Wish (A Cuphead AU) Chapter One:
*Hey guys, I'm back with the first chapter of the Wish AU with Cuphead. I do want to let you all know that this book is not related to the other books about Cuphead I've published. It's just an AU I like to do for fun. Now, this is published on December 5, 2023. If you like this chapter, don't be afraid to heart it, reblog, and comment. That will be greatly appreciated. Enjoy!*
The streets of Inkwell Isles were filled with citizens shopping and exploring the stores around them. The town came to life from the excited chatters from soulful people. At the corner of the street by the fair, the children sat around the creature in green trench coat and hat.
“Gather around children. Let me tell you a story,” the creature replied, holding his puppets in his tent.
“What’s the story today, Jerry?” the child asked.
“Hush now, child, and I will tell you,” Jerry, the creature, responded. He began using the angel version, blue furred with wings attached to the back and a halo held over the head by a wire. He had the tapestry of the appearance of an angel he was puppeteering.
“Once upon a time, there was an angel named Lucifer.”
The tapestry changed by the snap of the genie’s finger. It transformed to what appeared to be Heaven with Lucifer being surrounded by angels. Lucifer shined the most.
“He was the Morningstar, outshining all the angels of Heaven. But his shine was never enough to fill his desires. He made a wish so dangerous that drove him to his own self-destruction.”
The tapestry shifted to Lucifer appearing like he was jealous of the hands of the Most High creating mortal kind.
“Lucifer wanted the seat of the Most High’s. He wanted to be a god to all the living mortals down on the earth the Creator created.”
The next tapestry appeared next to one that changed, revealing Lucifer waging war with him holding his pitchfork while the Most High clenched his fists with lightning around them.
“He waged war on Heaven, convincing most angels to side with him. Both he and the Creator fought and fought for many days and nights until Lucifer fell off of Heaven with his angels turned into demons now.”
The tapestry shifted to Lucifer falling from Heaven and down into the fires of Hell.
“Their wings stripped off of their backs and their halos crumbled above their heads, tiny glass shards jabbed on top of their heads that became their horns. Lucifer was no longer the Morningstar he used to be. He was now the Devil. He became the ruler of this burning lake of fire called Hell. However, he desired to rule the mortal realm still.”
The next tapestry revealed that Devil crawled out of Hell and towards the mortal realm. The next tapestry moved ahead to reveal the Devil disguising himself as a snake to tempt the first mortal woman ever created to eat the forbidden fruit. Then it showed various stages of the world falling with mortals either turning to their selfish desires such as a brother killing another to be in favor of the Most High, a mortal who built an ark to put all the animals and mortals that was in faith with the Most High, and a half mortal and half son of the Most High dying on the cross.
Then the last tapestry revealed that the Devil was building his kingdom in the isle far from where these events at.
“His rise to the top wasn’t easy, but he decided to built his kingdom on sand. A demon disguised as a man, a king. He anointed himself with oil and ruled the mortals who had been in the kingdom so early on. His name was changed to King Luci.”
The next tapestry showed the Devil as the king meeting King Dice, a die head in a purple tuxedo.
“His man, King Dice, caught the eye of the king a few centuries later. It was one day, he found out about these wishes and desires in human hearts through his husband. Together, they ruled the kingdom, finding ways to gather these wishes and grant them.”
The next tapestry revealed Devil and Dice ruling the kingdom as both kings.
“A system was built now. And more people came over the centuries and settled. These isles the Devil ruled are now known as the Inkwell Isles”
The last tapestry showed a tree off of the shore with the red feline.
“This is where our story begins. This is where we meet one feline who changed the course of history forever,” Jerry concluded his narrative.
~.~
Cassidy, the red-furred feline with black short hair and a purple dress, was sleeping against the tree with a branch she was sitting on extended to the side. She leaned against the trunk with quiet snores, spending time being under the stars.
What she didn’t know was that her mother, Shayna, approached her. With a soft smile on her face, she climbed up on the branch next to her daughter. She nudged on Cassidy’s arm gently.
“Hey, wake up,” Shayna whispered.
Cassidy groaned awake and fluttered her eyes open to see her mother sitting next to her. “Hi, Mom.”
“Hi,” Shayna responded. “You’re looking up at the stars again, aren’t you?”
Cassidy rubbed her eyes with a yawn. “Yeah.”
“Did you make a wish?”
“Not really,” she said while looking down to see a gravestone on the edge of the cliff.
It had an engraving that said, “Here lies Jack Cat: A father and a husband.”
Shayna frowned and looked at her daughter. “Believe it or not, I miss him too. But you know, you’re going to become of age soon in a few months. Eighteen, to be exact. You get to give your wish to King Luci.”
“Yeah…but I’m not sure if he’ll ever grant it. It might sound like a stupid wish,” Cassidy replied sadly.
Shayna caressed her daughter’s fluffy cheek. “As long as it’s not a bad wish, you’ll be fine.”
Cassidy smiled softly until she jumped to hear the bells ring from the town just down the hill. “Oh shoot! I’m going to be late!” She hopped off of the tree branch and turned to the gravestone to bid it goodbye. “Bye, Dad.”
Shayna followed after her daughter when Cassidy started to run. “Honey, honey, wait! Slow down!”
“Sorry, Mom, I gotta go—”
“Aren’t you forgetting something?” Shayna questioned.
Cassidy stopped for a second and pondered. “Um…”
“Don’t tell me you forgot someone’s birthday?”
Cassidy gasped excitedly, her tail wagging a bit.
Meanwhile, Porkrind, the one-eyed pig, was cleaning around his shop by dusting the shelves full of peculiar objects on them. His skin was pale as if his soul had been sucked out of his body. He sighed deeply when hearing someone sneaking around him.
“Ya know, Jerry, you could’ve just walk into the shop like a normal person,” Porkrind responded, turning to see Jerry, the mysterious person with black fur and red hooked nose, appearing on the other side of the counter.
Jerry pulled something out from within his trench coat and took out the crates. “Here are some special deliveries that a friend told me to give to you on your—”
“Ba-ba-ba,” Porkrind interrupted. “If it’s secret, it’s better to be kept that way.”
“It’s a gift from Shayna and Cassidy.”
“Huh? Why would they—?”
“It’s for your birthday…did you forget?” Jerry asked.
“Of course not,” Porkrind groaned. “Great. Just great. Another year closer to my death.”
“You always say that every year.”
“I meant it every year.”
“You used to be, uh, happier before King Luci took your wish. What happened to you?”
“Because the king doesn’t even bother to grant my wish. For forty years, he hadn’t granted my wish. Why? Is it not good enough for him to grant?”
“I’m sure the king has his reasons.”
“I like to see him come up with one. Tell me, Jerry, since he took your wish, had he granted you any?”
Jerry rubbed his chin. “Nah. Not really. But even if he didn’t grant my wish, it’s alright. I’m content with just where I’m at right now.”
Porkrind sighed. “I wish I can be that content.”
Cassidy and Shayna entered the shop.
“Happy birthday!” Cassidy replied happily, rushing up to the pig and hugging him.
He stumbled back from her jumping on him to hug with a chuckle. “Whoa, whoa, easy there.”
“Did Jerry give you our presents?” Cassidy asked excitedly.
“It’s right here,” Jerry showed the felines.
“You didn’t open it?” Shayna asked the pig.
“Not yet.”
Cassidy hopped excitedly. “Open it. Open it.”
Porkrind huffed a laugh. “Okay, okay, okay.” The pig opened the presents both Cassidy and Shayna gave him. He widened his eye in shock to find a stack of paper for ads around his shop. The papers have drawings of strange objects that look both colorful and realistic.
Shayna smiled softly. “Those are Cassi’s drawings for your shop.”
Cassidy leaned forward. “Since you wanted to expand your business, you can post ads everywhere in Inkwell Isles. I’m sure you’ll get someone’s attention.”
Porkrind smiled softly. “Well, how awfully considerate of you. I might have to consider putting these up.”
“And you get to sell all of your collections,” Shayna responded.
Porkrind smiled softly at them. “That would be lovely…” he yawned a bit. “Not sure how I could if I’m so tired all the time.”
Cassidy frowned to notice him getting sleepy. “Are you okay?”
“Just gettin’ older,” Porkrind answered softly.
Everyone in the shop heard the bells ring from the kingdom.
“Oh shoot! I’m going to be late!” Cassidy gasped in shock. She kissed her mother’s cheek and hugged both Porkrind and Jerry. “I gotta go before I’m late. I love you all!”
“We love you too. Be safe!” Shayna called as her daughter was out of the door.
Jerry sighed happily. “She’s growing up so fast.”
“Too fast I’m afraid,” Porkrind said with a frown.
Jerry and Shayna glanced at Porkrind and lost their smiles.
Shayna decided to change the subject. “C’mon, let me make a birthday breakfast for you.”
“Thanks,” Porkrind responded.
~.~
Cassidy rushed into the kingdom in the early morning. Entering the plaza full of shops opening up, she started sweat around her head. “I’m late. I’m late—”
“Excuse, miss.”
Cassidy jumped when she heard a voice. It came from a female human with blonde hair and her husband.
“You seem knowledgeable about this place,” the woman began. “We just got here and we’ve been looking for a tourist, but everyone here…looks dead inside. You and the kids seemed to be the only lively ones.”
Cassidy faked a smile. “They probably just woke up. But, um, let me find you guys a tour guide—”
“But we want a tour guide that’s lively like you, dear,” the woman clarified. “Do you mind giving us a tour?”
“Uh…sure. I mean, I would love to give you a tour. I’m sure this will only take a couple of minutes with a song,” Cassidy replied.
“A song?” the woman and her husband responded in confusion.
On cue, the music began to play as Cassidy swayed her hips side to side to the beat of the tambourine instrument played by a random civilian. Then she started to sing beautifully.
“Welcome to the Inkwell Isles!
Come on, there’s so much to show you!”
Cassidy led the couple down the plaza and showed the colors coming to life around them.
“Welcome to the happiest place on Earth.
There’s no other place like the Inkwell Isles.
Your dreams and reality will combine.”
She showed gypsies dancing in the center of the plaza while they were drumming on the tambourines.
Cassidy danced with them while showing the couple. She showed them someone conducting a live performance in the street with a wand.
“You want to be taken to Fantasia?”
She twirled around to a woman with long hair in a tight braid that reached to her heels. She pointed at the girl when singing the line.
“Or have your hair grow longer than Rapunzel?”
She hopped towards a couple of kids in the playground dressed up in space ranger suits.
“Or become a Space Ranger?”
She popped up between the new couple in the plaza and chirped in her melodic voice.
“Well, hey, you’ve came to the right place!”
She twirled around the center as the citizens started to join her and sing along with her.
“‘Cause here in the Inkwell Isles,
You can skip all of your hardships just to be where you want to be.
No more suffering and no more obstacles.
Oh here, in the Inkwell Isles,
It’s impossible to be unhappy with so much magic to see.”
Cassidy sang softly while pointing each citizen she sang to. The more colors came to life, the more the tourists who arrived at the city and watched her in fascination.
“A home for every one of us, and yes, even you.
In the Inkwell Isles.”
The pirate with two peg legs tilted his head. “So, who’s your ruler here?”
Cassidy gleefully smiled. “Well, here, let me introduce you to our kings.”
She guided the tourists to the statue of the king in silver stone shining in the early light in front of the castle.
“We have our ruler called King Luci.
And he built Inkwell Isles all by himself.
With talons and fangs, sharp enough to cut into you!”
The tourists gasped in fear with a wince.
Cassidy had the sudden guilty look from scaring the tourists, faking a smile.
“Wait, no, no, I’m just kidding...but you don’t want to mess with him.
He’s different than us, that’s for sure.”
“He looks like a joke,” the flower with orange petals commented.
“Hey, shut up and listen to her,” the blonde woman scolded the flower.
Cassidy blushed and sang.
“Aww, thanks.
Oh, look over here,
It’s—”
“Cassidy!”
The music paused as Cassidy turned to look at the man with a purple suit and a die for his head. His thin mustache around the top of his lips while arching a brow.
“What are on earth are you doing?”
Cassidy straightened up. “Sorry, your majesty. Just giving a tourists a tour.”
“A tour? Oh-ho-ho, you folks seem to have a fun time. The name’s King Dice, the gamest in the land. I see our maid is giving you all a spectacular tour.” He said the end of the line by showing off his card tricks to them, getting the audience to gasp in fascination when the music started to play.
“Yeah, she seems lively out of—” The blonde woman looked around to find out that everyone was now lively. “Um…nevermind?”
“Well, yes,” the die-headed king responded with a smile. “Everyone here is lively in the Inkwell Isles,”
The music continued as he began to sing.
“Oh, has she forgot to mention once you come here with a wish,
You give it to the king of wishes, my husband?
He’ll take away your burdens and store them away.
So, don’t worry your pretty little heads,
When you got a king to take all your worries away?”
The flower arched a brow. “Uh, that sounds too good to be true.”
“Oh, what a great place to live,” the woman replied to her husband.
“Wait, does it hurt when he takes our wishes?” the pirate questioned.
The king shook his head and sang beautifully.
“No, and you won’t feel a thing once they’re gone.”
The king looked at Cassidy as they both sang together and showed the tourist around the streets of Inkwell Isle.
“‘Cause here in the Inkwell Isles,
You can skip all of your hardships just to be where you want to be.
No suffering and no obstacles.
Oh here, in the Inkwell Isles.
It’s impossible to be unhappy with so much magic to see.”
Cassidy sang beautifully for the last two lines.
