OH MY GOD OKAY SO I WORK WITH A KID WHO HAS ASD AND IS O B S E S S E D WITH TROLLS
All day every day all he wants to do is tell me about trolls and draw brozone and I got really into trolls by osmosis ESPECIALLY since I went to see trolls three just for him so anyway PLEASE tell me about trolls because I have never wanted to hug branch harder than I did in trolls three. He built the hideout
I feel like you maybe got cut off a bit, but that's okay, cause I think I know what you were gonna say, and yeah, breaks my heart too.
Gonna put this under a read more, cause it's gonna be a lot.
First things first, one of my absolute favorite things about this series is how the world looks. And I don't just mean in terms of it being a fantasy world, I mean how things literally look like felt and stuff. Someone described it as looking like an 'arts & craft' project and I agree. Heck, I am in love with the orbeez water from this last movie. What a fun touch.
On a similar note, love the character designs. Very wild and versatile, willing to do fun and funky things and break the mold. Especially with the trolls! While World Tour gave us different races of trolls, with different looks and anesthetics, Bqnd Together showed us that even trolls of the same race can look really versatile, and I love that. My favorite species design, though, has to be the vacationers. I love the holiday muppets.
Also, in terms of versatile designs. I have to mention how refreshing it is that I was able to predict that Bruce was gonna be fat as an adult, after all of the emphasis placed on his abs originally, but that his gaining weight is never brought up, not even as an insult. None of his brothers ever give him crud about it, and Poppy even still sees him as the heartthrob, even with his chunky dad bod. That's some positivity right there.
Poppy and Branch!! I can not say enough about how much I love their relationship!! They are genuinely really cute and also really healthy. I was so happy that they didn't pull the same crud so many other studios do and shoe horn in some random and unnecessary relationship drama in this film, especially after Branch's subplot in the last movie was about their relationship. They're solid in this film. The only time they have conflict is about Branch not being super open (and even then it's not a huge issue and Poppy is clearly understanding that he's not fully ready yet and is even willing to make a joke about it when he is) and Poppy's lack of understanding of the complexities of sibling relationships. Other than those two minor conflicts, they are solid. She can tell right away at the beginning that something is wrong and bothering him, he is able to manage and bring her back when she starts getting too excited and worked up, and over all they just work to better each other. Heck, even uber positive, everyone needs to be friends with everyone, Poppy stands by his side when he chooses to abandon John, Bruce, and Clay, not trying to convince him to go back and forgive and give them a second chance. She's gonna stand by him. We love a solid relationship. And I personally love that they didn't get married or even actually propose in this one, despite the teases. It's really good for kids to see representation of a healthy relationship where they don't jump into marriage and instead take their time.
Poppy's relationship with both Viva and Bridgette. The fact that even after discovering she has a literal sister in Viva, she stills considers and calls Bridgette a sister. We love girl friendship. Especially when Bridgette finds out Viva is Poppy's sister, deciding that automatically makes them besties too. We love it.
I love that, other than the very mild road block of trying to keep them at Putt Putt, Viva isn't a villain. She's deeply traumatized, but not evil. She and Poppy really do genuinely get along and love each other, and I love that so much.
And while I mention a good Sibling relationship, I must also mention the more complicated by expressing my appreciation that, despite them being shown being closwer, Branch doesn't automatically jump to help when he finds out Floyd is in trouble. While he admits to Poppy, after some pushing, that of all the brothers, Floyd would be the one he would help, this is still hesitant, and I think appropriate. Floyd still left him and never came back. The only one who ever mentions coming back is John Dory (having come back too late, after the trolls had escaped the tree). So it makes sense that, despite them being closer, Branch would still hold that resentment towards Floyd and be hesitant to help even him.
Also, I have to mention something: the way that John and Branch are weird parallels. They're the most similar, in being isolated survivalist. John is the oldest who's treatment drove everyone away. Branch is the youngest who thought his performance drove everyone away. It's so sad and poetic, I love it.
Last thing I will note for now is how much I love the trolls series for its female villains. Barb wasn't really a villain in the end and had a redeemable reason for doing what she did, but Chef and Velvet both were unapologetically selfish and awful for completely their own gain. I love that for them.

Lake day
can you do one when poppy was first born and going to the lake
this is so messy and all over the place omfg but also so am i😁 basically just little scenes from poppy’s first summer (she’s around 9 months!)
Poppy wasn’t even a year old when she went to the lake house for the first time. Trevor was staying for a full week while you came with Poppy for a couple days, just because you didn’t want your crying baby to ruin the group’s time there.
“We really don’t mind, you should stay” Jack has been trying to talk you into a longer stay for a while but you shook your head.
“Quinn’s friends are here and I’d just feel bad” Quinn brought a few of his friends back from school with him and as nice as they were, you knew they didn’t want a little baby hanging around all week. “And I want you guys to have a good time too, you’re all going your separate ways after this and it’s just…”
“Nope, none of that this summer” Trevor shook his head as he walked up with Poppy in his arms, “We’re not thinking about that”
A lot of things were changing this summer. The draft was next month and when the season started up again, the boys would be moving to play with their new teams, something that they all hated to think about.
“We’re having a good time this summer!” Alex smiled, “Right Pops?” He poked your daughter’s little belly which made her giggle.
“Right now let’s go or else Quinn’s gonna leave us here” Jack grabbed Poppy’s bag on his way out to the boat where the rest of the boys were waiting while you and Trevor made sure to get Poppy’s life jacket on securely before following him out.
“Can Poppy swim?” Jack asked.
“She’s like not even a year old” Cole answered, shaking his head a little, “She can’t even walk properly yet”
“Yeah but like… isn’t swimming easier?” Everyone laughed while Jack looked around in confusion.
“She’s living her best life” Quinn laughed, watching Poppy as she sat on Alex’s lap and watched Trevor try to surf.
“Oh yeah, she loves it too” You smiled. Despite Poppy still being so young, the boys had been helping out to make sure she was always happy and from the lack of total meltdowns, you could tell it was working.
“You know… when I heard you were pregnant, I was kinda scared for you. I know I don’t really have a place to say anything but I was in college and there was no way I could’ve done it…” Quinn trailed off, “But you guys are really good parents”
You smiled, it meant more to you than he probably thought, after knowing Jack for a few years and being around his brothers quite a bit, you understood why everyone looked up to Quinn.
“Thanks, it wasn’t something I was planning but I’m so happy with where we are” Quinn smiled and gave you a one armed hug.
“Don’t worry kid, you guys are already killing it”
“Hey, where’s Poppy?” You came downstairs to find Trevor, who was supposed to be watching your daughter, scrolling on his phone and Poppy was nowhere to be seen.
“Alex took her out, maybe in the back?” You were a little alarmed that Trevor didn’t know exactly where she was but you tried to talk yourself down as you made your way to the patio.
Looking outside, you found Alex, Cole, Matt, and Jack all crowded around the fire with Poppy in front of them. You slipped out of the house, trying to be quiet but your cover was blown when Poppy spotted you. She wiggled out of Cole’s hold and ran over to you, a mess of chocolate spread all over her face.
“Did you guys give her a s’more?” You ask with a sigh as you pick her up, trying to dodge her face as she squirmed in your arms.
“Maybe…” You shook your head. She was eating some solid foods now but you didn’t think s’mores were allowed… you weren’t even sure if that was included in baby books.
“I only gave her the marshmallow and chocolate if that makes it better..?” Jack asked and you thought about it, at least it was soft? This is probably why teenagers shouldn’t have babies.
“I guess but no more sweets for her” You grabbed a napkin that Matt held out for you and wiped her face off as best you could.

Cowboyrry rambling please 🤲🏼
OH OKAYYYYY
okay so let’s talk baby number 2 👹
Let me spit out some names
Hazel, willow, Stevie, Fern
Those are the ones I like and kind of fit the vibe for their baby names
I feel like she comes around Christmas!!! Definitely a Christmas baby- I’ve talked about this
I think maybe she came on the 24th or a couple days before Christmas? Let me know 😢
And Harry would be so excited when they find out the sex he would get right to work and make her such a cute crib, maybe one of those round ones
And I feel like her room would be really pretty and a lot like poppy’s room (check the racer Harry concept masterlist if you wanna see her room) like Forest vibes, maybe fairy or Forest themed
Lots of sage green, I think her crib would be sage green and the sheets would be printed with mushrooms and/or wild flowers
Stop if you think harry was a lot during y/n’s first pregnancy just wait once he knows what he’s in for
Second pregnancy hes even more up her ass
Waiting on her and getting her everything she needs
Now he’s taking over the role of cooking and helping out with the laundry
It’s this pregnancy is different because they’ve already got a little one so he’s trying to help out even more with Edward since she watches him a lot of time during the day when Harry is doing the heavy lifting on the farm so Harry watches him and lets Eddie help out since y/n was laying down because she doesn’t feel well
And y/n still does what she can around the farm but a lot of things Harry won’t let her do
And he’s always talking to the baby and reading books to the baby (we need a name for her)
And he’s constantly doing things for her that she is fully capable of, painting her nails, getting up to grab a water, getting up to get her clothes for her and sitting them out before she wakes up, literally anything he can for her
And he always wakes up before her, it’s just a habit since he’s been waking up at like 5 am every morning to go feed the chickens and check up on the farm, so maybe y/n didn’t get very good sleep the night before, Edward always wakes up about 7:30-ish
So Harry gets his start and walks to the back yard in just his boxers and cowboy boots (absolutely freezing but he tells himself he will make it quick each time) , quickly going to the chicken coop to feed the chickens before checking up on the cows, pigs, all that
And he’d walk back in, reading a chapter of his book then staring the coffee pot, pulling things out for breakfast
And before he knows it he hears Edward walking down the stairs, his tiny bare feet hitting the wooden steps and Harry is all excited, greeting Edward with a big hug “hi, honey. Did you sleep well?” And he lets Edward help out with breakfast so he pours int he flour while Harry makes homemade biscuits
And he knows since y/n got to sleep in a little she’ll be up at 8am
Just before she wakes up Harry and Edward walk up to their room and Harry lays out her go to, a dress long floral dress with a long sleeve under it, and a little cardigan with chunky socks since it was cold
And once she wakes up Edward is already up in bed with her getting in his morning cuddles
And Harry let’s Edward give her a kiss on the cheek before he pulls him out of the bed “we’re gonna go back downstairs and work on breakfast while mama gets herself ready for the day, Hm?”
She gets in her quick morning cuddles with Harry before she fully gets herself out of bed “thank you for letting me sleep in. I’ll be down soon enough.”
“Take your time, flower. Let me know if you need any help.”
And they all have breakfast together with Harry rubbing on her belly and trying to shove any food he can on her plate like a grandma (he definitely does the same with Edward and when he says he’s fully Harry is like “you don’t want any more mashed potatoes? 😔 what about a slice of pie? Another glass of milk before you go to bed?”
And once they are done y/n does the dishes with Edwards help while Harry shovels the snow and feeds the animals quickly, making sure they are warm enough and double checking the lamps for the baby chicks
And once harry is back in y/n and Eddie already have Christmas cookies and milk out on the table and they are making the last batch
“You guys didn’t invite me to make cookies 😔”
“You make a snowman with Eddie earlier, so hurry up while you can, go hop in a warm shower before the grinch is on or you’re gonna lose a good spot on the couch.”
And once harry is back down, in his towel searching for his clothes he had set out Edward and y/n are cuddled up on the couch together, both having a cookie with the grinch paused for Harry, and y/n is reading a book to Edward so he doesn’t get bored waiting for the movie
“Clothes are in the dryer.” She instantly knows what he’s looking for and he gives her a big kiss as a thank you and runs off to change as quick as he can before he jumps on the couch with them and cuddles up, sharing the cookies with them before he throws a blanket over them all and starts the movie
That’s kind of all I have in my brain
Beside the fact that Harry would freak out if he saw y/n’s pregnant belly peeking out of one of his flannels
Maybe she took a warm bath before bed and all she had to wrap up on after was one of Harry’s thick work flannels so she walks out in just that
And he turns over with his eyes still on the book they were sharing “got you those knitted socks set out, just ordered a few more pairs for you.” And once he’s done with the pages he looks over to see if she needs any help or anything
And her bump is peeking out of the flannel and he instantly drops the book “what are y’wearing?”
“My robe is in the wash, so is yours so this is all I have and my arms were too cold for just a towel- and my belly is too big for those towels :(“
“I’ll get some big fluffy ones, get on the bed because s’driving me crazy seeing you in that.”
And once she knees into the bed he’s pulling her close and pushing the blankets off “can’t wear stuff like this when you’ve got that bump ‘cause it makes me wanna fill you up with another baby”
Okay screaming crying
That’s all I have for you

Surprise! - Dad!Owen x Pregnant!Female Reader
Tumblr media
Request: NONE
Word Count: 2133 words
Summary: Part 2 of the Dad!Owen series, you reveal to your friends and family that you’re having a baby
Warnings: swearing
A/N: okay here we go, telling your friends and family that you’re pregnant!  as i said in a post the other day, i didnt realise that on survey monkey you could only see 40 results for free so the baby name survey had to end, but if you didnt get a chance to vote and would like to please let me know and i can set up an alternate way to vote :) without further ado, i hope you enjoy!
Charlie:
The first person who ended up finding out about your pregnancy was Charlie. You had meant to tell your families first, before anyone else, but things didn’t work out as planned.
It was three days after you had found out, and you and Owen were still buzzing. Charlie had been eyeing the two of you suspiciously the last few days, but didn’t call you out on your oddly happy behaviour until that night.
The boys had come home from set, only filming for a couple of hours to re-shoot a scene that needed changing slightly, and you decided to surprise them with pizza from all three of your favourite pizza place. Owen always texted you when they left set, so you knew exactly when to order the pizza to have it arrive just as the boys did.
And your timing was perfect, the pizza arriving almost in unison with your boyfriend and his best friend.
“Y/N, we’re home! You ordered pizza?” Owen called, and you left your bedroom to head to the kitchen, smiling at the boys.
“Figured you could use a treat after filming. Plus I didn’t feel like cooking, so...” You grinned, wrapping your arms around Owen, who lent down to kiss you gently, his hand resting on your stomach for a brief moment before he pulled away, not wanting Charlie to get any more suspicious.
You and Owen headed over to the table where Charlie had placed the pizza and sat down, waiting for Charlie, who had gone to grab drinks.
“Do you want your wine Y/N?” Charlie questioned, placing a beer on the table for himself and one for Owen. You shook your head.
“No thanks, I’m good.” You replied.
“But you love wine with your pizza.” Charlie frowned.
“Not tonight, thanks.” You said, hoping that he would give up.
“Are you feeling okay?” He asked. You nodded.
“Yeah I am.” You told him, picking up a slice of pizza and exchanging a look with Owen, silently begging him to step in.
“She’s got this... thing.” Owen chimed in lamely. Charlie frowned again, before a realisation hit him.
“Holy fuck, you’re pregnant.” He exclaimed. Your eyes widened. Owen choked on his beer.
“What? Why would you think that?” Your voice was slightly shaky.
“You always have wine with pizza, no matter what. And that would explain why you two have been so nauseatingly happy the last couple of days.” Charlie reasoned. You glanced at Owen.
“You can’t tell anyone.” You said after a moment. Charlie’s smile widened.
“So you are pregnant?” He asked, and you nodded. He cheered.
“I’m gonna be an uncle!” You giggled at his excited reaction, watching as he hugged Owen happily, and then rushed around the table to throw his arms around you.
He pulled away, placing a hand on your stomach hesitantly. You gave him a reassuring smile.
“I can’t believe there’s a baby in there.” He said softly, kneeling down next to your chair. Owen copied, kneeling down on the other side.
“Right?” Owen’s voice was just as quiet. “My little girl.”
“We don’t know if it’s a girl Owen.” You reminded him. He shook his head.
“I just know it. There’s no way she’s not a girl.” He replied, and you rolled your eyes slightly.
“Can we go back to eating the pizza now?” You said, and the boys agreed, standing up and sitting back in their chairs.
And with that, the first person knew.
Savannah:
The second person to find out was Savannah. You had been pretty sick, dealing with morning sickness, so Savannah decided what you needed was a little bit of retail therapy.
Which is how you found yourself trailing behind your best friend as she dragged you from store to store. And everything had been going perfectly fine, until you passed a smoked meat store, and the smell set off your nausea.
“Sav, I think I’m gonna be sick.” You warned, and she reacted quickly, rushing you into the nearby bathrooms and holding your hair back as you emptied the contents of your stomach into the toilet.
Once you were done you leant back against the wall of the stall, not even caring that you were sat on the floor of a public toilet. Savannah offered you her water bottle and you took it gratefully, swishing the water around your mouth before spitting it into the bowl and flushing the toilet.
“Are you okay? You’ve been pretty sick and I’m kinda getting worried about you.” Savannah questioned. You paused for a moment, before deciding how to respond. Hopefully Owen wouldn’t mind another person knowing your secret.
“I’m pregnant.” You admitted quietly, not wanting anyone in another stall to overhear. Savannah gasped, throwing her arms around your neck. You hugged her back gently.
“This is amazing Y/N.” She exclaimed. “I can’t believe I’m gonna be an aunty!”
“You can’t tell anyone yet, other than Owen only Charlie knows.” You told her as she let you go. She nodded quickly.
“Your secret’s safe with me.” She promised. You grinned, letting her pull you off the floor.
“Now, can we go look at baby clothes?” Savannah questioned once you were both on your feet. You smiled happily.
“Of course we can.” You agreed, linking your arm through hers as you headed out of the toilets, so excited that you had another person who you could talk about baby things with.
Owen’s Mum/Family:
Next was Owen’s mum, who had come to visit for a few days. You had thought of a brilliant way to tell her, after hearing how much she enjoyed building with nano blocks.
You had gone out before Owen had arrived home from the airport with his mum, and you had picked out the perfect present, wrapping it nicely.
Finally the time came to give her the parcel, as she sat across from you and Owen in the living room later that night.
Owen handed her the box, the card you had written on to clarify the situation grasped firmly in his hand as he waited anxiously, his foot tapping.
His mother ripped off the wrapping paper, finding a box of large lego blocks, the kind designed for babies and small children. She looked up, confused, and Owen held out the card.
“Read it out loud.” You prompted.
She took the card, opening the envelope and pulling it out, before opening it up.
“I can’t wait to build with you. Lots of love, your future granddaughter or grandson.” She read out. She gasped, looking between the two of you.
“Are you having a baby?” She questioned. You and Owen nodded. Her hand covered her mouth as she began to cry.
“I'm gonna be an Oma?” She asked, as Owen got up from his spot next to you to go hug his mother.
“You can be whatever you want to be called.” He replied. His mother smiled tearily, holding an arm out for you to join the hug. You grinned, sitting down on her other side and letting her pull you into the hug.
“Can I tell the rest of the family?” She asked, still in the hug.
“Maybe don’t tell everyone yet, cause we’re only 10 weeks, but you can tell Dad and Luka, and everyone else I guess. Just no extended family.” Owen replied.
“Okay I can do that. Congratulations, both of you.” She said, and you both thanked her in quiet voices.
She stood up, grabbing the box of lego and the card.
“I’m off to bed if I can manage to sleep. Tomorrow we’re going nursery furniture shopping.” She told you, and before either of you could protest she was gone.
“Well that went well.” You giggled and Owen nodded in agreement.
“Three down, only a few more to go.” He said. You made a noise in agreement, snuggling into his side to watch a movie, and you fell asleep with his hands resting gently on your stomach.
Your Family:
Next to learn about the baby was your family. To tell them you had sent them a parcel, with the instructions to call you on facetime before opening it.
You, Owen and Charlie were curled up on the couch, Owen’s head resting just below your stomach and Charlie’s head in your lap, when your phone rang, signifying you had an incoming facetime.
Owen sat up and picked up your phone, handing it to you before curling into your side, and you smiled when you saw it was your mum calling.
“I assume they got the box then.” You spoke before answering, your mum, dad and big brother appearing on the screen.
“Hi guys!” You greeted. “Got the parcel?”
“We did, can we open it now?” Your mum questioned. Charlie glanced at you.
“Want me to leave?” He asked quietly, and both you and Owen shook your heads.
“You can stay.” Owen said softly. You turned your attention back to your family.
“Okay, open it.” You instructed, and your dad ripped the box open, pulling out four smaller boxes, one for each of them and a fourth, which was one of the positive pregnancy tests.
“One at a time?” Your mum suggested and you shook your head.
“Same time, or it will ruin the surprise.”
You watched as they ripped into the boxes, each pulling out a t-shirt.
“Promoted to Nanna?” Your mum read out, a confused look on her face.
“Mine says promoted to Poppy.” Your dad said. You grinned, waiting for the penny to drop.
“Oh shit, you’re not.” Your brother realised, and you laughed.
“Open the last box.”
“How have they not gotten it?” Charlie questioned under his breath, and Owen giggled at the comment.
Your mum pulled the pregnancy test out and gasped, finally realising.
“You’re having a baby!” She exclaimed.
“Surprise!” You laughed.
“When?” Your dad asked.
“Not for a while now, I’m only 11 weeks.”
“Congratulations!” Your mum smiled happily.
You returned her smile and after a few more minutes explaining, you said your goodbyes and hung up.
“Now it’s only the cast.” You said, and Owen nodded, repositioning himself so that his head rested next to Charlie’s in your lap. Charlie unpaused the movie you had been watching and you rested your head on the couch.
This whole thing was getting very real.
The Cast - Jeremy, Madi, Carolynn, Jadah and Kenny
Finally the time came to tell the cast.
“So, what do you guys think about having a baby around on set?” You questioned casually. Carolynn gasped and Jeremy shot her a concerned look.
“Babies are pretty loud.” Madi replied.
“Yeah, they probably wouldn’t be good to have when you have to be quiet on set.” Jadah agreed. You bit your lip to stop yourself from laughing. You met Carolynn’s eyes and she gave you an excited look. You nodded slightly and she squealed, ignoring the weird looks she was getting from Jeremy.
“Why are we talking about babies?” Kenny questioned, sitting back down.
“Y/N asked about babies being on set.” Jadah told him.
“As in working babies or?” Kenny asked and you shook your head.
“Just babies in general.” Owen chimed in.
“Wait...” Madi spoke up, realisation slowly appearing on her face. “Are you pregnant?”
You grinned sheepishly, taking a sip of your drink. The table erupted in noise, everyone excitedly talking over each other, asking all sorts of questions.
“Oh my god shut up.” Charlie yelled over the noise, and the table went quiet. “One at a time.”
“How far along are you?” Carolynn asked.
“12 weeks yesterday.” You replied.
“How long have you known?” Jadah was next to ask her question.
“About 6 weeks.” Owen answered for you. “We wanted to wait a bit.”
“I knew the whole time.” Charlie boasted.
“Only because you live with us and there’s no way we would have been able to hide it from you.” You told him.
“When do you find out if it’s a boy or a girl?” Madi asked.
“She’s a girl.” Owen said. You groaned.
“Stop saying that. We don’t know yet and we won’t know for a little while, but Mr Psychic here seems to be convinced that it’s a girl.” You sighed slightly.
“I just know it.” Owen said with a huff.
“Any more questions?” You asked quickly, before he could get sulky.
“I have one, do you know what a condom is?” Jeremy joked. Madi and Jadah gasped, both hitting his arm.
“We are children.” Jadah reminded him. You laughed.
“Yes.” You answered simply. Jeremy laughed.
“Fair enough then.”
You sat back and listened as the conversation moved into baby names, with everyone throwing out suggestions.
You smiled softly, placing a hand on your stomach. Somehow this had become your life, and you wouldn’t change it for the world.

