Sometimes I think about how the Godzilla -1 universe’s version of Oppenheimer reacted to Godzilla. We already know how terrified he was of the possibility that the world may go up in flames because of his creation, but knowing of Godzilla’s existence would absolutely devastate him. A creature capable of producing a heat ray that could create blasts equal to that of an atomic bomb would probably give Oppenheimer a heart attack.
I also think about what real-life Oppenheimer thought about Godzilla. The original 1954 movie did get a dubbed theatrical release (although heavily edited to tone down the anti-nuclear bomb rhetoric), so there is a chance he saw it.

Godzilla 1985 made me ball my eyes out as a child. Seeing Godzilla in so much pain here, breaks my heart. Its no wonder this living God punishes humanity for its folly.

For all the discourse about HeeHoo Monster Godzilla vs In depth Emotional Political Commentary Godzilla, I think it’s been long enough for studios to stop trying to combine the two. We saw what happened in 1998. The combo of action and an attempt at commentary and an emotionally moving storyline fucking flopppppeddd. I vote we have 1 Serious and Emotional Godzilla movie and 1 Big Monsters Punching Each other Godzilla every couple years.
