PLATONIC HEADCANNONS: being miles morales best friend but your also a bit insane (Part 2!)

i'm gonna try to remember to start specifying when something is intended to be platonic or romantic.

🕷- I was literally unable to cram everything I wanted to say in the first one.

🕷- Miles is really only comfortable showing you his drawings.

🕷- He's an incredibly awkward guy, but the words come so easily when he hangs out with you. he doesn't choke up like he does with other people at school.

🕷- When he gets his powers his first instinct is to call you. He’s literally halfway through punching your number into the keypad until he stops and decides against it. He knows your number off by heart now.

🕷- You appear and disappear like a ghost its so random.

🕷- Honest to god, he lowkey thought you were homeless until you invited him over to watch Barbie Mermaidia.

🕷- “Bibble is so me.”

🕷- He’s the only person you let over at your place. its small and in the basement of an old apartment complex. the landlord couldn’t get anyone to pay to live there. you live alone.

🕷- You struck a deal, and they let you crash there as long as rent was on time and you fixed their washing machine for free.

🕷- Miles asked how you got to live there for so cheap. You tell him it’s because someone died on the couch he was sitting on.

🕷- He sits on the floor.

🕷- Miles is so eager to share his new powers with someone.

🕷- No seriously, between all the stress and lying and anxiety its nice to let himself get excited about it. To let himself have fun and see what he can do.

🕷- You guys TOTALLY video tape him trying out his new powers for the first time.

🕷- I can imagine you finding an abandoned alleyway on some random ass street after school and filming Miles Trying to do a backflip LMAO.

🕷- You gotta fish him out of a trashcan after he tries to spider climb up the wall.

🕷- You know that thing where a group of friends duck tapes one of their friends to a wall for fun? You get miles to do that to you.

🕷- You guys can’t stop laughing, The best memories of your lives are in those videos.

🕷- He’ll take you up to the top of buildings to show you the graffiti art he painted!! he’ll let you sign it off with a dick and balls or a heart if you want. You guys do homework up there together as well.

🕷- ’M & (Y/I) were here’ has been painted on every available surface of New York.

🕷- You both have the bright idea to hop on his back and go web slinging around the neighbourhood. He can carry you easily.

🕷- Miles decides If you don’t tell him to slow down, then he’s not going fast enough.

🕷- You NEVER tell him to slow down.

🕷- “Faster!!!“

🕷- Now that he’s got super strength he can put you in an inescapable headlock, he doesn’t do it too tight but he holds you there until you tap out.

🕷- He takes you to the coolest spots with the best views.

🕷- You regularly cover for him.

🕷- “We were at Jamba Juice the whole time officer I swear.”

🕷- Miles side eyes you knowing damn well he was no where NEAR a Jamba Juice.

🕷- ’Thanks’ he’d mouth.

🕷- You and Petter B will get along like a house on fire.

🕷- While Miles is extremely unimpressed by him, you don’t seem to care about any pre-existing expectations one might have when you think of the guy behind the mask of Spider-Man, your cracking jokes and feeding your pet rat a couple of French fries while the three of you sit in the diner, planning your next moves carefully.

🕷- Peter B can tell you’re a good kid. He’s at an age where a lot of your batshit tendencies don’t really faze him as long as your not hurting yourself.

🕷- Speaking of which.

🕷- When him and Miles get the chance to talk alone he warns him that he needs to be careful.

🕷- He tells him that normal relationships aren’t possible anymore. And stresses to him what a life like this can mean for your loved ones. especially since you found out his secret. This line of work isn’t just dangerous for Miles, but for you as well.

🕷- Miles is a little shaken after the conversation, no matter how gently Peter tries to put it. But what he’s implying is clear. He tries to shake it off and enjoy the time you both spend together. He won’t admit to himself that Peter is right just yet.

🕷- It’s just so easy to tell you everything and rely on you.

🕷- There will be a moment sometime in the future when reality sets in, but for now Miles makes the same mistake every Spider-Man does.

🕷- He has a best friend. :(

🕷- On the other hand, Peter comes to the staggering realisation that your actually extremely prone to accidents and danger all on your own. And he appropriately does a complete 180 from ‘casually distant bum-uncle' to ‘I am your dad now’.

🕷- It’s Nothing personal, kid. now stop trying to get in the middle of fights with dangerous criminals and let the adult— or at least the guys with super strength, stamina, speed and resilience— handle it.

🕷- He demands you stay out of the crossfire, but, to no one’s surprise you don’t listen.

🕷- You’re willing to throw yourself in front of Miles to shield him from anything, much to your best friends terror.

🕷- You hold your own surprisingly well against opponents that would be considered reasonable threats otherwise. You’re resourceful, grabbing anything and everything you can get your hands on. you get a terrifying look in your eye.

🕷- No matter how impressed Peter is, He will slingshot you around with his web-shooters to propel you out of the way of oncoming attacks. He will do this for both of you, but feels the need to do it less for Miles. He knows he can take what’s on the other end of the punch. But No matter how untouchable you make yourself out to be, you can’t.

