This is going to be a long post of a long story of the very long eden i did not plan on going to today. Today i entered the vault at like 13:41 and told my friend i’d send a heart back once i’m done. I did not send the heart until after 15 o’clock.

I do vault, easy peasy, i sit down instead of just going home and that was the thing that started the butterfly effect.

Cutscene ends, a moth immediately friends me and who am i to deny a little bittle moth some friendship when they offer too? They latch onto my hand and honk. I head to eden, cause is that what they mean?? Do they want that??? I stand behind the barrier with them unsure, head back, they honk and friend another moth and then let go of my hand, offer hand and then drag me into eden. I named that moth preedenmoth

I only had like 110 stars, since i went to eden yesterday, but thats fine, because my moth sitting instincts are in place. I see a moth? Protect the moth. Do not let the moth get krilled.

In the eden social area i quickly change from chibi to tall since i had a feeling it’d be needed and boy, good choice cause this would be a NIGHTMARE if i didn’t do that. I mean this trip wasa nightmare anyways, but it was adorable???? Back to the story!

We open the door, enter, we’re in a lobby full of MOTHS, the leading moth ( preedenmoth) goes up the stairs... and jumps into the rocks, we all get flung with the wind until everything goes white and i’m back... and alone.

I head on thinking to myself “hey since im here might as well get the winged lights!” and when im by the door i see something in the corner of my screen-

IT’S THEM PREEDENMOTH! AND THEY JUMPED OFF THE CLIFF RIGHT BY THE END OF THE FIRST AREA!

So i go after the moth and get them safely this time to the first winged light and we go on and that’s when the real story begins.

another 5 moths appeared with us on the other side, cutscene ensues, i lit two of the moths and they flock to me. I lead them safely, everything good until the tubes and two krills area. I lead my moth and two additional moths and we’re sitting in the safe area waiting for the krill to pass, when two asshats barge in and krill all of us. I have never seen so many stars going FLYING at once! Then i light them by accident. And not asshats krilling on purpose, just moths who are a danger to themselves and everyone around. I lost two moths back then, never seen them even when i went back to find them again. RIP

I get my preedenmoth and the two dangermoths and we go on! Once again everything goes smooth until... The last area before the point of no return. The dangermoths follow me and then preedenmoth looses hold on my hand and gets noticed by the krill also leading it straight into the corridor and like 12 stars go flying and that would be satisfying if I wasn’t trying to lead moths safely.

Then the preedenmoth kept honking until i followed it to the point of no return. At which point i sighed heavily and went in, second day in a row, slightly debating just adding eden to my candle run route. You get a candle in the orbit, right? the saying "you can't help everyone" was made specifically for me when im in eden full of moths

that point was also when i made a discovery. the moth is so scared they wont go anywhere without holding my hand in the ouchie zone, so i simply held their hand and dragged them around which was cool really, up until the super ouchie zone. I emoted them to follow me then pointed towards the super ouchie zone and they started walking on their own! They grow up so fast! They were still super scared and as i went into constant rock fall, i caught them trying to hide behind a rock smaller than their height which was adorable and also super sad. And then they died and started following me as a ball of light. And then i died and i was super ready to go on... when we get teleported to one of the earlier moths! Take a shot every time i say moth

They stayed in the first eden area and were hiding behind rocks and scared of going n so we just honked at them either to get them to go faster or to reassure them, can’t speak for preedenmoth lmao, who kept trying to unlock higher friendship levels which was really impressive considering we were dead.

Then they started playing their horn, which :O !!!

that’s when i found out you can play instruments as a spirit when in eden if you stand close to the statues and keep you lit. So i started playing Memory(his theme), then lost woods, then song of storms, waterfall, trying to make them less scared to go on, which was super finicky considering i could only play when close to fire.

Preedenmoth decided to go on without waiting for others and i stayed one on one with the scared moth.

the game gave me the "move on ALONE without others?" and both times i said no cause i just felt bad for this poor poor moth, so i just played since since my moth left they seemed to stand more near the statues.

And, i may not be the brightest person, considering that after around 5 minutes of this, playing on my spirit piano it hit me.

I'VE FIGURED IT OUT! The terrified moth keeps standing near statues cause that's the only time i play so they stand then cause they're less scared this is so sad! Like it actually made me hide my head in hands!! EDEN IS SO TRAGIC TT-TT

To give you an idea how long it took for them to die, it would be me being asked around five times by the game “ DO YOU WANT TO GO ON ALONE “

I waited another 15 minutes for them to come to the orbit, considering it takes a while for new players to figure out what to do with the shiny child and then they were here! I pulled out the table, and tried talking with them... And they were japanese so no talk for me but we added each other! And now i have a moth named Scared Lost wood friend. We leave the orbit together after one last play of waterfall...

And i open the friend tab and send my friend the heart back. At 15:02.

every time i go to eden with moths i have a new story to tell.

Opinions on the BMC OBCR!

(Friendly reminder this is just my opinion! I think this cast recording is over all insanely good, I’m just being a little nit picky because I’ve loved BMC for a while. I had the privilege of seeing BMC in NYC in March, which was amazing and the live performance did influence my opinions a bit. If you have doubts about Will Roland as Jeremy, seeing it live will flip your opinions. Trust me. ❤️)

(edit: my overall opinion of this is that it’s great, but it’s trying WAY too hard. Am I the only one who thinks that the try hard sound completely erases the actual message of BMC? that you don’t have to be someone or soemthing you’re not to impress someone? I feel like the old score was just as amazing and the new actors could’ve done it justice without all of these wild changes. They basically took the creepy retro vibes out of BMC to keep up with modern broadway. I don’t have a problem with it, I just think that it erases the actual message of the show to an extent. I am so in love with Will Roland! He was wonderful live. Feel free to message me and discuss this!)

