There's something about the idea that gods change according to belief.
There's something about Aphrodite having to drop her sword and shield and pick up a makeup brush and mirror.
There's something about Zeus's Crown overtaking his hospitality.
There's something about Ares being scrubbed of his care with blood.
There's something about Hera's care being thrown in her face because of her cruelty.
There's something about Dionysus having his artistry and wildness ripped away from him due to his partying.
There's something about Hermes losing his chthonic connections in favour of his trickery.
There's something about Demeter surrendering her fierce, protective love and power over life and death to become a hysterical mother.
There's something about Athena's femininity and protectiveness fading to make her grip her spear and grasp her thoughts tighter.
There's something about Hephaestus forgetting his creations' finesse and intricacy to focus on pure function and efficiency.
There's something about Poseidon's earth-shaking rage that causes waves to rise above the tallest mountains being reduced to occasional vengefulness.
There's something about Apollo giving up his herds and truth and wisdom and plagues to speak the future and heal the wounded through song.
There's something about Artemis turning from children and childbirth to fixate on the wilderness.
There's something about the idea that gods change according to belief.

I was rereading The Blood of Olympus today, and I realized how much I just do not like Piper.
Whenever Piper is in a chapter, to me it feels like she’s always being pushy, selfish, or overprotective. Also, it may just be me with this opinion.
When Piper is in the temple of fear with Annabeth, Piper is the one who takes control of the situation. In my opinion the way Rick explained it didn’t make sense. Annabeth is the one who is always calm and collected. Even with trauma. Piper is the one who acts on impulse and what she wants, (as displayed when she jumps down the chute even though Annabeth warns her not to). Although this action may have been necessary to the mission, it what reckless.
Also, despite Piper knowing something is up with Leo, continues to treat him like a third wheel and as someone who could be sacrificed. It just doesn’t make her a likable character.
As my last little tid-bit on this topic, Piper committed crimes before becoming part of the seven. I don’t think this should be ignored as a part of her character. It shows how much she craves attention and isn’t above breaking the law to get it. There is certain things that are *somewhat* understandable for not having attention from your parents, but never should breaking the law be considered okay to do because of that.
Who knows, maybe I’m reading her character wrong but that’s the way I see her. Please dissect this.
I just want to say that, as someone who has been trying to keep it down to only Nico, to receive an ask specifically about another character I've paid no attention to surely is an experience lol.
Anyway. Let's see. From your words, Piper doesn't seem to be a likable character, which is to be expected. As far as I'm concerned though, Piper, as a character, just does not interest me enough for me to form an opinion. I'm more of a "eh whatever" or "oh. cool" when it comes to her. It also does not help that I haven't read The Lost Hero, and my brain just straight up auto-deletes everything that's not Nico-related, so you can say my grasp of Piper McLean is limited at best and non-existant at worst.
If there's anything I remember about her, then that'd be the times I had to skip some pages of her and Jason (like I did to Percabeth, bc I disliked romantic scenes with everything in me and that's nothing new).
With that being said, as someone technically blank, I feel that your dislike to Piper is already set in stone, so there's no changing to that, and it's not like you need to change anyway. I wouldn't like such a character in your description either. 😂😂😂
About that scene of Annabeth and Piper, (keep in mind that I am not aware of that scene but directly referencing it through your retelling) I think what Rick was trying is to make Piper a direct contradiction to Annabeth in terms of action repertoire - a type of recklessness to the latter's meticulousness.
(Wow Percabeth and Jiper are actually a square full of contradictions)
However. The line between 'bold, risk-taking' and straigh-up stupidity is but a fine line. I will not judge Piper without properly re-reading the whole thing (which I won't), but I can see where you get it from.
I just want to say a few words about the last part. The thing about Piper's criminal record.
I understand that, from a reader's point of view, it'd be unlikable for a character to commit a crime, specifically, to "gain attraction". Though, while the action itself is inexcusable, it should also be acknowledged that Piper - like 90% of the PJO cast - was a teenager, who grew up with barely any parental guidance (or at least that's what I remember). A figure as such is bound to make mistakes, as well as cause debates over their likeliness. I do agree that what Piper did was wrong (I mean. that's like. the law), however there's a reason and background to said wrongdoing.
It's not okay, nor is it right to do so, but it's understandable. That's all.