🕷- “Do I want kids?”

🕷- He takes you on as his responsibility just as much as he does Miles.

🕷- Spider-Gwen also looks out for you in battle.

🕷- She’s more laid back, and even a little suave about it too.

🕷- She secretly wishes she had someone like you in her universe. What she wouldn’t give to decompress with you after a long day of patrolling New York.

🕷- She’s actually the most normal about you having a pet rat. You know, the one you grabbed out of a garbage can in a subway station. Yeah, That rat.

🕷- Miles watches you both get along like a house on fire and just quietly falls behind you both since he’s not sure what to do or say.

🕷- He’s so awkward, poor guy.

🕷- Your tendency to go off for days at a time ignites everyone’s curiosity. it’s a concerning habit, and Gwen even endeavours to follow you to see where you disappear to so often.

🕷- She’s unsuccessful.

🕷- It's never said out loud, but when she’s facing the one-way ticket home she finds herself wanting to stay just a bit longer. Not just for Miles, but for you to… She wonders what you’ll get up to while she’s gone.

🕷- …

🕷- Peter Porker vibes with you so hard.

🕷- no wait don’t scroll away wait

🕷- he WILL gift you the freakishly large cartoon mallet. Sorry, but miles didn’t appreciate it for what it was.

🕷- He would be cracking jokes and doing bits with you through out the whole goddamn movie.

🕷- Miles can usually let you do your own thing without sparing a second glance, but the looney tunes laws of physics that Porker exhibits WILL rub off on you at least a little.

🕷- It’s contagious. And when you start flattening eachother into to perfect discs it freaks everyone out a little.

🕷- He’s got enough to worry about in the plot,,, Damn,,

🕷- Spider Noir teaches you how to throw a good punch

🕷- in exchange you let him mess with your phone as much as he wants

🕷- "how the hell do you work this thing?"

🕷- He likes you, he thinks you got a lot of guts.

🕷- You were actually the one to design Miles’ suit. He took inspiration from one of your drawings in your school notebook.

🕷- You've always believed in him, and that made him believe in himself too.

Kirby AU talk: "Friendship Really Does Shine Like A Star!"

This AU heavily rewrites the story of Star Allies, rewrites a small part of the story of Forgotten Land, and does a few more extra things. All the other games that take place before Star Allies and Forgotten Land stay the same.

Four big things happen here:

-The villain group in Star Allies is much more threatening in this AU.

-An extra wave of dream friends accompanies Kirby and co.

-All the dream friends show up in Forgotten Land in post-game.

-Some extra masks are added to Merry Magoland.

Now, let's go into all of this in detail.

Before this AU's Star Allies events begin, there's a prologue of Hyness attempting to use up all the dark energy the cult currently has to power up the Jamba heart in hopes of summoning Void Termina.

However... there's a problem. There's not enough dark energy to activate the Jamba heart. Void Termina cannot be summoned yet.

It's only about 60% complete. The cult needs to expand on its believers to radiate more dark energy to be capable of fully activating the Jamba heart. The cult is going to need to invade planets for this.

And so Hyness orders his three generals, The Three Mage Sisters, to take their armies and invade planets to force people to join the cult against their will. Each Mage Sister has her own respective army of Jammerjabs, and so there are three Jambastion armies out to force expansion for the cult. Hyness will stay at the Divine Terminus to keep watch, as this is the very area where he'll summon Void Termina.

The Mage Sisters start invading a handful of planets with their armies. They relentlessly coerce people in the cult by overpowering them and then throwing corrupted dark hearts at them (like how Kirby throws friend hearts). When someone is joined into the cult by being influenced by a dark heart, it radiates dark energy that the cult will then use to power up the Jamba heart to summon Void Termina.

After invading a planet, the Mage Sisters are then free to run rampant around it, causing random chaos and killing people with their weapons. The planets they invade become stomping grounds.

Planet Earthfall, Planet Misteen, Planet Caverna, Planet Frostak, Planet Towara and Star Lavadom all get conquered by the cult. Not just that, but their respective smaller-sized stars get conquered too.

There still isn't enough dark energy radiated from all those conquests, however. The cult will still need to invade more planets.

After the cult conquers all those planets, Popstar is the next planet that the cult has their eyes on. And it's a much bigger planet than all the previous planets that were conquered, so the cult deduces that it may be able to finally summon Void Termina if it conquers Popstar.

All three of the Mage Sisters come into Popstar with their respective armies in an attempt to dominate the peculiarly star-shaped planet.

This is, of course, when Kirby and all the dream friends get involved. This is when the group eventually bands together to stop the cult.

King Dedede and Meta Knight get captured and are fed dark hearts. Kirby will have to fight them to knock the dark influence out of them.