More Than Survive

- Inclusion of more dialogue is good but I kinda think it breaks up the flow a little

- Will Roland yesss, this song is actually how he sounded live, I wish you could see how incredible he looked and acted during this song

- Inclusion of the “Boyf” dialogue is cute and definitely should’ve been added to begin with

- The new harmonies on “Christineeee” where Jeremy goes up a step is so nice

- Michael’s new part is just as adorable as before, kinda sad they took out the “so own it!” line tho

- Buttt more sweet giggles from Michael makes up for it!

- I don’t like how they cut off the last Canigula so quickly to make room for the chorus singing though idk

- The louder beat slaps tho

- I don’t like how Chloe’s last “I like gay people” is isolated unlike the original cast recording

- Will gives a heartbreaking “I’m never gonna be the cool guy” performance though like damn I almost cried

- The “na na na” is now “na ahh ahh ahh” if that makes sense and it doesn’t give as much impact which makes me wanna die bc that part was so pretty

- Will’s riffs at the end make up for it

I love play rehearsal

- There’s more instruments at the start and I think a flute which is so pretty!!

- Stephanie yessss with those improved vocals

- I think the extra instruments overpower her soft sweet sound at some points in the song tho

- YESS the dialogue that’s now included yesss

- The extra instruments at the end actually add more tho I love it

- A little more dramatic

More than survive (reprise)

- ICONIC

- IM SO HAPPY THEY INCLUDED THIS

- nothing bad to say other than I’m not a fan of the weird pop-y instrumental at the end, when I saw it I think it was a little more spread out instead of included in the song but I could be wrong

The Squip Song

- Gerard’s vocals have gotten even better like yes

- The instrumental sounds about the same as the old recording which makes me glad they didn’t change it too much

- Jeremy sounds scared when he says “you got quick” and I don’t know why ? That’s kinda odd like buddy are you good

- Is rich ok like at all in this song

- The song isn’t as like soft if that makes sense

Two Player Game

- Michael sounds like wants to die when he says “apocalypse of the damned” at the start shaksksks

- BUT THIS SONG IS SO GOOD it’s another one they didn’t change very much

- The instrumental is a little more pop-y but otherwise it’s still got that retro vibe

- George was keeping it real and not changing his vocals in the song for us thank u

- Will Roland come thru with those harmonies once again

- Jeremy’s verse is really soft and sweet and I love it he just sounds done

- The extra lil video game sounds are spot on

- The “You know that you are my favorite person” lines are done so perfect but I’m sad Michael’s little giggle isn’t as prominent

The Squip Enters

- Jake’s “that freak is freaking out” isn’t that funny in this recording sjsksksksk I’m sad

- The Squip’s surfer voice was less prominent live and more realistic and I’m not sure I like it that much in the recording

Be More Chill PT 1

- The Squip has a solo part at the start!! It’s adorable

- Jason Tam yessss

- The Squip calling Jeremy Bae and Boo makes me wanna die tho

- The first part isn’t sung anymore which makes me wanna die too bc he has such a nice voice

- The Squip’s vocals in the chorus tho yes ma’am

- Instead of Jeremy saying “Jesus” he just has a lil panic attack that poor boy

- The Squip kinda sounds British in some parts of it

- You can hear George doing a funny voice for his mall character which makes me laff

- “Jerry?” —“jerry-ME” I love Will

- Chloe is a lot more pissed in this song

Do you wanna ride

- The instruments overpower Brooke in some parts

- They didn’t change the vocal lines too much but they did slow the song a bit ?

- The harmonies are really nice though come through Brooke and Chloe

- The end is also sped up a little

- Brooke’s giggle and the little French at the end was so cute

Be More Chill PT II

- “Everything about me makes me wanna die” LINE WAS SO SAD

- the instrumental build up was so incredible !!

- This is probably my favorite song for the Squip he just brings it vocally

- JEREMY’S LITTLE GIGGLE AFTER “be mORe CHILL” I CRIED

Sync Up

- This replaces the original More than survive reprise

- I don’t like how it takes Michael’s little part out of it because I think it was necessary plus the instrumental part of that slapped

- Also I think it gives us a good insight into the characters but it could’ve been placed somewhere else maybe?

- I also think the beat isn’t very uniform and is kinda messy and the dialogue is more interesting than the actual song

- It shows how nice Jeremy is tho

- I liked this song live better because the actual song just isn’t interesting enough to be a song on its own

- Jeremy and Brooke’s interactions in the song is really nice

- I love the distorted little “na na na” from more than survive though you can tell it’s slightly off

- I don’t like “head to play rehearsal” instead of “drama practice” though I don’t think it flows well

- I’m sad they changed one of my favorite songs !!

A Guy That I’d Kinda Be Into

- Once again stronger instrumental, especially guitar

- The vocal track doesn’t seem to be changed very much again thank u god

- Weird clappy sounds ??

