Sorry, long post but I just needed to get what’s in my head shared with someone out there with a couple hidden questions in there:

So my head canon Shep has a lot of similarities to Sam despite the very different backgrounds. At the end of ME3, Jon Shep struts (as much as possible) determinedly towards Destroy.. Then as StarChild asks Shep if they would consider any other option Shep flips off the AI while sternly stating “I was promised cuddles and I’m cashing in on no matter what”.

So, would Kaidan’s “I’ll fight like hell to hold you again” reinvigorate/encourage/help Sam to see it through to the end? 

Also, thank you for the WIP-Whenever link (I still can’t find it in your posts, yes, I am most helpless) and I keep imagining how they end up there.  I headcanon Grimson Academy taking place right after the Coup and on the shuttle ride back to the Normandy, Kaidan feels out of place and unqualified to be around the crew having fun so he goes and sits up with Steve and sees if there’s anything he can help with even if its just to chat a bit.  Shepard at first thinks Kaidan is very tired (recently healed, lots of biotics used, Jack is a bit loud and overwhelming…)  Then the mission with Jacob.  Once again on the way back to the Normandy as Jacob and Shepard reminisce, Kaidan goes up front with Steve.  Shepard starts to wonder if Kaidan just wants nothing to do with anything Cerberus and is pained as he just wants to share the good parts of his time spent away and mistakenly doesn’t see that Kaidan is just guilt ridden.

Then the mission to check on the Araklah Company and saving Grunt.  Garrus, knowing what Kaidan is about to do, goes and sits in the copilot seat first while telling Kaidan he’s exhausted and needs to sit and shoos him away back to Shepard.  Shepard is beamingly happy introducing the two and talking about birthing Grunt and some of his crazy stunts during the Collector mission.

Cut to the Ardat Yakshi monastery.  Kaidan takes more interest in Samara and interacts with her.  However, due to the banshees screams, Kaidan’s head wants to go migraine mode but isn’t fully one. The crew is having some sort of party in the lounge so there’s more noise.  Shepard carries Kaidan from the Starboard Ob’s couch and basically cradles Kaidan.  Chakwas comes to check to see if Kaidan needs anything.  As the door opens and light pours through, Kaidan buries his head deeper into Shepard’s arm.  Chakwas asks if everything is okay and Shepard just looks down at Kaidan, smiles, and says ‘yeah. Yeah, everything is going to be okay.’

Cue Kaidan waking up and your WIP-Whenever occurring.  Kaidan has that Fugue dream of Shepard and trying to hold him as he wakes up.  This time it works.  The part that died along Shepard comes back to life and some of the colder/harsher side of Kaidan leaves. (basically like how Sam has a Sam side vs butcher side Kaidan has a Kaidan side and Major personality).

Throughout this Kaidan talks to Steve and kinda uses him as therapy as both lost their significant other to Collectors.  So my question is do you think you’d poke at Kaidan/Steve interactions? How would Steve react if his husband came back and work for the enemy? Can Steve help Kaidan heal? Does Kaidan still need to heal?  Furthermore, I can’t decide if Shepard would feel jealousy towards Steve? Would Sam think Kaidan is trying to romance Steve or is that just adding unnecessary drama just for the sake of adding angst.  I can’t decide what my Jon would do so I’m curious what would go on inside Sam’s head.

This reads a bit like a fic but I’d never make it one as it steals way too much from Sam and I’m simply not  a writer but would like feedback so I can mentally play with scenarios.

Also, while many are eagerly awaiting Horizon, I can't wait for Mars as Sam has to watch his nightmares unfold right in front of him (and Liara too tbh).

If you want to know what the thought process has been as to ‘how do Sam and Kaidan reconcile, actually?’ this is kind of what it looks like. Throwing a lot of spaghetti at the wall to see what sticks.

First, the ending. I have spent 12 years now hating the ME3 ‘endings’ with every fiber of my being. I will quite literally die mad about it. But I’ve spent those 12 years trying to envision an ending I would feel good about, that would give me closure, and do justice to the characters I love so much. I finally got there, and I am beside myself over it. While I intend to keep most of the same emotional beats from the game, they will probably unfold a little differently.

That said, Sam will see it through to the end because he’s Sam, and he’s ruthless by nature. The solution is all that matters. Once his course is set, you won’t deviate him from it. But when he said, “if it comes down to a choice between you and the galaxy, fuck the galaxy. I choose you,” he meant it, so that course won’t be without conflict.

As for the reconciliation, (which is referring to this snippet for those who are curious), I thought about a LOT of things that could be the catalyst for it and had a heck of a time getting to one that felt right, for reasons which tie into the dissertation I wrote on that snippet.