While Kirby saves Popstar from the cult's domination, the dream friends gradually tag alongside him as they're all trying to fight back as well. They all agree that joining up with Kirby will increase the odds of victory and to finally put the cult in their place. Bandana Waddle Dee is the first one to join Kirby, as they meet up shortly after the grand adventure begins. All of the others then show up at later points.

All the dream friends in the canon Star Allies show up. This, indeed, means the wave 1, wave 2 and wave 3 groups as we know them.

Rick, Kine, Coo, Gooey and Marx show up to join the team early on. Adeleine, Ribbon, Daroach and Dark Meta Knight show up to join the team sometime after Dedede gets saved. Magolor, Taranza and Susie show up to join the team sometime after Meta Knight gets saved.

But the troubles in Popstar aren't over after Meta Knight gets saved. The cult still has strongholds on some places on the planet. The group still has to eliminate those strongholds and chase the Mage Sisters and their armies out of Popstar. And after they get chased out of the planet, three more people then show up to join the star allies.

Yes, that's right. Three more dream friends. An entire new wave of dream friends joins the group. That means even more help! Hooray!

Here are the three extra dream friends that join the group:

Gryll swoops by to join the star allies. This silly onion witch lady was once an adversary to Kirby, but they've made up a long time after. She's a buddy now! She's got many magical powers that she can use to fight the cult with, such as spawning star blocks out of her hands that she can throw in rapid succession, and many other various magic that her broom is able to perform. Gryll seems to enjoy chaos, so she might go a little bit nuts when fighting alongside the others. Gryll also appears to have history with Marx, as they were happy to see each other when she came to join the team shortly before they depart from Planet Popstar.

Drawcia shows up?!? What a surprise!!! She didn't even make up with Kirby before this, but it's still very much appreciated that she seemingly wants to help with the rest! Able to use all the attacks that she did when she fought Kirby a long time ago before this, Drawcia will be sure to make a great asset to the star allies. That being said, though, while Drawcia appears to have softened up a little bit compared to before, she's still incredibly morally grey. She can be considered another 'evil token' star ally, similarly to Dark Meta Knight.

Prince Fluff was hoping for the day he'd assist Kirby in another adventure. He's proud to have finally gotten that chance now! He's a bit of a prideful one. Although Fluff isn't only joining just to feed his ego by adventuring with Kirby again, he's also joining because his home of Patch Land was being threatened by the cult. He found a way to lock up the sock that serves as the gateway to his home to prevent the cult from going there, and then he's ready to join. Fluff can use all the attacks that he used during his adventure with Kirby.

After these three join the team, and after the team leaves Popstar, they go to the Jambastion fortress when they saw the Mage Sisters flee there. They hunt the Mage Sisters down and beat them up again.

But the Mage Sisters still don't give up. They inform that they're still fully intent on getting the dark energy needed to summon their god, and that they've already made a lot of progress in doing so with the handful of planets they've already conquered before this. The time on the Jambastion fortress ends with Zan Partizanne maniacally laughing as she destroys the fortress, forcing the star allies to leave the area and to go save all the planets that the cult has dominated.

The star allies go to each of the corrupted planets one-by-one. They save the planets in mostly the same order as canon, except that Star Lavadom gets visited before Planet Towara. Planet Towara is the last of the conquered planets that the star allies rescues from the cult.

After the star allies free denizens of Planet Towara from the cult's influence, something terrible happens. The Mage Sisters appear to have planned a surprise attack, as they then ambush the star allies, catch them off guard, and they literally kidnap Kirby in the process.

Yes, you heard that right. The Mage Sisters kidnap Kirby. They then fly off, maniacally laughing as they carry the pink puffball with them back to the Jambandran base. This enrages all the other star allies, as they unite closer together with the collective goal to save Kirby.

Although Kirby already gets taken to Hyness before the star allies can get to him. The cult threw a bunch of dark hearts at Kirby, as he was refusing to let himself join the cult, but it still radiated dark energy.

When the star allies show up at the Divine Terminus, they beat up the Mage Sisters and Hyness, and then free Kirby. But after he's freed, Hyness then throws the Mage Sisters and himself onto the Jamba heart in a desperate attempt to power it up, and luckily for them, it just suddenly has enough power to finally summon Void Termina.

The star allies destroy Void Termina. Hyness and the Mage Sisters then end up finding themselves into Another Dimension, which kickstarts events that are very similar to that of the events of HiAD.

HiAD plays out mostly the same in this AU as it does in regular canon, but a difference in the ending. When Kirby throws friend hearts at the four cultists... it appears that there's something wrong.

Francisca, Flamberge and Hyness appear to come out perfectly fine, but Zan Partizanne appears to be seriously injured. She's still alive, but she clearly needs treatment or else she'll eventually die. Hyness and the other two Mage Sisters freak out over this. They profusely apologize to the star allies, and thankfully Kirby forgives them and is willing to help them out in saving Zan's life. Eventually, the cult goes back to their home in Jambandran base just in time while Zan is still alive, and they're able to get the necessary treatment for her to live.