- The harmony on “absolutely” YES

- Christine’s little breathy laugh after “I guess there’s a part of me that wants to” yes sir

Upgrade

- Brooke speaking French at the start SNSKSKSKSOSK

- I think the dialogue gives more insight into Brooke and Jeremy’s relationship

- “Jere-Bear” NAJAKAKA

- THEY TOOK THE LITTLE “damn” OUT NO

- Jake and Christine’s part is cute but it felt a little out of place for some reason and I don’t know why, like the little sad dialogue they have about Jake’s parents feels weird but it’s really

- “I’m tired of being the person everyone thinks that I am” feels like it should’ve been a part of sync up instead of upgrade

- Brooke saying she was happy Jeremy looking at her instead of Chloe first made me wanna bawl

- Also it makes me wanna punch Jeremy

- Poor Jenna got like 1 like in this song

- I feel like it wasn’t smooth transition into Loser Geek Whatever at the end I don’t like the whole weird chorus thing leading into it at all

- Feels out of place without Michael’s little part at the end, I’m sad they’re cutting significant Michael parts, I know they kept it in LGW but it felt more in place in upgrade

Loser Geek Whatever

- It’s great and Will re recorded it for the album because it seems to have more emotion and be more genuine

- He sounds super excited at the start and it makes happy

- One of the few songs that managed to keep BMC’s kinda creepy computer tech vibe which is weird because it wasn’t even in the original album I wonder if it was written newly or was a draft from the first run back in 2013-2015

- A little more upbeat but in a good way

- Will’s vocals sound a lot better than the first recording

- Extra beeping at “my one real friend” was nice

Halloween

- Brooke does a little bark at the start awe

- The beat doesn’t go as hard as the OG cast recording which sucks bc it went hard

- Everyone kinda sounds like they wanna die at the start again which seems like common theme??

- The chorus doesn’t slap either what

- The song also got cut a little short I think unless I’m crazy but I feel like it was longer than this?

- Extra verse at the end and I don’t really like it

- Kinda boring now and doesn’t give you a panic attack vibe like the OG one did

Do You Wanna Hang

- Only song where they changed a lot that made it better

- Included the dialogue at the start which makes the song make more sense

- The Squip’s Voice is so smooth ssnskskskw

- Chloe’s losing her mind a little but I love it

Michael in the Bathroom

- Jesus George’s vocals OWN MY WHOLE ASS

- He’s only gotten better somehow

- No to the new pop-y sounds in it it takes sad creepy feel out of it

- Too much instrumental added bc it doesn’t sound like ballad anymore

- I dunno how I feel about it because George’s vocals are perfect but the instrumental is doing him dirty and not making it sad enough

- This song gives me anxiety now wjsjsksks and I don’t know if that’s good or bad?

- The few lines and instrumental lines are the same as the OG which is good

A Guy That I’d Kinda Be Into (reprise)

- SO HAPPY THEY INCLUDED THIS TOO

- Whoever’s playing that flute was told to play that shit LOUD

- Jeremy’s “Christineee” omg he’s so in love

The Smartphone Hour

- The new instrumental sounds at the start sound bonk

- The phone sound effects make me wanna die dndkjssk

- Tiffany Mann’s voice COME THROUGH

- The “whoaaaa” was changed which makes me sad

- I’m glad they specified it was Jake’s house because when I listened to the OG one at first I was like did he just burn down a random house ??

- The dialogue between Chloe and Brooke is kinda dramatic now but it’s not a bad thing

- KATHYLN CARLSON’S VOICE IN HER SOLO CHORUS YES SIS

- the whistle noise has gotta go that’s what my track coaches whistle sounded like when I wasn’t running fast enough

- I’m scared now the dance break sounds like salsa music

- “Matches, ashes” was changed to “drama, drama” girl what

- Brooke’s screams yes

- The random auto tune voices in the back are trying to capture the creepy vibe that this song originally has but isn’t doing it

- This song isn’t changed much though and still has the OG vibes which is good

The Pants Song

- The weird piano at the start scares me

- The lyrics have changed a bit too

- I’m not too familiar with this song because I don’t listen to it so often but it doesn’t sound too different from the OG cast recording which is good instrumental wise

- The chorus sounds different though I don’t know how I feel about it

- The “Michael in the bathroom” melody playing in the back during the dialogue YES

- Omg the dialogue where Jeremy’s dad tells him to say it like he’s in the army omg I’m weak

- YES THE HARMONY RIGHT AFTER RHAY DIALOGUE

The Pitiful Children

- My fav song

- Not this version I don’t think but

- I don’t mind the lyric changes but I think it takes the dark creepy techno vibe out of the song

- If it was anyone other than Jason Tam singing this version I wouldn’t like it

- The chorus lost its punch with this new pop sound

- I’m really confused as to why the lyrics had to change tho these make less on an impact, I think a solo song with Jeremy and the Squip about Christine would’ve cooler

- The Squip and Jeremy’s harmonies tho like fuck me up

- The techno voice singing “lets save the pitiful children” is eh like it makes it cheesy

- I’m scared of the Squip singing “Squip Squip Squip”

- “Everything about us” run is still amazing as always

- I just realized the Squip is using Christine to manipulate Jeremy into squipping everyone that makes sense that’s why the lyrics are changing

The Play

- The dialogue at the start is different but it makes sense, it’s Jeremy realizing the Squip made him Squip the whole cast

- The instrumental sound is the same thankfully

- “Michael makes an entrance” sounds like Michael wants to die is he good

- It adds Michael and Jeremy’s fighting dialogue in it which I like and adds the two player game melody in the back

- Jake’s “living the upgrade” line was cut short :((( I love his voice

- They changed the “having sex” convo between Brooke and Chloe which doesn’t make it relevant to that scene anymore ?? But they also validate each other so idc

- The “I love play rehearsal” melody playing when Christine talks yes ma’am

- “I’m stronger than you think I am” I LOVE JEREMY

- The LGW melody playing when Jeremy is telling the Squip to fuck off

- Jeremy and Michael saying “oh god” back and fourth to each other in different tones of voice is an accurate representation of having a best friend conversation

Voices in my head

- The start sounds like pac-man and I’m so here for it

- RICH HAS HIS LISP YES QUEEN also his harmonies !!

