Genuinely surprised when this blog gets anonymous hate and death threats. Like, I have unknowingly angered you enough to hold your attention but not enough for you to want to include your name behind your insults. If your takes were good, they wouldn't have to be sent anonymously. Thank you for confirming that I have excellent opinions and an audience to share them with. Enjoy your block; fascism still sucks.

Hi!! Could you talk a little about what following Tolkien elven religion is like for you? (Only if you want, of course.)
I'm a very newly awakened elf and I've just started reading the silmarillion. I haven't even gotten that far yet, but already it's the most connected I've felt to any religious system/religious lore before. I'm considering practicing Elvish religion, but idk. I feel a little strange saying I want to practice a religion from a work of fiction, y'know? (Please don't take this as me saying your beliefs are strange— I think they're incredibly cool. This is very much just a me thing.)
Anyway, I guess my question is something along the lines of How did you realize this was the religion for you/What do you believe wrt Tolkiens work being or not being fiction?
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this, and doubly so if you choose to answer! Have a nice timezone :))
Alatulya, welcome kin! this one is a little long so there is a break. i also accidentally hit publish early, so we will see how editing it works lol.
table of contents: 1. my personal history and variety of practitioners 2. dealing with fictional mythology + my fave paper on this 3. specifics of tolk elven religion
Eldarin religion has been my primary religion (buddhism and my eclectic animistic witchcraft also there and co piloting) for seven years. I have been working with other eldar on our own group experience of this religion for two or a bit more years. I have taken a bit of priestly service role of collecting and organizing materials and keeping track of the calendar, which we call Loa and which assigns different holidays and themes in order throughout the year. i suspect this role is agreeable and natural for me as minya, but that anyone could do it. the degree of demand differs depending on the person, and i would say that much of my time is set to thinking of or practicing our religion. others have less involvement, and some of us feel our cosmology and philosophy is more cultural than religious the way humans might think being a member of a religious group should be. as for my own journey of getting here, i have been otherkin for most of my life and many years of that was 'generally a nature spirit type thing.' which became 'an elf but i am not sure what kind.' which then became 'oh god… am i one of those hoity toity tolkien elves?' bc there is a cultural expectation among elfkin that tolk elves are more dour and care what color clothes you wear or something… turns out that is not true! or, at least, i have not met these grim arbiters of what is becoming of the firstborn! reading the silm and other texts in the legendarium to fill in what i had absorbed from the hobbit and lotr (books and movies) was the lightbulb in the dim cellar. i use a mixed spiritual and psychological theory of origin and function for my several theriotypes and elven kintype, and this experience filled in some gaps i had just been sitting with. i personally feel that i am living one continuous eldarin life--awoken at cuivienen among the minyar, lived and died, spent my time in mandos, and was reembodied here. my sense of memory is dim, and i generally assume that is just a sign that memory is not necessarily important for this part of my life the way it was in arda. it is a great honor to live this life and to find other eldar and folks of all kindreds to share my love of life with. it was natural to transition from my magic and religious work with nature spirits to a cosmology centered on the legendarium-some of the spirits i still work and live with admit they are maiar, others are not maiar and are of the many kinds of spirit and sprite that entered into ea after its foundation to explore. our working relationships and the techniques i use for magic have stayed much the same. so how i do it is just one example in a variety.
2. i will answer first on dealing with the fictional aspect and wrestling with the nature of constructed or pop culture or modern mythology spirituality-the individual beliefs differ there, too!
for my part, i do not think the legendarium is a factual history of this actual world we currently live in. i do think jrrt was channeling something, and may or may not have been kin himself of arda reembodied here.
i think ea, like most faerie realms, is both here and not here and you have to open yourself up and step into it. once most people have experienced the enchantment of an otherworld, they are never fully able to drop the sense of it. i do feel that the legendarium makes a suitable mythopoetic 'history' for powers and themes that apply to both this world and ea and where they overlap, and that the legendarium becomes more historically factual the closer you move into ea and the further you go from current earth.
there is a lovely paper that i surely have annoyed everyone with titled the tolkien spiritual milieu by Markus Altena Davidsen of the university of leiden that really gets into the anatomy of constructed religion and what is present in certain medias that lends itself to that anatomy, which he calls 'religious affordances' in the text. it details a number of groups of many varied beliefs in the tolkien spiritual sphere, some active and some long gone, and i feel that it is a great way to expand one's vocabulary and mental concept of constructed religion and the wide variety that is possible in such constructions. the pdf is available from the university website here
if you check out mr davidsen's other published papers on that website, there are several others also relevant to fiction sourced mythology and spirituality including some by other authors.
3. that being said, there are religious affordances for the eldar in the texts, but not necessarily enough for a fully fleshed out practice as is prepared and given to new members of various world religions. it will take a bit of crafting, but we elves do love to craft! most of us blend legendarium cosmology and philosophy with practices or philosophies we are previously familiar with, like neopaganism or judaism or etc etc.
we have developed some structure in the forms of: a multiply layered observational calendar for the six seasons, eight holidays, twelve months, and seven days of the week; the fourteen valar and several named maiar associated with certain valar; the panentheistic experience of the creator Eru; and the use of witchcraft, meditation, devotional or worship activity, enchantments, glamor, and arts like music poetry painting crochet etc.
most of us practice our own personal flavor by ourselves, and group rituals or ensorcelments are rare at the moment. we are all exploring, and i would be thrilled to hear about your own explorations and what calls to you!
sooo… basically i have a worship and work relationship with our gods and supportive spirits, and give observation on the schedule of the loa. i have daily practices, like offering of beverage an thanks or an oil anointment of my body, and then weekly practices like an eruhini veneration and well wishes for the dead. and monthly practices on the full and dark moon, which is focused on the vala of that month, where i usually do spellwork for the constellation. there are holidays at the start of each season and at the solstices, where i will sometimes do magic for the group but is usually about the personal journey. the one time another elf was physically with me i did do some small rituals including that elda. my herbalism work is inherently religious to me and i also count both learning and practicing herbalism as a devotional activity, same with going on walks or drumming.
i invite you very earnestly to reach out any time and through any means you are comfortable with, and i wish you a very blessed full moon of winds. hantanyel ar namarie!