Animal Control  (Mc x Poppy)
Summary: Bea decides to buy Poppy a gerbil but it doesn’t go well...A whole bunch of chaos ensues and maybe some hands thrown? Includes Chloe and Veronica.
Notes: Yeah this is the most chaotic thing my mind has come up with. I hope you enjoy and laugh. It’s FLUFF, and a little angst.
Word Count: 2.4k
Tags: @samanthadalton @clowneryme @somewillwin @baexpoppy @zigxryanz @uselesslesbianfr @aleiramacaii (sorry if I missed you or if you want to be added to Poppy tags lemme know)
*NO GERBILS WERE HARMED IN THE MAKING*
WHAT. IS. THAT?!  BEA HUGHES GET IT OUT OF HERE RIGHT NOW!!”
It would be an understatement if I said that the whole world could hear Poppy right now.
Bea, wanting to be a good girlfriend, went out and bought a special gift for the blonde. But it definitely got a reaction she wasn’t hoping for.
Bea watched as Poppy jumped onto the bathroom sink as a little critter ran across the floor. It wasn’t really a critter though, just a cute little fat animal thing that Bea thought Poppy would gush over. “CHLOE CALL ANIMAL CONTROL”
....she wasn’t hoping for that response either.
“Pops! Okay okay I’ll get him it’s okay. He won’t hurt you. Well-“
“Well?!”
“Well he might give you a little nibble BUT that’s COMPLETELY normal and-“
“BEA!”
“POPPY!”
Their voices started to boom through the Zeta House as Veronica and Chloe rushed up the stairs and straight into the commotion. The scene before them was utterly shocking in a sense. The blonde stood on the counter, her foot nearly in the sink as she hugged the wall and squeezed her eyes shut...and seemed to be praying to herself? Bea, on the other hand, stood on all 4s as she looked under the cabinet. The Zeta girls glance at each other and then back at the couple as they try to process what was happening. “....So is either one of you going to explain or are we going to-“
Bea jumped at the new voice in the room, hitting her head on the edge of the cabinet. “Ow!” Veronica bit the inside of her cheek to stop herself from laughing as Chloe turned away to hide the grin on her face. Poppy opened her eyes, too distracted to notice Bea wince and rub her head. She peers around the bathroom, breathing a sigh of relief when she doesn’t spot the little gremlin crawling about. The blonde notices her friends standing by the door and her face flushes impossibly red as they watch her from down below. Real nice Poppy, they definitely envy you right now. Is that a new yoga pose you’re doing right now? I don’t think your foot belongs there.
She clears her throat and steps down from the counter. “Chloe didn’t you hear me? I said to call animal control there is a rabid pest in the house.” Poppy shoots Bea an annoyed look, and all the brunette could do was stand there and shrug her shoulder sheepishly. Poppy didn’t expect Chloe to full on panic but now there was another blonde running around the room hysterically. Chloe shrieks and whispers to herself, “oh my god a pest?! What if it lays eggs, or what if people hear about this?” She turns towards Poppy and gasps, “do we have to call the terminator?!” Bea blinks in confusion until it hits her, “termin-? wha...OH!” She spins until she faces her girlfriend, “NO! Don’t you dare call the exterminator! It’s a gerbil for crying out loud, it doesn’t deserve that-” Chloe begins to laugh and points an accusing finger at Bea, “it wouldn’t be here in the first place if you stopped coming in here smelling like a farm.”
The brunette does a double take at the dumb blonde, “EXCUSE ME?!” She takes a deep breath and pinches the top of her nose to calm down, “...Chloe do you even know what a gerbil is?”
“Oh I’ll tell you what it is! GONE! It’s leaving now Bea.” Poppy stomps in between the two girls with a deadly expression. Poppy was definitely not going to hold either one of them back if they started fighting. The hell does she look like doing that? But they were definitely not going to damage anything in her room so enough was enough. Bea glances at Poppy and can feel her starting to get more pissed off. She should stop, she should definitely stop. Maybe because she doesn’t actually know where said gerbil is…and Poppy would erase her entire existence off of this planet if Bea ever told her that.
Chloe looks over at Bea and can tell that she’s starting to back down. “Oooh aren’t you a nice pet, obeying your girlfriend. Where did all of your self respect go?” A cat-like grin slowly appears on the blonde’s face as Bea’s jaw slackens in shock.
“You’re one to talk bitch! How about I get rid of you while I’m at it.”
“Oh bring it pig girl!-”
Both girls close in on each other as Poppy is sent sprawling back on her ass. She sits there in complete shock and blinks a couple times to refocus.
Veronica, still standing by the door, takes no effort in trying to stop the cat fight happening in front of her. In fact she sneaks away to grab her phone and starts filming the whole thing. Perfect for some blackmail later. And well she could probably get paid a lot to sell this video. Thank you Poppy for your glorious last name.
Okay now you’re probably wondering where the gerbil comes in to play? We’re getting there, just wait…
Bea and Chloe tumble into Poppy’s walk in closet as one tries to gain the upper hand. To Bea’s shocking surprise, the blonde knows how to throw hands. But the brunette more so wanted to pin her down instead of actually hitting her, she knows that won’t end well for either of them.
Poppy stares at Veronica filming them in all sorts of angles. How did she even get up on that shelf?  She rolls her eyes with irritation, already feeling a headache forming. The screaming match on the other side of the room was not helping either. All the blonde wanted was to have a peaceful spa day and try her new Glossier vitamin skincare mask, and maybe have a nice lunch with Bea. This was definitely going to leave some wrinkles. Poppy sighed heavily and tried to stand up, but a flash of little legs ran across the floor a few feet from where she sat, and she felt her heart stop. Poppy shut her eyes, hoping and praying that it isn’t what she thinks it is, and to her awful surprise it was most definitely the gerbil. One second of silence passes before Poppy lets out the most horrific, high pitched scream known to man. It was serious enough that Veronica stepped down from the shelf and Bea loosened her grip on Chloe’s hair. The adrenaline hit Poppy so hard as she sprinted out of the bathroom, shutting the door behind her, and lunging into the closet where the other girls stood like deers in headlights. Bea quickly approaches her girlfriend, partly terrified and partly concerned.
“I just saw it! The- the fiend. It’s in the bathroom still. Just get rid of it Bea please..”
Poppy cowers in the corner trying to cover herself with faux fur coats and whatever she could find that makes her feel less exposed. The girls just stood and watched her, all sharing confused glances. Poppy loved animals, but she never signed up for rodents as well. This meant a serious talk with Bea after everything settled down.
The brunette sighs with a little bit of relief at Poppy’s words, “Oh atleast you found it, I thought I lost him for good..”
The blonde turns so fast it almost makes Bea dizzy. Her face goes pale as Poppy doesn’t break eye contact with her, “ You...what?! You lost it?!”
“Poppy that’s really not what we should focus on right now-”
“If you couldn’t tell...I am losing my mind right now Bea.” She gestures wildly to the mismatched outfit on her body and her tangled locks.  “If we don’t capture this animal and RETURN. IT.” She takes one menacing step towards everyone, “none of you will leave alive, got it?”
Okay Poppy is scary, i’ll admit it.
Bea exhales nervously and looks at Chloe, and Chloe looks at Veronica who is holding a camera in her face, completely unfazed. Chloe scoffs with disbelief, swatting the phone out of her face, “Really V?! This is not the time for that.”
The vlogger just kept filming with a shameless smirk painted on her face, “Or what? You’ll fight me too?”
Before anything could progress again, Bea intervenes even while trying to catch her breath. “Okayyy, lets not do this. Can we just work together and catch the gerbil so Poppy can act normal again?” The brunette laughs internally because she knows that her girlfriend is probably staring directly into her soul, but she doesn’t look. She could not imagine herself fighting Poppy, even though they technically did in the water fountain once, but that was more like a fever dream and she found it kinky, anyways… Bea took the lead and headed straight for the door to the bathroom, preparing herself for the quick little monster.
“Do we not have a secure plan for this? Just gonna open the door and hope for the best?” Chloe huffs out. And if Bea was being honest, that was the most sensible thing she had said all day. That girl was full of surprises. “I’m not scared of him like ya’ll. He is just very quick and I don’t want to lose him again.”
“Listen, I don’t care what you guys are or aren’t. I am still standing by what I said earlier...and I guess I will help as well.” It was already embarrassing how Poppy had acted before, but the blonde wanted to save the last of her dignity and so she stood in the far back, offering to be the last minute captor if anything went wrong. Bea was grateful that she didn’t appear to be very mad at her, but she wasn’t a fool. Still, it was better to be in trouble than dead, in some ways. The brunette braced herself and counted to three before swinging the door open and lunging to the floor immediately. Too bad the gerbil was too quick for Bea and it ran between her legs. She grunted with frustration before tripping backwards and knocking right into Chloe, who fell back onto Veronica like a freaking domino effect. The room erupted into screams as Poppy unwillingly ran forward and grabbed the rodent by its tail and lifted it into the air, hundreds of feets away from her body of course. “I got it! I got it!...Now what do I do, Bea?!!”
“Okay! okay calm down...and slowly bring it towards me. That’s it you got it..” Bea cautiously steps towards Poppy and holds her hands out to catch it if things went awry. Poppy stood frozen with fear and shock, still not registering that there was a gerbil scrambling wildly and hanging from her fingers but she pushed the dread away and successfully placed it into Bea’s hands. Mission freaking accomplished. The room visibly sighed with relief after Bea placed the animal back into his cage but Poppy could only stare at her fingers in horror. She’d need to exfoliate it maybe twice, get a new manicure, a skin peel maybe, or just some new skin honestly.
 ***
After the chaos had settled down and Poppy finally scrubbed herself clean, she walked back into her room and saw Bea lazily playing with the gerbil in his cage. If she wasn’t so creeped out by the rodent, the blonde would almost think this view was very sweet. Bea noticed her immediately and sat up with a guilty expression. “Pops...If I had known that you’d react like that I would have never even thought about buying him. It was a stupid decision really and I should’ve made sure you were okay with it first.” There goes Bea again with her puppy eyes and charming choice of words. Poppy sighs internally, already feeling like an asshole. She sits next to Bea and rubs her knuckles soothingly, “Well yeah it was pretty stupid…” The brunette raises an eyebrow amusingly. “But...you couldn’t have known, and I thought it was really sweet that you’d want to surprise me like that. Usually I’m the one buying gifts for others.” Bea sits up straighter feeling a little overwhelmed but wraps her arms around Poppy’s waist, leaning her head on her shoulder. They sat in comfortable silence until the brunette spoke up again, her voice nearly a whisper, “...does this mean we get to keep him?”
The blonde scoffs loudly but glances over at the cage, her eyes softening just a little bit. She looks down at her girlfriend who seems to have been watching her this whole time. Poppy feels her face start to heat up but for all the right reasons. “I don’t know if I’ll ever get used to having one of...those. But if you really want me to try then I will.” It was definitely worth it to see Bea’s face beam with joy, she kisses Poppy on the cheek with excitement, “Babe you won’t regret it! And.. if it doesn’t work out then we can always give him a better home okay?” The blonde watches her girlfriend’s eyes sparkle brightly and she can’t help but mirror her smile,“Okay”.
Bea reaches for the cage and sets it on her lap. She doesn’t take the gerbil out just yet, wanting Poppy to get comfortable with it in her presence. She watches different stages of emotions make its way across the blonde’s face before she relaxes. Poppy looks at her and speaks gently, “have you decided on a name yet?”
“Well I was hoping we could come up with one together, but after what happened today maybe he can be called….terminator?”
Poppy rolls her eyes so far back but lets out a soft laugh, her hair falling softly onto her cheek. When she doesn’t feel Bea brush the strands away she does it herself and watches as Bea observes the little creature. “Okay I change my mind, you’re giving him more attention than me.” The brunette looks up with a sheepish smile but can only stare at Poppy’s loving but teaseful gaze. Of course she has to be a smartass though, “actually did you know that gerbils require your attention on a daily basis, and can develop strong relationships with their owners? Almost sounds like you.” Bea feels the punch in her side before she can see it and pretends to howl in pain. It doesn’t seem to faze poppy though as she smirks at her victim, “keep that up and you will be sleeping in the cage with him.”
“Oh so you want to lock me up huh?” Bea bites her lip mischievously as she leans into kiss Poppy. Before things can heat up they hear a groan coming from the door. “Ughhh! Of course it had to turn sexual.” Veronica stood with her phone in her hand filming, and a hand over her eyes.

Warnings- Jealousy
Chapter 2 All In a Long Weekend
Tumblr media
Saturday
That Saturday morning, breakfast had been done a tad earlier than usual, and afterwards, Emma had stayed back in the kitchen, packing a picnic while Keanu oversaw the children as they got ready for the day's beach trip. Matt and Poppy had been raving about their trip to Malibu for the past two weeks, asking every night before bed if they'd still be going. Each time, Emma had assured them that unless it rained, they were certainly going.
"You look excited," an older woman came up beside Emma, setting down some sodas into the cooler, just as Emma continued preparing sandwiches for the container that was set to be packed into the woven basket. She and Zelda, despite the fifteen or so years between them had become fast friends, always eager to help each other out when possible. The older woman was also sometimes keen of giving Emma little snippets of advice that she thought my be helpful; never go into Keanu's office when he had the door shut, don't give the kids ice pops inside and possibly the one that had saved her the most trouble, always check the allergy list that Keanu had stuck to the fridge before making the kids something new.
Beaming absently at her comment, Emma carried on with her task, making cheese and turkey sandwiches; a favorite among Keanu and his kids, "I am, it's been a while since I've been to the beach, and even if I'm still working, it's gonna be fun." Closing up the Tupperware, Emma set it in the basket, moving on to prepping snacks, just as Zelda started on some frozen treats for the sizable cooler. In retrospect, it might have seemed like a lot, but when you were having a day trip with kids, it was best to prepare for anything. "Plus, it'll be nice to spend some time together, just the four of us."
Furrowing her eyebrows in confusion, Zelda paused for a minute, "Five dear," she corrected, a little shocked when Emma didn't understand what she meant.
Certainly, Keanu must have told her!
But really, he hadn't.
Just as Zelda was about to explain though, the sound of the front door opening and shutting, followed by a very loud, and an annoyingly exuberant; "Darling!" After that, it wasn't long before the sound of heels clicking against the floor drew nearer, and out of the long hallway emerged a woman, tall, blonde and just as famous as Keanu.
"Sweet-" Upon seeing the pair, the Miranda Riley, former Victoria Secret model and world famous actress, stopped in her tracks, scrunching her perfectly straight nose as if she'd smelt something terrible, "Oh," her made up face fell, "Its you; Zora and…….the new one."
A little annoyed by her obviously snooty behavior, Emma opened her mouth to speak up, "Actually it's-" Though, when Zelda grabbed her arm, squeezing warningly, she shut up immediately, sealing her lips tightly.
Though, it didn't really seem like any of it greatly affected Miranda, especially when Keanu jogged into the room from the other hall, still bare foot while his worn out t-shirt was soaked at the front, probably from herding the twins into a bath. "Mandy," he grinned, and Emma swore it was stiff and forced. Maybe it was just her imagination though, cause with barely any hesitation, Keanu was taking the woman in his arms, holding her in a more than friendly hug before planting a lengthy kiss on her deep, ruby lips, one of his hands reaching up to cup her face.
The world seemed to slow down as the entire scene unfolded before her; the way he held her, looked at her when they pulled away to speak. A soft, pained gasp seeped past her lips and Emma wasn’t sure what she’d been expecting when Miranda walked into the house, but she did know that the last thing she’d predicted was that it would hurt so much. Her lungs were set ablaze and a similar sensation prickled at her eyes. Rage, betrayal, jealousy, Emma couldn’t tell which it was, but she did know that she wanted to run out of the room and not have to face Keanu for the rest of the day. Hell, maybe even the rest of the month.
Slowly, as if she were just coming up from being submerged in an ice cold bath, Emma brought herself back to the moment, raising her gaze when Keanu sought to introduce them, “Mandy, you remember I told you about Emma, our new nanny.” That was what she was, the nanny; the woman who took care of his kids, nothing more. Even if quieter moments had suggested otherwise. The tension, the long stares and innocent touches that thrilled her nerves, they meant nothing to Keanu. “And Em, this is my girlfriend, Mandy.” Well that didn’t feel like a bullet to the chest at all.
“It’s nice to meet you,” the smile that she plastered on her face was probably the hardest one she’d ever managed, and when Emma offered her hand, it wasn’t difficult to miss the flash of disgust that crossed Miranda’s pale features. Never meet your heroes, they said. For as long as Emma had known herself, Miranda had been an icon in the fashion world, she was well connected, and had set most of the trends that Emma had her friends had desperately wanted to mimic in their teens. It was her, among other inspiring names in the fashion world that had prompted Emma to go to a design institute and not a conventional college. But right then, she might have been happier going back to a time where she’d never crossed paths with Miranda.
Hesitating before offering Emma a toothy, winning grin, Miranda took her hand, shaking quickly over the counter before letting it go again, “Mmm, yes, it's…….nice to meet you too, Emily.”
“Emma,” she corrected, having to bite her tongue so she wouldn’t say anything more. The last thing she’d want was to lose her job after telling off her boss’s out of touch bitch of a girlfriend.
“Right,” Miranda appraised her look, a bright blue sundress, raising an impressed brow, probably only complimenting her to appease Keanu, “Cute dress.”
Before Emma could speak up, Keanu interjected, “She looks lovely doesn’t she? Made it herself,” he didn’t seem remotely aware of the heaviness in the room, or the way Miranda clenched her jaw when another slew of praises for Emma left his lips, “She’s so talented, Poppy is already roping her into making princess dresses for Halloween,” he chuckled, shaking in his head.
After another minute spent gritting her teeth, Miranda sought to change the topic, clearly having had her fill of Keanu’s pride in his nanny, “Where are the little ones anyway? It's nearly ten, we’re going to be late.”
With that, Emma’s head snapped towards Zelda, who'd opted to finish the cooler and snacks in silence, so she wouldn’t have to endure any of the painstaking conversation, “She’s going?” She whispered when Keanu and Miranda weren’t looking, eyes wide and frenzied.
“Yeah,” she nodded, barely looking as Emma when she followed her to the fridge, while Keanu and Miranda spoke, or rather, canoodled in hushed tones, "I feel like I should have told you he has a girlfriend," Zelda paused, just after reaching for a half filled carton of strawberries.
"Ya think?" Emma hissed, glancing backwards at the couple, feeling her heart pinch at how lovey dovey they were. She could have sworn there was something between herself and Keanu. "How hard was it to say 'Hey Em, you know our boss has this girlfriend, and she's like, a total bitch.' What the hell does he even see in her anyway?"
"She's tall and gorgeous?" Zelda shrugged casually, "Look, I don't get it either, but he loves her, they've been together for almost two years and I think she's convinced him to go public by the end of this year." Her face fell at Emma's troubled expression, reaching out to rub her shoulder sympathetically, "I see the way you look at him, and if there's something between you two, then……and I don't mean this harshly at all, maybe you need to back down. Miranda, she's……she's not someone you want to mess with," sighing deeply, Zelda peered over to see if they were being overheard, "She gets what she wants, and right now, she wants Keanu and you don't want to be in her way."
Gritting her teeth, Emma pulled away harshly, "I don't know what the hell you're talking about," she squared her shoulders, "There's nothing between Keanu and I," maybe she was getting more defensive than she needed to be, but Emma didn't care. "I'm gonna go finish getting the twins ready," she announced loudly, stalking out of the room and down the hall, and hopefully, leaving behind whatever she'd started to feel for her boss.
As it turned out, Matt and Poppy had all but put their clothes on over their swimsuits, and they were so excited about going, that they got into their little summery outfits without fuss. Afterwards, tiny feet clad in colorful sandals, they raced each other downstairs, leaving Emma to collect their bags before she headed down.
She was walking towards the stairs, backpacks in hands, really just minding her own business, having just started to calm down after the whole Keanu/Miranda fiasco, when, just as she neared the door of Keanu's home office, she heard it. He was deep in conversation, and had unknowingly left the door just a sliver open, enough for her to catch on to some juicy bits. "I know mom," he sounded exasperated, and when she dared to peek in, Emma found that his back was to her, as he stood facing the window, one hand stuffed into the pocket of his jeans, "But I'm not getting any younger, what do you want me to do? Wait till I'm sixty?" He sighed heavily, shaking his head, "Matt and Poppy need a mother, and Miranda……" he trailed off, listening intently to what his mother had to say. Leaning closer, Emma wished she could be privy to the other end of the call, aching to hear what his mother thought about the succubus that he called a girlfriend. But alas, she'd have to settle for whatever she got.
After a few minutes had passed, Keanu spoke again, turning around, leaving Emma to dash for cover, though still within earshot. For a minute, she held her breath, awaiting the moment where Keanu would poke his head out the door and catch her eavesdropping. But it never came, and instead, he continued, "I think I'm going to do it tomorrow night, we're going to dinner, and the nanny will watch the kids. I have the ring already. I think she might like it."
Ring?
The sirens in Emma's head were going off so loudly that she barely registered his tone, the absence of excitement or joy, things that were usually there when someone was smitten enough to propose. There was too much going on in her head; the irrational fear of never having a chance with Keanu, the more rational fear that Miranda might become her boss too. Tuning out the rest of the conversation, not caring to hear anymore, Emma dragged herself towards the stairs, slinking down towards the kitchen, where she found Zelda entertaining the children.
“Everything okay?” She probed when Emma placed the bags on the counter, next to the cooler and picnic basket, her features still crestfallen.
“Yeah,” she mustered up a smile, inching closer to her friend, her voice dropping an octave, “I think Keanu’s going to propose to Miranda, like tomorrow night.”
“What?” Zelda’s eyes went wide, her jaw hanging slack, and she almost dropped the dishes she had just started putting into the cupboards, “How do you know that, did he tell you?”
“Tell her what?” Speak of the devil. Miranda startled them both, and for a second, Emma was worried that she’d overheard their conversation, though that too was short lived.
“Everyone ready?” Keanu strode into the room, and though Emma wanted to meet his gaze, she restrained herself, not even trying to respond, just going over to gather some of their things, her teary smile faltering when the kids excitedly started following her to the car.
Tumblr media
At some point, Miranda had eased Keanu away from where they’d set up their picnic on the beach, urging him into a walk even though the kids had pleaded with him to stay and help them build sandcastles. Emma had taken his place, helping them with their little construction project, highly aware of how upset Poppy still was. “You okay Pop?”
The girl frowned, using her fragile fingers to sweep some hair out of her face, “I wish daddy would have stayed and built it with us,” she mumbled, dumping another bucket of sand to create segment of the castle, though doing it so harshly that the new section just crumbled, “He always leaves when aunt Mandy comes around.”
“I’m sure that’s not true,” even if she didn’t like Miranda, if she was going to be Matt and Poppy’s step mother, Emma couldn’t go around bad mouthing her to them, “I’m sure he still spends time with you. And aunt Miranda seems really like you two.”
“Not as much as you,” that was Matt, his expression skewed by his dark mane falling over his face, “She’s always telling us to be quiet. And she’s so boring,” he stressed, lurching forward, only half interested in ranting about Miranda, still very invested in their sandcastle, “She almost made dad stop my swimming lessons.”
“What?” That time, it was a struggle to keep her annoyance at bay. Even if it was just one side, even if Matt couldn’t possibly know the entire truth, it was still enough to rile Emma up. How dare she? Matt was the best on his team! Taking a breath, Emma knew it was time to shift the conversation, and cheer the twins up before she said something that she’d regret, “You know what? Why don’t we give this a break? We can go to the water, have a splash war!”
“Yeah!” They jumped up immediately, barely giving Emma a minute to shimmy out of her sundress, revealing her simple, floral bikini before joining them in the water. It didn’t take long to lift their spirits, and before long, Matt and Poppy were teaming up to out splash Emma. Their gleeful giggles were music to her ears and she adored seeing their wide grins. They’d waited almost a month for that trip, they deserved to enjoy as much as they could, even if Miranda was going to take up most of Keanu’s time.
They probably spent hours past noon in the water, and not once did anyone’s smile falter. Emma gave them ice pops, and insisted that they have some water once or twice, though each time, they accepted without fuss, and she couldn’t tell if was the sugar from their snacks, or just how immersed they were in the games, but even when Keanu and Miranda returned near sunset, they didn’t show signs of tire.
“You guys having all the fun without me?” Keanu let go of Miranda’s hand, standing where the water would wash over his feet, pulling the sand back as it receded.
A pang of anger flared inside of her, making Emma want to remind Keanu that he was the one that left, but she suppressed it. A fight wouldn’t solve anything. She was so caught up in being annoyed with Keanu, that she hadn't noticed how dark his gaze had grown when his eyes fell on her, kneeling in the water, rivulets rolling off her tan skin, the top of her bathing suit pressing her breasts together, a generous amount of her cleavage spilling out voluptuously. “Well why don’t you join in?” She made herself laugh, and while Emma was hardly as much of an actor as the two A listers before her, she’d liked to think she managed pretty well.
“Sounds great,” he didn’t even seem to notice Emma’s irritation, bubbling beneath the surface. In a flash, he was pulling off his t-shirt, tossing it to the sand, getting into water wearing just his swim trunks, and as he drew closer, his cheerful tone faltered, probably realizing that being in the water with her wasn’t going to do him any favors, “Do you guys wanna play chicken fight?” Keanu turned to his kids, only to be met with excited nods, “And maybe Mandy wants to play too?” He turned to her, eyes somewhat hopeful, “And we can let Em have a break,” swallowing thickly.
“Oh, I…..” Miranda seemed perfectly out of her element, smoothing a hand over her stylish, white sundress, and then pushing up the dark tinted sunglasses, which formerly guarded crystal green orbs. It took a minute, but eventually, she conjured up a tight grin, “Chicken fight isn’t really my kind of game,” she laughed nonchalantly, “Besides, the water will ruin my hair. You should let Emily play, childish nonsense seems right up her alley.”
Subduing the urge to roll her eyes and fire a few obscenities towards Miranda, Emma took a breath, gazing between Keanu, who’d gone cold, and Miranda who’s wicked mirth was reflected in her defiant smile, “Like I said this morning, it’s just Emma. And that’s fine, I actually love childish nonsense, its way more fun than sitting on the sand like a……” stuck up bitch, “Boring grown up.”
Amused with her half hearted insult, Matt laughed loudly, while Poppy just giggled, already trying to get up on Emma’s shoulders. Fuming, Miranda turned on her heel, stomping off towards the mat, and it wasn’t long before the rest of them had forgotten the almost-spat, getting on with their game.