Zan Partizanne survives a close brink of death. And she's then super grateful to the rest of the star allies for helping out in saving her.

Hyness and the Mage Sisters are then onto the star allies' good side.

They, as well as the rest of the star allies, regularly keep in touch with Kirby. This includes Dark Meta Knight and Drawcia, who didn't make up with Kirby before this adventure, but they then became friends with him during it. Kirby grew on everyone in the team afterwards.

All the star allies show up in Forgotten Land after Fecto Elfilis gets defeated. Most of Forgotten Land's events mainly stay the same as in canon, as the main adventure before the Fecto Elfilis fight is not changed. However, after Elfilis is defeated, and when Kirby and Elfilin have to save Leongar, that's when all the star allies show up in Waddle Dee Town, intending to help clean up the mess that occurred.

They all got there through Magolor's ship. The Lor Starcutter was able to locate the place of the Forgotten Land during the events of the main story, and so he gathered up all the other star allies. The Lor traveled through dimensions to get to the Forgotten Land. As they came there and helped clean up the place, they met Clawroline and the others of the Beast Pack. They'd then met Elfilin and Leongar after the latter finally gets saved. Kirby would've needed to help clean up the Forgotten Land otherwise, but it turns out that he doesn't need to. All the other star allies showed up to do exactly just that!

A portal gets set up for people to travel between Popstar and the Forgotten Land literally anytime. This is a gift from the Beast Pack.

When Magolor opens up his amusement park of Merry Magoland some time after, four more masks get added that aren't present in the actual Magoland in RTDL Deluxe. All the 86 masks that show up in the game are still present in this AU's Magoland, but 4 get added.

These four masks are based on Gryll, Prince Fluff, Gorimondo and Sillydillo. Not gonna lie, I'm not sure why they didn't have masks for the latter two when they have masks for the other two in the Beast Pack. And of course, Gryll and Prince Fluff could use Magoland masks since they're in the star allies in this AU.

Now there are 90 masks for Merry Magoland instead of 86.

That's basically it for the major events of this AU. Other than Gryll, Drawcia and Prince Fluff getting accustomed with the rest of the star allies and how those three interact with the others, but that's for another day. I may or may not make a separate post going over that!

With moments like all the star allies showing up to save Kirby after he's kidnapped by the Mage Sisters, and all the star allies showing up at the Forgotten Land through Magolor's ship to clean up the place, the name title given to this AU very much becomes a true statement.

Friendship really does shine like a star!

A Mouthful of the Forgotten Land (Closed RP)

After the Jamba Heart incident, Kirby and his friends in Dream Land were able to enjoy a good and peaceful break and do what they do best: Play, relax, eat, and sleep. Even the three Mage Sister were involved in such activities alongside Bandana Dee, Marx, Taranza and Sectonia, Adeleine and Neptune, and even some new faces to Dream Land, Arle and Carbuncle, joined in on the fun. Though unbeknownst to them, a new adventure soon awaited them. But for now, let's join the group of friends enjoying a nice picnic together

"Mmm...~ This is delicious...~" Francesca said as she was eating some sandwiches

"You said it Franny! And to think this was created by a bunch of magic paint" Flamberge responded

"Your art skills are a cut above the rest, Adeleine... I was surprised when I saw that you were able to make all of this on your canvas" Zan told her

Psych x Community ??

I love psych and i love community so this vague concept of them existing in the same universe has been floating around in my head.

The key connecting factor being the references to Shawn/Britta’s similarly eclectic off-screen pasts. They're close in age so I'm like okay - it would totally be possible for them to have known eachother/dated/whatever at some point before.

psych aired from 2006 - 2014; Shawn born 1977

community aired from 2009 -2014; Britta born 1980

(Take these two quotes just as an example but it's referenced casually throughout both shows)

Britta’s Dad: I mean, every time we get too close, you run off. We sent you a birthday card to your apartment in New York, and the next week you’re setting fire to a Jamba Juice in San Jose.

Britta: How long is that gonna stick with me?

Britta’s Mom: Until arson is legal, sweetie.

Gus: Shawn, you’ve had fifty-seven jobs since we left high school.

Shawn: Yes I have. And they were all fun. But this one takes the cake.

Gus: Oh yeah? Better than the acupuncture clinic?

Shawn: I didn’t realize experience was necessary.

Gus: What about the summer you spent driving the weiner mobile?

Shawn: I did that for the hot dogs.

I think they fit somewhere in the ballpark of each other's types, both sluts(affectionate) and it makes sense for them to have crossed paths at some point during Britta's “anhercists” days.