- This instrumental is kept pretty much the same too which I’m happy about

- “Don’t dump her on Halloween” BYE I love u Brooke

- “We are your squad” AWE

- It’s so pure

- The second verse has some lyric changes but I like them more

- LGW melody is playing when he and Christine talk which is so soft bc he’s like owning being a loser?

- The “bowling alley performance art” line wouldn’t make sense if you haven’t watched the show but it’s cute

- The loud flute is present again shsksksksks

- Awe the ending harmonies are soft

- The Squip was tripping balls in the end of that wtf

- The “na na na” runs at the end don’t sound like the more than survive ones sjsksksk

- “You ready?” I LOVE

The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening remake

-Note: It’s kind of embarrassing to admit but my comments around the visuals of A Link to the Past and Link’s Awakening are straight-up incorrect. The two games did not share the same visual style and I honestly don’t know why I said that; I most definitely knew better. Still, I’m not going to get rid of it because the internet needs more examples of people admitting to be being wrong.

I say a lot that I want to be positive, but it’s really gonna be hard with this one. See, at the latest Nintendo Direct it was announced that they would be releasing a remake of the 26 year old game, The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening. As it happens I was already considering writing something about this game in a “Games from my Childhood” article, but that would actually have been positive! This one is… well, I’m going to at least try and balance every negative with a positive.

-at least the title screen looks good-

So where to begin: I won’t cover the story because spoilers but how about some personal background? The game came out a year before I did (ha! bad jokes) and I have no idea when I got my grubby little paws on it, but it was a part of my life genuinely for as long as I can remember, along with the Pokémon games. I never completed it as a child, but my memories of it were so good that I returned to it as an adult and completed it, learning its sad secret.

-hey! according to this it released the same year I did; me getting my years mixed up I guess-

Link’s Awakening (LA) was originally a pet project made outside of work hours which is why it borrows resources from other games such as the Mario series, but it was eventually released to critical acclaim. The gameplay is much the same as its immediate predecessor A Link to the Past (LttP), but with a number of new items and a unique soundtrack. Visually it is much the same as well, although its original release was black and white for the GameBoy with Link’s Awakening DX adding colour for the GameBoy Colour.

So let’s start with the visuals as that is most of what we have right now: the original shared its visuals with LttP what with them using the same assets (tools, resources etc) and LttP had a sequel recently that looked really nice. But the upcoming LA remake looks nothing like it; I wouldn’t expect it to but when a defence of the artistic choice is that “it’s an update of the original graphics” (so why not use the assets from the LttP remake?) or that it somehow “reflects the atmosphere of the original” except there’s no reason for it to be any different to, again, the LttP remake. And in response to the “atmosphere”, LA was one of the darker yet in some ways more whimsical games; this new style is childish to the extreme.

Don’t get me wrong, I love something that is good and childish, but there is a level when it stops being great and starts to feel like they condescend to the player. Bright colours, simple faces, high pitched noises- Oh god the noises!! I’ll expand on the sounds later but I’m still on the visuals. I’ve heard the game described as looking like Claymation, which isn’t wrong, but my immediate thought was that it looked like cheap plastic. And after watching it again and again as I discussed it with a friend, this opinion stuck.

-tell me this doesn’t look like claymation; this isn’t a game, it’s an animated short film-

You know how shiny and tacky cheap plastic usually looks? Imagine an entire game like that; an entire world like that. Fans of anime may understand what I say next, but there is a large element of “chibi” in this new game. Large head, tiny body. It’s often seen in short 4 minute spin offs of popular series.

-as you can see, chibi is hardly meant to be taken seriously-

-just to hammer things home-

So shiny plastic, silly chibi art with a soulless expression. Oh yeah, that. Link’s eyes have zero soul behind them. Zero. He’s a freakin’ monster. Have you seen those Funko Pops? You know how empty they look? Some have said it somehow reflects the original game’s art again, but back then they didn’t have the technology to make him look soulless and young me always thought he looked determined; it was really cool.

-determined; dead inside-

Okay, so I said I would try and be fair, and I have shat upon the plasticine toy-box long enough, so here’s what is good visually. The areas are actually really nice.

Ignoring the nail varnish sheen on everything, things are really detailed. There is an unfortunate trend in games, likely due to technical limitations, to have flat textures. Basically, imagine the difference between a tile or wood panel floor, and a picture of a tile or wood panel floor. But this game looks to have really tried in these areas. The grass looks thick and lush, tiles look like more than a photograph on the floor and even the flat flowers on the ground look decent. Just a shame it all looks like LEGO. Actually, a LEGO Zelda game would be awesome. But this is not that.

I haven’t explained that very well, it’s an area that I am new at but I will say that clearly a lot of care has gone into the assets and the world. It is not a lazy game in any way.

