of them and we only ever get to meet a handful and it leaves soooo many possibilities

i hadn't really considered adding more antagonists before (barring tigerclaw, who i have Plans for) but it might make for some interesting plot threads to add more of them. rise has a fun mutant cast but most of them get reused a lot and

sorry if this doesn't really help much but thanks for asking!! i'm very excited for this fic and i wanna make it the best it can be. i wanna talk about this fic so much but also i dont wanna spoil everything before i get around to writing it so it's a fine balance between explaining enough to be useful and not explaining too much lol

honestly, any suggestions would be helpful. just giving a place to start would help. i don't mind doing some research but i don't have firsthand experience with characters outside of rise, mutant mayhem, and anyone in the first three-ish seasons of 87

So!! bathing/hygiene headcanons!! 🚿 this is a "me rambling endlessly" post, just as a warning !

I was in the shower earlier yes? as one does. and I was just thinking.... about like.... Artemis, yeah. But I was thinking about how, he probably doesn't have to shower or anything necessarily? Because he's not a living creature, and so, doesn't have to worry about like... everyday buildup of human-y dirtiness (idk how to phrase that but u kno).

But at the same time, especially if he's been really busy with shop cleaning/work, has had to fight/kill something/someone, or has been out and about on his 'business trips' or something etcetcetc-- like... he's gotta get dirty sometimes.. right? even with how careful he is not to, I dont think it would matter. He'd have to clean up sometime, somehow. And I suppose... like.... if he did, it would be infrequently, "bathing", whatever that entails for him (he again like... its just another one of those things he doesn't have to worry about doing often, as its not as if ?? he's gonna get stinky like a human would).

But anyway I was just thinking about bathing / cleaning headcanon for him ?? and I came up with like... two alternatives. 1... was that he could just sponge down, genuinely just take a bathtub full of water, remove necessary clothes, clean dirty area(s) and be done with it, never needing to fully submerge unless absolutely necessary or if its just easier, depending on the level of filth he somehow found himself in for some reason. 2... second one was a little different? but involves his tar and personal abilities directly! He has the ability to manipulate his tar, yes? as well as the ability to heat it up to incredible temperatures (demonic skills yea?). So if he really wanted, he could just.... burn it.. all off ?? if thats any easier. Though, because he's more inclined to be careful not to damage his bones (and although he can remove them, he would never remove the skull. so fact remains, he'd risk fracturing the bone with the heat I suppose, unless magically protected somehow ...Which is.... possible. and likely, for everyday reasons).

But say he did that for the bones, yes? Say maybe, he goes to the basement(dungeon.... its a dungeon) and goes into one of those sealed rooms no one is allowed access to-- he could have this charm that protects the bones from the heat, and because he's somewhere that yknow.... wont burn down (stone and all yeah?) he can just let er rip ?? remove clothes to be cleaned and incinerate any trace of dirt via molten tar >:] ! which is cooler an idea than the sponging off one and also entirely plausible (given it.... would potentially be more thorough and faster).

The sponge bath could have scents added to it just as an additional nice little thing... which is likely. I feel like he'd get badru or the whispers' opinion on scent choice fjdjffgdf if any fragrance at all, it'd be very.... very faint. maybe a little dab of cologne?? but unlikely.

As for turning his tar completely molten in the safety of the dungeon-- jfdjjds i can't imagine he'd smell... particularly good after that.. (but also maybe not too BAD once he cools down?), but he probably would smell some kinda way, even if just very faintly. he'd also?? probably be just a little warmer than he usually is, potentially noticeably so, for just a little while after. and the floor?? surrounding areas of where he did it would probably be nice and toasty