Monday
As usual, Emma was up early, preparing breakfast for everyone. It was just past seven am, and since Mondays didn’t promise cartoon reruns, the kids weren’t up yet. Instead, Zelda had come in earlier than usual, saying that she wanted to get a head start on the housework, but really just looking to gossip. They were in the kitchen together, preparing for hash browns, eggs and bacon, working over quiet chatter, “So…” Zelda nudged Emma’s shoulder with her own.
“So?” Emma chuckled, nudging her back, the comfy cotton of her robe brushing against the sleeve of Zelda’s shirt. She knew exactly what her friend was seeking, but truthfully, she didn’t know how Keanu’s proposal had gone. All she knew was that they’d left for dinner around seven, leaving her to make something for Matt and Poppy, and hadn’t returned until the twins had fallen asleep and Emma had stolen away to her room.
“So, is the wicked witch of the west coast going to be out new boss or not?” Zelda teased, continuing with helping Emma shred some potatoes.
“Honestly-” Emma cut herself off when Keanu walked in, sans shirt and with low riding sweat pants. His hair was a mess, and his good morning was punctuated by a tired yawn. "Good morning Keanu," both women greeted in unison, sharing a look.
They both wanted to know so badly that the itch was almost physical, but it wasn't like they could simply ask. With their one question would come a dozen more from Keanu. Though, as faith would have it, the truth they were seeking wasn't far behind a still half asleep Mr. Reeves.
"Darling," an all too familiar voice purred, shuffling into the kitchen, her blonde hair held up in a loose ponytail and her elegant frame wrapped up in fine satin. Unlike Keanu, Miranda didn't even bother with pleasantries, going straight over to where he stood at the integrated refrigerator, holding him in a hug from behind, strategically angling her left hand so the large rock on her finger would be on full display.
"Still wanna know?" Emma whispered near Zelda's ear, their heads almost touching.
Scoffing, Zelda seemed caught between a sarcastic smirk and a frown, "Not any more."
And because the world was such a cruel place and open wounds would be pointless without a little salt, Miranda abruptly turned to them. "Ladies! Have you two seen my ring?" Without warning she thrust her hand towards them, making the engagement ring on her finger hard to avoid, "Gorgeous right? Keke loves to spoil me," her words were perfectly gag worthy and Emma was finding it difficult to keep down the half cup of coffee she'd had. It wasn't like she was opposed to love or affection or anything, she'd really liked to think of herself as well adjusted in that way, but during the one weekend she'd spent around Miranda, her affections for Keanu always seemed so dramatic that it was nothing short of an elaborate farce.
Yet, it wasn't like she had much of a choice when it came to going forward and having to endure it. Jobs in the fashion world were hard to come by and freelancing would hardly be enough to cover living expenses. So, alas, she'd have to put up with Miranda for a quite while to come. "Don't worry Emily," Emma hadn't even realized she'd zoned out until Miranda called her by the wrong name, for probably the dozenth time. At her next words, Miranda's voice dropped below what Keanu could hear, and there was a wicked glimmer in her gaze, "You're pretty enough, I'm sure you can trick a man into buying you a nice ring. Might not be as many carats, but you'll manage."
That little quip was definitely pay back for Saturday. Fuming, Emma longed to just let her have it, but she was growing so versed in holding her tongue that she did again, deciding right then and there that as much as she loved the kids, she was wholly willing to take the next sustaining job as long as Miranda was in the picture.

Review episode 312
It’s weird because I enjoyed the episode but most of my comments are actually criticism so bare with me 😂
Overall it was a nice episode to watch. The acting was on point especially for Sarah and Poppy imo they carried this episode but also probably cause they’re the one with the most compelling stories on this one. The episode kinda felt like a filler but honestly that’s because the show is focusing too much on the allergy and we know that’s not gonna be fixed til the end so as long as they make that the main story of the sisters, most episodes are gonna feel like fillers when it comes to them. Macy and Maggie had their own little adventure with a ghost which was funny (again kudo to Sarah), Harry and Mel went on a quest for a soul tho we still have no clue what it actually meant and Abigael was going through her own little traumatic hell in the tomb (Poppy really has been particularly slaying this storyline acting wise ).
Screen time
Abigael: 6m11s
Macy: 17m24s
Mel: 11m15s

What I liked
Maggie still got the internship and I’m glad back she deserved it. I really don’t dislike Antonio but I’m also glad they kinda made it clear she wasn’t interested and that she finally made progress with her feelings for Jordan.
Abigael. I liked it because it gave us more insight on Abigael’s past (tho I still think they should have given us this earlier). I always theorised that from her childhood, she was obviously scared from the fact her mom never really accepted her demon side which created her deep feeling of rejection and how she was never accepted and never belonged. But I also thought she had some kind of loving family. Like to me these two things were not necessarily contradictory. Well apparently not. Her mom straight out abused her during her childhood. Which definitely explain why she choose the demon side like that. Both her parents were terrible to them but as she said in the past, at least she can understand demon a little but. She can rationalise it base on their nature. When it came from her mom however, it came fully from a place of dislike which must have been very harmful on a child. So obviously when I say I like it I don’t mean I like what her mom did to her, but I really like the insight and explanation. And again, Poppy did an amazing job. She made Abigael feel so vulnerable and scared, and confirmed that, ultimately what Abigael always wanted was acceptance. Which she first needs to give to herself.
Marisol and Macy sharing a scene. I have my issues with how it went which I’ll come to later. But I’m glad it existed and Mads really showed great emotions.
That was a short list because if I did enjoy the episode and there was some highlights I’ll talk about later, I also can’t really pintpoint things I loved.
What I disliked
Harry’s story. I just really don’t like how they make it all about the relationship when it could be so much deeper than that. I also am not sure I like the length to which he’s ready to go for it. Like the entire soul donation is a bit weird to me.
Marisol and Macy. Listen that one made me angry. Maybe it wouldn’t have if Macy actually had other stuff going on than her relationship with Harry but with the way the show has been writing her mostly around her relationship with Harry, it really didn’t come across well to me. The fact we had for the first time a in present tense scene between Macy and Marisol and all they talked about a man has me fuming. Maybe if they had had a longer time to talk. But they had like two minutes and most of it was about men.
The sisters. I don’t like the fact Mel wasn’t there when they were going to connect with their mom. I feel like that should have been a story kept for all three of them. I’m also annoyed that they once again refused to give us some Mel and Macy. I would have liked to see them a bit. Once again that sisterly bond feels like it’s non existent.
Melby. I cannot believe anyone would actually look at them and think yes that’s good. The treatment is absolutely terrible. The buildup was bad - because it was supposed to last - and the fact it’s all off screen is absolutely terrible. Ruby has been in three episode this season. One of them she didn’t actually share a scene with Ruby. The second episode they were full of drama and jealousy and they were so easily breaking up. And suddenly we jump to the I love yous. And were supposed to find that cute ? Like what are we supposed to think they love about each other? The constant breaking ups ? Cause that’s the most consistent thing about them. It kinda feels cheap in the way it’s done ngl.
What doesn’t make sense
Why was Jordan in the description ? I feel they’re kinda trying to avoid putting Abi’s name in the summaries (or at least it feels like it) but like .... Jordan had not reason to even be talked about. He didn’t appear once. It should have been Abi’s name in there.
The pills falling from the pocket Like ... Harry you had literally one job. How exactly did they fall ??
Why did they seem lost until their realised Jordy was a descendant and they could use his soul. Did I miss something saying it needed to be a male descendant ? Cause like ... Gil (Jil ? Idk) was literally right there. (Nevermind apparently I missed them saying « male descendent » my bad dkdjd
How did abi know she was in the tomb. Like I know my girl is smart but like ... she has basically no contact with the sisters at this point so how on earth did she learn how the tomb works and what happens inside ??
Highlights
The hammer. Listen, don’t ask me why but this picture of abi has been sending me for weeks now and I’ve been wondering the context since I’ve seen it. Like it gives me the biggest dumb bitch energy ever. The fact that abi is a very smart person and just thought a hammer would get her out of the tomb just has me laughing like it’s just too funny to me 😭
“The British hot lady” Swan I understand You
The way Maggie calls for Abi and gets into her apartment. I don’t know why I just love it.
Macy trying to lie to Antonio. Macy’s face when she lies is always a delight.
No but do any of these older generations know what not having an affair even mean? But I mean like father like son I guess.
« Who footnotes a spell » Macy’s face was so funny 😭 she was so done with it.
Theories
Not gonna lie. I’m a bit scare about next episode. I think it might be really interesting but also I’m very scare of the execution especially when it comes to Abigael and Macy. I do believe Macy has valid to distrust Abigael. However the show has been terrible at portraying those. And ultimately, especially lately, the sisters and Abigael have barely crossed paths. They’re barely in each other’s lives. All the do is coexist in the same city and interact when demons are involved which isn’t really the case. So right now all abi is doing is keeping the demons in lines. So I’m scared that Macy’s rightful dislike and distrust is almost gonna come across as pettiness or jealousy. But I also think that there is a difference between not trusting Abigael and say she deserves to be in the tomb. Cause at the end of the day past episode 4 what has she really done so terrible that deserves eternal suffering/delusion or whatever the tomb actually does. She’s manipulative and self serving sure but she also helps more than anything. The sisters have actually nothing to win have having Abigael stuck in there. And more to lose.
One theory is that the perfecti are trying to isolate the sisters. Putting abi and Jordan in the tomb is separating them from their allies and helping Harry to lose his powers is taking their guidance/healer away from them.
Another is just that really just have a very strict black and white vision and Abigael being a demon and Jordan helping them makes them automatically in the black category. Which the title seems to be referring to so it’s probably this.
I think the upcoming episode might be a way to introduce the whole controversy around Macy’s demon powers. And slowly bringing up the story of Abigael giving them back to her.
I think it also might be a way to actually have the show approach the wrongs Abigael did in the show. But also the rights. After all, it seems like they’ll need to prove she doesn’t deserve to be in it. Which I personally don’t think she does. Though she definitely did wrong things in her life. So I think they might actually use this as an occasion to have the sisters talk about what she did do that was wrong. And hopefully also highlight that she did help them on multiple occasions.
With the “previously in charmed” it makes it feel like they’re still going with Maggie not knowing Jordan can actually touch her and this doesn’t stop confusing me. But I can see the show have them hug once he’s out of the tomb and then kinda admit their feelings finally and Jordan say something in the lines that he kept it from her because he didn’t want to put pressure on her or that him being able to touch her didn’t change the fact she wanted to focus on herself or something on those lines.
One thing I want to talk about is Abigael. Please don’t read this paragraph if you haven’t heard about the rumours going around. //// The fact is, there is a very strong change Poppy is leaving the show. And the way they made this episode made it very clear Abigael was abused as a child. But that she is also absolutely craving love and acceptance. And that she does love her mom and always wanted her love. I’m very scared that if they make Abigael leave (better than die) they’d make her go back to her sister and family and try to fix their relationship. Which would absolutely be terrible message to give as we literally know now that she was abused. And making a character go back to their abusers because of the trauma it caused (her fear of rejection and inability to actually accept herself) would just be disgusting. But I’m scared that’s the road they’re gonna take.

Love was in the air at Belvoire. That’s right it was Valentine’s Day and our beloved Chloe couldn’t wait to spoil Bea.
“Veronica!” Chloe yelled in panic as she stormed into the girls room.
“Wow Chloe chill. What’s up?” Veronica asked jumping out of her skin.
“Tomorrow is Valentine’s Day.”
“Yes? I’m aware.”
“Well I wanna do something fun and special for Bea...but I need ideas.”
“Ok you’ve come to the right place. Now listen carefully Chloe. The best gift you can get for Bea is you.” Veronica smirked.
“You mean you will wrap me up in my box? I still have it under my bed! I’ll go get it!” Chloe tried to slip away but Veronica stopped her and sighed.
“No Chloe you won’t need the box this time. All you need is, well you.”
“How do you mean?” Chloe questioned confused.
“Ok, Valentine’s Day is a day to show your partner how much they mean to you and how much you love them right?”
Chloe slowly nodded.
“And how do you show Bea you love her the most?”
“By taking her to a horse show? Bea loves horses.” Chloe smiled, while Veronica face palmed.
“No Chloe. And horses? Really?”
“She loves them!” Chloe protested.
“Forget the horses!” Veronica shouted. “You’re going to fuck her brains out tomorrow night!”
“I am?” Chloe pondered.
“Yes Chloe. Doesn’t Bea like making love with you?” Veronica asked making Chloe grin from ear to ear.
Bea always teased her girlfriend on her attributes. She claimed Chloe was 10% brains, 20% looks, 30% heart, and 40% fuck-ability, all summed up to be 100% Bea’s sweet girl.
“Yes! I can make her come over and....”
“Ok great! Wonderful idea Chloe!” Veronica shouted cutting the blonde off. “So just go out and get something sexy that she will like, maybe get some flowers and chocolates too. And bring her here for a long passionate night.”
“Ok! I think I can do that! Bye! Thanks V!” Chloe hugged her friend and ran out the door, nearly tackling Poppy in the process.
“Hey! Watch where you’re going Chloe! And stop! I need you to run an errand for me! CHLOE!”
“Save it Pops, she’s got Bea on her mind.” Veronica said leaning against her doorframe watching Chloe dash out the front door.
“Ewww, don’t tell me she’s bringing farmsville here again.” Poppy made a gagging noise.
“Just let her be happy.”
Chloe spent the afternoon doing some last minute shopping, getting the flowers, candles and an assortment of chocolate. All that was left was the sexy outfit that Bea would love, and she had just the idea.
The next night rolled around and Bea couldn’t wait to see what Chloe had in store for her. But given Chloe’s track record, she was both excited and nervous because of her girlfriends ‘creativity’.
“Hey Bea.” Veronica greeted as she opened the door, “You look cute.”
“Thanks V, as do you. You got a big Valentine’s date tonight?”
“Nah, I’m gonna go meet Ford in a bit. There’s nothing ‘big’ about it.” Veronica laughed making Bea join in.
“I’m assuming you’re gonna meet him a few minutes before bedtime?” Bea teased.
“Definitely. It’s gonna take longer to get my pants off and back on than it will to do it with him.”
“Well you try and have fun, I can’t wait to see Chloe.” Bea said giving Veronica a hug and started for her girlfriend’s room.
“Hey Pops.” Bea greeted passing Poppy on the stairs.
“Don’t talk to me loser.”
Bea grinned as she walked into Chloe’s room, startled by the surprise. Dark room, red lights, flower petals on the bed and vanilla candles burning across the room.
“Oh Chloe this is wonderful.” Bea smiled in awe.
Chloe stood from the bed and greeted B with a kiss. “I hope you like it. I’ve been working on it all day.”
“I love it. And I love you.” Bea placed a sloppy kiss to Chloe’s forehead making her smile like an idiot.
“Ok now, the food will be here in 45 minutes. That gives us plenty of time to...”Chloe started but was pulled down to the bed by a hungry Bea.
“Wait wait! I’ve got one more thing to do, and I think you’ll like this. I’ll be back in a minute!” Chloe rushed off into her bathroom locking the door shut.
Bea’s mind short circuited at the possibilities. It had to be lingerie. Chloe had a killer body and always came in clutch with her undies. But Bea couldn’t help think that everything was going too well, it was still Chloe after all.
She pushed it aside and stripped down naked and struck a pose on Chloe’s bed waiting for her. Her heart accelerated when she heard the lock on the door click and out came Chloe.
“Surprise!” Chloe squealed wearing a horse onsie.
“Chloe what the hell are you wearing?” Bea busted out.
Chloe dropped to all fours and ‘trotted’ over to Bea. “I’m a horse! I know you love horses! So now, are you gonna ride me or not?” Chloe gave a suggestive wink.
“You’re such a nerd.” Bea couldn’t stop the tears from escaping. This was perfect. “I didn’t catch the role playing memo.”
“That’s ok!” Chloe smiled crawling onto the bed, because you’re about to endure the wildest 8 second ride you’ve ever had.”
Bea couldn’t help but gulp. Chloe wasn’t the sharpest tool in the shed but she could do one thing greater than anyone, and that was fuck.
“Well madam horse thingy, I guess you’re gonna need this.” Bea said giving Chloe her Valentine’s gift. “But please, lose the costume, it’ll be weird.”
Chloe immediately stripped down and strapped on her gift from Bea, aiming to please.
“Now take it easy with that thing Chloe. It’s not exactly small.” Bea grimaced as Chloe teased her entrance.
“I knew you had a thing for horses Bea. This is perfect.” Chloe groaned as she shoved herself deep into Bea making the girl belt out a moan as her toes curled inwards.
“This is gonna be fun! Happy Valentine’s Day!” Chloe grunted finding the perfect rhythm.
Bea grabbed the headboard and braced herself for the pounding Chloe was delivering. “Best Valentine’s Day ever.”
“I love you Bea.” Chloe said leaning down to kiss her girlfriend.
“I love you too babe.”