“A home for every one of us, and yes, even you.
In the Inkwell Isles.”
The music ended on the softer note while the tourists clapped for Cassidy and King Dice.
“Oh, we’re going to love it here!” The husband replied happily.
“I got so many wishes to make,” the wife said with excitement in her tone.
“Huh, it sounds a bit nifty,” the flower whispered to the pirate.
King Dice shifted his gaze down at Cassidy. “Well, well, I didn’t even notice you have good singing talents. I’m sure you make a great tourist one day.”
She looked away with guilt while following the king back to the castle. “I’m sorry, your majesty. I know that it’s your job to give tours.”
“Oh no, no, it’s fine. I didn’t think there were already many tourists coming into this place so early in the morning,” Dice responded. Once they’re inside of the castle, Dice dropped his pleasantry face and glanced at her. “Now, for the chores at hand.”
He shoved a bucket full of soap water and a sponge onto the feline’s chest. “The king wants the floors cleaned. We’re going to have a special event involving your little tourists friends. Get every corner and every tile on the floor. And since you’re late, you better chop-chop before the king sees you standing idle.”
“Yes, your majesty,” she responded as he walked away.
With a sigh, Cassidy started to scrub the floors throughout the entire kingdom, getting every corner she could find as King Dice instructed her to do.
~.~
Natalie, the cup girl with brown bubbly hair, baked the last batch of cookies with King Luci’s face on it. King Luci’s face appeared to be a man with a bright blue hair with only a gray streak line. She limped over to the lift, using her crutch to get her there. She opened the wooden door and lifted it up to deliver it to the king in his bedroom. She never had been up there before and, frankly, she didn’t care much to go up there.
“Can I have some of your cookies?”
“AH!” Natalie screeched and punched a random stranger in the face. Although, she realized that it was just a cup boy with a striped red straw bent backwards on the floor.
“Oh golly! I’m so sorry, Cuphead! I didn’t even know it was you who was there,” Natalie exclaimed, helping him up on his feet with a blush on her face.
“I should’ve known better than to sneak up behind ya,” Cuphead responded with a small smile. “Didn’t mean to scare ya.”
“It’s fine. It’s fine,” Natalie responded, her face flustered. “Um, what did you ask before I punch you in the face?”
“Oh, I was just gonna ask if you still have some cookies left over,” Cuphead replied. “But I think the last batch went to the king already.”
“You can have my burned batch.”
“Oooh!” Cuphead perked his head up interested. when she showed him a tray full of burned cookies.
“I know how you like them. Hope you don’t mind—”
Cuphead grabbed one of the cookies and started to chew on it. He gave a thumbs up. “Ten out of ten. As always.”
She blushed and grinned nervously. “Thanks.”
He softly smiled back at her. “No problem.”
She rubbed her arm nervously around him. “So…”
They were interrupted by the door opening, revealing a metal canteen with goggles on his forehead.
“Hey, guys,” the canteen replied.
“What on earth are you doing here? You know you are going to get yourself in trouble with the king again,” Cuphead whispered to Canteen harshly.
“Yeah, yeah, but I came up with a new theory about where the wishes go!” Canteen responded.
“Not your theories again, man,” Cuphead groaned.
“Now here me out,” Canteen replied. “Hear me out. What if the wishes were buried?”
“Buried?” a female voice replied, scaring Cuphead and Natalie.
Natalie threw a punch, but she punched a see-through face. She realized she was punching through a blue ghost chalice, who phased her head away from Natalie’s fist.
“Sorry there, girlie,” Chalice, the blue ghost, replied. She took one of the burned cookies and hovered over the table, focusing on Canteen while turning into her physical form. Now her head was a golden chalice with a black top and an aqua skirt. “So, what do ya mean that our wishes were buried?”
“So, think about it. Have any of you ever seen any wishes around here somewhere in the castle?” Canteen asked his friends.
Cuphead crossed his arms. “There ain’t no wishes over at the stables.”
“Or in the kitchen,” Natalie added.
“Or in the king’s bedroom…unless it’s somehow behind the magical wall that I couldn’t phase through somehow,” Chalice responded.
“Wait, what?!” the kids gasped.
Chalice nodded her head. “Yeah, the king got a secret wall that he usually goes into. I tried to phase through because, you all know, I’m nosey…and…well, I couldn’t.”
“Have you tried to go around and phase through the windows that might lead to the secret room?”
“Yep, tried that. It zapped me before I could even go inside,” Chalice responded to Natalie’s question.
“Huh, a ghost resistant magic I see,” Cuphead replied to himself.
Canteen gained everyone’s attention back. “So, maybe…it’s buried under the castle. It is said that King Luci built this kingdom on sand…right? Well, he could have buried the wishes under the castle and sand…makes it easier to dig.”
Cassidy entered the kitchen, out of breath from work. She widened her eyes to see her friends gathering in the kitchen.
“What are you guys doing?” Cassidy asked her friends.
“Makin’ theories I suppose,” Natalie responded.
“But wishes are special. There ain’t no way he would be keeping ‘em underground,” Cuphead replied.
“Then where would you keep the wishes at?” Chalice asked.
Cuphead shrugged. “A vault…somewhere. I don’t know.”
“RIGHT! YOU CAN BURY A VAULT FULL OF WISHES UNDERNEATH THE CASTLE!! CUPHEAD, YOU ARE A GENUIS!!” Canteen shouted excitedly.
“Huh?” Cuphead uttered.
Cassidy arched a brow. “Did you have a pot full of coffee again?”
Canteen took out an empty pot of coffee from behind his back. “Yeah, but, hey, at least it kept me up all night theorizing about where our wishes go.”
Cassidy tilted her head. “Why would that matter?”
“Why wouldn’t it matter?” Canteen replied. “Like, you have King Luci here taking wishes from you and where do they go? They don’t just disappear into thin air. He just took them and store them away somewhere. He claims to be the wish-granter and had granted wishes before. Like, you know that lady that wished to fly through the skies?”
The kids nodded their heads.
“Didn’t she get transformed into…you know, a blimp?” Chalice replied.
“A humanoid blimp! She’s flew through the skies as the wish granted. So, he kept her soul, but somehow…twisted it into something completely different. All he had to do was shoved her wish back into her chest and Voila! She’s a humanoid blimp.”
“You think she didn’t want to be a blimp?” Natalie questioned.
“It’s not what she asked for,” Canteen responded.
“But she gets to fly,” Cassidy replied.
“Yeah, but not in the way she probably didn’t want,” Canteen added.
“How would you know that?” Chalice questioned.
Canteen sighed. “I’ve just seen the way she’s walking. She ain’t walking good lately—”
“Are you talking about Hilda?” Another voice peered into the conversation from behind Canteen.
Canteen whirled around to see a bowl with freckles. “Bowlboy! Hey, you’ve came just in time since I’m done makin’ another theory.”
“Oh, great,” Bowlboy responded while plastering a smile, his eyes droopy from the lack of sleep.
“How late did you stay up?” Cuphead asked, noticing the bags under the bowl’s eyes.
“D’ya need coffee?” Chalice asked.
Canteen offered his empty coffee pot. “You can refill it.”
Bowlboy shook his head at the offer. “Nah, I’m fine. Uh, I slept pretty early actually. Is it normal to feel drained out after you gave away your wish to the king?”
“I guess,” Natalie responded shyly.
“That reminds me. We all got wishes coming up to give to the king,” Cassidy responded. “What did you guys wish for?”
Natalie looked at Cuphead and blushed, earning a smirk from Cassidy. She shook her head. “Uh, nothing.”
“I wish to be the top dancer! Look, I’ve been practicing!” Chalice replied while tap-dancing in front of the group.
The group awed in fascination.
“Oh! I’m lookin’ to open a mechanic shop,” Canteen responded, taking out a wrench with glee. “I’m already good at fixin’ things. Why not open a shop for it?”
“You should be opening a shop where you just tell your customers all your theories,” Cuphead teased his friend.
“I mean, I can hold a good conversation with them while they wait,” Canteen went along with the joke.
Cuphead chuckled and moved the subject to himself. “Well, I want my own ship to explore the world with. Have you guys ever wonder what’s beyond the Inkwell Isles?”
“No.”
“Not really.”
“That’s really admirable,” Natalie said with a wistful sigh at Cuphead. She blushed and stuttered. “I-I mean, it’s admirable that you want to explore the world.”
Cuphead smiled obliviously. “Thanks.”
Bowlboy sighed. “Well, you guys are going to have to wait for a while to have your wish granted. I mean, I just wished to be part of the king’s army…but I guess that won’t ever come true.”
“Aw, Bowlboy, don’t lose hope,” Chalice responded. “Besides, I’m sure King Luci has his reasons.”
“Reasons he’ll never tell us. Which makes room for more theories and suspicions!” Canteen replied excitedly.
As Chalice and the boys were chatting about the wishes, Cassidy noticed Natalie staring at Cuphead with a goofy smile.
“Why don’t you go and tell him? You don’t have to wish it to tell him how you feel.”
Natalie turned to Cassidy with a blush. “No, I can’t. I mean, what if he says no?”
“You’ll never know until you tell him right. You know that wishes can’t make a person fall in love—”
“I know, I know. I’m not even wishing for that. I just wish…I was brave…like you.”
“Like me?”
“Yeah, you see a guy you like and you went for it—”
“Not really—”
“Don’t sell yourself short.”
“Well, last time I went to a guy I think I like and dated him, it didn’t work out,” Cassidy responded while looking at Bowlboy to refer to him.
Bowlboy took a moment to glance at Cassidy and then look away with a soft grunt.
“He must be mad at me. I just didn’t have feelings for him. I didn’t want to keep pretending and be honest with him. I guess, being honest is a bad thing.”
“Hey, just because you and Bowlboy didn’t work out, that didn’t mean that it’s the end of the world. Besides, you gotta kiss many frogs to find your Prince Charming.”
“Says the one who hasn’t approached her potential Prince Charming yet.”
Natalie blushed madly. “Hey, I’m talking about you—”
The door opened and the room fell silent. The kids glanced up to see the other king in a purple robe, a gold crown, and appearing like a man with red hair.
“What are you all doing lollygagging? Chop-chop! We have tourists today! We need to make a ceremony to welcome them!” the king responded impatiently until he noticed Canteen. “Wait, you’re not supposed to be here—”
Canteen ran and crashed through the window. He fell and screamed out his words on the way down. “I’LL SEE YOU GUYS TOMORROW!!!”
Cuphead and Bowlboy looked out of the window to see Canteen landing on the pile of hay and scurrying out of it.
“Well, at least he landed on the pile of hay,” Cuphead replied to Bowlboy, who nodded his head in agreement.
“Cuphead, Bowlboy! You’re supposed to tend to the stables,” King Luci ordered.
“Alright, alright, your Majesty. We’re on our way,” Cuphead responded. “C’mon, Bowls, we got work to do.”
Bowlboy nodded his head sadly in agreement.
They exited out of the kitchen while Cuphead waved Natalie and Cassidy goodbye.
“You,” King Luci pointed to Natalie. “Get cooking. And you?”
Cassidy shrank down nervously.
“Come with me,” King Luci replied.
Cassidy nodded her head obediently and bid Natalie goodbye. She followed the king out of the kitchen.
~.~
The king and Cassidy stepped out of the kitchen.
“You know, since King Dice has been reporting all the great efforts you made of keeping the castle spotless and giving new tourists a grand welcome, there is one special favor I need you to do for me,” King Luci replied to Cassidy.
“Of course. What do you need me to do?” Cassidy asked.
King Luci led her up the stairs and towards his room. “I need you to clean my study. I don’t trust many servants in this castle. Including you. But, since Dice has spoke highly of you and trusts you, I thought I would let you do the cleaning instead of me. Now, here are a few rules when it comes to cleaning my study.” He pushed the doors opened and guided her through his spotless room full of red colored floors and bed sheets, and velvet curtains on one side of the room.
King Luci opened the velvet curtains to reveal a wall reflecting both the maid and the king. “Rule number one, you do not touch anything.”
He used his hand to open the wall magically. The wall slid to the left, revealing the king’s study that Chalice was talking about. Cassidy gasped in fascination to see all the potions and the neat inventions to help create potions.
He moved objects around telepathetically and placed them on the empty shelves high up so that she could clean the dusty counters properly. “Rule number two, don’t drink the potions. Unless you have a wish to die, then by all means drink them.”
She looked out the window to see the entire city of Inkwell Isles below them. Her smile brightened when she looked out to the beautiful city.
He used his mind powers to move the books to the shelves. “Rule number three, and this is the most important of them all.”
She glanced up at the king, who gave her a firm stare.
“Whatever you do, even when you are cleaning it, don’t ever open the black door,” he replied while pointing at the black door at the corner of the room. “Unless you have a death wish, I suggest you to never go through the door. Do you get all of these rules?”
Cassidy nodded her head. “Yes, your Majesty.”
“Good. Now, I trust King Dice more than I trust you. If he speaks highly of you, that means you must have some value. Oh, and if you ever want to get out, there’s a lift for you to take since you don’t have the magic to open the door. Now get to it,” King Luci demanded while walking out of the room, the door closing behind him.
Cassidy sighed and looked around the study. She glanced up at the ceiling to notice nothing up there. Without wasting anymore time, she began cleaning the dusty counter with a rag from her pocket.
It was only thirty minutes later of deep cleaning the king’s study as she finally got to the black door. She wiped the dust off of the black door, intriguing her curiosity. But she should know better than to be—
Her thoughts interrupted when the door opened automatically. She yelped and stepped back in fear, feeling nothing than heat coming from down the stairs. The smell of brimstone infiltrated her nose. Now her curiosity grew stronger.