The catalyst being Steve Cortez is something I absolutely thought about, and almost went with.  I can definitely  see Kaidan and Steve doing a little bonding over grief, and Steve gently but firmly asking him, “Kaidan…what are you doing? He’s right there. No one gets a second chance like this. No one.”

And as for Sam being jealous, I actually think Sam would be the one to suggest Kaidan get to know Steve. Kaidan needs to talk to someone. He can’t talk to Sam. Steve is the right choice. Sam can have jealous moments, but he isn’t really the jealous type.

Missions like Lesuss (the ardat-yakshi monastery) will probably play into the tension between them. I wrote a story years ago about that mission, and while it isn’t part of Opus, my toxic trait is loosely considering nearly every fic I’ve written to be my own ‘canon’ in some way (I’ve referenced many, many, many things that happen in Exordium, my ME1 long fic, in Opus).  

I also thought Kaidan learning about his dad going missing might be the tipping point. I even did some writing for it, but as I talk about in that dissertation, it was too focused on Kaidan’s needs, and not focused enough on Sam’s.

I won’t spoil what it is actually going to be, yet anyway, but it involves them doing what they do best: understanding and being there for each other. I can’t wait. I haven’t written it down, but I have daydreamed about it in such detail it’s etched in stone.

D&D campaign idea

Your start off with a classic fantasy setup: There is an evil necromancer threatening the kingdom who needs to be stopped and you are siding with the "good guys" ™️

Have a paladin - let's call him Sir Osric - team up with the players. Have him be super helpful and likeable, whatever this means to your players.

This will be extremely important later: get them to like Sir Osric

Get right to the action. In the first session the players fight the necromancer and are on the cusp of victory, the necromancer at the tip of their blade.

When Sir Osric betrays them. He takes the necromancer's artifact for himself - The Eye of Gul'Dan, Skull of Morrigan, Crown of Quicksilver, whatever.

When he takes the artifact, have all players make a CON saving throw and follow the rules for a Banshee wail. What does a Banshee wail do? Well if you fail the save it reduce you to 0 HP. Yeah. It's a CR 4 creature that can just drop everyone within 30ft.

Sir Osric now goes full murder mode, finishing off anyone who didn't already get dropped. Now an Oathbreaker Paladin, have him monologue some stuff about having planned to take the Necromancer's artifact for himself but he can't leave any witnesses.

This is important: all the players must die. Setup before the campaign that they should expect something drastic like this to happen.

After the players all die, have them describe their interpretation of death as per their character's beliefs, spend a little time on this. Settle in it.

Form the otherside they open their eyes again and behold the wicked necromancer ™️ who offers them a deal: Be raised as Revenants and seek your vengeance against Sir Osric.

If the players have questions for the Necromancer, have them explain that things have gone a bit "Scar takes over Pride Rock" back at Kingdom, their undead has been defeated and they are now fleeing to bide their time, but not before paying a visit to the only other people who know of Osric's betrayal.

Once accepted (hopefully by the end of session one) the campaign begins proper!

Revenants are amazing.

Revenants have one year to kill the subject of their revenge before the curse of undeath ends. So we're talking long-term projects here. Have your players craft magical items and form alliances with allies who would also like to bring down Sir Osric.

A year is so much time for the players to fuck with Sir Osric. He gets married? Crash the wedding. His first child and heir has their naming ceremony? Crash that too. He wants to host a jousting tournament? Reveal his affair during the proceedings.

And so what if he has a Royal Guard of Clerics slamming you with holy spells. If a revenant dies, they repossess a new corpse 24 hours later and the only thing that can truly destroy them is a fucking wish spell.

That's right, this campaign is a rogue-like! Just have the players hurl themselves at Sir Osric and ruin his life and the oppressive regime he has created in his image. And they have a year to work towards that final battle to actually kill him and put their spirits to rest.

The starting whines of the engine core sounded like a banshee's wail. To compare it to a regular vehicle was folly. Regular machines did not know how to hate. This one seemed to RUN on it. That wail grew deeper in pitch within moments, the various exhausts pouring heat and fel flame as piston limbs and internal turbines spun faster and faster. The hellscrawled workings starting to glow that sickly eldritch green color from the increased friction of metal on metal, or perhaps from its increasing malevolence and its own irrepressible desire to destroy. Its one mechanical claw would have served as a breaching tool under the best of circumstances, able to simply tear almost any offending barrier down, or perhaps to claw and rake upon inferior constructs in crude melee. Its cannon arm was a salvaged, repurposed, and retrofitted Legion built anti aircraft artillery. A true Fel-cannon that had been later upgraded beyond what the Iron Horde madmen, or Legion tech-savants had ever intended for their Dark Corsair class mechs. Galvanic Oscillators and Chain Ignitercoils ripped from Mechagon and out of Titan Keeper Constructs had been fused with the original design to supplement and enhance power distribution, heating, and swiftness. A juggernaut that could turn on a copper coin even at top speeds. It was an ever approaching technological apotheosis of the worst variety. A machine whos appearances herald nightmarish catastrophe. A siege of one. An annihilator. "THIS, Is my favorite way to get around." The warlock said with a grin as its blast shield came down.