Been thinking more about Tucker Carlson. The New York Times published a text he apparently sent to one of his producers:
A couple of weeks ago, I was watching video of people fighting on the street in Washington. A group of Trump guys surrounded an Antifa kid and started pounding the living shit out of him. It was three against one, at least. Jumping a guy like that is dishonorable obviously. It’s not how white men fight. Yet suddenly I found myself rooting for the mob against the man, hoping they’d hit him harder, kill him. I really wanted them to hurt the kid. I could taste it. Then somewhere deep in my brain, an alarm went off: this isn’t good for me. I’m becoming something I don’t want to be. The Antifa creep is a human being. Much as I despise what he says and does, much as I’m sure I’d hate him personally if I knew him, I shouldn’t gloat over his suffering. I should be bothered by it. I should remember that somewhere somebody probably loves this kid, and would be crushed if he was killed. If I don’t care about those things, if I reduce people to their politics, how am I better than he is?
I have a few scattered thoughts. Umberto Eco wrote a book called "The Prague Cemetery" which is a fictional story about the anonymous antisemitic author of The Protocols of The Elders of Zion. Something that puzzled me about the book is that the author is simultaneously in two states: He is fully conscious of the fact that the Protocols are lies he is making up, but at the same time the things he writes in the Protocols make him angrier at the Jews.
I found that psychologically perplexing when I first read the book, but as I dip further into the world of the paranoid it makes more and more sense to me.
Second, can you imagine how hard you'd have to work at blinding yourself to say "It’s not how white men fight"?
White men fight like that all the time, as even the most glancing attempt to understand history will tell you. It's so common that, here in the country Tucker and I share, we have a whole special term for white men fighting like that; we call them a "lynch mob".
Third, I have found myself annoyed slightly at left-win coverage of this text, which I have occasionally seen with the tenor of "See, this proves Carlson wasn't just pretending to be a racist on air."
Here's the thing: Media matters has extensively documented Carlson's promotion of color-blind politics, ( see here, here and here). On air, Carlson takes the current mainstream Republican position: That our country's ideal should be racial equality, that Democrats have betrayed the hopes of the luminaries of the civil rights movement by demonizing whites and engaging in collectivist thinking, that in effect modern Democratic politics are abhorrent because the democrats focus on the color of your skin, while people like Tucker wish for a country that focuses on the content of your character.
One thing I've found vexing about the left over the past... oh, decade at least, is a complete incuriosity about why someone like Carlson would spout that kind of thing when he clearly doesn't actually believe it.
If he really was so dedicated to color-blindness and so horribly against the kind of thinking that looks at skin tone and saddles you with the crimes of everybody else who has a similar skin tone, that utter bullshit about "It's not how white people fight" would never have even come into his head. It's not the same as what he says on air, for the most part
EDIT: Let me be more precise: I'm not an expert in Carlson, I'm just dipping my toe in. But Media Matters and other hostile critics have compiled lists of offensive things he's said on air, and those lists contain quotes that are, for the most part, not quite of a piece with his distress at white people not living up to their race in that post. If Carlson routinely talked on air about how white people fight, I feel Media Matters would alert me to it. So even though I haven't seen much of his stuff, I have looked into at least one extensive timeline of his "decline into white supremacy" and I feel like that suffices for this point.
The more I learn about him the more it stands out how incredibly little he cares about consistency or coherency of his ideas. The shit he spouts about how the democrats are going to let the immigrants outvote you and that's not how democracy ought to work is... in tension, let us say, with his "Actually DEI is exactly like Nazism" garbage. But I'd say even that is distinct from this white pride horseshit.
But I wonder if there are fans of his that are pissed that he gave so much fuel to left-wingers in that text. They like to say that people who rant about DEI and lament the way that it has introduced racial guilt into a world that should be free of such stains are actually just secret bigots, and, whoops! Tucker Carlson is totally a secret bigot.

🥳 Happy Birthday The Bell Jar! 🎂 The Sylva Plath Calendar - 60 years ago today: Sylvia Plath‘s only novel The Bell Jar was published in the UK on Monday, 14 January 1963 by Heinemann under the pseudonym Victoria Lucas, 28 days before her death. Plath called the novel “an autobiographical apprentice work which I had to write in order to free myself from the past” and said: “What I’ve done is to throw together events from my own life, fictionalizing to add color- it’s a pot boiler really, but I think it will show how isolated a person feels when he is suffering a breakdown…. I’ve tried to picture my world and the people in it as seen through the distorting lens of a bell jar” Source: Biographical Note by Lois Ames, in: The Bell Jar, Bantam Windstone, 1981 . If you want to learn more about the creation and publication history of The Bell Jar, I highly recommend Peter K. Steinberg’s blog post from 14 January 2013 at sylviaplathinfo.blogspot.com: “Sylvia Plath's The Bell Jar Published 50 Years Ago Today”. . Trans Cult: “By saying he identifies as woman now he’s mocking our struggles” Women: “That must feel insulting” 🙄
MUNCIE, Ind. (TND) — A GOP councilman in Indiana has announced that he now identifies as a woman of color and a lesbian, but critics say they believe he is just being insincere and mocking marginalized people by doing so.
Delaware County Councilman Ryan Webb announced on Facebook that he had "decided to come out and finally feel comfortable announcing my true authentic self."
“It is with great relief that I announce to everyone that I identify as a woman and not just any woman but as a woman of color as well. I guess this would make me gay/lesbian as well, since I am attracted to women.," Webb said.
“Whew, that felt good to finally get that out there and start living life as my true self. I’m excited to bring some diversity to the county council," Webb added, "Until today we didn’t have any females of color or LGBTQIAPC+++ on the council. I’m glad that now we do!"
Webb also included a "winky face" emoji in his Facebook announcement. Many of the replies to his post call Webb "pathetic" and "embarrassing" for his perceived mockery of transgender, nonbinary and other LGBT groups.
Tumblr media
Delaware County's government website says Webb is a father of five and married to his wife Brandy. In his coming out announcement, Webb clarifies that everyone can continue calling him "Ryan" or "Councilman Webb" and that he will retain his preferred pronouns of "He/Him."
“However, this will in no way diminish my true identity as a woman of color," Webb claims in the post.
In a later edit of the same post, Webb adds that it had come to his attention that his new identity "more than likely" makes him "the very first lesbian woman of color in the history of Delaware County to ever serve on the Delaware county council."
Webb added that he was "honored" to be the person to "shatter that glass ceiling." Webb also added the hashtag "#GirlPower" in his edit. Webb also edited his announcement from originally claiming his new identity aligned with that of a Black woman to the current reading, where he maintains calling himself a woman of color.
When local news station WISH-TV reached out to Webb asking if he would like to do an interview on his new identity, Webb reportedly declined an on-camera interview, but still provided a statement.
The councilman told the news station that his family had been "receiving violent threats throughout the day from intolerant liberals who refuse to accept my decision to live my life however I choose," and that he didn't "really see how an interview will improve the situation."
“It is unfortunate, but a group called Indiana Progressives has decided to organize a hate and harassment campaign against me and my family by publishing my address and encouraging people to unlawfully congregate at my home," Webb told WISH-TV. "I have to look out for the safety of my family, including our 6 children. There are people with serious mental health issues encouraging people who are unwelcome to come to my home, so I think it’s best to politely decline your on-camera interview."
Webb reportedly added that he found it "unfortunate" he could not "simply be given the same space and respect to explore my identity that so many of those targeting me demand for themselves." Webb also told WISH-TV that while his "American Indian heritage is not up for debate," it remains "possible I may change my mind down the road."
“I hope that in the future those asking for tolerance and understanding are willing to give it in return and not just to those who they feel is worthy of it," Webb added. "Nobody has the authority to validate or invalidate any individual who chooses to identify a certain way."
Again, Webb's critics simply don't believe he is adopting a new identity, and is instead mocking transgender, nonbinary and other marginalized people with his public social media post.
The National Desk reached out to Webb for comment and clarification on his announcement. Webb said the following:
“Thanks for reaching out. I don’t believe I am compelled to offer anyone and proof of my sincerity or pass any perceived litmus test of questions in order to live my life however I choose. If they don’t want to accept my position of identifying however I choose then that is their issue, not mine. As of today I have yet to hear of any other individual who was pressured to “prove” their gender identity. How I identify is how I identify, it’s as simple as that and isn’t up for debate. I’m focused on my private life as well as my duties serving the people of Delaware County.”