(i had a huge writer’s block and im getting back into writing more often so this chapter is pretty short but next chapter will definitely be longer)
word count: 3.3k
part 1: part 2:
The make up
After the never ending nightmare provided by Chloe and her idiotic clique, Bea’s reputation at Belvoire couldn’t possibly be worse. Everywhere she went she was met with stares, or laughter, and some students would even go as far as to catcall her or demand a dance or two. Never so badly did Bea wish she could be invisible but alas it felt as if the world was against her even more and she couldn’t bring herself to find comfort in the person she loves the most, Poppy. After feeling heartbroken from Poppy’s actions, or lack of, Bea had been busying herself over the last couple of days so she wouldn’t have to see the blonde.
It didn’t help that Poppy was constantly blowing up Bea’s phone almost every second, not knowing why the brunette was ignoring her. It wasn’t until cheer/volleyball practice on Thursday that the blonde managed to steal a moment alone with her girlfriend after waiting for the girls to leave the locker room and then making the excuse she needed to find her speaker for practice and pulling an unsuspecting Bea to the back of the locker room.
“Poppy what the hell, let go. I have to be on time for practice since I missed practice on Tuesday because of work.” Bea’s tone is slightly agitated as she tries to shake out of Poppy’s ironclad grip but the unwavering blonde just tightens it embedding the shape of her slender fingers on the brunette’s arm.
“Not until you tell me why you’ve been avoiding me,” her voice is quiet, as she tries to catch Bea’s eyes searching for an answer.
Bea defeatedly sighs and faces the girl, her head slightly tilted down to look the blonde directly in her eyes, “You know why Pops.” Poppy’s grip slightly loosens up and Bea takes advantage and shakes her arm out of her grasp and sits on the bench in the corner with her head between her hands. “After what happened on Monday, I can barely walk through school without some asshole making a comment or giving me a weird look. I feel so… violated.” Her voice was low but soft like she was tired of it all.
Poppy wasn’t used to seeing Bea so vulnerable… so broken, usually when something like this happened at school Bea would reassure Poppy that she was okay and that Chloe’s words couldn’t hurt her. Only this time, it wasn’t just words, they publicly humiliated her girlfriend, and Poppy had never felt so powerless, as she watched her girlfriend on the brink of tears, fists balled up, but she couldn’t bring herself to move, to speak, all she could do was watch. Until Veronica broke out of her own faze and moved towards the brunette and tell everyone off. In the back of Poppy’s mind she knew that she should’ve been the one to defend her girlfriend’s honour, that she should’ve been the one by her side, not just this once but all the other times before, but her fears of everyone finding out the truth prohibited her from supporting her girlfriend, that damned fear that everyone would find out they were together which could be social suicide. For her career obviously, not her friends, they could eventually learn to love Bea, right?
Poppy pushes all thoughts from her mind and sits down next to a crestfallen Bea who’s breaths are becoming quicker, hands still wrapped tightly against her head. Poppy reaches over and wraps the girl in a one armed hug hoping the brunette doesn’t pull away, and feels a wave of relief when Bea nestles her head in the crook of the blonde’s neck and begins to regain her breathing.
“Poppy… why didn’t you say anything?” Bea’s voice was low, slightly muffled as she spoke into the blonde’s neck, if she wasn’t nestled in Poppy’s embrace Poppy would’ve missed the question altogether.
Poppy places her chin above the girl’s head and sighes and as she opens her mouth to answer, she realises that she doesn’t have an answer, or at least one that would satisfy both herself and Bea. Instead she stays silent, though her deafening silence is enough for Bea to know that neither of them had an answer. Bea pulls away from Poppy and pushes herself away from her on the bench leaving some distance between themselves, in more ways than one.
“I… see..” her voice is strained, as she battles with the tears that threaten her eyes, on the brink of exposing her hurt.
“So what do we do now? Bea.. I…I miss you so much,” Poppy murmurs, her voice slightly chokes as she apprehensively fiddles her fingers together.
Bea’s nostrils flare slightly as she grips the bench before using her force to push herself off to face the petite girl, anger flashing across all her features, she involuntarily raises her voice, “You think that this has been easy for me, Pops? It’s literally breaking my heart because I can’t talk to you about this,” her voice cracks slightly but she quickly masks it by clearing her throat and looking away.
Poppy jumps up from her seat and tries to grab Bea’s wrist to turn her around to face her and Bea pulls out of her grasp and moves towards the front of the locker room, Bea’s tone almost pleading as she looks at Poppy with sorrow in her eyes, the angered tone replaced with a softer one “just..give me some space Poppy, I just can’t really be around you right now.” Poppy tries to intercept and just as she opens her mouth Bea puts up a hand to stop her, “seriously Pops, please. After what you and your friends did I just can’t be around you right now.”
Poppy feels anger flaring up inside of her as she scrunches up her face and runs a hand through her hair, “Me?’ she points to herself, losing control of her voice raising it, ‘What the hell did I do? I didn’t even kno-”
Bea practically screams her whole face turning red as tiny specks of saliva leave her mouth as she shouts, “It’s what you didn’t do! You watched them humiliate me and you didn’t do anything! I thought my girlfriend was supposed to support me but maybe I was wrong.” With that she turns and walks out of the locker room leaving behind a broken hearted Poppy who just falters at the harsh reality of Bea’s words.
Poppy sits down on the bench, alone, thoughts running wild through her mind. She doesn’t care about the fact that the girls are probably waiting for her at cheer practice, her heart just hurts too much. She sits in silence until the sounds of heavy footsteps interrupt her thoughts, she looks up hoping it’s Bea but feels dejected when she sees a hint of grey-ish ombre hair.
“Poppy what the hell? We’re all waiting for you to tell us what to do.” Veronica tone impatient and she stands in front of the blonde with a hand on her hip, eyebrows raised. Poppy just hums non committedly, earning a frown from Veronica who in turn, proceeds to grab the girl by her arm to lift her off the bench, pulling Poppy from her reverie.
“Ow, chill V- what the hell” Poppy rubs at the spot which the ombre-haired girl just grabbed and pushes her slightly back, “Can’t I just take like 5 minutes to myself?”
Veronica has known Poppy long enough to know that something is on her mind since the blonde has a pretty clear track record for when it comes to showing up to practice on time, she sighs and cups Poppy’s cheeks staring directly into her eyes, “Now are you gonna tell me what’s up or are you gonna waste all of our time pretending you’re okay?”
“I’m fine V,” she moves towards the entrance of the locker room but is quickly pulled back by Veronica who knits her eyebrows together, features looking downcast.
“P, I’ve known you long enough to know something’s up, tell me.”
Poppy bites her lips her gaze drifts to the ground and she lets out an annoyed sigh, “I finally spoke to Bea”
Veronica perks up a little, “that’s good right?”
Poppy responds with a shake of her head obtaining a look of disapproval from the girl, “what happened when you guys talked?”
“She practically blamed me for what happened on monday, I mean how was I supposed to know that Chloe would do something so cruel? I didn’t think she had the brain cells to even come up with something like that.”
“What the hell?! It wasn’t your fault, do you want me to talk to Bea?” Veronica’s protectiveness bursts out as she awaits Poppy's answer.
‘No, I-, I didn’t mean it like that. I mean she’s right.’ Veronica sits down on the bench and pats the space next to her and Poppy obliges and sits down. “Bea was mad because I didn’t do anything, and she has every right to be mad. I mean, am I a shitty girlfriend?” She looks over to Veronica praying that she holds the answer to her question.
Veronica wraps her arm around Poppy and sighs before speaking, “Do you know why I got involved and stood up for Bea?”
“So my girlfriend could hate my guts because it should’ve been me?”
Veronica exasperates a little, lightly slapping Poppy’s back, “No idiot, I did it for you.” Poppy grimaces as she waits for Veronica to continue. Seeing that she isn’t going to interrupt Veronica carries on speaking, “I saw your face when you realised what they were doing to Bea, and I know that you were feeling conflicted. I mean I wouldn’t want to be in your place, having a girlfriend that no one can know about because our friends hate her because she’s part of the working class or whatever. Or a homophobic dad who has extremely high expectations and expects you to be the best of the best because he thinks it’s what your mom would’ve wanted.” If Veronica’s known for one thing, it's her bluntness. Her cold hard deliverance of the truth stunned Poppy, who for the first time does not have the words as reality dawns on her.
“... You’re right,” Poppy eyes frantically move side to side as she reflects on the past and realises that Bea has had to endure a lot of crap from her friends over the past couple of years, and she berates herself for thinking that her girlfriend could handle it on her own. She groans into Veronica’s shoulder, “God I’m such an idiot… I've been expecting Bea to just be okay with all the verbal abuse and I’ve never said anything to Chloe, I just let it all happen.” She jumps to her feet, suddenly feeling resolved, she looks down at Veronica who just blankly stares at Poppy hoping for an answer for her sudden awakening. “I know what I have to do” and with that she runs out of the locker room ignoring Veronica as she calls out to her.
Poppy moves with determination as she heads over to the hall where volleyball practice takes place and before she opens the door she peeks her head though the window and sees a disheartened Bea running laps as Chloe barks out orders to the rest of her teammates.
She throws the doors open and charges towards Chloe who notices a furious Poppy moving towards her and breaks out into a smile, “Hey P, aren’t you supposed to be at prac-” Poppy practically slams Chloe into the wall and practice comes to a halt as all the girls, including Bea watch the ordeal unfold. “Owww, what the hell” Chloe tries to move from Poppy’s hold as her back is flat against the wall but the shorter girl filled with anger and adrenaline rams the girl back into the wall.
“That crap you pulled on Monday wasn’t cool and you’re not gonna bother Bea or speak about her mom again. Otherwise you’re going to regret it.” Poppy’s eyes bore into Chloe’s, her tone threatening but low, only meant for the blue-eyed girl to hear.
Chloe’s temper flares as she looks over Poppy’s shoulder to see a confused Bea watching the two girls with a frown and in the moment she manages to shove Poppy back and overemphasises her height against the strawberry blonde, keeping her posture straight and her head bent slightly to look down at her, “So what? Because you’re lab partners you guys are all buddy buddy? Who gives a shit about that tramp? What you’re not going to do Poppy is walk into practice and try to embarrass me in front of my team.” Chloe’s voice echoes throughout the hall as she struggles to keep her temper under control.
Poppy’s somewhat startled by Chloe’s outburst but maintains her stoic expression and leans in to whisper, “I could end your life Chloe, don’t test me.” She looks down at Chloe’s hands to see them shaking as they’re balled up into fists, she knows the girl would never touch a hair on her head but she also doesn’t want to escalate the situation any further in case the fallout is bad for Bea. Well, there’s just one more card for her to play, she sighs and rubs her forehead with one hand as she reaches out and clasps one of Chloe’s fists with her other, “I don’t want you talking about Bea’s mom because at least she has one, no matter how shitty she may be.”
All the colour drains from Chloe’s face as her body relaxes and she looks more embarrassed than anything else, using her dead mom as bait for no one to find out about her and Bea? She’ll take that opportunity.
Chloe simply splutters struggling to find the words, so she just wraps her arms around Poppy and mumbles into Poppy’s ear, “I’m sorry, I didn’t realise how much that would’ve affected you.”
Poppy rolls her eyes slightly as she knows that Chloe’s sincerity is only for her and not Bea but she releases herself from Chloe’s embrace and places a hand on Chloe’s shoulder, “I’m sorry I shouldn’t have barged in here during practice but it was eating me up inside and I just had to say something.” Chloe aggressively nods along to each and every one of Poppy’s words and her lips form a small smile, which Poppy reciprocates.
“Well, umm I should get back to practice and so should you, I’ll tell the guys as well to stop too”
Poppy genuinely smiles at the girl and gives her a small thank you before turning around to leave the gym. Her eyes catch Bea’s and she crinkles her eyes a little, giving a small smile before leaving the gym to go to practice in the field.
……
After a couple of gruelling hours of practice Poppy and the rest of the cheerleaders all shower and change before forming a small semicircle around the team captain. Poppy’s gaze shifts between every girl before landing on Veronica’s who gives her a wink. “Great practice today girls, remember that we need to be in top shape for the first football game against Hearst in two weeks.” She claps her hands together as all eyes are entranced on her, “I’m sorry I was late to practice so you guys had to stay back a little longer but remember that your dedication is what’s most important to the team. Also I’m still deciding who will be part of the smaller group to cheer at the volleyball games. When the teams make it to nationals we will be representing Belvoire at the games and will be invited to stay with the volleyball team for two weeks in spring. So…. impress me girls.” The cheerleaders disperse as Veronica and Poppy walk out of the locker room side by side and Veronica bumps Poppy’s shoulder slightly as they walk out to the dimly lit empty parking lot.
“So I’m guessing whatever epiphany you had worked out”
Poppy chuckles a bit, “what makes you think that?”
“Well you weren’t a crazy bitch today in practice so there’s that. What exactly did you do?”
Poppy lazily picks at one of her manicured nails, “What I should’ve done from the start, gave Chloe a piece of my mind.”
Veronica lets out a loud exaggerated cough and Poppy looks up at her eyebrow raised, “well whatever you said, I’m guessing it worked,” she nods her head towards the direction over Poppy’s shoulder and Poppy turns to see Bea leaning against her motorbike her eyes fixated on hers and she smiles. “Well, I’ll take that as my cue to leave” she gives the blonde a quick hug and salutes to Bea before heading into her car and driving away.
Poppy saddles up to Bea and awkwardly tucks in some of her hair behind her ears. Both of them just stare at each other, waiting for the other to initiate the conversation until Bea lets out a laugh.
“So…”
“So….”
“I liked that tactic of yours, slamming Chloe against the wall, I mean I’ve been wishing to do that for years.”
Poppy throws her head back and laughs, “Not my finest moment but I had to do something,” She nervously chews on her lips as she awaits for Bea’s reaction.
“Yeah, that was uh something,” She hesitantly reaches out to the blonde gripping her waist and pulling her closer, “I’m not fully happy with you though, but thank you. I don’t know what you said to Chloe but this was the first practice where she treated me with some decency.”
Internally, Poppy screams with happiness as this was the first time in days where Bea just simply holds her and she wraps her arms around the taller girl’s neck resting her forehead against hers. “I don’t expect you to forgive me, I know I have to earn that. And I know I’ve been a shitty girlfriend-”
Bea shushes Poppy her hand moving up to cup Poppy’s jaw while her thumb circles her cheekbone, “You’re not a shitty girlfriend Pops. It’s just I wish you could just I don’t know, publicly support me a little. No one’s gonna suspect anything about us just because you’re being a respectable human being.”
“I know, I know. If I’m being honest, I just froze, I didn’t know what to do but my first instinct should’ve been to help you. It’s just so hard sometimes when everyone’s watching because honestly speaking Bea? I don’t know how you do it sometimes. You’re the most incredible person ever and you deserve to be with someone you can actually be with, not just someone you have to hide in the shadows with.”
Bea places a finger on Poppy’s lips, silencing her, and when she speaks it’s with the greatest intensity and desirability, “I choose you Poppy. Everyday I choose you. I know it’s not without its challenges but I would rather do hard with you than have it easy with somebody else. You’re worth it all. I just want a little more support, that's all I ask.”
“And that’s exactly what you’re going to get Bea, I promise,” she leans in and places a soft kiss against Bea’s lips and whispers, “I love you so much, and I promise to do better.”
Bea feverently kisses the blonde before whispering back, “I love you too. Now that we’re okay..how would you like to accompany me to a party this Saturday” her eyes gleam with hopefulness as she knows that Ford is already planning a back to school party on saturday and Poppy’s obligations would usually fall align with her friends. “There’s even going to be fireworks.”
Poppy kisses the brunette, “Fireworks huh? I would love to” she kisses Bea again, filled with passion as the couple of days they spent without each other catches up to them and Bea grips Poppy’s hips tighter pulling her impossibly closer to her.

Reputation Chapters 1-6
======
The morning after I received that text from Poppy I was sitting at the kitchen counter stool with Zoey cooking some pancakes. Getting Poppy's text just made me more confused. I refused to think how it gave me a small hope. That maybe she would see me as someone more than her enemy.
"So how's working with Poppy?" She asked as she casually flipped the pancakes in the pan.
"Oh," I jerked to reality when Zoey's voice interrupting my thoughts. She turned around and narrowed her eyes towards me - scrutinizing my reaction. I gulped and smiled awkwardly at her.
"Bea, are you alright?" She asked.
 I nodded, still smiling.
She looked at me hard before smiling, "Okay. Now spill what happened yesterday."
Zoey turned her back from me again focusing on the pancakes, I let the smile on my lips, "It was alright," More than alright to be honest. I paused, "She was really different at the animal shelter. She was gentle, compassionate, sweet--" I chuckled as the images of yesterday flashed in my mind.
Zoey turned and looked at me her eyes narrowed once again, "Girl she was around dogs. Anyone would get soft and mushy in the face of puppy-dog eyes."
I gulped. She turned around again to focus on the pancakes. I stifled a sigh, "I know that. I'm just saying that what if there is really something more about Poppy? Have you ever imagined if we'll have her on our side and finally we can wave the white flag and rule the school as equals?"
Turning the stove off, she turned around. She sighed, "You're so optimistic about this. I still am not convinced with all of this. I just want you to be careful," Her bright smile turned softer, "Specially with how Poppy likes backstabbing people. I don't want to see you get hurt just because you got too close with Poppy's claws."
"Aww Zo." I cooed. My heart melted with the softness in her eyes. Guilt started to creep in me as I continue to stare at Zoey.
She chuckled before her eyes flashed with certain seriousness, "I trust you Bea, but I've been here since the start of Poppy's reigns. Trust me when I say never let your guard down when you're with her."
I gulped thickly the words she said hit me deeper than I thought. I plastered a smile to mask the nervousness creeping on me. Does Zoey know my growing attraction for Poppy? I stood up and walked towards her. I enveloped her with a hug, "Thank you for looking out for me Zo. You're really the best." I'm sorry I can't tell you yet how I really feel about Poppy. I'm not even sure what I'm putting myself into.
She rubbed my back soothingly, "Of course Bea. You're my best friend."
I sighed as her hug brought comfort while my mind drowned in the sea of thoughts full of Poppy's name.
 ===
Later at lunch time, Poppy asked me to meet her at a high end restaurant where we'll meet up with Chloe. I made sure to arrive at least a few minutes early. I had decided to talk to her. I don't know how cooperative she will be, but at this point where I felt like I'm gonna lose my mind thinking what she really feels about me; I'd rather do something, anything with how messy my emotions had become.
I arrived at the high end restaurant. A waitress guided me to a private room. As the door opened I saw Poppy already sitting in one of the four chairs in the huge table at the centre of the room. She looked up from her phone and as our eyes met a hundred of butterflies fluttered in my stomach as her brown eyes bore on me. I gulped thickly feeling the wind knocked out of me. I knew Poppy was beautiful. Heck, her beauty caught me the first time we met, but something in her felt different today. Was it the way her brown eyes widened a little when she saw me? Or was it how the corners of her lips tugged into a soft smile? Soft smile. My heart was threatening to explode in my chest.
"You're early." She spoke. When did her voice sound this gentle? With my heart pounding and mind raising a hundred questions per second I almost forgot to speak.
I cleared my throat, "I was hoping I could talk to you before Chloe arrives."
 "Then take a sit first."
I took a bee line towards the chair in front of her, but before I can even touch the chair she spoke again, "Sit here beside me Farmsville."
I stuttered in shock, "I... Are you.. Wh--"
She rolled her eyes, "Just sit here, now." Her was voice stern as she narrowed her eyes at me.
I gulped my words back to save me from more embarrassment. Once I sat beside her, I turned slightly towards her.
"So?" She asked already waiting for me to speak.
I cleared my throat, "Honestly, Poppy I'm confused. What are you up to? Why did you invite me today? Why me? You could have just invited Veronica today," Words continuously spilled out from me; half of my worries and fears masked in those words.
"Okay slow down Hughes." She said calmly, "You have too many questions."
"How can I not?" I tried not let my frustrations won over me. "Like this is weird and surprising and--"
I suddenly forgot how to speak when her hand gently lay on mine. The warmth of her hand grounding me back to the present. My eyes grew wide as I looked from her hand on mine to her face.
She had a soft smile again, "I swear will you calm down Hughes? Breath."  I badly want to tell her, how am I supposed to calm down when her hand was on mine, but she paused and raised an eyebrow waiting for me to obey her and so I did.
"Good." She spoke again. "You're the one who told me before to stop over analysing things and just use my eyes." She chuckled.
My eyes grew wide again. It wasn't a mocking or humorless laugh. She sounded really genuine and amused. "Who are you? What have you done to Poppy?" I pointed an accusing finger with my free hand.
She shook her head still smiling, "Please I'm too perfect to have a clone."
"And sheeee's back." I giggled making her chuckle.
"Like I said, I need someone to prevent me from killing Chloe right on the spot."
I smirked at her, "As if you can do that."
Rolling her eyes she continued, "Plus I'm completely still using the privileges of us still in truce."
I raised my eyebrow at her, "What if I just want for us to have this truce permanently?"
Before she can even reply the door flew open. Chloe walked in and instantly raised an eyebrow at me, "What is she doing here?" There was sharpness in her voice.
Poppy slowly retracted her hand on mine which I wasn't even aware that was still there. She cleared her throat and looked at Chloe passively, "I invited her, just in case I lose my patience and do something," She paused smirking her voice turning husky, "really bad."
 I saw Chloe visibly gulped.
Poppy smiled coldly, "Go on take a sit."
Later on, as the foods were served and the three of us started to eat quietly. The awkward silence made me lost my appetite in the middle of the meal. I sighed at last, my patience wearing thin. They haven't even tried to speak since Chloe sat.
Putting my utensils down, I threw a look on both of them. I groaned, "Okay that's it." They both pause and looked at me. "You two talk." I crossed my arms and gestured with my chin on them.
Poppy wiped her lips carefully with the table napkin before she spoke," You heard her Chlo."
Chloe scoffed, "What? Is she my replacement?"
This time I scoffed, "Excuse me? No offense Pops and Chloe, but hell no I would be your replacement."
Poppy coughed masking the laugh she almost released. When I met Poppy's eyes I stifled the smile I almost showed. I turned again my attention towards Chloe, "Anyway, let's focus on the important matter here. I believe you want to talk to Poppy?"
Chloe sighed, "Fine. I'll let this one slide newbie." She finally looked at Poppy. She gulped, "I know how much being on top means to you. I need you to believe I didn't do anything. I'm also surprised to see the ranking system like that."
Poppy's eyebrow raised, "That's it? And you expect me to believe you because you said so?"
Chloe bit her lips, "No matter how much I try to tell you my side that is the truth. I don't know what happened." Chloe's eyes were glassy with unshed tears by now, "Poppy our friendship means so much to me. Do you really think I'll just ruin it stupidly like that?"
I saw Poppy's jaw clenched, "And what do you think I felt when I saw the ranking system?'
"I'm sorry that happened, but I swear I really didn't know how it happened." Chloe pleaded.
I dared to reach out and lay my hand on top of Poppy's. Not daring to meet Poppy's eyes and to see her reaction, I spoke to both of them, "You know what I believe you two?"
Both of them looked at me, "I believe no matter how much both of you can be mean and rude on the outside, I think both of you treasured your friendship." I smiled at them, "Poppy can't you give Chloe another chance?"
Poppy scowled at me, withdrawing her hand from mine she lightly slapped my hand, "I didn't brought you here for this."
I chuckled before smirking at Poppy, "I thought I was brought here so you can keep your anger to minimum?"
Poppy groaned, "How can I trust someone who betrayed me already?" She gestured on Chloe.
"Let her work for it?" I suggested randomly.
 Chloe suddenly interrupted, "Poppy."
Poppy turned to her, eyes calculating, "What?"
"I know you. You probably have some plan to get back on me or to make me lose my reputation, so you can get back your crown."
Poppy's lips pressed into a thin line, "Indeed, I have a plan."
"Then go on and do your plan, or if you want me to do anything to lose some of my reputation I'll willingly do something just to give you back the number one spot."
Poppy raised her eyebrow, "Why will you do that?"
Chloe sigh exasperated, eyes on the verged of tears, "Because in the first place I don't want this spot specially if it meant I'm losing my best friend."
I watched the quick flicker of softness in Poppy's eyes. She looked at me like searching for something - maybe searching for an answer. I can see the conflict brewing in her mind. I smiled reassuringly at her.
Poppy sighed then looked at Chloe, "Fine."
I feel how Chloe and I waited with bated breath for Poppy's next words. Poppy continued, "So here's my plan, Farmsville I need you in this too,"
 "W-What?" I exclaimed surprised.
"Why do you need her for the plan?" Chloe asked in shock.
"Shut it you two. Let me explain the plan first." It took another few minutes for Poppy to explain her plan. After that Chloe decided to leave first not before giving me one final curious look. Once we were alone, Poppy looked at me.
"Thanks for coming today," Poppy smiled softly at me.
Her smile, the softness in her eyes and her words tugged on my heartstrings. I can't help the grin the painted my lips, "Well I'm just glad that you considered talking to her and giving her a chance."
Poppy shrugged her shoulders before she stood up, "She's my best friend obviously."
I kept my grin at her, which made her glare at me. I just chuckled at her.
"Stop smiling like that." She said voice tight.
"What's the problem with me smiling like this?" I smiled some more showing my lopsided grin.
She rolled her eyes, but I managed to notice the faint blush on her cheeks, "You're teasing me aren't you?"
"I'm still not used seeing this side of you, but I like it." I winked at her.
Poppy groaned making me laugh. "Don't get used to this Hughes," She said when my laugh died down.
I just raised my eyebrow at her, "Sure Pops." Somehow I found her words hard to believe.
Poppy shrugged, "At least I warned you. Anyway, leave after a few minutes I left. I don't want people to have any idea of us having lunch together."
 "Alright."
She already opened the door when she paused in her step and looked back at me. She smirked once our eyes met, "See you tonight Bea."
Oh hells! She'll be the death of me.
 ===
I was waiting for Zoey in my room. I rummaged through my closet desperate to find something to wear for tonight. I tried not to let my nervousness win over me while chanting nothing is gonna happen later -  but no matter how I tried a huge part of me hoped to get more closer to Poppy tonight. That part, was blinded by the real Poppy that I saw for the past few days. If only there was a switch off button for feelings, but I don't have and I'm drowning fast with the emotions Poppy kept on igniting in me.
"Hey Bea," Zoey slipped into my room. "I got your text." She wriggled her phone.
"Thank God you're finally here. I need your help." I exasperatedly groaned.
 "What's up?"
"Well Poppy kinda extended our truce and she kind of need me tonight in a club?" I explained.
"Okay woah! What?" Shocked was written on her face.
"And Zo I don't wanna be late and face her wrath. Can I explain more later? The summary is she need me for something she planned for Chloe." I plead with my puppy-dog eyes.
Zoey sighed, "Fine. I need the whole dits later." She walked towards my closet rummaging fast through my options, "So club huh? Think you can look for some of Poppy's dirt while you can keep her close?"
"I'll try." I said half-heartedly, "I mean what can I find out in a club?"
She paused looking back at me, "You'll never know B. You might be surprised by an opportunity handed in your face, so keep your eyes and ears open."
 I smiled teasingly, "Yes ma'am."
Zoey chuckled. After a few more rummaging and her getting something in her room I'm finally adorned with a blue sexy dress.
 "Wow." Zoey exclaimed.
I can't help the smirk painting on my lips as I can already imagined Poppy's reaction.
"I can already feel a plan brewing on that pretty mind of yours." Zoey stood behind me our eyes meeting from the mirror.
My smirked widened, "Poppy won't know what hit her."
Zoey chuckled, "I like a confident woman Bea."
"Thank you for making me feel more confident Zo." I smiled softly at her.
"You know I always got your back."
I turned around to hug her, once we withdrew she looked at me straight in the eyes, "I already talked to you about being careful this morning, so I'll make it short. Take care of yourself tonight. Call me if anything happens."
 "I will. Thanks Zo."
Once I got to the club my eyes savored the view from outside. The way it made me felt like I'm walking down on Hollywood was amazing. Until someone interrupted me which was the bouncer Poppy sent to usher me inside to the VIP section to meet her. I immediately spot Poppy once I was inside. She waved me over.
"Glad to know you can follow directions Farmsville," She said once I was in front of her.
"Nice to see you too Poppy." I let my gaze wandered on her, letting her know how she piqued my interests, "You're looking fine tonight."
She scoffed, "Is that your attempt in flattery Farmsville?"
"I'd like to think I was just stating facts."
Her perfect pout twisted into a haughty smile," I guess you're more observant than I think." Her eye raked through my body, scrutinizing every part of me she can see. I can feel the growing lump in my throat and the acceleration in my heartbeat as her eyes moved through the length of my body.
When her eyes met mine again, a smirk played on her lips, "I have to say I am shock. You dressed up pretty well tonight. You managed to prove me a little that you might not be a total lost cause."
I huffed out a laugh, "I believe I just got an equivalent of compliment from Poppy Min-Sinclair."
She stared at me dead in the eyes," Don't get used to it Farmsville. My charity work has an expiration."
I rolled my eyes. Does she need to remind me that my feelings can be one sided? "Whatever Pops."
"Anyway, here's your earpiece," She handed it to me, "And here's for Bradley." Just like an obedient puppy Bradley came to us.
After Bradley got the earpiece he smiled at me, "You ready for this Bea?"
I almost forgot that he existed in this plan. I guess I was too caught up with my emotions. Whenever Poppy talked to me, she made me feel like we're invisible to the world - like it was only the two of us existing and no one were around to judge or talk about us.
I plastered a smile as I looked at him, ignoring the emotions brewing inside of me as reality slapped me that she was still Poppy's boyfriend, "Yeah. Let's do this."
Poppy suddenly linked her arm with mine, dragging me towards the dance floor. She leaned closer and whispered in my ear, "If you'll do good tonight. I might let you see another secret of mine." She smirked at me when I looked at her eyes wide and interest piqued.
"Anyway, Chloe will be coming any minute. I'll meet you later when the show is about to begin." She held my gaze for a second. I can't quite decipher the emotion that flashed in her eyes before she spoke again, "Don't disappoint me Farmsville." With that she left.
As Poppy and I separated ways, I struggled to cut through the sea of sweaty, overdressed rich kids. I halted in my steps when someone mentioned my name from behind, "I see you're already here Bea."
I turned around and came face to face with Chloe. Her face was stoic, an eyebrow raised as her eyes wandered on my dress, "At least you've definitely learn some wardrobe upgrade."
"Oh good you're finally here," I sighed. "You ready for later?"
"If you meant proving to Poppy my sincerity, then yes."
 "I'm sensing a but here."
She sighed, "I guess I just... feel a little uncomfortable with the idea of being humiliated."
I gave her a small smile, "Hey that's completely normal," Sighing I continued, "I just wished you don't have to go through what will happen later."
She looked me in the eyes, curiosity flashing bright, "I am still confused as hell why Poppy is starting to talk with you like a normal person."
That made me laugh, "You see, I am confused as you are."
"But I am sure you're gaining something from this. I don't think you'll help her if you're not getting something from this." She stated accusingly.
"Are you being friends with her because you're getting something from her?" I bit back with another question.
She scoffed then glared at me, "Excuse me. That's offensive as hell."
"I know you have a reason for accusing me, but believe me I felt offended with what you said too."
Her eyebrow raised, "So you're helping her?"
"Cause I want to. I don't need anything from her in return. I just..." I sighed, fingers weaving through my hair. I looked at her dead in the eyes, "I just want to get to know her more Chloe."
Chloe gasped, "Shit are you saying?" My words finally clicking in her mind.
I laughed dryly, "I do like her."
Chloe gaped at me, like a fish out of the water her mouth kept opening and closing. If what we're talking about wasn't serious I'd probably be laughing, but my heart was about to burst out of my chest. Before our conversation can even continue the music stopped abruptly. There was a feedback in the front. I whipped my head and spot Bradley holding a mic and already standing on stage.
"Can I have everyone's attention I have something important to say," Bradley started.
I looked back at Chloe a small smile on my lips encouraging her, "It's time Chloe."
She exhaled loudly, "Right, I guess I'll keep you on my watch list from now on. Let's see how real you meant those words Farmsville." After that she walked up on stage as Bradley asked her to come up.
I just smiled at Chloe. There was nothing to prove really. I was confident my actions were loud enough for them to see the truth.
Just then Poppy walked up to me, and faced me, "Let's see what you've got Farmsville."
As our eyes locked my turn to feed Bradley with words came. I was once again drowning in the depths of Poppy's brown eyes. A million of emotions to discover from those eyes, but I got a feeling that she was expecting something from me at that moment. I gulped the growing lump in my throat. Trusting my heart with the words I was about to say - hoping it would reach her.
"She's got an amazing way with words," My hands acted like they had a mind of their own, searching for Poppy's and intertwining our hands once I found them. The softness and warmth of her hands left a fluttering of feeling in every fiber of my body. "I can't help not to look forward every time we get to talk to each other. Her words, her voice it's like a drug that I'm starting to get addicted to."
Her brown eyes bore deep in mine searching, "She's also compassionate. She has this glow that shines whenever she goes, "I squeezed her hands gently before whispering making sure it was only her who would hear me, "And I think I'm attracted to that like a moth towards a flame." Her eyes widened for a second before I continued more loudly this time for Bradley to hear, "The people in her life got to be so lucky. Imagine having her support and her presence in my life." I sighed, eyes boring deep into hers.
Bradley continued until the big reveal which Chloe will tell she knew Bradley was only talking about Poppy. Everything started buzzing around us as the chaotic and messy scene unfolded. People eating up what was happening on stage. While all of their eyes were on Bradley and Chloe, I felt how Poppy and I got lost in this moment. My heart was still buzzing with the words I poured out. Did my heart reach hers? Her brown eyes gleamed more softly now. I felt her squeezing my hands and a soft smile on her lips. Here she goes again, making me feel like we're invisible and the world didn't mattered at the moment.
The buzzing of our phones interrupted us and bringing us back to reality. She withdrew her hands on mine to check on her phone. She was back on the number one spot while I ranked up to number nine.
She looked up at me from her phone a grin spreading on her lips, "You did great Farmsville," She paused and I wait with bated breath as she continued, "Maybe even I felt the words you said."
I smirked at her playfully, happiness surging to my heart. It reached her. "What do you have in mind?"
"First, dance with me?" I gulped noticing the flirty tone in her voice and the way her smirk played on her lips.
She didn't even wait for my response before grabbing my hand and leading me to the dance floor. She wrapped her arms around my neck beaming. I smirked as I encircled my arms around her waist. We moved to the beat. This close her warmth consumed me, and her perfume intoxicated my senses. She leaned closer, whispering her breath tickling closely on my jaw, "Don't repeat this to anyone Farmsville, but... I needed you tonight."
When she leaned back I smirked at her, "Sounds to me like you want me too. Be honest. Was this whole plan an elaborate ruse to get me on the dance floor?"
Poppy spin around and pressed against me, grinding her hips slowly and laughing. My mouth dried at her sudden movement. I felt my hands trembling as I lay it on her hips.
She whispered throatily, "Maybe I just wanted to see you dressed like that tonight Bea."
I gulped the lump in my throat as I whispered back, my breath tickling her ear, "You could've just told me from the start Poppy."
Poppy shivered. She turned around to face me again a smirked ghosting on her lips and a blush creeping on her cheeks, "What do you say we get out of here and turn up the fun somewhere else? I'm in the mood for some girls’ night out."
I tried to keep my cool as I barely let out my words due to my excitement, "Poppy let's get out of here."
===
We arrived at her huge and luxurious bedroom in no time. I sat in her bed as she got some things from her bathroom. My leg started to jiggle restlessly. I think it was only starting to sunk into me that I was in Poppy's room. I tried to calm my beating heart. Thankfully she walked out of the bathroom, carrying face masks, serums, and other beauty products.
"So what's our agenda for spa night? We can't possibly do all of that." I asked eyeing the beauty products.
"Of course not. I just got a shipment of beauty products from my cousin in Korea, and I'm dying to try them." She smiled before straddling me. My eyes grew wide as saucers, and my heart about to burst out from my chest. I can feel my blood rushing to my face, probably making me look like red as tomato.
Poppy had the audacity to smirk, as if she knew what she was doing to my mind and body.
"Sit still while I wiped your make up off," Poppy run a cool, fresh-smelling makeup wipe over my face, surprisingly gentle. It started to calm my nerves too.
Sighing I teased, "You might make a good aesthetician." I giggled.
"Oh shut up," but there was still a smile on her face. "I'm starting with a hyaluronic acid serum. Let me know if it burns."
Completely forgetting why I was giggling in the first place I panic that whatever she was about to put in my face might burn, "W-wait--"
She ignored my protest and dabbed a little dollop of cold goo on my cheeks. I wince closing my eyes tight, but nothing happened.
I sighed in relief after, "Oh. This actually feels good. A little cold maybe, but kinda... soothing."
"Then it's a keeper. It should help with those dark circles under your eyes, you're welcome. Honestly, I've been looking for someone to test these products for a week now, but I haven't found someone suitable."
"Sounds like you need real friends." I said looking up and meeting her eyes.
"Don't get sentimental with me now Farmsville. I have a ton of followers and that's the closest to friends I have in my books."
"Didn't you hear what I said? Real friends, not just some acquaintances nor followers."
"Are you going to deep talk to me again just like that time in the pool?" She asked probably pertaining when I persuaded her about talking to Chloe.
I huffed out a laugh, "Maybe. I, for one thinks that Chloe and Veronica are one of your realest friends though. Am I right or am I right?"
Poppy rolled her eyes, "What are you trying to get from me here?"
"Relationships always works when both parties makes an effort. I'm just making sure you're not taking things for granted Poppy." I paused checking her reaction. She only raised an eyebrow waiting for me to continue, "Look I'll be honest. I wasn't a fan of humiliating Chloe a while ago even though she agreed to it. Have you ever tried to asked if she was one hundred percent comfortable with your plan?"
To my surprise she didn't talk back instead she answered me softly, "No..."
"Why don't you try to communicate with them more Pops? I am sure they are also a keeper." I smiled softly at her.
Poppy sighed, "I hate how you can see through me sometimes." Our beauty product testing was forgotten, as she shifted on my lap looking like a lost puppy as she locked gazed with me.
I chuckled with my heart drumming so wild in my rib cage. I reached out tucking a strand of hair behind her ear, "What's on your mind?"
"You," She answered immediately catching me off guard and knocking out the wind out of me.
 "W-what?" I stuttered.
She gulped, "I'm just... not used to this Bea."
I raised my eyebrow just waiting for her to continue.
"Since I was a kid I was so used to be Poppy Min-Sinclair. Name it whether it was with my friends, teachers, followers specially with my parents there was no room for only Poppy, so when you told me at that Alpha's party that you'll be friends with me, with just me being myself, being Poppy I--" She paused eyes boring deeper through mine. I saw it and my heart felt it. Her mask cracking piece by piece as I sat here stunned in silence as she let me see the real her.
From that moment I let my heart spoke more - cupping her face, I smiled at her softly, "And I still stand by that."
"How can you even just want me without... without my stupid surname that defined my whole life?"
My heart was screaming so loud for her name. My heart ached with her as I dove deep in the see of her brown eyes, "Poppy I care for you," I caressed her cheeks, "And you don't know how much I cherish you. Your bravery to tell me this," I closed the distance between us nuzzling my nose on her cheeks, "Your genuine honesty right now. What more can I ask for? That is enough for me." I withdrew and look her dead in the eyes, "God, do you know how breath taking you are? I just need you to be you because that alone makes me feel like I'm the luckiest person right now."
 "Bea..." She bit her lips.
 "Yeah?" I whispered softly.
 "Can I kiss you?"
Poppy always tend to do whatever she wanted. I was so used of her just doing anything she pleased, not minding if she might hurt people or make them uncomfortable - but as she asked for my permission and was actually waiting for my response I felt my heart melt into a puddle.
"Poppy..." I whispered her name, my heart was on my throat and the butterflies in my tummy went wild as I leaned forward. She met me half way. The softness and warmth of her lips engulfed me. Her lips moved. As she opened her mouth I felt her tongue teasing my bottom lip. I welcomed hers, letting her explore mine. Her arms encircled around my shoulders pulling me closer. I sighed on her lips feeling her body so close to mine. Her scent, her taste and her warmth all of it sending my heart into an overdrive. I pulled back first, as my lungs screamed for air. Her eyes fluttered open, brown gentle eyes bore into mine.
Her hands cupped my face, caressing my cheeks. Her eyes wandered on my face like engraving it into her memory, like seeing me - really seeing me for the first time, "You're gorgeous Bea." She whispered hoarsely.
I pulled her closer by her waist, "And you’re not so bad yourself." She smirked at me when her eyes met mine.
I caressed her waist as I meet her lips once again. Our kissed became more passionate as each seconds passed. She ignited a fire in me. I groaned when she peppered kisses on my neck towards my ear, "Bea..." She moaned, and like a switch something turned in me.
"Poppy you're killing me," I groaned.
She chuckled breathlessly on my ear. When she pulled back her brown eyes darkened, "Bea I need you."
My breath hitched, "Are you sure?"
Her eyes softened, a warm smile painted on her lips, "Yes, but only if you want me too."
"God, of course. I want you Poppy." I growled my last sentence.
I can feel her nails grazing my nape, "Bea, please..." She started grinding her hips on mine. Our lips met again. I felt her hunger as her lips left me bruised.
She teasingly bit my lower lip before letting my lips go, "Take me out of these clothes." She whimpered, breath tickling my lips. I obeyed immediately easing her out off her clothes.
I gaped at her my eyes raking over her, "Damn... you're stunning."
She stood up smirking at me before her eyes landed over me, "As much as I love seeing you in that," She held my hand pulling me up, "I need you to take that off."
I smirked, "Bossing me around even in bed huh?" I lifted my dress out of my body.
She grinned at me as she stepped closer. Her hand plucked playfully on my body chain, "I can't believe you're hiding this body."
I chuckled, "We have all night Poppy." I whispered on her lips.
"Where do you want me Bea?" She looked up.
I wrapped my arms around her waist, "Let me kiss you first." I murmured before capturing her lips. I let her enjoy my kisses before I teasingly pulled away. She huffed and pouted. I chuckled, eyes gleaming as I pushed her on the bed. I crawled on top of her. She encircled her arms around my shoulder pulling me closer as our lips met again.
I felt Poppy's hands everywhere on my body - caressing, grazing and squeezing every part of me she can reach. Her warmth was a constant reminder that this was real and her scent intoxicating my mind made me feel like it was just a fever dream, all at the same time. I trusted my body to move above her as I aligned our bodies. She gasped when my lower region touched hers.
"Bea..." She breathlessly whispered eyes dilated.
I peppered kisses on her leg that was lying on my shoulder. Her breath quickened. I felt her hand again. Searching and crawling from my stomach to my chest to my face - caressing and kneading.
Our bodies danced in sync to our own music in this bed. She met my every moved which made me groan, "Poppy..."
Our eyes locked - the intensity sending me waves of euphoria. Her breath hitched again, mouth open wide. Her voice lost into the waves of emotions I carved into her body.
"Bea. Bea. BEA." She chanted my name like a prayer as her body reached her peak.
I groaned as I feel her coming and sending me to my own peak. I bit her shoulders to muffle my scream. She groaned, yet I felt her fingers weaving through my brunette hair as I rode my orgasm.
I slumped on top of her, my face nuzzling on her neck. She continued to caress my back soothingly as we both regained our breaths.
After a while I heard her hoarse voice, "You were amazing Bea."
My chuckle came out muffled on her shoulder, "Another compliment from Poppy Min-Sinclair?"
I can hear the smile in her voice when she said, "No, just a compliment from me, Poppy."
I smiled planting a kiss on her neck, "Well I like both as long as it's from you."
I felt her arms wrapped around me hugging me. Silence engulfed us again. I sighed as I withdrew from the hug.
"As much as I love staying here I think it's time for me to go home. It's getting late."
She watched me as I stood up and get dressed. I was fixing my hair in front of her vanity mirror when she walked behind me, wearing a robe already and hugged me from behind. She nuzzled her face on my back. After I was finished making sure I don't look as messy as I was a few minutes ago I turned around to face Poppy.
She had a soft smile on her lips. Tip-toeing she leaned up and I met her half way into a kiss.
"Good Night Poppy." I whispered on her lips as I pulled back.
"Good Night to you too," She paused smirking, "Bea."
When I got home to my dorm, the lights were already out. Zoey was probably asleep already. It felt like I was riding on a cloud nine as I walked home tonight. Going to that club tonight I was trying not to expect too much, so going home knowing Poppy trusted me enough tonight. My heart felt so full, my soul soaring and my mind filled with thoughts of Poppy's kisses and... screams. I felt a smirk ghosting on my lips as I let myself reminisce what unfolded tonight.
As I got into my room I received a notification from the The T. My heart dropped to my stomach as I watched a hog calling video of mine back when I was in my parent's farm. The color on my face drained. I felt like my soul left my body and my strength gone in just a blink of an eye. I weakly sat on the foot of my bed, tears were already threatening to spill as I read the comments under the post.
It was mentioned in the post that it was sent by an anonymous, but my mind rushed into a one single name - Poppy? Like a glass - my trust and my heart came crushing from the cloud nine as I felt the weight of my conclusion.

