Augustine Bishop and Mathye Bishop, Dominants of Halone
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
When your goddess just has enough of the bullshit and decides 'you know what, fuck you.'
-----
Augustine Bishop (nee Seymour) and Mathye Bishop, duel Dominants of Halone. While normally Halone manifests in the Archbishop upon their ascension, she did not appear when Thordan VII took the papal throne. Instead she appeared years later--manifesting first in Augustine in her aspect as the goddess of War, and then in Augustine's older half-brother, Mathye, in her long-forgotten aspect as the goddess of Ice, the Glaicer-Breaker. This event, along with one of Ishgard's greatest heroes being chosen as a Dominant of the First Brood, was enough to trigger a ceasefire between Coerthas and the dragons of Dravania.
By the time Riven arrives, Coerthas--and it's capital city of Ishgard-is struggling to deal with the rapid-fire changes to it's way of life and society that the ceasefire has brought. Augustine and Mathye have unwillingly become the faces of progressive reform for Coerthas, and there are many of the old guard that would rather set the country aflame than rather see change...

I really wanna play final fantasy but I'm a little bit intimidated by the amount of games.
absolutely understandable but lemme tell you, its harder to get into fate universe than FF HSHDHS
every FF game is a story in its own, meaning you dont really have to play certain games before to understand smth. theres just always some same summons popping up (shiva, ifrit, bahamut, etc) or certain "mascots" everyone knows (chocobos, moogles, cactuar,...), every game has its own cid etc etc. the stories or characters tho are always different and not connected w other parts (in dissidia the protags all band together tho, it was the hypest i felt when i saw them all in the trailer i can still feel it UGHHHHH)
some games have more parts tho or spin offs (FFVII and crisis core, dirge of cerberus, etcetc; FFX, FFXIII etcetcetc) so obv there u would have to play at least the first to kinda understand the continuation
anw im babbling sorry, im just v excited about it. long story short, FF looks intimidating (16 main games so far w tons of other games like dissidia, wof, T-0 ...) but its actually easy to get into it. if u need help or recs or whatever, absolutely feel free to ask!!

Hello! Thanks for reading. This is part of a collection of head-canon postings I wanted to make regarding my current fanfic’s universe and lore. The fanfic takes place in an altered omen!verse, along with bits and bobs from the alternate ending of Episode Ignis, as well as when FFXV was still Verses XIII. I’ve always been super fascinated by the Omen trailer, and what would have to occur for said trailer to end up happening. Also, I deserve to be self-indulgent. This is a VERY personal, non-factual imagining of my own headworld regarding FFXV and is really not meant to be taken as a legit theory. Please don’t come for me I’m just a nerd.
——
The origins of the Six, as gods of the Cosmogony are murky at best given the lore we’re exposed to within the game, only giving us bits and pieces through Noctis’ eyes. However, a theory I’ve always liked and enjoyed is the idea that the Six are not innate protectors of only Eos, but have traveled to and fro from various worlds and planets, where they deem themselves needed, or perhaps out of necessity.
It’s been stated I believe, by a few producers and directors, that FFXV, FFX, and FFVII all take place within the same universe. (FFXIII is probably in here too, but I’m not done playing the series lol)  It’s never really been truly elaborated too much about what this means, or in what way. A popular speculation is that all of these games are within the same universe but, different planets. We see, in the only opportunity we really have in the ruined Insomnia that both Spira, and Shinra are mentioned. It could of course, be written off that these are just winks for final fantasy fans, and implications, I however like the idea that FFX, and FFVII are different instances of the same planet, different time periods.
I present to you this idea FFVII’s Midgar, is in fact XV’s ancient city of Solheim.
I don’t particularly have any hard evidence for this, mind you, just a collection of loose brain worms that have been clunking around in my mind since XV’s release.
For my fanfic, the first human, upon whom Ifrit bestowed his gift of fire to, was a longstanding predecessor of Rufus Shinra, and that it is remnants of Shinra’s technology, that form the civilization of Solheim.
And thus, this introduces us to the real meat of our head-canon/theory, where the six come into play. We see the Six deities, Ifrit, Shiva, Leviathan, Bahamut, Ramuh, and Titan appear as materia summons in Final Fantasy VII initially. The timeline for FFXV calls the period of Solheim, the Cosmogony, the Age of Myth, so let’s start there.
Tumblr media
THE AGE OF MYTH
I’ve always been a big fan of the idea that the scourge was something infecting the planet, perhaps due to the gods themselves. A lot of people posit that the gods traveled from world to world, and while I like this idea, I imagine gods spend quite a long time on their particular world, and that civilizations don’t particularly seem all that long to them. Shiva and Bahamut in the 2nd FFXV Comic Anthology compare humans to flowers, and state that they’ll only grow if cultivated correctly like particularly grouchy botanists.
Tumblr media
I believe the Six and their messengers and minor deities arrived in a similar fashion to Jenova (I have another head-canon post planned bearing the similarities between the Goddess Eos from Verses, and Jenova and think that they MAY be one and the same)
Tumblr media
they both got lil weird wings. lol The gods are quite eldritch and almost unfathomable in their states in XV, which is one of the things I really like about the series, and I like the idea that the parts of them we see, are in fact their true forms. The summons in VII are more minor forms of the Six that we know and love, perhaps like the way grecian gods interacted with the world around them in their own myths.
It’s loosely possible, that this was the the beginning of the starscourge, and that even directly interacting with minor forms of the Six could transmit the parasite known  as Plasmodium that causes the scourge. We’re shown in XV that even interacting with the gods for long periods of time had detrimental effects on Luna’s health, and that was her whole bloodline’s purpose. Who’s to say ancient Midgar/Solheim stood a chance.
However, as Shinra became more more corrupted, and post advent children the more these magical crystals or Materia were used for humankind’s own ends. Ifrit believed this to be a betrayal of mankind, and was a denial of the sacred bond between humans and their deities, thus igniting the war that struck FFVII’s world to ruin, the gods warred over this, and eventually slept to allow themselves a clean slate. Jenova, or Eos, was then imprisoned in what we know as Pitioss.
Afterwards, the gods then slept, awakening next to bestow the ring upon the Lucis Caelum line some centuries later.