-don’t tell me those trees and rocks and- well, everything, don’t look like LEGO-

Next I’m going to talk about the sound. First of all, I’m convinced that they have artificially increased the pitch of Link’s voice so it is painfully sharp to the ears. I’ll admit, I have an unusual sensitivity to lights and sound and thus I prefer darker colours and quieter sounds; I avoid clubs like the plague and not just because I’ll likely catch it there. So maybe, just maybe, I’m noticing something that won’t be a problem for most, and is just unfortunate for me. And let’s ignore that it doesn’t match the darker tone of the game.

And the music? Also quite high pitched. And super cheery. It doesn’t have either the dreamlike or dark tones that could be expected (and just thinking of how it could be dreamlike gives me shivers; it could be so good) but is instead inanely cheery. In fact, I hope they sped everything up for the trailer and the pitch is just an unfortunate side-effect.

On the plus side, the trailer opens with a cool cinematic and I swear the music changes from a nice, cheerful rendition (I don’t dislike cheerful in-and-of-itself) of the Zelda main theme to the death squeals of various instruments that I mentioned before. On top of that, it ends on a really nice vocal version of the LA theme, Ballad of the Wind Fish. If the trailer had been the cinematic and that closing song alone then I would be beyond excited about the remake. Thank heaven it wasn’t, I’m not sure my love of the series could survive such a plummeting disappointment.

So I’ll finish here. I was originally very pleased, excited even that they had decided to remake what was a favourite, underrated and apparently forgotten game, but I kept my expectations low because I knew what to expect from these companies. I thought I did anyway. I was still disappointed. I thought I had prepared for the worst. Still, at least it gave me something to write about.

But, the game has clearly had a lot of work put into it and gameplay-wise it actually looks to flow really well so I’m sure it controls like a treat. But the visuals and music are too big of a deal for me to let slide; if it keeps up like this then it could literally be painful for me to play. Still, games do change a lot from the initial trailer to its release and I even put forth an idea of why the sound may hurt me so much here. Maybe the final game will be a lot better. Unfortunately, the things I want to be done in games and such rarely are, and I am often alone in my complaints.

And finally, yes I am aware that the famous and incredibly popular Wind Waker entry in the series also had similar complaints and became, as I said, incredibly popular. I wasn’t a part of that crowd, I was too young and honestly, Link’s Awakening was the only Zelda game I had actually played at that time.

Also, the name im using for Anxiety in this fanfic is “Enhos”, there’s no really an explanation as to why… it means “a very spiritual person who often relies on intuition for decision making” but I like it, and I feel it fits him

-0-0-0- Prologue: The quirk of a villain –0-0-0-

It all began in the town of Qing Qing, China; with news of the birth of a mysterious “Luminescent baby”

Shortly thereafter, similar phenomena popped up all over the world.

The trigger for these newfound powers was never determined, but as time progressed what was once extraordinary became ordinary, and Dreams became Reality.

Currently 90% of the population has these so called individualities, also referred as “Quirks”, allowing the birth of heroes and villains alike. Studies showed that this new humans lacked something, more concretely they lacked the second joint in their pinky toe. Those who still had that vestigial part where called Quirkless.

Enhos knew no man was born equal, his family was never really rich and by the time he was 4 he realized there was something wrong with him. He cried until his parents took the young child to a quirk specialist.

“Is he okay? Is there something wrong with Enhos?”

“Mister, will it be okay if we talked this alone?”

The man nodded, looking worriedly at his only child. They left the room leaving Enhos alone, but the curiosity of a child is something to fear and the second they left the room he inched closer to the door, close enough to hear what they were saying.

“Enhos does in fact have a quirk”

“That’s a relief”

“I must ask though, is Enhos your blood child?”

“No… my husband and I adopted him. There are no recorded names of his biological parents”

“I see…”

“Doctor, is something wrong?”

“Your child, Enhos… He has the quirk of a villain”

The young child froze; he could hear his dad angrily asking the doctor what he meant with that but it was like time itself had stopped. His ears were ringing, his vision was swimming, and he couldn’t understand a word of what the grownups were saying.

“It’s simple really; his quirk allows him to manipulate people’s fears and use it to incapacitate them. I strongly recommend you bring Enhos weekly to some facility that can teach him how to repress his power. It’ll be better if he doesn’t use his quirk”

The second the doctor and Enhos’ parent entered the room they found the small child curled on in himself and inside a purple energy ball, Jeremiah ran to his son but the second his hand made contact to the energy ball both him and Enhos screamed. Enhos out of pain and Jeremiah out of fear, it was like his worst phobias were being thrown out at his face.

“Bring someone with a cancel quirk, now!”

It took a few seconds for someone to come into the room running, but when they saw the situation they pushed their hands near the energy ball and concentrated. A small golden light started emanating from their hands and after moments the energy around Enhos dissipated enough for Jeremiah to hug his son.

It was only a matter of seconds before Enhos calmed down, he held on to his dad crying and hiccupping while the man tried to calm him down. The thing that escaped both boy and parent was that now a small dark cloak was around Enhos shoulders, but the doctor kept his eyes on it. It didn’t look solid enough, kind of like it wasn’t sure if it should take the shape of a cloak or something else.

Jeremiah noticed the cloak when they were leaving the doctor’s office but decided to not comment about it, he knew Enhos was feeling shaky. He took his son hand and gave him a soft smile, before taking the scenery route to their house

“You where listening to the conversation right?” Enhos nodded

“Am… I a bad kid?”