Working With Dragons: The UPG Dilemma
One of the most useful pieces of advice in any part of the Witchcraft community is "do your research, especially through non-witchy sources." Why is this? Because mundane history is trackable, peer-reviewed, verified fact. For the most part. Pagan publishers, on the other hand, don't exactly have a track record of editing for historical accuracy, and such claims as "Wicca comes from an unbroken chain of ancient witch cults/is itself an old religion" tend to get perpetuated for a few decades.
Where does this fit into dragon magic? Fact is, there is very little to no historic precedent for this path. The closest is perhaps Eastern veneration of dragons as natural forces and deities (if there's ancient Eastern dragon magic practices, I'm not privy to them), but the Western idea of dragons as "allies/co-magicians" is a much more modern invention. The oldest book I know of is Ian Corrigan's "The Book of the Dragon: A New Grimoire" from 1983, which highly influenced the more commonly-known and widely available "Dancing With Dragons" by D.J. Conway (1994), which has seemingly informed most material on dragon magic since.
This is important because it illustrates the point that, unless you're working with archetypal dragons drawn from known mythology, you're going to be relying almost 100% on someone's Unverified Personal Gnosis, be it your own or someone who put forth the effort to build a magical system and put it out into the world. There are things a few authors have openly stated only came about as a result of channeling dragons. This in itself isn't much of an issue.
Where the trouble comes from is when this UPG starts being treated as infallible and absolute truth; one of the biggest examples of this is the topic of dragon types and colors. It is extremely common to see newcomers asking around for help identifying a dragon they came into contact with to learn more about it, and having several people jump in with Conway's books or something they learned through their own UPG and never consider that what is true for them may not be true for the person they're trying to help. Afterwards, said fresh inquirer may learn something different from their dragon and then run into the cognitive dissonance of "this contradicts what I was told, am I wrong?" leading to self-doubt. You shouldn't feel like you have to discard the things you learn through your experience because it doesn't fit into the popular established system. There is technically no 'correct' or 'incorrect' for something that does not have objective fact supporting it. And no, even saying something came to you directly from the dragons does not make it *universally* true.
This is all why, while I may heavily disagree with certain written materials, I would only rarely say to not read the books available at all; those rare cases are largely when those books are plagiarized, not because I feel the author is pulling random things from their ass. This is also why I love occasionally perusing the socials and seeing what other draconic practitioners have to say about their own path and their relationship with dragons, because that information can tell you a whole lot about how the magician themself approaches dragon magic. And I love seeing how different it can be from what has become commonly parroted.
Does this widening dearth of UPG make the subject of dragon magic a little muddy and harder to navigate? Maybe, but witchcraft in general isn't for those looking for fast, easy answers, now is it?

15 questions
Tagged by @aemondtragaryen. Thank you for tagging me!!
1. are you named after anyone?
Not for my first name but my middle names are the female equivalent of one of my grandfather's and then the other one comes from an F1 driver who died right before I was born. I can't explain my parentals' thinking behind that either.
2. when was the last time you cried?
Today, watching Clara Oswald edits because I forgot how much I love her.
3. do you have kids?
No, I can barely keep my plants alive.
4. do you use sarcasm a lot?
It's in my top three coping strategies.
5. what's the first thing you notice about people?
Probably their energy towards me. I'm a very socially anxious person so I notice whether they seem interested in engaging with me before I invest any more time in them. Otherwise, eyes and hands. Always.
6. what's your eye color?
Blue but like a stormy blue? This may just be me in denial over having grey-ish eyes.
7. scary movies or happy endings?
Both! But not at the same time, I want all of my scary movies to have a dark ending to match the failings in society they are reflecting, thanks.
8. any special talents?
I can bake reasonably well, cry on demand (and not on demand) and get lost on a straight road :)
9. where were you born?
In the U.K. but I have managed to at least move away from the place I was born over the course of my 28 years of living.
10. what are your hobbies?
I love to consume media via books, film and television, think about that media an unhealthy amount, bake, run and pretend to be cultured at the theatre and exhibitions while understanding so, so little.
11. have you any pets?
No, but my top priority now that I have my own place is to buy a cat. My dad has the world's stupidest cat and he is my angel.
12. what sports do you play/have you played?
I used to play field hockey and water polo while I was at uni, but now I just run because it's cheap and I am poor.
13. how tall are you?
I am a giant at 5'10.
14. favorite subject in school?
English Lit, History and Latin filled me with joy.
15. dream job?
I absolutely love my current job but otherwise I'd love to either go into publishing and be paid to read for a living or go into academia and study literature for life.
Tagging @shaunasjackie @tuseranita @vsenyatargaryen @ben--solos @demontargaryen @grandlovescheme @valarrtargaryen @bcygenivs @targaryeirene @targaryenbrainrot + anyone else who wants to do it :)

Tumblr media
hi anon i love you. thank you for thisi question (i just woke up) you have no idea how excited i am to talk about this. had to make a post since it didnt wanna publish ur ask :( in the ideal world AMPHIMAL (all capitals for silly) is a 14 episode 2D animated tv show (heavily inspired by gennedy tartakovsky's work - particularly with samurai jack and primal, as well as mike mignola's work on hellboy) (AND SERGIO PABLOS!!) (wait edit: AND the old animated batman movies) HOWEVER. i have had many many thoughts about its ACTUAL format as a webcomic. i think it works best in this format cause the internal dialogue is important and you'd lose that in a show (i have many many thoughts about how media format influences tone/overall storytelling) particularly i'd like to execute it as a webcomic set with unconventional format - im very inspired by indie comics such as quinn - a horror webcomic made by moby, tumblr linked here, an artist who's work ive followed for a while and who's work first piqued my interest in breaking "traditional" webcomic format. yugo limbo and mike mignola (there he is again!) are also huge inspirations. (and another webcomic im too embarrassed to say) im in love with the  idea of using the website itself as a backdrop for your visuals - it would be a mix of script, prose, intermingling with cinema-like stills as visuals - this is because traditional comics are difficult for me, i THINK in camera angles and shot layouts, not necessarily comic panels. i also plan on having annotations throughout the story, for secrets and descriptions of certain era-specific objects as fun optional facts - although when i actually put it all together on a website, this feature could be toggled. ideally it would be non-intrusive - think the note system from pentiment. the biggest inspirations i draw for AMPHIMAL though is Hellboy full stop in terms of palettes, visuals, and style. i plan on further solidifying and developing the "look" of amphimal as i do more research on victorian cultural and architecture motifs (they don't even know about the henry jekyll architecture associations) and also because i am the world's most unnecessarily detail-oriented person. my current work reflects moreso how i plan on amphimal looking when its published, with stark shadows, black shapes taking forefront, limited and striking palettes with heavy emphasis on color, shape, and object motifs. i am putting an unnecessary and frankly embarrassing amount of thought into literally every single detail (AND striving for semi-historical accuracy) (which is extremely difficult due to the lack of primary sources / bias in papers and the lack of accounts of certain aspects of victorian life, such as lgbt history and london’s underbelly of the era. particularly because many primary accounts are rife with racism, bigotry and inaccuracies - and they don’t paint a complete picture, so much of what i show WILL be speculation and not historically accurate) as for SCRIPT? behind the scenes its pretty rough - i have my charts and notes, but they're all pretty disorganized and i don't think i could share them without 1. spoiling a LOT of stuff (it doesnt differ from the original plot in any way, it just has far, far more depth into the characters - and some stuff i want to keep a secret!) 2. exposing just how deranged my note-taking skills are. amphimal currently exists only in pages and charts and key visuals i've made for myself that i MUST compile in a clean format for personal use (and sharing among those who can take peeks behind the scenes) as for key points oh boy. my favorite chapter and the one i'm most excited to write is utterson's search and first meeting with hyde. second favorite is utterson's scenes involving lanyon's death (he does die in amphimal, that i'm not changing - i thought about it at first but scrapped it) these moments show off utterson's character at key points OUTSIDE of jekyll (an absolute necessity!) - and he is, by far, my favorite protagonist out of all my projects. and i love him your honor ANYWAY ummm i dont really have much else to write other than thank u for sending this question!!! artistic format / experimentation is one of my favorite things to talk about. as for WHEN amphimal is gonna be a thing, it'll be in the future when i'm in a better living situation (and when the full amphimal theory bible is compiled - i'm obsessed with consistency between scenes and background motifs, so this will work as a reference for me once the project gets started however this will and is currently taking a LOT of research) ETA? later. possibly next year if i'm not too busy adjusting to the city im moving to. dont know yet but it'll happen. i'll make amphimal before i die promise because if i dont my spirit will never sleep peacefully