I'll be updating this with a part 2 soon!

.:Reworking the 8th:.
So Shiva in FFXIII is split into two beings right, Stiria and Nix. I initially had it so that Ishi’s Shard on that world was Snow, but thinking back it makes waaaay more sense for the Shiva sisters to be both Ishita and Ysayle’s shards. Ishi’s being Stiria and Ysayle being Nix.

So this is the setting for my as yet untitled Final Fantasy fic project. I'm a huge sci-fi nerd so I'm really leaning into that with this and being super self indulgent. This first pic is of the Bunhivelze System. [Also note that I'm naming but not showing the moons of the inhabited worlds on this map.]
This system is called "The Quintet" by the locals and is inspired by the map of the 12 Colonies of Kobol from the reimagined Battlestar Galactica (aka nuBSG) made by Quantum Mechanix.
The suns are named after the deities mentioned in the mythology of the Lightning Saga (FFXIII/FFXIII-2/Lightning Returns). (Although only Bunhivelze and Etro play any real role in the trilogy's story.) Anywho, Mywnn is an orange dwarf (K class star) but appears red to observers on the various habitable planets due to atmospheric distortions. The rest of the stars are G2V, aka like our IRL Sun.
Tumblr media
Things get a little more interesting with the Etro system, due to the twin gas giants. They're named after Snow's version of the ubiquitous Shiva summon.
Tumblr media
The Pulse system has one planet offset from the orbital plane by about 15 degrees. I also included a dwarf planet in the asteroid belt, although it was once a full planet before a catastrophe reduced it to a pile of rubble.
Tumblr media
And here we have the Lindzei system.
In spite of the heavy references to FFXIII, this isn't a FFXIII fic. I'm basically telling an original Final Fantasy story with this (when I write it anyway...) [Although the original idea was mechanics wise based on FFVIII and FFXIII...] (I was going to go on and on about all the references, but I'mma let you see if you can spot all the references and where they're from.}
Later I'll post a much longer in-universe description of all the worlds and such.

