Watching Fox's Peter Pan and the Pirates, it's abundantly clear the pirates have no idea how long they've actually been in Neverland.
The play Peter Pan came out in 1904 and the kids are clearly Victorian. At one point the kids try to teach Peter Victorian manners (they fail...he took "ice breaker" literally).
Hook is dressed in 18th century fashion and plays the Harpischord, which was a popular instrument for that time period.
Furthermore, any time Hook thinks Peter is dead, he tells everyone to sail for The Spanish Main.
This WAS the Spanish Main
Tumblr media
It was a common area for pirates, up until the early 19th century. The war for Mexican Independence was 1810. Britain took possession of Florida in 1763 as part of some negotiations. The Spanish Main was no more by the time Wendy and her brothers were even born.
He also tried to annex Neverland in the name of the British Empire, and was decieved when Peter and his friends were dressed up as French musketeers. The uniforms the boys were wearing while pretending to be musketeers was from 1727
Tumblr media
All this while (in one episode) disliking his birthday because he believes it's bringing him closer to death, and wanting the source of Peter's eternal youth. Not only does that indicate he doesn't realize he's stopped aging, but he probably hasn't been keeping track of how long he's been there or his age.
I don't think he knows he's been there two centuries. I don't think he noticed the passing of time much at all.
EDIT: Ok, he mentioned Queen Victoria in "Dr. Livingstone" and he has Victorian era novels. So he's not COMPLETELY out of the loop. He must have a limited amount of contact with the outside world.
Double edit: In the finale when he meets adult Pan and fails to recognize him, he asks if Peter served in the royal navy in "The war of 12" most likely referring to the war of 1812, so he more likely landed in Neverland in the early 19th century.
.....that or he occasionally leaves Neverland, which would explain why he has a lot of late-Victorian literature, as well as where he keeps getting gold to bury from.

Before the fell ship came to dock/Before the first tick of a clock/Before the gloom of island night/Before a boy first leant his ear/To grown-up words that stirred a fear/And made him vow to age no more/There was another land... Before

Here's some fanart of Captain Hook from Fox's Peter Pan & the Pirates cartoon. I struggled a lot with this piece so I'm sorry if some things are off. ^^'' His face is like if the Goosebumps Haunted Mask was flesh toned. X3

I don’t know if I’ll ever do anything with this, but I had this crazy idea to put an alien into the PPatP universe. I had this idea where Peter’s shenanigans unleash a dark force that pulls several new characters from different places and time periods into Neverland. I was planning to incorporate this idea into the fic I had been posting years ago that followed a modern day woman who finds herself on the Jolly Roger, but I realized it would be WAY more interesting to follow the alien around instead.
Tumblr media
Don’t have a name for her, but she basically works as space-animal control, flying a junky spaceship with a dysfunctional AI computer companion. She crash lands, probably right into the Jolly Roger, and thus makes a poor impression with Hook. She’s completely oblivious to the fact that he might be a threat. She’s used to dealing with monstrous space creatures, after all.
I scribbled her until 3 in the morning just to get the idea out of my head, and I thought the design was too cool to not post somewhere other than just the dead Pirate Cove forums.

Honestly, this was more of an excuse to draw all the versions of Pans as adults. (Except for 2003′s version. I can only do so much realism.)
(Including my own and @chaosgremlin95 ‘s version because I love them very much)

I've been thinking.Peter Pan was often portrayed as a villain and often showed his strong flaws. And I decided that this time Wendy would be the villain.A hyperprotective, abusive girl who knows how to morally put pressure on any creatures and manipulate. She has high intelligence and very low empathy. She always wants others to do as she wants, hiding behind the fact that she cares about someone.
Tumblr media
She is very good at psychology and therefore can push special "buttons". And although she is not a sadist, Wendy will be very inventive in her crimes, thanks to her calmness. This Wendy is Fox's version. And now, before someone's death, he will tell the saddest and most terrible fairy tales) And a good mom is just her image.😅

They really should put “Fox’s Peter Pan and the Pirates” on Disney+ or Hulu. I imagine Disney would be “No Other Peter Pans Before Ours” but I feel like people should be exposed to the greater jerkitude of Fox’s version.
Every time I forget Disney now owns three different versions of Peter Pan, I'm suddenly reminded again.
Fox's Peter Pan definitely does deserve the exposure but it's whether Disney will give it to him is a whole different chapter. I can also imagine Disney doing the "No other Peter Pans Before Ours" thing and the thing is:
They're already doing a shit job with their own Peter.
So the odds of Fox's Peter Pan and the Pirates seeing the light of day on either streaming platform is very low. I'd bet my left hand it won't appear at all. If I'm wrong, then I'm wrong and I will admit so.
But the stars are really not in favour for Fox's Peter Pan and the Pirates. Which is really sad.

Alright, I’m curious… For my fellow fans of the traditional Captain Hook (not OUAT’s Killian), what was it about the character that initially drew you in? Which version first caught your attention? At what point did you look at him and go, “Okay, yup, adding this guy to my list of favs”?
For me, it was when I first watched the Disney film around age 12. In particular, I think it was the scene following the events at Skull Rock when Hook is sick in his cabin that really got to me. We don’t often see scenes in the earlier hand-drawn Disney films that show the villain in a sympathetic light. But Hook? In that moment, he was very broken, very human. And I was intrigued. I read Barrie’s novel shortly thereafter and found that the original character was also interesting and complex. Before long, I was checking out any new form of Peter Pan media I could get my hands on…and the rest is history!