About Me: Hey, y’all I’m Nina E. I’m Black/Puerto Rican and in the 35+ gang. LG(B)T+ with a preference for men (unfortunately). I’ve been writing since I was 16 years old and I don’t ever see myself stopping. I am a former self published author but removed my book for re-edits. I’m also in the process of working on my second novel. I’m a huge advocate for inclusive writing but I personally write for Black Women Of Color due to lack of fics not catered to us. I rant about a lot of things and will call you out on your bullshit. No. Questions. Asked…Who I Write For: I mainly write for Chris Evans and many of his characters including: Frank Adler, Steve Rogers, Jake Jensen, and Syd from the movie London. I will also be adding Andy Barber, Ransom Drysdale, Colin Shea, and Johnny Storm. I also write for Jensen Ackles and Dean Winchester, Charlie Hunnam and Jax Teller (will be adding more characters for him too). I have now also included Joe Keery and Steve Harrington into my writing…Favorite Writing Tropes: I know many people don’t like it but I love a good pregnancy trope. So don’t be surprised if all my fics end up with the reader pregnant. I’m also a sucker for an angsty cheating scandal. I love an established relationship with lots of history, friends to lovers, and also enemies to lovers. I like writing dark-ish themed fics with some needed fluff…What I Want To Write: I really want to write a good A/B/O story but smut isn’t really my strong suit. I also want to write more magical/supernatural themed gifs.

Are Your Requests Open:
No, they are not. I am just trying to focus on the fics I have.
Will Your Requests Open:
Eventually.
Am I Still Able To Send In Requests:
Yes, you’re more than welcome to. If it something that inspires me, I might just take it into consideration.

At this time, I do not. Maybe in the future. But if you would like to donate you can Buy Me Coffee.
Will You Only Write Black!Fem Readers:
Yes, at this time. I only write for Black Women and Mixed Black Women as there are not many fics out there for us. I don’t have any plans to write any Gender Neutral!Reader or Male!Readers since I am not very comfortable writing it. Maybe in the future, I will.
Do You Write Smut:
Not very often, as I’m not really good at it, but yes I do.
If I’m A Minor Can I Still Follow You:
I’m very sorry, but my page is 18+ only. I can’t take that chance, so if I find out you are I will be forced to block you.

assuming this means irl, I think it’s hair or clothes, depending on which is more neat. I put way too much thought into Outfits so if someone has an Outfit then I Will stare. I’m sorry. your fit looks cool and I want to memorize it
6. What's your eye color?
brown, babey
7. Scary movies or happy endings?
I can’t stand most “scary movies”, personally -- I’m absolutely terrible with jump scares and visceral gore (gore itself is fine, but the point where you have to See someone getting tortured / bleed is Eughhh... I just end up feeling it on my own body like a shitty version of Parable of the Sower and it’s just not fun).
that said I DO love a good tragedy or thriller, and psychological horror is like candy to me. maybe even more so than I enjoy a good happy ending. though mr jordan peele has spoiled my tastes in this with his movies that are both Scary As Hell but also have “happy” endings, which is to say, my preference is when a movie is Both. but I also just enjoy a good happy ending, so. yeah.
8. Any special talents?
my joke answer here is “how incredibly bad my memory is”, but my slightly better answer, based on how other people react, is my ability to steer / bike without using handlebars and balancing stuff. I have proprioception 100
9. Where were you born?
alexandria, va. almost a capitol baby but not quite
10. What are your hobbies?
currently, mostly drawing and reading, but I also like snorkeling, biking, and cooking. also enjoy video & board games a lot
11. Do you have any pets?
not at the moment. I wish.
12. What sports do you/have you played?
Uhhhhh well if I were still in high school I would jokingly say “marching band” here but in all honesty none. I love volleyball casually though
13. How tall are you?
5′7
14. Favorite subject in school?
Middle/high school: history class! I would hyperfixate so hard
Uni/college: religious studies! I!! love!! gloria anzaldua!! also religious studies let me engage in my favorite hobby: thinking about Death
15. Dream job?
Literary publishing editor or small press editor (not as a literary agent or “editor” in that sense, but as an in-house copyeditor and proofreader for a publishing house). sadly I do not live in nyc, the one city where those jobs are offered, so instead I am simply. a freelance editor. hmu. I can do varying types of editing and can give input as an ex-reader for literary magazines. this is not a joke.
thanks for tagging me! will likewise tag @captain-lovelace and @necrokris if you would like to join in

The book cover is important, but so is content
Tumblr media
Correspondent Priyanka Tanwar interacted with journalist-author Sudeep Chakravarti at the Jaipur Literature Festival 2022 on his transition from journalism to writing books, the significance of a book cover design, inspiration, depiction of history in school textbooks, and more. Here are some edited excerpts from the interview:
Indian Printer and Publisher (IPP) – You have been an author for over 15 years now. What led you to choose this profession?
Sudeep Chakravarti – Well, maybe for me it wasn't that difficult a leap of faith because I was first a journalist and I think I still am in some ways, even though I write creative nonfiction and fiction and short stories. I have always written – I have always written from the time when I started working as a trainee journalist. I have been trained to write. I have always tried to inject mood and color and personality and tone and taps to the best of my abilities into whatever I wrote, even if it was a small piece and not always a cover story or a launch feature. So, I think I transitioned in 2004-2005 from the life of a pure played journalist to also adopting the life of a writer who loves books or stories and move away from exclusively being a journalist to being hyphenated now. So the journalist-author – it wasn't too difficult for me.
Of course, writing fiction was very, very different to writing non-fiction. So, maybe in some ways, writing non-fiction comes to me more easily, because it's a craft I have known from my first year as a writer, as a journalist. But fiction is something I have learned to love, I have learned to apply. I am writing a collection of poetry, which is new for me. I have just started writing thanks to Covid for the past two years. I am trying to write a play and my fourth novel, which is long overdue. I want to write screenplays, I want to collaborate graphic novels, I am having a blast with the writer's life.
Tumblr media
Sudeep Chakravarti – My latest book is a work of non-fiction, which is very strongly reportage oriented, very strongly narrative-driven as well. It's actually a mix of genres. The name of the book is The Eastern Gate: War and Peace in Nagaland, Manipur and India's Far East. It's located in Northeast India and its focus is on the region but at its core it also becomes a discussion about the peace process in the region. As we speak, there is a Naga peace process, there is a peace process in Manipur. It's located in that zone and I have tried a sort of a reporter's notebook-kind-of-approach to this narrative nonfiction by injecting this new element, which I personally have not done before in quite the manner that I understand. I am quite excited about it – the reception has been good, people seem to like this hybrid kind of book where I am using very careful reportage techniques with narrative nonfiction and history and culture. I actually believe in hybrid books – I don't like to isolate a book into just one particular approach, I like multiple styles, approaches because real life is like that. It's not black and white, it's not binary, it's all grey and as it is mixed. I would like to approach my writing and the subjects of my books in that way as well.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
IPP – What is your take on the depiction of history in school textbooks?
Sudeep Chakravarti – I think they can do a lot better. I do not think that school children in India are being taught history the way they should be taught history. They need to be taught history with a lot more depth, with a lot more honesty, a lot more application and in a lot more fun manner to make history more accessible to the students. They don't need to have history thrown at them. History is, after all, a retelling of our past, whatever the interpretation maybe. Now, if you rewrite the history, if you tell the history dishonestly you are corrupting entire generations of children who deserve better, who deserve history in its most empathetic and honest interpretation possible – that is honest history and that is not being taught!
IPP – There are allegations that the current government is changing the course of history. Would you like to comment?
Sudeep Chakravarti – Yes, I think they should stop doing it because I think we're going to be trapping down some very dark alibis already on account of this approach. I think it should stop immediately. If the government doesn't see good sense in doing so, then I think it's a blind end weapon and they are going to pay a very heavy price for their good risk. I am afraid the children of India are already paying a very heavy price for their heedless and arrogance and blind belief in what history ought to be.
Tumblr media
Sudeep Chakravarti – It contributes to it. I don't know to what degree or to what extent because if there is a book that is sold by the cover, there is also a cliche that says don't judge a book by its cover. Both are true, covers are often extremely wonderful. My first book that I ever wrote – a book of fiction called Tin Fish has this startlingly striking cover. I am very proud of the covers of all the nine books I have written. I think each is better than the other but I think the content is equally important. So, the cover contributes to the book but it is not the only factor that drives acceptance of the book.
IPP – Where do you derive the inspiration for your books?
Sudeep Chakravarti – From the world around us – my inspiration is our past, our present and our future as well. I derive my inspiration from the world I see.
IPP – Would you like to give a message to our readers?
Sudeep Chakravarti – Read – that is my primary message to your readers. Remain readers. Do not stop reading. Writers need readers. Readers need writers. We need each other and reading is this wonderful, glorious thing. Please keep reading.