“Unless you have a death wish, I suggest you never go through the door.”
Cassidy’s ears twitched and looked around the king’s study. She could hear screaming from below. Her heart raced. Someone might be in trouble down there. She rushed down the stairs without thinking about it. Down the stairs, the heat really started to make her sweat. She might as well be in an oven since the heat was rising the more she stepped down the stairs.
Cassidy finally made it to the bottom of the stairs, but she could see that there were…demons? Demons were walking through the pathways of this strange place. She really wasn’t supposed to be down there. Now many questions filled her head, but she snuck through the new place. She kept hearing screams and went towards the sound, realizing that it came from the lake of fire. She saw many people burning in the lake, trying to crawl out but the demons always pushed back into the fire.
For the first time, she felt nothing but fear. She wanted to jump in and help them out of the lake fire, but what if they dragged her in there with them? She was too deep to go back to the surface. She glanced up and noticed a glimmering silver giant vault at the other side of the lake of fire.
She snuck around the lake and approached the vault. Cassidy opened the vault and it swung open. It revealed the souls of all the people in the Inkwell Isles who had given wishes to King Luci. She noticed Porkrind’s soul along with her mother’s and Jerry’s. She reached for them and noticed an orb within their souls. She looked into them and saw that her mother was singing her heart out, Jerry was entertaining a group of kids with his shows, and Porkrind was having more customers at his shop.
She glanced up to see her father’s soul, who was also a red-feline like her and her mother.
“Dad?” Cassidy recognized, feeling tears edging out of her eyes. She started to breathe heavily. Unbeknownst to her, a tall figure with bigger horns loomed over her.
“So, you do have a death wish,” a familiar voice growled.
Cassidy whirled around and gasped to find the king in his true form. A charcoal-furred demon with glowing ruby eyes and sharp fangs gritted together.
“You’ve been stealing their souls,” Cassidy said with her voice croaked.
The demon king yanked the red feline out of the soul vault and shut the door. She started to tremble in fear for her life.
“I told you to not open that door!” the demon king growled, sharpening his talons in a ready to strike her.
“I’m sorry! I’m sorry!” she cried, her body trembling more. “Please, I won’t tell anyone! I swear!”
“You swear?”
“Yes! I won’t say a word to anyone about it! Not even to my family and my friends! Please! Don’t kill me!”
“How pitiful. Look at you. So small and begging for your life.”
She closed her eyes, awaiting her death until she heard a fist pounding against the wall. She opened her eyelids to see the demon’s fist pounding on the wall.
“Consider this mercy,” the demon king growled. “But you are not cleaning my study again. And you won’t say a word to anyone about this. If you do, you won’t be the only one who suffers. I have your family’s souls…I’m sure you don’t want to know what I will do to them if you tell anyone in your family. And as for your little group of friends, I’ll have to take their wishes sooner than when they’ve become of age. Am I understood?”
She nodded her head fearfully.
“Good. Now why don’t we get you cleaned? Don’t want to walk around the ceremony smelling like brimstone, now do we?”
Cassidy nodded her head again in agreement this time, but her eyes were stuck wide in fear.
~.~
Cassidy had to convince herself that she was okay, but she had a terrible poker face.
She smelled like lavender after the demon king offered her a shower to hide away any suspicious smells of brimstone. Throughout the ceremony within the golden ballroom of the castle, she tried to fake a smile.
Her friends, who were dressed nice for this occasion like her, noticed the looks on her face. She should’ve known better than to hide anything from them.
Natalie leaned over to Cassidy. “What’s going on, girl? You’re sweating all over the place.”
“I-I’m fine. Just a bit nervous about the ceremony,” Cassidy replied.
Chalice joined in. “You do realize that we only got a few months until we give our wishes to King Luci.”
Cassidy nodded her head. “Yeah, I know. Uh, can’t wait.”
She could herself screaming ‘no’ to them in her head. They didn’t know. They shouldn’t know. But how long could she keep her mouth shut from them? She always tell everything to them. But now there was a reason to keep this from them. She did notice the King Dice had been keeping a special eye on her, gesturing her to smile. King Dice might have known about what his husband really was.
The feline felt sick to her stomach. She looked to notice her mother there with Porkrind and Jerry, looking paler after she realized why they had been pale. Even Bowlboy was pale. His soul might have been taken into that vault too.
“Cassidy,” Natalie’s voice finally snapped her out of her thoughts.
She turned her head sharply to look at her friend.
“You know you can tell me anything, right?” Natalie whispered to the feline.
Cassidy faked a smile. “Everything is fine, Nat. Everything is just fine.”
Natalie didn’t seem convinced, but didn’t push further.
The lights dimmed in the ballroom as the king appeared on stage with a grand smile.
“Welcome, my fellow subjects! I see some new colorful faces here! My name is King Luci. I’m sure you’ve met my wonderful husband, King Dice! I hope you’re getting comfortable here, since this is the happiest place on earth! If any of you have a wish, I be happy to take them from your hands!”
The newly-wed couple that Cassidy gave a tour a while ago came up to the stage excitedly.
“We wish to have a theater!” The blonde woman replied excitedly.
The husband nodded happily in agreement.
“You both have the same wish? Now, isn’t that interesting? Here, let me take them,” King Luci replied, holding his hands out for the couple to grab. The couple grabbed King Luci’s hands respectively. “Now, wish this desire with all of your hearts and souls.”
They did just that…in fact, their souls were being sucked out of them in the orb that was holding their wishes. Once their souls were in the dim blue orbs, the couple’s bodies turned pale.
“Now, how does that feel?” King Luci replied.
“I don’t feel a thing,” the blonde wife responded.
Cassidy witnessed this, silencing her sobs that wanted to spill forth so bad.
Porkrind looked through the crowd to find Cassidy on the verge of breaking down crying, looking at her in concern.

Spiderdemon AU 4
Sorry this took so long guys! My laptop crapped out on me and made doing my hobbies a bit more difficult.
Now that my laptop is working again, BACK TO THE AU!!!
Part 4!!!!
Cuphead and Mugman talk to their boss and make it look like they're trying to get close to Spiderdemon so they can learn more about him and gain his trust. That way they're not risking their necks too much, and can help Bendy save the day without making his life harder by getting in the way of his hero work.
This works for a while. Nothing bad happens right away, Red Diamond and Blue Spade help Spiderdemon save lives, and make sure they're not going to fail college because they stayed up all night fighting crime instead of studying.
And although they're paused, Cuphead doesn't like hearing Pete talk smack about Spiderdemon on the news.
Bendy: .... *glares at Cuphead through his mask, knowing very well Cuphead's smiling behind his* Who's idea was it to throw Pete's car at Wolf? Yours or Venoms?
Cuphead: *indeed smiling behind his mask as Venom laughs* Hey! It got him to stop rampaging through the streets didn't it?
Bendy: You're dodging the question Red Diamond!
Eventually, at one point, The group's luck runs out.
All the details aren't perfect yet, but I was thinking Sarah eventually gets contacted so she can try capturing Spiderdemon.
And since her villain name is Nightmare, and all the stuff she put Bendy through in Inky Mystery, you can imagine Spiderdemon isn't going to have a good time fighting her.
Bendy is put through HELL. Trying his best to fight off whatever she throws at him. Giving everything he's got.
Yet it still wasn't enough.
Cuphead and Mugman then are summoned to assist Dice in something later. Cuphead's already on edge since he and Mugman were looking for Bendy because Boris told him he lost contact with Bendy. Now he was forced to stop looking because Dice needed them for a job.
They're both at first confused when they see a "little girl" with Dice, but then get the chills when they realize she's the legendary Nightmare. Dice telling them she finally achieved what they took too long to do themselves.
Cuphead's stomach drops when they enter a room, seeing Spiderdemon restrained in heavy duty restraints, hurt, clearly exhausted, but thankfully with his mask still on.
Dice taunts Spiderdemon, claiming he was more trouble then he was worth, but at least his boss would be pleased to know who gave all of them a hard time.
Dice then yanks off Spiderdemon's mask.
And jumps back when Spiderdemon shapeshifts his face into his, Spider Demon, face. multiple eyes, black fur, horns, and fangs showing as Spiderdemon hisses at Dice.
Dice, annoyed by that little surprise, tells Spiderdemon he can't hold that look forever. He orders Cuphead and Mugman to guard the room, and works on getting Spiderdemon niiiiiice and tired.
Cuphead clearly hesitates. Before Dice can notice Spiderdemon snaps. "Yeah! Get out you cussing traitors. Like I wanna see those ugly masks right now anyways."
They can clearly tell Bendy's trying to tell them to go, not wanting them to have to watch what Dice is going to do.
So they leave the room and guard outside. Mugman glancing at Cuphead nervously, who's clenched fists would be trembling as they hear Bendy yelling and cussing out Dice as he's torturing him to tire him out. Venom inside Cuphead's head would be growling and snarling in rage.
Dice eventually has to leave, and lets some random minion schmuck take over for him.
When Dice is gone, Cuphead can't cussing take it anymore.
Venom yells at Cup to let him at the cusser as Cuphead bursts into the room and grabs the scum in a choke hold before he can hurt Spiderdemon worse.
Cuphead: Fine, but if you have this cusser Venom, Dice is ALL, MINE.
Venom: ... FINE. You deal with this one. Only because I want to make Dice suffer.
Cuphead does, and when that scum is out of comission, he quickly goes to help Mugman break Spiderdemon out of his restraints, and quickly throws his jacket over Bendy's head. "I gotcha, you can rest now. We'll get you out of here."
Very tired and very hurt, Bendy stops holding his shape shifted form and goes limp in Cuphead's arms once he's free from his restraints.
Cuphead and Mugman's first priority would be getting Bendy the hell out of there. They move quick and as fast as they can. especially when alarms start going off. The alarms hurt Venom and Cuphead, which means Mugman has to carry Bendy as they escape, but both of them are toughening through it, knowing they need to get out of there NOW.
But then they notice movement as they're almost out, they see Dice, and they see the gun pointed right at them.
Cuphead barely shoves Mugman out of the way, sparing him and Bendy from getting hurt.
Mugman screams and Bendy watches in horror as Cuphead collapses. Dice then aims his gun at them.
BENDY, SEES, RED.
He shapeshifts into his big spider demon form and goes cussing WILD! taking whatever he can get his claws on and throwing it at Dice and the people coming after them. When it's safe, Bendy grabs Cuphead and Mugman and gets the hell out of there.
Now at this point, Alice would be free from working for dangerous people thanks to Bendy (though she still has big mechanical wings stuck to her back) and be his go-to medic.
So imagine her alarm when Bendy in his big Spider Demon form charges into her house like a spooked wild animal, Mugman on his back, and unconscious Cuphead in his arms, bleeding a LOT.
Alice gets to work, quickly.
As she's busy, Mugman calls Boris for help because Bendy's surprisingly still in his big demon form and acting like an agitated cornered animal. He won't listen to a word he's saying and isn't calming down.
Boris, feeling like he kinda doesn't have a lot of options now, goes to Felix, coming clean about EVERYTHING.
Felix takes Boris and quickly rushes to Alice's. When they see Bendy it's clearly, very alarming, for Felix to see Bendy like this. But he acts fast, and calms Bendy down enough where he can turn back to normal. Assuring him he's safe now, and things will be okay.
When back to his human form, Felix quickly does first aid on Bendy, and when he's patched up he lays him down on Alice's couch.
It helps that Felix knew Bendy's spiderdemon before he was told the truth, but it is still alarming that Boris had to come clean because Bendy's hurt.
Felix then turns to Mugman, giving him a very firm look. "What, happened."
For now, Mugman tells Felix what happened, and they all patiently wait for Bendy to wake up and for Alice to be done working.
When Bendy's awake and is told Cuphead's going to be okay, Alice saving his life right on time, he, Boris and Felix have a serious talk. They all agree no more hero secrets, Felix offers to help whenever they need him, and if they ever try hiding something like this from him ever again and they come home half dead their butts are GROUNDED FOR A YEAR
Cuphead eventually wakes up, seeing Bendy sitting next to his bed, and petting Venom who, though tired and weak, brought his head out to keep Bendy company as they waited for him. He'd try sitting up but Venom would make him stay laying down.
Venom: Stay down. The pretty woman that looks like an angel doesn't need blood all over her bed because you reopened your wounds before I could properly heal you.
Cuphead: Cuss you I want to kiss my boyfriend!
Bendy: *blushes* ... I thought our relationship was paused.
Cuphead: yeah well I'm un-cussing-pausing!! You got tortured, I got shot! I think we both cussing need this!!
Bendy stares, before busting out laughing (as well as groaning from how laughing kinda hurts atm), then brushes Cuphead's hair out of the way and gives him a kiss they both need.
After that, things are as okay as they can be.
Cuphead and Mugman are forced to drop out of college. too dangerous for them to go out as civilians anymore. They now have to hide and look over their shoulders because they ticked off the Devil BIG TIME. So Bendy and Cuphead can't be seen together as civilians.
Red Diamond and Blue Spade though help out Spiderdemon as often as they can to stop the Devil in whatever he has planned.
Though now that they're back on good dating terms, Bendy kinda spoils Venom.
Like when he and Cuphead are chilling in each other's arms watching a movie, Venom's head would come out so he can rest on Bendy's lap and Bendy gives him head scratches while slipping him some popcorn.
Cuphead: ... Should I be worried about you liking him more than me?