“Enhos, no” Jeremiah sat down in the ground in front of Enhos and petted his son head “You are amazing my son”

“But the doctor said…”

“The quirk doesn’t make the hero, is their heart and mind that does”

Enhos stared at his parent; he wasn’t exactly sure what that meant

“M-maybe that’s a little too complex?” Jeremiah laughed nervously; usually it was Aaron the one that explained things to Enhos “What I mean is that you will always be you. Our precious Enhos, no matter what the doctor says, you can find some way to use your Quirk for good”

Enhos nodded, still a little uncertain, but if his dad believed it then who was he to doubt it?

When they gave the news to Aaron the man kneeled down in front of his son and hugged him, he raised an eyebrow in Jeremiah’s direction and discretely pointed to the cloak still hanging in Enhos shoulders but Jeremiah just shrugged

“Wanna tell me where you got that cool cape son?”

“Im not… sure?” Enhos looked confused, finally recognizing the added weight

“That’s okay, it looks good on you. Makes you look all mysterious”

“Papa is a nerd”

“Ugh, you wound me” Enhos and Jeremiah laughed, and the air felt more relaxed than in the past month.

But of course not everything was rose tinted, and that Enhos discovered during his 6 year of life. School was in full swing by then, and all the kids were showing off their powers except for Enhos because he was terrified of what could happen. Jeremiah and Aaron had decided that Enhos would only go to the facility if Enhos himself wanted, and they encouraged their son to practice with his Quirk, especially when they discovered the cloak worked as another arm, reaching up to hold or grab things, and that it worked as some sort of terror dome.

“Come on Enhos, show us! Or what, are you maybe Quirkless?”

“Im not…”

“Oh look at him he’s gonna cry again! Pathetic little Enhos, want us to call your parents again?”

“Don’t involve my dads!”

“Mom says your dads are the worst! Bleh!”

“Shut up!”

Enhos stood up from his hunched over position, he wasn’t going to allow anyone bad mouthing his parents. The child in front of him cowered a little and Enhos realized his cloak had disappeared, hanging like a shadow near the boys feets. He smirked, maybe he could-?

“Enhos! What are you doing to your classmate?”

He looked around, finally realizing that the effects of his quirk were affecting not only the kid bullying him but the ones that were surrounding them. He stared at the teacher with a panicked look in his eyes and bolted out of there. He needed to be home. He needed to center himself. He needed his cloak to go back to normal and he needed to delete this day from memory.

When Jeremiah came home he found his son curled up in the couch and crying, he sat besides the distressed boy and started petting his hair, hoping the familiar action would be enough to comfort the small child. Once Enhos calmed down he told his parent the whole story

“Maybe I am a villain…”

“No, you aren’t. You were protecting yourself and the ones you love, and that’s okay too”

“But I… I wanted to hurt him; I wanted him to feel scared”

“Why?”

“Because he was attacking you and Papa”

“You were protecting us Enhos, and that is not a bad thing”

He hugged his son and chuckled softly, it wasn’t a funny situation but he couldn’t help it

“You know Enhos? When me and you dad were little kids he used his hardening Quirk to punch a classmate in the face. Want to know why?” Enhos nodded, staring fascinated at his parent

“I punched him because he was bullying your dad. I’m home”

“Aaron! Don’t sneak up on us!” Aaron chuckled before kissing Jeremiah and ruffling Enhos hair

“Sorry, sorry. I got a call from your school Enhos, and since I think the director sucks we are changing you to a different one”

“Okay”

Enhos nodded, in his mind there was nothing wrong with it. Maybe in this new school he would have friends.

With that happy thought in his cloud of sadness he fell asleep against his dad, hoping and dreaming on better days to come

since it seems to be steadily taking over my whole brain now im just gonna let myself ramble about yugioh for a bit

idk i just keep thinkin abt how it was my favorite show when i was a kid... like not just i liked it a lot, but u know how when ur a kid u pick ur Favorite things & it’s a big deal, like i had Declared this as my Favorite Show

i honestly don’t rly even remember my experience with it in terms of my Feelings like i dont remember having a favorite character or anything like that, i just have a lot of Evidence of me liking it lmao like. u know those school folders they sell at like walmart that are themed after different shows n stuff, i had a yugioh one & it was cool af (i still have it actually, i’d get it to take a pic but it’s in my brother’s room & its almost 1:30 am). i remember my best friend at the time (like. 3rd grade) said she hated yugioh so she would always scoff at my folder lmaooo but like i knew she was wrong so

o shit i found a pic of it online tho here it is

i also got this yugioh play set for christmas once, it was like. a plastic dueling arena that u would set little monster figurines on and each player had a bunch of little orange plastic balls that they would take turns shooting at each other’s monsters until urs were the last standing, or something like that? all i have left of it are the little orange balls and a couple of the hologram projectors that went in each of the 4 corners of the arena. i wish i knew what happened to the monsters tho, bc they were actually pretty cool. there was like. a blue guy. and a gold one. i think one of them might have been the summoned skull? i think they were mostly monsters that became plot important later in the show & i’ll definitely recognize them when they show up but i haven’t gotten there yet.... im pretty sure they were basically exodia’s pals tho, like reputable monsters. the Big Boys

ofc i also have a deck of actual cards w/ such iconic features as the dark magician (which is Shiny), summoned skull, change of heart, and this one rly beat up guy i found half buried in the sand on the playground at school one day named griggle, my prized possession