Sixty Eight. Part 3
Tumblr media
Honestly it’s annoyed me that my brother did and said what he said about me to my mother like, he knows what she is like and how she reacts about being a good wife “don’t take it out on your brother” it’s always the boys “I’m not but you’re making out I am bullying my husband when I’m not, he would say I am if I was” Chris snorted laughing “and Robbie I said jokes can hurt sometimes, he is your husband so he is priority. You’re being very hormonal baby” I huffed out “I give up” they really think I bully Chris “I must admit she can be very violent, it’s that Bajan blood” looking at Chris frowning “you need to stop right there, I mean it. Don’t let this ugly ass man make you think you can join him because you will be sleeping in the spare room” Chris gasped “Robbie, it’s his birthday. Be kind” I think my mother is annoying me the most “just nobody speak to me please, I’m done” I can’t deal to hear anymore bullshit from any of these people, like why are they making out I am mean to my husband unless this is a ploy to annoy me, maybe I am being hormonal but I am not mean to him I just playfully annoy him and I like to do it because it’s so easy to do but my family like to make out I am bullying him “don’t speak” I pointed at Rorrey, I knew he was going to try and say something “I can’t even laugh, you’re miserable” getting up from the seat “I am cleaning” I rather clean then sit with these idiots that think I am being mean when I’m not “I will help you” Mel also got up, picking my plate up and walked around the table “relax baby” Mel said to me as I placed the plate in the sink “I am but Rorrey is actually riling mom up to say that in front of Chris making it seem like I am, I am not incapable of supporting my man and knowing when to not tease him” I said in a whisper “I don’t think they meant it, just relax” I am being very hormonal but I find it annoying, it’s my marriage.
I just finished cleaning with Mel, my mother made a lot of mess in the kitchen “ayo, how you get my high school picture in that jersey. I have gone taller too, that is dope” smiling at him “can I speak to Robyn for a moment please Mel” drying my hands off “sure birthday boy, also I need to find why Noella ain’t give you the present” Mel hit his arm “one of twenty six punches” Chris laughed rubbing his arm “mean as hell” watching him walk over to me “you like it? I think you look extra cute in the high school picture, imagine a daughter with long hair looking like you, actually no. That’s not cute” Chris laughed out “I would feel sorry for her if she did when she got a beautiful mom like you, you good?” Chris sat atop of the kitchen counter “what makes you think I’m not? I don’t want her to feel like she has to be like me, I really hope we never get that issue because it would hurt me. I don’t want that for my daughter” walking over to Chris “just seemed very annoyed at your family, you know they are joking with you. You not been doing anything to upset me at all” standing between Chris’ legs “just my family is annoying me and on top of that I am very hormonal and feeling sensitive about things, are you happy?” Chris gasped “happy!? I got a Rolex, and I am sitting in a Versace robe, I am over the moon. Thank you so much and your kind words to me, I don’t deserve it and I feel like you’re feeling a little emotional about things, I feel it, with the messages and everything. I know you, just don’t worry about it. You done a lot for me and I appreciate you” he wrapped his arms around me “thank you Poppa” I adore him a lot “hey Chris, JC is here” Chris looked behind him and at my brother “really? Why?” He questioned “I booked him for you, go and get a cut” moving back “oh wow, ok. Thank you” he is so oblivious about everything and it’s cute.
Yusuf is here and Mylah is also to dress me the hell up, I need to look good for my man’ birthday now “you are pregnant, like wow! It’s been a while, oh my god” Yusuf hugged me “like you really pregnant baby, you are glowing” I laughed out, he is having a meltdown seeing me this pregnant “be quiet and coming up the stairs, is Mel here with my dress and his suit?” He is nowhere to be found “knowing him he’s probably dressing up himself oh my god, my queen you look so good” holding Yusuf’ hand as we went up the steps “ayo Robyn” looking down at Chris “yeah?” He looks so handsome with his new cut “just want to say thank you, you keep surprising me even more. So thank you” I cooed out “it’s ok baby, I am going upstairs now” how adorable is he “your man is a cutie, happy birthday Chris. Can’t wait to dance with you tonight” elbowing Yusuf “hey!” He spat “thanks man” he’s so slow “you are so lucky he didn’t” mean mugging Yusuf “wait, he doesn’t know l... ?” Shaking my head “no he doesn’t know yet” I whispered “you are lucky he is not paying attention to it; he thinks we are going to a meal together and he’s paying” I laughed “he’s very cute you know; I mean bless his heart he came to say that to you. Awww baby” Yusuf cooed out.
It’s been a while since I have been dressed up like this and I am excited to say the least, someone to just do the dressing up for me instead of me doing my own makeup “doesn’t he think why everyone is here and why we came? Like deadass?” Yusuf is confused “well with what went on I stopped speaking about his birthday, I just altogether stopped caring and I just didn’t want to know because I was hurt. So to him he thinks he’s getting nothing but a meal, but I kept everything the same. I wanted to spoil him and he never did cheat on me, imagine if I just thought fuck it let me treat you like shit for something you never did, that would generally hurt him because he did nothing wrong. Privately I of course did what I needed but I kept it as that” Yusuf nodded his head “he seems like not the type so when I was reading I was like, nobody cheats on my sis” the bedroom door opened “oh, I came to get changed” Chris has clearly had enough of his robe “wait a little more, your outfit will be here” Chris nodded his head looking at me weirdly “you really getting ready for this meal huh” I smirked “I want to look nice for once, why not. Are you having fun?” I don’t want him to be sad now “yeah of course, I’m gonna be in the games room” he walked out, I’m glad I have a husband that can be a little slow “he’s cute, I’m gonna keep saying this” I giggled to myself.
Mel tied up my heels, he didn’t want me to bend over and do it which is sweet of him. I may regret putting these heels on but whatever, it goes with the outfit, but my feet will suffer and I am taking my slides with me just for later “you look so good Robyn” Mel got up from the floor, moving back from me “so beautiful, I saw this silk black dress and I was like Robyn will look perfect in it, your boobs have grown but it’s fine, beautiful. For your man’ birthday, I was speaking to Chris actually, he was so confused and said why am I wearing a suit, I said because I felt cute” I chuckled “he is not clicking on at all, he assumes we are having a meal, a real nice one too” Mel laughed shaking his head “he is so funny but come, let’s go down. A lot of the family have already left, let’s help you down” I feel so cute “does my butt look big” walking out of the bedroom “of course it does, but who cares. You flaunt that” he pointed at me as he walked towards the stairs “let’s be careful down these, I got you” smiling lightly at him, I hope Chris likes my dress. Holding onto the side, Mel took my bag from me and then I held onto his arm, slowly making my way down the steps “wow, it feels like I am meeting my wife all over again. Wow! Look at her” Chris cooed over him, his eyes lit up and smiled so wide “you look amazing twin, oh wow” I am getting shy now.
Me and my husband look so good, we look so fly and I am proud of how good we look, Chris thinking we are still going to a meal is making me laugh “how amazing is my Rolex though? Not as amazing as you my love” I cooed out “thank you Chris, you’re always there making me feel so special and so confident, thank you” Chris smiled at me “like you are getting me these things are just amazing, I didn’t expect it because like I wasn’t good to you, I didn’t call you and stuff, so I deserved it. Thank you, like with everything” he’s so thankful “don’t be, today is your day so stop saying thank you. I just want to see you smile and have fun, that’s what we are doing, that’s what you deserve and that’s what I want for you ok?” I love him so much “I’m hungry as hell actually, I can’t wait to eat” come to think of it that means he will be drinking on an empty stomach which doesn’t bother me actually because, it’s his day and if he wants to spend the next day drunk he can, I will let him have that fun today.
The driver stopped outside Poppy Nightclub “Giorgio Baldi?” Chris questioned “you know me so well but I wanted to spice it up, just thought I would you know have it here, a meal that is” Chris looks so confused, he is very confused “they do food in a club?” Rich opened the door for me, I also got Dennis to take pictures today. The full works I got it for him, I told them that I am coming so keep it quiet “it’s quiet isn’t it” I know Chris is not that stupid, maybe he is because he knows I wouldn’t lie to him which I am today “because I wanted it like this” Dennis is here bless him “Rich you looking handsome for my birthday, I appreciate it” Rich just side eyed him, Dennis continued to take pictures of Chris and I “shall we go inside then” I gestured “yeah, man I am hungry” nodding my head “ok go in then, be the man” Chris started to walk and then he stopped “are you lying to me?” he turned to look at me “about what part? Why would I lie? For what? Just go” maybe he is clicking on now, Dennis rushed by us to go inside, Rich held the door as we walked into the place which is pretty quiet the way I wanted it. Chris seems so reluctant to go further inside he seems to be walking so slow, he finally went by the board “allow me to introduce, his name Christopher Maurice Brown used to move snowflakes back in VA. Happy Birthday Chris, it’s big pimpin baby” Jay Z said on the mic as Big Pimpin started playing, I wish I walked ahead of him now. Chris froze in shock seeing the place just filled, I mean I was going to use my contacts, Jay didn’t say no “no way!” Chris spat, he turned to me in utter shock “Happy Birthday, I lied” I laughed saying “you got my dad in a club, oh my god!” I got him good, I am so proud of me.
Mel shimmied herself over to me “we be big pimping, spending cheese!” she sang to me “aye, aye. This is so fucking lit, like I am speechless. See me? His face was shocked, like he just peed himself. You should be proud of yourself” I grinned “I am, now I can relax. My feet are killing me already” looking over at Chris, he is busy just saying his hi to everyone. I invited everyone I could get for him everyone that knows him and then I did as Jay, he said yes so here we are. I will be taking these heels off actually “he looks handsome” my mom pointed at Chris, I grinned “he does” sitting down on the chair “already?” Mel said looking “yes, I have too. Even though these heels make me look even better but I can’t right now, the extra weight is a no” Mel crouched down “let me do it for you” looking up at my mom “I am going to say hi to him” nodding my head, this is going to be long night for me because I love my sleep more then ever, I have to make it through the night but Rorrey can deal with him drunk because I can’t do it.

Anyway, the muses finally spoke to me and I've been wanting to do a 5+1 for a while now and the right idea came to me. And while this may be a little late it's also my Broppy Day submission. Although when you ship Broppy, everyday is Broppy Day XD
So without future ado, enjoy!