Very Best Quality Replica Bottega Veneta Purses
The succinct geometry creates a pattern of surreal changing perspectives. Colorful intarsia silk dresses, attractive shearling coats, basic baggage corresponding to The Lauren 1980 and Knot Clutch, geometric elements are everywhere. The autumn and winter collections of women’s jewelry collections also use this design detail to create miniature artwork statues in the type of earrings, rings and cuffs. In the men’s collection, the grey felt cashmere sweater features a cheerful and bright intarsia sample, while the men’s jacket includes a cube-stitched design with a clear define and the identical size. The brand appointed Daniel Lee as creative director in 2018 – Daniel’s interpretation and growth of the brand’s accumulation and essence by way of a modern aesthetic perspective, revitalizing Replica Bottega Veneta Bags. Structured leather-based jackets, skirts and tailored trousers accentuate the brand’s refined class; silk blouses, casual knitwear and windbreakers exude a female look through beautiful decoration and colourful prints. New comments are only accepted for three days from the date of publication. I get lots of my inspiration from my grandfather who was a painter, and his pursuits in finding the gorgeous within the broken or imperfect – one thing that will not be thought of lovely in everybody's eye. I think that one thing that is "just" stunning can be fairly boring. There must be something else there, one thing that shifts the steadiness. As I haven’t heard this web site earlier than,I was slightly apprehensive concerning the safety of this replica website. But my mom insisted and eventually I paid for the bag by way of credit card. That is a significant deal in the event that you just come to imagine that you are spending a small quantity of what you'll have paid for a unique lady’s tote and nonetheless get the chance to wear a stupendous pack which can draw in everyone’s eyes on you. It has an excellent cultivating effect on the reader’s sense of trend and aesthetics. The shoulder straps are cleverly designed with two backs, that are very elegant to hold, and they will not be embarrassed to be caught under the armpit , modern and fashionable, commuting and touring All fit. Dear Purse Queen, I am on the hunt for an ideal replica of the Hermes Evelyne bag. The two websites I knew of, Voguekingbag and bagsheaven apparently aren't good! Their prices were good and some my pals that purchased in the past from them did have luck with the bags and the wallets. In 2001, when Tomas Maier started his publish as inventive director, he clearly noticed the characteristics of this small and spherical box-type purse, which he designed for a brand new round of leather-based ties. Since then, Knot purse will usually re-interpretation of different designs, in every quarter have new work. https://phoenet.tw/bottega-veneta.html Strong preparation handbags dominate history started with the new modifications, from handbags, messenger bag Bottega Veneta night baggage, envelopes, packages, and so on., the craftsmanship of the BV once more shine with new vitality. In this publish I might be reviewing the Bottega Veneta Olimpia bag in the nero shade (a.k.a black) and in the small dimension. The new series of the world’s limited edition of 250 shade sheepskin water snake skin butterfly Knot hand bag, every holding a replica bag tote with more than forty butterfly form decoration, contains three specifications, 5 shapes, made of 4 totally different leather-based. wikipedia handbags Many butterflies are handmade and thoroughly woven onto the reminiscence leather. Some butterflies are additionally stamped with metallic studs, distributed charming flying impact. If you look from the underside, you will note the traditional Replica Bottega Veneta Bags weave sample emerge. However, we now have discovered they are truly very spacious with additional room for more than just your essentials. [newline]For a person, a bag is more than just a necessity – it is something that holds every little thing you want for your day, and much extra. And for something that essential, it is important that you just own one thing that represents your aesthetics and style sense. A Bottega Venetta is a model for each kind of customer – so it is important that you find a bag that fits your personality one of the best. The outer layer is supplied with an adjustable thin calfskin strap, which is topped with a brass hardware adjustment buckle. In addition to the classic wild white, Cassette Bag has 4 other colours, such because the noble Ottanio, the brilliant Topazio, the deep Fondente and the eye-catching raspberry Amaranto. My start line was solving sustainablility problems, which then gave me ideas for the designs — issues like how to create multifunctional and versatile clothes along with how to use waste and deadstock materials. Then I got into Beckmans College of Design in Stockholm in 2017 and began my brand after I graduated in 2020. I really think of fashion as my method of expressing myself, and making people really feel extra assured, empowered, and sexy carrying my designs is a great feeling. Since we’re so near Christmas, and you’ve all been SO good this 12 months, we’ve decided to start dishing up the actually great things. This week, it’s grandes Maisons galore, with a quadruple-whammy of fashion’s best heavyweights dropping actual items of collections. Black painted edges and black stitching accentuate the craftsmanship of its delicate craftsmanship. As an important design spotlight of the season, the summary weave pattern is mixed into Tambura luggage, Nodini, Alumna and the new Facade Tote bag in a wide range of luggage and small leather-based designs. Replica Bottega Veneta handbags iconic woven craft has been reborn. One of two items designed by the brand’s creative director Daniel Lee, the new Maxi Cabat bag boasts a 4cm-wide woven leather-based. Whether it’s 20 strips of Nappa lambskin or two days of hand weaving by artisans, every Maxi Cabat bag is real. If you’ve ever come throughout a Chanel Jumbo in lambskin you’ll have an concept as to how delicate lambskin could be. Now this softness is not with out detriment – the leather is rather more simply scratched than more rough leathers (e.g. caviar leather). The leather-based on this Bottega Veneta bag is especially gentle and buttery, and I would say it scratches even easier than a Chanel bag in labmskin . Replica Bottega Veneta bag imitations and the real thing to have the ability to do the identical, using a soft leather materials, the bag physique may be very mild, it isn't very straightforward to do. To know that they are also used in fabrics like those prime lambskin cloth, why would you need to be more comfortable than different house bag texture it? Because Moltedo family legislation exclusively woven leather, the leather woven with some ways to cope with, most probably a bundle requires skilled craftsmen with 3-4 days to finish. Are you in a place to inform us where you purchased it from as there are such a lot of sites but very few that provide nice high quality and aren’t a scam. Of course as I actually have mentioned numerous times the leather-based on a replica bag is amongst the key indicators of the quality of the bag. If the leather and hardware of the replica bag is on level then the possibilities are the relaxation of the bag ought to be good to go as well. Another key level to concentrate to when analyzing the accuracy of a duplicate bag is in the interior of the bag. Kim Kardashian’s relationship with Fashion Nova, and her lawsuit involving Missguided, is almost family knowledge at this point . This article, following a quick discussion of the IP protection available in concept to clothes designers, briefly addresses IP protection—or a lack thereof—in the “Menswear” industry, and touches on concerns for customers. The Bottega Veneta bag starts off at a hefty worth of $3,000 and rises relying on the color and materials.