That is to say: fuck it. I have been resenting Percy since the day I read PJO, you can dislike Piper all you want. We're just humans, not saints. Just don't go around shitting on people with different likes then you're good to go! 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️😂
While we are at it, I'm quite curious as to how this was "ignored as a part of her character". I'm guessing that Rick failed to incorporate Piper's background into her own character as she's developed? Then that's not Piper's fault. That's just Rick and his YA writing lmao.

Hm. Time for me to throw some more spaghetti at the wall: pjo hyperfixation edition
Dan:
- unclaimed or a minor god, literally no other options allowed he’s Lonely Boy. C’mon
- Dan as a son of Nemesis has an Energy but I can’t really expand on it other than that. Good vibes ig???
- Also Calliope, muse of epic poetry. Any of the Muses would be relatively appropriate for Dan, but Calliope is specifically most associated with what we would know think of as storytelling, so, like. Author boy. I like this one better on account of uh,,, having reasons
Serena:
- theoretically appropriate godly parents include Apollo, Aphrodite, and Zeus
- I think Zeus is definitely in terms of the Helen of Troy of it all—the Importance, the way she draws people to her, the being every woman ever and also just the one—rather than in terms of having a relationship to his domain. Also I could definitely see Lily going for him
- Aphrodite is, I think, kinda obvious, while Apollo comes around to the golden girl, the way light is always so relevant to Serena as a concept
- But I think that Hermes would be the most interesting and fucked up. She runs away from everything and she has no home. God of travelers baby <3 also Serena forever being surveilled and interpreted vs god of messengers
Nate:
- son boy!!! (Like serena: sun boy!!! If you’re into that. Personally no. Or Aphrodite bc it’s Nate and he’s so fucked up by people thinking he’s beautiful. He’s so fucked up in general)
- My personal pitch is actually for Dionysus! Actor!Nate? We see it in canon and we see him go a little nuts about it (when theatrical) and make a joke about how he actually acts all the time for everyone else (when cinematic)
Blair:
- She is,,,, difficult.
- I do think it would be fucking hilarious to have her as a child of Ares. On the other hand, her form of War much more suits Athena—and Blair is um… really fucking smart? She loves her tactics and her cleverness
- Aphrodite because it’s fucked up (again) but in a different, more intense way—Blair wants to Be Enough to fool everyone into liking her at all times, and that means performing beauty. And also she is such a romantic which has this flip side of like,,, no she really believes in love. She really does
Vanessa:
- Okay look i could pretend to explore some other options here but I think it’s blatantly obvious that she’s a child of Apollo
- He’s the god of the arts? She makes movies! Maybe they’re documentaries but they’re a heck of an artistry anyway and she’s shown to have a love for the whole of the concept and other stuff like music (taking Nate to Ruby’s concert) and paintings (helping out at the gallery)
- Also he’s the god of knowledge and prophecy and like,,,, Vanessa is the one who knows what going on and that it’s Not Good

tldr: ummm we never will see how strong the demigods get bc according to lore they’ll be even stronger in adulthood
aka a very long piper charmspeak ramble …… it’s come to this.
one thing my suspension of belief has worked hard day and night fighting for years is the fact that demigods in pjo attract monsters especially when young because they’re weak enough to be prey to them. fine. that’s ok. but something also that is true is that piper & leo both grew up to age 15 which even hedge mentioned was extraordinarily old already for demigods not to have been disturbed (hera’s hold on leo aside) kind of means monsters scented them to be extremely strong even w/o training or awareness, something that never even happened to any other demigod. that is ok too, they’re part of the seven whatever.
secondary to this is the fact that when demigods grow up, specially greek, they leave camp to try to live their own lives in the mortal world and can do so freely bc it’s implied they are strong enough monsters leave them alone/can fend for themselves. notably all done solo - ignoring the random crack celebs mentioned in demigod diaries. that is also fine. who cares. there are allegedly grown up/possibly elderly demigods (not legacies) in new rome. we don’t know them. ok.