Venom: *sticks his tongue out at Cuphead*
Bendy: *laughs* Aaaaw, does the tough former assassin need head scratches too?
Bendy also helps Cuphead keep Venom under control when he's getting hangry.
Spiderdemon: VENOM!
Venom: WHAT?!
Spiderdemon: We talked about this! Put the stupid cusser down! All he did was steal someone's groceries from their unattended shopping cart!
Venom: I'm, HUNGRY!
Spiderdemon: And I told you we'd get bacon tater tots after patrol! Besides, this scumbag smells like he hasn't bathed in days. You really want to eat THAT or something more appealing?
Venom: .... FINE. *throws the guy he was about to eat into the closest dumpster*
Spiderdemon: *shakes his head and pats Venom's back* Good Venom. Let's go before the cops show up and complain about how much that guy's going to stink up their car.
Oh, and we also need a spiderman kiss in this au.
Bendy gets tangled in his own webs, and Cuphead laughs at him as he helps him get untangled.
But he pauses, smirks, tugs their masks out of the way, and steals a kiss.
Bendy: … Proud of yourself? Cuphead: Yes, yes I am.
And that wraps up what I currently came up with for the spiderdemon AU. I hope you all enjoyed! Feel free to ask questions if you have any. :)

Well, hello cuphead fandom, LET ME IN PLEASE!! Anyway, I was kind of reluctant to post this, but I want to see how it goes, so consider this the start of an au and as you can see, it looks like king dice has a squire in this AU
giving a basic explanation, this is kiara, after having an "accident", she ended up having an encounter with the devil along with king dice in hell, so that the girl is not just a soul wandering through hell, the devil along with king dice they made a deal with Kiara, that she could come back to life, but she would have to work forever at the casino being King Dice's squire the rest of you can already imagine what happens HAHA
but believe me, there is a LOT involving these two more than this basic story
so I hope you enjoyed the beginning of this AU! <3

Here's the info for this blog, just a little Cuphead au I've had laying around in my head
Background info: During their battle against the devil, the brothers noticed they were more unprepared than they originally thought. Cuphead -being the one to always lead the way- decides to go through the battle anyways and ends up losing Mugman in the process. By the time he noticed his brother's dissappearance, it was far to late. Cuphead ends up losing to the devil but won't back down. He's in a panicked yet angered state, he doesn't know what to do, what to feel, what to think.. He's lost his brother. His best friend. What was he to do now..?
The devil sees this and quickly takes advantage of this new information. He decides to bait the very distracted Cuphead into a little deal. His soul for his brother's life. "You can have the little blue one back for a small price.. that being you will work for me. To continue collecting contracts for me.." Cuphead accepts this deal with no hesitation or acknowledgement of the horrid consequences..
"The day your brother sees you as the monster you've become, will be the day you 2 brawl to the death. If he is to survive, Inkwell will be safe from me and your soul will "possibly" be set free. But if you are to prevail.. you'll both belong to me.. and he will suffer through my hell for all eternity.. alone..." -NightmareP.

Devil Dad AU
This post is gonna be super long so I’m gonna go ahead and put a read more, this is basically a summary of the AU
At the end of Sweater Luck Next Time, the Devil decided not to mention it when he noticed that Cuphead wasn’t wearing the sweater
This led to Mugman giving the sweater to Cuphead instead of throwing it on the Devil
The Devil was called back to Hell to deal with rogue imps before they could get on the ride
When Henchman asked why the Devil didn’t take his chance when Cuphead didn’t have the sweater he said it was so their plan didn’t go to waste (the truth is that he was hoping he’d get interrupted so he didn’t have to take Cuphead’s soul when they had been getting along so well)
Time skip to Dirt Nap, when Cuphead and Mugman got done burying their worm they didn’t see the piano wire at the door and they both tripped on it
Mugman was able to catch himself but Cuphead tripped into one of the bear traps
Mugman ran to help him and heard Elder Kettle enter the room
When he turns around to ask for help Elder Kettle hits him in the head with a baseball bat, chipping the rim of his mug and leaving him with a crack through his eye
Mugman realizes that Elder Kettle must have set up the traps and steps in front of Cuphead to try and protect him
This is about when the Devil shows up
The Devil thought that he was over feeling bad for Cuphead and decided it was time to try and take his soul again
When he showed up and heard the cups screaming he slammed open the door and was appalled to see the kettle who he thought was taking care of them attacking them instead
The Devil lunges at Kettle and they fight
Kettle is able to get a few good hits in and cracks the Devil’s horns but the Devil overtakes him
“If you EVER come near either of these cups again I will smash you into dust”
The Devil got the kids into a hellevator so he could help them
Mugman wa super weary of him but Cuphead sort of trusted him after spending time together in line for The Obliterator
Henchman was waiting at the bottom of the elevator to ask the Devil if he was able to get Cuphead’s soul when he saw the cups in the hellevator with him
The Devil told him to set up a room for the cups to sleep in
Henchman was very confused but figured that the Devil would tell him what happened later and goes to do what he said
The Devil lead them to the kitchen so he could give Cuphead somewhere to sit and put some ice on Mugman’s eye
He helps Cuphead sit on the counter and Mugman climbs up next to him
The Devil gives Mugman an icepack for his eye and warns the cups that they would probably have to deal with imps a lot while they’re down here (that’s you guys!)
That’s about all I have right now, I’ll probably rewrite this to be more cohesive later. I wanted to put this up so that the AU has some context but I got my wisdom teeth out yesterday so I’m bonkers on pain meds. Asks are open if you wanna send anything in

Quomodo Mundus Cadit - Chapter 1
The defeat of the Devil should have been the end of it. The Cup Brothers won and all debts were to be forgiven.
At least...that was the original plan. No one was expecting the world to fall apart. Whatever was contained in the Devil was not unleashed onto the world. Now it's up to two powerless children, a dice with no title, and a immortal being with no powers to fix what's become broken.
(Story idea inspired by artwork created by @inazumaneko)
Fandom: The Cuphead Show/Cuphead Rating: Teen and Up Audiences Relationships: Cuphead & Mugman & The Devil & King Dice, The Devil/King Dice Warnings/Additional Tags: Lots of Characters, Violence, Blood, Sacrifice, People are gonna die, Death, Elder Kettle is in this but won’t appear for awhile, AU, Inspired by Tumblr, End of the World.
Cuphead wasn’t sure what he was expecting when the Devil was defeated. Granted, he wasn’t sure if he and his brother would even be able to defeat the Lord of Sin. But they did. From the borrowed power that Elder Kettle gave them, the Cup Brothers were able to bring the Devil down. The physical being of evil let out a shriek of pain as Mugman landed the final blow.
But instead of falling as Cuphead expected, the Devil seemed to convulse in agony. The young cup quickly pulled Mugman behind him as the Devil’s skin started to crack. Instead of the white light they saw before, putrid looking gas, thick and a sickly green, started to pour from said openings. The Devil finally stopped moving after a few seconds, finally collapsing to the ground when he seemed fully emptied. The escaped gas twitching and spazzing as it hung in the air. The brother’s eyes darted between the fallen form and the new blockade. Unsure what was happening or what was coming next.
“C-Cuphead?” Mugman whispered, clearly fearful of what they’d just witnessed.
“I know, I see it too.” Unsure of what to do and still running on adrenaline, Cuphead took aim and fired at the violently twitching gas.
That, apparently, was the wrong thing to do. The gas actually let out a shriek (with what mouth?) of rage before launching itself at the brothers.
Unprepared for this, the brothers were unable to think of a way out. Weren’t even able to move before they were consumed. Fully enveloped in the gas, Cuphead was unable to see, breath, or even move. Feeling as if his entire body was on fire as something seemed to claw at him. Attempting to dig its way into his very soul.
Only for his soul to fight back.
In a blinding flash of light, whatever had been attacking him had become fearful and fled. Out of the hole that the brothers had previously used to descend further into Hell to confront the Devil. The aftermath of the sudden attack left Cuphead feeling the weakest he’d ever felt before. Unable to stop himself from collapsing. Hearing a painful cry as no doubt Mugman followed close behind.
Cuphead held a brief thought of ‘What was that?’ before consciousness left him.
When he woke, Cuphead was unsure how much time had passed. It was painful to move. A deep ache throbbing through him, even his soul was sore. The young cup let out grunts and groans as he slowly sat up. Covered with gashes and deep bruises, a deep pain in his chest making it difficult to breathe. As he ran his hands carefully over himself to find any further damage he couldn’t see, Cuphead blanched upon finding his handle gone. Breathing became erratic as he frantically looked around for the broken piece. But it was gone. Either completely crumbled away or hidden away among the rubble.
Cuphead’s panic for himself fell away hearing Mugman let out a small moan. Turning to face his brother who was slowly sitting up. “M-Mugman? Mugsy, are you okay?”
He quickly scrambled (or as quickly as his sore body could move) over to his brother’s side when he didn’t get a reply.
Mugman looked as terrible as Cuphead felt. Just as his brother, Mugman was covered in deep cuts and bruises. The mug wincing as he attempted to put weight on his right hand. However, the largest shock came when the mug faced Cuphead. A crack, starting right below Mugman’s right eye, made its way up and feathered out as it reached the lip of the rim. Some pieces clearly missing.
 “C-Cuphead?” Mugman voiced weakly, “I…I can’t see… I-I can’t open my eye.”
“It’s okay Mugsy, i-it’s gonna be okay.”
 “Why can’t I see?!”
Cuphead’s panic grew as Mugman’s jerky movements caused some smaller pieces to fall away. “C-Calm down Mugman! It’s okay, y-you’re okay…”
The cup held the mug as he had a meltdown. Unsure of how to calm down someone who was now missing an eye.
It took awhile to calm Mugman down enough to try and collect as many pieces they could find before gluing them back. Cuphead was thankful that they had a giant tube of it in their bag. But even with as meticulous as the cup was being, Mugman couldn’t fully recover. Not all of the pieces were located since all of it looked so similar among the destruction. Which caused another wave of weak sobs bubbling up.
 Cuphead was frustrated.
 Mugman was broken.
It was unclear how long they sat there, but they eventually decided it was time to finally start moving. It was slow going. Both extremely sore while Mugman was also trying to not have the freshly glued pieces suddenly fall back out. As they reached the top, they found the Devil’s office appearing to be dead. No fire, no demons, no signs of any movement. Cuphead found it strange how damaged it all appeared to be. He would have thought the place had been abandoned for years to have it at this state of decay.
 How long were they out?
Another punch to the gut arrived when the brothers left the Casino area. The city was in absolute ruin. If Cuphead had to guess, he would say a bomb had gone off over the place. Except he doubted it could ever reach this much destruction to such a wide area. Buildings were in ruin, there were no signs of movement. No life anywhere. No people, no plants, nothing. All of the color seemed to be wiped away. Leaving shades of gray and brown with a sky painted a blood red.
Cuphead felt Mugman gripped his arm, shaking weakly. “What…happened?”
He really wished he could answer.
“Come on, we need to get home. Elder Kettle will know what to do.” Cuphead wasn’t sure how he could sound so confident.
But he now had a silently sobbing younger brother, who was desperately clinging to him as they walked through a destroyed city. While he was also feeling like he was drowning in dread, Cuphead needed to be strong for Mugman. Keeping his head high and reaching over to grip one of Mugman’s hand. He kept his face straight as they headed back.
Back home. Back through the path they’d only recently taken to fight for their souls.
Their first meeting with others did not go so well. A small group of rather random people, huddled around a small fire. A look of deranged desperation to remain alive on this dying dirt in their eye. The brothers had barely given a greeting when the group attacked them. Brandishing anything and everything they could grab as they rushed the brothers down.
Which brought upon another sickening realization as, when Cuphead went to take aim, he found his power gone. The familiar build up of power never happened.
 They were just kids again.
They immediately turned and fled. Desperately trying to lose their attacker and to find a place to hide. Losing their pursuers among the rubble of multiple buildings, ducking down to make themselves as small as possible. Hearts hammering at the footsteps thankfully passed by. As soon as they knew they were alone and ‘safe’, Mugman broke down again. Cuphead instantly rushed over to collect the pieces. Literally and figuratively.
“Hey, hey Mugsy, it’s okay.” Cuphead whispered desperately. Wiping away the single trail of tears while digging through the bag to locate the glue. “It’s okay, we’re gonna be okay.”
“I wanna go home!” Mugman wailed, “I want Elder Kettle! Why did they attack us? I hate this!”
“I-I know, I know. I don’t know why they attacked us. I-I just… We’ll be home soon enough and Elder Kettle will tell us what’s going on. But we need to keep it together until we get home, okay?”
 “...O-Okay.”
Cuphead gave a weak smile. “Just keep being brave, Mugsy. It’ll all work out in the end.”
He wished he could believe his own words.
It took over a week for them to finally make it back to Inkwell Isle One. The damage they saw in the city seemed to have spread beyond Isle Three, but didn’t seem as bad as said Isle. It was terrible, but at least the structures were still standing. Didn’t make seeing the charged foliage that turned to ash when the brother brushed by feel any better. Or the number of ‘lost in their minds’ people they came across. All of it still feels like it’s fallen into a deranged state of living. A clear establishment of you save yourself and take down everyone in their way. Nothing was supposed to survive.
The entire time, Cuphead kept his head up. Making sure to keep him and Mugman hidden and away from everyone. Giving his brother the food they found and only eating what remained. Constantly keeping an eye on the cracks, making sure to glue back whatever fell out.