It's really hard mimicking the Unicorn Gundam's design though...

Unicorn Miki 03 Phenex

Came from the real: RX-0 Unicorn Gundam 03 Phenex [Narrative Ver.] [CLICK ME!]

Armament(s):

• 60mm Vulcan Gun

A basic armament found on many armored suits. While essentially ineffectual against opponent(s), they are useful in intercepting incoming missiles/rockets, destroying armored suit sensors, and engaging lightly-armored vehicles.

• Armed Armor DE

The normal I-field equipped shield used by the Unicorn with additional parts containing a propulsion system and a mega cannon, it is similar to Shield Boosters. The Phenex is equipped with two such shields and they are mounted on the back like a pair of wings, demonstrating explosive accelerations. DE stands for Defense Extension. It also has tail-like stabilizers on the Armed Armor DE for attitude control and can be used as remote-controlled weaponry.

• Beam Saber

The standard close range armament for most armored suits. The Phenex is equipped with four beam sabers, two on the forearms and two in the backpack. In Unicorn mode, the armor only has access to the two forearms mounted beam sabers. In Destroy Mode, the other two beam sabers flip out from the backpack, allowing access to all four sabers.

• Beam Tonfa

The forearm-mounted beam sabers can be flipped over and used directly. In this form, the weapon is known as beam tonfa.

• Beam Magnum

A highly customized beam rifle designed with an energy condenser, a single shot from the beam magnum is equal in power to 4 normal beam rifle shots but it uses up an entire E-pac. Each of the beam magnum's magazine is loaded with 5 E-pacs, allowing a total of five shots before a new magazine is needed. The Phenex can carry two spare magazines on its rear skirt armor.

Special Equipment(s)/Feature(s):

• Newtype-Destroyer System

The Newtype Destroyer (or NT-D) System is an anti-Newtype system developed by the Earth Federation and used on the RX-0 series. The system works by using the Psycoframe built within its body to seek out Newtype brainwaves. Should one be found, the NT-D System activates and turns the Unicorn armors (The Unicorn Gundam, the Banshee, and the Phenex) from its usual "Unicorn mode" into its "Destroy mode", improving its stats overall and allowing it to take control of Newtype weaponry used by others and turn them against them. However, the system has a number of flaws to it, among them being having a five minute time usage so it wouldn't kill the member and the fact that it doesn't discriminate against real Newtypes and Cyber-Newtypes. Its most ironic flaw is that, because of the massive stress to give, a Newtype is the member for the unit. Perhaps the greatest flaw in a weapon system is the automatic response. The NT-D activates automatically when a Newtype opponent is detected. Once active, it will attack, even against member's wishes. Thankfully, those with strong wills can overpower the system and determine when it can activate.

Banshee leaned back in his seat on the Bioship with his hands propped behind his head, eyeing the video projection of the two team leaders on the window in front of him. The adults in question were reviewing mission parameters with the squad, but Jenna, specifically, seemed distracted in the background so it was mainly Nightwing speaking.

“Investigating the origin of the alien bomb that destroyed the Krolotean invasion force is still a high priority,” he said. “We suspect the bomb may have been smuggled to Earth via boom tube.”

That was one problem that the new Zeta-Shields wouldn’t be able to fix, which Banshee found out from Superboy. If anyone had access to boom tubes, they could still traverse freely to and from Earth. And that seemed like an even worse figurative bomb waiting to go off. Or literal.

“Watchtower sensor scans in Bialya have recorded an uptick in boom tube activity. Alpha Squad, your mission is-”

The young demigod in front of Banshee leaned forward eagerly. “-sneak behind enemy lines, recon known boom tube hotspots, and find alien tech matching the bomb,” Wonder Girl rambled, switching to stealth mode as she did. “Oh, and don’t get caught or create an international incident…right?”

Nightwing paused in surprise before smirking. “That about covers it.”

Jenna snorted, glancing over at her co-leader. “Careful, Wing, she might take over our job one day,” she teased as she adjusted the glasses on the bridge of her nose.

So Chapter 16 aka Satan Round 2.

At least we got some…movement of the plot with some juicy lore to boot.

But my real question is: With Mammon saying this (Satan just described Lucifer to a T after the Banshee incident), my question is ‘do all the brothers know where Satan came from.’

Spoilers if you haven’t played OG Obey Me

Satan is by the literal definition Lucifer’s son. He was the rage that came out of him when Lucifer was cast out of Heaven and originated from Lucifer’s third set of wings, hence WHY Satan has the black feather boa.