EXCEPT this just opens up the door to the other implication that a demigod’s growth over time never really plateaus until much later in their years - meaning the kids in hoo now in teen years are nothing compared to their powers when they’re actual adults. and we won’t ever really see how the powers will develop.
since the seven are already above and beyond the cream of the crop in terms of abilities, what comes next has to be refinement (been a sec since reading hoo so ignore if these have been explored already lol): leo being able to control fire outside of his own body - which goes for other elemental-control types like percy with his water (do not mention bloodbending to me ummm copyright..) or jason (rip) with his lightning.
there are loads of reasons why nico & hazel within lore and also past canon can’t just cheat death but still so much within their death-related power can be pretty flexible. hazel earthbender metalbender truther btw. reyna’s power strengthening probably gets even crazier too. annabeth… love u baby girl go be megamind and be free.. frank can turn into a dragon. um that itself was crazy ig but i just can’t think of the furthering of shapeshifting so im gonna be quiet on him.
and let me SAY SOMETHINGGGGG. this is a piper mclean “joining the war on piper on the side of piper” blog. okay. but consider the fact that she CAN charm monsters and minor gods/sorceresses (medea specifically) and obviously the biggest contender being a whole titan. all before the age of 17.
i read the burning maze only ofc lol and one thing that struck me was that at that point in the narrative shes been charmspeaking for maybe 1 year?? max? and there was the one scene where she used charmspeak on 3 grown men before they went on caligula’s boats and she sort of half-fainted because she wasn’t used to doing that many people. and additionally this is a sometime after gaea. so where is the meter of growth here?
her power is not an elemental one (percy, leo, nico) or self-affected (frank, annabeth). funnily enough it might be closer to reyna, whose powers affect other people (can she power up herself??) and maybe a magical one that’s pretty freestyle like hypnos/hecate. but those seem to have guidelines and levels of known power too.
this is all coming from me just having reread the very first scene in mark of athena where piper was practicing her words to the roman’s and annabeth, just overhearing a little, felt compelled already. piper can control her power/enhance it, but isn’t shown in canon to even think if it affects others in her vicinity. also maybe doesn’t even know the depth of the effect.
past the age of 18, when a greek demigod is implied to move out bc they’re strong enough already not to need protection, piper would have evolved her charmspeak past all her past feats already. with the others, their limits seem pretty clear. hers isn’t?
here are the rules i feel like she has in canon: she can’t command inanimate objects or things/beings that can’t hear her period. huge crowds like the scene in new rome (brick jason scene) were difficult to control. but again, she can compel more than three mortals as of the maze book. so if with age she could charmspeak to a larger masses that would be pretty believable, even if difficult. say that she can’t make someone do something out of their own power, like asking a mortal to do a demigod feat. it still leaves a lot of open room there.
so even theoretically, she can touch a lot of realms of power here, not even in the vaguer way a hecate kid might. can she compel river gods/naiads into moving water for her? other elements with spiritual reps? can she ask the dead to come back to life? is that even in her scope? she wouldn’t do any of these things obviously, since it flies into a moral panic a little. can she ask someone to go mad and crazy and they will? i just said she couldn’t do inanimate objects, but what if that only excluded inorganic matter? can she ask a seed to sprout?
i say ask but she never has to ask. she just needs to speak. now imagine that at her peak ability.
if she can barely control charmspeak slipping out when she was a teen in the hoo books, I genuinely don’t know how she can walk around as an adult without anyone hanging onto every single word she says. or maybe bc she’s older she can control it much better, but it still implies refinement on a scale she never grasped canonically.
ignoring the greco-roman tragedy that is the tlh trio, writing her out of the narrative (and concurrently out of the world of demigods) like riordan did is kinda crazy because you’re just gonna let a charmspeaker run around like that?? haven’t you watched gen v….. oh wait.
i don’t want a time skip in riordan’s 84th random ass spin-off series that’s not what im saying at all.. I just want to speculate on my own.
piper is lucky enough to be surrounded with masses of people who love her, so she isn’t ever in danger of ever becoming an antagonist. remember how even hazel gets mad at jason’s coffin when he dies and “leaves piper”? or annabeth’s first thought when jason dies is how sad she is for piper. mellie & hedge also choose to move with her. the list goes on. she is a top priority.
what really strikes me in how we last see piper is that she has a support system enough to be satiated to never need to come back again to the demigod world. jason got cremated in new rome and she wasn’t at the funeral. leo is off god knows where. she’s close with annabeth, but they don’t have to be at either camps to be close.
what im getting at here is how much of piper’s relationships with people and their protectiveness over her is her power spilling out versus real connection. that is so nasty of me to bring up ofc bc piper is theeee girl and all but imagining the fallout of her realizing something to the effect of her influencing people very close to her without her knowing.. she could retreat further. that’s fully speculation though. no need to panic..
conclusion: piper’s powers hadn’t reached its peak in canon and may never have a real cap to her abilities unless there’s extensive trial and error well into her adulthood. no matter the outcome, she may not even want anything to do with the demigod world anyway.
disclaimer: mentioned some canonical rules here but also haven’t reread the entire hoo series in many many years I might be offbeat and wrong. ooopssss..
sorry if u read all this I can’t give you your time back. i am writing something abt this though. or sorry again if that turns out to be a lie cuz I don’t post it. well.