A bittersweet feeling fell over them when they finally reached Isle One. While they were finally home, it looked just as ruined as the rest of the land they’ve seen. The grass was gone, filled with cracked dirt. The trees become long gnarled branches, appearing like claws. Reaching out in a desperate search for life. They ran into no one as they entered the dead forest that surrounded their home. The Isle dead and quiet.
“We’ll be okay Mugsy,” Cuphead quickly said, hearing a whimper behind him, “We’ll be okay. We’re almost home. We’ll get to see Elder Kettle again and he’ll hug us and tell us everything we’ll be okay. He’ll know what happened and what we’ll need to do next.”
 “Cuphead…”
“I promise, it’ll be okay! No need to fret.”
 “Cuphead.”
 “Nothing to worry about!”
 “C-Cuphead!”
The cup faltered slightly by the outburst. Turning back to his fearful looking brother. “What’s wrong?”
 “The house.”
“The house? What, are we at the-” Cuphead faced forward, heart sinking. “Oh…the house…”
It was in ruin, much like everything else they’d seen. But this was damage done by hands, pulled apart instead of crumbling. The yard was filled with garbage and debris. Grass gone, the usually lively garden turned to dust. The fence left in bits and chunks along the familiar perimeter. The door was completely gone, hinges and all, with the visible windows shattered. Walking in did not raise their hope. Everything had been ransacked. Every piece of furniture was overturned, destroyed, or cleared out. The stairwell leading to the second floor was dark. Seeming to have become a void of emptiness. Nothing was left alone.
 It was all still quiet.
Cuphead winced as he stepped on some broken pieces of china that littered the floor. Eyes scanning the damage as he tried to find something to save.
“Elder Kettle!” Mugman’s shout broke the silence. Causing Cuphead to jump, rushing over to cover his brother’s mouth.
“What are you doing?” The cup whispered frantically.
 “Trying to find Elder Kettle-”
“Mugsy, it’s way too quiet to just shout! We could draw attention-”
 “But you said-”
 “I know! I know, I know what I said.”
“We need to find Elder Kettle.”
“I know, but we need to be quiet in case someone’s here.”
“But-” Whatever the retort was going to say fell away. Fear returned to Mugman’s eyes as he focused on something behind his brother.
Heart hammering seeing the fear, Cuphead slowly turned.
From the darkened stairwell leading up to the second floor, yellow eyes peered down at them from the darkness. Cuphead got a fleeting moment of fear thinking that the Devil had somehow followed them home. They quickly stepped back as a gnarled tree hand emerged from the shadows. Gripping onto the banister as the rest followed. An elder tree-being, holding the only green foliage the brother’s had seen during that week, descended the stairs. Leaves falling to appear as wild hair and a beard while their bark was an ashened white that seemed to be flaking off.
As they fully entered the living room, they stared down at the shaking brothers.
“Do…you live here?” The tree asked when it was clear the brother’s were going to talk. Their voice deep and gravely. Eventually, Cuphead nodded. “Ah…I apologize for intruding. This house was abandoned when I came across it.”
“When?” Mugman weakly asked. Clearly wanting to continue, but wasn’t able to get more out.
“A few days ago… I would say about three days.”
 “T-Three days?” Cuphead added weakly.
 “Yes.”
“D-Did you see anyone else here? Anyone at all?”
The tree-being shook their head. “I’m sorry, but no.”
Instantly, Mugman let out a series of small whimpers. Hiccuping as he let himself fall to his knees, clearly giving up the fight. Cuphead instantly turned to try and comfort while he himself was close to breaking. This was their last show of any semblance of stability. A final hope that someone else would be able to make sense of any of this.
Instead, Cuphead was standing in their destroyed home. Their caretaker was missing. With a brother who was physically, mentally, and emotionally broken. Tears streamed down both their faces as Mugman whimpered and Cuphead remained silent. Cuphead couldn’t even hold his brother close to comfort in fear of Mugman's crack becoming strained and would become further damaged.
Chest heaving in desperation to try and calm down, Cuphead jumped when something crinkled. Looking over to find the tree-being holding out a package of their favorite treats towards them. The being had apparently left towards the kitchen to get them something to eat. Probably in hopes to make them feel somewhat better. Cuphead took it, calming Mugman enough to eat some of the food. They ate in silence as the tree-being sat nearby with their knees tucked under their chin.
“I’m sorry I couldn’t give you better news.” The tree-being eventually said, after the brother finished eating and had calmed down somewhat.
“So, why are you here?” Cuphead asked.
“Shelter mainly. It has been left alone since I arrived. Others who have come across this place believe nothing remains inside and pass by.”
“And you saw…no one when you arrived?”
“You’re the first two to enter this house while I’ve been here.”
Mugman sniffed weakly, rubbing his eye. “...What’s your name?”
 “I am Woodford. You?”
“I’m Mugman and this is my brother Cuphead.”
“Well met you two. I do wish this meeting was under better circumstances.”
“Can you tell us what happened?”
Woodford tilted his head in curiosity. “Have…you not seen the calamity that’s befallen the Isles?”
“We have. We just don’t understand what caused all of this.”
It took awhile for a reply. “It was a rather large event. I’m sure you know where the Devil’s Casino is located?”
 The brother’s nodded.
“Several days ago, the Isles shook violently. A vile substance erupted from the Casino, an unnatural noise sounding from it before it attacked. …I suppose attack is the right thing to say. While I wasn’t there when Isle Three fell, I could still hear the screams…”
“The same substance then arrived at Isle Two. It seemed to suck the life out of anything it touched. If you weren’t able to hide away, you were instantly turned to dust. Whatever was touched seemed to spread this deathly illness, spreading like a plague. Life seemed to just disappear. The gas disappeared to Isle One after a few hours.”
“When I thought it was clear to move away from Isle Two, I made a break for Isle One. I foolishly thought, or was overly hopeful, that I would find sanctuary here. Only to arrive just as life seemed to crumble away as well. That substance, whatever it was, just stole life wherever it went. I…I believe it’s gone now. Or at the very least it’s no longer here.”
 “It just…disappeared?” Cuphead asked.
“I believe that’s the best term for it. However, I don’t know where it could have possibly gone. Something like that…I doubt it could just fully disappear.”
“Is this thing the reason why we haven’t seen that many people?” Mugman asked.
“I would say yes. With the way the world currently is, those who haven’t already been lost are scavenging what they can to survive. Those who have more flesh or foliage based in their structure won’t be long for this world I’m afraid.”
 “W-Why do you say that?”
“The dirt doesn’t allow anything to grow. I haven’t been able to feed for days. The sun has disappeared. There’s nothing on this dying planet that can save itself. Any salvageable grown food has been lost or stolen and already consumed. There’s nothing here to help keep this place alive.”
“B-But you’re still here!” Cuphead said, sounding very desperate. “You’re still standing.”
 Woodford nodded. “That I am…”
 “Could you-”
“Child, whatever you are going to request, I must decline.”
 “But-”
“While I’ve been able to survive for as long as I have, it is merely by sheer luck. I have no sun or nutrition to feed from. I…I will be of no help.”
 Cuphead swallowed weakly. “Oh…Okay…”
“I will remain the night. But I suggest that you two pack up what you can tomorrow and leave before it becomes too light outside. Avoid whomever you can and flee to a better place if you can find one.”
The brothers gave a nervous look to each other. Clearly uncomfortable with what the future held. Woodford reached over to pluck a quilt off the ground. Shaking it a bit to get a majority of the dust and debris off before wrapping it around the brothers.
“I can’t give you the words of comfort that you’re looking for. All we can do now is rest for the night and jump into action tomorrow morning. But for now, we sleep.”
They didn’t argue. Instead, Cuphead moved him and his brother to lie against the partially destroyed couch. Making sure Mugman was comfortable and both were covered before trying to sleep himself. At some point, he must have done so as when Cuphead opened his eyes again it was brighter outside. Mugman was resting against his brother, still fast asleep.
 Woodford wasn’t there.
Making sure not to wake Mugman, Cuphead slipped away, careful to maneuver his brother to lean against the couch. Rubbing his eyes, he surveyed the room once more. Realizing the front door was opened just a crack. Deciding Woodford had merely stepped outside, Cuphead turned to packing the supplies they could carry.
Mugman eventually woke up and followed in his brother’s footsteps. Food, clothing, healing supplies, everything they could think of. It was also decided to carry a few memorabilia with them. A photo of them with Elder Kettle. Potions that carried the symbols their missing guardian said belong to something called the Calix Animi. A book that carried the same symbol. Finally, Cuphead grabbed the sword from the wall that Elder Kettle once carried into battle.
 “Cuphead…” Mugman said uneasily.
“To defend ourselves, nothing more, I promise!” Mugman still didn’t seem put at ease by this answer. But didn’t respond further. When it was determined they couldn’t carry more, they settled up and headed out the door.
Laying outside in the front lawn was Woodford. Eyes closed and unmoving, form completely stiff. The leaves had fallen off and turned to ash around him. Branches as bare and gnarled as his fallen brothers surrounding him.

-----------------
it seems that scene is really REALLY popular by fans,
that it has become a meme....I just had to draw it.
sure I can’t make it into animatic, but this is just as good.
I do plan to post this at the other place I go to.
but I think I will wait until later to do it, maybe a hour or so.
the word “Patty-Cake” seem like a good word to put down.
playing patty-cake can be personal to toons.
so yeah I am using the word as a censor for the real word
that is used and well even if I have only seen little bit of clips,
and seen the animatic crossover of the Captain’s Daughter.
I hope to watch the full movie someday.
as for who the Angel (with demon horns headband on to hide the fact she isn’t a demon.) is in this drawing.
she is suppose to be Devil’s Daughter and King Dice’s Step-Daughter.
and no she doesn’t have a Mom,
and the Devil didn’t just create her on purpose.
ya see when a Soul, even a former Angel like Devil,
they can go through a fragmenting, where a piece of their Soul
will break off from their very being and make what is called
a newborn soul, if there are two souls about to fragment
a part of themselves then the two fragments will merge together,
making the newborn soul that is formed have two Soul-Parents instead of one.
so yes the daughter in this drawing
was born Soul-Asexually.
and I know I said this before
but I will say it again, that the Asexual Reproduction
should not be confused for the Asexual Identity,
even if you only use the word “Asexual”
and could mean one or the other, it is best to be clear so there is no misunderstandings.
speaking of identities, I wonder if it is normal to form
a type of Species Identity?
is it weird the other day ago
I started to think of myself being Demi-Human...?
well with the soul/spiritual heritage I have,
I guess I would still be a Demi-Human either way.
I mean try to hope that me having Vampire heritage was just a prank,
but my pendulum gave another Yes about it,
went Yes again when I asked if my spiritual heritage
is Earth Angel & Succubus.
well spiritual heritage is something you are stuck with for life,
even when you end up being reborn, it will be stuck with you for eternity.
at least I was given a No when I asked if I have werewolf heritage.
but it be cool if it did give me a Yes about that question.
it did give a Yes when I asked if my Older Brother has werewolf heritage, so if I had to guess, if he supposedly has it,
it would most likely be from his dad.
my pendulum did give a Yes when I asked if my Brother
has Vampire heritage too, and another Yes when I asked if it comes from our Mom.
so if my pendulum isn’t pranking,
that would mean that my brother is like Vampire/Werewolf.
well I know I wouldn’t want to go all drinking the same thing as the full vampires....no thank you.
plus I do like garlic sauce and find it really yummy,
and I have a reflection.
well, even if I am some kind of descendant of some unknown vampire
ancestor (unless it is my and Vlad The Impaler’s shared paternal ancestor, who’s two wives make us distant half-cousins.)
that would only be my biological heritage, my vessel form.
like I said the spiritual heritage is something you are stuck with...
for life and eternity.
at least I got permission to go live with the Divine Mother/Goddess
over at Earth-Heaven/Neo-Heaven...
because of what I am, I don’t think I would fit in very well...
I know one thing, if it is true that the 9 Circles of Heck
is in the 5th Heaven, then people might not take it very well.
I think I want to see that as a Fan-Headcanon for Hazbin Hotel.
of course it might only be Fan-Canon to a AU of it.
plus hypothetically let’s say that it is true
that the Circles/Rings of Heck/Hell is in the 5th Heaven,
and is in Hazbin Hotel/Helluva Boss.
wouldn’t that mean that Charlie doesn’t know that her subjects,
both demon-born and former human/sinner-demon,
are technically already in heaven, they are just in the 5th part of it,
but are inside a type of Ring Prison.
wouldn’t that blow one’s mind if that turned out to be canon.
but I don’t think that would be added into those two shows.
but it would still be good and interest for Fanon-AU use.
some stuff that fans come up and theorize,
wont always be canon to the series and that’s fine.
well Starco ended up becoming 100% Canon.
which I think if things turned out different, Star could of ended up with Tom because of that vote/poll.......pretty sure that had something to do with Star and Marco ending up together in the very end.
also while playing Yandere Simulator the other day,
I had figured out that it is a bad idea to take a ring...
cause if you don’t put it in Osana’s bag
or keep it and then try to leave Akademi,
you will get in big trouble, so if you are trying for a Pacifist Route
and only want to befriend Osana and try to get her to be with Kyuji,
then do NOT take that ring that you will find on the rooftop
next to one of those two purple haired sisters.
