Babes! New(ish) Show Alert
I KNOW Im late on hopping on this wave, but Bob Hearts Abishola is hands down one of the best TV shows i’ve binged in a while. Their relationship is very out there, and honestly how either one of them stuck through since their respected families are terrifying is beyonddddd me. Now, I only watched the first three seasons on HBO Max, and Im going to start season 4 later this week. I am going to make it clear…I am not African, so some of the issues that are brought up in the show I definitely disagree. Im kinda thankful that Gloria is one of Abishola and Kemi’s friends because she kinda brings them off of their high horse sometimes. I know the show has been coming up on tiktok and I see the comments that say they dont like Abishola (honestly it should be Dottie’s racist ass bffr), but everyone is raised differently and there is inherited biases that clearly didnt go away once abishola moved to detroit and she’s trying to instill it in her son(not working😂). Overall it is a fun lil romcom show to watch and as of right now I rate it a solid 4.9/5⭐️
I hope everyone has a great Monday!<3

It's so fucking fucked up that like, for the fifth and final season, most of the main cast of Bob Hearts Abishola is recurring.
They have 13 members of the main cast. 9 of which are Black folks, including the CO-CREATOR of the show!!! (Gina Yashere) Only two of the 13 have not been dropped down recurring and that's the two leads (one white male lead, one Black female lead).
So sus of CBS.

Gina's sitcom Bob Hearts Abishola is now in its fourth season and currently airing on CBS on Monday nights at 8:30pm (7:30pm Central Time).
Gina is co-creater, showrunner, writer and series regular on the show, playing Kemi, Abishola's best friend.
I never miss an episode.

I really wish Bob Hearts Abishola had a fandom. It’s such a great show. I love how all the characters get their moments to shine and that we get to know more about the Nigerians in particular.

About your modern AU where you said that Ronal and Neytiri are night nurses who are friends but bicker and are in constant competition, it reminded me of Abishola and Kemi from Bob Loves Abishola.
THEY WERE MY INSPO WHEN I WROTE IT

What's Wrong With Normal Sitcoms?
There's nothing at all wrong with laughing at basic, average, sitcoms.
Back in 2019, I remember watching Abby’s (about a woman who had a bar in her backyard) and thinking ‘this is a total normal sitcom.’ There are sitcoms that shatter genres and make us think, like All in the Family or Maude (by dearly departed Norman Lear), talking about being gay when it wasn’t common, or a whole episode about an abortion. Those sitcoms are the ones we love, and talk about for…

There is something about the show Bob Hearts Abishola that I hate. The rudeness and ignorant views of Abishola and her family, completely rubbed me the wrong way. I found it crazy that some Nigerians were actually praising the show and talking about how authentic it is. If that is true, that is really sad. Cause the show portrays Nigerian culture as being cruel, harsh and heartbreaking at times. This show does not represent y'all in a positive light.
It also has a bit of a white savior complex as well. Cause Bob is portrayed as a loving and caring person who listens to others. While Abishola is egregious, rude and harsh. Caring nothing about other people's feelings, even her own son. The interaction between the son is what really kills me. If I grew up in a household like this, upon my 18th birthday I would become a ghost. I would leave my family and never look back.
I'm was shocked when I looked this show up and saw that there were 4 seasons and the show was being renewed for a 5th. It's crazy to me that this show got renewed but an extremely popular show like SWAT got cancelled by CBS.