I wanna hear the Dom/sub discourse!!! Also love ur blog :) (I personally am a proponent of dom percy just bc I like that idea but I’d love to hear yours!!! I didnt even know there was discourse!) love to hear your thoughts and again super cool blog!!!! :’)
* ALSO WOULD LIKE TO CLARIFY IF IT WASNT ALREADY ESTABLISHED BUT ONLLLLLLY IF THEY ARE LIKE IN THEIR OLDER 20S!!!! ppl doing that in the context of teens is *gross* (previous anon who sent in the ask before) :)
Oh! Thank you for the compliments. I’m still not used at being so visible now to people 🥺😥😅
Good that you’ve added your points because that essentially brings down my issues with this whole spiel. I guess I’m going to play the other card. My main issues with this whole thing are:
A) the fandom sexualizing kids
B) people not understanding that looks/behavior in or outside of a (romantic) relationship don’t necessarily have to correlate with sexual behavior, especially when powerplay is involved
Of course Percy is easier to grasp for us. We have five whole books where we hear his every thought, follow his every move and think we get to know him (that automatically makes Percy not a reliable narrator, just saying).
For every book quote that puts Percy into the „Dom“ slot, there’s also a book quote that would be fitting for Annabeth (the dance from TTC comes to my mind). I can see both going either way. Despite them having mostly different personalities (Percy internalizing his thoughts and motives, whereas Annabeth is doing rather the opposite), they are very similar when it comes to leadership and end goals. Annabeth can range from emotional to bossy in a similar way Percy does. They just express themselves on different levels and get seen by outsiders in different ways.
Did you catch that? Did you see the hypocrisy that I just committed? We are using book quotes to justify placing characters that are in that context and in overall canon minors/teens/essentially fucking children in sexualized categories. Tbh, as much flag as you can give Riordan, I can’t blame him for blocking people who do this. Not every author is a fan of fanfiction and fan theory and what not.
People throwing these BSDM terms around without a second thought makes me cringe (tbh, I’m too lazy to explain the psychology of power play and kinks in that regard, just know that the instigator is not automatically the top/dom and there are many, many, many layers in a pp relationship). You cannot base sexual behavior from the canon itself. We know nothing about Percy and Annabeth in that regard to even justify the slightest. Ripping actions out of context to give them a label doesn’t work like that so easily unfortunately.
The only way to settle this question for once and all would be by simply doing this:
Tumblr media
The whole debate that happened months/weeks ago (quarantine makes everything blurry in my memory) was just fucking stupid?
Imagine being a 15 year old, anxious, frightened girl. You’ve been deeply traumatized since you’ve been seven years old, you’re scared to death because you have a crush on your best friend and think he might perish (newsflash: of course you as the reader can foreshadow that in that context the series goes on. The characters can’t as they lack that specific insight. Percy didn’t have to wind up dead in the books, but he could have been severely mutilated, gone missing (guess he did later), bruised, etc. apart from his mental struggles. The super power part is essentially the only thing that’s keeping him alive), you give him a kiss because you’re too shy to admit your feelings for him and he’s being an awkward cheeky bastard before looking for a fight and then some adult asshole has the caucasity of calling you a bratty sub. Literally what.
Tumblr media
Some anon (or a group of anons, don’t know which) contacted a bunch of people with that Dom!Percy and Sub!Annabeth stuff. Anon, Liebste, homegirl, my love, mija, if you see this please slide into the DMs because whaddefuck? Your thought process hotdamn. Where did you pick this up? Let’s be open about this discussion. You didn’t go from A to B, you went from A to Z and robbed Jeff Bezos on the way out. I mean what???
Tumblr media
People using canon to justify their headcanons is simply something I can’t get behind in this matter. The main issues is that they are children/teens/minors in canon. There is no way around it. Trying to justify/back up some of your thoughts in that regard with actual quotes only makes it worse because you aren’t only sexualizing them in your fanon, but you are also automatically transferring these thoughts to the actual books and thus fore sexualizing them in canon. You’re changing the basis and narrative.