I had to start all over because of that, of course I still have the save where I fully beat Osana and it now says that the new rival is Amai.
so right now I have two saves, and in the new save I wanted to try to save Osana’s cat and try to get her and Kyuji together.
so far Kyuji has changed himself to look like Osana’s dream guy,
I just hope me leading him to the library and getting him to study,
had helped....
of course when I did help him talk to Osana while hiding behind a tree,
I had to re-send that letter to Osana and tell her about it again,
because when I was waiting behind the school, she was a bit late.
so yeah I had to leave the place and go and send the letter again
and then I had to tell her about it again.
interesting to know, that before I went to save her cat,
I got the blonde hair dye first (from using Ayano’s computer.)
and then when I ended up at the Stalker’s place,
Ayano’s hair was blonde, so that was fast.
and it was still nighttime in the game too.
I also decided to join the cooking club,
I think if I am a part of the cooking club it might make it more easy
to try to talk to Amai, at least I can only hope it does.
each time I tried to talk to her in my other save,
she just couldn’t and was busy.
in my other save I am in the Music Club.
when I make another save, I want to try to join a different club.
I am taking a bit of a break from playing the game right now,
I will play more of it later.
I do have a theory about Fun-Girl from Yandere Simulator,
I can’t help but think of her being a like Gaster.
I even did a crossover drawing of Fun-Girl and Gaster.
I will post it up on here too, and also post it over at the other place I go to as well.
anyway back to this drawing, it is a crossover
and it is a reference to that 22 Jump Street Movie,
which once again I hope to watch someday.
and yeah Cuphead is holding a cross, for obvious reasons.
Mugman is of course is still thinking and processing
what Snake-Eyes are talking about.
well we know how it will end up,
and Mugman is going to be very amused.
I don’t really feel like drawing that, so it’s fine that it is just this.
the OC in this drawing, in the role of the daughter,
might end up being a one-shot character...
if someone wants to do a continue drawing response to this drawing,
like make a short comic or animation of it, I guess I be okay with it...
but the likely of someone drawing a continue/comic version of this,
is perhaps very little and not likely to happen.
but at least I enjoyed drawing this.
I think sometime I will post a song I wrote a few years ago,
when I was in a very dark place, I was happy to find out that it survived
after what happen in March this year....
it is something I put some very personal feelings down in the song.
also it’s okay that not many agree with me having a species identity,
I mean if I am Aroaceflux, Gyno-Agender and Demi-Human,
then that’s just makes me, well, me.
even if it it did take me time to figure that out.
I just figured out this year on the Month of May,
that I started to see myself as a Demi-Human.
sometime I should draw three flags
that has to do with the Sexuality, Gender and Species Identities.
also I need to point out that I have added a certain site
to my list of Semi-Misanthrope.
first I want to say that I have nothing against Jesus,
but that  Jesus-Is-Savior site.......
it is just....I can’t stand it, Rock’N Roll ain’t evil,
I mean there can be mature rock, but there are different forms of music.
and even if someone is homosexual or homoromantic,
outside the human body and at the core of the soul,
we may appear Masculine or Feminine, but the soul doesn’t have a biological sex/gender, and has no organic binary.
plus if a man did like other man in his present life,
were to be reborn as a woman in his next life and still like men in her new life where she is reborn as a woman,
would that still make her a homosexual...?
I think that truth would kind of make anyone think.
if when I do get reborn, I don’t EVER want my biological body
to be male....I feel more comfortable with the other, and if it takes me time to figure out I am Gyno-Agender in that next life, then it’s fine by me too....
I don’t know if the humans who dislike homosexuals,
really think about the logic that has to do with when a human dies,
if they become reborn into a different bio-gender/sex
they might still be attracted to the guys or gals that they were in their past life.
I hope my explaining about that doesn’t get misinterpreted.
I don’t like when my words end up misunderstood.
well small misunderstandings okay, but when it is big and ends up hurting feelings then that is really not good.
but yeah, I just don’t like the toxic stuff that is going on in that site.
maybe I should try not to worry about it.
right now I am listening to some music,
I’m listening to Agnes’s Don’t Breaking My Heart.
anyway, I’m just gonna hurry and post this
and then post that Undertale x Yandere Simulator Crossover.
hope some of you like this drawing,
and I hope some like how King Dice
is making the scary eyes at Cuphead lol.
once again I enjoyed drawing this,
I even drew wedding rings on King Dice and Devil’s fingers.
and them saying the same thing to both Mugman and Cuphead.

Pats for the cup boys (Cuphead AU + story)
Tumblr media
Although, it should be the other way but meh, Cuphead and Mugman didn't mind ^ w ^ in this AU Dorothy follows the two dish brothers on their journey to collect the soul collects to hand into the devil, but...there is a good reason for why. WARNING: The story contains blood in it, if you don't like these kind of story then please do not view it. But, if you do then press "keep reading" to view it.
in this AU Dorothy follows the two dish brothers on their journey to collect the soul collects to hand into the devil, but...there is a good reason for why. As I had mentioned in one of my previous drawings devil wanted her soul and eventually he would find a way to get it...this is how. At the time Dorothy couldn't use her powers as her eye had be injured. It was one day she had gone for a walk around the isles and eventually went to inkwell isle where she found a woods, she was hoping to somehow find a cure to heal her eye and get her powers back. But, because of previous events that had occurred before she met dice it had scared her out of wanting to be around anyone but Dice. It was the reason for the tear on the leg of her overalls, she remembered running from a gang of bulls who were looking for trouble when she had blindly run into something, clamping harshly down on her leg with a loud SNAP. She fell, the thing tore at her leg as  if it were a rabid dog. She yelled in pain as she looked down at the huge bear trap that was practically bigger than her foot. She saw her own blood seeping through her pant leg, her whole leg throb as it did so. Dorothy whimpered, trying to loosen the trap from her leg but failed to as when she had tried to open the trap it seemed to tear her leg more and for her to let out a pained yelp. But, she found that there was another problem waiting for her as she felt something grab the back of her neck and slam her face to the ground. Dorothy was kicked, punched, and beaten by the bull gang to a point until she unable to even sit up properly.
It was moments later she was then that a couple of the bulls held her still while another bull grabbed the bear trap and began twisting it around. Dorothy screeched in agony as felt the skin and fur on her leg being tore and the sharp teeth of the trap digging deeper into her leg, causing blood to drip from her leg. It continued on and on until Dorothy felt herself about to pass out from blood loss. It was then without a few seconds that a sort of magic was used on one of the bulls and it seemed that they're soul was yanked from their body as the bull's now lifeless body hit the ground. She was then let go off by the other bulls who attempted to run from whatever else was there. The last thing Dorothy saw was a blurry purple figure before everything went black. Dorothy shivered, knowing that if it wasn't for the die headed man she would've likely be killed by that bull gang. But, she was so stuck in her thoughts that she almost didn't hear someone coming nearby. "heh, you can't catch me!" Dorothy panicked as she heard a voice from further in the forest. Without thinking she climbed up a tree and went to one of the highest branches in the tree. She looked down from the tree to see two small cup children run through the forest, they both seemed to be playing a game of tag. Dorothy tried to look closer at the two cups and they seemed to be around the same size. But, there was a different between them both. One had a small red nose with a white and red straw and red pants while the other had a big blue nose with a white and blue straw and blue pants. But, they both wore brown shoes and black long sleeved shirts. Dorothy presumed immediately that the two cups were brothers and possibly even twins. She saw the boys run around, the red cup seemed to be chased by the blue cup who eventually caught him. "I got you!" the blue cup said while giggling before both the cup kids laughed with joy as they continued their game of tag. Dorothy smiled and softly laughed seeing the two dishes chase each other around. She continued to watch the two boys, that was until she heard a cracking sound from underneath her. She looked down and saw the branch she was on about to snap off. She gasped and looked for a branch to grab onto, she then saw the branch above her. But before she had time to do anything the branch underneath her snapped and she yelled as she fell from the tree. A much larger tree branch was knocked by her leg on the way down, this didn't hurt Dorothy but it did loosen it a lot. This quickly caught the attention of the two cups, both of their eyes widen as they saw her hit the ground. She groaned from the impact and felt her vision blur for a sec. But just as her vison came back the large branch from the tree snap and land straight onto her stomach, knocking the wind right out of her. Both the cup brothers were quick to run to her aid, both boys using their effort to lift the large branch off her. Dorothy winced as she looked up at the boys. She thanked the two boys despite how shaky her voice had become from this. The cup boys stared at each other in a worried manner, "we need to get her to Elder kettle, I think she's hurt" the red cup nodded in agreeance as they both wrapped an arm round her. Dorothy whimpered as the two boys carried her back a small cottage. She then saw a kettle outside who was napping in a rocking chair. "Elder Kettle!" the kettle had awoken from his sleep once he heard the red cup call his name, the kettle then saw both cups carrying Dorothy and the kettle quickly jumped to action, "oh my goodness! bring her inside, boys!" the kettle quickly went to the door and opened it to let the two boys carry her in and sit her down on the couch inside the house. The kettle then checked Dorothy over, it was the moment that when the kettle pressed gently on her stomach she yelped and her big fluffy tail curled around her stomach. "hmm..." the kettle saw a few twigs in her tail and gently pulled them out. "I think you may have more than bruising, let's see if I can get you something to fix that" the kettle then
went to a shelf with potions on it and looked through them, he then found one and pulled it out. The kettle then looked closer at the potion and sighed, "this is gonna need to be use a certain way, it'll only take a few minutes, I have the right stuff to use." Dorothy nodded and elder kettle went toward the kitchen. But, just before he did the kettle turned to the two cups, "Mugman, Cuphead, please keep her company while I prepare this" both boys obeyed the kettle and sat with Dorothy. The three of them then chatted for a small while, Dorothy had learned the names of the two cups, the red cup was Cuphead and the blue cup was Mugman. Shortly after they talked to each other the kettle had finally finished with the the potion and brought it out to Dorothy. She then took the potion and drunk it. It only took a second for the effects to kick in and before Dorothy knew it she was better within a few seconds, but it wasn't just her stomach that was healed but also her eye that had been injured before. She then tested to see if she could use her powers and they seemed to work just fine, Cuphead, Mugman and the kettle seemed to be shocked by her using her powers. Dorothy explained that she had powers to begin with but because of the injury on her eye she couldn't use them. After some time Dorothy had checked the time and saw that she needed to head back to the casino, she then thanked the kettle and two boys while shaking the kettle's hand before taking her leave. A few weeks had gone by, the two cup boys had found themselves in the casino despite Elder Kettle warning them many, many times. Cuphead had found himself on a winning streak where king dice watched the two boys. Dorothy had seen what was going on from afar and eventually saw the devil come to see how far Cuphead had gotten. The moment she heard the devil making a deal with the cup that she knew the two boys were going to be in danger, she knew cuphead was blinded by greed the second he picked up the dice. Dorothy's eyes widened as she saw the red cup roll the dice and the devil chuckle. "SNAKE EYES! YOU LOSE!" both boys shook as the dice slammed his large hand down, "oh no...Cuphead, what did you do?!" both boys quickly turned to see Dorothy close nearby. "Dorothy? what-" before the red cup could speak the devil loomed over the two brothers who trembled, "Now...ABOUT THOSE SOULS!" Dorothy was worried for the two boys as she didn't want them getting their souls taken by the devil. She had a worried feeling in her gut as she thought about elder kettle, she knew that if their souls were taken by devil that kettle would be heartbroken. But, Dorothy then realized that the devil had been after her own soul for so long and knew how powerful her soul was, so...she knew exactly what she was to do next. She let out a sigh before standing in front of the two boys. "Hold on a sec, devil, Cups and Mugs are only kids, you can't just take their souls...", the devil looked at her and scoffed. "well, they knew what they were doing stepping foot inside this casino" devil then stared her down. He did this while pointing to Cuphead "that cup took my bet and lost...so it's either he and his brother give me their souls or I take them MYSELF!" Dorothy then clenched her fists, "maybe there's another way!" her ears flattened as she looked at the devil. The devil snarled at her response, "and what exactly is that?" Dorothy then took a step back from the devil before suddenly summoning her soul out of her body, the devil saw her soul and his eyes widened, he could see her rainbow magic radiating off of it as it shined a blue color. She then put her soul back into her body, now devil knew exactly how special her soul was. "You can have my soul instead...so those boys don't suffer in hell with you" from the corner of her eye she saw king dice flinch at her words, but he knew he wasn't allowed to intervene. The devil narrowed his eyes and chuckled, but before the devil could speak she quickly spoke up again. "But...before we can settle with this deal...I must set some conditions." The
devil chuckled, "go on then." Dorothy sighed, looking back at the cup boys before turning back to the devil, she had a plan in her head. "I know you have a bunch of runaway debtors, and since the cups got themselves in this mess they'll help me to collect the debtors' contracts. You will give us three days to collect the contracts, if we succeed you free all the debtors from their contracts including the ones that work for you, but... if we fail...you are free to take my soul..." Dorothy then stuck out her hand and give the devil a serious look. "...deal?" the devil gave her a wicked smile and was about to shake her hand when she stopped him, "I should also mention, if you cheat in any sort of way then the deal is off." This made the devil pause and grumble, "fine..." a smiled formed back on the devil's face as both shook on the deal, but when they did Dorothy felt a weird sensation around her soul as she did so. Dorothy had then taken the two boys out of the casino and left to rush back to Elder Kettle, and as she did Dorothy had scolded Cuphead for his reckless act. It from that time on Dorothy went with the two brothers to collect up the contracts of the debtors.

I was going through some of your old post, looking for things I haven’t seen on your cuphead au (I love it more than the actual game and canon stuff).... hope that’s not weird... but in one of the post, it said the Devil can’t be out of hell for too long or Michael drags him back down there, so did you have a number in mind? Like how long is too long? Can the Devil just go back down himself and that restarts the countdown? Sorry that was really long...
