I personally see Billy, in this verse, as someone raised like Sitri, maybe being a monk/random ward in the Monastery, but Billy likes to help people (and smiles at least in the jp!version!) so maybe they would have became some sort of kickass cleric, or a member of the knights of Seiros (Rhea'd disagree at first, she doesn't want them to be hurt and would have prefered if they became a fisherman or something that would keep them away from the battlefield, but Billy makes their own decisions, and wishes to protect the monastery and the people they cares about, maybe being triggered by another assassination attempt targetted at Rhea, maybe Christophe's or someone's else).

Billy'd be good friends with knighs and members of the CoS, maybe take Cyril under their wing (as much as they can) and have wednesday evening sessions of sitting with their "like" family eating Zanado fruits, or even fishing. When they want to become a knight or know how to use weapons "to protect", they could spare with Seteth'n'Rhea and end the "training" sessions with some of Rhea's cookies and Zanado fruit juice.

If Billy's still a teacher in this verse - well, I don't think the entire "crust + church BaD" spiel affects them, hell, they might be a bit more pissed at this entire nonsense and voice their annoyance, why are those nobles blaming the church for their own failings in ruling their lands?

Maybe they can decide to travel through Fodlan to make up for the regional branches' failings (but only after Rhea got from the gremlin the promise that Gremlin will keep Billy safe!) - when Supreme Leader comes crashing down with her army?

see i don't know whether to love or hate the BOE naming conventions, bc on the one hand it's pretty neat and a direct consequence of being ten thousand years' worth of all the knowledge of humanity filtered down into this, but on the other hand, i shudder to imagine how many people have literal memes as names and they don't even know the significance of their names. like, it seems that many names seem to be drawn from culturally significant phrases (biblical/holy book lines, popular songs, national anthems) but since it's implied that they don't actually even know the meaning of their names since many of them may not speak english anymore, we as the readers (and Jod Himself) seem to be the only ones who know the actual meanings of the names.

Which honestly makes this a little hard for worldbuilding exploration bc, what merits a phrase as becoming part of a BOE name? the amount of repetition? in the early days of the BOE when this convention was started, did they have people who picked and chose what would be acceptable naming material, or did they just uncover some data files and diaries a thousand years later and say "yeah Omae Wa Mou Shindeiru is a good name for my baby, i wonder what that means?"

Insomniac MJ, I mean. I don't think she's a bad character. I think she's a fantastic character- just a terrible Mary Jane. MJ is a character with very specific history and a very layered characterization. But I guess the writers just couldn't figure out how to handle her or wanted to try something "new" but ended up just making "female character with rich history gets reduced to 'reporter'" (but then gave her many layers and a unique and interesting personality as a character anyway) and personally, I'm just saying. It should've been Betty Brant.

TBH the homonculi theory could be a bit fucked up... but then, again, to Nabateans who were also "created" by someone and not "born" (as in Sothis didn't meet a Mr. Sothis and they held hands and what not) I do not think the sheer idea of creating life from scratch is that taboo (or maybe it is since only Sothis is supposed to do it?).

In the most charitable reading, Rhea makes a "being" using her mother's recipe but since she's not her Mother Rhea's "creation" isn't a "full nabatean", then when the "being" wakes up and has a different consciousness than Sothis's, Rhea feels like she failed but, if Citrus is any indication, gives them names and let them live like random humans (or even as her own children).

I think the most "grey" factor could be Rhea's reasons and motivations to create "artificial beings", but someone already pointed out how, irl, we know some people have a baby for, at first, some sort of selfish reasons, like giving a playmate to a first born, rolling for a boy/girl, wanting to have a kid to bring a couple closer, wanting to have a heir, etc, etc.

And yet, wanting to create "a being" to be a vessel for the Goddess isn't, imo, an acceptable reason to, well, "create a being" (maybe that's what Rhea meant by breaking taboos? Or it was the sheer act of mimicking Sothis?) and yet, regardless of the reasons behind those beings's existence, as far as we know for Citrus, when they do not fulfill the role they were created for, instead of throwing them in the trashcan, Rhea loves them as their own beings, supports them as they live in her home and interact with people : aka live.

I'd find this argument rich coming from "devoted fans" especially as it is heavily implied Ionius had children either to get one with a major crest, or said children were a "consequence" of his philandering - dude had 11 I think - and who could "only watch" and close his fist (if you follow the theory that he wasn't the one who foddered them!) when said children were experimented upon.

In a series where sleazebag dads at least had one exposition line about "being good dads to their kids before possession/following an evil cult" (FE7, FE14 and FE17 iirc?) Supreme Leader has nothing of the sort to say about her dad...

Which ultimately leads to the question about what is worse, creating a "tool" and considering "it" like your own child after its birth, or fathering children to use them as tools ?

#itlogthoughts #THIS IS AN EXTREME OVERSIMPLIFICATION I KNOW but there are some similarities #imo if peaky and photon weren't there i feel like hapiara would've taken a similar route to CoA #bcs CoA had to handle a sudden amount of popularity in like. their entire school as TEENAGERS #and shano and toka already had reservations with an agency beforehand so there's that extra pressure #but i still see the similarity that half of the unit wanted to go professional; while the other wanted to stay as-is #if peaky weren't there to take the brunt of the popularity then maybe hapiara would've gone the same way as CoA did #imagine; a unit formed by first-years (one of which who had JUST transferred into the school and had no idea what a DJ let alone a DJ unit #could be) who had gotten popular and climbed the school ranks in just MONTHS #BEAT a group curated by shano (who was a former member of a legendary DJ unit) and collaborated with #THE biggest unit in school (peaky) and fought to the top of the D4Fes. rookie stages #and THEN got invited to D4Fes. AGAIN but as a MAIN ACT THIS TIME #i'm a little murky on the details and idk if CoA was invited to D4Fes. as CoA or as ScarNa and L-Eyes #(and how shano and airi's performance together shown in first mix was the result of a shuffle unit) (i think that's it?) #but my point is! HapiAra could've had the opportunity to become a “professional” unit if dj mash (can't say her name tumblr will block me) #and muni decided to push for being pros #and it could've created a rift between the group since both rei and rinku wanted to stay as-is #but neither dj mash nor muni had reservations with an agency AND they were willing to hear each other out #so since they didn't have a ton of external pressure on them; they were able to compromise as a group and keep going together #idk this post is a mess but i hope whoever's reading understands what i'm saying here HAHAHA