The connection is very easy to piece together: the way they stand, their horns being similar, even during this event and newest chapter even their personalities are similar when in neutral mode.

There are obvious differences that set them apart too.

You could also argue that they’re one in the same person when referencing Paradise Lost where Lucifer becomes Satan and they are one in the same person.

I believe it was in the OG Obey Me that Satan said he could comprehend a bit of what happened during Lucifer’s end in the Celestial Realm because he was inside of Lucifer.

Asmo comments that Satan was ‘late to the party’ when they all arrived in the Devildom and n this chapter Beel points out that despite losing Lilith, they got Satan in her place.

So that tells me that either nobody has stated anything about it, or nobody has deduced the obvious.

I do find it very ironic that during Lucifer’s birthday they ran an event and released an entire new Chapter revolving around Satan and putting Lucifer in a lace negligee.

We even got a third-party source (which we can only assume is an unbiased account of Solomon’s story), which is similar to the account told at the beginning of the game. Good to know his story about being locked in the basement was a goddamned lie.

So not only did he try to destroy the Devildom, he almost caused the end of the human race.

So I say to all the Solomon stans: is the gaslighting effect kicking in yet?

Ngl I think Solomon is jealous of the treatment MC got with their powers while he was outcasted by society. So he’s using his toolkit to essentially destroy MC’s happy future.

Nightbringer is not Barbatos or an evil iteration of Barbatos that ended up serving Solomon whole heartedly instead of Diavolo. The Solomon we are with now is from a completely different timeline where he was defeated by MC for trying to end the goddamn universe. And he wants revenge and once we ‘get our pacts back’ we are gonna get stabbed in the back. I just feel it.

And I think with the real Raphael showing up next chapter, I think Solomon has accelerated a chain of events that can’t be stopped. Which is that RAD is going to get formed way sooner in the timeline, thus causing NB to start clashing with the plot of the OG OB and we possibly might even get a MC paradox which is going to fuck up the entire universe. Things will be different- but it will feel similar.

Note when we first arrived and Diavolo was talking about RAD, his mind was in the very rough Alpha phases of imaging the school.

Halo infinite maps

Whatever your playstyle, 343 has made sure there’s something for everyone. There’s a huge variety of weapons in Halo Infinite multiplayer as well. Each design is well-thought out, and I can’t wait to see the campaign when it drops. Fragmentation gives you better opportunities with a long-range weapon, whereas Highpower focuses it’s attention on one main point: a tower in the centre of the map. The three maps in BTBs are filled will lots of great spots for whatever you plan of action is. You can screech across the map on a banshee, or pace in the shadows waiting for an all-important sniper kill. These 12v12 fights throw in all the popular Halo vehicles as well. It slows the pace somewhat and allows you to be more tactical in your approach. Big Team Battles are a lot of fun, and carnage is everywhere you look. If bigger battles are more your thing, Halo Infinite multiplayer has you covered. It takes that traditional Halo magic and throws it all into one tense battle within a power station. The latter features a neon shopping space set within a constricted city environment. The first takes place under the blazing sun in a sandy marketplace. For instance, my favourite two are Bazaar and Streets. Not everyone is as good as the next, but there’re more good than bad. Whichever your favourite, the maps on offer for the smaller affairs are pretty fantastic. I’ve had tons of fun carrying that shiny skull. Strongholds is all about capturing control zones for points, similar to Conquest in Battlefield. Slayer is the traditional deathmatch mode, allowing you the chance to focus solely on obliterating the enemy.įiesta is similar to Slayer, except you start with two random weapons and a piece of equipment. Escorting your teammates or waiting for support will make the long trip back to base feel more doable. There’s no point being a lone wolf and grabbing the flag because the enemy will destroy you. What’s great about CTF is how it forces you to work together. Capture the Flag makes you do just that, then carry it to your base. If you prefer smaller encounters, the Quick Match option allows you to jump into a random mode in small, 4v4 battles. Halo Infinite Multiplayer: Great maps and modes Not only that, it does it with finesse and style. The multiplayer in Halo Infinite offers plenty of maps and modes to scratch every itch. I don’t know why, but I’m pretty decent when it comes to donning the Spartan armour and blasting fools into oblivion. I can’t enjoy them because other players seem to decimate me without breaking a sweat. Games like Call of Duty are too fast-paced and chaotic for me. For an older gamer, I don’t feel out of touch or too old to keep up with the youngsters. Halo Infinite multiplayer feels incredible. There’re few games that handle as tightly as Halo, and no-one can touch the balance it strikes between the thrill of a gunfight and the methodical pace each fight has. I spent an ungodly amount of hours online with it. Personally, Halo 3 is the best multiplayer I’ve ever played. OK, so I may be overreacting a little bit, but my word, it’s great to be back. Returning to the online multiplayer of Halo was almost a religious experience.