oh and how could i forget, i fuckin. made my own deck of cards, it’s like a bunch of cut out pieces of scrap paper that are all different sizes & i made up a bunch of monsters and drew them & my favorite part (i looked thru it the other day) is there’s a couple cards in there with just numbers on them which i assume was either meant to be added to the monsters’ attack or ur own life points, but one of them is 500 and the other is 50,000,000,000 which is absurd i literally just wrote as many zeroes as i could fit on the paper & it shows, imagine drawing that fucking card my god. i imagine that in my mind it was like, meant to be really rare & hard to get but like. the whole deck is only like 30 cards? so i guess @ whoever faces me u better fuckinnn say ur prayers

that’s all the physical evidence i can think of, but i do have some memories..... fuck i remember watching all the new eps air on saturday mornings aaaa oh man there are a few Classique moments of the show im excited to get to, not by virtue of being particularly Good but because despite having been such a big fan of the show i like barely remember anything from it at all, so these little bits and pieces that i do have r like. exciting. im arranging them into a bullet point list

first of all, and i may be wrong, but i stg at one point pegasus drops someone thru a trap door in his castle or smth??? or someone gets thrown out a window or Something idk why this moment stands out so much but if it doesn’t happen then i will be Very disappointed (i think it was bandit keith. get fucked)

this one’s already happened a few times but for some reason a memory that stood out to me from this show is yami yugi being like “pegasus!” in his Deep Man Voice all like >:o so i was v happy to hear that. also while im here this is pretty obvious but the way he says “previously on yugioh” at the beginning of eps is great, love it, having a blast w/ that one

one saturday there was a big two-part hour long special called “joey’s betrayal” where like idk joey has to duel yugi for Evil Reasons or something and i was SO HYPE for that special bc i was like O Shit joey’s Evil now and like. this was around the time that my sister kinda stopped wanting to get up early for saturday morning cartoons lol so she was sleeping but i was So excited for the ep & i didnt want her to miss it so i left her a note on the desk in our room for her to see that had all the info abt the episode like the title & the time it would be on so u know she could like, wake up & See it & come out n watch it, but the whole thing went by & she never woke up so i had 2 go back in there & take the note down & throw it away looooooooool. but yea so im REALLY excited to get to that episode due to its Impact

eventually i kinda lost interest in yugioh & stopped keeping up with it but obvs the show kept going on w/o me & one day i turned on the tv & it was on & it was like, tristan was trapped in the body of a teddy bear or something? & i was like wow thats weird glad i stopped watching & i never looked back but now I Am Looking & i can’t wait to get to that episode, however-old-i-was me was a Fool

this one doesn’t count but i remember thinking the theme song was SO COOL (and i was right that shit slaps so hard )& being disappointed there were no lyrics i could sing along to..... except for when it was time to d-d-d-duel ofc

FUC I JUST REMEMBERED ANOTHER THING I OWNED HOW COULD I FORGET oh my godddd it was a yugioh poster that i had on my wall for so long & i am EXTREMELY sad that i don’t have it anymore, idk why i thought i could just Throw It Out like a CLOWN, but it was like. it had yugi and friends on it (tho i think one of them might have been missing, it was either tristan or tea, also i just learned how tea’s name is spelled fuckin HUH), & yugi is like, he’s little yugi & he’s got his hands & maybe part of his face? pressed up against the “glass” (the barrier separating his world from ours, keeping him Contained), i remember this detail clearly bc i looked at it a lot and learned how to draw that effect from that specific poster... anyway the best part of the whole thing is that it came from like a scholastic book fair or something so it said in big letters “it’s time to READ!” it was SO good & im DEVASTATED i don’t have it anymore........ to gaze upon its brilliance one last time....................

anyway i think thats all my yu-gi-oh related childhood memories woah why did i type out the whole ass title like that this time damn what the fuck lmaooo

rly sad abt the poster actually the more i think abt it the cuter it sounds tbh i wanna see that art again..... how could this happen.... i tried looking it up like the other stuff but i couldn’t find anything at all u_u

STRAY KIDS COMEBACK: CLÉ 2: YELLOW WOOD

Hello. I am back again with another Kpop comeback review, this time it’s with Stray Kids, yet another group that I know nothing about except that they’re under JYP, they’re apparently self-produced and they‘re rookies, debuted in 2018 I believe. I’m not too sure about that, but yeah. Now, I will admit that I already went ahead and listened to the title track, “Side Effects,” but for this review I will be listening again. Here we go.

1. Road Not Taken

Do you ever go on your instagram and just kind of start scrolling through people’s stories and you come across someone at a rave and they post a video of the music playing? That’s what the beginning of this song sounds like to me. It’s super electronic. It might just be the fact that it’s late (it’s currently 3am) but this sounds like a whole lot of noise to me. Like the kind of noise that frustrates you. My headphone volume isn’t that loud but this song is just... loud. The bass drop part was underwhelming I thought they were going to go off but they didn’t. Ok.. now another bass drop seems like. Ok ok ok I thought the bass wasnt going to drop but it kind of did. cool, i like the instrumental. .... AND NOW ITS OVE.R OK THAT was unexpected and kind of underwhelming??? i kind of expected more from a song with a lot of buildup. I don’t know. It was alright. As far as a review, I can’t say that anything about them particularly stands out. The vocals so far are pretty generic, but then again this isn’t the kind of song that showcases vocal ability. Moving on