I honestly don’t get the obsession that some have with their teenage sex life? This isn’t a personal attack on people but I’ve seen this throughout several group chats and social media platforms like Twitter, Reddit, Pinterest even and of course Tumblr. And popular stuff like Riverdale, Euphoria, 13 Reasons Why and New Adult Twilight rip-offs á la Shades of Grey and that Harry Styles fanfic honestly don’t help with the portrayal of „curious“ teens.
This also isn’t a strict PJO phenomenon, it happens across all fandoms. The odd trend with sexualizing kids/teens or things intended for kids has been going on for ages. I get it, you grow out of the related audience but that doesn’t justify the means? Canon won’t change simply because you do.
Percy and Annabeth are awkward teens that have never dated anyone else and had barely half a year between pjo and hoo before getting caught up in another mess. I’m not saying that teens aren’t curious and don’t experiment, some do drugs and/or have sex (let’s be real the probability of something happening in the stable scene in MOA is very high) but still? Putting dom/sub labels on them is sketchyyy. Also throw your fucking sex god headcanons out of the motherfucking window. They are 17-ish, if you need the mental image of some weird kids flopping on top of each other for two whole minutes for some odd reason, good for you but I’m side eying the fuck outta you.
You can’t really blame Riordan for not being more explicit. A) the series is for middle schoolers (aka kids), so it’s not strictly Young Adult and there’s only so much you can do B) publishers/editors interfering is a thing (especially with society’s views of sex = bad and violence = just fine) and c) the probability of sexualizing the characters of his own creation in that sense might have made him uncomfortable. Better to play safe, than end up with a bigger mess, just saying. I’m all for the sex talk in a non-berating, (slightly) educational approach when it comes to that in non-adult literature. Or even just stating a sex scene in a mere sentence. (Karen M. McManus did an amazing job with portraying struggling teens with a right approach in One of Us is Lying. Stating it or making it very, very, very clear between the lines. Then again, not everyone can pull that off or wants to go in that direction).
In addition to that, seeing stuff like the infamous ”the sea doesn’t like to be restrained“ or ”Percy has handsome features which shifted from humor to anger“ quotes getting constantly shredded is so… Meh. One simple question: what does Percy having a mean resting bitch face to do with his sexuality/sexual behavior? What does him being annoyed and on the moodier side have to do with it? For me absolutely nothing. The correlation isn’t really clear and out there. Pissed Percy doesn’t translate into Percy automatically being the dominant (in Percabeth’s sex life)?
I mean I get it. We all grow up. Erotica is a wonderful genre and art form (if you waddle through the trash). You will never be able to get that out of fiction and fanfiction. That’s also neither my goal nor my place to decide. As cheap and stupid as it is, I’d rather have people intentionally aging the characters up and stating their headcanons in that regard rather than people attempting to abuse canon where the characters are minors in order for sexualizing them. There’s no good way to prevent this from happening unfortunately (unless you really want to abolish all explicit fanon stuff).
Whenever you post a sexy headcanon just hold on for a second. If you have abstract future headcanons sure, go ahead, personally don’t see a problem with that. But if you use source material to fixate your thoughts on minors in canon to give them sexual labels… I urge you to seriously rethink that.
Stop sexualizing minors. Please. Pretty please.
Peace

hi, in (/post/169929237436/pipersgay-alfie167) mentioning Billie Ng. Ng would be most likely a Vietnamese surname (though it can be Chinese but its not that likely), It's def. not a Korean one. + kpop stars they can be any east or south east asian ethnicity not just Korean. Ex: Bambam, Lisa= Thai; Kun= Chinese; Yuta= Japanese. Thxs. ~a Asian american kpop & pjo fan
i see what you mean anon but in that specific post i think last names were not mentioned on purpose? at least that’s my understanding of it bc i think op’s intent for writing it was to explain how the use of the term “asian” when what you actually mean to say is “eastern asian” is a bad thing to do, like “asian” is way too broad of a term and it can’t be applied as a definition of a character’s race/ethnicity. that’s always been my take of that post but please let me know if i’m wrong!

thanks for tagging me, @iamthefacebehindthemask!!! (I always get really excited when I see you tagged me, I love these things)
i’m not sure who to tag though... if there’s any writers who want to do this count this as me tagging you
1. How did you come up with your username and what does it mean?
vagarious: erratic and unpredictable in behavior or direction
I just took out the “o” lol. It’s kind of ironic now bc I’m pretty predictable when it comes to fics...