There’s no.... ‘countdown’,,, he can leave Hell but remember Earth is under constant watch by Heaven and if Heaven notices him being out and about --- they’re gonna send Michael.
He’s good at staying under their radar but ya know,, he can’t keep his luck forever and sooner or later he’ll start making deals and Heaven’s gonna be like “...something ain’t right,,, somebody go send Mike, we think Lucifer crawled out of his cave again, send a search party--”

(Posting some silly cover art)
Welcome onlookers, to:
The Inkwell Paradox
After (over)analyzing the Cuphead storyline with 3 different approaches last month, I’ll now move on to the Jiaqiverse Cuphead fancanon\fanfic:
A space-time odyssey, falsidical paradoxes, magic vs. science; all these raising thoughts to scenarios similar to Neo knocking over the flower vase after the Oracle pointed it out and further. Gee, talk about a way too serious approach with fanfic!
I have made some posts in the form of Devil’s diary transcript already on the-textbased-jiaqiverse, and a lot more is planned to come in a non-chronological, kinda messy fashion, I feel like I want to highlight some parts I really enjoyed imagining/writing.
Like the Devil x KD dynamic:
Did you know Devil was “banished”, “casted down” to this universe, landing on a part its residents would call “Inkwell” after he got into major trouble with the Court? (It was to the extend that the Court would like him to be annihilated, to be expanded on someday in the future)
Did you know at KD and Devil’s first meeting, in a blink of the eye, time “skipped” about 6 hours from Devil’s perspective? And in that blink of the eye, Devil felt his life was going to be in danger, and that event would be somehow linked to KD (a stranger he’d just met at this point), but couldn’t specifically pinpoint how? Needless to say he freaked out
Did you know shortly after being acquainted with KD, Devil learnt a song written specifically to mock KD? A literal diss track he finds catchy and shared/sang straight to KD’s face, meanwhile gradually realizing “the six-faced freak” was probably supposed to be KD (the “photosynthesis” song)!
KD did remind Devil of what he’s done wrong in the past and Devil wanted to leave Inkwell and fix things. At that point Devil was tricked into gathering money for someone promising to build/commission something to get him home, he unknowingly hurt KD in that process which he greatly regretted
There were 2 to 3 years KD spent as a pretty influential regent of Sugarland (alternative reality/AU) for Princess Erony Taffy (a relative of Baroness von Bon Bon’s). Devil joked that if KD was an actual king, addressing him formally would get interesting (King King Dice, something like that)
Devil’s trident is a gadget made by KD for him to in a way regain his magic, and within their time in this AU Devil learned to shapeshift on command, KD paired the trident with his mind and shapeshifting abilities so from then on it shapeshifted alone with Devil and can turn into any weapon Devil wanted
After Erony literally backstabbed KD, Devil started weeping holding KD, weeping like he’d never wept before, believing he had lost him
Did you know after that KD and Devil journeyed to yet another AU and became celebrities? Here they became professional musicians by accident (just like how this idea hit me by accident, becoming singers was not their main goal being there)
Did you know they started a romantic relationship before they went viral, but this remained secret at that moment as them being gay was met with quite some resistance here? (in this AU the strongest resistance they’d meet) Their relationship lasted despite this tho
Did you know after a thankfully peaceful retirement from their musical career they ended up chasing a major lead to another new, very magical AU? Where they had to destroy a foreign gem in Cala Maria’s possession and where they bumped into Dr. Kahl, who promptly fled upon seeing them?
People of this AU were generally pretty open-minded and they were free to just openly flirt and more
After going after Dr. Kahl and his alliance of scientists from “infinite Inkwell”—short for a gathering of scientists from a seemingly “infinite” amount of Inkwell AUs—Devil almost died trying to protect KD (that’s why Devil foresaw the danger to his life was linked to KD at their first meeting)
Did you know Devil told KD “there’s a beautiful sparkle in your eyes”(yeah Devil is THAT cheesy sometimes) when he was dying and KD was desperately keeping him alive?
Dr. Kahl was time traveling all this time, lastly landing back at the AU where Devil and KD were celebs, where the KD from that moment of time confronted him and ended his idea of “ripping a hole through space-time to explore the unknown”, which would ultimately just destroy the entirety of this Inkwell “multiverse” along with everyone there if carried out!
KD nurtured Devil back to health
John and James, advanced AI’s constructed by KD reacted to witnessing an affectionate kiss shared between KD and Devil by saying “well, this is no surprise, we saw that coming long ago”
Devil initially wanted to leave this universe badly, but as he hung out with KD, he gradually put down his troubles and started to want to stay here with KD, until it was revealed that KD is not from this universe either and staying here would not be the best option, he knew he needed to leave with KD, eventually
Did you know after all this jazz they went back to the reality they started with and lived in a cave for a while, plotting to leave this universe (yeah that cave was the location of the later Inkwell Hell)?
I mentioned somewhere in an ask-and-answer that Devil was KD’s first right (you know what I meant)? Although the prospect was extremely inviting, Devil initially couldn’t bring himself to just do the do with KD (this and a lot else had to do with Devil’s background), then immediately asked KD to marry him when they finally did get to it.
Here’s a pretty wild fancanon: After careful planning, KD and Devil essentially faked their defeat (c’mon remember the “who would win” meme?) and left Inkwell with the cupbros as heroes to the Inkwell residents. They went on to a specific time and place of a Section (a “standard” type of cluster of multiverses) KD prepared for them
Did I mention that some girls—e.g. Erony, AU Sally Stageplay and of course, creepy Pirouletta—had major crushes on KD?
Besides all that there’s so much more than the story of Devil and KD here: John and James, Cuphead and Mugman’s journey and more and more (this fanfic is called “The Inkwell Paradox” not “the snake-eyes paradox” so...)
I hope you’d like my fancanon\fanfic, just fun and games after all

Hello! This is just a bit of an AU story I came up with that involves the DevilDice shipping. Hope you enjoy! X3
Oh, and I also decided for Dice’s human like name, it would be Kingsley due to ‘King’ being in the name. ^_^
Here we have King Dice after losing to Cuphead and Mugman, the poor dice looking bruised and cracked all over. Anyway, he was gling to where the Devil was, and as he got closer, he over heard him calling him a ‘Good for nothing lackey’ before he fought Cuphead and Mugman.
Dicey boi here felt shocked, angry, and...sad.
After all these years of working for him as his right hand man, and also having grown deep feelings for him, he couldn’t believe what he heard. Was that how the Devil really felt about him? He would have thought that his boss would have at least respected him, but hearing those words shattered his faith.
It was after the Devil was defeated by the brothers that King Dice confronted the injured ruler of Inkwell Hell, feeling angry and hurt by his words. It got a bit heated before Dice decided to leave, having enough of working for someone who didn’t even care about him.
And so once he managed to get as far away from the casino as possible, King Dice managed to sit down through the pain of his injuries in a forest, where he was found by Cuphead and Mugman themselves. They were rather suspicious at first, but soon became confused and sympathetic when they saw his condition and that he seemed to have no intentions of causing trouble. After explaining what happened, the two wanted to help the poor guy, so they decided to let him stay with them and Elder Kettle til he was healed up so they can ‘help him back onto his feet’, even when Dice tried to refuse the offer but gave in after a few more tries and their ‘puppy eyes of doom’.
Elder Kettle was kind enough to let him stay, a little wary, but he trusted his boys.
During his stay in their home as he healed, the brothers learned some things about King Dice. Like about his past, his family, as well as his feelings towards the Devil.
And so the two brothers decided to find a way to get the two together.

Quomodo Mundus Cadit - Chapter 2
Dice was very familiar with the feeling of losing a fight. The deep pulse of pain that traveled through him. The sting of cuts that were no doubt filled with dirt and becoming infected. The weight in his chest of having to deal with whatever the fallout of this fight was. An uncomfortable reminder of his childhood he really didn’t want to focus on at the moment. When he was able to fully reach consciousness, Dice realized he was currently buried under rubble. Not a lot, but enough that it was still a task to break free. Once freed, Dice was greeted to a crumbling and abandoned Casino. His pride and joy turned to ruin.
But…how? Surely he wasn’t out for that long. Where were the workers? Where was anyone?
Exiting the Casino only gave more questions. Everything was in ruin. The Casino, the entry to Hell, the part of the city that Dice was able to see. The sky an uncomfortable deep blood red.
Unable to really wrap his head around what was happening, Dice quickly made an easy to follow plan. Worry about the outside world later. Right now, find the boss. Turning away from the destroyed city, Dice slowly made his way towards the entrance to Hell.
Worry seeped its way further into him as he entered. The normal roaring flames and demon servants were nowhere to be found. It was eerily quiet and unbearably cold for a place that was supposed to be on fire. Before the crumbling throne was a hole. Leading to where the Devil’s way to Hell was. But it was as dead and cold as the throne room. Which was honestly an even more worrisome discovery. As Dice reached the first even level of ground, he paused for a moment to peer around.
If he didn’t know better, Dice would have called this a rather normal cave. Cool gray stone was stalactites and stalagmites everywhere. Deep and cavernous, freezing and hollow. But because it was so normal that it caused Dice to panic. This was the entry level to Hell. Why was everything so cold?
On the cave walls, Dice found the familiar burn marks that he’d seen on the Devil’s office created from his tantrums. Along with marks that Dice could uncomfortably identify as those coming from the brother’s weapons. He’d become very familiar with those over the course of the day.
Speaking of the cups. As he peered around once more, he realized he didn’t see them. Dice could only assume they’d already run off.
“I suppose the boss didn’t fare so well either…” Dice muttered darkly. Even if his boss had lost, that didn’t explain why everything was the way it currently was.
“Sir!” Dice called out. Voice echoing back in the cave. “Boss, if you can hear me, answer!”
 Nothing.
While he wasn’t overly worried about his boss being killed. Dice was concerned where the Devil could have possibly gone. The fear quickly fell away when, turning the ‘corner’ of the rubble pile, he found the other. Located at the base of the rubble pile Dice had just turned. Lying on his back with eyes staring up as his arms were splayed out by his side. Unbothered at the hurried footsteps that drew closer to him. Uncaring at the clearly panicked look on Dice’s face as he stared down at the Devil.
“There you are sir. What are you doing? Why didn’t you answer? What even happened to you?”
Dice waited for an answer, but received none. The Devil continued to stare straight ahead. Seeming uncaring that Hell was cold and that Dice was standing right there.
“Sir…can you hear me?” Dice inched a little closer cautiously, knowing the Devil was one for personal space. It didn’t seem to matter as, even standing directly over him and waving a hand in front of his face, the Devil didn’t move.
“Look, I’m not pleased by the trouncing either. But the world looks like…well, Hell right now and Hell itself looks wrong. It would be great if you could explain what is happening.”
Still nothing. Letting out a deep sigh, Dice decided it was time to move. The Devil was uncaring as he was unceremoniously lifted off the ground. An arm slung around Dice’s shoulder as he pulled himself and the Devil out of the hole. The Lord of Sin seemed uncaring as they walked into the destroyed city. Uncaring of the ruined buildings and charred remains of once living people.
“So, none of this excites you?” Dice panted weakly, “Your silence is so comforting.”
It was night when Dice had to stop. Or what Dice assumed to be night as the sun seemed to have just disappeared behind the red. The little light that was being produced during the day quickly diminishing as time marched on. Having to hunker down in a crumbling building. Quick to start a fire before the air became too cold. Dice letting out a grunt as he finally was able to sit down. Looking over to find the Devil still unresponsive.
“Are…you hungry? It’s been awhile since we’ve eaten, I think. I’m not fully sure how much time has passed since those brothers… Do you have any idea?”
 Silence.
Dice, admitting somewhat of a defeat, instead turns his attention to the area around them. The Casino had not offered anything in the way of supplies. All burnt up and turned to ash. So the next best step would be to savage what Dice could find. It was a moment of luck that Dice realized he’d snuck them into an abandoned apartment. At least…he hoped it was abandoned. No signs of bodies or anything else appearing at the moment. He could only assume people had just fled when they saw…whatever happened.
While there were only two standing floors, Dice was pleased to find there was more than enough to collect. A sturdy shoulder bag was eventually filled with food and other needed supplies. Clothing that would be able to disguise the Devil and himself as they went further out into the disaster zone. Dice only assuming if someone spotted them it would quickly turn south. Especially if they knew how vulnerable the Devil was at this moment.
As he turned to leave the last picked over room, Dice looked up and paused as he made eye contact with his reflection. Even in the cracked mirror Dice was able to see every scratch that littered his body. His normally immaculate suite was now torn and covered in dirt, the shoes looking like he’d just dug them out of a used bin. His dark purple socks poked out where the sole was broken away. What was most worrisome was the crack that had begun to form. Thankfully it wasn’t too severe, Dice could still see out of his right eye. But it was something he would definitely need to be careful about as it was already lying a little unevenly.
Going back to the ground floor, Dice found the Devil still where he was left by the other. Fire still acting as the only beckon of light in the darkened world. Dice let out a sigh as he sat back down. Eyes traveling over to look back at his companion. After looking himself over made Dice realize he hadn’t noticed how much the Devil had changed. The eyes, while still a shocking yellow, now longer glowed. Once foot long horns were shrunk to less than four inches. The black fur that once shined was now dull and matted.
 How much has changed?
With how unnervingly quiet it was, Dice was surprised he was able to fall asleep. Waking the next morning with a sore back and a feeling somehow worse. The Devil, on his part, was still quiet and unmoving.