I discovered that my local library's ebook selection only had "First Lensman" out of the whole series, shrugged and checked it out anyway, and - well - long story short, my cosplayer's heart went all a-flutter over Jill's "violent shade of 'radio-active' green" dress from the Ambassadors' Ball.
I'm leaning kind of "Iris van Herpen but 1950s spacefuture" as I try to design something based on the description given (the nature of the bodice in particular made me think of her designs), but then I realized you'd probably know if there was an illustrated edition out there to use as further reference. So - is there? Or am I flying blind beyond the implicit influence of eveningwear styles in the year the book was published?
(Either way, I finally have an excuse to dip my toes into constructing an evening gown! Thank you for selling me on this series!)
I am delighted to hear I inspired you. My statement there was not entirely serious and I never expected anyone would do it. I'd like to see what you come up with. You should consider looking into the works of my personal favorite fashion designer, Charles James, active from the 40s-60s. One of the most striking things about his outfits are the simplicity. This, for instance, is all one piece of cloth, the emphasis is not on frills or ornamentation but streamlining, calling attention to the silhouette.
Tumblr media
There are a couple moments in the Lensman books you should probably take a look at, if you're interested in costume ideas for women that are evening gowns. The first is the Grand Ball for the Grand Fleet in Chapter 2 of Gray Lensman. I always liked that one because it was a rare glimpse of what everyday life in the Lensman Galaxy looked like. We spent too much time with Lensman and in the criminal underworld and with battle fleets.
Tumblr media
The city's largest ball-room was a blaze of light and color. A thousand polychromatic lamps flooded their radiance downward through draped bunting upon an even more colorful throng. Two thousand items of feminine loveliness were there, in raiment whose fabrics were the boasts of hundreds of planets, whose hues and shades put the spectrum itself to shame. There were over two thousand men, clad in plain or beribboned or bemedaled full civilian dress, or in the variously panoplied dress uniforms of the many Services.
"You're dancing with Miss Forrester first, Kinnison," the surgeon introduced them informally, and the Lensman found himself gliding away with a stunning blonde, ravishingly and revealingly dressed in a dazzlingly blue wisp of Manarkan glamorette--fashion's dernier cri.
To the uninformed, Kinnison's garb of plain gray leather might have seemed incongruous indeed in that brilliantly and fastidiously dressed assemblage. But to those people, as to us of today, the drab, starkly utilitarian uniform of the Unattached Lensman transcended far any other, however resplendent, worn by man: and literally hundreds of eyes followed the strikingly handsome couple as they slid rhythmically out upon the polished floor. But a measure of the tall beauty's customary poise had deserted her. She was slimly taut in the circle of the Lensman's arm, her eyes were downcast, and suddenly she missed a step.
I don't recommend dressing up as a Lyranian at all, unless you wish to be very very popular. Although there is one notable and terrible female villain, in a series for which that is a rarity: one of the Black Lensmen, the evil counterparts created to counter the Lensmen, is a psionically gifted female Lyranian.
Another outfit that probably suggests itself is in Second Stage Lensmen, when Clarissa becomes the Red Lensman, the first female Lensman in history. Clarissa MacDougal was prone to Midwestern modesty to the point it was hysterical:
Tumblr media
It was, and very shortly Sector Chief Nurse Clarrissa MacDougall appeared in her wonted immaculately-white, stiffly-starched uniform. She would not wear the Grays to which she was entitled; nor would she--except when defying Kinnison--claim as her right any one of the perquisites or privileges which were so indubitably hers. She was not, never had been, and never would or could be a real Lensman, she insisted. At best, she was only a synthetic--or an imitation--or a sort of amateur--or maybe a "Red" Lensman--handy to have around, perhaps, for certain kinds of jobs, but absolutely and definitely not a regular Lensman. And it was this attitude which was to make the Red Lensman not merely tolerated, but loved as she was loved by Lensmen, Patrolmen, and civilians alike throughout the length, breadth, and thickness of Civilization's bounds.