Moving on...
I haven’t been mentioning much about FFX. For a long time I didn’t believe there was much other than the usual (Tidus & Yuna’s story has elements of Clerra like the finger-whistling scene and the “bodyguard” storyline). What bugged me though was that Yuna wasn’t really designed after Terra like Rinoa was. Knowing this, the character designed after Terra in FF9 was Eiko, not Garnet, so after going through FFX again I started to have a “hunch” that the character more designed after Terra in some way or form was Rikku.
First off, there’s actually a similarity in their names...5 letter names with the 2nd & 5th letters being vowels, 3rd & 4th letters being the same (weird coincidence, isn’t it?) Yuna on the other hand seems similar to Tina in that regard.
Now, there could be a connection to some previous character, and since FF7R Part 2 is around the corner, I feel the pictures below show the connection.
Tumblr media
The most important character is Priscilla from Junon harbor who gives the Shiva materia, has a dolphin, and wants to marry Cloud. Note the ponytail...there’s actually a strand that is almost the exact same as the one on Rikku (the top right shorter strand).
The other character is Yuffie, and it’s well known how similar these two are.  There are some oddities in Rikku’s outfit that support this. The weird metal-looking thing on her right leg is very similar to Yuffie’s and so is her shirt and the fact that she wears shorts. Her bangs are also similar to Yuffie’s and Rikku’s braids appear to have been designed after Yuffie’s...well, whatever that thing that comes from her headpiece is called~
Also, they are both from a foreign nationality that others vilify, although Yuna is the one who’s half-race, but I’m not discrediting that Yuna has some of Terra’s traits...I just wonder why Rikku has them (they’re related for a reason). I do have a different hunch that certain characters are designed after Rydia in some respect (Yuna has Rydia’s big sleeves and she’s also a summoner, Selphie & Shelke may also have stuff related to Rydia)...Rydia is like Terra’s “sister” if you view them like a developer would.
Tumblr media
“Yuffie: This has a complicated story behind it… In the early stages, I had planned for this role to be played by Rikku from FFX. However, something happened and we had to quickly shuffle Yuffie, who originally had a different role, into this one. In the end, Yuffie’s original role was cut due to time constraints. Because of these circumstances, we designed her body to suit either role.”
The above was a quote from Nomura about Kingdom Hearts. Both Yuffie & Priscilla first appear around or at Junon Harbor (Elena also appears right before them, but I’ll leave her for later).
Add this to the fact that Rikku hasn’t appeared in Opera Omnia, and maybe we can speculate that they want Rikku to represent Priscilla in the same way Eiko represents Betty/”Moogle Girl”.
Priscilla’s dolphin appears in the FF7 Remake announcement trailer from 2015 on the girl’s shirt before she slides down the slide and we see the two boys with wooden buster swords. Also, Shiva is first received in FF7R beside the Children’s Hideout. In it’s very essence, Priscilla always represented Terra, and she’ll likely just replace Betty for Part 2 and maybe even part 3.
The elements of Rikku’s clothing that seem similar to Terra herself are the shorts and the belt (similar to Terra sash in a way) and the two-piece “cloak” (we all know Rydia has one, but whatever). Although, this being true, is there even a point to it? Well, either way, we’ll see when she finally releases for Opera Omnia in 5 or 600 years.
Red XIII also hasn’t made it to DFFOO, and I believe he was always a symbol for Fenrir (in respect to Squall’s Griever being its literal opposite). Early Amano art just simply shows Red XIII chillin’ with Cloud.
This Rikku/Priscilla thing is similar to how “Shotgun” from Before Crisis became FFXIII’s Lightning...one of the details that stayed was how the ponytail from “Shotgun” was always draped over her left shoulder. This is the reason why Lightning always has hair draped on her left shoulder (and her gunblade, which is similar-looking to the shotgun).
Another thing is, I’m not sure if Terra & Cloud’s personalities were modified to be sadder since they were separated. Cloud may not seem like a happy character, but the FF6 Opera kinda makes it seem like the main character of FF6 was supposed to be more positive and being able to smile/laugh. Comparing personalities wouldn’t be good with this in mind. Yuna may have the personality of the less expressive Terra we know of now, but I don’t really think she was like that in OG FF6. It will take a while before we find out what their original personalities were like. All the characters that are based or symbolic of Terra tend to be young and and even humorous, and this kinda made me wonder if there was something to Rikku.

My current list of Ishi and her respective counterparts on each Shard. Subject to change as I develop things more.
Ancient self: Mnemosyne (Azem)
Source: Ishita Maryam (FFXIV, duh, but also FFXII)
1: Nyelbert
2: Aqua (Kingdom Hearts)
3: Garnet (FFIX)
4: Lunafreya (FFXV)
5: ???
6: Ellone (FFVIII)
7: Jill (FFXVI)
8: Stiria (FFXIII)
9: Guardian PC (Destiny)
10: Yuna (FFX)
11: Hunter PC (Monster Hunter: World)
12: Celes (FFVI)
13: (FFIV)
Like I've stated before Ishi's reflections are all characters that have some sort of strong connection to Shiva (If applicable) and the others are from games where the player can make their own custom character. (Monster Hunter & Destiny). I have Monster Hunter in my universe because of the crossover event with Monster Hunter: World from 2018 and I have Destiny in here because in the Beyond Light expansion they introduced Stasis as an ability Guardians can use, ice based powers/abilities.
(Adding Kingdom Hearts cuz I can. Lol)

A Little Bit of Everything
Tumblr media
Ragnarok from FFXIII bears resemblance to the game's Eidolons. For example, notice the many arms (Hecatoncheir), claws and muscles (Bahamut), frills (Brynhildr), crown (Alexander), rings (Shiva), and cloak (Odin). There are also elements of the Pulse deity.
It's quite difficult to spot because these creatures have complex designs...but I found it fascinating either way.
