Where did you get the idea for "this is achillean"?

Well I always wanted to write queer stories, and for many queer guys, the story of Achilles is OUR folktale. I mean people have been arguing since ancient Greece if Achilles and Patroclus were gay.

Whereas "The song of Achilles" is a retelling of the Iliad, keeping the characters and setting the same, while changing some minor plot points, mine is an adaptation. As in if "Disney's Cinderella" is a retelling of the fairytale, then mine is more in line with "A Cinderella Story."

So when an idea of taking the base story of the Iliad and applying it to a new setting and group of characters, I was hooked.

There is just untouched potential. Really, every queer writer should try their own Iliad adaptation, even if they never publish it.

And since the Iliad has been public domain for thousands of years, I decided to post to Wattpad.

(there is one big change I made to the story. I just wonder if people will be able to figure it out before the reveal)

I also wanted to display that characters cant be "too gay" cause that's stupid