So that establishes a link between the groups, but what would it be like if they interacted? Take the arbitrary scenario; Shawn and Gus have gotten themselves and by extension the SBPD into another whacky shenanigan somehow who cares how i'm not writing this

I imagine initially everyone in the study group has a more or less positive impression of Shawn because he's charming, (with the notable exception of…you got it! Jeff)

JEFF

In typical jeff fashion is immediately threatened by Shawn because he has to be the coolestmostlikeabledude™ in the room at all times while simultaneously has to act like he doesn't care so he's quietly seething and - hey what's this new dude doing here making all my friends laugh that's my job! i must now make it my life's mission to prove this guys a fraud and reclaim my status no matter how much a fool i make of myself in the process (a la: advanced documentary filmmaking)

BRITTA

Normal standard “hey old friend” situation, remember when we *insane thing involving multiple felonies and property destruction* haha anyway let me introduce you to my friends -

ANNIE

immediate skepticism that Shawn is able to sidestep pretty quickly by being charming/flirty (NOT in a gross way *hisses at the jeffannie shippers*) Her reaction being like when the dean “swaps bodies with jeff” or after abed’s don draper impression.

ABED

Knows Shawn isn't really psychic but goes along with it/doesn’t point out that Shawn’s hyper observant because he's invested in watching the psychic/cop show formula play out. He would! and I would too!

(quote from 5x03 Basic Intergluteal Numismatics):

Abed Nadir: [Pretending to read the crime scenes as a psychic] I see a man... using a social disorder as a procedural device. Wait, wait, wait, I see another man. Mildly autistic super detectives everywhere.

TROY

Obligatory: “you’re wrinkling my brain right now” and just general fascination, awe, and wonderment. Asks Shawn to tell him his future

SHIRLEY

Immediate judgment on Shawn's practices not being christian enough for her standards, but easily swayed to liking him once he picks up on something and comments on her ex husband being an idiot to lose her or something

PEIRCE

Does his peirce thing and tries to seem impressive and fails, something level five laser lotus blah blah - u get it thats enough on him

THE DEAN

Is facilitating the psych crew being there because it might bring in good press for greendale and he def does the hand on shoulder thing when he meets him you know the one - omg and totally is into Lassiter furrowed brows “im packing heat” Carlton, please. – lassie is Not Amused™

CHANG

This depends on what point in community canon this interaction takes place because season 1 chang would prob be normal(for him), but like season 5 Chang would do/say something so insane and so chang that i can't even come up with it

As for our psych guys, Gus points out how weird and fucked up and bizarre Greendale is meanwhile Shawn is LIVING for it - signs them up for the Dean’s PA announcements class, and “Gus! buddy! I hope you don't mind. I used your credit card to sign us up for The History of Ice Cream. Come on, it starts in 20 minutes ! :D” Gus: “Shawn! >:0”

Lassie would just nonstop point out all the health and safety violations- he doesn't want to be here- calls a lot of people hippies, generally grumpy demeanor and we love him for it.

Starburns terribly hits on Jules - gets rejected, proceeds to try and sell her drugs - gets arrested.

wel, hello again folks! been a while since I shared anything related to kirbo in general and now, I would like to scream in happiness as I share my boy, ADO with you!

(even though, he doesn't have one), in contrast to his counterpart, isn't actually shy but, rather, socially awkward but, if someone were to start the conversation about something he IS interested in, he will be more talkative n all. Oh! and who's that fairy that resembles ribbon in the bg? why that's Kawashima/BOW! (ribbon's counterpart), after meeting in the crystal shard incident, Ado and her became very close friend and their passion in exploring the universe made them become adventurers of their own and they began exploring the wide universe since.

2nd doodle: I can't say much about this one other then, a moot of mine stated ado x nana as a crack joke, I got influenced and now, it's canon in my popopo verse au lol.

3rd doodle: nobody in this universe can break crowned ddd or normal's ddd's record of having their bodies taken as the local hotspot for dark matter possession but, if there was a rankin' scale and I ranked the painter boy, I would say he would be in the 3rd rank.. cuz he (as well as adeleine) got possessed three times, but, the third time was more of a "group" possession thing by the bad jamba heart that literally slammed to his head made him go crazy, luckily for the painter, BOW was there to save hhi! even though she had to take extreme measures with the situation

Random Kirby Headcanon #16

When it comes to surnames and whether or not they exist, all species seem to go about it a little differently.

In the case of Astrals, they don’t have traditional surnames. Instead, they collect titles! For example, Kirby’s full name would be “Kirby of the Stars,” whereas Galacta Knight’s would be “[Whatever his real name is], Galacta Knight, the Aeon Hero.”

Waddle Dees don’t have last names. Frankly, they barely even have first names. In part, I imagine it’s not necessary since they sort of, by default, all consider themselves one big family anyways.

Tevatians (Animal people) don’t have last names, but may be referred to by their species occasionally, especially for clarification. For example, if someone were in a conversation with two Ricks, they might refer to our Rick as “Rick the Hamster” specifically.

Dark Matter do not traditionally have names, but Gooey has taken on an astral-style full name. Currently, he’s Gooey of the Heart.

Fairies’ surnames are based on the planet/kingdom they hail from. So for example, every fairy from Ripple Star has the last name “Ripple.”