The first sign of trouble arrived when Dice moved him and the Devil further into Isle Three. As he explored the nearby buildings, Dice stumbled across a grizzly scene. What was apparently once a group of three had dwindled down to one. With those who had fallen being done in by the ‘survivor’. Their hands and front covered in dry blood with a wild look in their eyes.
Dice had to recover quickly when the other, upon realizing they were not alone, dashed towards him. He easily slid his pocket knife out, Dice blocked one of the hands away. Wincing slightly as the other hand clawed at the bare skin. Dice ignored the sting as he plunged the blade deep into his attacker's throat. There was a gargled cry of surprise and pain. The attacker stumbled back, trying to stop the flow of blood. Only to collapse the next second. Eyes glassy as their life spilled from them.
“Interesting…” Dice commented casually as he cleaned the blade before tucking the knife away.
Whatever had happened has caused changes to the surrounding area as well as the mental stability to those who were still alive. Possibly. Dice was making a rather large assumption. But he was sure that at least two days had only passed. He’s not sure what could have caused such a mental degradation in someone so quickly. Whatever this situation was, this was causing a lot of damage.
Somehow, Hell had found its way to the surface. Hell had officially broken loose and the ruler was absolutely no help at the moment.
As the days passed, it was all filled with Dice collecting what he could find. Changing his outfit and dressing the Devil in rags in hopes to help them blend in further. After determining Isle Three held nothing salvageable any more, Dice moved them both to Isle Two. While this Isle was not as severely damaged as the previous one, it’s clear this Isle was not habitable either.
At this point, Dice calculated that at least five days had passed since the Cup Brothers returned to the Casino. And he still didn’t know what was happening. It was becoming maddening to find any clue as to what was going on.
He let out a slow sigh as he watched the food before him cook. Eyes flickering over to the curled up form of the Devil. “Feel like saying anything to me today?”
 Nothing.
“You know, I wouldn’t mind so much about this silence. But you’ve given me no signs that you’re actually hearing me. This is very different from your usual bouts of tantrums. I feel as if all of this is the result of the Cup Brothers defeating us. But you’ve never really explained to me how Hell really worked. So if this is supposed to happen when you lose, it would be great if-”
 “I’m sorry.”
Dice quickly silenced himself hearing the quiet voice. Eyes snapping over to the Devil, who was still staring into the fire. “...What?”
 “I said I’m sorry.”
 That was scary.
It was definitely said by the Devil himself. His mouth barely moved, but Dice knew that voice. But…Dice was thrown for a shock to hear the Devil to actually apologize.
 “You’re sorry?” Dice repeated back.
 “Yeah.”
 “...What for?”
 “I’m not…really sure?”
 “That is amazingly unhelpful.”
For the first time since this ordeal, the Devil moved on his own will. Turning his head to glare at Dice. “It’s hard to explain fully what’s happening.”
 “But you do know?”
“...To a certain degree, I suppose I do.”
Dice huffed. The Devil was usually cryptic, it came with the title. Twisting his words to make some poor sucker believe they would be given the world in return for their soul. At the moment, however, this was infuriating.
“Alright, let’s try this a different way,” said Dice, “What if I just asked more specific questions. Something more focused for you.”
 “Can’t hurt to try.”
Dice gave a dejected sigh through his nose. “Then I suppose that’s what we’re going to work with for now. Alright, let’s start from the beginning. What happened between you and the Cup Brothers.”
 “Well…I lost.”
 “You lost.”
 “...Yep.”
“How does that result with you being…submissive.”
 “Excuse you.”
“Boss, I mean that in the nicest way possible. But I’ve had to carry you everywhere since I found you. This is the first time you’ve even talked! Even now you sound different. You look different, this is not…normal. Not good? Whatever label you want to give it.”
 “Explain.”
“You look weaker. Not tired just…you sound strangely mortal. You look mortal. You’re acting mortal!”
The Devil, at this point, gave pause. Giving a small hum before leaking at the fire again. “...Suppose I am. Mortal, that is. To a point. I don’t think I can be killed. But…I’m not feeling the strength I normally do.”
Dice stared at the other, mouth open in disbelief. “What?”
“What happens when the Lord of Sin is defeated, hm? To be honest, I wasn’t sure. Not that I ever expected to be defeated.”
 “...Sir… Devil-”
 “Lucifer.”
 Dice faltered at that. “What?”
“It was my name before I fell. And while I’ve never been fully mortal before…I doubt that I can carry the name ‘Devil’ anymore. So, Lucifer will work.”
“Why…can’t you carry that title anymore.”
Devil- Lucifer let out a snort. “Come now Dice. You’re not that dense.”
At that it fell quiet. Lucifer seemed content in what he said while Dice mulled over every word.
“...You have no powers.” Dice eventually muttered.
 “Yep.”
“So, where did it go?” Lucifer merely waved his hand around, indicating the destruction that surrounded them. “Your powers caused all of this? H-How?”
“Well, I did contain a lot of power. Untapped, untamed power that was only in control when I had it. With nothing holding it back, it can just run amok.”
“So it just went on a rampage and now it’s gone?”
“No. Nothing that strong can just disappear.”
 “Then where is it?”
Lucifer shrugged. “I sure as Hell don’t have it.”
“Couldn’t it just be running around still? Just, not here on the Isles?”
“Nah. Isle Two would be worse then this is if it was still out. Also, we would be dead. Would have come back to finish the job.”
“As…comforting as that is to know that we aren’t in immediate danger. Where could this power have gone?”
 “Don’t know.”
“Sir, you’re making it very hard to not want to kill you right now.”
 “You could try.”
Dice winced at how calm Lucifer sounded. “I-I’m not going to do that!”
 “Then don’t make the threat.”
“Look, I’m just… This is a serious issue and I wish you would take this seriously.”
“I don’t really have the motivation to. Besides, with my current state, I don’t think I’ll be much help. Basically mortal, extremely tired, a sack of potatoes has more purpose than I do right now.” Lucifer suddenly let out a yawn before lying down and rolling onto his side. Back now facing Dice. Who raised his brow at the sudden action and silence.
“So, that’s it? You have no powers, no idea where that power went, or even have a solution to offer to get this fixed.”
 “More or less.”
Dice let out a sigh, rubbing his forehead. He actually felt worse now. All Hell had broken loose, they were now living in an apocalyptic world, and the only being who could possibly fix it was currently snoring. And there was nothing Dice could do about it.
“I wonder if it’s too late to retire.” Dice muttered darkly.
 ________________________
Dice did not sleep well that night. Mind felt stuck as he tried to work through an unsolvable situation. When it started to become lighter, as the sun couldn’t be used for time anymore, Dice decided it was time to scavenge some more. Honestly just trying to find something for him to do.
On a normal day, at this point, Dice would be fully dressed to the ‘T’. Heading to the boss’ office with breakfast, being carried by servants of course. Both would discuss what the plan for that day would be. What needed to be completed before opening the door, finding new ways to trick suckers into giving their soul away. Sharing a laugh as the thought of past ‘deals’ and the fear they could strike into anyone.
Dice smirking as he felt the Devil’s tail gently tapping against his leg.
But now Dice was scavenging through dirt and dust to find something edible.
He traveled further from the ‘home base’ that he felt comfortable with. But it was slim picking from the buildings nearby and the more he could find the better. Since it was so quiet, Dice could only help that the Dev- Lucifer would be fine on his own for longer. What he’d found so far wasn’t going to last them too long.
As he was nearing the cross section of a main street way when Dice heard a familiar sound. That of a scuffle. One that, if Dice was hearing correctly, was very one sided. Deciding he wanted nothing to do with that today, Dice turned. It would be best to hide and let the fighting pass instead of outrunning it. The area was too open and running would draw attention to him. Instead, Dice rushed over to a sizable pile of rubble, ducking behind it as the fighting drew closer.
As expected, it was an uneven match. Four against two. With the larger group sporting wide, heavy built fighters. However it was the party of two that surprised Dice.
Cuphead and Mugman, the two boys who brought the Devil down. With fire in their eyes and shooting light from their fingertips. Now surrounded by bandits, alone, looking worse than Dice expected. Cuphead was missing his handle while Mugman’s entire right eye was cracked. One attempted to swing a sword to defend while the other was just trying to run a straight path.
Dice should have left. The bandits would pay him no mind and this was an outcome he didn’t want to see. But his legs wouldn’t move. All he could do was watch as Cuphead used the sword unskillfully. Barely keeping the bandits at bay. Dice wondering why the brother’s wouldn’t just use the same powers they brought the Devil down with?
Then, a sickening idea surfaced. If Lucifer was powerless, why wouldn’t the brothers be?
Dice winces as Mugman, who barely avoided a swing from a bandit and tripped, hit the ground. A heavy crack sounding as his face took full impact. Cuphead let out a strained “Mugman!”, lowering his defenses. One of the bandits took advantage of this. Giving a good whack to the back of the cup’s head.
The realization hit at that point. These brothers had been reduced to children once more.
Dice was out of his spot in seconds, pocket knife in hand as he stalked forward. Bandit #1, who was the closest, turned hearing footsteps draw closer. They weren’t much trouble. Dice plunging his knight into the other’s jugular and continued on. Ignoring the wet gurgles and gasps of a dying man.
Bandit #2 was the first ‘obstacle’, if Dice wanted to be generous with that title. This one had at least the were with all to raise their weapon, a wooden board. But was left vulnerable as Dice landed a punch to the stomach. Yanking the board out of their weak grasp. Bashing it over the back of their heads while the knife sliced across their throat as they fell. Another one left to desperately struggle for air.
The final two, realizing what was going on, teamed up. One grabbed the brothers around their necks while the last held a piece of glass dangerously to Mugman’s good eye. Dice paused at that.
“The hell do you want.” Bandit #3, the one holding the glass, demanded.
“The two boys you currently have, if you don’t mind.” Dice replied calmly.
“Why do you care about these little brats. We’re honestly doing them a favor.”
“By toying with them? How kind. But I’m going to say, on their behalf, they would like to remain alive. So for your own good, release them. Unless you want to end up like your companions back there.”
“Eddie, I think we should listen. It’s not worth it.” Bandit #4 whispered fearfully.
Eddie let out a low growl, almost sounding demonic Dice noted, before turning to his companion. “But they said- …Fine. Drop them.”
Bandit #4 did just that. Cuphead quickly recovered, scrambling to get Mugman up and both of them away from their attackers. Dice raised a brow as the brothers took safety behind him, but said nothing on the matter.
“Know this lackey,” Eddie spat out to Dice, “You have a target on your back if you protect them.”
With that, they fled. Dice slightly confused by the ominous message. But pushed it aside as nonsense as he faced the brothers. Cuphead desperately glued what he could back into place on Mugman’s face. The tube itself looked dangerously low.
“He’s not healing.” Dice casually commented.
“We couldn’t find all the pieces.” Cuphead responded. His voice clearly indicated he was close to crying.
Dice bent down, raising his hands as Cuphead raised his sword, arms shaking. “I just want a look, I’ll be careful.”
Cuphead gave pause…but stepped back, never lowering the sword. Dice didn't blame him.
Being cautious and slow, Dice gently turned Mugman’s face. Stomach turning seeing the extensive damage inflicted. “Do you know how this happened?”
 “...Not really.”
Seemed to be the standard answer. “Do you lose your handle at the same time?”
 “Yeah, but I’m fine.”
Dice let out a slow sigh as he moved his hands away. “I’m afraid there’s not much I can do. …When was the last time you two ate?”
 “This morning.”
“Good… Well, come along. It won’t do us any good to be out here like sitting ducks.” Dice went to stand, only to pause as Mugman raised his arms. Not high, but a clear silent request that Dice recognized. He easily lifted the young mug up, positioning him so the uninjured side could rest comfortable against Dice’s chest. The free hand was offered out for Cuphead to take. Who was still holding the sword up.
 “I’m fine.”
“I know. But this is so I don’t lose you.”
Cuphead gave a few seconds of contemplation before putting the sword away. Not looking up as his hand slid into the one being offered. Dice merely gave what he hoped was a comforting squeeze before leading the way back to his home base.

You know what I don't get? What kind of bet did King Dice make with the Devil and what happened when he lost it? What exactly did Dice bet? Money? His soul? His position? It bugs me that we never find out. Most of all, if Dice wants to win his bet so badly, why not sabotage Cuphead and Mugman's efforts to ensure he wins it? What's the real reason why he attacks Cuphead and Mugman? So many loose ends!
I think they did it leave it to the players to interpret perhaps?? or maybe it was the style, i mean, the cartoons that these are heavily based off didn’t exactly give you much in the way of exposition, and it’s already proven MDHR studios go all in to an admirable degree .
That just leaves the fandom to fill those in and grow their own theories and reasons and aus and I love it. Thrive in it nonny.
I think he does it because he was being very clever about it. I mean, if they die in the process, he wins the bet. If they win back all the contracts, Dice seems perhaps overconfident in himself and his employees that they’d be the ones to beat the bros AND bag themselves all the soul contracts they couldn’t acquire
(through laziness, lack of manpower, or perhaps even the fact that none of them can step outside of Inkwell Hell. The only one you see outside of Inkwell Hell is Dice, but that’s only in an adjacent part of the Casino itself- The Die Houses)
As to why he wants to win badly, maybe it wasn’t anything at all. Maybe it was one of those bets you have with your friends, like for Imaginary I Win points. The only thing he had to lose was his lucky streak and he doesn’t seem like the type of man to deal with that gracefully haha
on the other hand…..