1.
This was it. This was the night Branch Hawthorn was finally going to propose to his girlfriend of two years, Poppy Meadows. Everything was going to plan and for that Branch was grateful for as he was nervous enough as it was. Both he and Poppy had been able to leave their respective works early to get ready, although Poppy just believed tonight was a fairly normal date night. Then, looking their best and with clear starry night above them, they gotten to Trollington's best restaurant, Chez L'amour, with minimal traffic interference and their reservation had not been lost or given away, things Branch had worried about. Now, with their belly's full of warm delicious food and wine -though Poppy was always quick to assure Branch his cooking was still her very favorite- and dessert on the horizon, Branch was ready to take the plunge.
The mood was perfect, candlelight gleamed and a soft melody was echoing around them and Poppy was looking so beautiful with her bright pink hair pulled up with some strands framing her heart-shaped face and her freckles lit up by the flickering candles and her own bright smile. And her eyes, those beautiful, amber eyes that he just loved to get lost in, were shining with warmth and love just for him. And that was something he still couldn't get over, after all those years of pining and yet so sure he didn't deserve her, he had gotten the girl of his dreams and she loved him. And he hoped she accepted what he was about to ask.
Reaching out across the table, Branch took her hand in his as he returned her smile and hoped the nervousness he felt wasn't obvious. He must have been doing a good job of hiding it so far but he didn't want her to notice now before he had a chance to ask. And maybe it was a little cliché to ask in a romantic restaurant setting but he had spent weeks thinking about this and building up his confidence and he wasn't about to chicken out now. Given her hand a squeeze, he took a sip of his water to wet his throat before speaking, “Enjoy your dinner?” Start small, don't jump into it. All part of the plan.
His gorgeous pinkette grinned and nodded, “Yup! And I can't wait for dessert! I have been dreaming about their triple layer strawberry chiffon cake all week!” She took a sip of her wine before returning his squeeze of their hands before a playful smirk overcame her face and she cupped her chin in her head as she leaned over the table, “You know...You never did tell me why you decided this would be our date destination~ What made you choose the fancy place?”
Branch chuckled and hoped it sounded normal, it sounded off to him, but he simple shrugged and tried not to look away from those wonderful and curious eyes, “What? Can't a boyfriend treat his girlfriend to a fancy dinner once in a while? Plus I know how much you love to dress up, thought it be nice.” And he had a small square box burning a hole in his pocket, just waiting to be pulled out. Absolutely nothing unusual going on. Nope. “And have I mentioned just how beautiful you look tonight? Because you do, absolutely stunning~” He even raised her hand to his lips to kiss her knuckles softly to complete his statement.
“Stooop~” She giggled, that perfect sound the best kind of music to his ears as a light blush dusted her cheeks, “Keep talking like that and you might get lucky tonight~”
“I'm already lucky~” And he was. So, so lucky that this brilliantly bright and bubbly woman had not only healed his torn soul and made him want to live rather than just survive but had given her heart fully to him to hold and cherish. Something he did every day so thankfully and would hopefully get to do well into the future together with matching rings on their fingers. Taking what he hoped was a subtle deep breath, for this was it, he wouldn't get a better time to, Branch opened him mouth to begin his speech, something he had been working painstakingly on for months, pretty much since he decided he was going to propose, but was interrupted by the sound of applause.
He and Poppy, who took her hand back to turn around, looked at the reason for it at another table where another couple sat. A brunette man down on one knee was slipping a ring on the happily crying blonde woman's finger as the other patrons clapped for them. Poppy bounced in her seat, adding to the applause, cooing before she spun back around, “Isn't that sweet?! I'm so happy Oak finally proposed! Oh, Daffodil must be so happy! Isn't that great, Branch? Our friends are gonna get married!”
“Y-yeah..Super great.” Branch hoped beyond hope he wasn't being obvious on how he really felt. Of course! Of course the universe would do this to him! It was all going so well! But then of course something had to happen to ruin his plans! Yes, he could still ask Poppy. No, it wasn't Oak's fault for asking his own girlfriend just before he could but he didn't dare take the spotlight away from the other couple. Poppy was right, they were their friends, and while he was sure neither would mind it still felt wrong to Branch to ask Poppy now after somebody else had beaten him to the punch. Sighing, confidence now deflating as he slumped slightly in his chair, Branch decided he'd just have to try another time. It was fine. Completely fine! That decision made, not that it made him happy, the blue-haired survivalist resolved himself to finish off the rest of this night as best he could. Not that Poppy had any idea, she was far too excited to think anything was wrong with him as she pulled him over to congratulate their friends.
And maybe this was for the best, maybe his second attempt would go better?
2.
A few weeks later, some more planning, a few personal pep-talks and Branch was ready to try again. They were currently in her father's backyard, surrounded by all their closest friends, even Gristle and Bridget who managed to make it down from Bergenville, having a simple summer barbecue. Branch was manning the grill, keeping half an eye on the food and the other half on Poppy as she fluttered around their friends, having fun playing games and jamming out to the music Suki had brought along. And perhaps this would be a better proposal anyway. While Branch would have must prefer to propose in a more private setting, which made him wonder why he even thought of the restaurant version in the first place, Poppy would probably enjoy it more if it happened surrounded by the people she loved most. And she deserved everything that made her happy.
Adjusting a few hot dogs so they wouldn't burn, he closed the grill just as his barefooted beauty came skipping over, a cheery smile gracing her lips. Setting down his tongs, Branch easily and happily welcomed her into his arms as she wrapped hers around his neck and gave his nose a fond nuzzle, “Mmm~ Everything smells amazing! Can't wait to eat!”
Branch chuckled warmly, nuzzling her back as he rubbed circles with his thumbs over her hips, leaning closer to her, “Should be ready soon. I know everyone's getting hungry. But first...” He then closed the minimal gap between them, giving her a soft kiss that had her sighing and relaxing in his arms. Sharing a few more soft kisses, and ignoring the wolf whistles from Guy and Smidge, Branch subtly glanced at the grill and decided the food would be okay for a moment. Because he figured now was a good time to pop the question to the queen of his heart as he had her undivided attention. Subtly guiding her away from the barbecue, he distracted her with words and some more gentle meetings of their lips, “Having fun, I take it?”
She giggled, that wonderful, tinkling sound that always spread warmth through him and nodded, “You know it~! I'm so glad everyone was able to make it! It feels like forever since we last did something!” It really hadn't, the Snack Pack was still just as close as they'd always been but Poppy was always one for exaggerating when she could. And well...maybe it had been a few weeks since they'd gotten a chance to just relax and hang out without work or other engagements in the way.
Speaking of engagements....
Branch stopped the careful migration a few feet from the hot grill, in a good spot where everyone would be able to see what was about to happen and carefully nuzzled his and Poppy's noses together, hoping she couldn't feel the sudden rapid beating of his heart, “So I wanted to ask you something..”
“Hmm? Yeeess~?” She hummed, watching him with those sparkling eyes he really did drown in every time he looked into them.
“Well I-”
And for the second time his very important question was interrupted, this time by the back gate slamming open and a familiar voice shouting, “Sup, Losers!!! The party's just arrived!”
“Barb!!!” Poppy screeched happily, tearing herself away from Branch to run and jump into her cousins hold with a very enthusiastic hug. One the punk-rock queen caught easily before swinging the bubblegum princess around, laughing loudly.
“Sup, Popsqueak?! Came to see if I couldn't liven you and your sugary-sweet friends up a little!” The red-pink mo-hawked band leader said, finally putting the other woman down as her right-hand band mate and drummer came up beside her, in a much more subdued manner. “Yo! Boy-Toy! Add a few extra burgers cause I'm starvin'!”
“There's plenty!” Branch cried back as Poppy and the Pack swarmed Barb for greetings and playful jabs. He then sighed roughly, ran a hand through his hair and returned to make sure nothing had burned. It was fine. No big deal. There was still plenty of day left for him to try again. There was just an extra few people around to watch now. As he checked on the food on the grill, moving a few things around and taking the vegetable skewers off, Riff came over after getting his own excited hug from Poppy.
“Sup, man. Everything okay?”
“Yeah, yeah, everything's fine.” Okay, mostly fine. But having been around Poppy since they were kids, Branch knew to try to look for the silver living. He'd get another chance later that evening, he was sure. “Just weren't expecting you guys. Little surprised.” More like a little annoyed at the interruption but he'd get over it.
The dark hair drummer chuckled softly, “Yeah...but you know the boss lady. Loves to make a entrance. But hey! We brought beer!” He lifted up a large case of beer as a peace offering. Branch gestured to the cooler behind him, telling him to add some to it and thanked him, mind half on the cooking, half on thinking about when he'd get that second chance to talk to Poppy.
...Sadly for poor Branch, that chance never came.
Having spent the rest of his time at the grill, catching up with Riff, he had soon let everyone know food was ready and the group swarmed up for the delicious smelling entrees. Then as everyone are and laughed and enjoyed, Barb and Riff regaled everyone with tales of shenanigans and adventures of their world tour. Describing the pounding energy of their concert in Brazil to their little hot spring mishap in Japan after a show. Poppy was thoroughly entranced by her cousins tales and completely distracted from Branch's attempts to gain a little attention long enough for him to get the question burning in his throat out. Then of course the pop/rock duo started the karaoke with a bang, which as fun as it was, just distracted Poppy more and didn't give Branch a chance to regain any sort of romantic mood. By the time the sun was long set but the energy of everyone was still high, Branch had given up for the night. There was no way he going to propose tonight, especially after Barb convinced everyone to go clubbing.
They say third times the charm, right?
3.
A week and some brooding later and Branch was ready to start planning again. He needed to come up with a good one too this time, something where they'd be alone, without anyone around and where he'd have Poppy's undivided attention. However he, himself, was slightly distracted and prevented from doing any sort of real planning as he and Poppy were currently passing Saturday night as they were prone to do. Snuggled up on the couch, lights dimmed and watching movies. There was even a light pattering of rain outside to add the cozy atmosphere they found themselves in.
A Rom-com Poppy had been wanting to see was currently playing, the screen flickering image's by as the main character's flubbed another love confession and Poppy snuggled up close to his chest. Branch's head rested on the arm rest, arms wrapped snugly around his girlfriend, rubbing mindless shapes where his hands rested on her waist. He knew as soon as the movie was over they would probably have to move to bed, sleeping on the couch was not that comfortable nor good for them after all, but right now he was in no position to move either of them. Bending his neck, he buried his nose in her pink locks and inhaled the fresh strawberry scent of her favorite shampoo, nuzzling gently. That was when it hit him, they were alone, there was no one or anything to interrupt him and he'd have Poppy's full attention. Yes, his inner romantic cried at the lack of romance but he had learned from Poppy to take the opportunity when it was presented to you, not to shy away. So, taking a subtle breath to calm his suddenly beating heart, Branch got ready to take the plunge.
Starting simple, he murmured softly, “I love you~”
“Mmm~ Love you too~” The pinkette responded in a light and airy voice, settling as deep as she could into his embrace.
Taking a moment to rub her shoulder and place a gentle kiss on the top if her head, Branch began a speech that he'd crafted and re-crafted hundreds of times already it felt like and it never felt perfect. Hopefully though now, he'd find the right words. “I...can't tell you just how lucky I am to have you in my life. You are...the greatest thing to ever happen to me and I am so, so grateful you took the chance on this ragged, broken and gray soul and made life bright again. You...Heh, you are my sunshine, making my days brighter and fuller and more fun than ever before. And yeah, you're crazy with your scheme's and your scrapbooking and leaving glitter everywhere but I wouldn't trade that for the world. Bring on the cupcakes and rainbows because I'm ready...ready to spend the rest of my life with you beside me. Call me selfish but I...I don't ever want to go back to the dark and dull existence. I want you and your sunshine to wake up next to until we're old and bent over and you're still rocking that pink hair. Poppy...I love you so much and if you'll have me, it would make me the happiness man in the entire universe if you agreed to be mine forever. So...I ask you, Poppy Meadows, will...” Deep breath, “Will you marry me?”
There, he'd done it, he finally asked Poppy to marry him and now all that was left was for her to answer and then he could go get the ring from it's place and he could finally see it on her finger. But as the minutes ticked by and he got no answer, Branch was beginning to worry. Had he fucked up? Did he say something wrong? Did she not want to? Was she in shock? Was she trying to find a way to turn him down gently?! Trying not to panic, and failing just a bit, Branch carefully turned his head to look at the woman in his arms, “Poppy?”
And found she was asleep, breath's even and deep and completely dead to the world and the proposal he had just cited.
Biting back a silent groan, Branch tilted his head over the arm rest and stared at the ceiling. Of course, why wouldn't this happen?! The universe truly must hate him if it had allowed him to finally ask Poppy only for her to be asleep and having missed the entire thing. Great, just effing great, now he would have to get up the confidence to try again and after three failed attempts he was starting to think maybe he shouldn't. But, as the beautiful girl in arms would tell him, he needed to get back up again and not give up. And it said something about her impact on him when he knew after a little time moping about the newest failed attempt he would do just that.
Besides, he couldn't fail four times in a row, right?