2. Which fanfic of yours has the most feedback? (bookmarks/subscriptions/hits/kudos)
Subscriptions: crumble; throw, which is one of my only multichap works and like the only one i’ve actually updated... still have to get out that last chapter though iT WILL HAPPEN
Hits: housework, a short kurokage fic which for some reason has 1711 hits
Kudos/Bookmarks: phones, which is my free/hq wrong-number crossover fic with 264 kudos and 42 bookmarks (it was a lot of fun to write)
3. What is your AO3 profile icon, and why did you choose it?
N/A (oops)
4. Do you have any regular/ favorite commenters?
odoridango and bystander have commented on a lot of my hq!! fics (thank you!!!!!) and horchata has written me some of the sweetest comments ever. And all my boueibu fics tend to have the same few commenters @nardaviel @mystofthestars @thatlittledandere @angelluckovich kakera
5. Is there a fanfic that you keep going back to read again and again?
There are quite a few, actually. Pretty much all of @fortune-maiden‘s boueibu fics bc they always make me smile, the vld fics Recoil/Release and Keith’s ‘Physical Contact’ Initiation Program, and all the gift fic people have written me and Distractions and Pliant by tastewithouttalent but they’re both enatsu smut and i’m embarrassed. I go back to pretty much all my bookmarks but sometimes I have to be in a certain mood to read them, I guess.
6. How many stories are you subscribed to? How many do you have bookmarked?
24 subscriptions, 108 bookmarks
7. Which AU do you find yourself writing the most?
um... slice of life aus, I suppose? most of the stuff i write is loosely canon compliant now that i think about it...
8. How many people are subscribed and bookmarked to you in total? (you can view this on the stats page)
27 user subscriptions and 477 total bookmarks (to works)
9. Is there something you’d like to write about but are afraid of people judging you for it? (Feeling brave? If so, share it!)
My more outlandish crossovers, I suppose. like dark!boueibu x vld
10. Is there anything you would like to be better at? Writing certain scenes or genres, replying to comments, updating better, etc.
I’d like to get better at writing fantasy/adventure. And actually writing longer fic. (I can usually plan it out but have trouble actually getting the words on paper when there’s just so much stuff and a majority of the time the fic veers off and i have to plan again...)
11. Do you write rarepairs or popular ships more often?
Rarepairs, I think. Or relatively popular ships in small fandoms :P
12. How many stories have you posted on AO3 to this day (finished and unfinished)?
48 (!!!)
13. How many stories do you have saved in/with your writing program?
oh god... too many... and they’re spread throughout three devices + an online drive
14. Do you write down story ideas, or just keep them in your head?
I mostly jot down snippets and lines and other small ideas like that to incorporate/develop into a fic later on. And I’ll layout longer fic if I intend to write said fic. Though there’s some things (mostly AUs and crossovers) I don’t intend to write but keep in my head to keep my thoughts warm.
15. Have you ever co-authored a story?
No, but I have participated in collaborative things like the free! shipping relay and hqbb
16. How did you discover AO3?
I honestly don’t remember.
17. Do you consider yourself to be a popular or famous author in your fandom(s) on AO3?
haha no
18. Do you have a nickname or fandom name for your readers?
um, if ever asked, I just say “Elena,” which is my first name, so...
19. Was there an author who inspired or encouraged you to write?
There wasn’t a specific author, but the fic catch a falling star by hoshruba is the fic that inspired me to really get into fic writing. I had written pjo/hoo fic on ffnet before then, but catch a falling star is when I started to get serious (for lack of a better term) about it
20. What writing advice would you give to a beginning author?
Like what you write. Which is crappy advice, I know, but if you write what you want to read and are happy with it, then you’ll keep writing, and when you keep writing you’ll inevitably improve, even if it doesn’t feel like it. You’ll improve bc, at least for me, the more fic I published the more I wanted to publish, and the more I had to learn how to do to write things. Ideas burst out of me at the seams. So write those short drabbles and ramble-ly one-shots and just. Enjoy them. Like what you write.
21. Do you plot out your stories, or do you just figure it out as you go?
I typically plot out longer stories, but my planning stages tend to just be random bursts of ideas and lines in an unorganized list. On the other hand, there are quite a few fics of mine that I started and finished within one sitting - it felt like they wrote themselves.
22. Have you ever gotten a bad comment on a story? If so, what did you do?
I haven’t gotten a bad comment that I remember (there are probs a few on my old fics but whatever), but I have gotten some weird/funny comments on said old fics on ffnet.