2. Side Effects

I’m currently paused as I write this because like I said, I already listened to this song and because of that, I’m really not looking forward to clicking on this play button. This song is laughable. In fact, I actually did laugh in the middle of the song because I really couldn’t believe that this song made it past the initial producing stage. I really really want to know WHO made this and kept going. gENUINELY, why did they keep adding shit to this song. WHY. I’m genuinely shocked. It’s so bad. I don’t know how they managed to do it but they created a chaotic song that is completely offbeat, loud, and trash. All at once. But that is just what I can say from pure memory. Maybe listening to it this time will change my mind. I’m about to click play. Right off the bat, this song doesn’t make any fucking sense. Because the beginning doesn’t sound like what i remember this song to sound like, which is loud noise. AAAND THERE IT IS. 0:16. That’s when shit starts to go left. Shit starts REALLY sounding like it’s going left at 0:30. SHIT REALLY GOES LEFT AT 0:40 WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT OKDSGJHDSFJ BRO THESE MOTHERFUCKERS ARE SCREAMING IM LITERALLY ABOUT TO START HYSTERICALLY LAUGHING AGAIN BRO TEARS ARE STARTING TO FORM I CAJRDHSJDNRDKMJ WHAT TH FUVCK G THIS HAS NEVER HAPPENED TO ME BEFORE OMG NOW SHIT IS GOING LEFT AGAIN AT 1:30 BITCH LFMAKLRJIOFAN BRO IM SORRY BUT THE DUDE THAT JUST GOES OFF ALONE AT 1:30 IS SENDING ME WHY DOES THIS SOUND SO SERIOUS DFJKGJKSDHGEHEOIRGNFDJK SHITS ABOUT TO LEFT AGAIN I FEEL IT YUP 1:40 HOLY FUCK WHO IS RAPPING HE SOUNDS LIKE HOT FUCKING GARBAGE WHY ARE THEY LITERALLY SCREAMING WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS SONG ABOUT KGHSERDFKKDFJKSL THIS BRIDGE DOESNT MAKE ANY SENSE WHY DOES THIS SOUND LIKE 5 DIFFERENT SONGS WHO THE FUCK PRODUCED THIS LET ME FIND OUT THIS IS ONE OF THESE STRAY KIDS PRODUCING THIS FUCK ASS SONG BRO .... the only cool part was the one where the guy says some shit after the bridge and then the beat goes off but even that is questionable this song is hot garbage bro

3. TMT

Considering how aggressive Side Effects was, I’m genuinely scared for TMT because the title makes it sound like there will be more screaming and noise. What I’ve noticed so far about stray kids is that their music, no matter how low i put my headphones, is still loud as fuck and noisy. I dont know how the fuck they managed to do that but they did, congrats Stray Kids. Anyways, TMT just started and I don’t like how it sounds already. This rapper. I don’t know how to describe what he sounds like. By no means the worst voice, we can thank Ateez for setting that bar, but there’s something about this song that i don’t like. It’s probably the fact that it sounds so discontinuous, like they’re trying to fit 104925892 songs in one. Like, I know that Kpop is known to do that, but at least it makes sense and feels continuous. This does not. this sounds like they said, “well we have rappers and we have singers and you cant sing on a beat and you cant rap on a melody so make it work... by adding both at random intervals”. This song is not good. By my standards, of course. It’s not the worst thing I’ve heard but it’s also not something I would willingly listen to.

4. Mixtape #1

I literally don’t like this. It’s a softer sound, it’s generic like I don’t know how to describe it. It’s so uneventful that talking about it is dumb there’s really nothing to say about it. I don’t like the rapping part, and again this feels like 3 different songs at once. The rapping sounds forced. I don’t know what I expected from the same company that produced Got7, the worst rapline in kpop. Although, the more i start exploring the more I start to realize that Got7 might just not be that bad. That’s kind of sad considering Got7 is mediocre.

5. Mixtape #2

Ew this is acoustic and something tells me if they try to put a stray kids twist on this song I will NOT like it . OK the singing is aggressive as hell what the fuck. I think THATS the problem i have with stray kids so far is that nOTHING flows like, not the voices, the instrumentals, NOTHING.. JYP what the fuck you really don’t give a fuck about your boy groups you have them singing shit like this and you give them the OK to go ahead and make fools of themselves? this is EMBARRASSING this song sucks and is uneventful i am skipping.

6. Mixtape #3

The song starts with the audio tag “dope flamingo” what the FUCK. YO WHO THE FUCK STARTS RAPPING AT 0:40 SHUT THE FUCK UP. oo i like the voice after the shit rapper. here we go with more off beat shit, during the second verse it sounds like theres a fucking maraca just shaking like that had no buisness being there at all. whoever is singing “blessings waiting for YOUuUuuoouuuuuuUuuuuUUU” sounds nice. Not perfect but nice. Decent vocals. This one is ok, but i still wouldn’t willingly listen.

7. Mixtape #4

That rapper sounds like shit bro i hate that the song started like that and I cant explain why these songs sound so bad they’re just so off beat. rappers will be agressive as fuck over a cute melody?W”W?@#? IT DOESN’T MAKE SENSE. I should admit that at this point i have stopped listening. I only let it play for 45 seconds. I’m literally just tired. I don’t want to hear them anymore. Their music legit sucks. It’s off beat, loud, noisy trash. Even when it wasnt trying to be. It’s just loud trash. Im glad i stopped subjecting myself to that. i’m sorry but it sucks. At this point, I’d have to rate the groups I’ve listened to so far.
