anyone have any slightly unusual animal suggestions? to give you an idea of unusual, these were my four most recent obsessions

fossa, sturgeon, harpy eagle and genet

I’m trying to give myself more variety in my references diet.

I’ll also accept plants, particularly flowering ones, and I dunno, nature facts? (I’ve been trying to make a coyote-badger tandem hunting piece for ages)

years ago I made this like species of magical cats with antlers bc i wanted to make smth like warrior cats and my little pony

anyway this is aurora starstep and moonboy (just moonboy) aurora is a priest but fake (his antlers arent real & he has no magical/spiritual ability) and moonboy is obsessed w the moon princess but she's (believed to be) dead so he goes to priests to try and speak to her. hence the name. miraculously aurora has been the only one so far who can reach her 🤔

trying to do an oc design revamp and he was originally like an ambiguous shapeshifter canine (furry ofc) but i want to do some more interesting stuff w his species.. i want him to still be generally recognizable as himself (to me, barely anyone else would remember him) and not just a completely new guy tho.. but it turns out that ambiguous canines look better with ram horns (his old design) to me than a lot of other species. i may have to give up the ram horns if i want them on like, a fossa

#having a mix of species in his design is his Thing since again shapeshifter but his old design was super basic #rn im messing w dif versions of coyote / fennec fox/ snake / reindeer / ram / fossa (or mixes of those) revamps for him #nothing is hitting tho .. coyote is the closest to his old face design and i dont think i have any coyote ocs rn #but surely i could find smth more interesting than canine. but i love canine #ocs

ALSO THEY LOOK LIKE A CAT MATED WITH ITS DOG AND WAS GENETICALLY SPLICED WITH A WEASEL AND THEN THEY GAVE IT BODY BUILDER ARMS, WHAT IS THIS THING, I LOVE IT

I love him <3 Obviously there's some fusion, as well as some uhh loose joints. Tog's got a nice skull, though the temporal fossa is quite deep, makes me worried he got bumped there:( His pelvis has lost the shape a bit but looks like it's got the holes in the right places. He's got good leg bones, maybe a bit off on the tarsals but the tibia/fibula arrangement is very nice. Not enough carpals but the arms in general are okay 6/10 Me and Tog are both hanging on by a thread!