Humans, obviously, traditionally have surnames, but seeing as how Adeleine was born in a wet cardboard box all alone and grew up with no family in my interpretation, she didn’t have one for a long time. Eventually, she took on the “Ripple” surname, though, as the fairies effectively took her in.

Halcandrans probably had last names based on their affiliations/what larger groups or sects they were a part of. Magolor, however, only being part Halcandran, and also being born in a wet cardboard box all alone, has no last name.

Insectoids probably have surnames, considering they had a royal family. I can see something French-adjacent. I have no actual idea on what I’d make Taranza and Sectonia’s actual surnames, though.

Neumanns (Susie and the Mage Sisters’ species in my headcanons) have last names. Susie’s, obviously, is Haltmann. I like to think the Mages wanted to take on Hyness’s last name after being adopted by him, but I also don’t think his species does last names, so maybe their surnames are just “Jamba” or something. Flamberge specifically actually has that hyphenated with her birth surname, being the only Mage Sister that was close to their original family.

Avians (Dedede’s species), Noddies (Marx’s species), and Elfilin’s species also do not have last names. However, I can also see Elfilin eventually taking on an Astral-styled surname like Gooey did.

The Ancients And What We Know About Them

Please note, this post contains spoilers for Forgotten Land, Return To Dream Land, Star Allies, Robobot and Super Kirby Clash!

The Ancients in Kirby were a highly technologically advanced group of people first mentioned in Return To Dreamland by Magalor. From Magalor's lines in this game, we learn that they created many artifacts throughout the series. This includes:

•The Lor Starcutter, Magalor's stolen ship that can travel dimensions seemingly effortlessly.

•The Master Crown which is an incredibly powerful crown and subject of Magalor's schemes. It is guarded by the dragon Landia and apparently contains infinite power, though it warps the mind of the wearer as shown on Magalor and Parallel Landia.

•The Clockwork Stars, which includes Galactic Nova from Super Star, who is the impetus for Marx's plot in Milky Way Wishes and the considerably more advanced, though incomplete Star Dream from Planet Robobot, source of the Haltmann Works Company's strength. These can grant any wish and, despite being sentient, are functionally computers and don't hold much free will.

•And the Star Rod, which powers the Fountain Of Dreams in Kirby's Adventure.

So, as you can see, these guys have had a huge impact on the series, even just from the objects they've left behind, so let's go deeper into what exactly they are.

The Ancients lived on a planet called Halcandra, which is where Magalor is also from. Halcandra is not part of the same dimension as Planet Popstar, instead sitting in a different one that is rather appropriately named Another Dimension, which is also the home of the Sphere Doomers. I plan to make a more indepth post about Another Dimension sometime, but for now I'll leave it at that.

There are two characters who are incredibly likely to be members of the Ancients, or at least heavily associated Halcandrans. These members are Hyness and Galacta Knight.

Hyness was initially a kindhearted man who saved the world from a "repulsive nightmare of a galactic crisis" and brought Halcandra great prosperity, but was driven mad and eventually created a cult dedicated to Void. What exactly the crisis is seems to be unclear. The most common assumption seems to be that it's referring to Void Termina, but that seems unlikely considering his pause text from The Ultimate Choice states that he did not understand fully how to revive Void Termina and seems to treat the four heroes seperate to him. It could possibly be Nightmare, since the ancients created the Star Rod and the threat is described as a '''nightmare'". Whatever it is, after Hyness vanquished it, he was flung into the far reaches of the universe and left behind out of fear of his power. There is one small problem with Hyness being an Ancient, though. The Ancients are obviously renowned for their great technlogical strength, but Hyness is quoted as saying "Only through our magic were we able to overcome their science and achieve great prosperity!". So, was Hyness actually an Ancient and they simply had a division over magic vs science, or is he part of a seperate group? Personally, I believe Hyness is not an Ancient, but was exploited by them. More on their habit of doing that later.

On the other hand, there's Galacta Knight. He is, almost indisputably, one of the four heroes that vanquished Void. There is a great many things to back this up, between him wielding the heart needles that seal the Jamba Heart in his boss fight as the Dark Aeon Hero in Super Kirby Clash, him being sealed away for his power much like Hyness, his status as the strongest warrior in the galaxy, his battle taking place in an area similar to Halcandra and much more. Assuming Hyness is in fact one of these four heroes, Galacta Knight shares a lot of similarities with him. Both were banished and had their names scrubbed from history, both are Halcandran, they share a gold and white colour scheme and the portal that summons him in Star Allies was one created by Hyness. They never meet, unfortunately, so the nature of their relationship remains unclear. Something also interesting is that the core of Star Dream and the rubble of Galactic Nova's power after its destruction are a very similar shape and colour to the Jamba Heart that seals away Void Termina. Hearts seem to be a reoccuring visual theme in the Ancient's tech.