Examples:
You sweared!
What
also now that i’m looking at them most of my ffnet comments reported crying... i wrote a lot of angst and still kinda do oops
23. Is there a certain type of scene that you have a hard time writing? (action, smut, etc..)
Action. Fantasy. Fantasy action. Most things outside of slice of life, now that i’m thinking about it...
24. What story(s) are you working on now?
Too many, omg. I still have that last part of crumble; throw, and I also have an iokin fic I want to finish but it’s gotten out of hand... also a long keith (vld) fic but we’ll see how that goes. Plus all my little ideas floating around in various electronic devices.
25. Do you plan your next project(s) before you finish your current ongoing story(s)?
Um, the stories ideas kinda just... happen... and whichever I finish/start first are the ones I finish/start first.
26. Do you have a daily writing goal set for yourself?
Not a daily one, but when I do sit down to write I try to go for at least 300-400 words (though if I really sit down to write it’ll typically go beyond that)
27. Do you think you’ve improved as a writer since you first started?
Definitely (hopefully)
28. What is your favorite story that you’ve written?
an endless start of april, probably
29. What is your least favorite story that you’ve written?
There’s no fic I’ve written that I actively dislike. If I posted it, I like it, at least a little.
30. Where do you see yourself (as a writer) in 5 years?
Still writing fic, lol
31. What is the easiest thing about writing?
For me? Writing dialogue, probably.
32. What is the hardest thing about writing?
Starting.
33. Why do you write?
I first started writing because there was stuff I wanted to read but couldn’t find, so I wrote it myself. I don’t think that’s changed. I also think it’s fun to explore emotions and how they translate in to action (or lack of action).

ok so i was just informed that someone on anon apparently said that if you’re using, or if you’re saying you use, norse mythology with your muse (marvel, but i suppose with that sort of talk assume with any muse that uses norse myth stuff.. oc or canon) that uh
it’s offensive to say you’re associated with the community ??? the community being the northern pagans/odinists specifically???
lmao ok so here is what i have to say about that:
anon you can fucking suck my odin worshiping dick.
FIRST of fucking all, i’d HOPE that anon knows that there should be a heft disclaimer used in saying you’re an odinist as TYPICALLY it’s the white supremacist fascist n/azi fucks that claim that term and to say you are an odinist usually means you should have a pretty out there explanation that you are NOT one of them and are attempting to maybe take that term back. otherwise most non-racist and non-bigots use odin’s man or odin’s woman.
so giving you the benefit of the doubt here that you’re not racist, but mmmm i’m not so sure i want to considering your policing tone here buddy.
ANYWAY.... keep fuckin’ suckin it because it’s NOT offensive if someone uses the myths to write FICTIONAL THINGS. Like what are you writing rick whatshisface that wrote the pjo series and did that norse version of series and telling HIM he’s offensive? what about every other fictional use of the myths in modern media? you gonna shit on marvel?
not only was the writer fucking OBVIOUSLY playing a fictional version of frigg but even if she includes whatever she wants and how she wants to whatever fucking degree, whether you or anyone else is about it or not, you think the GODS give a shit?
newsflash motherfucker they don’t.
man odin is too busy playing a bigger game than your petty “oh no someone is writing about these ancient myths in their pretendy-fun-times stories boo boo bee boo” man odin spits on bullshit like that fuck off. odin is a god of the POEM and if you think you can shit on someone for writing something fictional while odin encourages the frenzy of a creative tongue you got another thing coming.
you got something to say about it you come to me you stupid fuck.
to the community of writers who use norse myth in any form with your writing: i don’t give a shit if you write myth well or not. i personally may or may not decide our versions of writing said myths mesh well and that’s okay bc not everyone CAN write together but even if that is the case you can god damn well believe i, a heathen and odin’s woman, would NEVER say you’re HARMING the community of fellow true believers (NOT FUCKING GROSS ASS FASCIST FUCKS THANKS) by using norse myths.
i may have my own opinions as to how much research and self-educating should be done if you’re attempting a full on myth muse or full on myth verse but if you are doing you then fine, it’s still NOT HARMFUL TO ACTUAL HEATHEN WORSHIP OF THE GODS.
eta: and you may have a faith where it makes u uncomfy to see people write fictional versions of what you believe in but then u dont have to follow and u need to take that up with u and ur gods.