Another few weeks later and Branch was in the midst of planning something the would surely be his best plan yet when Poppy had decided a spontaneous camping trip up in the mountains would be fun. Unable to deny her but secretly lamenting the lost chance of being able to ask her under the fireworks display that was happening that weekend, Branch had agreed. So they packed up the car and drove off for a weekend spent in nature. Which normally would have thrilled Branch but he was still sort of disappointed in the loss of another romantic plan.
However, even though she had no idea she had off railed another proposal attempt, Poppy still managed to cheer him up with her natural exuberance and joy. And the more he thought about, a proposal under the stars with nothing but the quiet sounds of nature around them would be better anyway. He wouldn't have to compete with the sounds of the fireworks and worry about whether Poppy would hear him correctly or not. Yeah, this would be far better and far more romantic. So by the time they reached the campsite, Branch was in a higher mood then when they left, plans already formed around what he'd cook and how he would go about creating the perfect mood.
Arriving at the campsite in the late evening, Branch decided he'd wait until the following night to enact his grand plan, he'd waited this long after all. So he and Poppy went about building their campsite, throwing up the tent and while she piled the sleeping bags, blankets and pillows they had brought into a proper nest, he went to find them some firewood. Soon they had a nice cozy fire to sit by and after a quick meal of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, they were cuddled up in Branch's chair, Poppy having abandoned hers in favor of his lap. And having his loving, cheerful, kind girlfriend snuggled up in his lap had almost made Branch abandon all plans and just propose right there, he stopped himself. Waiting one more day wouldn't kill him, plus Poppy was already half asleep and he didn't want a repeat of his attempt on the couch. So, picking her up and carting her off to get settled in the tent, he quickly doused the flames before joining her, falling asleep with her in his arms and images of tomorrow night dancing in his head.
Too bad he hadn't foreseen the incident that had occurred the next day.
After a morning spent cuddling, flirting and in all good mood, something Poppy made sure to tease him about saying she had been right that the trip would be a good thing, his pink whirlwind had suggested a little hike after lunch. The day was perfect for it, sunny, a little breezy with fluffy white clouds drifting by in the sky, so Branch had agreed. Never mind that he was looking forward to the evening once the stars came out. So packing up some water bottles, trail mix, a few energy bars and gummy candies, they had set off on the local hiking trail.
Poppy of course either filmed or took pictures of anything she saw that she liked, which was almost any flower or butterfly that passed by and Branch was content to just let her be herself, in far too good a mood to be his usual sarcastic self. Well, almost, he did try to act normal as to not tip Poppy off. But she had still noticed something and when she asked him what had in such a good mood, he simply replied with why wouldn't he be with her by his side? Which had earned him a giggle and few kisses as she called him a flirt. Which, really, he wasn't going to deny that because he was flirting, the thought of finally, finally asking her to marry him making him almost giddy. Yes, he was still nervous as hell but this was the forth time he was trying and he'd be damned if he was going to let that stop him again.
Eventually they had arrived on top of a cliff overlooking the forest, the sight rather breathtaking. After a moment of admiration, Poppy was back to taking pictures and talking about nice everything was and Branch nodded and smiled back at her but his mind was elsewhere. He couldn't help as he watched Poppy gush as she was prone to do but to imagine the future, with her walking down the aisle in a gorgeous dress made by the twins, veil fluttering behind her as all their friends and family watched. And then she'd step up to him and exchange vows before they were dubbed husband and wife and he just knew she'd jump into his arms for that kiss as everyone cheered for them. Of course that little daydream soon came to a bursting stop with the next following of events.
There had been a rustling of bushes and before they knew it a deer was jumping out and running off, making both of them jump. Poppy had let out a little squeak and unfortunately for Branch, as he jumped back shocked out of his fantasy, he had gone a little too far and part of the cliff broke from under him, making him off balance and tumbling down to a lower ledge.
“Braaaaanch!!!” Poppy's scream echoed in his ears as he groaned, trying to regain his bearings.
“Branch, are you alright?!” Poppy cried down at him, worry clear in her voice.
“Y-yeah..I'm fi-Aaagggh!!!” Branch groaned, barely having sat up before having to clutch at his arm. Carefully pushing himself up, he pulled his hand away to find it covered in blood and groaned again as he covered his wound back up to stem the bleeding. Great, just fucking great. He was injured. And all because of a stupid deer. At least Poppy was okay. Looking up to check on her, his vision swam briefly and another moan of pain escaped him. Great, he probably had a concussion too.
“Branch! Branch, are you okay?!” Poppy was asking again, having wiggled her way down the steep incline to kneel beside him. She made a noise of distress of seeing him hurt and carefully cupped his jaw in her hands, “Hey. Hey, what can I do to help? Are you hurt anywhere else?!”
“I-I don't...” He hissed as pain pulsed through him, “Don't think so...Might have a concussion though...” He cursed under his breath before telling her to look in his bag for bandages, taking that brief moment of distraction to pat the inside pocket of his vest to make sure the ring was still safe. Which it was, so at least there was that.
Poppy quickly dug into his backpack, finding his first aid kit and pulling out the gauze roll. “Can you move your hand?” She asked softly, cringing at the sight as he did so, “Oh dear...That-That looks really bad....” She sniffed and Branch was about to start comforting her, telling her it probably looked worse than it was but she began to carefully move his sleeve away, causing another hiss to escape him. “Sorry...” She mumbled, wrapping his arm as quickly and gently as she could, sniffing and blinking back tears.
“Hey...” He said, squinting at her because damn his head really hurt, “It's gonna be fine. Please don't cry, Sunshine..”
“I know, I know...I just....that was so scary.” She wiped at her eyes and sniffed again, making Branch want to hold her and comfort her until she calmed down but it hurt to move just about everything. So he did the only thing he could at the moment and carefully brushed his knuckle over her knee, murmuring it was going to okay.
It was about then that someone was calling down to them and they looked up to see a forest ranger had found them. After Poppy explained what happened and that they could use a little help, she quickly finished wrapping his arm up. The next series of events happened rather quickly, at least they did for Branch who's consciousness was starting to go in and out a little and he struggled to stay awake. The ranger had help them off the ledge before helping Poppy carry him back to their camp, where she quickly began to pack everything up. The ranger assured her that he'd keep anything that was left behind and they could come get it later and that getting Branch to a hospital was most important. So then began Poppy's slightly frantic drive to the nearest hospital as Branch had continued his battle with staying awake.
In the end, everything was indeed alright. Branch had to have a good fifteen stitches in his arm and had to stay over night for observation because of the concussion but other than a few other scrapes and bruises, he was fine. But the incident had once again derailed any proposal plans that once he was patched up and allowed a moment alone, Branch had cursed the universe for. Couldn't he have one attempt not go awry?! Yes, sure, there had been other times he could have asked but damn it all, he wanted to do it right! He wanted a romantic scene to ask the love of his life to be his wife and not have it be an off hand mention or after a serious injury!! Was that too much to ask for?! Apparently it was.
So, slumping back into his pillows, Branch stewed and cursed the universe. And eventually started planning attempt number five.
And it had to work, it just had too!
5.
Once it was apparent that Branch was fully healed and recovered about a month later, Poppy suggested another weekend trip to celebrate, though this time it was to the beach. Branch wasn't completely set on the idea, worries of how another proposal attempt could be ruined swarming his head, but once again he really couldn't deny Poppy anything. And she was so excited to go see the sea and enjoy the scenery, ever after he pointed out that the weather wouldn't really be right for any swimming. But ever the optimist, Poppy had said there was lots more to do than just swim and so they made reservations at a hotel and went off for a weekend by the sea.
And as he predicted, the weather had been on the cooler side and slightly overcast but that hadn't stopped Poppy from convincing him to travel around all the shops the little ocean town had to offer. And he had to admit, once again, that she was right. It hadn't been all bad walking along the boardwalk and stopping by whatever little shop or stand caught her attention. Plus her excitement was so genuine and true, Branch couldn't help but eventually relax and have fun too. So they spent the afternoon slipping in and out of various stores, some with pointless, cute nick-knacks, some with clothes and accessories that he and Poppy threw on for selfies or she modeled for him, other with oddities such as seaside myths. They had enjoyed some sea-salt ice-cream at some point before dipping into a little hidden book store and then they stopped for a dinner of fish and chips.
Now they were walking down the beach, hand in hand with Poppy happily swinging their arms between them as the sun sank slowly over the horizon. And Branch had to admit, now would be a pretty good time to try again. They were alone, the few other people on the beach far enough way that they wouldn't somehow get in the way, the setting was calm and relaxing with the sounds of waves gently lapping at the shore as the setting sun painting the sky beautiful pinks and oranges, and Poppy was none the wiser to burning the question that had been lodged in his throat for months now. And nothing was going to stop him now. So, stopping and playfully swinging her around so he could pull her into an embrace, Branch pulled her close for a soft kiss.
When they parted, Poppy giggling lightly as her eyes shone with love, Branch calmly stated, “I love you~”
“Heehee~ I love you too~” Poppy giggled, leaning in for another kiss that Branch was happy to return before the slowly parted once more.
“So there's...something I wanna say...” And ask but he didn't want to give it away just yet. And boy did he hope she didn't notice how his heart had started pumping in his chest. This was it, he finally going to ask Poppy to spend the rest of their lives together and even though this was his fifth attempt, the nerves had returned like it was that first try again.
“I'm all ears, My man~” The pinkette said with a grin, nuzzling her nose against his as she settled her arms around his neck.
Deep breath and ignore the flush that came anytime she called him 'her man', “Well...you see..” Please don't let her notice just how stuttering he was becoming, “You are...the greatest gift I could ask for and I-” And before any more could be said a loud, long horn of a boat sounded, causing both to jump and to look toward the ocean where in the distance a ship could be seen. Huffing, and not about to let one measly horn blast stop him, not this time, Branch tried to continue as Poppy giggled lightly, “Right. As I was saying...” Another deep breath, he could do this, “I love you so much and-” Another three blasts of the horn stopped him again and he glared at the ship as Poppy started to laugh quietly. “Anyway. What I'm trying to say, Poppy, is-” And another long, drawn out horn had him groaning before calling out toward the sea, “Oh come on!!!”
Poppy was now full on laughing, laying her head on his chest as he stewed about the stupid boat, before getting a slight grip on herself. Reaching up, she cupped his face and ran her thumbs over his cheeks, “Branch. Hee~ Branch, it's okay! Let me guess, you have a new poem for me?”
He did but that wasn't what he had been about to say. Still he grumbled, looking off to the side, “Maybe...” He also had a proposal he just couldn't seem to get out before something went wrong.
“Then...~” Poppy started, bringing his face back towards her so she could nuzzle their noses together again, “Why don't we go back to our hotel so you can tell it to me where we won't be interrupted? And then you can tell me all my favorites as you...do other things to me~” She then sealed her offer with a deep kiss. One Branch sank into with a sigh but not without lamenting silently the derailment of yet another proposal. Sure, he supposed he could always try again later that night but something in his gut told him it wouldn't be the right time. He just wanted to propose to Poppy in a romantic setting without anything stopping him! Was that too much to ask for?! Apparently...
“Come on,” Poppy murmured, eyes glazed with want as she pulled away, “We can go take a nice warm bubble bath as you recite your newest piece to me~”
Branch hummed and let her take the lead back to their hotel, still brooding over his latest failure. This was five times now he had been stopped and it was starting to wear down his confidence that he'd ever be able to ask her. Which meant it was probably time to ask for help from her dad and possibly Suki and Smidge if he actually wanted to succeed. Sighing quietly to himself, he squeezed Poppy's hand and hoped that the next attempt would finally be the one.
He could only hope, right?
+1.
Poppy hummed a joyful tune as she walked down the hallway to her apartment, another day of party planning behind her. She still couldn't believe some days that she got to do one of the things she loved most for a living! And she was her own boss! Well...sort of...Sky Toronto was still sort of her boss, sort of her partner but that didn't matter! She got to help people plan out their very best parties! And it was soooo satisfying! Especially after long days like today when her clients had a specific vision they wanted done. Which was fine because everyone deserved to have whatever they wanted to be happy with the party they were throwing but boooy, did it tired her out! But that was fine too because she was now home where her wonderful boyfriend hopefully had dinner waiting for them.
Coming up to their door, and smiling as she always did when she caught sight of their door plaque she'd made, she opened it up, singing proudly, “I'm hooooome~!” Before a fantastically delicious scent hit her nose and she groaned. “Ooooh my goooosh~!” She quickly dropped her purse and came around to the kitchen as her stomach gave a rumble, “That smells amazing! Did you make enchiladas?!”
Branch chuckled, that warm, fond sound that always melted her insides a little as he finished pulling the dish out of the oven, “I did. I even made them...chicken enchiladas like you said you wanted.”
“Yeeeessss~!” Poppy hissed happily, “Yes, yes, yes! I am starving!” She excitedly through her arms around him once his hands were free in a tight hug, “You are the best boyfriend ever!” After pulling him down for a quick, grateful kiss, the pinkette pulled away for a little happy dance. “Oooh, I can't wait to dig in! What else did you make?!”
Another one of those warm, fond chuckles came from the blue-haired hottie she had a claim on and he gestured to the stove, “Some Mexican Rice and..” He led her gaze to the table where some different dips and chips sat, “Some sides.”
“Aaaah~! Yes! Your guacamole is the best!!!” Poppy scurried over and took a chip full of green dip, humming in delight at the tangy taste and did another little happy dance as she stuffed another chip into her mouth. “Gosh! D'ish ish shooo goood~!”
“Do you maybe want a plate full or do you wanna continue dancing in place as you eat over the table?” Branch asked, amusement ringing through his tone.
“Oh, haha!” Poppy responded, hands on her hips, “I can't help it! I told you I am staving! Mrs. Sparks ran me all over town looking for just the right party venue and I barely had time to eat lunch. But I did!” She added quickly knowing he would scold her for not eating lunch. “Anyway, once we finally found the right place, I started throwing out ideas for decorations and food and I think we've got a nice solid base now!”
“Sounds like you a had a busy day.” He grinned as she nodded, stuffing another chip into her mouth, “Also sounds like you might need a margarita.”
“You made margaritas?!” Poppy cried, excitedly, looking at him with wide, happy eyes. Oh, she officially loved this man!!! “Can we have them blended?!” She asked, bouncing happily when he nodded and turned to get the pitcher out of the fridge, telling her to get the blender out. “Yeessss~!” She cheered, already halfway to the cabinet to pull out of the appliance. As she set it out on the counter and watched him place the pitcher on the table before getting in the freezer for ice, the thought that this was her life, that she had such a wonderful, thoughtful and sweet boyfriend by her side made her feel all warm and fuzzy inside. And that she wanted this for the rest of her life. She wanted to come home after a long day to dinner or even surprise him in return with the same, she wanted long, cuddly movies nights and lazy mornings in spent in bed. She wanted picnics and romantic date nights, days spent at home filled with laughter and singing or the occasional quiet as they both worked on their respective hobbies. Games nights with friends and maybe, just maybe...one day an adorable child that looked like the two of them. Poppy wanted it all with Branch right by her side in every way possible. So without really thinking about she suddenly said, “Marry me.”
“WHAT?!?!” Branch sputtered, pulling out of the freezer with a wide eyed, shocked expression, staring at her like she had lost her mind.
It took a moment for her to actually realize what she'd said but then she was beaming and nodding, bouncing over next to him, because yes, she very much wanted to marry this man, “You heard me! Marry me!!”
Branch stared and kept staring and eventually he hid his face in a hand as the freezer door closed and Poppy was beginning to worry when his shoulders began to shake. At first she thought maybe he was crying but then the quiet chuckling came which soon turned into full blown laughter and he was leaning against the fridge to support himself. Poppy pouted at him and crossed her arms, “I'm serious, Branch! Don't laugh at me!”
He tried and failed to say something a few times, each times getting cut off by more guffaws then before, before he gestured for her to stay where she was and turned to go down the hallway. Poppy was very confused, and a little hurt, that he was laughing because she meant what she'd said but she didn't have time to think much more on it as he came back, still chuckling. Standing in front of her, he finally got a grip on himself and grinned at her, stray snickers still coming and going as he reached out to cup her cheek, “I'm not laughing at you, Sunshine. Promise. I'm laughing because...” He took a deep breath before cupping his hands around something and bringing it into her view, “Because I've been trying to ask you the same thing for months.”
Poppy gasped, hands flying to her mouth, as she saw the small velvet box opened on his palm containing the prettiest ring she'd ever seen. A golden band that held a round, sparkling blue topaz in it's center, flanked by two smaller pink gems, the metal band twisted around them to hold them in place. “Oh Branch...” She sniffed, grinning behind her hands, because of course that was the reasoning behind his sort of off behavior the last few months, before crying, “Yes!”
He smirked at her, blue eyes twinkling, “Pretty sure that's suppose to be my line. You did ask first.”
“Oooooh!!!” She growled, well and truly starting to cry now as she grinned winder than ever before, “Just-Just shut up and put that ring on my finger!!”
“So demanding.” He cooed, smile just as wide and eyes damp as he did just that. Giving her hand a look that said he was finally happy to see that ring on her finger before he brought it up to lay a kiss on it.
Then they were both laughing and Branch was scooping her up and twirling her around, hugging her close. Poppy cried as she laughed, burying her face in his shoulder, the unbelievable feeling that she was engaged coursing through her as Branch spun them around. Soon he stopped and she lifted her face to see he was crying and grinning she as she was and she felt another giggle come before they both leaned in for a kiss. Kissing him with all that she had, they stood there, her in his arms as they moved their mouths against one another's as their tears mingled. Pulling back, both breathless and smiling and so, so happy, Poppy looked into Branch's eyes and chirped, “I love you~!”
“I love you too, Sunshine.” He grinned, the expression lighting up his face like she loved to see, “And I will for the rest of our lives.”
“Good~ Because so will I~” And she pulled him for another celebratory kiss and another and another before they were both laughing and twirling again. And eventually they got to that dinner, now a celebratory one, and made plans to tell everyone the following day but for now...for now they were just going to bask in the haze of excitement and happiness that surrounded them as they looked toward a very happy and bright future together.
~*~*~*~*~RMG*~*~*~*~
Always gotta go full cheese at the ending right? Anyway, this was obviously done a tad differently than I normally do just because I tried to keep within Branch's perspective and then Poppy's when I normally write both in conjecture to each other and it was a bit of a challenge but I'm really happy with how this came out! And I hope you all enjoyed it too!
Until next time!

~~~~~~
Woah chapter five I'm quite happy with myself
I hope you all enjoy and I can't wait to make more
~~~~~~~
V woke up a little after 9am still wrapped up in the sheets of his bed while laying onto of Oda. The Arasaka guard was running his fingers thought Vexrins messy and tangled blue and red hair humming lightly.
Vex moves a little to meet the Pale grey eyes "Good morning" Oda lent down and places a soft kiss on Vs lips, a soft dreamy look on his face as he lays back down.
They layed in silence for a good five minutes before Oda groaned about having to get up and get ready for work.
"Vexrin your gonna have to move I need to get ready for work" V grumbs before rolling over onto the bed and pulled the sheets up aroudn his chin as he watches Oda move around the apartment picking up his uniform along with he boots.
This time he doesn't retreat to the safety of the bathroom to get changed. Vex watches him strip and gets a good look at the cybernetics on his throat.
They run out lightly onto his shoulders and down his back a little. And that's when he sees the beautiful work of art on Oda's back.
Its a white tiger with bright blue eyes surrounded by tiger lillies "I dont know you had a tattoo!" Oda looks over his shoulder to where V was laying.
"I got it very shortly after I began working for Hanako-sama. Takemura-san also have a tattoo down his back. It is something that means alot too me. Both Takemura and I got them right after I was assigned to Hanako. His is a fox and Wolf with cherry blossoms and Iris. He said flowers have meaning to them and the ones you pick define you for who you are. What of you Vexrin do you have flowers that have meaning to you?" Oda begins pulling his uniform pants up and buckling them.
As V gets up off the bed he part of his pants down to show a small ring of flowers on the side of his him. "Violets and For get me not?" Oda asked looking at the tattoo of the small blue and purple, red and yellow flowers.
"Forget me nots had a big meaning to me when I was younger while violets I loved becuase my little brother and used to have a small garden filled with both of them, some times we would make tea with the Violets" V explains as he moves behind Oda to run his hands over the Tiger on his back.
"It's beautiful craftsman ship, I used to want to follow my dad's footsteps and me a tattoo artist but then it became easier for people to get tattoos" Vexrin smiled lightly tracing the lines down Oda's back. Oda turns around to face V. "Your father was a tattoo artist?" Vex let's out a small chuckle as he inspected the detail in Oda's Ink. "Yea he was, he was really good at it two, Indian I got to learn more about it"
Both pale grey and black and white meet again. "I've seen you have another tattoo on your chest it's a snake of a sort?" Oda asked as he pulls his shirt on and begins to button it up.
Vexrin pulls his shirt off to show the tattoo of a colourful snake that wraps around part of his body with a small heart tattooed on his chest.
"Ngalyod or the Rainbow serpent, Im orignally from Austraila. my nanna would tell stories about my ancestry that she was told when she was young. We used to have her tell them to us as bed time stories. But the rainbow serpent was one which I always loved to hear about, learning about part of my culture that we didn't really learn about when my mother and father past. But both poppy and nanna told up a all the stories"
Vexrin smiles lightly remembering all the good times from his childhood from running aroudn on the small farm he lives on got he dream time stories that his family would tell so that they would not forget who and were he came from.
Oda had finished pulling his uniform on and enjoyed the recountings of V's family and story. "Your family where are they now?" He asked.
Taking a seat to do his shoes. "My little brother Dustin moved to Night city with me when I was given the chance of a corpate job, he is going to school at one of the higher education schools. While my nanna passed away 5 years ago my poppyis still living out on his small farm in Queensland I send him money when I can so he can keep the farm going.
He didn't want me to work for the big cooperations, said he feel it in his bones that something would go wrong. I guess he was right" Oda can feel The sad smile of V's face he pulls him in for a hug placing his chin on Vex's head.
"I apologise for asking, I did not wish to bring bad memories" V let's out a small laugh before moving slightly. "Can I kiss you?" He asks very lightly and if Oda didn't have his enhancements he most likely wouldn't have heard him.
Oda leans down and places a quick kiss on V's lips. He pulls away picking up a bag with the rest of his gear in it. "I have to head to work now but am aloud to come back later tonight?" He asked hoping that this wasn't a one time thing.
V pulls him back into a kiss this one was sweet and quick and V let out a soft laugh again. "You are welcome over anytime" he gives Oda a quickpeek on the forehead before pushing him to the door.
" Now go to work or you are gonna be late!"
V watches as Oda leave his apartment before finally heading back inside, he moves around getting ready for the day when he get a call for Misty.
"Hey V I was just checking in on you again I know it's been a few weeks, I did a reading for you, I did a past, present and future spread and well you got the Tower reversed, death upright and the Lovers upright. So its very different" v stood there for a while trying to recall the meanign for the card.
" I remember death upright is something to do with change and transformation but I do remember the other too, I swear the death cards my friend at this point " misty has a light laugh before she continues.
" tower reversed can mean  Personal transformation, fear of change, averting disaster. All decks are different so they could have different meanings. Death upright is Endings, change, transformation, transition and as you have said your familiar with this card and the Lovers upright is love, harmony, relationships, alignment, choices so it's very different from. What you normally have. So my question is there someone you are seeing?" Misty asked making Vex blush.
"Maybe.. well I don't know what it is but like yes. No? I don't have a clue.. ok he's coming over tonight" misty is laughing on the other end of the call.
"Well how about you come stop by the shop which I close up for the day and we go out for the day!" V smiled at the suggestion. " that be awesome Misty I'll meet you at the shop" with that there call ended and Vex got read to leave as he does he decided to shoot Goro a message.
Vex: hey, hey Goro, was wondering if you could forward me Sandayu's contact, Please and thank you!
Takemura: I must ask Why Vex, had Oda been a bother again?
Vex: hahaha no but we have started talking and I i forgot to ask him for his holo, he's been sparing with me a little But we aren't at each other's throats anymore.
Goro: that is good to hear :), I will forward his contact to you shortly,
Once Oda had left Vexrins he had arrived at work with 30 minutes to spare. As he walked into the Estate he gave a quick bow to the other guard as he made his way tough being checked.
He gets a notification the only people who would be messaging him would be Hanako, Goro and his parents. So when an unknown number pops up he is hesitant but decided by her to get it out to the way.
.....: Hey Oda it's me Vex, just letting you know that spare keys are in the broken light on the door"
He lets out a small chuckle before sending but a message
Sandayu: thank you Vexrin.
He quickly sets V's contact up.
Name: Vex-kun
Number: ////////////
He has a bit of a laugh to himself about it but in the end leave it.
After that most of the day had been staying within the room which Hanako was or following her where ever she needed to be.
As the day slowly turned to night they had arrived back at Hanako's estate, Oda was watching the time almost like a hawk at this point and it didn't go un noticed.
He still has alteast half an hour until his shift ends, he had never feel that time going so slow until now.
"Oda?" He turns to Hanako again she had a light smile on her face as she calls him to take a seat. He walks over and sits down.
"Will you be staying and watch old movies tonight, you seem like you want to be anywhere but here" he lets out a sigh. "Forgive me Hanako-sama, that is not my intention, just excited and nerves" that peaks Hanako's interest. He can seem the small smile as she bring her glass to her lips.
"And what could have you so distracted, should I say who?" They share a small laugh and it goes quite again. "A man, I... I trust you Hanako-sama and.. fuck it's V" he closes his eyes and a blush can be seen across his cheeks. Hanako let's out a laugh before placing her hands on his shoulders.
"If he makes you happy then I have no problem with it, if he hurts you not even Takemura will save him" the next half an hour was Hanako asking question and Oda answering them.
When his shift was over Hanako waved he out with a smile.

"...Guuuhhh."
He slumped backwards, falling on his ass, only a few seconds after his last opponent had gone down. His heart was racing. His hands ached from the punches he'd thrown. His costume was soaked with sweat and, in some patches, torn and bloody. One especially determined trafficker had managed to get a knife through the bulletproof fabric, and the resulting gash ached and stung with every labored breath.
One of his eyes was swelling shut under the mask. Blearily, Spider-Man wondered how he'd get that contact lens out intact.
He tried to push himself to his feet, and only made it up on the second attempt. His good eye squeezed shut, Spider-Man took a cartridge of medical webbing off of his hip and used it to seal his scrapes and his stab wound shut, even as he limped over to the hostages in the capsized train car. If he hadn't been so tired and sore he could've pulled the door off singlehandedly, but now he stuck both hands to the metal door and strained for a few seconds before the metal managed to tear away. "Anyone injured?" he called in, too sore to really tell by vibrations alone. "If you're bleeding I can patch it up."
After a few seconds of silence, a shaky hand tried to reach out. Without looking Spider-Man could sense its three fingers and thumb, the odd scaling of its skin, the danger of each sharp claw. Nevertheless he reached in and grabbed the arm by the wrist, pulling its owner out of the wreck as quickly as he dared.
"Thank you," the mutant whispered as Spider-Man started webbing their wounds closed. "I--I didn't know what I was gonna do."
"Die, probably." Spider-Man helped them lean against the train and began to help the next one out.
"Y-you knocked over a train." The fourth or fifth mutant said, wide-eyed, as he pulled them out. "...I didn't know you were that strong."
"I'm not. A little bit of prep time and you can do anything." He checked for more hostages, then looked away, his hand on his injured leg and his brow furrowed beneath the mask. "...I'm forgetting something," he muttered to himself. "What am I forgetting?"
"Should...we go to the police?"
"Hm? God, no," replied Spider-Man, looking back at the rescued mutants. “At best you’d end up right back where you were. More likely you’d just get killed and I’d get framed. Again.”
He gave them instructions on how to keep their heads down until Xavier could get to them, then pointed out the way out of the subway tunnels. As they began to hurry off Spider-Man leaned against the wrecked train and groaned in pain, holding himself up by spite alone. There was no time to sit around feeling sorry for himself. Retriving his backpack from its hiding place, he set to work scouring the train for every scrap of information he could find.
He still didn’t know where exactly the traffickers had been taking mutants, or what for. He didn’t know how long this operation had been underway. He didn’t know how deep it went--it had connections to the Life Foundation in LA, and the police, but was it connected to the CCA? To Albany? Washington?
There was so much he didn’t know. And he was still forgetting something.
Eventually Spider-Man concluded that he’d gathered all the info he could from the train. Optimistically, it would take his laptop a few hours to decrypt the data he’d ripped from the traffickers’ tech, but between this little crash and the damage he’d done to their loading station their operation was over for the foreseeable future. This wasn’t as satisfying as it should have been. For all he knew there were hundreds of mutants still in captivity, being dissected, being brainwashed, dead. But it’d be hours before he could go any further in his investigation, and as long as there were no more mutants being taken in that time, he thought he could be okay with that.
The way home was slow and cumbersome with his body as drained as it was. He walked across rooftops, hopped over streets with small grunts of pain, and made more use of his web-shooters than usual, firing weblines and just letting himself swing rather than put his body through any more effort. He swung through Times Square like this, tucking his knees to his chest as he gave the line a tug, gaining a bit of altitude to hide within the holographic ads. The entrance to the Interspace Terminal passed by beneath him, and as he passed by an LCD screen it switched to his own Wanted poster. He ignored it with a grumble.
Going home in costume wasn’t safe anymore; too many cameras and drones milled through the streets, always searching for unregistered superheroes. So Spider-Man slipped into an alley a few blocks away from his apartment and perched behind a dumpster for a few minutes, waiting. The constant buzzing in his head rose and fell with the passing of pedestrians on the sidewalk, with the flight of drones above, each movement sending pulses of vibration through the ground or the air and each camera or potential weapon sending a small chill through his spine. But eventually it settled slightly, a gap in the traffic, and in that moment Peter Parker slipped out of the alley, his costume hidden beneath a jacket and sweatpants, his scarred and bruised face hidden by a hood.
There was danger in his apartment.
Not just the defenses that he’d hidden throughout his home after Kaos had resurfaced; there were dangerous people. His head snapped up towards the thirty-first floor as he stepped onto the block and froze, his good eye wide with horror. Emjay would be home already, was she safe? It took a long, long second for him to recognize those myriad threatening tingles as people he knew: people with powers, people like him, people he had worked with for years now. He didn’t really relax, but his panic subsided as he headed into his building and started up the stairs.
Was that what he had forgotten? he wondered on his way up. Was there a group mission he was supposed to help with? Or had he talked to them already about the mutant trafficking? It seemed unlikely; his responsibilities stuck in his brain. But that was no reason to rule it out. He accelerated, taking the stairs three at a time, moving as fast as he could without giving away his superhuman nature. As he reached the twenty-somethingth floor he felt quick, hasty movements from within his apartment--they’d definitely sensed him by now; what were they moving to do? He had his keys out as he reached his floor, and was just beginning to slide one into the lock when he felt Emjay’s footsteps and heart approach the door.
Peter lowered his keys as she cracked the door open, amber and freckles and deep brown eyes greeting his vision. Emjay’s attention focused first on his swollen eye, worry flashing across her face, but as his eyebrows jumped in embarrassed acknowledgement she swallowed her reflex. She’d seen him shrug off far, far worse, many times before. Still, the smile that she gave him was subdued, and a little melancholy.
He nodded towards the heartbeats and nagging danger of the Spiders just out of sight. “What’s the occasion?”
That got a better smile. Emjay snorted, her dimples showing, and glanced down for a moment. “I knew you’d forget,” she chuckled as she looked back up at him, and as Peter’s brow furrowed she allowed the door to open completely. “Happy birthday, Tiger.”
Members of the Cluster were either standing around the kitchen’s island counter or seated on the furniture surrounding the coffee table. A few boxes wrapped in paper were piled in both spots, their wrappings gaudy and bright and festive, and each Spider gave Peter either a wave or a verbal greeting. A few of them had beverages already. Poppy in particular had been halfway through a sip from a mug as he entered, and she hastily set it down as she waved. A little girl with heterochromia and fluffy hair dashed up to him and wrapped him in a tight hug, and as he returned it out of habit he watched Piper unveil an incredibly large cheesecake. Peter hated birthday cake. They must’ve been planning this for a few days at least.
A laugh rose up out of Peter’s chest. It started quiet and remained that way: he covered his mouth and looked away as he tried to control his own response. Nothing doing. His shoulders hiked up as an uncharacteristic grin spread across his face, and he closed his eyes and nodded at nothing as he continued to laugh. Thank god they weren’t singing, he reflected, still laughing at himself a little. Emjay must’ve told them he hated that too. He opened his good eye as his laughter managed to trail off, and caught sight of her own shoulders shaking with silent giggles.
“We can wait a little longer if you need us to,” she said, as the Spiders started back into whatever conversation had been interrupted by his arrival. “You know, take a few minutes in the bathroom and patch yourself up. The cheesecake’ll still be here when you’re--eek!”
Damn the injuries. Damn the long and difficult day fighting people. Damn the entire world outside their apartment door, and all the worlds outside that. Damn it all except the people in this room right now, remembering a little part of himself that he’d forgotten, giving him those few hours to indulge and be social and act like something besides the full-time vigilante that was Spider-Man. Peter’s arms wrapped around Emjay’s waist in silent thanks for putting this together, and her feet left the ground as he pulled her close.
Her lips tasted like strawberries and honey.

Part 2
Niall looked down at Quinn, a smile settling on his lips. “Did I tell you that you looked amazing?”
“You didn’t,” Quinn smiled. “Go on, then.”
“You look amazing, Quinnie,” Niall murmured softly, their fingertips brushing. “Absolutely amazing. You’re the best dressed.”
Quinn laughed, shaking her head. “There is literally a bride in there and I’m the best dressed?”