The Ancients seem to have a nasty habit of abandoning people. Alongside Hyness and Galacta's banishing, they are potentially the race mentioned in Forgotten Land as the group that captured Fecto Elfilis and used it to create all of the technology they are known for, particularly the spacial travelling technology like the Starcutter. After learning this, they left the planet, leaving the fractured Fecto Forgo and Elfilin behind along with the Beast Pack. This may imply that Halcandra is not actually their original home, with the Forgotten Lands being their origin. It is possible that soon after this is when Hyness and Galacta Knight were banished, with the Clockwork Stars and Lor Starcutter showing powers that were just as incredible, but without Hyness' madness or Galacta Knight's terrifying, planet destroying strength. Dick move!

Now, we mostly know what they've done, but what are their motives? Well, it seems unclear, but after careful analysis, I've decided it is likely to be paradise. They seem to have a strange obsession with reaching a paradise of sorts. The word "Lor" in the Jamba language means paradise, making the Lor Starcutter's full name the "Paradise Starcutter". To match with this, Hyness seems to be under the impression the Ancients that left him are living "somewhere pretty and peaceful", which seems like an odd distinction to make otherwise. The reason this stuck out to me is the Jamba word for hope. "Mapop". This might very well just be a coincidence, but I think this is the origin of Popstar's name, similar to how many real world places are named after lofty idealistic places, especially since it is a miraculously hopeful place.

(This has a bit of Z in there too 🙃)

- Big huggers. They give lots of good hugs to the other members.

- Them and Tae are the most open when it comes to their feelings, so when Z hangs out with them he doesn’t try to hide his sensitive side so much.

- (As said in Z and Robaire’s post) the Aaron’s and Robaire are the “middle children” of the group and jokingly pretend that they’re better than Jesse and Tae for this reason.

- Robaire plays video games with the Aaron’s sometimes, on the rare occasion that he is awake for as long as them.

- T jokes about Robaire being pretentious just because he speaks French and cooks fancy dishes.

- Also because Robaire is a perfectionist and T has a long running joke about him being “Mr. Perfect” (so does Z).

- They’re the most openly affectionate with the other members. They never hesitate to tell them how much they love them and they give lots of compliments that will get a big blush out of Z (and sometimes even Jesse).

- T makes fun of Robaire for crying during movies. T is generally not a movie-crier so he finds it hilarious and over the top when Robaire cries during movies.

- Sometimes T and Robaire go to Jamba at night or in the morning and get smoothies for the other members. Robaire always gets the healthy green ones. T is disgusted by this and ridicules him for it. He tells him he’s “missing out” on the good flavors.

- Robaire (unlike Jesse) finds T’s driving hilarious. Whenever he’s riding in T’s car he’s having a great time.

- Robaire and T are really good buddies to each other. Whenever Z is gone Robaire tries to give T even more love/appreciation and stays up really late to hang out with him. T really appreciates this a lot and lets Robaire know that.

- Robaire is always there to talk to T when he’s sad or upset, and reassures him that he doesn’t always need to make personal things into a joke, and tells him that he can be honest and talk about it with him and the other members .

- T has really gotten Robaire to loosen up over time. He taught him that it’s ok to have fun and not overwork himself all the time. Robaire is really grateful for T because it’s made him become a lot happier and more relaxed.

What's your least favourite Kirby villains?

Dark Nebula, Nightmare and Haltmann comes to mind for me.

Dark Nebula is just about as compelling as Squeak Squad's entire story.

I really like a lot of the fandom's Nightmare theories and headcanons but as result it ends up being disappointing when looking as the little official content we have. His lack of relevance in Adventure can be excused but they didn't utilise him effectively in the anime or Clash (even Dark Mind got more lore??).

I think you already talked about Haltmann but he had a sort of anticlimactic buildup who is really only interesting because of Susie.

Honestly I even struggle to call Dark Nebula a villain per say since for the most of the game they didn't really do anything and were just stuck in the chest. They are very anti climactic final threat, but not a villain

As for villains... I think my least favourite group by far is Jamba Cult from Star Allies. They are a fascinating concept and characters on paper... But it's only on paper. Execution is super messy and dissatisfying. Game itself doesn't make mages particularly charming or charismatic for me to care about them, and while Hyness in vacuum is very memorable and funny, he is very poorly handled in basically all storytelling aspects.

As he is shown in the game and from Kumazaki's own words he was always "wicked", always a shitty person. But then post-game retcons that into him being actually a nice guy and it's all just Jamba hearts influencing him to be crazy, isn't that silly?

I hate this so much, like, genuinely. Game chooses to show a relationship with abusive undertones and the thing it wants to say for the abuser is that he was actually good all along he was just going crazy because of an evil artifact? It's like if Return to Dream Land's story was officially retconned that Magolor was actually always a nice guy it's just Master Crown is soooo bad and made him go evil. It makes overall story and character itself worse.