Hello tumblr. I have returned from a long period of inactivity, because I must bring the good word to the corner of the Star Wars fandom that used to be my main fannish home: there is a new era of Star Wars canon that was made just for our taste. It is called the High Republic.
WHAT IS THE HIGH REPUBLIC?
Tumblr media
The High Republic is an giant multi-media project being carried out by the Lucasfilm story group to create a brand new era of Star Wars canon. It is set a few hundred years before the prequel era (so, a long time after the Old Republic era), in a period of peace and stability within the Republic. It currently includes several English language adult novels, a YA novel, two serialized comics, a manga, some short stories, and some short video blurbs published on facebook and youtube. A TV show for Disney+ has also been announced, but is a few years off. This project is unique in Star Wars, in that all of the different parts are being written together by one writing team, and are coordinated to tell a cohesive story. Also, what has been announced is just the beginning – they have stated that there will be three different sections of the High Republic, and everything we have had announced so far is just part one. As a note: this is an era for which there was NO pre-existing canon in Legends, so it is totally new territory.
OKAY, THAT’S NICE, BUT WHY SHOULD I BOTHER TO CHECK IT OUT?
Tumblr media
There are SO many reasons why the High Republic is worth your time to explore. I will try to outline some of them here below the cut (without any significant spoilers).
IT IS A LOVE LETTER TO THE JEDI
Tumblr media
This is the era for everyone who loves the Jedi and wants to understand how they got to the point they did in the prequel era. It shows Jedi at their best: saving people, working together, being completely in tune with the Force (in so many beautiful and original ways), demonstrating creativity and flexibility and being rewarded for it, actually thinking through the ethics of things like the mind trick, and DEALING with their emotions rather than repressing them. It shows us how the rigid Jedi culture was saw in the prequels was a corruption of something that was originally healthy and uplifting. Jedi in this era are allowed to be flawed, and to grow, and have a community that supports them in doing so. This is the Jedi culture so many of us created as fix it fic for the prequel era, but made canon.
IT IS AN ERA OF HOPE
Tumblr media
There are some serious problems in the High Republic Era. Without spoilers, the era opens with a terrible humanitarian crisis, laid over the Republic equivalent of the New Deal from US history.  We see a lot of examples of people doing their best to be good to each other, and working for a more just and kind galaxy. They acknowledge that things are not perfect, but people from many different backgrounds (Jedi, politicians, farmers, pilots, business people) work together to try and make things better. I don’t know about you all, but with the darkness we see in the world today, I NEED some of that optimism in my escapist media. The High Republic provides that.
IT WILL GIVE YOU FEELINGS
Tumblr media
The existing material so far is structured to really let you emotionally invest in the characters and their struggles. Unlike with many eras of Star Wars canon, characterization is not sacrificed for the sake of plot (though never fear, there is PLENTY of plot). That means there is huge scope for empathy. I’m not going to lie; I cried within the first three chapters of Light of the Jedi, as did several other people I know. It is POIGNANT in a way that feels truly genuine.
IT IS FUN
Tumblr media
The writing team understands that, in the end, Star Wars is space fantasy. If your space fantasy is nothing but serious, gritty grimdark, it becomes pretentious and unbearable. So, for all that there is some heavy content in the High Republic (VERY heavy content – the Nihil should really have their own content warning), it has many moments of levity that keep it from taking itself too seriously. For example, the High Republic made Jedi bodice rippers canon. Also, characters like Geode exist (yes, that rock there is a CHARACTER). The result is something which honors the spirit of Star Wars, and keeps you engaged without being tedious or ridiculously depressing.
THE WRITING TEAM HAS DIVERSE PERSPECTIVES
Tumblr media
The main writing team consists of five people: Justina Ireland, Claudia Gray, Charles Soule, Daniel José Older, and Cavan Scott. You will note that includes two people of color, two women, and one out Queer person (in fact, one of the writers is all three of those things). This is a far cry from the white-cis-straight-man-dominated writing teams we have seen in the past. And when they bring in other people to the project, they make a point of looking for perspectives that aren’t represented on their team – for example, the manga is being co-written between Justina Ireland and Japanese writer Shima Shinya, and Ireland has stated in interviews that Shinya is taking the lead on the writing.
IT VALUES MEANINGFUL REPRESENTATION
Tumblr media
That diverse writing team means a cast that looks WAY more like the real world than any other era of Star Wars we’ve seen, in terms of representation. There are multiple characters of color, who are both heroes and central to the story. There are at least five canonical queer characters to date (a MLM couple, an Ace character, and two NB character).  [EDIT: Thank you @legok9 for letting me know about the NB characters]. Among binary gendered characters, there is a very even balance of men and women. The writing team has also stated that they will be incorporating more representation of disability in the works to come. And the story is so much better for it – representation is included here BECAUSE it makes for more creative, believable, and original storytelling.
IT IS ACCESSIBLE
Tumblr media
Because of the multiple formats, and the fact that it doesn’t rely on you knowing any prior lore, the High Republic offers many avenues to engage for people with all kinds of needs. Know nothing about Star Wars canon and feel intimidated about catching up? The canon is all new in this era anyway, so you’re fine. Can’t handle flashing lights? No problem – the little bit of video content that exists is totally free from the strobing effects that caused seizure and sensory issues. Need purely audio content? You can still have a full experience of the High Republic with the gorgeously sound-scaped audiobooks. Don’t have the attention span for books or long movies? Then the comics are your friend.
THERE IS SOMETHING FOR ALL
Tumblr media
Between the books aimed towards adults and teens (and their respective audiobooks), the kids books, the comics, the manga, the short stories, AND the eventual TV show on Disney+, there is going to be content in the High Republic that suits most audiences. And that is just what has been announced so far – there is still more to come for phases II and III. This isn’t Star Wars written towards one group or demographic – it is Star Wars for everyone.
DID I MENTION THE FANCY JEDI UNIFORMS?
Tumblr media
Because cosplayers and fanartists? This is the era for you. We are getting Jedi in silks with elaborate gold embroidery. Jedi with jewelry other decorative elements. Even the practical field uniforms have tooled and embossed leather. If you want to draw or make Jedi that have some of that that sweet LoTR-esque high fantasy aesthetic, the High Republic has your back. (Not going to lie – I am ALREADY imagining the time travel AUs. Put Obi-Wan in fancy clothes!)
OKAY, YOU’VE SOLD ME. WHERE SHOULD I START?
Tumblr media
I strongly recommend everyone looking to get into the High Republic (who is old enough to be on Tumblr) start with Light of the Jedi by Charles Soule. I alternated between the physical book and the audio book, and found it delightful in both formats. After that, you have a lot of options. You can read or listen to the audio book of the YA novel A Test of Courage by Justina Ireland. You can check out the currently running Star Wars: The High Republic comic from Marvel, or the Star Wars: The High Republic Adventures comic from IDW. Or you can skip straight to Into the Dark by Claudia Gray. Honestly, there is no wrong order to try out most of the High Republic.
IN CONLUSION
Tumblr media
The High Republic is Star Wars written for people who DON’T want Star Wars to be a good ‘ol boys club for salty white dudes who don’t want to see anything but more of Luke Skywalker. It offers broad representation, and optimistic narrative, and whole bunch of awesome Jedi content. If you are someone who fell in love with Jedi in the prequel era, the High Republic will give you more of what you loved. And if you are totally new to Star Wars? The High Republic is here for you too.
So, go check it. And then go write fic for it (please, there are only, like, 14 fics on AO3, I am dying).

Hey guys!!! Thanks to our lovely anon/blog historian, Soupy, we now have a recorded history!! Blog lore, my beloved. I'll try and start adding in our new things too, but to any newbies out there, come take a look :):):):)
About the lore for this blog, i cannot remember everything, but i can do something about the cursed asks lore and history, since i just scrolled all the posts in the tags!
31 Jan 2021: an anonymous send an ask asking what people actually mean when they tell a ship if "pedophilic". This start a big number of asks about real survivor and how fucked up is fandom water down the word, purity culture, and consequently story time about harassing people in fandom for purity culture.
1 Feb 2021: someone speak about how much fucked up fics helped them. This probably opened the possibility of cursed asks. The same day, someone other send an ask about a terrible person known for harassing people about the sexuality of a character. The person is called "train fucker".
2 Feb 2021: anonymous point the attention on the train fucking thing. The cursed ask tag is created.
In the following hours, always in the cursed ask tag, people discover the fandom was Death Note and the guy was apparently in real attracted to trains and planes. Hell break down, memes are created.
History is made.
One of the characters will later become protagonists of the tag already existed. PKD already was knew since the 22 Jan 2021, when they sent an ask about the color asks and you had the intuition the tags he was probably someone with a piss kink and the tag "chronicles of piss" was created.
Cursed ask history part 2:
At this moment on time, the tags is still not clearly used. One of the First post tagged as such, the 9th Feb, is an anon answering to the ear fucking conversation about micropenis, while all the other posts are not tagged. The day after PKD enter the cursed asks tag, while the others ask still stay out of it. People start sending the stories they read.
12 Feb Hagrid/Hedwig fics are discovered. Owl fucking anon appear. Someone suggest a friendship between them and mlp guy.
Also mlp pony guy is a lore being who did not appear before in the #cursed asks, but already had their history in the simpler ask tag and in the previous cancel scale period, that we could call the ancestor of #cursed ask.
The First post tagged as cancel scale is from the 2nd Jan 2021. It was an anon answering your post of the same day "alright guys scale 1-10 how screwed r u if it ao3 history and bookmarks get released".
This is the gold era of this blog lore. The philanthropist, wound fucking discourse, rpf bdsm and mlp guy (with the first ask behind paywall) appeared during the first month and a half of the year, mixing at the end with the cursed ask tag.