                                                       ♡♡♡
There are girls that dream about their wedding day for their whole lives. Some have had them planned since they were eight years old. And some girls had a wedding fund they were saving for the big day. Quinn was not that girl.
It was hard for Quinn to imagine herself in love. It wasn’t that she didn’t want to be in love, it was that something like that seemed out of reach. So when it comes to weddings, Quinn was admittedly a bit uneasy.
Quinn was lucky she had Poppy to keep her head out of the clouds while they attended the ceremony. Evie was off doing her wedding duties which left the pair of them sitting with their parents in pews.
Quinn already knew her mother, Brigid would be a blubbering mess, having seen Greg grow up over the years. Quinn knew there was no way she wouldn’t be embarrassed tonight but it was fine. It’d be fine.
“Just look at all these pretty dresses,” Brigid whispered, patting Quinn’s knee.
“I see them,” Quinn murmured, sitting back, exchanging a glance with Poppy. Her mother was the most wedding crazy person she’d ever met.
“I just picture your wedding day,” Brigid whispered, smiling up at her daughter. “It will be beautiful. And your husband will be handsome too.”
“I sure hope so,” Quinn snorted. “If I’m getting married he better be fit.”
This earned glances from people around her which embarrassed her mother. Brigid pinched Quinn’s thigh and gave her a glare.
Quinn laughed, crossing her arms over her chest. “Sorry, mum.”
“You just better behave tonight,” Brigid warmed. “You don’t have to be drunk to have a good time, you know.”
“Jesus,” Quinn muttered. “So what. I like wine. Nothing wrong with that.”
“Hush, child,” Brigid shushed her, turning away from her.
It was her mother’s favorite way to end a conversation she didn’t want to happen. The fact that Quinn was 24 years old living in a completely separate country didn’t matter. She was still a child.
“You just don’t know how to act at weddings do you?” Poppy mused, eyes glinting.
“Is it that obvious?” Quinn asked with a laugh. “I am so uncomfortable.”
“Just relax,” Poppy laughed. “Plus you can literally stare at your man the entire time. I’m almost jealous.”
Quinn glared at Poppy knowing full well that her mother was listening intently.  On cue, Brigid asked, “who is your man, Quinn?”
“No one, mum,” Quinn responded quietly. “Poppy is a jokester. We say that Niall’s dad is my man. Just as a joke.”
“Now how would that be a funny joke?” Brigid asked, astounded. “He is a real person you know.”
Quinn groaned, tugging at her hair. “You’re right. Sorry. We’ll stop the joke now.” She turned to Poppy, eyes glinting, “not funny. If you keep this up mum’s gonna say we can’t be friends anymore.”
Poppy and Quinn both laughed, heads tipping forward. Brigid huffed and rolled her eyes. “Hush, girls. That’s quite enough.”
Just in time, the lights went down and Canon in D by Pachelbel began to swell. The wedding procession began down the aisle.
The wedding party was larger than Quinn had anticipated. It seemed like everyone in their town was here. Danny has a large family and Greg knows lots of people it wasn’t a surprise the chapel was full.
Quinn felt herself flush when she saw Niall step out of the foyer. All of the groomsmen were wearing the same suit but in Quinn’s expert opinion, he looked the absolute best. They were wearing navy blue suites that were so simple yet one of the greatest things Quinn had ever seen.
And Evie looked good too. On his arm. Quinn quickly looked to Evie and gave her a smile. Evie smiled back at them holding back a laugh.
Quinn let herself look at Niall who’d been looking at her the whole time. She smiled at him and he gave her a wink. Quinn rolled her eyes and shook her head at him.
“That’s weird,” Poppy whispered. “Niall just winked at me.”
Quinn looked at her, eyes narrowed. It only took a minute before Poppy broke out into a giggle, hiding her laughter in Quinn’s shoulder.
“You’re a nut,” Quinn whispered, shaking her head.
The whole church stood just as the music reached its climax. Danny and her father were at the end of the isle. They made their way down slowly.
It was this part of the wedding that Quinn usually zoned out. Out of respect for Greg and his family she decided she’d remain present for the ceremony though she wasn’t going to be happy about it.
Poppy was right, though, Quinn did get to check out Niall. It is also important to note that Deo was a groomsman so she had some eye candy too. Quinn didn’t forget.
//
By the time they got to the ceremony, Quinn and Poppy were both tipsy. Brigid was embaressed but Quinn felt too bubbly to care. The reception was in a hotel which Quinn conveniently had a room booked at for the girls. Crazy how that worked out.
They walked in, late, because for some reason their mothers felt the need to change beforehand. Quinn didn’t know that was something people did. Changing in between. While they were changing is when they got ahold of the liquor. If its anyones fault it’d be their mothers.
But Quinn was starving and immediately she saw the cookie table. She wanted to devour it but resisted, following behind the mums like the good children they were. Quinn looked around the fancy room with chandeliers and white table cloths and expensive glasses. Everyone was dressed perfectly. It felt like a room they didn’t belong in.
The lot of them sat in a table off away from the dance floor. It was a given that their mums would not dance tonight especially since their dads were working. Quinn was eyeing the dance floor, though. It seemed like a good place to embarrass herself. After all, she’d be back in Chelsea by Monday and the odds of anyone remembering are slim.
“I need a beverage,” Quinn announced as soon as they sat down. “And we need to find our pretty friend Evie.”
“Go on, then, girls,” Brigid waved them on. “It’s about time you get out of me hair.”
“Do you know that when other daughters come home their mothers are happy!” Quinn exclaimed, laughing.
“Hush child,” Brigid said laughing. “Let the adults talk.”
Quinn shook her head, dragging Poppy along. Poppy was laughing at the exchange between the two of them. Like mother like daughter.
“When people ask me if it’s hard living so far from my family I can say no and actually mean it,” Quinn laughed, shaking her head. They leaned on the bar.
“I understand your pain, love,” Poppy laughed.
“Can we have two martinis, please,” Quinn asked, leaning forward towards the bartender.
“Two each?” He asked, putting two glasses on the counter.
“One each,” Quinn smiled. “But don’t worry, I always come back for more.”
“Cheeky,” he laughed, shaking his head.
Quinn gave him a grin and turned to face poppy. “I just remembered. Deo was in the wedding party! I bet you oogled him the entire time!”
“I did no such thing!” Poppy cried incredulously. “Only like half the time.”
“Thats actually a fair amount,” Quinn conceded, nodding in appreciation.
“Speaking of. Where is everyone?” Poppy asked, looking around.
The bartender set their drinks down in front of them. “That’ll be 15 euros each.”
“Shit I don’t have any cash,” Poppy murmured, patting at her clutch.
“That’s interesting,” Quinn nodded. “Considering it is an open bar. Therefore no it is not 15 each.”
The bartender laughed, nodding. “Smart girls.”
Quinn nodded towards the dance floor and laughed. “We’ll be back.”
The room was bouncing. People were grabbing food from the buffet and others were drinking or taking photos at the photo booth. It was a mess of people. Somehow, though, Evie stuck out like a sore thumb. She was picking at the desert table.
“Evie!” Poppy cried, pulling her into a hug. “Pretty little thing, you are.”
“Oh stop,” Evie chuckled. “You’re gonna make me blush.”
“How are you feeling now that your wedding duties are over with?” Quinn asked, stealing a cookie off of her plate.
“Relieved,” Evie nodded. “I love danny with my whole heart but she was a bridezilla. Her first pick maid of honor had to step down because she had stomach ulcers.”
Quinn laughed. “Sounds like you were the right person for the job, then.”
“I like to think so,” Evie nodded. “Oh by the way Niall was looking for you. Said he’ll meet you outside I think.”
“When’d he say that?” Quinn asked.
“About five minutes ago. I forgot,” Evie chuckled. “He’s probably out there.”
“Would you guys mind if I go find him?” Quinn asked.
“Not at all,” poppy waved her off. “We’re probably going to grab a bite.”
“Okay,” Quinn nodded. “I’ll see you guys in a little.”
“Have fun!” Evie exclaimed. “And for the love of god use protection!”
Quinn wrinkled her nose. “Rudely inappropriate Evelyn.”
“As was the use of my full name,” Evie retorted with a laugh.
Quinn shook her head, laughing as she walked away. She was feeling kind of nervous to find Niall. The way they left things added some tension to the air. It wasn’t bad tension but she didn’t know what she’d be walking into.
Quinn pushed through the big glass doors and looked around outside. Niall was leaning against the building, a cigar between his fingers. Quinn shook her head, walking towards him.
“That is a nasty habit,” she murmured, taking the cigar from his fingers. She pressed it against her lips and inhaled. She handed it back to him, exhaling with a smile.
Niall laughed, eyebrows raised. “Thought you were going to throw it out.”
“Nah,” Quinn chuckled, leaning beside him. “I smoked cigarettes when I studied in Paris.”
“Did you, now?” Niall inquired.
“I did,” Quinn nodded with a smile. “Those were good times. But I did not picture you as a smoker.”
“Well in my defense my family’s got me stressed the fuck out and I found a cigar in my da’s jacket pocket so I stole it,” Niall told her. “And it’s not fucking working. I’m about ready to fuck off and leave.”
“What happened?” Quinn asked, turning to face him.
“Greg is an asshole,” Niall shook his head. “I don’t know why I’m even his best man? We don’t get along. In fact half the reason I’m in Chelsea is because all we do is fight.”
“Because he loves you, I presume,” Quinn responded gently. “And I’m sure today was probably tough for him. It’s possible he wasn’t trying to be an asshole. Maybe he was feeling all sorts of emotions and you were just the closest person to him.”
“Well that’s shit,” Niall responded dryly, shaking his head. “That ‘I love you therefore I will take my personal shit out on you’ narrative. Toxic as shit.”
“I agree,” Quinn nodded. “Though growing up in Ireland was just that, wasn’t it?”
Niall hummed, taking another puff of the cigar. “It was. Did we have the same childhood?”
“It’s possible,” Quinn laughed.
Niall tossed the half smoked cigar on to ground and smothered it. Quinn couldn’t help but relish in the way the vanilla sweet scent lingered in the air.
“Are you going to finish that?” Niall asked, pointing to her glass.
“All yours,” Quinn offered, handing it to him.
“Thanks,” Niall smiled. He brought the glass to his mouth and took a sip which turned into a gulp and then he chugged it.
Quinn’s eyebrows raised in amusement. He wiped his mouth, muttering, “fuck.”
“You better slow down,” Quinn laughed, taking the empty glass from him. “At this rate we’ll be doing hard drugs by the time they cut the cake.”
“Honestly I’d do anything right now,” Niall chuckled.
“Well for your mums sake, don’t,” Quinn smiled.
Niall down at Quinn, a smile settling on his lips.
“Absolutely,” Niall nodded, meeting her eyes. “Swear. I wouldn’t lie.”
Quinn tilted her head to the side, squinting at him, “I feel like maybe you would though.”
“I wouldn’t,” Niall chuckled, head falling back. “If I didn’t think you looked amazing I wouldn’t have said it. And I do think you are the best dressed but of course that is my subjective opinion.”
“Well thank you,” Quinn smiled. “I appreciate it. And I happen to think that you were the most handsome groomsman. By far.”
“Thank you,” Niall smiled. “Even though we are all dressed identically?”
“Even so,” Quinn nodded.
Niall let out a groan, scratching at his jaw. “Quinn...”
“What?”
“When are you just going to admit that you want to kiss me?” Niall asked. “It’s getting to be a bit too much for me now.”
“A bit too much?” Quinn laughed. “Sounds like a load.”
“You’re so stubborn,” Niall laughed, shaking his head. “The other night at the pub. I saw the way you were lookin at me. You absolutely cannot hide it.”
“You did not see anything,” Quinn smiled.
“You almost drooled on me hand!” Niall cried. “And then when I didn’t kiss you, you were so frustrated!” He added. “I saw it with me own eyes.”
“Well that’s your subjective opinion!” Quinn exclaimed, looking up at him.
“So if I did this,” Niall whispered, sliding his hand around her waist. “And then I looked you in the eyes.” He tilted her chin up to look at him. “And said, Quinn I can’t fucking take lookin at ya. I need to kiss you or I swear I’m gonna lose it.”
“Then id tell ya to stop lookin at me,” Quinn whispered. There was a flutter in her eyelashes as his breath hit her mouth.
“Or what if I...” he trailed off, hand wrapping around her throat. “Told you how gorgeous ya look when you’re staring at me like this. Or how good you look with my hand wrapped around your throat.”
“Fuck,” Quinn whispered, eyes slipping shut. “Then I’d tell ya how badly I wanted you to kiss me this whole time.”
“You look so good with my hand wrapped around your throat,” Niall whispered, noses brushing together.
“Kiss me,” Quinn breathed out.
“What?”
“You fucking heard me,” Quinn whispered, eyes meeting his.
“I think you should say it again,” Niall grinned, thumb brushing against her throat. “It’d make me happy.”
Quinn figured just this once he’d give him what he wanted. She licked her lips, nodding gently. “I want you to kiss me,” she breathed out, eyes fluttering. “I need you to kiss me, Niall. Please kiss-“
Niall cut her off, catching her lips in a kiss. Quinn moaned against his lips. He ran his hands through her hair, licking into her mouth. Quinn pressed herself against him as the pent up desperation left her body. Niall deepened the kiss, pulling her in.
Niall groaned, pulling away. He whispered, “fucking hell.”
“Was that good enough for you?” Quinn asked teasingly.
“Considering ya still have that smart ass mouth maybe I should be asking you that?” Niall huffed out, shaking his head.
“Maybe,” Quinn shrugged. “Or maybe... you could kiss me just once more?” She looked up at him with soft eyes that made it impossible to say no.
Niall hummed out a laugh, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear. He leaned down, kissing her again, tangling his fingers into her hair. Quinn deepened the kiss herself, tilting her head. She moaned against his lips just to see what would happen. Niall pulled away, dropping his head to her shoulder. “You have got to stop doing that. Seriously.”
Quinn laughed, running her fingers through his hair. “Was fun.”
Niall’s phone rang in his pocket. He lifted his head, shaking it. “I don’t want to answer it.”
“Go on,” Quinn urged gently.
Niall pulled his phone out of his pocket, answering it without looking. “Hello?”
“I’m outside,” Niall said. There was a pause. “Okay. I’ll-“ another pause. “Fuck. Okay.” Another pause. “I get it. I’m coming in Jesus-“
Niall shook his head, shoving his phone back into his pocket. “It’s time for me to do the toast,” Niall said, straightening up. “How many kisses will I get if I don’t chicken out?”
“Hm,” Quinn hummed, thinking on it. “I guess it would be fair to say that however long your toast is, thats how long I will make out with you in the bathroom?” Quinn offered.
“That is a tempting offer,” Niall agreed. “And what if it’s really funny?”
“Then for every time you make me laugh I’ll add on two minutes,” Quinn told him, pulling him away from the wall.
“Wow,” Niall laughed, throwing an arm over her shoulder. “I think it will be the longest makeout sesh in the history of all the makeout sessions of all the world.”
Quinn laughed, shaking her head. “You sure are full of it.”
“I’m funny,” Niall nodded. “That’s why it’ll be extra long.”
“We’ll see,” Quinn smiled, patting him on the chest. “But I know you’ll do great. And to celebrate Evie has some mystery pills in her purse. We could try that out too.”
Niall laughed, nodding. “I just might have to take you up on that.”
“Plus on the bright side this is like the last big best man thing you have to do!” Quinn exclaimed. “And then you can get very very drunk.”
“That’s aces,” Niall murmured, reaching around to open the door for them. Quinn walked in feeling the warm air hit her skin.
Greg was standing in the foyer waiting for Niall with an impatient look on his face. “So that’s what you were doing? Off fucking with Quinn. Seriously? I thought you were done pulling this shit.”
“I’m here aren’t I?” Niall asked, eyebrows furrowed. “You want me to do this speech or not?”
“I wanted you to do it twenty fucking minutes ago!” Greg exclaimed.
“Guys,” Quinn interjected. “It’s just a speech, yeah? Niall’l do it. He said he would. And that it’d be a funny one. It’s not a big deal.”
“Yes it fucking is!” Greg yelled. “If I- fuck if I can’t even do this day properly how in the bloody fuck will I be able to make her happy for the rest of her life!”
“Greg,” Quinn said softly. “Can I hug you?”
“What?” He asked, anger deflating. He looked at Niall with eyebrows furrowed. Niall shrugged and shook his head.
“Can I hug you?” Quinn repeated, arms extended.
“I guess,” Greg conceded, wrapping her arms around him.
“Greg,” Quinn whispered. “You are going to be a great husband. And the fact that you are trying so hard means that your head is in the right place.” She pulled away. “The way you are feeling is valid. And you have a right to feel this way. You cannot take this out on Niall. It is between you and Danny.”
“Yeah,” Greg breathed out. He nodded, running a hand through his hair. “You’re right. Shit. I’m sorry, Nialler.”
“It’s okay,” Niall nodded.
“I just... dont even worry about the toast,” Greg told him, shaking his head.
“Are you sure?” Niall asked hesitantly.
“Yeah,” Greg nodded. “Da has a whole speech planned. It’s- your fine.”
“Okay,” Niall nodded. “Thanks.”
Greg nodded. “Thanks Quinn.”
“Anytime,” Quinn responded with a gentle smile.
“Excuse me,” Greg muttered, heading back inside.
Niall breathed out a sigh as Greg disappeared. He let out a quiet chuckle, eyebrows raised. “That was like black magic.”
Quinn laughed and shrugged. “Everyone has a talent.”
“That was a superpower,” Niall shook his head.
“Well thank you,” Quinn smiled, head tilting to the side.
Niall wrapped his arms around her waist, looking down at her. “Did you eat yet?”
“Mmm no,” Quinn responded. “You?”
“No,” Niall shook his head. “Want to?”
“Sure,” Quinn nodded.
Niall and Quinn went and got some food. Niall was bombarded by family members and friends the whole time they were up there but after they got their food, it was just the two of them. It might have had something to do with Niall pulling her into a staff only room which also happened to be filled with champagne bottles.
“This is fantastic,” Niall smiled, grabbing a bottle out of the ice bucket. “Watch me open this.”
“Jesus,” Quinn whispered.
Quinn couldn’t comprehend how he even did it but the cork flew out and hit the wall and champagne bubbled to the top, sloshing onto the floor.
Niall laughed, wiping his hands on his pants. “I knew I could do it.”
“I didn’t doubt you for a second,” Quinn mused.
“This is nice,” Niall commented, looking over to her.
Quinn took the bottle from his hands. “What is?”
“Us,” Niall responded softly.
Quinn brought the bottle to her lips and took a gulp. She hummed, meeting Niall’s eyes. “Is it?”
“Yeah,” Niall nodded, sitting down beside her. “I’ve never had fun like this with anyone.”
“Me either,” Quinn smiled.
“After this and everyone’s lives go back to normal can I... can I see you?” Niall asked, looking down at her.
“In London?” Quinn asked.
“Yeah,” Niall nodded.
“I suppose,” Quinn nodded with a shrug. “I mean I’m sure my London boyfriend won’t mind if I bring you home. You two would actually get along nicely.”
Niall shook his head and rolled his eyes. “You know that’s not funny. At all.”
“Just a joke,” Quinn laughed, grabbing the bottle of champagne from him. She pressed the bottle to her lips and took a sip. “I’d love to see you in London though I am quite the busy bee. Got a proper nine to five which is actually a seven to seven.”
“I too am a busy bee,” Niall smiled, watching her with amusement. “But my job is a seven to nine. Usually.”
“Very interesting that you felt the need to one up me on that,” Quinn laughed, pointing a finger at him. “Mr. barrister or whatever it is you claim to do.”
Niall laughed, heading falling back against the wall. “What I claim to do? Ya think I’m lying.”
Quinn held her hands up in defense. “Listen, mate, if you write off your golfing and fancy shmancy brunches as work hours that is your business.”
“I do not have an argument there. You did make some points,” Niall laughed. “And yes I am a Barrister. Not as fun as it sounds.”
“You get to yell objection don’t you? That’s like the ultimate power move.”
“I do,” Niall nodded with a smile. “And it is a great feeling but I spend a lot of time sitting on me ass reading. Quite boring.”
“I can’t believe you practice law!” Quinn exclaimed, leaning forward. “I just can’t wrap me head around it.”
Niall laughed, “why?”
“Dunno,” Quinn smiled. “Maybe I’ve just got the image of seven year old Niall calling witnesses up to the stand.”
Niall chuckled, nodding. “Seven year old me had no idea where he was heading. And, lover, please could you get seven year old me out of your head. It’s just weird.”
Quinn laughed, nudging his leg with her heel clad foot. “You’re the one that’s made it weird.”
Niall laughed, grabbing the bottle of champagne from her. He took a big sip before setting it down between them. “Alright. Are you ready to dance?”
“The real question is are you?” Quinn asked. She took a sip of champagne. “I need to be drunk to dance.”
“Then drink up,” Niall urged, nudging the bottle towards her.
“Okay I’ll chug it,” Quinn decided, picking up the bottle. “I might throw up but at least I’ll be drunk.”
“Don’t chug it,” Niall shook his head.
“I think I’m going to,” Quinn nodded. “For wedding culture. I have to.”
“You literally don’t,” Niall laughed. “There is nothing that says you have to chug this champagne.”
“I’m saying it,” Quinn laughed. She pressed the bottle to her lips and took a sip.
“This is the absolute worst idea ever,” Niall laughed.
Quinn took a few large sips before setting the bottle down. She shook her head, wiping her mouth on the back of her hand. “I must admit that was not a brilliant idea.”
Niall set their plates on the table, standing up. He picked up the bottle of champagne and set it next to their plates. Quinn was still sitting on the floor watching him.
“Up you get,” Niall murmured, holding his hands out for her. Quinn took them, letting him pull her to her feet.
“Alright now I am setting some ground rules,” Quinn said, smoothing a hand over his chest.
“Okay,” Niall agreed looking down at her.
“You may not kiss me out there,” Quinn told him, adjusting his collar.
“Okay,” he nodded. “That seems fair.”
“And you have got to loose the suit jacket,” Quinn added.
“Right,” Niall nodded. He pulled his jacket off, smoothing it out. “I need to find somewhere to hang it up. Don’t want wrinkles.”
“Forget the wrinkles,” Quinn laughed. “Do ya need a drink?”
“I might,” he nodded, laughing. “I can’t just forget wrinkles.”
“Here,” Quinn handed him the bottle.
Niall took a few sips, nodding. He let out a breath, relaxing his shoulders. “Alright.”
“We need to loosen this up,” Quinn murmured, unbuttoning two buttons on his white shirt.
“How do I look?” Niall asked, eyebrow raised.
“Fantastic,” Quinn responded with a smile.
“Are there any more ground rules?” Niall asked.
“Nope,” Quinn shook her head.
“Okay,” Niall nodded. “Are we ready?”
“Just one more chug,” Quinn told him, holding a finger up. Quinn picked the bottle up and took two long sips.
Niall finally drug Quinn out of the little room and to the dance floor. From then on it was a blur. Quinn’s vision blurred with Niall’s bright smile. His hands on her waist, pulling her in. It was something Quinn had not considered when she agreed to dance with him. She wouldn’t dare complain about that.
It wasn’t long before they were both drunk, glued to the bar with a group of people. Quinn didn’t know anyone but Niall was a million times funnier when he was drunk. And he liked to be the center of attention much like Evie does. Tonight Evie didn’t mind sharing center stage with him because he was making her laugh. Quinn watched in amusement, sipping her champagne like it was nothing. But she could feel herself slipping.
By the time everyone took the party upstairs to the rooms, Quinn was ready to either fall asleep or vomit. Poppy unlocked their door. Quinn pushed it open and stumbled into the bathroom. “Poppy I think I am going to die here,” Quinn said, sitting down on the cold tile floor.
“You aren’t,” Poppy disagreed, sitting down on the edge of the bathtub. “Wish we would have eaten before we started partying.”
“That would have been a brilliant idea,” Quinn breathed out. “And champagne? What was I thinking?”
Poppy chuckled, “I’ve no idea. You were with Niall when that happened. He’s to blame.”
“Fuck Niall,” Quinn whispered, head tipping back. “I’ll say it to his face too.”
Poppy laughed. “Don’t go too hard on him. He adores you.”
Quinn smiled, eyes slipping shut. “Does he?”
“Yes,” Poppy replied gently.
“Good,” Quinn whispered. “Okay I think I’m okay. I’m not going to throw up. Want to get in bed.”
“Okay lets stand,” Poppy said, taking her hands. Quinn got up on her feet, swaying for a minute. “Spinning?”
“Yes,” Quinn breathed out, laughing.
“Still okay?” Poppy asked.
“Yeah.”
With Poppy’s help, Quinn made it to the bed. She kicked her heels off, falling face first into the pillow. She just knew this was the way this night was going to end. There was no wedding that Quinn was not smashed. It was the only occasions she completely lost it.
“Hey where is Evie?” Quinn asked.
“She’s in Shawns room with Niall and Deo and some other people,” Poppy told her.
“You should go, P,” Quinn said. “Im okay. You should go have fun.”
“It’s okay,” poppy shook her head.
“Poppy seriously go hang out with them. I know you want to,” Quinn urged, rolling over on her side to look at her. “You don’t need to take care of me. I promise.”
“Alright,” Poppy smiled. “But I’m coming back to check on you in like ten minutes and if you need anything call me, okay?”
“Okay,” Quinn chuckled. “And fucking kiss deo, would ya?”
“Hush child,” Poppy laughed. She dropped a bottle of water, the remote and her phone beside Quinn.
When the door closed, Quinn finally let herself relax. She closed her eyes despite the way the room spun. Of all the weddings Quinn had been to, this one was her favorite.
A few moments later, the door opened back up. Quinn rolled over, looking towards the door. Niall walked in, a pillow clutched to his chest. He had a pouty look on his face which made Quinn laugh into her arm. “What’s the matter?”
“I got kicked out,” Niall told her, jumping onto the bed beside her. “I asked them to be quiet so they said this was the sleeping room. Can I sleep?”
“I suppose I can share me bed,” Quinn smiled. She rolled over on her back and stared up at the ceiling. “But if your side of the bed starts spinning I absolutely cannot help you out.”
Niall laughed, “Ya got the spins?”
“Yes,” Quinn murmured, eyes slipping shut. “Did you come here to really sleep?”
“Of course,” Niall responded softly. “It wasn’t to come see you if that’s what you’re thinking.”
“Right,” Quinn smiled. “So then be quiet and go to sleep.”
“Okay,” Niall whispered. “I just have one question.”
“What’s that?” Quinn asked opening her eyes.
“Did ya have fun tonight?” Niall asked gently.
Quinn rolled over to face him. She smiled over at him. “I did. Did you?”
“Yeah,” Niall smiled.
“Good,” Quinn murmured, eyes falling shut once more.
“You’re so pretty,” Niall whispered, gently running his fingers through Quinn’s hair.
“You’re sweet,” Quinn breathed out. “Can you keep doing that… it stops the spins.”
Niall hummed, “of course.” He ran is fingers through her hair again.
Quinn sighed, pulling the duvet up to her chin. “You’re the best, Niall.”