And then we should CARE about Hyness and his well being for some unknown reason. Since when and why???? Mages I can understand being seen as somewhat sympathetic as we saw them being mistreated on-screen and in text, even if what we saw from them in the actual game is boring. But Hyness? Game gave me zero reasons to believe that his heel face turn was in any way justified.

Kumazaki, this is just an awful writing, I'm sorry.

This could've worked if story and lore didn't go towards this angle. It would've been so easy to just make Hyness yet another poor soul who went crazy due to dark magic without any other baggage attached. But Kuma clearly wanted to spice things up, but without fully committing, so we have this disaster on our hands.

FRANCHISE: kirby (star allies to be specific)

NAME: Plantain

TITLE: The Mage of Plants And Earth

ABILITIES: Geokenesis and Chlorokenesis.

BACKSTORY: A fourth mage, a brother who used to associate with the infamous Three Mage Sisters and their adoptive father figure named Hyness, also known as the Jambastion. The Jambastion is a cult known for worshiping the Jamba Heart, a crystalline heart formed of pure hatred and malice. Plantain's goal was to stop the three mage sisters and hyness from putting together the Jamba Heart and spelling the end of the universe by reviving Void Termina, a god of chaos and destruction bent on destroying all joy in the universe. He normally has a calm disposition but possesses a mental "three strikes and you're out" rule where if you intentionally harm or bother him or his family he will not hesitate to attack you. He typically isn't the instigator in fights but he does end them. Even long after his family is saved from the Jamba Heart he has nightmares of them still being puppeteered by it and finding him. Typically Francisca or King Dedede is the best at calming him down. He worked with "Team Kirby" as they're called, consisting of Kirby, meta knight, Dedede, bandana dee (or "Bandee" as the group calls him.) , and Magalor to free his family from the Jamba Heart. Something else that causes Plantain nightmares is that, when he went to confront his family and free them from the Jamba Heart he began attacking the heart, in his rage he didn't have time to dodge when the heart went at him and was absorbed into his body, mutilating him into a gigantic, hulking beast of wood and rock under the control of void Termina, freeing his family at the cost of his own freedom. He assumed that he would die once they defeated the monster that was once him, but he didn't. He simply became very weak and tired. But the situation is still very traumatic for him, the physical and psychological pain of being mutilated and being unable to control his body as it is used to attack his friends and family haunting him for years to come. His body possesses the ability to metabolize sunlight during spring, summer, and fall. But he still needs to eat during those seasons, just not as much as anyone else. He is stronger during the day but is still a force to be reckoned with at night. He is completely immune to pollen allergies, a fact his sisters are envious of. His near-death experience was being caught in a forest during an earthquake and getting pinned under a fallen tree.

Who do you think is the most evil Kirby villian?

[KATFL MAIN GAME SPOILERS WITHIN]

Surprisingly interesting question cause this series has villains with motives and goals that range from abstract stuff like covering the land in darkness, to pretty complex narratives about corruption and greed.

Haltmann Works/Star Dream, The Jamba, and Elfilis are the three who are the worst because they were consciously seeking (or have somewhat succeeded in) inter-planetary conquest and destruction. I'm not counting Zero because his motives and the impact of dark matter are abstract, and I’m not counting Magolor because he only became corrupted by the crown and failed. I’m also dropping The Jamba because even though they literally wanted to commit omnicide, the backstory of being a persecuted religious group turned revenge cult gives them a bit of sympathy points - plus they failed. So it's between these two - an interplanetary imperialist corporation headed by an omnicidal super computer, and an alien demigod with teleportation magic who destroys planets for fun... Haltmann and Star Dream are complicated cause neither started their arcs maliciously. Haltmann just seemed to be an inventor who was unknowingly corrupted by his creation, and Star Dream is omnicidal but only because it’s a computer acting on the data it was given. The real villain of their story is imperialism and its self-eating nature, but those two cause very real damage. Through hints and backgrounds you can see that their imperialist reach is very far, and by the time you reach Haltmann and his computer, he is entirely just a heartless, greedy man in charge of one of the largest campaigns of inter-planetary destruction we’ve seen. Elfilis is weird though... because we don’t know the most about their history before they came to the planet of Forgotten Land. We know that when they come to a planet to conquer it they try to destroy everything on it, but its not clear why they do that instead of trying to rule? The scale also isn’t clear because we cant tell how many planets they’ve destroyed before, but I doubt this planet was their first. So from a lot of assumption you can say that Elfilis is a powerful, sadistic alien who enjoys testing their strength by destroying planets. Which is very scary lol.

So I think based on motive and the scale of destruction, Haltmann Works and Star Dream is the most PLAINLY evil. In the text of the story there is a lot of emphasis put on their racist, greedy, and, sadistic campaign of destruction that makes them narratively, the most vile and destructive villains in the series. But if you think hard on it, Elfilis might be the worst because they seem to be on some DBZ villain shit of blowing up planets just because they can! Which I find incredibly interesting given how Elfilin is one of the most beloved companion characters in the series, but was once part of what might be the most straight fucked-up villain in the series.
