Parting glances: a final look at Jurong Bird Park
Parting glances: a final look at Jurong Bird Park
The opening of the heavens over Jurong late on Tuesday (3 January 2023), just as Jurong Bird Park was an hour or so short of shutting its doors for a final time was a poignant reminder of the sadness that was attached to the event. The deluge that its brought seemed very much like a torrent of tears that was being shed from up above. The park, which opened on the very day 52 years to the day it…

Bird Paradise is an aviary located in Mandai, Singapore. Opened on 8 May 2023, it replaced the Jurong Bird Park and forms a part of the Mandai Wildlife Reserve, consisting of the Singapore Zoo, Night Safari and River Wonders and the upcoming Rainforest Wild Park. Bird Paradise covers approximately 17 hectares (42 acres), with larger and more walk-in aviaries than the previous Jurong Bird Park. It is the home to 3,500 birds across 400 species.

If you arrived by coach or public transports, this Waterfall is the first you will see. After that, just follow the signage up a series of escalators to reach the top of the waterfall and walk along the sheltered linkway to the main entrance of the bird park.

Now you either check the Bird Paradise Park Map which is provided throughout the attraction or download the Mandai App and use it to plan your trip around the park. Once you have decided which to use, proceed to enjoy the exhibits.

Awkward Discussion
Tumblr media
A pied imperial pigeon and a bearded barbet in the former Jurong Bird Park. Photo credit: Jonathan Chua.
I had just focussed on the pigeon when this bearded barbet came landing on the same branch so I busied myself with the shutter as both entered into an awkward discussion. An intrusive leaf behind the barbet was toned down and darkened away in post.

Did you know that there are more plastic flamingos on earth than real ones? I wonder if it's the opposite on a distant planet far away or a different universe or dimension. Maybe there are tons of real flamingos and there are more plastic humans than real ones.
oh nnNNNOOO THIS MAKES ME KINDA SAD, I WANT MORE REAL FLAMINGOS :((((( the only time i saw flamingos in the flesh (or, er....in the feathers?) was when i went to jurong bird park in singapore
in this flamingo AU, i hope all the inhabitants have a vague inkling of how lucky they are to live in a flamingo plentiful universe. imagine, them seeing a plastic flamingo and oops no it was actually just a real flamingo that was very good at staying still.
i am not making any sense right now but it's fun to imagine JHVSJHFKSD
thenk u for the ask :3c

Bird Park
By. Swikruti Das
Tumblr media
Recently I visited Asia's largest bird paradise. The Bird Park is an aviary and bird sanctuary located in Jurong, Singapore. If you haven't visited this place before then you must visit it. It has close to 3500 birds across 400 species. It is famed for impressive aviaries like Lory Loft and unique exhibits like the penguin coast. The most exciting part is feeding starlings and other African birds. The high flyer shows are amazing, you get to witness the world's largest flock of birds swoop into centre stage. A high flying symphony of colors. If you are a bird lover, then you will fall in love with that place.