The philanthropist appeared the same day #the cancel scale started. With their iconic "i am a shameless philanthropist and so my bookmarks are public. I eat dead doves for breakfast. Come on down to the buffet y'all! You want some wound fucking? 8-yr-old omega abortion? I got you fam, watch me scramble these eggs" they left a forever sign in this blog. Still to this days asks are written to know if they are good. They obtained a 12/10 in the cancel scale.
Wound fucking discourse started, also the same day, by CB answering "is that where the wound fucking comes in??" At a ask about vivisection and medical experimentation. Discourse about what classify as a wound and how it works continued trought the day.
Rpf bdsm is thought to have beat the philanthropist with their mix of rape, underage, incest in a foursome, huge age, rpf tentacles and, mostly, someone getting turned into a pickle and his partner fucking himself with it.
This also started a string of asks about people being transformed in object used for sex.
Rpf bdsm would appear again later that day to specify the pickle fic was a rpf.
Cursed ask history part 4 (i think? Already lost the count)
Mlp guy. The one and only. Always in the terrible 2 Jan 2021, they first appeared in the tags of an answer to a marvel ask. #Hey HEY mlp guy #u know who u r #i'm afraid to look at this ask #like yeah we saw some shit tonight but this blows that outta the fuckin WATER #y'all would dead ass have to pay me to post it
Someone noticed the tags and asked about it, and a strong sexual tension between everyone and the unpublished mlp ask started. Someone ended up paying, cause the ask was later published as last post of the day and terrorized every follower of the blog. It was published as screenshot of the ask, and is not even put in the #cancel scale.
MLP guy stayed so in the apex of the cursed asks for some months, till the Pokémon ask by soupy was published the 9th may 2021, taking home a 15/10. MLP guy made a Tumblr profile, @therealmlpguy, in retiliation, and reblogged answering with a new terribly cursed fic. CB have still not voted it, so who have the worst cursed ask is still in question.
The day of #cancel scale the blog fanficmemes lost many followers, but the story was, as we know, not finished.
Cursed ask history part 5
I like to stay an half cryptid of this blog, so i will not tell my blog of origin, but i can tell you I am Soupy. Also i need to know if i am actually considered a cryptic of the blog and if i need to make a lore post about myself XD.
This is starting to get hard cause i cannot reread what i already sent, but the end of the tunnel is near.
We already told about owl fucking anon in the cursed ask tag, but their story is a bit more longer. The cursed ask was actually their big return, and they are probably one of the most proficious lore making, having also a part in the creation of the PKD legend. They should really have their own tag.
How? Well.
The 17 Jan 2021, when the big part of the cancel scale was done and the elders of the lore created, they sent an anon ask about what the cancel scale made them remember. It was a fic, red when they were ten or eleven, about someone fucking an owl while the owl was on their period. Consensual, and apparently the authors were two teen girl who write only character x owl. Their mom proofread. CB answered with their profile picture, edited so that it red "i can't believe it's gotten even worse!" Instead of "i can't believe it's not canon".
This post created, if we want to say, PKD, cause their first ask, that assigned them piss kink, was yes about the color asks (that, in case someone does not remember, was CB asking what colors people assigned to them), but had as explanation "if you keep posting stuff like the owl period whatever". So the owl fucking anon indirectly created, the 22 Jan 2021, PKD.
Owl fucking anon continued their ascension to lore of the blog.
The 12th Feb 2021 sent an ask were they were surprised someone had found Hagrid x Hedwing fics, and than sent anther 9 parts ask about the story of how they red lot of cursed shits thanks to an old tumblr blog that had the links, and how from there they found an author who only published Hagrid x Hedwing, and how that introduced them to FF smut.
(it is also discovered they are only 15, baby, please, i am noone to talk with the shits i red at the time but i hope you are ok).
They are now consacrated in the memory of the blog.
Cursed ask history part 6
Before continuing with the history of the cursed asks, is now time to finally give a small talk about PKD. We know how they originated, but how they become so famous?
Probably is the fact they appeared so many time during the last months. Being it for cancel scale, cursed asks or just normal asks, they continue to give us company with their exploration of piss kink fic. Is true they soundly negate having the kink the first months, but after lot of memes and people speaking about it, the 25 Apr 2021 they finally admitted of having the kink, and discovered it reading an a/b/o Captain America fic.
I would suggest to read all the posts, but they stopped being tagged halfway through, so is half in the specific #chronicles of piss and half in the #cursed ask
Cursed ask history part 7
The big lore is finished, and now only the later history stay.
#cancel scale posts and #cursed asks post lived side by side for some days. The owl fucking one of the 12 Feb was actually the last cursed fic published in the cancel scale post, leaving the tag only for some history reference later.
#cursed asks saw the appearence of every type of cursed possible to thought, with scat and nipple fucking between the different tags. At the start there was no specific day chosen, but later, for CB schedule reasons, Saturday was assigned as cursed ask day, and some week later it was moved to Sunday.
And here we are, today, to see what other cursed things we will bring in this world
Cursed fic History part 8
The cursed fic History have been covered, but i still think is important to talk about some of the before time tags that created the good ecosystem for the creation of #cursed ask.
The most famous is #the lube discussion.
It started the 23 Aug 2020, when CB wrote a post about FF using the word "supple" in smut without the thing being actually supple. In the tag, they added #also #that does Not work as lube.
Some anon asked what was being used as lube, that was answered with "one was peanut butter. I will not discuss the other". This started the bug lube discussion, were everyone talked about what they continingly see used as lube when it cannot be used as lube.
Between the classics soap and blood, we see some more daring one as mud, yogurt, aloe vera, years, milk, hot sauce and the more intersting, cannoli (have no idea if they are talking about the cream you put in cannoli or some american thing i don't know).
Nothing reached cursed material, but it put the first seed for the blog.

In “Why We Lost the Sex Wars,” Bracewell suggests that the women’s-liberation movement could have retained its radical edge had it paid more attention to its Black and Third World participants. Feminists of color on both “sides” of the sex wars—Alice Walker, Patricia Hill Collins, Cherríe Moraga, Mirtha Quintanales—cautioned against using the power of the carceral state to address the pathologies of sex and imagined a form of sexual freedom based on the eradication of racism and imperialism. Today, activists readily agree that feminism must be “intersectional”—that is, alert to the complex ways in which the workings of patriarchy are inflected by race, class, and other axes of oppression. And yet intersectionality is often seen as a primarily domestic concern. In a recent conversation with Barbara Smith, one of the authors of the 1974 Combahee River Collective Statement, a founding document of intersectional feminism, the Black feminist Loretta J. Ross observed, “In the seventies and eighties and nineties we were much more transnational in our organizing than I am seeing today.”
“Direct, personal internationalism,” Sheila Rowbotham writes, “was very much part of sisterhood.” Her memoir describes visits to, and from, the women’s movements in Germany, Italy, Spain, Greece, and France; time spent poring over a friend’s notes on a Vietnamese women’s delegation; and research into the role of women in nationalist movements in Cuba and Algeria. In the United States, “Sisterhood Is Powerful,” the hugely popular 1970 anthology of writings from the American Women’s Liberation Movement, edited by Robin Morgan, was followed, in 1984, by the publication of “Sisterhood Is Global,” a collection of essays on the women’s movement in nearly seventy countries, each written by a feminist theorist or activist working on the ground.
Such internationalism has largely withered away in Anglo-American feminism. This no doubt has something to do with the broader demise of the international workers’ movement, with a general Anglo-American tendency toward insularity, and, perhaps, with the Internet, which has simultaneously given us too much to read and corroded our capacity to read it. These days, it can seem that, because feminism is so pervasive, so much on the best-seller lists and the syllabi and Twitter, we already know all about it. But there is, unsurprisingly, still much to learn. Shiori Itō’s “Black Box,” which appeared in English this year, is an arresting first-person account of a Japanese journalist’s attempt to secure justice after she was raped by a prominent TV personality. First published in Japan in 2017, “Black Box” has been central to the #MeToo movement there, laying bare how the country’s culture and history shape a specific regime of male sexual entitlement. It could be read instructively alongside Chanel Miller’s “Know My Name,” her 2019 memoir of being sexually assaulted by the Stanford student Brock Turner.
